Description

Technical Field

[0001] The embodiments of this disclosure generally relate to the field of vehicles, and more specifically, to warning devices for vehicles. Background Technology

[0002] Vehicles such as electric vehicles are those powered by an onboard power source, using an electric motor to drive the wheels, and meeting all road traffic and safety regulations. Due to their relatively smaller environmental impact compared to traditional cars, their prospects are widely viewed as promising. Electric vehicles can be categorized into pure electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles.

[0003] Taking pure electric vehicles as an example, the batteries that power the car are usually located on the underside of the vehicle. Because batteries are prone to short circuits and even explosions when damaged, they are typically housed in components such as a bottom casing to protect them from damage. Even so, protruding obstacles on the ground (such as stones) can still damage the casing and enter the battery pack or cooling system, potentially causing a short circuit or overheating, leading to a fire or explosion.

[0004] Traditional solutions include self-reinforcing and blocking methods to prevent damage to the battery housing, but neither of these methods can fundamentally solve this technical problem. Summary of the Invention

[0005] Embodiments of this disclosure provide a warning device and a vehicle for use in order to at least partially address the aforementioned problems and other potential problems existing in the prior art.

[0006] In one aspect of this disclosure, a warning device for a vehicle is provided. The warning device includes at least one warning circuit adapted to be triggered in the event of a risk of breakage in a bottom housing for carrying collision-sensitive components of the vehicle; and a coupling member adapted to couple the at least one warning circuit to at least one controller of the vehicle to send a warning message indicating a risk of breakage in the bottom housing upon triggering any of the at least one warning circuit.

[0007] In some embodiments, the conditions under which the warning circuit is triggered include the warning circuit being disconnected.

[0008] In some embodiments, the at least one warning circuit is at a first height above the ground, and the lowest point of the bottom housing is at a second height above the ground, wherein the first height is less than or equal to the second height.

[0009] In some embodiments, the projection of the at least one warning circuit in the driving direction at least covers the bottom housing.

[0010] In some embodiments, the at least one warning circuit includes a breakable wire or a breakable interface, the breakable wire or interface being configured to break or disconnect when the vehicle comes into contact with a foreign object while traveling at a predetermined speed.

[0011] In some embodiments, the conditions under which the warning circuit is triggered also include the vehicle's speed being greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold.

[0012] In some embodiments, the at least one warning circuit is arranged in front of the bottom housing relative to the vehicle's direction of travel, and includes multiple warning circuits that extend in a vertical direction perpendicular to the direction of travel and are spaced at different distances from the bottom housing.

[0013] In some embodiments, the multiple warning circuits are adapted to issue different levels of warning information based on the distance between the triggered warning circuit and the bottom housing when triggered.

[0014] In some embodiments, the plurality of warning circuits includes a first warning circuit located at a first distance from the bottom housing and adapted to issue a first-level warning message when triggered, the first-level warning message including issuing a braking prompt sound.

[0015] In some embodiments, the plurality of warning circuits further includes a second warning circuit, which is located at a second distance from the bottom housing, the second distance being less than the first distance, and is adapted to issue a second-level warning message when triggered, so that the corresponding controller sends an emergency braking signal to the vehicle's braking system.

[0016] In some embodiments, the multiple warning circuits further include a third warning circuit, which is located at a third distance from the bottom housing, the third distance being less than the second distance, and is adapted to issue a third-level warning message when triggered, wherein the second-level warning message sends a warning message to the vehicle network control of the vehicle.

[0017] In some embodiments, the at least one warning circuit includes a sensor for sensing distance from the ground, and the warning circuit is triggered when the distance sensed by the sensor is less than a predetermined threshold.

[0018] In some embodiments, the sensor is arranged such that its sensing surface is at a third height from the ground, the lowest point of the bottom housing is at a second height from the ground, the third height is less than or equal to the second height, and the predetermined threshold is equal to the difference between the second height and the third height.

[0019] In some embodiments, the collision-sensitive component is a power battery for the vehicle.

[0020] In a second aspect of this disclosure, a vehicle is provided. The vehicle includes a bottom housing for carrying collision-sensitive components of the vehicle; and a warning device according to the first aspect described above.

[0021] In some embodiments, the warning device is disposed on one side of the vehicle near the ground, at least one of the vehicle's lower guard plate, deflector, and bottom housing.

Other features of this disclosure will become readily apparent from the following description. Attached Figure Description

[0023] The above-mentioned objects and other objects, features and advantages of this disclosure will become more apparent from the following description of exemplary embodiments of this disclosure in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which the same reference numerals generally denote the same parts.

[0024] Figure 1 and Figure 2 A partial schematic diagram of the vehicle's bottom and sides is shown;

[0025] Figure 3 and Figure 4 Partial schematic diagrams of the bottom and sides of a vehicle according to this disclosure are shown; and

[0026] Figure 5 A flowchart illustrating the warning and braking processes of a vehicle warning device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is shown. Detailed Implementation

[0027] The principles of this disclosure will now be described with reference to various exemplary embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings. It should be understood that the description of these embodiments is merely intended to enable those skilled in the art to better understand and further implement this disclosure, and is not intended to limit the scope of this disclosure in any way. It should be noted that similar or identical reference numerals may be used in the figures where feasible, and similar or identical reference numerals may denote similar or identical functions. Those skilled in the art will readily recognize that alternative embodiments of the structures and methods described herein may be employed without departing from the principles of this disclosure as described herein.

[0028] During vehicle operation, some components, such as the fuel tank, oil pan, and battery pack, are typically located on the bottom side close to the ground and are at risk of damage from ground protrusions (such as stones). These components will be referred to herein as collision-sensitive components. The following description will primarily use the electric vehicle's battery or battery pack as an example of a collision-sensitive component to illustrate the concepts according to this disclosure. It should be understood that the same principle applies to other components that are collision-sensitive, and these will not be elaborated upon further below.

[0029] Figure 1 The image shows a bottom view of a vehicle 200, such as an electric vehicle. Figure 2 A partial side view of an electric vehicle is shown, illustrating that, in addition to essential components such as tires, the vehicle also includes a bottom housing, frame, subframe deflectors, and lower guard plates to house collision-sensitive components such as batteries or battery packs. It should be understood that the bottom housing mentioned here can be an integral component assembled with the battery, such as the battery pack's own housing, or a housing specifically designed to house the battery pack.

[0030] It should also be understood that the terms "front" and "rear" used in this article are relative to the vehicle's direction of travel. "Front" refers to the direction from the rear of the vehicle towards the front, while "rear" is the opposite, referring to the direction from the front of the vehicle towards the rear. Furthermore, the terms "top" and "bottom" are relative to the vehicle's position when it is normally parked or moving on the ground. "Lateral" and "longitudinal" are also relative to the vehicle; "lateral" refers to a direction perpendicular to the vehicle's direction of travel, while "longitudinal" refers to the direction the vehicle extends, that is, roughly parallel to the vehicle's direction of travel.

[0031] like Figure 1 and Figure 2 As shown, components such as the battery pack in electric vehicles are typically located near the vehicle's chassis due to considerations such as large-area layout. The air deflector and lower guard plate are sequentially arranged on the bottom shell of the vehicle in the direction of travel (i.e., the front of the vehicle). For the battery or battery pack housed in the bottom shell, if there are protrusions on the ground during vehicle operation, the battery pack and / or its cooling circuits are at risk of being intruded and damaged by these protrusions, potentially causing short circuits and poor heat dissipation, which could ultimately lead to an explosion.

[0032] In traditional solutions, in order to prevent the bottom shell and the battery or battery pack accommodated therein from being damaged by ground protrusions, there are blocking solutions and self-strengthening solutions. The so-called blocking solution refers to adding a component in front of the bottom shell that can block the protrusion to prevent the protrusion from damaging the bottom shell and the battery and battery pack therein. Specifically, in some blocking solutions, a transverse blocking member is added under the subframe body (i.e., in front of the bottom shell), which has a downward protruding feature and a height lower than the bottom surface of the bottom shell, so as to block the protrusions that may damage the bottom shell and protect the subsequent bottom shell and the battery pack and cooling circuit therein from being damaged.

[0033] Another solution is to use a vehicle lateral stabilizer bar that is lower than the subframe and the bottom shell, which can also block protrusions in front of the bottom shell. This solution can block obstacles to a certain extent when the vehicle speed is relatively low (for example, less than 15 km / h), causing the vehicle to decelerate or stop. However, when the vehicle speed is relatively high, this solution can at most only decelerate the vehicle and cannot stop the vehicle, and the protrusion may still invade the bottom shell, battery pack, and / or cooling circuit, and cannot fundamentally avoid damage to the battery pack.

[0034] In addition, this solution is restricted by specific arrangements such as the subframe and suspension, and it is difficult to be widely applicable. This solution also increases the material and installation costs due to the addition of components related to blocking.

[0035] The self-strengthening solution, as the name implies, is to strengthen the strength of the bottom shell or the battery pack, so that it will not invade the battery interior when there are protrusions. Specifically, in some solutions, the height of the front cross member of the battery pack or the bottom shell is increased, the cross-sectional shape of the cross member is changed to a "day" shape or an "eye" shape, and cross members or longitudinal beams are added inside the battery pack frame, and thickening materials are provided at the bottom to improve the strength of the battery pack or the bottom shell. On the one hand, this increases the size of the bottom shell, thereby reducing the overall energy density of the battery pack. On the other hand, when the strength of the protrusion is relatively high, there is still a risk that the protrusion will damage the bottom shell and invade the battery pack, and the problem of the battery pack being invaded cannot be fundamentally solved.

[0036] To solve or at least partially solve the above or other potential problems in the traditional solutions, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a warning device for a vehicle is provided. The warning device according to the embodiment of the present disclosure can start from the aspects of the driver's subjective judgment and active safety equipment. When there is a risk that may affect the safety of collision-sensitive components such as the battery, it can provide effective warning information for the driver to perceive, to remind the driver to brake or in some cases actively intervene in braking to decelerate and stop the vehicle, thereby avoiding the safety risks caused to collision-sensitive components such as the battery.

[0037] Figure 3 and Figure 4 A schematic diagram showing a warning device and its arrangement location according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is provided. Figure 3 and Figure 4 As shown, the warning device according to embodiments of this disclosure generally includes at least one warning circuit 101 and a coupling component 102. At least one warning circuit 101 can be triggered in the event of a risk of breakage of the bottom housing. The bottom housing is the housing mentioned above for carrying collision-sensitive components of the vehicle, such as batteries. When the collision-sensitive component is a battery or battery pack, the bottom housing may be the battery pack itself. That is, in some embodiments, the battery pack may be directly disposed at the bottom of the vehicle, and the bottom housing is the battery pack housing. In some alternative embodiments, the bottom housing may also be an additional bottom housing for accommodating the battery pack.

[0038] Figure 3 and Figure 4 The diagram illustrates at least one warning circuit 101, including three warning circuits 101. It should be understood that this is merely illustrative and not intended to limit the scope of this disclosure; any other suitable number is possible. For example, in some alternative embodiments, the warning device may include only one, two, or more warning circuits 101. The following will primarily focus on… Figure 3 The inventive concept according to this disclosure is described using the example of the three warning circuits 101 shown. It should be understood that the case for other numbers of warning circuits 101 is similar, and will not be described in detail below.

[0039] In some embodiments, the warning circuit 101 may be a 12V low-voltage circuit for coupling to a vehicle controller. The coupling component 102 couples the warning circuit 101 to at least one controller of the vehicle in a suitable manner. For example, in some embodiments, at least one warning circuit 101 may be coupled to its respective controller via various interface components or coupling components 102. Figure 3 In the case of the three warning circuits 101 shown, the first warning circuit 1011, which is furthest from the bottom housing, can be coupled to the vehicle controller 1014 via the coupling member 102. The third warning circuit 1013, which is closest to the bottom housing, can be coupled to the vehicle network controller 1016 via the coupling member 102. The second warning circuit 1012, located between the first warning circuit 1011 and the third warning circuit 1013, can be coupled to the vehicle chassis controller 1015.

[0040] Of course, it should be understood that the above-described embodiments in which multiple warning circuits 101 are coupled to different controllers are merely illustrative and not intended to limit the scope of protection of this disclosure. Any other suitable arrangements are also possible. For example, in some alternative embodiments, multiple warning circuits 101 may also be coupled to the same controller, such as the vehicle's main controller. In some further alternative embodiments, one or two of the multiple warning circuits 101 are coupled to the same controller, while the other warning circuits 101 are coupled to another controller.

[0041] Furthermore, regarding the coupling method between the warning circuit 101 and the controller, in some embodiments, it can be coupled to the corresponding controller via physical interface plug-in or soldering. In some alternative embodiments, the warning circuit 101 can also be wirelessly coupled to the corresponding server. The following description will primarily use the example of the warning circuit 101 and the corresponding controller being physically wired coupled. Other coupling methods are similar and will not be elaborated upon further below.

[0042] The coupling component 102 can send a warning message indicating a risk of bottom housing breakage to the corresponding controller when any of the warning circuits 101 in the warning circuits 101 is triggered. In some embodiments, the triggering of a warning circuit 101 may include the disconnection of the warning circuit 101. The disconnection of the warning circuit 101 may include the warning circuit 101 itself breaking due to impact or scratching by a protrusion or the like, or it may include the disconnection of the interface between the warning circuit 101 and the corresponding controller. For example, in some embodiments, the warning circuit 101 may include a breakable wire or a breakable interface, or a relatively low-strength wire. These breakable wires or interfaces can break or disconnect when the vehicle comes into contact with or scratches a protrusion at a predetermined speed. After these circuits or interfaces are disconnected, the corresponding controller is equivalent to receiving a warning message indicating a risk of bottom housing breakage. The following description will mainly focus on the example of the warning circuit 101 itself being disconnected to trigger the warning circuit 101 according to the inventive concept of this disclosure; other triggering situations are similar and will not be described in detail below.

[0043] In some embodiments, to ensure that the warning circuit 101 covers the entire area that may affect the safety of the bottom housing, the projection of the warning circuit 101 in the driving direction D can cover the bottom housing. For example, when both the bottom housing and the warning circuit 101 are centered in the lateral direction, the length of the warning circuit 101 in the lateral direction can be greater than or equal to the width of the bottom housing in the lateral direction. In this way, during vehicle operation, any protrusion that may affect the safety of the bottom housing will come into contact with the warning circuit 101 and cause the warning circuit 101 to break.

[0044] To prevent the warning circuit 101 from being falsely triggered when the vehicle is stopped or near a stop, in some embodiments, the condition for triggering the warning circuit 101 may also include the vehicle speed being greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold. For example, the predetermined threshold may be 5 km / h. Of course, it should be understood that this predetermined threshold value is merely illustrative and is not intended to limit the scope of protection of this disclosure. Any other suitable predetermined threshold is also possible. For example, in some alternative embodiments, the user may select an appropriate predetermined threshold within a limited range (e.g., 3 km / h to 15 km / h).

[0045] In some embodiments, to facilitate the disconnection of the warning circuit 101 and thereby indicate a potential risk of damage to the bottom housing, the first height of the warning circuit 101 above the ground may be less than the second height of the lowest point of the bottom housing above the ground. In this way, during vehicle operation, if a protrusion that could potentially damage the bottom housing is present, the warning circuit 101 will first contact the protrusion, causing it to break, thereby enabling the corresponding controller to receive a warning message and trigger the corresponding level of warning information.

[0046] In other words, in some embodiments, when there are multiple warning circuits 101, different levels of warning information are issued based on the distance of the triggered warning circuit 101 from the bottom housing. Figure 3 Taking the case of the three warning circuits 101 shown as an example, when the vehicle is traveling at a speed higher than a predetermined threshold, if a protrusion on the ground disconnects, for example, the first warning circuit 1011 located on the lower guard plate 202, triggering the first warning circuit 1011, the controller coupled to the first warning circuit 1011 (e.g., the vehicle controller 1014 mentioned above) will receive a first-level warning message. In some embodiments, the first-level warning message may include information of a lower warning level, such as issuing a braking warning sound to the driver or a warning sound indicating that there may be a protrusion under the vehicle that affects the safety of collision-sensitive components, such as... Figure 4 As shown.

[0047] If the vehicle fails to brake in time, causing a protrusion to disconnect the second warning circuit 1012 (e.g., located on the subframe deflector 203), triggering the second warning circuit 1012, a controller (e.g., a chassis controller) coupled to the second warning circuit 1012 can receive a second-level warning message. This second-level warning message will cause the corresponding controller to send an emergency braking signal to the vehicle's braking system to initiate emergency braking. In some embodiments, the corresponding controller will also issue audible and visual alarms to the driver or relevant personnel inside or outside the vehicle based on the second-level warning message, such as flashing the vehicle's hazard lights, sounding the horn, and / or issuing an emergency braking warning sound.

[0048] If the vehicle still fails to stop under these circumstances, the protrusion may trigger a third warning circuit 1013, located at the front of the bottom housing, causing the corresponding controller (e.g., the vehicle network controller) to receive a third-level warning message. Upon receiving the third-level warning message, in addition to taking the above two measures to brake the vehicle, the controller will also send a call or distress signal to a remote server or telephone center, indicating that there is a risk of damage, fire, or explosion to collision-sensitive components of the vehicle, such as the battery. The remote server or telephone center will then coordinate with fire departments or other relevant departments to provide assistance to the vehicle. Simultaneously, upon receiving the third-level warning message, the controller can also control the unlocking or opening of the doors to allow the driver and passengers to evacuate the vehicle in an emergency.

[0049] In some embodiments, to avoid the risk of false alarms, the conditions for issuing a second-level warning message can be set to the vehicle speed exceeding a predetermined threshold and both the first warning circuit 1011 and the second warning circuit 1012 being triggered. Similarly, the conditions for issuing a third-level warning message can be set to the vehicle speed exceeding a predetermined threshold and the first warning circuit 1011, the second warning circuit 1012, and the third warning circuit 1013 being triggered.

[0050] The preceding text describes a multi-level warning mechanism of the warning device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, using the example of three warning circuits 101 being triggered to initiate warning information of different levels. It should be understood that the three-level warning information indication is schematically shown based on the three warning circuits 101; other levels of warning information may exist for other numbers of warning circuits 101. In other words, the more warning circuits 101 there are, the more levels of warning information are provided, thereby enabling the driver to control the vehicle more safely and avoid damage to collision-sensitive components.

[0051] In the above description, it is shown that the first warning circuit 1011 can be arranged on the lower guard plate 202 of the vehicle. For example, in some embodiments, the first warning circuit 1011 can be directly disposed at the bottom of the lower guard plate 202 by means of adhesive or snap-fit. In some alternative embodiments, the first warning circuit 1011 can also be embedded inside the lower guard plate 202. Similarly, the second warning circuit 1012 can also be directly disposed at the bottom of the subframe deflector 203 by means of adhesive or snap-fit, or embedded inside the deflector 203. The third warning circuit 1013 can be directly disposed at the bottom of the front end of the bottom housing by means of adhesive or snap-fit, or embedded inside the bottom housing. Furthermore, the above embodiments regarding the placement of the first warning circuit 1011, the second warning circuit 1012, and the third warning circuit 1013 are merely illustrative and are not intended to limit the scope of protection according to this disclosure. As long as the distances between the multiple warning circuits 101 and the bottom housing are different, and the height conditions mentioned above are met, the multiple warning circuits 101 can be disposed at any suitable location on the vehicle.

[0052] The above-described scheme for triggering the warning circuit 101 by means of disconnection can improve vehicle safety at a relatively low cost. It should be understood that the above-described embodiments of triggering the corresponding warning circuit 101 by means of disconnection are merely illustrative and are not intended to limit the scope of protection of this disclosure. Other suitable methods are also possible. For example, in some alternative embodiments, the warning circuit 101 may also include a sensor for sensing the distance to the ground. In this case, the condition for triggering the warning circuit 101 may include the sensor sensing a distance to the ground that is less than a predetermined threshold.

[0053] For example, in some embodiments, the sensor is arranged at a third distance from the ground, which may be less than or equal to a second distance between the lowest point of the bottom housing and the ground. Here, the distance from the ground represents the distance to any object on the ground (including obstacles such as protrusions mentioned above). Furthermore, the predetermined threshold can be the difference between the second height and the third height. For example, if the second and third heights are equal, the predetermined threshold is 0. The sensor has a certain sensing range. For example, if there is a protrusion on the road surface during driving, the sensor can sense the vertical distance between the highest point of the protrusion and the sensor's sensing surface when the protrusion is within a certain range in front of, to the left of, or to the right of the sensor (not necessarily directly below). When the sensor senses that the distance between its sensing surface and the protrusion on the ground is equal to or less than a certain predetermined threshold, the warning circuit 101 can issue a warning message to the corresponding controller, thereby providing a warning of events that threaten the safety of collision-sensitive components.

[0054] Therefore, by setting up the warning circuit 101 to provide first-level or multi-level warning information, the problem of collision-sensitive components being intruded upon and affecting the safety of vehicles and people can be fundamentally solved, thereby improving the safety and reliability of vehicles, especially electric vehicles.

[0055] It should be understood that the detailed embodiments described above are merely illustrative or explanatory of the principles of this disclosure and are not intended to limit the scope of this disclosure. Therefore, any modifications, equivalent substitutions, improvements, etc., made within the spirit and principles of this invention should be included within the protection scope of this invention. Furthermore, the appended claims are intended to cover all variations and modifications falling within the scope and boundaries of the claims or their equivalents.
