Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a shank of a cutting tool, a cutting tool, and a manufacturing method of a cutting workpiece used when a cutting work is performed on a workpiece such as a metal. BACKGROUND

[0002] As a cutting tool used when a cutting work is performed on a workpiece such as a metal, a cutting tool described in Patent Literature 1 is known. The cutting tool described in Patent Literature 1 has a shank and a cutting insert. The shank has a cylindrical main body having a hollow, a head portion that plugs an entrance of the hollow, a weight that is inserted into the hollow as a damping member, and an O-ring that is located between the head portion and the weight.

[0003] The cutting insert having a cutting edge is attached to a front end portion of the head portion. In a case where a protruding amount L by which a front end portion of the cutting edge protrudes from an end surface of the main body is increased with respect to a diameter D of the main body, the rigidity of the main body made of a steel material is low, and thus vibration in a radial direction of the main body is easily generated in the shank, and thus the machining accuracy is deteriorated. The vibration of the shank can be reduced by accommodating the weight having a different natural vibration frequency from the main body in the main body and causing the main body and the weight to vibrate at different vibration frequencies.

[0020] Hereinafter, a shank, a cutting tool, and a manufacturing method of a cutting workpiece as an example of an embodiment of the present disclosure will be described in detail using the drawings. However, each drawing referred to below simply shows only the main components necessary in aspects of explaining the embodiment for the sake of convenience of explanation. Therefore, the shank and the cutting tool can be provided with any structural components not shown in each drawing referred to. In addition, the dimensions of the components in each drawing do not accurately represent the dimensions of the actual constituent components and the dimension ratios of the components, and the like.

[0021] (Cutting tool)

[0022] Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the cutting tool 10 of Embodiment 1. Figure 2 is a plan view showing the cutting tool 10. The cutting tool 10 is a tool in which a head (head portion) 2 is attached to a shank 1 of a circular bar shape extending in the X-axis direction of a main body la. Figure 1 of the shank 1. The head 2 is attached with a cutting insert (hereinafter referred to as an insert) 3.

[0023] The cutting tool 10 is, for example, a turning tool, and as specific examples, a tool for external diameter processing, a tool for internal diameter processing, a tool for groove processing, and a tool for parting processing, and the like can be listed. The cutting tool 10 can also be a milling tool in which the tool side is rotated. In the following description, the side on which the head 2 is present of the cutting tool 10 is referred to as the front end (first end) side, and the side opposite to the front end side is referred to as the rear end (second end) side.

[0024] (Head)

[0025] As shown in Figures 1-3 , the head 2 has an attachment portion 21 formed in a substantially cylindrical shape, and an assembly portion 22 provided in a manner that protrudes from the front end surface of the attachment portion 21 in the X-axis direction and formed in a polyhedral shape. The attachment portion 21 is attached to the front end portion of the shank 1 in a state in which the axis is aligned with the center axis L of the shank 1. A serrated portion is provided on the end surface of the shank 1 side of the attachment portion 21, is engaged with a serrated portion formed on the end surface of the front end side of the cap 12 of the shank 1 described later, and the head 2 is attached to the shank 1 using a screw (not shown) or the like.

[0026] A spouting portion 23 having an opening portion from which a coolant is spouted is provided on the front end surface of the attachment portion 21. A protruding portion 24 of a cylindrical shape having a second hole 25 described later is provided on the central portion of the end surface of the rear end side of the attachment portion 21 in a state of protruding toward the cap 12. The second hole 25 extends to the front end side in a state in which the axis is aligned with the center axis L (refer to Figure 4 ). The front end portion of the second hole 25 is connected to the spouting portion 23 (not shown).

[0027] One end portion in the Y-axis direction when the assembly portion 22 is viewed in plan from the Z-axis direction is provided with an insert pocket 22a. The insert pocket 22a has a support surface (not shown) on which the bottom surface of the insert 3 is placed, and a constraint side surface that abuts against both side surfaces of the insert 3 to constrain the same. The shape of the insert 3 is not limited to a particular structure. For example, the shape of the insert 3 can be a structure of a bar shape, a polygonal plate shape, or a polygonal prism shape. In the present embodiment, the insert 3 is, for example, a polygonal prism shape. Figure 1The blade 3 is in a rhombic plate shape. One corner of the rhombic shape of the blade 3 is cut to become a cutting edge 3a.

[0028] As the material of the blade 3, cemented carbide and metal ceramic can be cited. A through-hole is provided in the central portion of the blade 3, the bottom surface of the rhombic shape is placed on the support surface, a screw is passed through the through-hole and is threadedly fastened to the support surface, whereby the blade 3 is fixed to the blade pocket 22a.

[0029] As the composition of the cemented carbide, WC-Co, WC-TiC-Co, and WC-TiC-TaC-Co can be cited, for example. WC-Co is produced by adding a powder of cobalt (Co) to tungsten carbide (WC) and sintering. WC-TiC-Co is produced by adding titanium carbide (TiC) to WC-Co. WC-TiC-TaC-Co is produced by adding tantalum carbide (TaC) to WC-TiC-Co.

[0030] In addition, the metal ceramic is a sintered composite material in which a metal is compounded in a ceramic component. Specifically, as the metal ceramic, a metal ceramic in which a titanium compound such as titanium carbide (TiC) or titanium nitride (TiN) is the main component can be cited.

[0031] (Handle)

[0032] Figure 3 is an enlarged view of the first end surface side of Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along the III-III line of Figure 4 is an enlarged view of the first end surface side of Figure 3 Figure 5 is an enlarged view of the connection portion of the head 2 and the cover 12 of Figure 4 Figure 6 is an enlarged view of the second end surface side of Figure 3

[0033] As shown in Figure 3 , the handle 1 of the cutting tool 10 has a shank 11, a cover 12, a first elastic member 14, and a fixing member 16. The main body la of the handle 1 is constituted by the shank 11 and the cover 12. As the material of the shank 11, steel such as stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloy can be cited. In particular, in the case where steel is used among these materials, the toughness of the handle 1 can be improved.

[0034] The shank 11 has an appearance of a circular bar shape extending in the X-axis direction, and the first end surface 11a on the head 2 side and the second end surface lib on the rear end side can each be a configuration in which the central portion is open. The shank 11 has a through-hole 11c inside that extends from the first end surface 11a toward the second end surface lib along the center axis (axial center) L (X-axis direction) of the handle 1.

[0035] The through-hole 11c is composed of a large-diameter portion 11d on the first end face 11a side and a small-diameter portion 11e connected to the large-diameter portion 11d and extending toward the second end face 11b. The through-hole 11c is provided by perforating the base material of the above-described material in a cylindrical shape. The inner diameter of the small-diameter portion 11e is smaller than the inner diameter of the large-diameter portion 11d. The large-diameter portion 11d and the small-diameter portion 11e each have a cylindrical shape, and the large-diameter portion 11d has a thin wall compared to the small-diameter portion 11e. In Figure 2 the present embodiment, the large-diameter portion 11d has a length of approximately 2 / 3 of the tool shank 1, and the small-diameter portion 11e has a length of approximately 1 / 3 of the tool shank 1, but the ratio of the lengths of the large-diameter portion 11d and the small-diameter portion 11e is not limited to this case.

[0036] The cap 12, the weight 13, the first elastic member 14, and the fixing member 16 are housed in the large-diameter portion 11d.

[0037] The cap 12 is pressed into the large-diameter portion 11d from the first end face 11a of the shank 11, and seals the opening formed in the first end face 11a. As the material of the cap 12, steel, cast iron, aluminum alloy, and the like can be cited. As shown in Figure 4 , the cap 12 is formed in a substantially cylindrical shape having a first hole 12c, and is pressed into the large-diameter portion 11d in a state in which the axis is aligned with the center axis L.

[0038] The cap 12 has a flange portion 12a, a recessed portion 12b, the first hole 12c, and a protrusion portion 12d. The flange portion 12a is provided on the outer peripheral portion of the front end side of the cap 12 in a manner that protrudes to the outside in the radial direction. The flange portion 12a comes into contact with the first end face 11a, and thus the entry of the cap 12 into the inside of the shank 11 is limited. A sawtooth portion is provided on the end face of the cap 12 that opposes the head 2.

[0039] As shown in Figure 4 and Figure 5 , the recessed portion 12b is provided in a circular hole shape from the central portion of the end face of the cap 12 that opposes the head 2 toward the rear end side. The convex portion 24 of the head 2 is inserted into the recessed portion 12b. The recessed portion 12b has a bottom face 12e orthogonal to the center axis L, an inner peripheral face 12f, and a first connecting face 12g that connects the bottom face 12e and the inner peripheral face 12f obliquely. That is, the first connecting face 12g is inclined to the front end side with respect to the bottom face 12e (Z direction). The inclination angle of the first connecting face 12g with respect to the bottom face 12e is, for example, 20 degrees to 60 degrees. Figure 5 The W1, which is the dimension in the Z direction of the first connecting face 12g in the cross section shown in

[0040] The protrusion portion 12d is provided so as to protrude toward the rear end from the end surface of the rear end side of the cover 12, and is formed in a cylindrical shape with the center axis L as an axis. The first hole 12c extends from the bottom surface 12e of the recessed portion 12b toward the rear end side in a state in which the axis is aligned with the center axis L and penetrates the protrusion portion 12d. As shown in Figure 4 the first hole 12c can be larger in diameter on the rear end side than on the front end side.

[0041] As shown in Figure 5 the convex portion 24 of the head 2 has a top surface 24a orthogonal to the center axis L, an outer peripheral surface 24b, and a second connecting surface 24c that connects the top surface 24a and the outer peripheral surface 24b obliquely. That is, the second connecting surface 24c is inclined toward the front end side with respect to the top surface 24a (Z direction). The inclination angle of the second connecting surface 24c with respect to the top surface 24a is, for example, 20 to 60 degrees. Figure 5 the dimension of the second connecting surface 24c in the Z direction in the cross section shown is, for example, 0.1 to 0.4 times the diameter of the second hole 25.

[0042] A second elastic member 15 in the shape of a ring is interposed between the recessed portion 12b and the convex portion 24. The second elastic member 15 is, for example, an O-ring in the shape of a circular ring or a spring, and as a material, rubber such as NBR (acrylonitrile butadiene rubber), AU (polyester urethane rubber), synthetic resin, or the like can be cited. The convex portion 24 is fixed to the recessed portion 12b with the second elastic member 15 interposed therebetween. The inner diameter of the second elastic member 15 is smaller than the inner diameter of the first hole 12c, and the outer diameter of the second elastic member 15 is larger than the inner diameter of the first hole 12c.

[0043] The second elastic member 15 is flattened between the bottom surface 12e, the first connecting surface 12g, and the inner peripheral surface 12f of the recessed portion 12b of the cover 12 and the top surface 24a and the second connecting surface 24c of the convex portion 24 of the head 2, and thereby the convex portion 24 is fixed to the recessed portion 12b using the repulsive force thereof. In particular, in the present embodiment, the second elastic member 15 is sandwiched by the inclined first connecting surface 12g and the second connecting surface 24c and is in close contact with the first connecting surface 12g and the second connecting surface 24c. Thereby, displacement of the position of the second elastic member 15 is unlikely to occur in both the direction along the center axis L and the direction orthogonal to the center axis L. Displacement of the position of the head 2 with respect to the main body 1a of the shank 1 is also reduced at the time of machining.

[0044] Returning to Figure 3The weight 13 is housed within the rod 11 to reduce vibration of the tool holder 1 generated radially along the tool holder 1. The weight 13 is a damping member. The weight 13 is formed into a generally cylindrical shape with a third hole 13c, and is disposed adjacent to the cover 12 within the large diameter portion 11d with its axis aligned with the central axis L. The weight 13 is housed within the large diameter portion 11d with a slight gap between it and the inner circumferential surface of the large diameter portion 11d. Examples of materials for the weight 13 include high-speed steel, cemented carbide, and cermet, which are high-rigidity materials.

[0045] The weight 13 has a recess 13a, a recess 13b, and a third hole 13c. The recess 13a is a circular hole located at the center of the end face on the front side of the weight 13. The recess 13b is a circular hole located at the center of the end face on the rear side of the weight 13. The third hole 13c is provided to connect the recesses 13a and 13b.

[0046] A flow tube 19 for allowing coolant to flow through is inserted into the third hole 13c. Examples of materials for the flow tube 19 include metals and resins. Examples of metals include copper, steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Examples of resins include polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride. Examples of coolants include non-water-soluble oils such as oil-based, non-active extreme pressure, and active extreme pressure cutting oils, as well as water-soluble oils such as emulsion-type, soluble, and solution-type cutting oils.

[0047] like Figure 6 As shown, a fixing member 16 is disposed on the rear end side of the weight 13 within the large-diameter portion 11d of the through hole 11c. The fixing member 16 fixes the weight 13 relative to the inner circumferential surface of the large-diameter portion 11d via the first elastic member 14. The fixing member 16 is formed into a generally cylindrical shape with a cavity for inserting the flow tube 19, and is disposed within the large-diameter portion 11d with its axis aligned with the central axis L.

[0048] Examples of materials that can be used for the fixing component 16 include metals and resins. Examples of metals include steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys. Examples of resins include polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride.

[0049] The fixing member 16 has a protrusion 16a and a groove 16b. The protrusion 16a is provided in such a way that it protrudes from the center of the end face of the fixing member 16 opposite to the weight 13 toward the weight 13, and is formed in a cylindrical shape. The groove 16b is provided circumferentially around the outer peripheral surface of the fixing member 16 opposite to the inner peripheral surface of the large diameter portion 11d.

[0050] The first elastic member 14 is fitted in the groove 16b of the fixing member 16. The first elastic member 14 is, for example, an O-ring, and can have the same material as the second elastic member 15.

[0051] Returning to Figure 4 , the protruding portion 12d of the cover 12 is inserted into the inside of the recessed portion 13a of the weight 13 in a state where the third elastic member 17 in the form of a ring is fitted on the outside. Further, as shown in Figure 6 , the protruding portion 16a of the fixing member 16 is inserted into the inside of the recessed portion 13b in a state where the fourth elastic member 18 in the form of a ring is fitted on the outside.

[0052] The third elastic member 17 and the fourth elastic member 18 can have the same material as the second elastic member 15. The third elastic member 17 is flattened between the outer peripheral surface of the protruding portion 12d of the cover 12 and the inner peripheral surface of the recessed portion 13a of the weight 13, whereby the front end side of the weight 13 is fixed to the cover 12 by repulsive force thereof (see Figure 4 ).

[0053] The fourth elastic member 18 is flattened between the outer peripheral surface of the protruding portion 16a of the fixing member 16 and the inner peripheral surface of the recessed portion 13b of the weight 13, whereby the rear end side of the weight 13 is fixed to the fixing member 16 (see Figure 6 ). As a result, the cover 12, the weight 13, and the fixing member 16 are integrated. As shown in Figure 4 , the front end portion of the through-flow pipe 19 enters the first hole 12c, and the first hole 12c is connected to the third hole 13c.

[0054] The first elastic member 14 is in contact with and flattened by the inner peripheral surface of the large-diameter portion 11d of the through-hole 11c, and the weight 13 integrated with the fixing member 16 is fixed with respect to the inner peripheral surface of the large-diameter portion 11d by repulsive force resulting therefrom. That is, the weight 13 is fixed with respect to the shaft 11 by being held between the cover 12 fixed to the shaft 11 by being pressed into the shaft 11 and the fixing member 16 fixed to the shaft 11 with the first elastic member 14 interposed therebetween.

[0055] As shown in Figure 3 , the diameter of the opening of the second end surface 11b of the shaft 11 is substantially the same as the diameter of the small-diameter portion 11e. The coolant is injected into the small-diameter portion 11e from the opening. The opening is plugged by the peg 20. The injected coolant passes through the through-flow pipe 19, and is ejected from the ejection portion 23 of the head 2 at the time of machining.

[0056] The inner space of the through-flow pipe 19 communicates with the ejection portion 23 via the first hole 12c and the second hole 25 of the cover 12. The coolant injected into the small-diameter portion 11e flows through the second hole 25 in the protruding portion 24 via the through-flow pipe 19, and is ejected from the ejection portion 23 toward the workpiece at the time of machining.

[0057] As described above, the first hole 12c and the second hole 25 are connected with good connection due to the first connecting surface 12g and the second connecting surface 24c, and the positional deviation of the head 2 with respect to the main body la of the shank 1 is not easily generated. In the case where the coolant flows to the first hole 12c and the second hole 25, the liquid leakage is not easily generated at the position where the first hole 12c and the second hole 25 are connected.

[0058] (Modified Example 1)

[0059] Figure 7 is a cross-sectional view showing the connecting portion of the head 2 of the shank 1 and the cover 12 of the modified example 1. For the recessed portion 12b of the cover 12 of the modified example 1, the third connecting surface 12h which is inclined from the front end side toward the rear end side is further provided between the bottom surface 12e and the first hole 12c on the basis of the structure shown in Figure 5 In the modified example 1, the second elastic member 15 intrudes into the third connecting surface 12h also when being crushed, and the positional deviation of the second elastic member 15 is further reduced in both the direction along the center axis L and the direction orthogonal to the center axis L.

[0060] (Modified Example 2)

[0061] Figure 8 is a cross-sectional view showing the connecting portion of the head 2 of the shank 1 and the cover 12 of the modified example 2. The outer diameter of the second elastic member 15 of the modified example 2 is larger than Figure 5 the outer diameter of the second elastic member 15 of the modified example 1. Therefore, the second elastic member 15 also abuts against the outer peripheral surface 24b of the convex portion 24, and the positional deviation of the second elastic member 15 is further reduced.

[0062] (Modified Example 3)

[0063] Figure 9 is a cross-sectional view showing the connecting portion of the head 2 of the shank 1 and the cover 12 of the modified example 3. The first connecting surface 12g and the second connecting surface 24c of the modified example 3 are parallel. In the modified example 3, the second elastic member 15 is sandwiched by the first connecting surface 12g and the second connecting surface 24c in a state where the second elastic member 15 is not skewed, and the positional deviation is further reduced in both the direction along the center axis L and the direction orthogonal to the center axis L.

[0064] (Machining method)

[0065] Next, the machining method of the machining object of the embodiment will be described using the drawings. Figure 10 is a schematic view showing one step of the machining method of the machining object 103 in an example which is not limited. Figure 11 is a schematic view showing one step of the machining method of the machining object 103 in an example which is not limited. Figure 12is a schematic diagram showing a process of a manufacturing method of the cut work 103 in one example not limited.

[0066] The cut work 103 is manufactured by performing cutting work on the cut workpiece 101. In the embodiment, external diameter work is exemplified as the cutting work. The manufacturing method of the cut work 103 in the embodiment includes the following processes. That is, it includes:

[0067] (1) a process of rotating the cut workpiece 101;

[0068] (2) a process of bringing the cutting tool 10, which is represented by the above-described embodiment, into contact with the rotating cut workpiece 101; and

[0069] (3) a process of separating the cutting tool 10 from the cut workpiece 101.

[0070] More specifically, first, as shown in Figure 10 , the cut workpiece 101 is rotated in the D1 direction about the axis D. In addition, the cutting tool 10 is relatively approached to the cut workpiece 101 by moving the cutting tool 10 in the D2 direction. Next, as shown in Figure 11 , the cutting edge 3a in the cutting tool 10 is brought into contact with the cut workpiece 101, and thus the cut workpiece 101 is cut.

[0071] At this time, the external diameter work can be performed by cutting the cut workpiece 101 while moving the cutting tool 10 in the D3 direction. Then, as shown in Figure 12 , the cutting tool 10 is relatively separated from the cut workpiece 101 by moving the cutting tool 10 in the D4 direction.

[0072] In Figure 10 , the cutting tool 10 can be approached in a state where the axis D is fixed and the cut workpiece 101 is rotated. In addition, in Figure 11 , the cut workpiece 101 is cut by bringing the cutting edge 3a of the blade 3 into contact with the rotating cut workpiece 101. In addition, in Figure 12 , the cutting tool 10 is separated in a state where the cut workpiece 101 is rotated.

[0073] As described above, in the present embodiment, the positional deviation of the head 2 with respect to the main body la of the shank 1 is reduced, and thus the machining accuracy is good. In the machining, the coolant does not leak from the connection portion of the head 2 and the cover 12.

[0074] In the cutting work in the manufacturing method of the embodiment, the cutting tool 10 is brought into contact with the cut workpiece 101 by moving the cutting tool 10. Also, the cutting tool 10 is separated from the cut workpiece 101 by moving the cutting tool 10. However, the manufacturing method of the embodiment is not limited to such a case.

[0075] For example, in the process of (1), the workpiece 101 can be brought close to the cutting tool 10. In the process of (3), the workpiece 101 can be brought away from the cutting tool 10. In the case where the cutting process is continued, the state where the cutting tool 10 is rotated is maintained, and the process of bringing the insert 3 into contact with different portions of the workpiece 101 is repeated.

[0076] As representative examples of the material of the workpiece 101, carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals can be given.
