For example, each element, including numerical values, shapes, materials, parts, the position of each part, and the connection method of each part, is merely an example and should not be construed as limiting the present disclosure. Furthermore, in the following exemplary embodiments, components not described in independent claims based on the highest concept of the present disclosure are optional and may be provided as needed. The drawings are schematic and are not intended to be drawn to scale. Throughout this specification and the drawings, components having substantially the same function and configuration are designated by the same reference numerals, and redundant description will be omitted. Furthermore, components not directly related to one embodiment of the present disclosure are not shown in the drawings.

[0012] 1 shows an example of the configuration of an information presentation system (information presentation system 1) according to an embodiment. The information presentation system 1 is configured to evaluate the driving skills of a driver and present evaluation result information based on the evaluation results to the driver. The information presentation system 1 includes a smartphone 10 and a server device 30.

[0013] The smartphone 10 is a highly functional mobile phone, and is fixedly installed inside the vehicle 9 in a predetermined orientation relative to the vehicle 9. The smartphone 10 collects driving data such as the acceleration, angular velocity, and vehicle position of the vehicle 9, and transmits the collected data to the server device 30. The smartphone 10 also presents evaluation result information based on the evaluation results of the driver's driving skills transmitted from the server device 30 to the driver. The smartphone 10 is configured to communicate with the server device 30 via the Internet (not shown), for example, by communicating with a mobile phone base station (not shown) using mobile phone communication.

[0014] The server device 30 is an information processing device. The server device 30 is configured to evaluate the driving skill of the driver of the vehicle 9 based on the driving data of the vehicle 9 and register the evaluation result in a database DB described below. The server device 30 also transmits evaluation result information based on the evaluation result of the driving skill of the driver of the vehicle 9 registered in the database DB to the smartphone 10. The server device 30 is configured to be able to communicate with the smartphone 10 via the Internet (not shown).

[0015] In the information presentation system 1, the driver drives the vehicle 9 in a predetermined evaluation section that is the target for evaluation of the driver's driving skill, and the smartphone 10 collects driving data of the vehicle 9 and transmits the driving data to the server device 30. The evaluation section is set, for example, by a provider of the service of the information presentation system 1, and is set to include driving roads such as curves where differences in driving data are likely to occur depending on the driver's driving skill. The server device 30 evaluates the driver's driving skill in the evaluation section based on the driving data and registers the evaluation results in a database DB described below. In this way, evaluation results of driving skills in various evaluation sections are registered in the database DB.

[0016] In the information presentation system 1, while the driver is driving the vehicle 9, the smartphone 10 intermittently transmits data indicating the position of the vehicle 9 to the server device 30. When the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes an evaluation target section, the server device 30 checks whether evaluation results of the driving skill of the driver of the vehicle 9 for the evaluation target section or other evaluation target sections similar to the evaluation target section are registered in the database DB. If the evaluation results are registered, the server device 30 transmits evaluation result information based on the evaluation results to the smartphone 10. Then, the smartphone 10 presents the evaluation result information based on the evaluation results to the driver of the vehicle 9 before the vehicle 9 reaches the evaluation target section on the planned driving route. This allows the driver to improve their driving operation based on the evaluation result information when driving the vehicle 9 in the evaluation target section, thereby improving their driving skills.

[0017] 2 shows an example of the configuration of the smartphone 10. The smartphone 10 includes a touch panel 11, a speaker 12, a storage unit 13, a communication unit 14, an acceleration sensor 15, an angular velocity sensor 16, a GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receiving unit 17, and a processing unit 20.

[0018] The touch panel 11 and the speaker 12 are user interfaces. The touch panel 11 includes, for example, a touch sensor and a display device such as a liquid crystal display or an organic EL (Electro Luminescence) display. The touch panel 11 accepts operations by the user of the smartphone 10 and displays the processing results of the smartphone 10. The speaker 12 outputs the processing results of the smartphone 10 as audio.

[0019] The storage unit 13 is a non-volatile memory configured to store program data of various application software, etc. In this example, application software APP related to the information presentation system 1 is installed on the smartphone 10. The program data of this application software APP is stored in the storage unit 13.

[0020] The communication unit 14 is configured to communicate with a mobile phone base station by performing mobile phone communication, thereby communicating with a server device 30 connected to the Internet via the mobile phone base station.

[0021] The acceleration sensor 15 is configured to detect acceleration in each of three directions in the coordinate system of the smartphone 10 .

[0022] The angular velocity sensor 16 is configured to detect three angular velocities (yaw angular velocity, roll angular velocity, and pitch angular velocity) in the coordinate system of the smartphone 10 .

[0023] The GNSS receiver 17 is configured to acquire the position of the vehicle 9 on the ground (vehicle position) using a GNSS such as a GPS (Global Positioning System).

[0024] The processing unit 20 is configured to control the operation of the smartphone 10 and is configured using, for example, one or more processors, one or more memories, etc. The processing unit 20 collects driving data including time series data of acceleration detected by the acceleration sensor 15, time series data of angular velocity detected by the angular velocity sensor 16, and time series data of the vehicle position of the vehicle 9 obtained by the GNSS receiving unit 17. The time series data includes date and time data. Note that in this example, the driving data includes time series data of acceleration, angular velocity, and vehicle position, but is not limited thereto. For example, the driving data may include time series data of speed obtained by integrating the acceleration time series data. Furthermore, for example, the driving data may include time series data of acceleration in the traveling direction of the vehicle 9 obtained by performing coordinate transformation based on the acceleration time series data. Furthermore, for example, the driving data may include time series data of yaw angular velocity of the vehicle 9 obtained by performing coordinate transformation based on the angular velocity time series data. The processing unit 20 can operate as the communication processing unit 21 and the presentation processing unit 22 by executing application software APP installed on the smartphone 10.

[0025] The communication processing unit 21 is configured to control the operation of the communication unit 14 that communicates with the server device 30. Specifically, the communication processing unit 21 controls the communication unit 14 to transmit driving data to the server device 30 together with an identifier indicating the driver of the vehicle 9 (a driver identifier described later) after driving has ended. Furthermore, the communication processing unit 21 controls the communication unit 14 to intermittently transmit data indicating the position of the vehicle 9 (vehicle position data) detected by the GNSS receiving unit 17 to the server device 30 together with an identifier indicating the driver of the vehicle 9 (a driver identifier described later) while the vehicle 9 is driving. Furthermore, the communication processing unit 21 controls the communication unit 14 to receive evaluation result information based on the evaluation result of the driving skill transmitted from the server device 30.

[0026] The presentation processing unit 22 is configured to control the operations of the touch panel 11 and the speaker 12 based on the information transmitted from the server device 30 so that the touch panel 11 and the speaker 12 present information to the user.

[0027] 3 shows an example of the configuration of the server device 30. The server device 30 includes a communication unit 31, a storage unit 32, and a processing unit 40.

[0028] The communication unit 31 is configured to perform network communication to communicate with the smartphone 10 via the Internet.

[0029] The storage unit 32 includes, for example, a hard disk drive (HDD) or a solid state drive (SSD), and is configured to store program data for various software. In this example, server software related to the information presentation system 1 is installed in the server device 30. The program data for this software is stored in the storage unit 32. The storage unit 32 also stores map data DM and a database DB. The map data DM is road map data. The database DB registers the evaluation results of driving skills.

[0030] 4 shows an example of the configuration of the database DB, which includes section identifiers, section position data, road data, driver identifiers, evaluation result data, and driving date and time data.

[0031] The section identifier is an identifier of the section to be evaluated. The section position data is data indicating the position of the section to be evaluated on a map. The road data is data of the road in the section to be evaluated, and includes information such as the number of curves, curvature, length, and number of intersections in the section to be evaluated. The section identifier, section position data, and road data may be generated, for example, when the section to be evaluated is defined.

[0032] The driver identifier is an identifier of the driver. The evaluation result data is data indicating the evaluation result of the driving skill, and includes, for example, the driver's driving skill level, the characteristics of the driver's driving operation, and driving operation advice. The driving date and time data is data indicating the date and time when the driver drove the evaluation target section. The driver identifier, evaluation result data, and driving date and time data can be generated when an evaluation of the driving skill is performed based on the driving data transmitted from the smartphone 10.

[0033] For example, the four records from the first to fourth rows in FIG. 4 indicate data for an evaluation target section with a section identifier of "ID1". The section position data indicating the location of this evaluation target section on the map is "POS1", and the driving route data indicating the driving route of this evaluation target section is "DT1". In this example, four evaluation result data relating to four drivers with driver identifiers "DID1" to "DID4" are registered. The four evaluation result data are "RES1" to "RES4". The driving date and time data indicating the dates and times when the four drivers drove are "DATE1" to "DATE4".

[0034] For example, the three records from line 5 to line 7 show data on an evaluation target section with a section identifier of "ID2". The section position data indicating the location of this evaluation target section on the map is "POS2", and the driving route data indicating the driving route of this evaluation target section is "DT2". In this example, three evaluation result data relating to three drivers with driver identifiers "DID5", "DID6", and "DID1" are registered. The three evaluation result data are "RES5" to "RES7". The driving date and time data indicating the dates and times when the three drivers drove are "DATE5" to "DATE7".

[0035] In this way, the database DB registers evaluation results for a plurality of evaluation target sections. In this example, the database DB registers evaluation results for an evaluation target section with a section identifier "ID1" and evaluation results for an evaluation target section with a section identifier "ID2" for a driver with a driver identifier "DID1". In this example, the database DB also registers evaluation results for a plurality of drivers.

[0036] The processing unit 40 ( FIG. 3 ) is configured to control the operation of the server device 30, and is configured using, for example, one or more processors, one or more memories, etc. The processing unit 40 can operate as a communication processing unit 41, a skill evaluation unit 42, a registration unit 43, a determination unit 44, and a data processing unit 45 by executing server software related to the information presentation system 1 that is installed in the server device 30.

[0037] The communication processing unit 41 is configured to control the operation of the communication unit 31 that communicates with the smartphone 10. Specifically, the communication processing unit 41 controls the communication unit 31 so that it receives the driving data, the driver identifier, and the vehicle position data transmitted from the smartphone 10. The communication processing unit 41 also controls the communication unit 31 so that it transmits evaluation result information based on the evaluation result of the driving skill to the smartphone 10.

[0038] The skill evaluation unit 42 is configured to evaluate the driving skill of the driver regarding the driving operation in the evaluation section based on the driving data transmitted from the smartphone 10. By evaluating the driving skill, the skill evaluation unit 42 generates evaluation result data including the driver's driving skill level, the characteristics of the driver's driving operation, and advice on the driving operation.

[0039] The registration unit 43 is configured to register the evaluation results of the driving skills in the database DB stored in the storage unit 32. Specifically, the registration unit 43 is configured to register the evaluation result data generated by the skill evaluation unit 42 in the database DB together with the section identifier, section position data, driving route data, driver identifier, and driving date and time data.

[0040] The determination unit 44 is configured to determine whether the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes the evaluation target section based on the vehicle position data transmitted from the smartphone 10 and using the map data DM stored in the memory unit 32.

[0041] When the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes an evaluation target section, the data processing unit 45 is configured to check whether evaluation results related to the driver of the vehicle 9 for the evaluation target section or other evaluation target sections similar to the evaluation target section are registered in the database DB. Furthermore, the data processing unit 45 is configured to generate evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9 based on the evaluation results of the driving skills registered in the database DB.

[0042] Here, the memory unit 32 corresponds to a specific example of a "memory device" in an embodiment of the present disclosure. The database DB corresponds to a specific example of a "database" in an embodiment of the present disclosure. The processing unit 40 corresponds to a specific example of a "processing circuit" in an embodiment of the present disclosure. The touch panel 11 and the speaker 12 correspond to a specific example of a "user interface" in an embodiment of the present disclosure. The communication unit 14 corresponds to a specific example of a "communication circuit" in an embodiment of the present disclosure. The server device 30 corresponds to a specific example of an "information processing device" in an embodiment of the present disclosure. The vehicle 9 corresponds to a specific example of a "vehicle" in an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0043] [Operations and Effects] Next, operations and effects of the information presentation system 1 according to this embodiment will be described.

[0044] 2 and 3, the operation of the information presentation system 1 will be described. The information presentation system 1 performs an evaluation process for evaluating the driving skills of a driver and an information presentation process for presenting evaluation result information based on the evaluation results of the driving skills to the driver.

[0045] In the evaluation process, the driver drives the vehicle 9 in a predetermined evaluation section where the driver's driving skill is to be evaluated. The acceleration sensor 15 detects acceleration in each of three directions in the coordinate system of the smartphone 10. The angular velocity sensor 16 detects three angular velocities (yaw angular velocity, roll angular velocity, and pitch angular velocity) in the coordinate system of the smartphone 10. The GNSS receiver 17 acquires the position of the vehicle 9 on the ground using the GNSS. After the vehicle 9 has finished traveling, the communication unit 14 of the smartphone 10 transmits driving data including time-series data of acceleration, time-series data of angular velocity, and time-series data of the vehicle position, together with a driver identifier, to the server device 30. The skill evaluation unit 42 of the server device 30 evaluates the driver's driving skill in the evaluation section based on the driving data, and the registration unit 43 registers the evaluation result in the database DB.

[0046] In the information presentation process, while the driver is driving the vehicle 9, the communication unit 14 of the smartphone 10 intermittently transmits vehicle position data together with a driver identifier to the server device 30. The determination unit 44 of the server device 30 determines whether the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes an evaluation target section based on the vehicle position data of the vehicle 9 transmitted from the smartphone 10. If the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes an evaluation target section, the data processing unit 45 of the server device 30 checks whether evaluation results of the driving skill of the driver of the vehicle 9 for the evaluation target section or other evaluation target sections similar to the evaluation target section are registered in the database DB. If evaluation results of the driving skill are registered, the data processing unit 45 generates evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9 based on the evaluation results. The communication unit 31 of the server device 30 transmits the evaluation result information to the smartphone 10. Then, the smartphone 10 presents the evaluation result information to the driver of the vehicle 9 before the vehicle 9 reaches the evaluation target section on the planned driving route.

[0047] (Detailed Operation) Next, an evaluation process for evaluating the driving skill of the driver and an information presentation process for presenting evaluation result information based on the evaluation result of the driving skill to the driver will be described in detail.

[0048] 5 shows an example of an evaluation process for evaluating the driving skills of a driver. After the vehicle 9 has finished traveling, the communication unit 14 of the smartphone 10 transmits the traveling data together with a driver identifier indicating the driver of the vehicle 9 to the server device 30 based on an instruction from the communication processing unit 21. The server device 30 performs the following process based on the traveling data and the driver identifier.

[0049] First, the skill evaluation unit 42 of the server device 30 checks, based on the driving data, whether the vehicle 9 has traveled through an evaluation section (step S101). Specifically, the skill evaluation unit 42 checks, based on the time-series data of the vehicle position included in the driving data and the section position data in the database DB, whether the vehicle 9 has traveled through any of the evaluation sections registered in the database DB. If the vehicle 9 has traveled through the evaluation section, the skill evaluation unit 42 identifies the traveled evaluation section among the multiple evaluation sections registered in the database DB based on the time-series data of the vehicle position. If the vehicle 9 has not traveled through the evaluation section ("N" in step S102), this process ends.

[0050] If the vehicle 9 has traveled through the evaluation section ("Y" in step S102), the skill evaluation unit 42 evaluates the driving skill of the driver for that evaluation section (step S103). Specifically, the skill evaluation unit 42 extracts time-series data corresponding to the evaluation section identified in step S101 based on the driving data, and evaluates the driving skill of the driver of the vehicle 9 for that evaluation section based on this time-series data. As a result, the skill evaluation unit 42 generates evaluation result data.

[0051] Next, the registration unit 43 of the server device 30 registers the evaluation result of the driving skill in the database DB (step S104). Specifically, the registration unit 43 associates the evaluation result data generated in step S103 with a section identifier, section position data, driving road data, driver identifier, and driving date and time data, and registers the data in the database DB. The section identifier, section position data, and driving road data are data about the evaluation section identified in step S101. The driver identifier is data transmitted from the smartphone 10 together with the driving data. The driving date and time data is data extracted from the driving data.

[0052] This completes the process.

[0053] 6 shows an example of an information presentation process for presenting evaluation result information based on the evaluation result of the driving skill to the driver. While the vehicle 9 is traveling, the communication unit 14 of the smartphone 10 intermittently transmits vehicle position data together with the driver identifier to the server device 30 based on an instruction from the communication processing unit 21. The server device 30 and the smartphone 10 perform the following processes based on the vehicle position data.

[0054] First, the determination unit 44 of the server device 30 determines whether the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes an evaluation target section (step S111). Specifically, the determination unit 44 uses the map data DM based on the vehicle position data transmitted from the smartphone 10 and the section position data in the database DB to check whether any of the evaluation target sections registered in the database DB is located ahead of the vehicle 9 on the planned driving route of the vehicle 9. If the planned driving route includes the evaluation target section, the determination unit 44 identifies the evaluation target section on the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 from the multiple evaluation target sections registered in the database DB. If the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 does not include the evaluation target section ("N" in step S112), this process ends.

[0055] If the planned driving route of vehicle 9 includes the evaluation section ("Y" in step S112), the data processing unit 45 of server device 30 checks whether the evaluation result of the driver of vehicle 9 for that evaluation section has been registered in the database DB (step S113). Specifically, the data processing unit 45 checks whether evaluation result data associated with the section identifier of that evaluation section and the driver identifier of the driver of vehicle 9 has been registered in the database DB. If the evaluation result has been registered ("Y" in step S114), the process proceeds to step S118.

[0056] If the evaluation result has not been registered in step S114 ("N" in step S114), the data processing unit 45 identifies other evaluation target sections similar to the evaluation target section on the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 from among the multiple evaluation target sections registered in the database DB (step S115). Specifically, the data processing unit 45 uses the driving path data in the database DB to search for other evaluation target sections having driving path data similar to the driving path data of the evaluation target section on the planned driving route of the vehicle 9, thereby identifying other evaluation target sections similar to the evaluation target section on the planned driving route of the vehicle 9.

[0057] Then, the data processing unit 45 uses the driver identifier to check whether the evaluation result of the driver of the vehicle 9 for the evaluation section identified in step S115 is registered in the database DB (step S116). Specifically, the data processing unit 45 checks whether evaluation result data associated with the section identifier of the evaluation section identified in step S115 and the driver identifier of the driver of the vehicle 9 is registered in the database DB. If the evaluation result is registered ("Y" in step S117), the process proceeds to step S118. If the evaluation result is not registered ("N" in step S117), this process ends.

[0058] If the evaluation result is registered in steps S114 and S117 ("Y" in steps S114 and S117), the data processing unit 45 generates evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9 based on the evaluation result of the driver of the vehicle 9 that has been confirmed to be registered in the database DB (step S118). The evaluation result information includes, for example, information such as the date and time of the trip related to the evaluation result, the driver's driving skill level, the characteristics of the driver's driving operation, and driving operation advice. Then, the communication unit 31 of the server device 30 transmits this evaluation result information to the smartphone 10 based on an instruction from the communication processing unit 41. The communication unit 14 of the smartphone 10 receives this evaluation result information.

[0059] Then, based on an instruction from the presentation processing unit 22, the touch panel 11 and the speaker 12 of the smartphone 10 present the evaluation result information to the driver of the vehicle 9 before the vehicle 9 reaches the evaluation target section on the planned driving route (step S119). Specifically, the touch panel 11 and the speaker 12 can present the evaluation result information to the driver, for example, about several tens to several hundreds of meters before the evaluation target section.

[0060] This completes the process.

[0061] As described above, the information presentation system 1 includes a storage device (storage unit 32) capable of storing a database DB in which multiple evaluation results of driving skills related to the driving operations of one or more drivers are registered, a processing circuit (processing unit 40) capable of determining whether the planned driving route of the first vehicle (vehicle 9) includes a first evaluation target section that is a driving skill evaluation target, and a user interface (touch panel 11 and speaker 12) capable of presenting evaluation result information based on one or more of the multiple evaluation results to the first driver of the first vehicle (vehicle 9) before the first vehicle (vehicle 9) reaches the first evaluation target section on the planned driving route. As a result, for example, if the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes the evaluation target section, evaluation result information about the driver of the vehicle 9 is presented to the driver before the vehicle 9 reaches the evaluation target section. This evaluation result information is based on the evaluation result of the driving skills of the driver of the vehicle 9 when the driver previously drove the evaluation target section, and includes, for example, advice for the driver. In this way, the information presentation system 1 allows the driver to check the evaluation result information for the evaluation section in advance when he or she is about to drive the vehicle 9 through the evaluation section, thereby improving driving operation and driving skills. Thus, the information presentation system 1 can effectively present information.

[0062] That is, for example, if evaluation result information based on the driving operation at the time is presented to the driver immediately after the driver has traveled through the evaluation section, or if evaluation result information based on the driving operation at the time is presented to the driver immediately after the vehicle 9 arrives at the destination, the driver may forget the presented evaluation result information. For example, if the driver does not plan to travel through the evaluation section within, for example, several days after the evaluation result information is presented, the driver may forget the evaluation result information, making it difficult to improve the driver's driving skills. On the other hand, the information presentation system 1 according to the present embodiment presents evaluation result information based on past driving operations to the driver before the vehicle 9 arrives at the evaluation section. As a result, the information presentation system 1 allows the driver to check the evaluation result information and then improve their driving operation based on the evaluation result information, thereby improving their driving skills. In this way, the information presentation system 1 can effectively present information and effectively improve the driver's driving skills.

[0063] Furthermore, in the information presentation system 1, the multiple evaluation results include multiple evaluation results for multiple evaluation sections that include one or both of a first evaluation section and a second evaluation section similar to the first evaluation section. When the planned driving route includes the first evaluation section, the processing circuit (processing unit 40) is configured to check whether one or more evaluation results of the driving skills of one or more drivers in the first evaluation section or the second evaluation section are registered in the database DB. When one or more evaluation results are registered in the database DB, the user interface (touch panel 11 and speaker 12) is configured to present evaluation result information based on the one or more evaluation results before the first vehicle (vehicle 9) arrives at the first evaluation section. Thus, for example, when evaluation results for evaluation sections included in the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 are registered in the database DB, the information presentation system 1 can present evaluation result information based on the evaluation results to the driver. Furthermore, if the evaluation results for the evaluation target section are not registered in the database DB, the information presentation system 1 can present the driver with evaluation result information based on evaluation results for other evaluation target sections similar to the evaluation target section. This allows the driver to check useful evaluation result information based on the evaluation target section or other evaluation target sections similar to the evaluation target section in advance when they are about to drive the vehicle 9 through the evaluation target section, thereby improving their driving operation and driving skills. Therefore, the information presentation system 1 can present information effectively.

[0064] The information presentation system 1 also includes a terminal device (smartphone 10) having a user interface (touch panel 11 and speaker 12). The terminal device (smartphone 10) is configured to execute application software APP to control the user interface to present evaluation result information. As a result, the information presentation system 1 can realize the function of presenting driving skill evaluation result information simply by installing the application software APP on the smartphone 10.

[0065] Furthermore, in the information presentation system 1, the one or more drivers include the first driver. Therefore, the driver can directly improve his / her driving skills by checking the evaluation result information based on the evaluation result of his / her driving skill. As a result, the information presentation system 1 can effectively improve the driving skills of the driver.

[0066] [Effect] As described above, this embodiment includes a storage device capable of storing a database in which multiple evaluation results of driving skills related to driving operations of one or more drivers are registered, a processing circuit capable of determining whether the planned driving route of the first vehicle includes a first evaluation target section that is the target of evaluation of driving skills, and a user interface capable of presenting evaluation result information based on one or more of the multiple evaluation results to the first driver of the first vehicle before the first vehicle reaches the first evaluation target section on the planned driving route, thereby making it possible to present information effectively.

[0067] In this embodiment, the multiple evaluation results include multiple evaluation results for multiple evaluation sections that include one or both of a first evaluation section and a second evaluation section similar to the first evaluation section. When the planned driving route includes the first evaluation section, the processing circuit is configured to check whether one or more evaluation results of the driving skills of one or more drivers in the first evaluation section or the second evaluation section are registered in the database. When one or more evaluation results are registered in the database, the user interface is configured to present evaluation result information based on the one or more evaluation results before the first vehicle arrives at the first evaluation section. This allows for effective information presentation.

[0068] In this embodiment, a terminal device having a user interface is provided, and the terminal device is configured so that the user interface can be controlled to present evaluation result information by executing application software. Therefore, for example, by simply installing the application software on a smartphone, the function of presenting evaluation result information of driving skills can be realized.

[0069] In this embodiment, the one or more drivers include the first driver, so that the driver can directly improve his driving skills.

[0070] [Variation 1-1] In the above embodiment, as shown in FIG. 4, the database DB includes a section identifier, section position data, roadway data, driver identifier, evaluation result data, and driving date and time data. However, this is not limited to this, and some of these data may be omitted, or other data may be included. For example, as shown in FIG. 7, the database DB may include vehicle data. The vehicle data is data about the vehicle 9 driven by the driver, including, for example, data about the vehicle name and vehicle type. This vehicle data may be transmitted from the smartphone 10, for example, along with the driving data. For example, the evaluation result information generated by the data processing unit 45 of the server device 30 includes information about this vehicle data. The smartphone 10 presents this evaluation result information to the driver. This allows the driver to obtain, for example, information about the driver's driving skill level, the driver's driving operation characteristics, driving operation advice, and other information, as well as information about the vehicle used the previous time the driver drove the evaluation section. In other words, because a driver's driving operation may vary depending on the vehicle being driven, the smartphone 10 presents vehicle information to the driver. This allows the driver, when checking the presented evaluation result of the driving skill, to understand which vehicle the evaluation result of the driving skill was for.

[0071] [Variation 1-2] In the above embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, a smartphone 10 is used, but this is not limiting. Instead, for example, an in-vehicle device may be used as shown in FIG. 8. The information presentation system 1A according to this variation includes an in-vehicle device 110. The in-vehicle device 110 is fixedly installed in the vehicle 9. As shown in FIG. 9, the in-vehicle device 110 includes a display operation unit 111, a speaker 112, a storage unit 113, a communication unit 114, an acceleration sensor 115, an angular velocity sensor 116, a GNSS receiving unit 117, and a processing unit 120. The display operation unit 111, speaker 112, storage unit 113, communication unit 114, acceleration sensor 115, angular velocity sensor 116, GNSS receiving unit 117, and processing unit 120 correspond to the touch panel 11, speaker 12, storage unit 13, communication unit 14, acceleration sensor 15, angular velocity sensor 16, GNSS receiving unit 17, and processing unit 20, respectively, in the above-described embodiment. The processing unit 120 is, for example, an ECU (Electronic Control Unit), and can operate as a communication processing unit 121 and a display processing unit 122 by executing software. The communication processing unit 121 and the display processing unit 122 correspond to the communication processing unit 21 and the presentation processing unit 22, respectively, in the above-described embodiment.

[0072] In this example, the traveling data includes time series data corresponding to the actual traveling of the vehicle 9, such as time series data of acceleration and time series data of angular velocity, but is not limited to this. Alternatively, the traveling data may include time series data corresponding to the driving operation of the driver of the vehicle 9, such as time series data of accelerator opening and time series data of steering angle. The data on the accelerator opening and steering angle can be obtained from, for example, an ECU in the vehicle 9.

[0073] [Variation 1-3] In the above embodiment, the server device 30 has the determination unit 44 and the data processing unit 45, but this is not limited to this. For example, the smartphone 10 may realize some of the functions of the determination unit 44 and the data processing unit 45.

[0074] [Other Modifications] Two or more of these modifications may be combined.

[0075] 2. Second Embodiment Next, an information presentation system 2 according to a second embodiment will be described. This embodiment is configured to present evaluation result information based on evaluation results of the driving skills of a plurality of drivers different from the driver who drives the vehicle 9 to the driver who drives the vehicle 9. Note that components that are substantially the same as those in the information presentation system 1 according to the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and descriptions thereof will be omitted where appropriate.

[0076] The information presentation system 2 includes a smartphone 10 and a server device 50, similar to the information presentation system 1 (FIG. 1).

[0077] 10 shows an example of the configuration of the server device 50. The server device 50 has a processing unit 60. The processing unit 60 can operate as a communication processing unit 41, a skill evaluation unit 42, a registration unit 43, a determination unit 44, and a data processing unit 65 by executing server software related to the information presentation system 2 that is installed in the server device 50.

[0078] When the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes an evaluation target section, the data processing unit 65 is configured to check whether evaluation results relating to multiple drivers other than the driver of the vehicle 9 for the evaluation target section or other evaluation target sections similar to the evaluation target section are registered in the database DB. Furthermore, the data processing unit 65 is configured to generate evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9 based on the multiple evaluation results of the multiple drivers registered in the database DB.

[0079] Here, the processing unit 60 corresponds to a specific but not limitative example of a "processing circuit" in an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0080] 11 shows an example of information presentation processing in the information presentation system 2. While the vehicle 9 is traveling, the communication unit 14 of the smartphone 10 transmits vehicle position data together with a driver identifier to the server device 50 based on an instruction from the communication processing unit 21. The server device 50 and the smartphone 10 perform the following processing based on the vehicle position data.

[0081] First, the determination unit 44 of the server device 50 determines whether the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes the section to be evaluated (step S111). If the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 does not include the section to be evaluated ("N" in step S112), this process ends.

[0082] If the planned driving route of vehicle 9 includes the evaluation section ("Y" in step S112), the data processing unit 65 of server device 50 checks whether multiple evaluation results for multiple drivers other than the driver of vehicle 9 for that evaluation section are registered in the database DB (step S213). Specifically, the data processing unit 65 checks whether evaluation result data that is associated with the section identifier of that evaluation section but is not associated with the driver identifier of the driver of vehicle 9 is registered in the database DB. If multiple evaluation results for multiple drivers are registered ("Y" in step S214), the process proceeds to step S118.

[0083] In step S214, if multiple evaluation results for multiple drivers are not registered ("N" in step S214), the data processing unit 65 identifies other evaluation target sections that are similar to the evaluation target section on the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 from among the multiple evaluation target sections registered in the database DB (step S215).

[0084] Then, the data processing unit 65 uses the driver identifier to check whether multiple evaluation results for multiple drivers other than the driver of the vehicle 9 for the evaluation section identified in step S215 are registered in the database DB (step S216). Specifically, the data processing unit 65 checks whether evaluation result data that is associated with the section identifier of the evaluation section identified in step S215 but is not associated with the driver identifier of the driver of the vehicle 9 is registered in the database DB. If evaluation results for multiple drivers are registered ("Y" in step S217), the process proceeds to step S218. If multiple evaluation results for multiple drivers are not registered ("N" in step S217), this process ends.

[0085] If multiple evaluation results for multiple drivers are registered in steps S214 and S217 ("Y" in steps S214 and S217), the data processing unit 65 generates evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9 based on the multiple evaluation results for multiple drivers other than the driver of the vehicle 9 that have been confirmed to be registered in the database DB (step S218). Specifically, the data processing unit 65 generates evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9, for example, by analyzing the trends of the multiple evaluation results based on the multiple evaluation results for multiple drivers other than the driver of the vehicle 9. That is, the driving operation trends observed for many drivers other than the driver of the vehicle 9 are likely to also apply to the driver of the vehicle 9. Specifically, for example, if many drivers turn the steering wheel late on a certain curve, it is likely that the driver of the vehicle 9 also turns the steering wheel late. In this way, information about the trends in the evaluation results for multiple drivers is useful to the driver of the vehicle 9. Therefore, the data processing unit 65 generates evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9 by analyzing the trends of the evaluation results based on the evaluation results of the drivers other than the driver of the vehicle 9. Then, the communication unit 31 of the server device 50 transmits this evaluation result information to the smartphone 10 based on an instruction from the communication processing unit 41. The communication unit 14 of the smartphone 10 receives this evaluation result information.

[0086] Then, based on instructions from the presentation processing unit 22, the touch panel 11 and speaker 12 of the smartphone 10 present the evaluation result information to the driver of the vehicle 9 before the vehicle 9 reaches the evaluation target section on the planned driving route (step S119).

[0087] This completes the process.

[0088] In the information presentation system 2, the one or more drivers include a plurality of drivers other than the first driver, and the evaluation result information includes information according to the trends in the driving skills of the plurality of drivers other than the first driver. As described above, information about the trends in the evaluation results of the plurality of drivers is beneficial to the driver of the vehicle 9. Therefore, in the information presentation system 2, by presenting this evaluation result information to the driver of the vehicle 9, the driver's driving skills can be effectively improved.

[0089] In this embodiment, the evaluation result includes one or more drivers other than the first driver, and the evaluation result information includes information according to the driving skill tendencies of the drivers other than the first driver, so that the driving skill of the driver can be effectively improved. Other effects are the same as those of the first embodiment.

[0090] [Modification 2-1] The modifications of the first embodiment may be applied to the information presentation system 2 according to the embodiment.

[0091] [Modification 2-2] The information presentation system 2 according to the above embodiment may be combined with the information presentation system 1 according to the above first embodiment. Specifically, for example, in step S117 in the case of the above first embodiment (FIG. 6), if the evaluation result of the driver of the vehicle 9 is not registered in the database DB ("N" in step S117), the server device 50 may perform the processes from step S213 onwards shown in FIG. 11.

[0092] As in the first embodiment (FIG. 6), the data processing unit 65 according to this modification checks whether the evaluation results of the driver of the vehicle 9 for the evaluation section on the planned driving route or for other evaluation sections similar to the evaluation section are registered in the database DB (steps S113 to S117 in FIG. 6). If the evaluation results of the driver of the vehicle 9 are registered in the database DB ("Y" in steps S114 and S117), the data processing unit 65 generates evaluation result information based on the evaluation results of the driver of the vehicle 9 (step S118).

[0093] If the evaluation results of the driver of the vehicle 9 for these evaluation sections are not registered in the database DB ("N" in step S117), the data processing unit 65 checks whether evaluation results of multiple drivers other than the driver of the vehicle 9 for the evaluation sections on the planned driving route or other evaluation sections similar to the evaluation sections are registered in the database DB (steps S213 to S217 in FIG. 10). If multiple evaluation results of the multiple drivers are registered in the database DB ("Y" in steps S214 and S217), the data processing unit 65 generates evaluation result information based on the multiple evaluation results of the multiple drivers (step S218).

[0094] [Other Modifications] Two or more of these modifications may be combined.

[0095] 3. Third Embodiment Next, an information presentation system 3 according to a third embodiment will be described. This embodiment is configured to present, to the driver of the vehicle 9, evaluation result information based on evaluation results of the driving skills of other drivers whose driving skills are similar to those of the driver driving the vehicle 9. Note that components that are substantially the same as those in the information presentation system 1 according to the first embodiment are given the same reference numerals, and descriptions thereof will be omitted where appropriate.

[0096] The information presentation system 3 includes a smartphone 10 and a server device 50, similar to the information presentation system 1 (FIG. 1).

[0097] 12 shows an example of the configuration of the server device 70. The server device 70 has a processing unit 80. The processing unit 80 can operate as a communication processing unit 41, a skill evaluation unit 42, a registration unit 43, a determination unit 44, and a data processing unit 85 by executing server software related to the information presentation system 3 that is installed in the server device 70.

[0098] When the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes an evaluation target section, the data processing unit 85 is configured to check whether evaluation results relating to other drivers whose driving skills are similar to those of the driver of the vehicle 9 for the evaluation target section or other evaluation target sections similar to the evaluation target section are registered in the database DB. Furthermore, the data processing unit 85 is configured to generate evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9 based on the evaluation results of the driver registered in the database DB.

[0099] Here, the processing unit 80 corresponds to a specific but not limitative example of "processing circuitry" in an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0100] 13A and 13B show an example of information presentation processing in the information presentation system 3. While the vehicle 9 is traveling, the communication unit 14 of the smartphone 10 transmits vehicle position data together with a driver identifier to the server device 70 based on an instruction from the communication processing unit 21. The server device 70 and the smartphone 10 perform the following processing based on the vehicle position data.

[0101] First, the determination unit 44 of the server device 70 determines whether the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 includes the evaluation target section (step S111). If the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 does not include the evaluation target section ("N" in step S112), this process ends.

[0102] If the planned driving route of vehicle 9 includes the evaluation target section ("Y" in step S112), the data processing unit 85 of server device 70 identifies other drivers who have driving skills similar to that of the driver of vehicle 9 from among the multiple drivers registered in the database DB (step S312). Specifically, the data processing unit 85 uses the evaluation result data in the database DB to search for other drivers who have evaluation result data similar to that of the driver of vehicle 9 in each of the various evaluation target sections, thereby identifying other drivers who have driving skills similar to that of the driver of vehicle 9.

[0103] Next, the data processing unit 85 checks whether the evaluation results for the driver identified in step S312 for that evaluation section have been registered in the database DB (step S313). Specifically, the data processing unit 85 checks whether evaluation result data associated with the section identifier of that evaluation section and the driver identifier of the driver identified in step S312 have been registered in the database DB. If the evaluation results have been registered ("Y" in step S314), the process proceeds to step S318.

[0104] In step S314, if the evaluation result has not been registered ("N" in step S314), the data processing unit 85 identifies other evaluation target sections that are similar to the evaluation target section on the planned driving route of the vehicle 9 from among the multiple evaluation target sections registered in the database DB (step S315).

[0105] Then, the data processing unit 85 uses the driver identifier to check whether the evaluation results of the driver identified in step S312 for the evaluation section identified in step S315 are registered in the database DB (step S316). Specifically, the data processing unit 85 checks whether evaluation result data associated with the section identifier of the evaluation section identified in step S315 and the driver identifier of the driver identified in step S312 are registered in the database DB. If the evaluation results are registered ("Y" in step S317), the process proceeds to step S318. If the evaluation results are not registered ("N" in step S317), the process ends.

[0106] If the evaluation results are registered in steps S314 and S317 ("Y" in steps S314 and S317), the data processing unit 85 generates evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9 based on the evaluation results of the driver identified in step S312 that were confirmed to be registered in the database DB (step S318). Specifically, the data processing unit 85 generates evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9 based on, for example, the evaluation results of another driver whose driving skills are similar to those of the driver of the vehicle 9. That is, since the driving skills of the driver identified in step S312 are similar to those of the driver of the vehicle 9, it is highly likely that the driving operation tendencies of the driver identified in step S312 also apply to the driver of the vehicle 9. Information about the evaluation results of other drivers whose driving skills are similar to those of the driver of the vehicle 9 is also beneficial to the driver of the vehicle 9. Therefore, the data processing unit 85 generates evaluation result information to be presented to the driver of the vehicle 9 based on the evaluation results of the driver whose driving skills are similar to those of the driver of the vehicle 9 that were identified in step S312. Then, the communication unit 31 of the server device 70 transmits this evaluation result information to the smartphone 10 based on an instruction from the communication processing unit 41. The communication unit 14 of the smartphone 10 receives this evaluation result information.

[0107] Then, based on instructions from the presentation processing unit 22, the touch panel 11 and speaker 12 of the smartphone 10 present the evaluation result information to the driver of the vehicle 9 before the vehicle 9 reaches the evaluation target section on the planned driving route (step S119).

[0108] This completes the process.

[0109] In the information presentation system 3, the one or more drivers include a second driver who has driving skills similar to those of the first driver. The processing circuit (processing unit 80) is then able to identify the second driver using the database DB. As described above, information about the evaluation results of other drivers whose driving skills are similar to those of the driver of the vehicle 9 is also useful to the driver of the vehicle 9. Therefore, in the information presentation system 3, by presenting this evaluation result information to the driver of the vehicle 9, the driver's driving skills can be effectively improved.

[0110] In this embodiment, the one or more drivers include a second driver who has driving skills similar to those of the first driver. The processing circuit is then configured to identify the second driver using a database. This effectively improves the driver's driving skills. Other effects are the same as those of the first embodiment.

[0111] [Modification 3-1] The modifications of the first embodiment may be applied to the information presentation system 3 according to the embodiment.

[0112] [Variation 3-2] The information presentation system 3 according to the above embodiment may be combined with the information presentation system 1 according to the above first embodiment. Specifically, for example, in step S117 in the case of the above first embodiment (FIG. 6), if the evaluation result of the driver of the vehicle 9 is not registered in the database DB ("N" in step S117), the server device 70 may perform the processes from step S312 onwards shown in FIGS. 13A and 13B.

[0113] As in the first embodiment (FIG. 6), the data processing unit 85 according to this modification checks whether the evaluation results of the driver of the vehicle 9 for the evaluation section on the planned driving route or for other evaluation sections similar to the evaluation section are registered in the database DB (steps S113 to S117 in FIG. 6). If the evaluation results of the driver of the vehicle 9 are registered in the database DB ("Y" in steps S114 and S117), the data processing unit 65 generates evaluation result information based on the evaluation results of the driver of the vehicle 9 (step S118).

[0114] If the evaluation results of the driver of the vehicle 9 for these evaluation sections are not registered in the database DB ("N" in step S117), the data processing unit 85 identifies another driver whose driving skills are similar to those of the driver of the vehicle 9 (step S312 in FIG. 13A). The data processing unit 85 then checks whether the evaluation results of the driver identified in step S312 for the evaluation sections on the planned driving route or other evaluation sections similar to the evaluation sections are registered in the database DB (steps S313 to S317). If the evaluation results are registered in the database DB ("Y" in steps S314 and S317), the data processing unit 85 generates evaluation result information based on the evaluation results of the driver identified in step S312 (step S318).

[0115] [Other Modifications] Two or more of these modifications may be combined.
