[0039] In the description of the present disclosure, the order of each step should be understood in a non-limiting manner, unless the previous step must be performed before the subsequent step in a logical and temporal sense. That is, in the case where the above exception scenario is not included, even if the process described as the subsequent step is performed before the process described as the previous step, it will not affect the essence of the present disclosure, and the scope of the present disclosure should also be defined regardless of the order of the steps.
[0040] In the present specification, terms such as "have", "may have", "include", and "may include" should be interpreted as indicating the presence of a feature (i.e., elements such as numerical values, functions, operations, and components), and the terms are not intended to exclude the presence of additional features.
[0041] Terms such as "first," "second," and the like can be used to describe various elements, but they are not intended to limit the elements. Such expressions are used only to distinguish one element from another. For example, a first element can be termed a second element, and, similarly, a second element can be termed a first element, without departing from the scope of the present disclosure.
[0042] In addition, terms such as "front surface," "rear surface," "top surface," "bottom surface," "side surface," "left side," "right side," "upper portion," "lower portion," and the like used in the present disclosure are defined based on the drawings, and the shape and position of each element are not limited by these terms.
[0043] In addition, in the present specification, elements necessary for explaining each embodiment of the present disclosure are described, and thus the elements are not necessarily limited thereto. Accordingly, some elements can be changed or omitted, or other elements can be added. Also, the elements can be arranged to be dispersed in the device independently of each other.
[0044] In addition, although embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings and the contents described in the following drawings, the present disclosure is not bound or limited by the embodiments.
[0045] Figure 1 FIG. 1 is a perspective view schematically showing a rear surface of a display device 1 according to an embodiment.
[0046] The display device 1 is a device for visually displaying data on a screen.
[0047] Referring to Figure 1 The display device 1 can include a display panel 10 displaying an image and a rear cover 20 covering a rear surface of the display device 1.
[0048] The display panel 10 is configured to display an image and is mounted to be exposed to a front surface of the display device 1. As the display panel 10, various types of display panels such as a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel, an organic light emitting diode (OLED) panel, a quantum dot light emitting diode (QLED) panel, a micro LED panel, or the like can be used. Since a display panel incorporating a conventional technology can be used as the display panel 10, a detailed explanation will be omitted.
[0049] A sound output device 100 outputting sound between the display panel 10 and the rear cover 20 can be provided.
[0050] For example, the sound output device 100 can be implemented as at least one speaker. Here, the speaker can perform a function of converting an electric pulse into a sound wave, and it can be implemented in a dynamic manner distinguished according to principles and methods of converting an electric signal into a sound wave. However, the disclosure is not limited thereto, and the speaker can be implemented as an electrostatic type, a dielectric type, a magnetostrictive type, etc. within the scope of application of the disclosure.
[0051] In a case where the sound output device 100 includes a plurality of speakers, the sound output device 100 can utilize a plurality of sound channels, for example, 2 channels, 2.1 channels, 3 channels, 3.1 channels, 5.1 channels, 7.1 channels, etc., and reproduce the sound channels. For example, the plurality of speakers can include a center (C) speaker, a left (L) speaker, and a right (R) speaker.
[0052] Figure 2 FIG. 1-2 is a rear view schematically showing the display device 1-1 in which a rear cover 20 has been removed, and Figure 3 FIG. 1-3 is a cross-sectional view of the display device 1-1, which is enlarged to cross-sectionally show a sub speaker 120. Figure 2 FIG. 1-4 is a cross-sectional view of the display device 1-1, which is enlarged to cross-sectionally show the sub speaker 120.
[0053] Referring to Figure 2 , the display device 1-1 can include a main speaker 110 and a sub speaker 120 disposed on a rear surface of a display panel 10.
[0054] The main speaker 110 can be disposed at a lower portion of the rear surface of the display panel 10. The main speaker 110 can output sound in at least one of a front direction in which the display panel 10 displays an image, a rear direction opposite to the front direction, and a lower direction.
[0055] The main speaker 110 can include a left main speaker 110-1 and a right main speaker 110-2. The left and right sides can be set with respect to the display panel 10 of the display device 1-1 viewed from a front surface.
[0056] In a case where a two-channel sound source is input to the display device 1-1, the left main speaker 110-1 and the right main speaker 110-2 can output respective channels. For example, the left main speaker 110-1 and the right main speaker 110-2 can output an L channel and an R channel, respectively.
[0057] Referring to Figure 2 , the sub speaker 120 can be disposed at an upper portion of the rear surface of the display panel 10. Detailed descriptions regarding a direction in which the left sub speaker 120-1 outputs sound will be described below in Figure 3 . The right sub speaker 120-2 and the sub speakers of other embodiments can be similarly configured.
[0058] The auxiliary speaker 120 can include a left side auxiliary speaker 120-1 and a right side auxiliary speaker 120-2. In this case, the sound output from the left side auxiliary speaker 120-1 and the right side auxiliary speaker 120-2 can be sound on which signal processing has been performed with respect to a dual sound source that is input to the left side auxiliary speaker 120-1 and the right side auxiliary speaker 120-2, respectively. Detailed descriptions regarding signal processing of the dual sound source will be described later in Figure 11A
[0059] Referring to Figure 3 , the rear cover 20 can have a vent hole 21 in a region corresponding to a sound output region of the left side auxiliary speaker 120-1.
[0060] The left side auxiliary speaker 120-1 can output sound at the rear of the display device 1-1 through the vent hole 21 of the rear cover 20. However, the sound output direction of the auxiliary speaker 120 is not limited to the rear. For example, there can be a slit on the top side cover 31 of the display device 1-1, and the left side auxiliary speaker 120-1 can output sound upward from the display device 1-1 through the slit of the top side cover 31.
[0061] In an embodiment, the auxiliary speaker 120 can output sound in a direction inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the rear surface of the display panel 10. For example, the auxiliary speaker 120 can output sound in a direction inclined upward from the rear of the display panel 10.
[0062] Accordingly, in a case in which the display device 1-1 is used in an actual use environment such as a home, the sound output from the auxiliary speaker 120 is reflected on a wall and a ceiling behind the display device 1-1 and transmitted to a user in front of the display device 1-1. Accordingly, the user can experience a high sense as if the sound is generated at a position higher than the height of the display device 1-1.
[0063] A sound image can be located at the center of the display panel 10, or can be set to a position at which a sound image is generated through the output of the plurality of speakers disposed at the upper and lower portions of the display device 1-1. The sound image is a position at which sound generation is perceived by a user, not the actual position of the speaker that generates the sound. Accordingly, a problem of a difference between an image on a screen and a sound image associated therewith perceived by a user can be solved.
[0064] In some cases, the ratio of indirect sound transmitted to a user from the auxiliary speaker 120 to direct sound can be increased. The direct sound is sound generated from a speaker and directly transmitted to a listener, and the indirect sound is sound reflected on a wall, a ceiling, a floor, and other structures and transmitted to a listener. Accordingly, a sense of space perceived by a user can be extended.
[0065] Figure 4 FIG. 1-2 is a rear view schematically showing the display device 1-2 of which the rear cover has been removed, according to another embodiment, and Figure 5 FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view showing an enlarged section of the line II-II shown in FIG. 1. Figure 4
[0066] Referring to Figure 4 , the display device 1-2 can include the main speaker 110 and the auxiliary speaker 120 disposed on the rear surface of the display panel 10.
[0067] Since the explanation regarding the arrangement of the main speaker 110 is repeated with Figure 2 , the explanation will be omitted.
[0068] The auxiliary speaker 120 can be disposed at a position apart from the upper end of the rear surface of the display panel 10 by a predetermined distance.
[0069] Referring to Figure 5 , the rear cover 20 can have the slit 22 in an area corresponding to a sound output area of the auxiliary speaker 120.
[0070] The auxiliary speaker 120 can output sound at the rear of the display device 1-2 through the slit 22 of the rear cover 20.
[0071] In this case, the auxiliary speaker 120 can output sound in a direction inclined by a predetermined angle with respect to the rear surface of the display panel 10. For example, the auxiliary speaker 120 can output sound in a direction inclined upward from the rear of the display panel 10.
[0072] Since the explanation regarding the arrangement and the sound output direction of the auxiliary speaker 120 is repeated with Figure 3 , the explanation will be omitted.
[0073] Figure 6 FIG. 1-3 is a rear view schematically showing the display device 1-3 of which the rear cover has been removed, according to another embodiment, and Figure 7 FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view showing an enlarged section of the line III-III shown in FIG. 1-3. The right side speaker 120-4 and the side speaker of other embodiments can be similarly configured. Figure 6 Referring to
[0074] , the auxiliary speaker 120 can include the upper speakers 120-1 and 120-2 and the side speakers 120-3 and 120-4. Figure 6
[0075] The upper speakers 120-1 and 120-2 can be disposed at an upper portion of the rear surface of the display panel 10, and include a left upper speaker 120-1 and a right upper speaker 120-2. Since the arrangement and sound output of the upper speakers 120-1 and 120-2 are repeated in the auxiliary speakers 120 in Figures 2 to 5
[0076] The side speakers 120-3 and 120-4 can be disposed at side portions of the rear surface of the display panel 10. The side speakers 120-3 and 120-4 can include a left side speaker 120-3 and a right side speaker 120-4 disposed on opposite sides of the rear surface of the display panel 10.
[0077] Referring to Figure 7 In a region between the rear side cover 20 and the side cover 33, in a region corresponding to the sound output region of the left side speaker 120-3, a slit 23 can be formed.
[0078] The left side speaker 120-3 can output sound in the side direction of the display device 1-3 through the slit 23 between the rear side cover 20 and the side cover 33.
[0079] Accordingly, the sound image can be located at the center of the display panel 10, or the position at which the sound image is generated can be set by the output of the plurality of speakers disposed at the upper and lower portions of the display device 1-3. Accordingly, the problem of the difference between the image on the screen and the associated sound image perceived by the user can be solved.
[0080] In addition, the sense of space perceived by the user can be extended by the sound output in various directions, and reflected away from objects in the surrounding environment.
[0081] Figure 8 FIG. 1-4 is a rear view schematically illustrating a display device 1-4 in which the rear side cover has been detached, according to another embodiment.
[0082] Referring to Figure 8 The main speakers 110 can include first main speakers 111-1 and 111-2 and second main speakers 112-1 and 112-2.
[0083] The first main speakers 111-1 and 111-2 can be disposed at both sides of the rear surface of the display panel 10, respectively, and can output sound in the side direction.
[0084] The second main speakers 112-1 and 112-2 can be disposed at a lower portion of the rear surface of the display panel 10, and can output sound in the lower direction.
[0085] In this case, the first main speaker 111-1 and 111-2 can include at least one of a tweeter and a midrange speaker, and the second main speaker 112-1 and 112-2 can be a woofer.
[0086] The auxiliary speaker 120 can be disposed at a corner of an upper portion of a rear surface of the display panel 10.
[0087] Figure 9 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration of a sound output apparatus 100 according to an embodiment.
[0088] Referring to Figure 9 , the sound output apparatus 100 can include an input module 130, a processor 140, a main speaker 110, and an auxiliary speaker 120.
[0089] The input module 130 can receive an input of a sound signal. For example, the input module 130 can receive an input of a sound signal from an external apparatus (i.e., a source apparatus), an external storage medium (i.e., a USB), an external server (i.e., a Webhard), etc. by a communication method such as Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity, LAN), Bluetooth, Zigbee, wired / wireless LAN, WAN, Ethernet, IEEE 1394, HDMI, USB, MHL, AES / EBU, Optical, Coaxial, etc., a method by streaming or downloading.
[0090] The processor 140 can control the overall operation of the sound output apparatus 100.
[0091] According to an embodiment, the processor 140 can be implemented as a digital signal processor (DSP) and a microprocessor that processes a digital sound signal. However, the present disclosure is not limited thereto, and the processor 140 can include one or more of a central processing unit (CPU), a micro controller unit (MCU), a micro processing unit (MPU), a controller, an application processor (AP), a communication processor (CP), and an ARM processor, or can be defined by these terms. In addition, the processor 140 can be implemented as a system on chip (SoC) in which a processing algorithm or a large-scale integration (LSI) is stored, or in the form of a field programmable gate array (FPGA).
[0092] Figure 10 is a flowchart illustrating a sound output method of a display apparatus according to an embodiment.
[0093] According to Figure 10 the sound output method of the display apparatus as illustrated in FIG. 10, the input module 130 of the sound output apparatus 100 can receive an input of an audio signal at operation S1010.
[0094] Then, the processor 140 can determine a type of the input audio signal in operation S1020. In this case, the processor 140 can determine whether the input audio signal is a two or less channel audio signal or a three or more channel multi-channel audio signal.
[0095] Then, the processor 140 can control the main speaker 110 to output the input audio signal in operation S1030.
[0096] In operation S1030, if a two-channel audio signal is input, the input two-channel audio signal can be output through the main speaker 110.
[0097] Then, the processor 140 can control the auxiliary speaker 120 to output a part of the input audio signal in operation S1040. The part is determined based on the determined type of the input audio signal.
[0098] In operation S1040, a processed audio signal, which is a version of the input audio signal on which signal processing has been performed, can be output through the auxiliary speaker 120. In this case, the signal processing of the input audio signal can be a bandwidth enhancement processing in a predetermined frequency range of the input audio signal.
[0099] Alternatively, in operation S1040, a surround channel, which does not include a front channel of the audio signal provided to the main speaker 110, can be output by the auxiliary speaker 120. In the surround channel, signals such as surround, back surround, center, front top, back top, etc. can be included.
[0100] The auxiliary speaker 120 can output the surround channel, thereby maximizing the spatial sense of sound.
[0101] Figure 11A and Figure 11B is a schematic diagram illustrating a signal processing method 1110 of the sound output apparatus 100 according to an embodiment.
[0102] Referring to Figure 11A , according to an embodiment, if a two-channel audio signal is input, the processor 140 can control the main speaker 110 to output a signal corresponding to a front channel 1111 of the input audio signal. The front channel can include a left audio channel and a right audio channel. The processor 140 can also copy the front channel 1111 signal and then control the auxiliary speaker 120 to output a filtered version of the front channel 1111 signal that has been filtered by a band pass filter (BPF). Accordingly, a frequency band reproduced at a midrange speaker of the main speaker 110 can be enhanced through the auxiliary speaker 120.
[0103] Referring to Figure 11BAccording to another embodiment, if a multi-channel audio signal having 3 or more channels is input, the processor 140 can control the main speaker 110 to output a signal corresponding to the front channel 1111, and control the sub speaker 120 to output a signal corresponding to the surround channel 1112, which is a signal that can include channels other than the front channel 1111. For example, the sub speaker 120 can output a filtered version of the surround channel that has been filtered by the high-pass filter 1115.
[0104] The number of output channels can be the same as the number of input channels, or can be a number that is expanded or reduced from the number of input channels. For example, if the number of output channels is less than the number of input channels, the input channels can be down-mixed according to the number of output channels. Or, if the number of output channels is greater than the number of input channels, the input channels can be up-mixed according to the number of output channels. The processor 140 can include a mixer for performing the mixing task, or can control a separately provided mixer.
[0105] The sub speaker 120 can additionally output a filtered version of the front channel 1111 signal that has been filtered by the band-pass filter 1113, for providing the enhancement effect in the above-described Figure 11A
[0106] In addition, the main speaker 110 can additionally output a filtered version of the surround channel 1112 signal that has been filtered by a low-pass filter (LPF) 1114, thereby enhancing components of a low frequency band that are difficult for the sub speaker 120 to output.
[0107] While the embodiments have been shown and described, the present disclosure is not limited to the specifically-exemplified embodiments described above, and it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the present disclosure as claimed in the appended claims. Furthermore, such modifications should not be interpreted independently of the technical idea or prospect of the present disclosure.
