AI Technical Summary
Existing shock absorbers are prone to damage to internal components or performance degradation when generating excessive hydraulic pressure. Furthermore, increasing the damping force requires increasing the size of the shock absorber, which restricts installation freedom and increases costs.
The structure employs a combination of elastic modules and disc modules, including a movable piston valve, a central guide member, first and second elastic members, and upper and lower discs. By forming a bypass flow path when the hydraulic pressure reaches its limit, it avoids component damage and increases damping force.
While maintaining the same size of the shock absorber, the damping force is increased to prevent component damage and performance degradation. Multi-stage bypass routes are provided to regulate hydraulic pressure and avoid damage to the shock absorber due to excessive pressure.

Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This disclosure generally relates to a shock absorber, and more specifically, to a shock absorber capable of eliminating excessive hydraulic pressure generated in a hydraulic chamber by selectively forming a bypass path. Background Technology
[0002] A shock absorber can refer to a device that generates damping force by moving a piston and compressing the fluid stored in the shock absorber.
[0003] Shock absorbers function to suppress or reduce vibrations transmitted from the road surface or absorb the energy of vibrations. Therefore, shock absorbers are used in vehicle suspension systems to improve vehicle handling or ride quality.
[0004] Shock absorbers in related technologies typically generate damping force solely through the hydraulic pressure of a fluid. For this reason, to increase the damping force, it is necessary to increase the amount of fluid stored in the shock absorber and the size of the components constituting the shock absorber.
[0005] However, it may be necessary to increase the size of the shock absorber to increase the damping force it provides. This could increase the cost of manufacturing the shock absorber or limit the freedom of choice regarding its installation.
[0006] Meanwhile, during the continuous compression process of the piston pressurizing the fluid, excessive hydraulic pressure may be generated in the hydraulic chamber. When excessive hydraulic pressure is applied to the flow path or components of the shock absorber, the function of the internal components of the shock absorber may deteriorate, or the components of the shock absorber may be damaged.
[0007] Deterioration or damage to shock absorber components can lead to a decline in vehicle handling or ride quality, thereby causing vehicle accidents.
[0008] The information disclosed in this section provides background information in connection with this disclosure, but does not constitute prior art. Summary of the Invention
[0009] Some exemplary embodiments of this disclosure are intended to provide a shock absorber capable of increasing damping force while maintaining or reducing the size of the shock absorber.
[0010] Some exemplary embodiments of this disclosure also aim to provide a shock absorber capable of eliminating or preventing excessive hydraulic pressure in a hydraulic chamber.
[0011] An exemplary embodiment of this disclosure provides a shock absorber comprising a tube filled with fluid and divided into a compression chamber and a rebound chamber by an upwardly and downwardly movable piston valve. The shock absorber includes: an elastic module disposed within the compression chamber and comprising a first elastic member, a central guide member, a second elastic member, and a lower guide member. The central guide member is disposed below the first elastic member and is upwardly and downwardly movable. The second elastic member is disposed below the central guide member and is configured to support a lower end of the second elastic member. A disc module disposed within the compression chamber and comprising an upper retainer, one or more upper discs, and one or more lower discs. The upper retainer is disposed below the central guide member and has one or more flow paths formed on its peripheral surface. The one or more upper discs are disposed below the upper retainer, and each upper disc has one or more flow paths formed on its peripheral surface. The one or more lower discs are disposed below the upper discs. The upper and lower discs bend downward to define bypass flow paths when an applied hydraulic pressure is equal to or higher than a preset hydraulic pressure.
[0012] Another exemplary embodiment of this disclosure provides a shock absorber including a tube filled with fluid and divided into a compression chamber and a rebound chamber by an up- and down-moving piston valve. The shock absorber includes: an elastic module disposed in the compression chamber and including a first elastic member, a central guide member, a second elastic member, and a lower guide member. The central guide member is disposed below the first elastic member and is up- and down-moving. The second elastic member is disposed below the central guide member and the lower guide member is configured to support the lower end of the second elastic member. A first disc module disposed in the compression chamber and including an upper retainer, one or more first upper discs, and one or more first lower discs. The upper retainer is disposed below the central guide member and has one or more flow paths formed on the peripheral surface of the upper retainer. The one or more first upper discs are disposed below the central guide member. Below the first upper plate, and each first upper plate having one or more flow paths formed on the peripheral surface of each first upper plate in the first upper plate, the one or more first lower plates being disposed below the first upper plate; and a second plate module disposed in the compression chamber and including one or more second upper plates and one or more second lower plates, the one or more second upper plates being disposed below the first lower plates, and each second upper plate having one or more flow paths formed on the peripheral surface of each second upper plate in the second upper plate, the one or more second lower plates being disposed below the second upper plate, wherein, when the applied hydraulic pressure is equal to or higher than a preset first hydraulic pressure, the first upper plate and the first lower plate bend downward to define a first bypass flow path, and when the applied hydraulic pressure is equal to or higher than a preset second hydraulic pressure, the second upper plate and the second lower plate bend downward to define a second bypass flow path.
[0013] Various exemplary embodiments of this disclosure can provide damping forces generated by the fluid contained in the shock absorber and by the elastic members during the compression process of the shock absorber. Therefore, it is possible to increase the damping force while maintaining or reducing the size of the shock absorber.
[0014] Some exemplary embodiments of this disclosure can provide a structure capable of providing or forming a bypass route when the applied hydraulic pressure is excessive. Therefore, damage to components of the shock absorber or deterioration of the shock absorber's performance can be prevented.
[0015] Some exemplary embodiments of this disclosure may employ a two-stage structure capable of providing multiple bypass routes in a stepped manner. Therefore, even when the first stage of the two-stage structure provides bypass routes, it is possible to provide or generate hydraulic pressure with a predetermined value or greater.

[0032] Implementation Method 1
[0033] Figure 1 This is a cross-sectional view of a shock absorber according to one embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 2 This is an exploded perspective view of a shock absorber according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, and Figure 3 This is a perspective view of a disk module according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0034] like Figure 1 and Figure 2 As shown, the shock absorber 1000 may include a tube 1510, a piston valve 1400, an elastic module 1100, and a disc module 1200.
[0035] The interior of tube 1510 is filled with fluid, and tube 1510 is disposed within shock absorber body 1500. Tube 1510 is configured to be spaced apart from the inner surface of shock absorber body 1500. For example, an air gap may be formed between tube 1510 and shock absorber body 1500. A reservoir chamber 1630 is formed in the space defined by the spaced-apart tube 1510 and shock absorber body 1500.
[0036] The piston valve 1400 is configured to move within the tube 1510 in a first direction and a second direction (e.g., upward and downward). The space within the tube 1510 is divided by the piston valve 1400 into a compression chamber 1610 and a springback chamber 1620, and the division varies depending on the position of the piston valve 1400 within the tube 1510. The compression chamber 1610 is positioned closer to the lower side of the tube 1510 than the springback chamber 1620.
[0037] The elastic module 1100 may include an upper guide member (e.g., an upper guide or an upper guide elastic member) 1110, a first elastic member (e.g., a first elastic member) 1120, a central guide member (e.g., a central guide or a central guide elastic member) 1130, a second elastic member (e.g., a second elastic member) 1140, and a lower guide member (e.g., a lower guide or a lower guide elastic member) 1150.
[0038] The first elastic member 1120 and the second elastic member 1140 are used to provide damping force by means of their elasticity during the compression process in which the piston valve 1400 moves in a second direction (e.g., downward). The second direction may be, for example, but is not limited to, a direction toward the compression chamber 1610.
[0039] Both the first elastic member 1120 and the second elastic member 1140 can be implemented as an elastic body such as a spring. The elastic modulus of each of the first elastic member 1120 and the second elastic member 1140 can be selectively set with reference to the type of equipment in which the shock absorber 1000 is to be installed and the damping force and response sensitivity required by the equipment.
[0040] During the compression process of the shock absorber 1000, the second elastic member 1140 is compressed first, followed by the first elastic member 1120. Given this configuration, the first elastic member 1120 can have a larger elastic modulus than the second elastic member 1140.
[0041] The first elastic member 1120 may be disposed in the first region 1611 of the compression chamber 1610, and the second elastic member 1140 may be disposed in the second region 1612 of the compression chamber 1610. Furthermore, the first elastic member 1120 and the second elastic member 1140 may be disposed in series to effectively generate damping force.
[0042] The central guide member 1130 is disposed between the first elastic member 1120 and the second elastic member 1140, and at least a portion of the lower guide member 1150 is disposed below the second elastic member 1140. For example, the central guide member 1130 is disposed below the first elastic member 1120, the second elastic member 1140 is disposed below the central guide member 1130, and the lower guide member 1150 is disposed below the second elastic member 1140.
[0043] The central guide member 1130 is configured to be movable in a first direction and a second direction (e.g., upward and downward directions (the longitudinal direction of pipe 1510 or the direction of movement of piston valve 1400)). Since the central guide member 1130 is disposed between the first elastic member 1120 and the second elastic member 1140 and is movable in the upward and downward directions, the central guide member 1130 can serve as a medium for transmitting compressive and damping forces between the first elastic member 1120 and the second elastic member 1140.
[0044] The first region 1611 and the second region 1612 are defined by the position of the central guide member 1130 according to a first direction or a second direction (e.g., an upward or downward direction). Since the central guide member 1130 moves in the first direction or the second direction (e.g., an upward or downward direction) by the movement of the piston valve 1400, the volume of the first region 1611 and the second region 1612 can be changed by the movement of the central guide member 1130.
[0045] The lower guide member 1150 is disposed below the second elastic member 1140 and supports the lower end of the second elastic member 1140. Since the lower end of the second elastic member 1140 is supported by the lower guide member 1150, the position of the second elastic member 1140 can be stably maintained.
[0046] As described above, the shock absorber 1000 according to this disclosure includes an elastic module 1100. Therefore, during the compression process in which the first elastic member 1120 and the second elastic member 1140 are compressed, the shock absorber 1000 can utilize the damping force generated by the fluid stored in the compression chamber 1610 and the damping force generated by the first elastic member 1120 and the second elastic member 1140. Therefore, this disclosure can increase the damping force while maintaining the size of the shock absorber 1000 or without reducing the size of the shock absorber 1000.
[0047] In an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, the elastic module 1100 may further include a piston ring 1160.
[0048] Piston ring 1160 may be configured to cover or surround the lateral surface of central guide member 1130 and to support upward and downward movement of central guide member 1130. Therefore, piston ring 1160 may have a shape corresponding to the shape of central guide member 1130. To stably mount piston ring 1160 on central guide member 1130, receiving grooves capable of accommodating at least a portion of piston ring 1160 may be formed along the lateral surface of central guide member 1130.
[0049] like Figure 1 and Figure 2As shown, disk module 1200 may include an upper retainer 1210, one or more upper disks 1220, and one or more lower disks 1230.
[0050] The upper retainer 1210 is located below the central guide member 1130. For example... Figure 3 As shown in (a), one or more flow paths (e.g., upper retainer flow path 1212) are formed in the upper retainer 1210 or on the outer surface of the upper retainer 1210, and fluid in the compression chamber 1610 can flow through the upper retainer flow path 1212.
[0051] A through-hole (e.g., upper retainer through-hole 1211) can penetrate the central portion of the upper retainer 1210 in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the upper retainer 1210 (e.g., a first direction, a second direction, or an upward or downward direction). The body pin 1330, which will be described below, can be inserted into or coupled to the upper retainer through-hole 1211 and stably maintain the position of the upper retainer 1210.
[0052] One or more upper plates 1220 are positioned below the upper retainer 1210. For example... Figure 3 As shown in (b), one or more flow paths (e.g., upper plate flow path 1222) are formed in the peripheral surface of the upper plate 1220. The upper plate flow path 1222 may communicate with the upper retainer flow path 1212 of the upper retainer 1210 and provide a path or flow route through which fluid can flow.
[0053] A through-hole (e.g., upper plate through-hole 1221) can penetrate the central portion of the upper plate 1220 in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the upper plate 1220 (e.g., a first direction or a second direction, or an upward or downward direction). The body pin 1330, which will be described below, can be inserted into or coupled to the upper plate through-hole 1221 and stably support the position of the upper plate 1220.
[0054] One or more lower plate 1230s are set below upper plate 1220. For example... Figure 3 As shown in (c), a through-hole (e.g., lower plate through-hole 1231) can penetrate the central portion of the lower plate 1230 in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the lower plate 1230 (e.g., a first direction or a second direction, or an upward or downward direction). The body pin 1330, which will be described below, can be inserted into or coupled to the lower plate through-hole 1231 and stably support the position of the lower plate 1230.
[0055] When the piston valve 1400 moves in a second direction (e.g., downward) during the compression process, the fluid stored in the first region 1611 passes through a through-hole formed in the central guide member 1130 (e.g., Figure 6The fluid flows through the central guide hole 1132 and along the path defined by the upper retainer flow path 1212 and the upper plate flow path 1222. Therefore, hydraulic pressure can be generated by the flow of fluid.
[0056] As the compression process continues and the piston valve 1400 moves further in a second direction (e.g., downward), the hydraulic pressure can be further increased by the flow of fluid. When the hydraulic pressure is equal to or higher than the limit hydraulic pressure (i.e., the preset hydraulic pressure) or exceeds the limit hydraulic pressure, internal components may be damaged or their shape may be altered, resulting in a deterioration in the performance of the shock absorber.
[0057] To address this issue, the upper plate 1220 and the lower plate 1230 are configured to temporarily deform their shape when the applied hydraulic pressure is equal to or higher than the ultimate hydraulic pressure or exceeds the ultimate hydraulic pressure (e.g., but not limited to, the entire surface or part of the surface of the plate may be deformed to tilt downward or bend).
[0058] When the upper plate 1220 and the lower plate 1230 bend downwards, a new flow path (or bypass flow path) for the fluid can be formed, such that the applied hydraulic pressure can be reduced to the ultimate hydraulic pressure or less. This new flow path is not formed when the upper plate 1220 and / or the lower plate 1230 are not bent in the second direction, or does not exist before the upper plate 1220 and the lower plate 1230 bend.
[0059] The shock absorber 1000 according to this disclosure includes discs in a disc module, which can temporarily deform in shape according to the magnitude of the applied hydraulic pressure, so that damage to internal components or deterioration of performance can be prevented even when a hydraulic pressure equal to or higher than the limit hydraulic pressure is applied.
[0060] When a relatively high hydraulic pressure is applied, the limiting hydraulic pressure needs to increase to create a bypass flow path. Conversely, when a relatively low hydraulic pressure is applied, the limiting hydraulic pressure needs to decrease to create a bypass flow path.
[0061] The ultimate hydraulic pressure can be set according to the number of upper plates 1220. For example, the ultimate hydraulic pressure increases as the number of upper plates 1220 increases, and decreases as the number of upper plates 1220 decreases.
[0062] The ultimate hydraulic pressure can also be set according to the number of lower plates 1230. For example, the ultimate hydraulic pressure increases as the number of lower plates 1230 increases, and decreases as the number of lower plates 1230 decreases.
[0063] Furthermore, the ultimate hydraulic pressure can be set based on both the number of upper plates 1220 and the number of lower plates 1230. For example, as the number of upper plates 1220 and lower plates 1230 increases, the ultimate hydraulic pressure increases; and as the number of upper plates 1220 and lower plates 1230 decreases, the ultimate hydraulic pressure decreases.
[0064] Meanwhile, in order for the upper plate 1220 and the lower plate 1230 to deform or bend in a second direction (e.g., downward), space is needed for deforming or bending the upper plate 1220 and / or the lower plate 1230. This space for deformation or bending can be formed by arranging a portion of the surface of the lower plate 1230 (e.g., the peripheral surface) spaced apart from the upper surface of the lower guide member 1150.
[0065] For example, two exemplary structures can be considered to form spaces for deforming or bending the upper plate 1220 and / or the lower plate 1230.
[0066] The first exemplary structure is one that extends upward from the central portion of the upper surface of the lower guide member 1150 and is configured to support the periphery of the lower plate through-hole 1231. The second exemplary structure is configured by one or more individual members (e.g., one or more lower retainers 1240) that allow the lower plate 1230 to be spaced apart from the lower guide member 1150.
[0067] The lower retainer 1240 is disposed between the lower plate 1230 and the lower guide member 1150 to allow the lower plate 1230 and the lower guide member 1150 to be spaced apart from each other, thereby ensuring the space defined by the lower retainer 1240 for deformation or bending.
[0068] The length (or height) of the space for deformation or bending based on a first or second direction (e.g., upward or downward) is determined according to the number of lower retainers 1240, which determines the size of the bypass flow path (or the degree to which the upper and lower plates can bend).
[0069] For example, when a relatively large number of lower retainers 1240 are disposed between the lower platen 1230 and the lower guide member 1150, the height of the bending space is relatively large, and the upper platen 1220 and the lower platen 1230 can be deformed or bent to a great extent, so that a relatively large bypass flow path can be formed.
[0070] As another example, when a relatively small number of lower retainers 1240 are disposed between the lower plate 1230 and the lower guide member 1150, the height of the bending space is relatively small, and the upper plate 1220 and the lower plate 1230 can be slightly deformed or bent, so that a relatively small bypass flow path can be formed.
[0071] The number of lower retainers 1240 can vary depending on the dimensions of the bypass flow path to be formed (e.g., the height of the space for deformation or bending), the dimensions of the shock absorber 1000, and the dimensions of the space for mounting the shock absorber 1000 in the device in which the shock absorber 1000 is mounted.
[0072] The following text will refer to Figures 4 to 7 The lower guide member 1150, the main valve 1300, the central guide member 1130 and the upper guide member 1110 are described in detail.
[0073] like Figure 4 As shown, the lower guide member 1150 may include a lower guide body 1151 and a first lower guide support 1152.
[0074] A through hole (e.g., lower guide through hole 1155) is formed in the central portion of the lower guide body 1151 along a first direction or a second direction (e.g., upward or downward), and a first lower guide support portion 1152 extends along the peripheral surface of the lower guide member 1150 in the first direction (e.g., upward). The first lower guide support portion 1152 can contact the lower side of the upper retainer 1210 and stably support the upper retainer 1210.
[0075] A recessed portion (e.g., lower guide recessed portion 1153) is formed in the portion (e.g., the central portion) on the upper side of the lower guide member 1150 where the first lower guide support portion 1152 is not formed. The upper plate 1220 and the lower plate 1230 are mounted in the space defined by the lower guide recessed portion 1153, such that the positions of the upper plate 1220 and the lower plate 1230 can be stably maintained.
[0076] One or more flow paths (e.g., lower guide flow path 1154) may be formed in the peripheral surface of the lower guide groove portion 1153 and penetrate the lower guide member 1150 in a first or second direction (e.g., upward or downward).
[0077] When the upper plate 1220 and lower plate 1230 are not deformed or bent, the lower guide flow path 1154 is connected to the upper plate flow path 1222. When the upper plate 1220 and lower plate 1230 are deformed or bent, the lower guide flow path 1154 is connected to the bypass flow path.
[0078] In an exemplary embodiment, the lower guide member 1150 may further include a second lower guide support 1156 extending from the lateral surface of the lower guide body 1151. The lower end of the second elastic member 1140 may contact the second lower guide support 1156, and the second lower guide support 1156 may support the lower end of the second elastic member 1140.
[0079] Additionally, the shock absorber 1000 may include a main valve 1300 disposed below the lower guide member 1150. The main valve 1300 is configured to regulate the amount of fluid flowing from the compression chamber 1610 to the reservoir chamber 1630.
[0080] like Figure 5 As shown, a through hole (e.g., main valve through hole 1310) is formed in the central portion of the main valve 1300, and one or more flow paths (e.g., main valve flow paths) are formed along the periphery of the main valve through hole 1310. In addition, one or more discharge grooves (e.g., main valve discharge groove 1320) are formed in a surface extending downward along the peripheral surface of the main valve 1300.
[0081] The main valve flow path and the main valve discharge groove 1320 are connected to each other, so that the fluid in the compression chamber 1610 can flow through the main valve flow path and the main valve discharge groove 1320 to the storage chamber 1630.
[0082] The lower guide extension 1157 can protrude downward from the lower side of the lower guide member 1150. The lower guide extension 1157 contacts the upper side of the main valve 1300. Therefore, by forming the lower guide extension 1157 on the lower side of the lower guide member 1150, the gap between the main valve 1300 and the lower guide member 1150 can be effectively supported, and there are no additional or separate fixing members between the main valve 1300 and the lower guide member 1150.
[0083] Additionally, the shock absorber 1000 may also include a main pin 1330 and a nut 1340.
[0084] A head with a relatively large diameter is formed on the lower side of the main body pin 1330, and a main body portion with a relatively small diameter is formed on the upper side of the main body pin 1330. The main body portion of the main body pin 1330 has a certain diameter, allowing it to be inserted into the main valve through hole 1310, the lower guide through hole 1155, the lower plate through hole 1231, the upper plate through hole 1221, and the upper retainer through hole 1211.
[0085] The main body of the main body pin 1330 passes through the main valve through hole 1310, the lower guide through hole 1155, the lower plate through hole 1231, the upper plate through hole 1221, and the upper retainer through hole 1211 in sequence. The nut 1340 is connected to the threaded portion formed on the upper side of the main body of the main body pin 1330, so that the main body pin 1330 can be fixed.
[0086] Therefore, the main valve through hole 1310, the lower guide through hole 1155, the lower plate through hole 1231, the upper plate through hole 1221 and the upper retainer through hole 1211 can be coaxially and compactly connected to the main body pin 1330 through their connection structure, so that the connection between them can be stably maintained.
[0087] In an exemplary embodiment, the shock absorber 1000 may further include a washer 1350 disposed between the nut 1340 and the upper retainer 1210. The washer 1350 is connected to the body pin 1330 through a through hole formed in the central portion of the washer 1350, such that the connection between the body pin 1330 and the nut 1340 can be supported and prevented from being released due to vibration.
[0088] like Figure 6 As shown, the central guide member 1130 may include a central guide body 1131, a first central guide support 1133, and a second central guide support 1134.
[0089] A through-hole (e.g., central guide through-hole 1132) is formed in the central guide body 1131 along a first direction or a second direction (e.g., upward or downward). Fluid can flow through the central guide through-hole 1132 between the first region 1611 and the second region 1612.
[0090] The first central guide support 1133 is recessed along the upper outer surface of the central guide body 1131. The lower part of the first elastic member 1120 is mounted on the first central guide support 1133, so that the position of the first elastic member 1120 can be stably supported by the first central guide support 1133.
[0091] The second central guide support 1134 protrudes from the lower part of the central guide body 1131. The second central guide support 1134 is inserted into a portion of the upper side of the second elastic member 1140, so that the position of the second elastic member 1140 can be stably supported by the second central guide support 1134.
[0092] The elastic module 1100 may further include an upper guide member 1110 disposed between the piston valve 1400 and the first elastic member 1120, and the elastic module 1100 may be moved in a first direction and a second direction (e.g., upward and downward directions) by the movement of the piston valve 1400.
[0093] like Figure 7 As shown, the upper guide member 1110 may include an upper guide body 1111, an upper guide support 1113, and one or more protrusions (e.g., one or more upper guide protrusions 1114).
[0094] A through-hole (e.g., upper guide through-hole 1112) is formed in the upper guide body 1111 along a first direction or a second direction (e.g., upward or downward), and a portion of the lower part of the piston rod 1410 can be inserted into the upper guide through-hole 1112 according to the movement of the piston valve 1400 or the upper guide body 1111. Therefore, unnecessary leftward and rightward movements of the piston rod 1410 can be limited or constrained, so that the upward and downward movements of the piston valve 1400 can be performed stably.
[0095] The upper guide support portion 1113 of the upper guide member 1110 protrudes along the lower peripheral surface of the upper guide body 1111. The upper guide support portion 1113 is inserted into a portion of the upper side of the first elastic member 1120, so that the position of the first elastic member 1120 can be stably supported by the upper guide support portion 1113.
[0096] The upper guide protrusions 1114 of the upper guide member 1110 protrude along the upper peripheral surface of the upper guide body 1111 and are spaced apart from each other. During the compression process, the upper guide protrusions 1114 can contact the piston valve 1400, and thus the downward movement of the piston valve 1400 is transmitted to other components located below the piston valve 1400.
[0097] A flow path (e.g., upper guide flow path 1115) is formed on the upper outer surface of the upper guide body 1111, at a location where the upper guide protrusion 1114 is not formed. The upper guide flow path 1115 communicates with a flow path (not shown) formed in the piston valve 1400. Therefore, fluid in the first region 1611 can flow to the outside of the compression chamber 1610, for example, through the upper guide flow path 1115 and the flow path formed in the piston valve 1400 to the rebound chamber 1620.
[0098] The following text will refer to Figures 8 to 10 Describe in detail the process of providing damping force during compression and the process of forming a bypass path.
[0099] like Figure 8 As shown, when the compression process begins, the piston valve 1400 moves in a second direction (e.g., downward) where it presses against the first elastic member 1120 and the second elastic member 1140. When the stroke of the piston valve 1400 is equal to or greater than a predetermined stroke, the piston valve 1400 contacts the upper guide member 1110.
[0100] Since the elastic modulus of the first elastic member 1120 is greater than that of the second elastic member 1140, the compression of the second elastic member 1140 begins first after the piston valve 1400 comes into contact with the upper guide member 1110.
[0101] In this case, after the fluid in the compression chamber 1610 passes through the central guide through-hole 1132 of the central guide body 1131, the fluid flows to the storage chamber 1630 along a first route through the space between the lower guide member 1150 and the main valve 1300 and a second route through the upper retainer 1210, the upper plate flow path 1222 and the lower guide flow path 1154 in sequence.
[0102] As the compression process continues, the first elastic member 1120 begins to be compressed. As the first elastic member 1120 is compressed, the central guide member 1130 contacts the upper retainer 1210, as... Figure 9 As shown in the image.
[0103] In this configuration, the first path through the space between the lower guide member 1150 and the main valve 1300 is blocked, and the fluid in the compression chamber 1610 passes through the central guide orifice 1132 and then along the second path that sequentially passes through the upper retainer 1210, the upper plate flow path 1222, and the lower guide flow path 1154 (see...). Figure 10 (a) flows to the storage chamber 1630. Hydraulic pressure can be generated by the flow of fluid.
[0104] When the compression process continues, fluid in the chamber (first region) where the first elastic member 1120 is disposed is discharged through the upper guide flow path 1115 and the upper plate flow path 1222 (see...). Figure 10 (a)) allows hydraulic pressure to be generated. In this case, a damping force is applied by the elastic force of the first elastic member 1120.
[0105] When the hydraulic pressure further increases and becomes equal to or higher than the ultimate hydraulic pressure (when the applied hydraulic pressure is equal to or higher than the ultimate hydraulic pressure), a bypass flow path is formed due to the downward deformation, bending, or folding of the upper plate 1220 and the lower plate 1230, such as... Figure 10 As shown in (b).
[0106] In this case, fluid is discharged through the upper retainer 1210 in sequence. Figure 10 The bypass flow path and the third route of the lower guide flow path 1154 shown in (b) enable the hydraulic pressure that is equal to or higher than the ultimate hydraulic pressure or exceeds the ultimate hydraulic pressure to be reduced.
[0107] Implementation Method 2
[0108] Embodiment 2 relates to a shock absorber 2000 in which a disc is configured to bend downward and is provided as a two-stage assembly including a first stage and a second stage, such that even if the disc bends downward in the first stage, a hydraulic pressure of a predetermined magnitude can be generated.
[0109] Figure 11 This is a cross-sectional view of the shock absorber according to Embodiment 2 of this disclosure. Figure 12 This is an exploded perspective view of the shock absorber according to Embodiment 2 of this disclosure, and Figure 13 This is an exploded perspective view of the disk module according to Embodiment 2 of this disclosure.
[0110] like Figure 11 and Figure 12 As shown, the shock absorber 2000 may include a tube 2510, a piston valve 2400, an elastic module 2100, and a disc module 2200.
[0111] The tube 2510 is filled with fluid and is disposed inside the shock absorber body 2500. The tube 2510 is spaced apart from the inner surface of the shock absorber body 2500. For example, an air gap may be formed between the tube 2510 and the shock absorber body 2500. A reservoir chamber 2630 is formed in the space defined by the spaced-apart tubes 2510 and the shock absorber body 2500.
[0112] The piston valve 2400 is configured to move within the tube 2510 in a first direction and a second direction (e.g., upward and downward). The space within the tube 2510 is divided by the piston valve 2400 into a compression chamber 2610 and a springback chamber 2620, and the division varies depending on the position of the piston valve 2400 within the tube 2510. The compression chamber 2610 is positioned closer to the lower side of the tube 2510 than the springback chamber 2620.
[0113] The elastic module 2100 may include a first elastic member (e.g., a first elastic element) 2120, a central guide member (e.g., a central guide or a central guide elastic element) 2130, a second elastic member (e.g., a second elastic element) 2140, and a lower guide member (e.g., a lower guide or a lower guide elastic element) 2150.
[0114] The first elastic member 2120 and the second elastic member 2140 are used to provide damping force by using their elastic force during the compression process in which the piston valve 2400 moves in a second direction (e.g., downward). The second direction may be, for example, but is not limited to, a direction toward the compression chamber 2610.
[0115] Both the first elastic member 2120 and the second elastic member 2140 can be implemented as elastic bodies such as springs. The elastic modulus of each of the first elastic member 2120 and the second elastic member 2140 can be selectively set with reference to the type of equipment in which the shock absorber 2000 is to be installed and the damping force and response sensitivity required by the equipment.
[0116] During the compression process of the shock absorber 2000, the second elastic member 2140 is compressed first, followed by the first elastic member 2120. Given this configuration, the first elastic member 2120 can have a larger elastic modulus than the second elastic member 2140.
[0117] The first elastic member 2120 can be disposed in the first region 2611 of the compression chamber 2610, and the second elastic member 2140 can be disposed in the second region 2612 of the compression chamber 2610. Furthermore, the first elastic member 2120 and the second elastic member 2140 can be arranged in series to effectively generate damping force.
[0118] The central guide member 2130 is disposed between the first elastic member 2120 and the second elastic member 2140, and at least a portion of the lower guide member 2150 is disposed below the second elastic member 2140. For example, the central guide member 2130 is disposed below the first elastic member 2120, the second elastic member 2140 is disposed below the central guide member 2130, and the lower guide member 2150 is disposed below the second elastic member 2140.
[0119] The central guide member 2130 is configured to be movable in a first direction and a second direction (e.g., upward and downward). Since the central guide member 2130 is disposed between the first elastic member 2120 and the second elastic member 2140 and is movable in the upward and downward directions, the central guide member 2130 can be used as a medium for transmitting compressive and damping forces between the first elastic member 2120 and the second elastic member 2140.
[0120] The first region 2611 and the second region 2612 are defined by the position of the central guide member 2130 according to a first direction or a second direction (e.g., an upward or downward direction). Since the central guide member 2130 moves in the first direction or the second direction (e.g., an upward or downward direction) by the movement of the piston valve 2400, the volume of the first region 2611 and the second region 2612 can be changed by the movement of the central guide member 2130.
[0121] The lower guide member 2150 is disposed below the second elastic member 2140 and supports the lower end of the second elastic member 2140. Since the lower end of the second elastic member 2140 is supported by the lower guide member 2150, the position of the second elastic member 2140 can be stably maintained.
[0122] As described above, the shock absorber 2000 according to this disclosure includes an elastic module 2100. Therefore, during a compression process in which the first elastic member 2120 and the second elastic member 2140 are compressed, the shock absorber 2000 can utilize the damping force generated by the fluid stored in the compression chamber 2610 and the damping force generated by the first elastic member 2120 and the second elastic member 2140. Therefore, some exemplary embodiments of this disclosure can increase the damping force while maintaining or without reducing the size of the shock absorber 2000.
[0123] In an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, the elastic module 2100 may further include a piston ring 2160.
[0124] Piston ring 2160 may be configured to cover or surround the lateral surface of central guide member 2130 and to support upward and downward movement of central guide member 2130. Therefore, piston ring 2160 may have a shape corresponding to the shape of central guide member 2130. To stably mount piston ring 2160 on central guide member 2130, receiving grooves capable of accommodating at least a portion of piston ring 2160 may be formed along the lateral surface of central guide member 2130.
[0125] like Figure 11 and Figure 12 As shown, disk module 2200 may include a first disk module 2210 and a second disk module 2220. That is, disk module 2200 may include multiple disks, which may be configured in a two-level manner or functionally divided into two disk modules.
[0126] The first plate module 2210 may include an upper retainer 2211, one or more first upper plates 2212, and one or more first lower plates 2213.
[0127] The upper retainer 2211 is located below the central guide member 2130. For example... Figure 13 As shown in (a), one or more flow paths (e.g., upper retainer flow path 2211-2) are formed in the peripheral surface of the upper retainer 2211, and fluid in the compression chamber 2610 can flow through the upper retainer flow path 2211-2.
[0128] A through-hole (e.g., upper retainer through-hole 2211-1) can penetrate the central portion of the upper retainer 2211 in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the upper retainer 2211 (e.g., a first direction, a second direction, or an upward or downward direction). The body pin 2310, which will be described below, can be inserted into or coupled to the upper retainer through-hole 2211-1 and stably fix the position of the upper retainer 2211.
[0129] One or more first upper plates 2212 are disposed below the upper retainer 2211. For example... Figure 13 As shown in (b), one or more flow paths (e.g., first upper plate flow path 2212-2) are formed in the peripheral surface of the first upper plate 2212. The first upper plate flow path 2212-2 may communicate with the first upper retainer flow path 2211-2 of the upper retainer 2211 and provide a path through which fluid can flow.
[0130] A through-hole (e.g., first upper plate through-hole 2212-1) can penetrate the central portion of the first upper plate 2212 in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the first upper plate 2212 (e.g., a first direction, a second direction, or an upward or downward direction). The body pin 2310, which will be described below, can be inserted into or coupled to the first upper plate through-hole 2212-1 and stably support the position of the first upper plate 2212.
[0131] One or more first lower plates 2213 are positioned below the first upper plate 2212. For example... Figure 13 As shown in (c), a through-hole (e.g., first lower plate through-hole 2213-1) can penetrate the central portion of the first lower plate 2213 in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the first lower plate 2213 (e.g., a first direction or a second direction, or an upward or downward direction). The body pin 2310, which will be described below, can be inserted into or coupled to the first lower plate through-hole 2213-1 and stably support the position of the first lower plate 2213.
[0132] The second plate module 2220 may include one or more second upper plates 2221 and one or more second lower plates 2222.
[0133] The second upper plate 2221 is set below the first lower plate 2213. For example... Figure 13 As shown in (d), one or more flow paths (e.g., second upper plate flow path 2221-2) are formed in the peripheral surface of the second upper plate 2221. The second upper plate flow path 2221-2 may communicate with the first upper plate flow path 2212-2 and provide a path or flow route for fluid to flow.
[0134] A through-hole (e.g., second upper plate through-hole 2221-1) can penetrate the central portion of the second upper plate 2221 in a first direction or a second direction (e.g., upward or downward). The body pin 2310, which will be described below, can be inserted into or connected to the second upper plate through-hole 2221-1 and stably support the position of the second upper plate 2221.
[0135] The second lower plate 2222 is set below the second upper plate 2221. For example... Figure 13 As shown in (e), a through-hole (e.g., second lower plate through-hole 2222-1) can penetrate the central portion of the second lower plate 2222 in a first direction or a second direction (e.g., upward / downward direction). The body pin 2310, which will be described below, can be engaged with the second lower plate through-hole 2222-1 and stably support the position of the second lower plate 2222.
[0136] When the piston valve 2400 moves in a second direction (e.g., downward) during the compression process, fluid stored in the first region 2611 passes through a through-hole (e.g., a central guide through-hole) formed in the central guide member 2130 and flows along a path defined by the upper retainer flow path 2211-2, the first upper plate flow path 2212-2, and the second upper plate flow path 2221-2. Therefore, hydraulic pressure can be generated by the flow of fluid.
[0137] The second upper plate 2221 and the second lower plate 2222 may have circumferences (e.g., horizontal cross-sectional areas) larger than those of the first upper plate 2212 and the first lower plate 2213, respectively. This allows the fluid to generate hydraulic pressure while moving along a path defined by the upper retainer flow path 2211-2, the first upper plate flow path 2212-2, and the second upper plate flow path 2221-2.
[0138] As the compression process continues and the piston valve 2400 moves further in a second direction (e.g., downward), the hydraulic pressure can be further increased by the flow of fluid. When the hydraulic pressure is equal to or higher than the limit hydraulic pressure (i.e., the preset hydraulic pressure) or exceeds the limit hydraulic pressure, internal components may be damaged or their shape may be altered, leading to a deterioration in the performance of the shock absorber.
[0139] To address this problem, the first upper plate 2212 and the first lower plate 2213, as well as the second upper plate 2221 and the second lower plate 2222, are configured to be temporarily deformable in shape when the applied hydraulic pressure is equal to or higher than the ultimate hydraulic pressure or exceeds the ultimate hydraulic pressure (e.g., but not limited to, the entire surface or part of the surface of the plate may be deformed to tilt downward or bend).
[0140] When the first upper plate 2212 and the first lower plate 2213, as well as the second upper plate 2221 and the second lower plate 2222, bend downwards, a new flow path (or bypass flow path) for the fluid can be formed, such that the applied hydraulic pressure can be reduced to the ultimate hydraulic pressure or less. This new flow path is not formed when the plates are not bent in the second direction, or does not exist before the plates bend.
[0141] The shock absorber 2000 according to this disclosure includes discs in a disc module, which can be temporarily deformed in shape according to the magnitude of the applied hydraulic pressure, so that damage to internal components or deterioration of performance can be prevented even when a hydraulic pressure equal to or higher than the limit hydraulic pressure is applied.
[0142] In an exemplary embodiment, a limiting hydraulic pressure (i.e., a first limiting hydraulic pressure or, for example, a preset first hydraulic pressure) that causes the first upper plate 2212 and the first lower plate 2213 to bend downwards may be equal to or different from another limiting hydraulic pressure (i.e., a second limiting hydraulic pressure or, for example, a preset second hydraulic pressure) that causes the second upper plate 2221 and the second lower plate 2222 to bend downwards.
[0143] When the values of the first hydraulic pressure and the second hydraulic pressure are different from each other, the first upper plate 2212 and the first lower plate 2213, as well as the second upper plate 2221 and the second lower plate 2222, can be bent in a stepped manner.
[0144] For example, assuming the first hydraulic pressure is lower than the second hydraulic pressure, when the applied hydraulic pressure has a value between the first hydraulic pressure and the second hydraulic pressure, only the first upper plate 2212 and the first lower plate 2213 bend downward to define a bypass flow path (e.g., a first bypass flow path), while the second upper plate 2221 and the second lower plate 2222 do not bend.
[0145] When the applied hydraulic pressure is equal to or higher than the second hydraulic pressure, or exceeds the second hydraulic pressure, the second upper plate 2221 and the second lower plate 2222 also bend to define a bypass flow path (e.g., a second bypass flow path).
[0146] When applied as described above, in which the discs are deformed into a stepped bend, even when only the first upper disc 2212 and the first lower disc 2213 bend downwards, a hydraulic pressure with a predetermined value or greater can be provided by the fluid flowing through the flow path 2221-2 of the second upper disc. Therefore, a higher damping force can be provided.
[0147] The first hydraulic pressure can be set according to one or both of the number of first upper plates 2212 and the number of first lower plates 2213. Furthermore, the second hydraulic pressure can be set according to one or both of the number of second upper plates 2221 and the number of second lower plates 2222.
[0148] In an exemplary embodiment, the first plate module 2210 may further include one or more first lower retainers 2214 disposed between the first lower plate 2213 and the second upper plate 2221 to ensure or form a space for deforming or bending the first upper plate 2212 and the first lower plate 2213.
[0149] The second plate module 2220 may also include one or more second lower retainers 2223 disposed between the second lower plate 2222 and the lower guide member 2150 to ensure or form space for deforming or bending the second upper plate 2221 and the second lower plate 2222.
[0150] The number of lower retainers 2214 and 2223 can vary depending on the dimensions of the bypass flow path to be formed (e.g., the height of the space for deformation or bending), the dimensions of the shock absorber 2000, and the dimensions of the space for mounting the shock absorber 2000 in the device in which the shock absorber 2000 is mounted.
[0151] The specific structure and arrangement of the lower guide member 2150, the main valve 2300, the central guide member 2130, and the upper guide member 2110 are as follows: Figures 4 to 5 The lower guide member 1150, main valve 1300, central guide member 1130, and upper guide member 1110 described herein have the same or similar structure and arrangement. Therefore, detailed descriptions of the lower guide member 2150, main valve 2300, central guide member 2130, and upper guide member 2110 will be omitted.
[0152] The process of forming the bypass flow path of the shock absorber 2000 will be described below with reference to Figure 14.
[0153] When the compression process begins, the piston valve 2400 moves in a second direction (e.g., downward) while pressing against the first elastic member 2120 and the second elastic member 2140. When the stroke of the piston valve 2400 is equal to or greater than a predetermined stroke, the piston valve 2400 contacts the upper guide member 2110.
[0154] Since the elastic modulus of the first elastic member 2120 is greater than that of the second elastic member 2140, the compression of the second elastic member 2140 begins first after the piston valve 2400 comes into contact with the upper guide member 2110.
[0155] In this case, after the fluid in the compression chamber 2610 passes through the through hole (e.g., central guide through hole 2132) formed in the central guide member 2130, the fluid flows to the storage chamber 2630 along a first route through the space between the lower guide member 2150 and the main valve 2300 and a second route through the upper retainer 2211, the first upper plate flow path 2212-2, the second upper plate flow path 2221-2 and the lower guide flow path 2154 in sequence.
[0156] During the continuous compression process, the first elastic member 2120 begins to be compressed. As the first elastic member 2120 is compressed, the central guide member 2130 comes into contact with the upper retainer 2211.
[0157] In this case, such as Figure 14A As shown, the first path through the space between the lower guide member 2150 and the main valve 2300 is blocked, and the fluid in the compression chamber 2610 flows through the central guide orifice 2132 and then along a second path that passes sequentially through the upper retainer 2211, the first upper plate flow path 2212-2, the second upper plate flow path 2221-2, and the lower guide flow path 2154 to the reservoir chamber 2630. Hydraulic pressure can be generated by the flow of fluid.
[0158] When the compression process continues, fluid in the chamber (first region) where the first elastic member 2120 is disposed is discharged through the flow path (upper guide flow path) formed in the upper guide member 2110, the first upper plate flow path 2212-2 and the second upper plate flow path 2221-2, thereby generating hydraulic pressure. In this case, a damping force is applied by the elastic force of the first elastic member 2120.
[0159] When the hydraulic pressure further increases and becomes equal to or higher than the ultimate hydraulic pressure, or exceeds the ultimate hydraulic pressure, a bypass flow path is formed due to the downward deformation, bending, or folding of the first upper plate 2212 and the first lower plate 2213. Figure 14B As shown in the image.
[0160] In this case, fluid is discharged through the upper retainer 2211 and the first bypass flow path ( Figure 14B and Figure 14C The bypass 1) and the third route of the lower guide flow path 2154 allow the hydraulic pressure that is equal to or higher than the ultimate hydraulic pressure or exceeds the ultimate hydraulic pressure to be reduced. However, even in this case, the second upper plate 2221 and the second lower plate 2222 do not change to bend, so that hydraulic pressure generated by the flow of fluid through the flow path 2221-2 of the second upper plate can be provided.
[0161] When the hydraulic pressure is increased through a continuous compression process (the applied hydraulic pressure becomes equal to, higher than, or exceeds the second hydraulic pressure), even if a first bypass flow path is formed, the second upper plate 2221 and the second lower plate 222 also bend in a second direction (e.g., downward), allowing the second bypass flow path to deform, such as... Figure 14C As shown in the image.
[0162] In this case, fluid is discharged through the upper retainer 2211, the first bypass flow path, and the second bypass flow path in sequence. Figure 14C The bypass 2) and the fourth route of the lower guide flow path 2154 enable the hydraulic pressure that is equal to or higher than the second hydraulic pressure or exceeds the second hydraulic pressure to be reduced.
