Description

Technical Field

[0001] This invention relates to a foot pedal for a wheelchair, and more particularly to a foot pedal that is easy to open and close and hygienic. Background Technology

[0002] Traditionally, the footrests (also known as "pedals" or "footrests") of wheelchairs are typically closed when the user is seated (upright position) by raising the front end of the footrest upwards, and opened when the user is seated (reclining position) to allow for foot placement. These footrests are operated by an assistant squatting down and using their hands, or by the user using their feet or hands. However, operating the footrests by hand is very unhygienic.

[0003] Furthermore, for example, opening / closing the foot pedal requires relatively large force so that it won't simply turn from closed to open with a slight touch. Therefore, assistants or others must hold the foot pedal firmly when operating it by hand, which is particularly unhygienic. Additionally, for patients with reduced lower limb function, operating with their feet is difficult, thus requiring the use of their hands, which is still unhygienic.

[0004] Therefore, various foot pedals that are easy to open and close have been disclosed (for example, see Patent Documents 1 to 3). The wheelchair foot pedal disclosed in Patent Document 1 is a wheelchair foot pedal operating mechanism, characterized by comprising: a first gear located on the rotation axis of the wheelchair foot pedal; a belt, chain, or cable connected to the first gear; a second gear connected to the belt, chain, or cable; and an operating pin fixedly connected to the belt, chain, or cable. The first gear, the belt, chain, cable, second gear, and operating pin are configured within a front tube frame located on both sides below the knees of the wheelchair. By moving the head of the operating pin protruding from the front tube frame, the foot pedal can be rotated up and down.

[0005] Furthermore, the wheelchair disclosed in Patent Document 2 is characterized in that the wheelchair comprises: foot pedals having a low-friction rotating part; a reel that can rotate in only one direction in a first state and in the opposite direction in a second state; and a line / rope, one end of which is attached to the foot pedals and the other end of which is attached to the reel, with the base end of the line / rope passing through the tubular frame constituting the main body of the wheelchair.

[0006] Furthermore, the foot pedal opening and closing mechanism disclosed in Patent Document 3 is characterized in that an elastic member is provided between the base of the foot pedal, which is rotatable from a horizontal position to an upright position, on the support shafts respectively provided on the left and right sides of the front of the wheelchair body, and the support shafts, so that the foot pedal maintains an upright position when not in use.

[0011] Patent Document 3: Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 2015-146863 Summary of the Invention

[0012] (The problem that the invention aims to solve)

[0013] Based on the various foot pedals disclosed in Patent Documents 1 to 3, it is believed that they all employ relatively simple structures, thereby making the opening and closing of the foot pedals easy. In particular, regardless of the type of foot pedal, the opening and closing operation does not require direct hand contact with the foot pedal, which is considered hygienic.

[0014] However, the foot pedals disclosed in Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2 both require manual operation.

[0015] Furthermore, when using the foot pedal disclosed in Patent Document 3, the foot needs to be lifted to the front end of the foot pedal in an upright position, which is considered very difficult for patients with limited joint mobility. Moreover, since the elastic member applies force to maintain the upright position, a stepping force exceeding this force is required, which is difficult for patients with decreased lower limb function. Additionally, the foot pedal disclosed in Patent Document 3 is essentially operated by the user, making it very difficult for an assistant to maintain the foot pedal in a usable position.

[0016] In view of the aforementioned problems, the inventors of this application have conducted repeated and in-depth research in order to provide a wheelchair foot pedal that is very simple to open and close in a simple structure and hygienic because it does not require direct hand contact with the foot pedal, and as a result, the present invention has been completed.

[0017] (Technical solution used to solve the problem)

[0018] That is, the present invention is a footrest for a wheelchair, characterized in that the footrest body is substantially divided into a first footrest part and a second footrest part, which are connected by a connecting member. The second footrest part has a bearing part, which is mounted on a footrest post provided at the lower end of the leg tube of the wheelchair. The second footrest part is rotatably supported by a shaft. A wire is inserted into the through hole provided in the first footrest part and the second footrest part. One end of the wire is fixed to the front end of the first footrest part, and the other end of the wire is fixed to the footrest post. At the connection between the first footrest part and the second footrest part, a force-applying unit is provided to apply force in the direction of folding the first footrest part and the second footrest part.

[0019] Furthermore, in the foot pedal of the present invention, a line adjustment unit is provided at the front end of the first foot pedal portion, and one end of the line is fixed via the line adjustment unit.

[0020] Furthermore, the present invention relates to a footrest for a wheelchair, characterized in that the footrest body is substantially divided into a first footrest portion and a second footrest portion, which are connected by a connecting member. The second footrest portion has a bearing portion, which is mounted on a footrest post disposed at the lower end of the leg tube of the wheelchair. The second footrest portion is rotatably supported by an axle. A wire is disposed on the lower surface side of the first footrest portion and the second footrest portion, one end of which is fixed to the first footrest portion and the other end of which is fixed to the footrest post. A force-applying unit is disposed at the connection portion between the first footrest portion and the second footrest portion, which applies force in the direction of folding the first footrest portion and the second footrest portion.

[0021] Furthermore, in the foot pedal of the present invention, a line adjustment unit is provided on the lower surface side of the first foot pedal portion, and one end of the line is fixed via the line adjustment unit.

[0022] (Invention Effects)

[0023] According to the foot pedal of the present invention, the opening and closing operation is very easy with the foot, so even patients with reduced lower limb function can perform the opening and closing operation, and there is no need to directly touch the foot pedal with the hand, so it is very hygienic.

[0024] In particular, since the foot pedal body of the present invention is roughly divided into a first foot pedal portion and a second foot pedal portion, when changing the foot pedal from the closed state to the open state, the height of lifting the foot is only about half that of conventional foot pedals. Therefore, it is believed that even patients with reduced lower limb function can more easily perform the opening and closing operation.

[0025] In addition, the foot pedal of the present invention has a simple structure, thus enabling the provision of a foot pedal that is both easy to operate and hygienic at a low cost.

[0026] Furthermore, in the foot pedal of the present invention, one end of the line is fixed to the first foot pedal part via the line adjustment unit, thereby making it easy to restore the tension of the line, ensuring the ease of opening and closing the foot pedal for a long time, and reliably and for a long time maintaining the open and closed states. [0037] Hereinafter, embodiments of the foot pedal of the present invention will be described in detail based on the accompanying drawings. Figure 1 This is a front view of a wheelchair 1 equipped with the footrest 10 according to one embodiment of the present invention. As shown in the figure, the wheelchair 1 of this embodiment has a structure that is generally the same as that of a general wheelchair, and is mainly composed of: a body 2, a push handle 3, a back support 4, an arm support 5, a seat 6, driving wheels 7 (rear wheels), casters 8 (front wheels), handwheel rims 9, etc.

[0038] Furthermore, the footrest 10 of the wheelchair 1 in this embodiment is as follows: Figures 2A to 2D As shown, the foot pedal body 11 is roughly divided into two parts: a first foot pedal portion 12 and a second foot pedal portion 13. The first foot pedal portion 12 and the second foot pedal portion 13 are connected by a connecting member 14. For example, a hinge or the like can be applied to the connecting member 14, and as... Figure 2B As shown, on the lower surface of the foot pedal body 11, the first foot pedal part 12 and the second foot pedal part 13 are connected in a foldable manner by a connecting member 14.

[0039] The second foot pedal portion 13 constituting the foot pedal body 11 according to this embodiment includes a bearing portion 15. The bearing portion 15 according to this embodiment is generally cylindrical, but a portion of its central part in the longitudinal direction is cut off, and the line 19 described later is provided on the cut-off portion. In addition, the bearing portion 15 of the second foot pedal portion 13 is mounted on the foot pedal column 17 provided at the lower end of the leg tube 16 of the wheelchair 1 according to this embodiment, thereby the second foot pedal portion 13 is axially supported and can rotate freely about the foot pedal column 17 as the rotation axis.

[0040] Furthermore, the first foot pedal portion 12 and the second foot pedal portion 13 according to this embodiment have insertion holes 18 that extend laterally through their respective interiors, and a wire 19 is inserted into these insertion holes 18. More specifically, one end 19a of the wire 19 is inserted from the insertion port 22 formed in the second foot pedal portion 13 into the insertion hole 18 of the second foot pedal portion 13, and then into the insertion hole 18 of the first foot pedal portion 12. Moreover, one end 19a of the wire 19 is fixed to the front end of the first foot pedal portion 12 by a fixing member 20, and the other end 19b of the wire 19 is fixed to the foot pedal post 17 by a fixing member 21.

[0041] Here, although the fixed position of the other end 19b of line 19 toward the foot pedal post 17 is not specifically defined, but as Figure 3A and Figure 3BAs shown, when the direction directly above the foot pedal post 17 viewed from the front is set to 0°, it is preferable that the other end 19b of the wire 19 is fixed at a position 90° away from the mounting side of the foot pedal body 11 (first foot pedal portion 12 and second foot pedal portion 13). In other words, when the mounting side of the foot pedal body 11 is set to the inside, the other end 19b of the wire 19 is fixed at a position 90° away from the outside. By fixing the other end 19b of the wire 19 in this position, when using the foot pedal 10 of this embodiment, that is, when the foot pedal 10 is in the open state, the foot pedal body 11 can be further maintained in a horizontal state.

[0042] Furthermore, the present invention is characterized in that a force-applying unit 23 is provided at the connection between the first foot pedal portion 12 and the second foot pedal portion 13 in this embodiment, which applies force in the direction of folding the first foot pedal portion 12 and the second foot pedal portion 13. Examples of the force-applying unit 23 in this embodiment include, for example, the torsion coil spring shown in the figure, but there is no particular limitation as long as it is a unit that applies force in the direction of folding the first foot pedal portion 12 and the second foot pedal portion 13.

[0043] When not in use, the foot pedal 10 of this embodiment, constructed with the above structure, such as Figure 1 and Figure 2D As shown, the first foot pedal portion 12 and the second foot pedal portion 13 are folded into a peak at the location of the connecting member 14, and the second foot pedal portion 13 is maintained in a generally upright state (generally parallel to the leg tube 16).

[0044] When using foot pedal 10, such as Figure 3A As shown, the user's foot F of wheelchair 1 steps into the vicinity of the mounting position of the connecting member 14 on the side of the second footrest 13. Since the second footrest 13 is supported by the bearing 15 and can rotate freely about the footrest column 17, the second footrest 13 rotates about the footrest column 17. At this time, a wire 19 is inserted into each of the through holes 18 in both the first footrest 12 and the second footrest 13, and both ends of the wire are fixed in predetermined positions. Therefore, as the second footrest 13 rotates, the front end of the first footrest 12 is pulled by the wire 19 and gradually opens, eventually... Figure 3B As shown, the first foot pedal 12 and the second foot pedal 13 are opened side by side in a straight line (use state).

[0045] It should be noted that the rotation of the second foot pedal part 13 is as follows: Figure 2A and Figure 2BAs shown, the abutment portion 25 of the second foot pedal portion 13 is restricted by abutting against the abutment tube 24 extending below the foot pedal post 17, thereby maintaining the second foot pedal portion 13 in a horizontal state. Furthermore, since the front end of the first foot pedal portion 12, which is connected to the second foot pedal portion 13, is also pulled by the lines 19 fixed at both ends, the front end of the first foot pedal portion 12 does not tilt downwards, thus maintaining the first foot pedal portion 12 and the second foot pedal portion 13 in a straight line, side-by-side.

[0046] From Figure 3B The usage status shown (open status) becomes Figure 3A In the folded (closed) state shown, use foot F to slightly lift the connecting member 14, located near the junction of the first foot pedal 12 and the second foot pedal 13, from the rear side. Since line 19 is positioned above the rotating pin 27 of the connecting member 14, when the rotating pin 27 lifts line 19, the first foot pedal 12 and the second foot pedal 13 are folded due to the force applied by the force unit 23. Line 19 pulls on the front end of the first foot pedal 12, and simultaneously, the second foot pedal 13 rotates, ultimately becoming... Figure 3A The storage state shown is the closed state.

[0047] As described above, the foot pedal 10 according to this embodiment is very easy to open and close with foot F, so even patients with reduced lower limb function can perform the opening and closing operation, and there is no need to directly touch the foot pedal 10 with hands, so it is very hygienic.

[0048] In particular, since the foot pedal body 11 of the foot pedal 10 in this embodiment is substantially divided into a first foot pedal portion 12 and a second foot pedal portion 13, therefore, as Figure 3A As shown, when changing the foot pedal 10 from the closed state to the open state, the height of lifting the foot F is only about half that of the previous foot pedal. Therefore, it is believed that even patients with reduced lower limb function can easily perform the opening and closing operation.

[0049] In addition, the foot pedal 10 of this embodiment has a simple structure, so it is possible to provide a foot pedal 10 with excellent operability and hygiene at low cost.

[0050] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the foot pedal 10 is set as... Figure 3B When the pedal 10 is in the open position as shown, it can maintain a horizontal position even without placing foot F. That is, even if the user has difficulty opening and closing the pedal, an assistant can open and close it with their foot. For example, the assistant can change the pedal 10 from the closed position to the open position, and the user can place their foot after the assistant removes the foot.

[0051] The foot pedal 10 according to one embodiment of the present invention has been described in detail above, but the embodiments of the present invention are not limited thereto. Figure 4 The basic structure of the foot pedal 10a in other embodiments of the present invention shown is the same as that of the foot pedal 10 in the embodiments described above.

[0052] Furthermore, the characteristic feature is that, in the foot pedal 10a of this embodiment, one end 19a of the wire 19 inserted into the foot pedal body 11 is fixed by a wire adjustment unit 30, which is disposed at the front end of the first foot pedal portion 12 of the foot pedal body 11. In this wire adjustment unit 30, a threaded rod 32 is disposed on a base 31, which is fixedly mounted to the front end of the first foot pedal portion 12, and a nut 33 is threadedly fitted onto the threaded rod 32. One end 19a of the wire 19 is fixed near the front end of the threaded rod 32, configured such that rotating the nut 33 moves the threaded rod 32 in the front-back direction. Therefore, if the wire 19 elongates due to continued use of the foot pedal 10a of this embodiment, the nut 33 is rotated in the direction that retracts the threaded rod 32 of the wire adjustment unit 30. Thus, as the threaded rod 32 retracts, one end 19a of the wire 19 is pulled in the opposite direction to the other end 19b, thereby restoring the tension of the wire 19.

[0053] As described above, according to this embodiment, even if the line 19 stretches due to continued use of the foot pedal 10a, the tension of the line 19 can be restored. Therefore, the ease of opening and closing the foot pedal 10a can be ensured for a long time, and the open and closed states can be reliably and for a long time.

[0054] Next, as another embodiment of the present invention, Figure 5A and Figure 5B The foot pedal body 11a of the illustrated foot pedal 10b is roughly divided into two parts: a first foot pedal part 12a and a second foot pedal part 13a. The first foot pedal part 12a and the second foot pedal part 13a are rotatably connected by a connecting member 41. More specifically, the first foot pedal part 12a and the second foot pedal part 13a are connected in a foldable manner by inserting the connecting member 41 (connecting pin) into the connecting bearing part 42 of the first foot pedal part 12a and the connecting bearing part 43 of the second foot pedal part 13a.

[0055] The second foot pedal portion 13a of the foot pedal body 11a constituting the foot pedal 10b of this embodiment also includes a bearing portion 15a. The bearing portion 15a of this embodiment is also generally cylindrical, with a portion of its central part cut off in the longitudinal direction (axial direction). Furthermore, the line 19, which will be described later, is provided on this cut-off portion.

[0056] In addition, the foot pedal 10b of this embodiment is also installed in the wheelchair 1 of the aforementioned embodiment. However, by installing the bearing portion 15a of the second foot pedal portion 13a on the foot pedal column 17 provided at the lower end of the leg tube 16 of the wheelchair 1, the second foot pedal portion 13a is axially supported and can rotate freely about the foot pedal column 17 as the rotation axis.

[0057] Furthermore, such as Figure 5B As shown, a wire 19 is provided on the lower surface of the first foot pedal portion 12a and the second foot pedal portion 13a according to this embodiment. More specifically, one end 19a of the wire 19 extends from the cut-off portion of the bearing portion 15a of the second foot pedal portion 13a to the lower surface of the second foot pedal portion 13a. Furthermore, one end 19a of the wire 19, which extends from the lower surface of the second foot pedal portion 13a to the lower surface of the first foot pedal portion 12a, is fixed on the lower surface of the first foot pedal portion 12a by a fastener 20a, and the other end 19b of the wire 19 is fixed to the foot pedal post 17 by a fastener 21a.

[0058] Here, the fixing position and method of the other end 19b of the line 19 of the foot pedal 10b to the foot pedal post 17 in this embodiment are not particularly limited. It can also be fixed in the same position as the foot pedals 10 and 10a in the aforementioned embodiments, but it can also be fixed in, for example, as follows: Figure 5A As shown, the other end 19b of line 19 extends from directly above the foot pedal post 17 when viewed from the front, towards directly below the foot pedal post 17, as shown. Figure 5B As shown, the other end 19b is fixed to the lower surface of the foot pedal post 17 by a fastener 21a. By using this fixing method to fix the other end 19b of the line 19 to the lower surface of the foot pedal post 17, the foot pedal body 11 can be kept in a horizontal state when using the foot pedal 10b of this embodiment, that is, when the foot pedal 10b is open.

[0059] Furthermore, the feature is that the connecting portion 40 between the first foot pedal portion 12a and the second foot pedal portion 13a in this embodiment is provided with a force-applying unit 23 that applies force in the direction of folding the first foot pedal portion 12a and the second foot pedal portion 13a. As the force-applying unit 23 in this embodiment, similar to the foot pedals 10 and 10a in the aforementioned embodiments, examples include... Figure 5A as well as Figure 5BThe torsion coil spring shown is an example, but there is no particular limitation as long as the unit applies force in the direction that folds the first foot pedal part 12a and the second foot pedal part 13a.

[0060] It should be noted that, although in the foot pedal 10b of this embodiment, the wire 19 is inserted from the portion of the bearing portion 15a of the second foot pedal portion 13a that has been cut off to the lower surface side of the second foot pedal portion 13a, a wire-bearing member 44 is provided at the insertion position of the wire 19 on the lower surface side of the second foot pedal portion 13a. By providing the wire-bearing member 44, the opening and closing operation of the foot pedal 10b can be performed more smoothly.

[0061] Furthermore, in the foot pedal 10b of this embodiment, it is also preferable that one end 19a of the line 19 is fixed to the lower surface of the first foot pedal portion 12a via a line adjustment unit. As the line adjustment unit, the same structure as the line adjustment unit 30 of the foot pedal 10a of the aforementioned embodiment can be used, but as a simpler structure, for example, a screw member can be used to wind and fix one end 19a of the line 19 to the fixing member 20a, thereby easily restoring the tension of the line 19 even if the line 19 elongates.

[0062] The foot pedal 10b of this embodiment, constructed with the above structure, also functions as described above when not in use. Figure 1 as well as Figure 2D Similarly, the first foot pedal portion 12a and the second foot pedal portion 13a are folded into a peak at the location of the connecting member 41, and the second foot pedal portion 13a is maintained in a generally upright state (generally parallel to the leg tube 16).

[0063] When using the foot pedal 10b, with Figure 3A Similarly, the footrest 10 shown is positioned near the connecting member 41 on the side of the second footrest 13a by the user's foot F of the wheelchair 1. Since the second footrest 13a is supported by the bearing 15a and can rotate freely about the footrest column 17, the second footrest 13a rotates about the footrest column 17. At this time, a wire 19 is provided in both the first footrest 12a and the second footrest 13a, and both ends of the wire 19 are fixed in predetermined positions. Therefore, as the second footrest 13a rotates, one end 19a of the wire 19 in the first footrest 12a is pulled open by the wire 19, eventually connecting with... Figure 3B Similarly, the state shown is the open state (use state) where the first foot pedal part 12a and the second foot pedal part 13a are side by side in a straight line.

[0064] It should be noted that the rotation of the second foot pedal portion 13a is restricted by its contact with the leg tube 16, thereby maintaining the second foot pedal portion 13a in a horizontal state. Furthermore, since the first foot pedal portion 12a, which is connected to the second foot pedal portion 13a, is pulled by lines 19 fixed at both ends, the front end of the first foot pedal portion 12a does not tilt downwards, thus maintaining the first foot pedal portion 12a and the second foot pedal portion 13a in a straight line, side-by-side.

[0065] Furthermore, in the foot pedal 10b of this embodiment, when switching from the use state (open state) to the storage state (closed state), the connecting member 41, which is located at the junction of the first foot pedal portion 12a and the second foot pedal portion 13a, is slightly lifted from the lower surface side by foot. Since the line 19 is positioned above the connecting member 41, when the connecting member 41 lifts the line 19, the first foot pedal portion 12a and the second foot pedal portion 13a are folded due to the force applied by the force unit 23, and the line 19 pulls on the first foot pedal portion 12a. Simultaneously, the second foot pedal portion 13a rotates, ultimately reaching the storage state (closed state).

[0066] According to the foot pedal 10b of this embodiment with the above structure, the opening and closing operation is very easy with the foot, so even patients with reduced lower limb function can perform the opening and closing operation, and there is no need to directly touch the foot pedal 10b with the hand, so it is very hygienic.

[0067] In particular, since the foot pedal body 11a of the foot pedal 10b in this embodiment is roughly divided into a first foot pedal portion 12a and a second foot pedal portion 13a, when the foot pedal 10b is opened from the closed state, the height of lifting the foot is only about half that of conventional foot pedals. Therefore, it is believed that even patients with reduced lower limb function can more easily perform the opening and closing operation. In addition, the same effect as the foot pedals 10, 10a of the aforementioned embodiments can be obtained.

[0068] The embodiments of the foot pedals of the present invention have been described in detail above, but they should not be construed as limiting the technical concept of the present invention. For example, in the foot pedals 10, 10a, and 10b involved in the embodiments of the present invention, the foot pedal post 17 can be directly fixed to the leg tube 16, but it can also be connected and fixed so as shown in the figures that it can rotate freely about the rotating pin 26 as the rotation axis. By connecting and fixing the foot pedal post 17 rotatably to the leg tube 16, it is possible to further rotate from the state after the foot pedals 10, 10a, and 10b are closed, so that the foot pedal post 17 is in a state that is approximately parallel to the leg tube 16, and the foot pedals 10, 10a, and 10b can be stored more compactly. The present invention can be appropriately improved, modified, or added to without departing from its spirit, through the creativity and design of those skilled in the art.
