In addition, two lens OIS coils 306, two image sensor OIS coils 320, two lens AF coils 308, and image sensor AF coils 311 are shown; however, more than two lens OIS coils 306 (such as, any amount of lens OIS coils 306 between about two lens OIS coils and about eight lens OIS coils (such as, four lens OIS coils)), more than two image sensor AF coils 311 (such as, any amount of image sensor AF coils 311 between about two image sensor AF coils and about eight image sensor AF coils (such as, four image sensor AF coils)), and more than two lens AF coils 308 (such as, any amount of lens AF coils between about two lens AF coils and about eight lens AF coils (such as, four lens AF coils)) may be applicable to the disclosed embodiments. Furthermore, more than two image sensor OIS coils 320 , such as any amount between about two image sensor OIS coils to about eight OIS coils, such as four image sensor OIS coils, may be suitable for use with the disclosed embodiments.
[0038] As light 312 passes through lens 304, which may include one or more lenses, light 312 is refracted and converges to a center point 316 (e.g., a primary focus) on image sensor 310. In one embodiment, which may be combined with other embodiments, image sensor 310 is coupled to a gyroscope. The vertical axis at center point 316 may be referred to as an optical axis 318 of image sensor 310. The quality of an image recorded when center point 316 of converging light 312 intersects image sensor 310 may generally be better than the quality of an image recorded when center point 316 of converging light 312 does not intersect image sensor 310.
[0039] In order to adjust the position of the center point 316 of the light 312, the lens OIS coil 306, the image sensor OIS coil 320, the lens AF coil 308 and the image sensor AF coil 311 are used. The lens 304 is attached to a first magnetic suspension structure 350 that can move in the xy plane and / or the z direction. The first magnetic suspension structure 350 includes a horizontal member 351 coupled between the lens 304 and the lens OIS coil 306, and a vertical member 352 coupled between the lens OIS coil 306 and the lens AF coil 308.
[0040] Movement of the lens 304 and / or image sensor 310 in the xy plane and / or z direction can be used to minimize shake or vibration of the camera during camera operation. The lens 304 can be moved in the xy plane and / or z direction using one or more lens OIS coils 306, as indicated by dashed arrows intersecting the lens OIS coils 306. In addition, the lens 304 can be moved in the z direction (indicated by dashed arrows intersecting the lens AF coils 308) using one or more lens AF coils 308 to change the position of the center point 316 of the light 312.
[0041] The image sensor 310 is movably disposed in the optical device 301, and the image sensor 310 is movable relative to the lens 304. The image sensor 310 can be displaced in the x-direction, the y-direction, both the x-direction and the y-direction, and / or the z-direction. The image sensor 310 is coupled to a plurality of image sensor OIS coils 320 and a plurality of image sensor AF coils 311 through a second magnetic suspension structure 360, which can be moved in the xy plane and / or along the z-axis. The second magnetic suspension structure 360 can be independently movable relative to the first magnetic suspension structure 350 or coupled to the first magnetic suspension structure 350. The image sensor 310 is moved using the image sensor OIS coils 320 parallel to the xy plane (indicated by the dashed arrows intersecting the image sensor OIS coils 320) to better orient the image sensor 310 relative to the optical axis 318 and the center point 316 of the light 312. The second magnetic suspension structure 360 includes a vertical member 366 coupled between the image sensor AF coil 311 and the horizontal member 361.
[0042] In one embodiment that may be combined with other embodiments, the first magnetic suspension structure 350 and the second magnetic suspension structure 360 are part of a single magnetic suspension structure. In one embodiment that may be combined with other embodiments, the optical device 301 includes an optional vertical member 365 coupled between the horizontal member 361 and the lens AF coil 308. In one embodiment that may be combined with other embodiments, the optional vertical member 365 is omitted so that the movement and control of the first magnetic suspension structure 350 is independent of the movement and control of the second magnetic suspension structure 362.
[0043] During operation, power is applied to the lens OIS coil 306, the image sensor OIS coil 320, the image sensor AF coil 311, and the lens AF coil 308 to energize these coils and generate a magnetic field. Each magnet 302 has a magnetic field that travels from the south pole to the north pole of the magnet (indicated by the arrows extending through the magnet 302). Based on the Lorentz force generated between the magnet 302 and the current in the lens OIS coil 306, the image sensor OIS coil 320, the lens AF coil 308, or the image sensor AF coil 311, each of the lens OIS coil 306, the lens AF coil 308, the image sensor AF coil 311, and the image sensor OIS coil 320 is attracted or repelled by the magnet 302. [0044] The lens 304 may be moved to a position relative to the image sensor 310 to achieve OIS correction and / or AF correction by adjusting the current (e.g., power) traveling through the lens OIS coil 306, the lens AF coil 308, or both the lens OIS coil 306 and the lens AF coil 308. Each of the plurality of lens AF coils 308 may be capable of having a different power such that one lens AF coil 308 may be moved independently of another lens AF coil 308 to produce a lens 304 tilt, such as a tilt of the optical axis 318 of the lens 304 relative to a vertical axis (e.g., the z-axis).
[0045] Furthermore, the image sensor 310 may be moved to a position relative to the lens 304 to achieve OIS correction and / or AF correction by adjusting the current (e.g., power) traveling through the image sensor OIS coil 320, the image sensor AF coil 311, or both the image sensor AF coil 311 and the image sensor OIS coil 320. Each of the plurality of image sensor OIS coils 320 may be capable of having a different power, such that one image sensor OIS coil 320 may be moved independently of another image sensor OIS coil 320 to produce an image sensor 310 shift, such as a shift along the xy plane relative to the lens 304. Each of the plurality of image sensor AF coils 311 may be capable of having a different power, such that one image sensor AF coil 311 may be moved independently of another image sensor AF coil 311 to produce an image sensor 310 shift, such as a shift along the z-axis relative to the lens 304 and / or a tilt relative to the z-axis.
[0046] Misalignment (e.g., non-parallel) between lens 304 and image sensor 310 or motion from the camera device during operation can be remedied by tilting or shifting lens 304 and / or by tilting or shifting image sensor 310. Additionally, during device operation, the lens can be tilted to achieve a wider viewing angle for the camera system.
[0047] In one embodiment that may be combined with other embodiments, the lens AF coil 308 and the lens OIS coil 306 may be used to control the horizontal movement, vertical movement and / or tilt of the lens 304 independently of the image sensor OIS coil 320 and the image sensor AF coil 311 controlling the horizontal movement, vertical movement and / or tilt of the image sensor 310 .
[0048] FIG. 4A to FIG. 4C is a schematic diagram of a side view of a plurality of coil arrangements 400, 425, 450 of an optical device of a camera system according to the disclosed embodiments. The plurality of coil arrangements 400, 425, 450 may be used in the device 100, the camera system 200, and / or the camera system 300 described herein. In the plurality of coil arrangements 400, 425, 450, the magnetic field of a magnet 402 in the plurality of magnets is shown by a solid arrow traveling from the south pole S to the north pole N of the magnet 402. Although the plurality of coil arrangements 400, 425, 450 show a single magnet 402, the disclosed embodiments may be reflected on some or all of the plurality of magnets of the camera system. In the embodiments discussed, the AF coil may be used as a lens AF coil or an image sensor AF coil, and the OIS coil may be used as an AF OIS coil or an image sensor OIS coil. The AF coil adjusts the lens or image sensor along the z direction, and the OIS coil adjusts the lens or image sensor along the xy plane.

The OIS coil 404 is disposed outwardly of an outer surface 412 of a corresponding magnet 402 and is coiled in a vertical plane (in the Z direction) and disposed adjacent to the magnet 402. The present disclosure contemplates that the OIS coil 404 may be disposed inwardly of an inner surface (such as, the inner surface 411 of the corresponding magnet 402). The first AF coil 406a is coiled in a horizontal plane (in the XY plane) and is at least partially disposed below the lower surface 410 of the magnet 402. The first AF coil 406a includes a first portion 499 vertically aligned below the magnet 402 and a second portion 498 aligned inwardly of the inner surface 411 of the magnet 402. The outward end of the first portion 499 is vertically aligned below the center of the magnet 402. The center of the first AF coil 406a in the xy plane is vertically aligned below the inner surface 411 of the magnet 402. Current flows in a loop through the first AF coil 406a. Thus, current flows in a direction off the page when flowing through the first portion 499 (indicated by a dot), and current flows in a direction into the page when flowing through the second portion 498 (indicated by an "x"). The dot and x convention for current direction will be used in this and other figures. The OIS coil 404 includes a first portion 497 through which current flows in a direction off the page, and a second portion 496 through which current flows in a direction into the page.
[0050] In one embodiment, which may be combined with other embodiments, the first portion 499 of the first AF coil 406a is aligned outwardly of the outer surface 412 of the magnet 402, and the second portion 498 is aligned vertically below the magnet 402 and inwardly of the outer surface 412 of the magnet 402. In such embodiments, the center of the first AF coil 406a is vertically aligned below the outer surface 412 of the corresponding magnet 402. The position of the first AF coil 406a facilitates the magnetic field experienced by the first AF coil 406a to become larger, thereby facilitating improved efficiency and reducing the power (e.g., current) required by the first AF coil 406a. The position of the first AF coil 406a facilitates the first AF coil 406a to experience less stray magnetic fields and more direct magnetic fields to move the first AF coil 406a (e.g., vertically).
[0051] exist Figure 4B In the illustrated multi-coil arrangement 425, the multi-coil arrangement 425 includes the OIS coil 404 and the second AF coil 406b. Figure 4BIn the illustrated multi-coil arrangement 425, the first AF coil 406a may be omitted. The OIS coil 404 is disposed on the inboard side of the inner surface 411 and is coiled in a vertical plane and disposed adjacent to the magnet 402. The second AF coil 406b is disposed at least partially above the upper surface 413 of the magnet 402. The second AF coil 406b includes a first portion 495 vertically aligned above the magnet 402 and a second portion 494 aligned on the inboard side of the inner surface 411 of the magnet 402. The outward end of the first portion 495 is vertically aligned above the center of the magnet 402. The center of the second AF coil 406b is vertically aligned above the inner surface 411 of the magnet 402. Current flows through the second AF coil 406b in a loop. Therefore, current flows in a direction away from the page when flowing through the second portion 494, and current flows in a direction into the page when flowing through the first portion 495.
[0052] In one embodiment, which may be combined with other embodiments, the first portion 495 of the second AF coil 406b is aligned outwardly of the outer surface 412 of the magnet 402, and the second portion 494 is vertically aligned above the magnet 402 and aligned inwardly of the outer surface 412 of the magnet 402. In such an embodiment, the center of the second AF coil 406b is vertically aligned above the outer surface 412 of the corresponding magnet 402.
[0053] exist Figure 4C In the multi-coil arrangement 450 shown, the multi-coil arrangement 450 includes an OIS coil 404, Figure 4A The first AF coil 406a shown, and Figure 4B A second AF coil 406b is shown and at least partially disposed above the first AF coil 406a. The two AF coils 406a, 406b can be operated in unison to move the lens faster or over a greater distance in the z direction than by using only one AF coil (such as using only the first AF coil 406a or using only the second AF coil 406b).
[0054] In the plurality of coil arrangements 400, 425, 450, the center of the AF coils 406a, 406b may be aligned with the inner surface 411 or the outer surface 412 of the respective magnet 402. In the plurality of coil arrangements 400, 425, 450, the outward ends of the first portions 499, 495 of the AF coils 406a, 406b are vertically aligned above or below the center of the respective magnet 402, which results in a greater magnetic force experienced by the AF coils 406a, 406b using power and the magnet 402 (as indicated by the higher density of magnetic field lines in those regions in the figure). The greater magnetic force experienced by the AF coils 406a, 406b is advantageous in improving energy efficiency and reducing the power (e.g., current) required by the AF coils 406a, 406b. The location of the AF coils 406a, 406b facilitates the AF coils 406a, 406b to be subject to less stray magnetic fields and more direct magnetic fields to move the AF coils 406a, 406b (eg, vertically).
[0055] The magnet 402 may have one or more AF coils 406a, 406b associated with the magnet 402, wherein each AF coil 406a, 406b of a different magnet 402 may operate independently of one another. The OIS coil 404 may be aligned inwardly of an inner surface 411 of the magnet 402.

The OIS coils 524a-524d, 624a-624d, 724a-724d, 824a-824d, 924a-924d, 1024a-1024d, 1124a-1124d, 1224a-1224d, 1324a-1324c shown may be used for horizontal movement of a lens (such as lens 304) and / or horizontal movement of an image sensor (such as image sensor 310). The present disclosure contemplates that the lens may be moved horizontally and / or vertically while the image sensor is stationary. The present disclosure contemplates that the image sensor may be moved horizontally and / or vertically while the lens is stationary. The present disclosure contemplates that the image sensor may be moved horizontally and / or vertically while the lens is moved horizontally and / or vertically. The present disclosure also contemplates that the lens moves in one of the vertical or horizontal directions while the image sensor moves in the other direction. In one embodiment that may be combined with other embodiments, the AF coils 522a-522d, 622a-622d, 722a-722d, 822, 922, 1022a-1022d, 1122a-1122d, 1222e-1222h, 1322a-1322c are used to vertically move the lens, and the OIS coils 524a-524d, 624a-624d, 724a-724d, 824a-824d, 924a-924d, 1024a-1024d, 1124a-1124d, 1224a-1224d, 1324a-1324c are used to horizontally move the image sensor. In one embodiment that may be combined with other embodiments, the AF coils 522a-522d, 622a-622d, 722a-722d, 822, 922, 1022a-1022d, 1122a-1122d, 1222e-1222h, 1322a-1322c are used to vertically move the image sensor, and the OIS coils 524a-524d, 624a-624d, 724a-724d, 824a-824d, 924a-924d, 1024a-1024d, 1124a-1124d, 1224a-1224d, 1324a-1324c are used to horizontally move the lens.
[0058] Figures 5 to 13Each of the AF coils 522a-522d, 622a-622d, 722a-722d, 822, 922, 1022a-1022d, 1122a-1122d, 1222e-1222h, 1322a-1322c of the embodiment may be operated independently of one another, such that one or more AF coils of an embodiment may have a different power than another one or more AF coils of the same embodiment. Uneven power supplied to the one or more AF coils (e.g., different power supplied to at least one but not all AF coils) may produce a lens tilt in the z-axis such that the tilt changes the positioning of the center point (e.g., the primary focus) of the lens away from the center of the image sensor. Misalignment (e.g., non-parallelism) between the lens and the image sensor plane may be compensated and a wider viewing angle may be achieved by utilizing lens tilt.

The non-uniform power supplied to the one or more OIS coils (e.g., different power supplied to at least one but not all OIS coils) may produce an image sensor shift or a lens shift in the xy plane to better align the optical axis relative to the image sensor.
[0060] Figure 3 The aspects of FIG. 4 may be similar to or applicable to Figures 5 to 13 For example, the AF coils 522a-522d, 622a-622d, 722a-722d, 822, 922, 1022a-1022d, 1122a-1122d, 1222e-1222h, 1322a-1322c may be partially disposed below the corresponding adjacent magnets, partially disposed above the corresponding adjacent magnets, or partially disposed below the corresponding adjacent magnets and partially disposed above the corresponding adjacent magnets. The magnets are disposed at the corners or sides of a shape such as a rectangular shape or a triangular shape. The first magnet 1120a is located at the second position 1102, the second magnet 1120b is located at the fifth position 1105, the third magnet 1120c is located at the eighth position 1108, and the fourth magnet 1120d is located at the eleventh position 1111.
[0086] The OIS coils 1124a-1124d are disposed inwardly of the inner surfaces of the magnets 1120a-1120d. The present disclosure contemplates that the OIS coils 1124a-1124d may be disposed outwardly of the outer surfaces of the magnets 1120a-1120d.
[0087] The AF coils 1122a-1122d are disposed outwardly of the outer surfaces of the magnets 1120a-1120d. The present disclosure contemplates that the AF coils 1122a-1122d may be disposed inwardly of the inner surfaces of the magnets 1120a-1120d.
[0088] The first AF coil 1122a associated with the first magnet 1120a is located at the first position 1101 or outwardly of the first position 1101. The third AF coil 1122c associated with the third magnet 1120c is located at the seventh position 1107 or outwardly of the seventh position 1107. The fourth AF coil 1122d associated with the fourth magnet 1120d is located at the tenth position 1110 or outwardly of the tenth position 1110.
[0089] The first OIS coil 1124a associated with the first magnet 1120a is located at the third position 1103. The second OIS coil 1124b associated with the second magnet 1120b is located at the sixth position 1106. The third OIS coil 1124c associated with the third magnet 1120c is located at the ninth position 1109. The fourth OIS coil 1124d associated with the fourth magnet 1120d is located at the twelfth position 1112.
[0090] Fig.12A schematic top view of a multi-coil arrangement 1200 of an optical device according to a disclosed embodiment is shown. The multi-coil arrangement 1200 includes eight magnets 1220a-1220h, four AF coils 1222e-1222h, and four OIS coils 1224a-1224d arranged along a square pattern 1290. A first plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h (four are shown) are arranged at the four corners of the square pattern 1290. A second plurality of magnets 1220a-1220d (four are shown) are arranged at the four sides of the square pattern 1290. The first magnet 1220a is located at a first position 1201, the second magnet 1220b is located at a third position 1203, the third magnet 1220c is located at a fifth position 1205, and the fourth magnet 1220d is located at a seventh position 1207. The fifth magnet 1220e is located at the ninth position 1209, the sixth magnet 1220f is located at the tenth position 1210, the seventh magnet 1220g is located at the eleventh position 1211, and the eighth magnet 1220h is located at the twelfth position 1212. The shape of the first plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h is an irregular octagonal shape, and the shape of the second plurality of magnets 1220a-1220d is a rectangular shape.
[0091] A second plurality of magnets 1220a-1220d located on each side of the square pattern 1290 are magnetized horizontally or vertically toward a lens (such as lens 304) to generate a magnetic field horizontally in the horizontal direction (or vertically in the vertical direction) toward the center of the square pattern 1290 and toward the lens. The north pole of each magnet in the plurality of magnets 1220a-1220d faces inward toward the center of the square pattern 1290 (e.g., the lens location), and the south pole of each magnet in the plurality of magnets 1220a-1220d faces outward away from the center of the square pattern 1290 (e.g., the lens location). A plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h located on each corner of the square pattern 1290 generate a magnetic field vertically in the vertical direction in the z direction (e.g., parallel to the direction from the lens toward the image sensor). In one example, the north pole of each of the plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h faces downward toward the image sensor, and the south pole of each of the plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h faces upward toward the lens.
[0092] The first AF coil 1222e associated with the fifth magnet 1220e is located at a ninth position 1209. The second AF coil 1222f associated with the sixth magnet 1220f is located at a tenth position 1210. The third AF coil 1222g associated with the seventh magnet 1220g is located at an eleventh position 1211. The fourth AF coil 1222h associated with the eighth magnet 1220h is located at a twelfth position 1212.
[0093] A first OIS coil 1224a associated with the first magnet 1220a is located at the second position 1202. A second OIS coil 1224b associated with the second magnet 1202b is located at the fourth position 1204. A third OIS coil 1224c associated with the third magnet 1220c is located at the sixth position 1206. A fourth OIS coil 1224d associated with the fourth magnet 1220d is located at the eighth position 1208.
[0094] In one embodiment that may be combined with other embodiments, the first plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h is associated with the moving lens and the second plurality of magnets 1220a-1220d is associated with the moving image sensor. In one embodiment that may be combined with other embodiments, the first plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h is associated with the moving image sensor and the second plurality of magnets 1220a-1220d is associated with the moving lens.
[0095] In one embodiment that may be combined with other embodiments, the AF coils 1222e-1222h are fully aligned under the corresponding magnets in the first plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h. In one embodiment that may be combined with other embodiments, each of the AF coils 1222e-1222h is aligned between the inner surface and the outer surface of the corresponding magnet in the first plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h. In one example, the center of the AF coils 1222e-1222h in the xy plane is vertically aligned under the center of the corresponding magnet in the first plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h in the xy plane. In one example, the center of each of the AF coils 1222e-1222h in the xy plane is aligned between the inner surface and the outer surface of each corresponding magnet in the first plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h in the xy plane. The vertically oriented magnetization of the first plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h in the vertical direction facilitates alignment of each of the AF coils 1222e-1222h between an inner surface and an outer surface of a corresponding magnet in the first plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h.
[0096] By including separate magnets for each of the plurality of AF coils 1222e-1222h and for each of the plurality of OIS coils 1224a-1224d, the edges and corners of the square pattern are more fully utilized, thereby facilitating the compactness of the optical device and the camera system. Space within the square pattern 1290 is also saved because each of the plurality of AF coils 1222e-1222h is located below, above, or both below and above the plurality of magnets 1220e-1220h associated with each of the plurality of AF coils 1222e-1222h. In addition, the magnetic field for both the plurality of AF coils 1222e-1222h and the plurality of OIS coils 1224a-1224d can be maximized so that each coil 1222e-1222h is associated with a single magnet of the plurality of magnets 1220a-1220h. By maximizing the magnetic field applied to each of the plurality of OIS coils 1224a-1224d and the plurality of AF coils 1222e-1222h, power may be saved.

Each corner of the triangular pattern 1390 includes a magnet from the three magnets 1320a-1320c. The first magnet 1320a is located at a first position 1301, the second magnet 1320b is located at a third position 1303, and the third magnet 1320c is located at a fifth position 1305. The magnets 1320a-1320c, the AF coils 1322a-1322c, and the OIS coils 1324a-1324c are oriented toward the center of the triangular pattern 1390. In one embodiment, which may be combined with other embodiments, the centers of the three magnets 1320a - 1320c in the xy plane are aligned with the three corresponding corners of the triangular pattern 1390 .

The present disclosure contemplates that the OIS coils 1324a-1324c may be disposed on the outward side of each respective magnet, such as aligned with the outward surface of the magnets 1320a-1320c or disposed outward of the outward surface of the magnets. The present disclosure contemplates that the AF coils 1322a-1322c may be disposed on the outward side of each respective magnet, such as aligned with the outward surface of the magnets 1320a-1320c or disposed outward of the outward surface of the magnets. A first OIS coil 1324a associated with the first magnet 1320a is located at the second position 1302. A second OIS coil 1324b associated with the second magnet 1320b is located at the fourth position 1304. A third OIS coil 1324c associated with the third magnet 1320c is located at the sixth position 1306.

The second OIS 1424a-1424d and the second AF coils 1428a-1428d can operate independently of each other (e.g., with different currents). In one example, the lens can be tilted relative to the Z axis by applying different power to at least two coils of the first AF coils 1422a-1422d. In one example, the image sensor may be tilted relative to the Z axis by applying different power to at least two of the second AF coils 1428a-1428d. [0108] Fig. 14B According to the disclosed embodiment, Fig.14A 14 is a schematic partial side view of a multi-coil arrangement 1400 shown. The multi-coil arrangement 1400 of the optical device is part of a camera system (such as the camera 104 of the device 100, the camera system 200, and / or the camera system 300). In the multi-coil arrangement 1400, the magnetic field of the magnet 1452 is shown by the solid arrows that travel from the south pole S to the north pole N of the magnet 1452. Although the multi-coil arrangement 1400 shows a single magnet 1452, the disclosed embodiments may reflect all magnets of the camera system, such as Figures 3 to 14A The first AF coil 1422a can adjust the lens along and relative to the z direction, and the first OIS coil 1426a can adjust the lens relative to the xy plane. The second OIS coil 1424a can adjust the image sensor along the xy plane, and the second AF coil 1428a can adjust the image sensor along and relative to the z direction. It is contemplated that other configurations of the coils 1422a, 1424a, 1426a, 1428a may be suitable for use with the disclosed embodiments.
[0109] exist Fig. 14B , the split coil design 1400 includes a first AF coil 1422a, a first OIS coil 1426a, a second OIS coil 1424a, and a second AF coil 1428a. The second OIS coil 1424a is disposed outwardly of the outer surface 1421 of the magnet 1452 and is coiled in a vertical plane adjacent to the magnet 1452. The second AF coil 1428a is at least partially disposed below and at least partially aligned below the lower surface 1419 of the magnet 1452. The second AF coil 1428a includes a first portion vertically aligned below the magnet 1452 and a second portion vertically aligned outwardly of the outer surface 1421 of the magnet 1452. The center of the second AF coil 1428a is vertically aligned below or outwardly of the outer surface 1421 of the magnet 1452.
[0110] The first AF coil 1422a is vertically aligned partially below the lower surface 1419 of the magnet 1452. The first AF coil 1422a includes a first portion vertically aligned below the magnet 1452 and a second portion vertically aligned inwardly of the inner surface 1418 of the magnet 1452. The center of the first AF coil 1422a is vertically aligned below or inwardly of the inner surface 1418 of the magnet 1452.
[0111] In one example, the position of the first AF coil 1422a (e.g., inward position) is switched with the position of the second AF coil 1428a (e.g., outward position), and the position of the first OIS coil 1426a (e.g., inward position) is switched with the position of the second OIS coil 1424a (e.g., outward position). In one example, the first AF coil 1422a and / or the second AF coil 1428a may be located above the magnet 1452. In one example, the first AF coil 1422a and / or the second AF coil 1428a may be located above and below the magnet 1452. In one example, one of the first AF coil 1422a or the second AF coil 1428a is located above the magnet 1452, and the other of the first AF coil 1422a or the second AF coil 1428a is located below the magnet 1452.
[0112] Figures 15 to 17 is a schematic diagram of a side view of multiple coil arrangements 1500, 1600, 1700 of an optical device of a camera system according to the disclosed embodiments. Each magnet arrangement in the multiple coil arrangements 1500, 1600, 1700 may include two or more magnets coupled together. In one example of a multiple coil arrangement for a camera system including a single magnet for each magnet arrangement, the magnetic field generated is directed inwardly toward the center of the lens such that the north pole of the magnet faces inwardly toward the lens and the south pole of the magnet faces outwardly away from the lens. In one example, the north pole of the magnet faces inwardly toward the lens and the south pole of the magnet faces outwardly away from the lens at 180° opposite to the north pole (e.g., Fig.16 In one example, the magnet is magnetized at an angle relative to the horizontal plane, inwardly toward the lens, and the angle is an oblique angle of about 45° from the horizontal plane. In such examples where the magnet is magnetized at an oblique angle, the magnet is magnetized horizontally inwardly toward the lens and toward the OIS coil. The magnet is also magnetized vertically (e.g., downwardly) toward the image sensor and toward the AF coil. In one example, the magnet is magnetized at an angle relative to the horizontal plane, and the angle is about 90° from the horizontal plane (e.g., Fig.15 ). The angles listed are not intended to be limiting, but rather to provide examples of possible implementations. In another implementation, the magnet may generate a magnetic field pointing in the z direction.
[0113] In a multi-coil arrangement including a first magnet coupled to a second magnet, the first magnet may generate a magnetic field that is antiparallel to the magnetic field generated by the second magnet. In one example, the first magnet may generate a magnetic field that is perpendicular to the magnetic field generated by the second magnet.
[0114] Fig.15 The illustrated multi-coil arrangement 1500 shows a first magnet 1502 having a magnetic field 1510 pointing vertically downward in the negative z-direction. The magnetic field 1510 is directed vertically, such as at a 90° angle relative to a horizontal plane (e.g., an xy plane). The AF coil 1504 is coiled in the horizontal plane and disposed below the first magnet 1502. The AF coil 1504 can be coupled to an image sensor or lens to move the image sensor or lens vertically. The OIS coil 1506 is coiled in the vertical plane and disposed inwardly of the first magnet 1502. The OIS coil 1506 can be coupled to an image sensor or lens to move the image sensor or lens horizontally (e.g., in the xy plane). The magnetic field 1510 oriented parallel to the z-axis facilitates movement of the image sensor or lens along the z-axis if the image sensor or lens is attached to the AF coil 1504, and / or movement along the xy plane if the image sensor or lens is attached to the OIS coil 1506. The center of the OIS coil 1506 is horizontally aligned with the upper surface 1509 of the first magnet 1502 .
[0115] Fig.16 The illustrated multi-coil arrangement 1600 shows a first magnet 1602a having a magnetic field 1610 pointing in a horizontal direction (e.g., inward and toward the lens) and a second magnet 1602b having a magnetic field 1611 pointing in a vertical direction (e.g., downward and toward the image sensor). The north pole of the first magnet 1602a faces inward toward the lens, and the south pole of the first magnet 1602a faces outward away from the lens. The north pole of the second magnet 1602b faces downward (e.g., parallel to the direction from the lens toward the image sensor), and the south pole of the second magnet 1602b faces upward (e.g., parallel to the direction from the image sensor toward the lens). The magnetic field 1610 of the first magnet 1602a is perpendicular to the magnetic field 1611 of the second magnet 1602b. The AF coil 1604 is positioned parallel to the horizontal plane of the second magnet 1602b. The OIS coil 1606 is positioned parallel to the vertical plane of the first magnet 1602a. By having a dedicated second magnet 1602b acting on the AF coil 1604, the magnetic field experienced by the AF coil 1604 is larger, thereby facilitating improved efficiency and reducing the power (eg, current) required by the AF coil. Thus, the amount of current required to regulate the AF coil 1604 is reduced.
[0116] Fig.17 The illustrated multi-coil arrangement 1700 shows a first magnet 1702a having a magnetic field 1710 pointing in a horizontal direction and a second magnet 1702b having a magnetic field 1711 pointing in an opposite horizontal direction. The magnetization of the first magnet 1702a is antiparallel to the magnetization of the second magnet 1702b. The magnetic field 1710 of the first magnet 1702a is antiparallel to the magnetic field 1711 of the second magnet 1702b. The AF coil 1706 is positioned parallel to the vertical plane of both the first magnet 1702a and the second magnet 1702b. The antiparallel magnetic fields 1710, 1711 of the first magnet 1702a and the second magnet 1702b change the force direction of the AF coil 1706 by 90°. By changing the force direction of the AF coil 1706 by 90°, the AF coil 1706 can be moved in the z direction, so that the AF coil 1706 is used to move the lens or image sensor vertically in the z direction. The AF coil 1706 is disposed on the inner side of the first magnet 1702a and the second magnet 1702b (eg, Fig.171702a and the second magnet 1702b). The OIS coil 1704 is located below the second magnet 1702b and parallel to the horizontal plane of the second magnet 1702b. The OIS coil 1704 is used to move the lens or image sensor in the horizontal direction (such as along the xy plane). The antiparallel magnetic fields 1710 and 1711 of the first magnet 1702a and the second magnet 1702b change the force direction of the OIS coil 1704 by 90°. By changing the force direction of the OIS coil 1704 by 90°, the OIS coil 1704 is able to move in the horizontal direction. By having a dedicated second magnet 1702b acting on the OIS coil 1704, the magnetic field experienced by the OIS coil 1704 is larger, such as when the AF coil and the OIS coil share the same magnetic field. Therefore, the amount of current required to adjust the OIS coil 1704 is reduced. In one embodiment, which may be combined with other embodiments, the second magnet 1702b is disposed in contact with the first magnet 1702a. In one example, the second magnet 1702b is coupled to the first magnet 1702a.
[0117] Although the multiple coil arrangements 1500 , 1600 , 1700 illustrate a single magnet 1502 , a single pair of magnets 1602a , 1602b , and a single pair of magnets 1702a , 1702b , the disclosed embodiments may be reflected on multiple magnets or some or all of the multiple pairs of magnets of the camera system.
[0118] Benefits of the present disclosure include utilizing a coil structure (such as a vertical coil structure) to facilitate independent movement of an image sensor relative to a lens, and to facilitate tilt, optimal image stabilization (OIS), and auto focus (AF) functions of a camera system. By directing the magnetic field as described herein for a magnet or by having a dedicated magnet for each of a plurality of lens coils and / or a plurality of IS coils, power and space within an optical device and camera system can be saved. In addition, by individually adjusting the current of the IS coil, image sensor tilt and / or shift is achieved.
