Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a system and method for adjusting the length of a disconnecting rod of a high-voltage circuit breaker and also relates to a corresponding high-voltage circuit breaker. Background Art

[0002] A circuit breaker is an automatically operated electrical switch designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by an overcurrent generated, for example, by an overload or a short circuit. Therefore, a high-voltage circuit breaker is a safety switch or switchgear configured to act in a high-voltage range, for example, 10 kV or higher. Document EP 1843 365A2 discloses an actuating rod assembly comprising a control rod and a retainer fitting at the end of the control rod. The retainer fitting presents a hollow cylindrical recess and has an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface is formed by a retainer fitting unit, and the outer surface is formed by a retainer fitting unit. In this regard, it is a challenge to provide a stable and reliable circuit breaker for high-voltage applications. Summary of the invention

[0003] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a system for adjusting the length of an isolating rod of a high-voltage circuit breaker. Other embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a corresponding high-voltage circuit breaker including such a system. Other embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method for adjusting the length of an isolating rod of a high-voltage circuit breaker.

[0004] According to one embodiment, a system for adjusting the length of an isolating rod of a high-voltage circuit breaker includes a coupling and a fitting. The coupling is configured to couple the isolating rod to an operating lever of the high-voltage circuit breaker to transmit an action motion that causes the electrical contacts of the high-voltage circuit breaker to separate. The coupling includes a thread having a given pitch. The fitting also includes a thread having a given pitch formed to cooperate with the thread of the coupling. The fitting and the coupling are coupled to each other in an adjustable manner by means of their threads. The fitting is configured to be fixedly coupled to the isolating rod so that, with respect to the assembled state of the system with the isolating rod and with respect to the longitudinal axis, the length of the isolating rod can be adjusted by the rotation of the coupling relative to the fitting by means of its thread.

[0005] Due to the described system configuration, it is feasible to adjust the length of the isolating rod of a high-voltage circuit breaker safely and reliably at low cost. The coupling includes a coupling section for connecting to the operating lever mechanism of the circuit breaker and an adjusting section including a thread for adjusting the effective length of the isolating rod. The coupling section and the adjusting section are formed as, for example, an integral part. The fitting also includes a coupling section for connecting to the isolating rod of the circuit breaker and an adjusting section including a thread for interacting with the coupling to adjust the effective length of the isolating rod. The fitting can also be formed as, for example, an integral part. Therefore, the system is feasible, has a clear structure, is low in cost, and forms an intermediate module between the operating lever mechanism and the isolating rod of the high-voltage circuit breaker.

[0006] The present disclosure recognizes that the performance of a high voltage circuit breaker depends on the travel characteristics of the arcing contacts and the nominal contacts. The contact separation timing and the contact separation point are critical to the ability of the circuit breaker to interrupt the associated circuit. The timing is primarily affected by the travel characteristics of the drive and linkage. Manufacturing tolerances are the primary cause of linkage inaccuracies. In order to eliminate the effects of assembly and manufacturing tolerances, the length of the isolation rod can be adjusted during the assembly process by rotating the coupling relative to the fitting.

[0007] By using this system, the correct timing of the separation of the electrical contacts can be ensured regardless of the manufacturing tolerances of the interrupter components. The system helps to simplify the adjustment of the length of the isolating rod and thus compensate for the manufacturing and assembly tolerances to defined values.

[0008] According to an embodiment, the fitting is formed as a sleeve and its thread is formed as an internal thread on the inner side of the fitting. The thread of the coupling is formed as an external thread on the outer side of the coupling, so that in the assembled state of the system, the coupling extends into the sleeve-shaped fitting. Such a configuration enables safe and reliable length adjustment by using only the fine threads of the coupling and the fitting.

[0009] For example, the threads of the coupling and the fitting are formed to cooperate with each other and have a given pitch so that a rotation of the coupling by 180° about the longitudinal axis relative to the fitting causes the length of the isolation rod to change by 0.5 mm. According to other embodiments, the pitch can alternatively be formed to enable a more precise adjustment or a more rough setting of the length of the isolation rod. In particular, a rotation of the coupling by 180° about the longitudinal axis relative to the fitting causes the length of the isolation rod to change by half the pitch. In the context of the present specification, the length of the isolation rod described is not to be understood as the original fixed length of the isolation rod element formed, but rather the original length of the isolation rod plus the effective length of the adjustable length provided by the coupling and the fitting and their meshing threads.

[0010] According to another embodiment, the system includes a fastening member connected to the coupling, which is configured to resist the undesired rotation of the coupling relative to the fitting. For example, the fastening member is formed as a locking pin or a bolt. In this regard, the fitting and the coupling each include a fastening opening, and the locking pin is inserted into these fastening openings after the length adjustment to resist further rotation of the coupling. Alternatively or additionally, the fastening member may include a nut for fixing the adjusted coupling. The nut also makes it possible to advantageously preload the threads of the coupling and the fitting. However, there is no need to use a complex assembly of many components to adjust the length of the isolation rod during the assembly process. In addition, no additional adhesive is required to fix the position of the coupling relative to the fitting after adjustment.

[0011] In view of the conventional design, the described system does not require the application of torque and the use of adhesive to fasten the adjustable element. On the one hand, the application of torque at the coupling of the isolating rod increases the risk of mechanical failure due to overloading of adjacent components. On the other hand, there is a clear risk that the applied adhesive will not cure properly, thus loosening the adjusted connection. There is a risk that the adhesive will become dirty and / or oily and therefore cannot be dried reliably.

[0012] Thus, with the described system, the risk of assembly errors is also reduced due to its clear structure. The system provides a convenient and safe way of adjusting the length of the spacer rod during assembly, and the adjustment does not require any tools.

[0013] According to another embodiment, the fixed position of the coupling relative to the fitting can be further secured in place by means of a securing element. Such a securing element can be formed as a spring clip configured to secure the position of the securing member for the assembly and adjustment state of the system and the spacer rod.

[0014] According to another embodiment of the system, the coupling is formed as a sleeve in the region of its thread, thereby defining an internal release recess. This intentionally formed opening can contribute to improving the force and tension distribution. The release recess can, for example, completely penetrate the coupling along the longitudinal axis. Alternatively, the release recess is formed into the adjustment section of the coupling at a given depth. The shape of the release recess can be a cone that tapers in the direction toward the coupling section. Alternatively, with respect to the longitudinal axis, the release recess is cylindrically defined by the surrounding wall of the supporting thread of the coupling.

[0015] The longitudinal axis substantially represents the axis of symmetry of the coupling, the fitting and the spacer rod. Thus, depending on the assembled state, the fitting is arranged along the longitudinal axis between the coupling and the spacer rod. The longitudinal axis can also represent the axis of rotation of the coupling relative to the fitting.

[0016] The coupling is made of steel, for example. The spacer rod can also be made of steel. The fitting is made of aluminum, for example, and is fixedly glued to the spacer rod.

[0017] According to another embodiment of the system, the fitting includes a support section that defines a support recess facing the coupling. The coupling includes a shoulder section adjacent to its threaded adjustment section. The support section of the fitting and the shoulder section of the coupling are formed to cooperate with each other so that a guided and supported connection of the coupling and the fitting is set. The fitting can be implemented as a sleeve or a tube including an opening facing the coupling. In the support section, the wall of the fitting is defined with a support recess to guide the insertion of the coupling and to support the coupling in an adjustment state in which the support recess interacts with the shoulder section of the coupling. The support section is formed, for example, adjacent to the thread. The support recess can be manufactured as a drilled hole that forms a guide hole with a sliding fit.

[0018] The thread of the coupling and the thread of the fitting can each have a length about the longitudinal axis, which is predetermined according to the tensile strength of the fitting in terms of the assembled state of the fitting and the isolation rod. Alternatively or additionally, the thread of the coupling includes a diameter across the longitudinal axis, which is predetermined according to the material of the fitting and / or the tensile strength of the fitting in terms of the assembled state of the fitting and the isolation rod. The thread of the coupling and the thread of the fitting are formed as fine threads to achieve precise adjustment and to stably and reliably maintain the interacting coupling, fitting and isolation rod. Therefore, the diameter and / or length of the thread is formed to be as large and / or as long as possible so that the force can be fully supported.

[0019] According to one embodiment, a high-voltage circuit breaker includes: a separation bar configured to separate electrical contacts of the high-voltage circuit breaker; and an embodiment of the above-mentioned system for adjusting the length of the separation bar. The system is directly or indirectly connected to the separation bar by means of a fitting. Since the high-voltage circuit breaker includes an embodiment of the system, the features and characteristics of the described system are also disclosed with respect to the high-voltage circuit breaker, and vice versa.

[0020] According to one embodiment, a method for adjusting the length of an isolating rod of a high-voltage circuit breaker includes providing a coupling and a fitting having corresponding threads and a given pitch. The method also includes coupling the fitting to the coupling by means of screwing using the threads, so that the coupling is coupled to the fitting in an adjustable manner. The method also includes fixedly coupling the fitting to the isolating rod. The coupling of the fitting to the isolating rod can be performed after or before the coupling to the fitting. The method also includes rotating the coupling relative to the fitting about a longitudinal axis, and thereby adjusting the length of the isolating rod.

[0021] The described method enables simple and precise adjustment of the length of the isolating rod of a high-voltage circuit breaker during assembly and contributes to stable and reliable functioning of the circuit breaker. Since the method corresponds to the adjustment process performed using an embodiment of the above-described system, the features and characteristics of the described system are also disclosed with respect to the method, and vice versa.

[0022] According to one embodiment of the method, the coupling and the fitting each comprise a fastening opening, and the method further comprises providing a fastening member, the fastening member being formed, for example, as a locking pin. The method further comprises inserting the locking pin into the fastening opening of the fitting and the fastening opening of the coupling, and thereby fixing the coupling relative to the fitting about the rotation of the longitudinal axis.

[0023] The present disclosure comprises multiple aspects, wherein every feature described with respect to one of these aspects is also disclosed herein with respect to another aspect, even if the corresponding feature is not explicitly mentioned in the context of a particular aspect.

[0024] The described system, the described high-voltage circuit breaker and the described method allow the risk of loosening of the threads during operation to be reduced. No additional fixing components such as adhesives are required to establish a safe and stable hold. In addition, the system makes it possible to reduce the risk of overloading adjacent components due to tightening torques during assembly. The coupling and the fitting are configured so that they can be connected by screwing and allow precise adjustment due to their given pitch. No special tools are required to adjust the length of the isolation rod. In addition, the mechanical stability of the coupling assembled in the bearing recess of the fitting can be significantly enhanced. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0032] The accompanying drawings are included to provide further understanding. It is to be understood that the embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings are illustrative representations and are not necessarily drawn to scale. The same reference numerals designate elements or components having the same function. As long as the elements or components correspond to each other in terms of function in different drawings, their description will not be repeated for each of the following drawings. For clarity, elements may not appear in all drawings with corresponding reference numerals.

[0033] Figure 1 An embodiment of a high voltage circuit breaker 1 is illustrated in a cross-sectional side view. The circuit breaker 1 realizes a safety switch or switchgear configured to act, for example, in a high voltage range of 10 kV or more.

[0034] The circuit breaker 1 comprises a system 10 which implements an intermediate regulating module between the operating lever mechanism of the circuit breaker 1 and the isolating rod 5, which is configured to separate the electrical contacts of the circuit breaker 1 to protect the circuit from damage caused by overcurrents such as overload or short circuit. The isolating rod 5 is connected to the moving contact part inside the circuit breaker 1 and is supported by supporting parts 2, 3 and 4 which implement elements of the supporting insulator of the circuit breaker 1. The supporting parts 2, 3 and 4 are configured to insulate the current-carrying parts of the interrupter or circuit breaker 1 from the ground.

[0035] Figures 2 to 3 An embodiment of a system 10 for adjusting the length of a disconnecting rod 5 of a circuit breaker 1 is shown in a cross-sectional side view. Figures 4 to 5 The system 10 is shown in perspective view. Figure 6 The coupling 11 of the system 10 is shown in a perspective view, and Figure 7 The fitting 12 of the system 10 is shown in perspective view. Figure 8 A flow chart of a method for adjusting the length of the disconnecting bar 5 of the circuit breaker 1 is illustrated.

[0036] The coupling 11 is formed as a single piece and comprises a coupling section 24, a shoulder section 23 and an adjustment section 22 (see Figure 3 The shoulder section 23 is respectively formed adjacently between the coupling section 24 and the adjustment section 22 with respect to the longitudinal axis A of the coupling 11. The longitudinal axis A also represents the axis of symmetry of the coupling 11, the fitting 12 and the spacer rod 5.

[0037] The coupling 11 is configured to be coupled to the lever mechanism of the circuit breaker 1 to transmit the action movement that causes the electrical contacts of the circuit breaker 1 to separate. Therefore, the coupling 11 includes a coupling opening 15 in the coupling section 24, and the coupling opening 15 provides a coupling interface for the lever of the lever mechanism. The coupling 11 tapers in the direction toward the shoulder section 23. In the adjustment section 22, the coupling 11 includes a thread 18 with a given pitch. The thread 18 is formed on the outer side of the adjustment section 22 as an external thread facing the fitting 12 (see Figure 3 and Figure 6 ).

[0038] The fitting 12 also includes a thread 19 having a given pitch, and the thread 19 is formed to cooperate with the thread 18 of the coupling 11. The fitting 12 is sleeve-shaped, and the thread 19 is formed on the inner side of the fitting 12 as an internal thread facing the coupling 11 (see Figure 3 and Figure 7 The fitting 12 is connected to the coupling 11 in an adjustably manner by means of threads 18 and 19 (see Figure 2 and Figure 3 The fitting 12 is fixedly connected to the spacer rod 5, for example by means of an adhesive connection.

[0039] The fitting 12 is formed as a single piece and comprises a coupling section 25 and a bearing section 27 (see Figure 3 The support section 27 is formed to cooperate with the shoulder section 23 of the coupling 11 and enables the insertion of the coupling 11 to be guided and stably holds the coupling 11 in a manner interacting with the shoulder section 23 .

[0040] The fitting 12 is formed as a tube or sleeve. The isolating rod 5 is also constructed as a tube or sleeve. The fitting 12 extends partially into the isolating rod 5 so that it is internally connected to the isolating rod 5 by means of a press fit and / or an adhesive connection. In addition, the coupling 11 extends partially into the fitting 12 by means of a bearing fit in the bearing section 27 and the shoulder section 23 and by means of a non-positive fit and / or a positive fit due to the threads 18, 19.

[0041] The fitting 12 is arranged between the coupling 11 and the spacer rod 5 along the longitudinal axis A. The longitudinal axis A also represents the axis of rotation of the coupling 11 relative to the fitting 12. Thus, a precise adjustment of the length of the spacer rod 5 is enabled due to the rotation of the coupling 11 relative to the fitting 12 by means of the interacting fine threads 18, 19.

[0042] The meshing thread length L can be adjusted by a given length of the adjustment section 22, which defines the adjustable distance D and the length adjustment of the isolation rod 5 (see Figure 3 and Figure 6). The adjustable distance D is given by the distance between the coupling opening 15 of the coupling 11 and the outside of the annular member 4. The engagement thread length L is configured to be, for example, as long as possible. The formation of the engagement thread length L depends on the material properties of the fitting 12 and the coupling 11 and / or the tensile strength of the fitting 12 fixedly connected to the isolation rod 5. For example, the thread 18 of the coupling 11 and the thread 19 of the fitting 12 belong to the M26 thread size and therefore have a diameter of 26mm, and the engagement thread length L should have a value of 2.3 times the diameter of the threads 18 and 19, and is therefore 59.8mm. The use of such an engagement thread length L enables complete force absorption or force distribution. However, shorter or larger lengths are also possible to set a predetermined engagement thread length and the length of the isolation rod 5 according to the intended application. The lengths of the threads 18 and 19 can be equal or different. Therefore, the length of the external thread 18 of the coupling 11 can be shorter than the length of the internal thread 19 of the fitting 12.

[0043] The coupling 11 is formed as a sleeve in the region of its thread 18 or adjustment section 22, thereby defining an internal relief recess 21. Such a deliberately formed opening can contribute to improved force distribution and tension distribution. The relief recess 21 penetrates the coupling 11 along the longitudinal axis A to a given depth and has a cylindrical shape or is cylindrically defined by a surrounding wall of the coupling 11 bearing the thread 18 at its outer surface.

[0044] The coupling 11 and the fitting 12 each comprise a fastening opening 16, 17 formed to receive a fastening member formed as a locking pin 14 (see Figures 3 to 6 ). With respect to the assembled and adjusted state of the system 10 with the spacer rod 5, the locking pin 14 extends into the fastening openings 16, 17 to resist undesired rotation of the coupling 11 relative to the fitting 12. The fastening opening 16 of the fitting is formed as an elongated hole to provide an adjustable length and still enable the locking pin 14 to extend through the fitting 12 and the coupling 11 at different length positions of the adjustable spacer rod 5.

[0045] The fastening opening 16 of the fitting 12 may be formed as a long hole opened at one side, such as Figure 4 and Figure 5 The fastening opening 17 of the coupling 11 can be formed as a cylindrical hole matching the size of the locking pin 14, such as Figures 2 to 3 as well as Figure 5 to Figure 6 Furthermore, the coupling 11 can include a further coupling opening 26, which is formed as an elongated hole which penetrates the coupling in the region of its coupling section 24 across its opening 15. The coupling opening 26 further enables a stable connection to an actuating lever mechanism of the circuit breaker 1.

[0046] Furthermore, the system 10 comprises a fixing element in the form of a spring clip 20 which is configured to fix the position of the locking pin 14 in the assembled state of the system 10 with the spacer rod 5 and in relation to the adjusted length of the spacer rod 5 .

[0047] according to Figure 8 According to the flowchart shown in the figure, the method for assembling and adjusting the length of the isolating rod 5 of the circuit breaker 1 can be performed as follows:

[0048] In step S1 , the coupling 11 and the fitting 12 are provided with their threads 18 , 19 and the associated pitches and with their respective openings 15 , 16 , 17 , 26 and / or recesses 13 , 21 .

[0049] In step S2 , the fitting 12 is fixed to the spacer rod 5 , for example by means of a press fit and / or an adhesive connection.

[0050] In step S3, the coupling 11 is coupled to the fitting 12 by screwing it into the fitting 12 until the shoulder section 23 of the coupling 11 is arranged in the bearing section 27 of the fitting 12. Thus, the fitting 12 and the coupling 11 are adjustably coupled to each other by means of the threads 18, 19.

[0051] In step S4, an adjustment of the length of the spacer rod 5 can be performed. Thereby, the coupling 11 is rotated relative to the fitting 12 about the longitudinal axis A until the desired effective length of the spacer rod 5, the fitting 12 and the coupling 11 is set.

[0052] In a further step S5 , a locking pin 14 is provided and inserted into the fastening opening 16 of the fitting 12 and the fastening opening 17 of the coupling 11 in order to fix the rotationally adjusted position of the coupling 11 relative to the fitting 12 .

[0053] The coupling 11 is thus secured in place by the locking pin 14 engaging in the fitting 12. The locking pin 14 may be secured by a spring clip 20.

[0054] The length of the spacer rod 5 can be adjusted by rotating the coupling 11 in steps of 180°. The adjustment increment is thus defined by the thread pitch. To enhance mechanical stability, the coupling 11 comprises a shoulder section 23 guided by the bearing recess 13 and the bearing section 27 of the fitting 12 to reduce the notch effect in the event of bending moments or lateral forces. In addition, the release recess 21 ensures a continuous application of force from the threads 18, 19 to the coupling 11.

[0055] As stated in Figures 1 to 8The embodiments shown in the figures represent exemplary embodiments of a system 10 for adjusting the length of a disconnecting rod 5 of a high voltage circuit breaker 1. Therefore, they do not constitute a complete list of all embodiments. The actual arrangement may differ from the embodiments shown in the figures.
