[0048] According to the present disclosure, a "non-flammable" aerosol supply system is an aerosol supply system in which the constituent aerosol generating materials of the aerosol supply system (or components thereof) facilitate delivery of at least one substance to a user without combustion or ignition.

[0049] In some embodiments, the delivery system is a non-flammable aerosol supply system, for example, a powered non-flammable aerosol supply system.

[0050] In some embodiments, the non-flammable aerosol delivery system is an electronic cigarette, also known as a vaping device or an electronic nicotine delivery system (END), although it should be noted that the presence of nicotine in the aerosol-generating material is not required.

[0051] In some embodiments, the non-flammable aerosol supply system is an aerosol generating material heating system, also known as a heat-not-burn system. An example of such a system is a tobacco heating system.

[0052] In some embodiments, the non-flammable aerosol supply system is a hybrid system that uses a combination of aerosol generating materials to generate an aerosol, wherein one or more of the aerosol generating materials can be heated. Each aerosol generating material can be, for example, in the form of a solid, liquid or gel, and may or may not contain nicotine. In some embodiments, the hybrid system includes a liquid or gel aerosol generating material and a solid aerosol generating material. The solid aerosol generating material can include, for example, tobacco or non-tobacco products.

[0053] Generally, a non-flammable aerosol supply system may include a non-flammable aerosol supply device and consumables for use with the non-flammable aerosol supply device.

[0054] In some embodiments, the present disclosure relates to consumables that include an aerosol generating material and are configured for use with a non-flammable aerosol supply device. These consumables are sometimes referred to as articles in the present disclosure.

[0055] In some embodiments, a non-flammable aerosol supply system, such as a non-flammable aerosol supply device thereof, may include a power source and a controller. The power source may be, for example, an electrical power source or an exothermic power source. In some embodiments, the exothermic power source includes a carbon substrate that can be energized to distribute power in the form of heat to an aerosol generating material or a heat transfer material proximate to the exothermic power source.

[0056] In some embodiments, a non-flammable aerosol supply system may include an area for receiving a consumable product, an aerosol generator, an aerosol generating area, a housing, a mouthpiece, a filter, and / or an aerosol modifier.

[0057] In some embodiments, consumables for use with a non-flammable aerosol supply device may include an aerosol generating material, an aerosol generating material storage area, an aerosol generating material delivery component, an aerosol generator, an aerosol generating area, a shell, packaging material, a filter, a mouthpiece, and / or an aerosol modifier.

[0058] The aerosol generating device may receive an article comprising an aerosol generating material for heating. In this context, an "article" is a component that, in use, comprises or contains an aerosol generating material that is heated to volatilize the aerosol generating material, and optionally an "article" is another component in use. A user may insert the article into the aerosol generating device before heating the article to generate an aerosol, which the user then inhales. The article may be, for example, of a predetermined or specific size, configured to be placed in a heating chamber of the device, the heating chamber being sized to receive the article.

[0059] Figure 1 An aerosol supply device 100 for generating an aerosol from an aerosol generating material is shown. In summary, the device 100 can be used to heat a replaceable article 300 comprising an aerosol generating material to generate an aerosol or other inhalable medium inhaled by a user of the device 100. The article 300 and the device 100 together form an aerosol supply system 10.

[0060] The device 100 includes a main body 101. The main body 101 includes a chamber 105, such as Figure 2 As shown. Chamber 105 defines a heating zone 107. Heating zone 107 is arranged to at least partially receive article 300. Housing 102 surrounds and houses various components of main body 101. Opening 103 is formed at one end of main body 101 and communicates with chamber 105. Article 300 can be at least partially inserted into heating zone 107 through opening 103 for aerosol generator 150 (refer to Figure 2 In use, the article 300 may be heated by one or more components of the aerosol generator 150.

[0061] The device 100 further comprises a button assembly 200 which, when pressed, operates the device 100. For example, a user may switch on the device 100 by operating the button assembly 200. The button assembly 200 may be assembled as part of other components of the aerosol supply device 100.

[0062] The aerosol generator 150 defines a longitudinal axis X.

[0063] Figure 2 A schematic cross-sectional view of device 100 is shown. Device 100 includes electrical components, such as connector / port 160, which is capable of receiving a cable to charge device 100. For example, connector 160 can be a charging port, such as a USB charging port. In some examples, connector 160 can additionally or alternatively be used to transfer data between device 100 and another device, such as a computing device.

[0064] The device 100 includes a power source 170, such as a battery, such as a rechargeable battery or a non-rechargeable battery. Examples of suitable batteries include, for example, lithium batteries (such as lithium ion batteries), nickel batteries (such as nickel cadmium batteries) and alkaline batteries. The battery is electrically connected to the aerosol generator 150 to supply power when needed and under the control of the controller to heat the aerosol generating material.

[0065] The device 100 includes an electronic module 112. The electronic module 112 may include, for example, a printed circuit board (PCB). The PCB may support at least one controller, such as a processor and a memory. The PCB may also include one or more electrical traces to electrically connect the various electronic components of the device 100 together. For example, a battery terminal may be electrically connected to the PCB so that power can be distributed throughout the device 100.

[0066] The main body 101 defines the ends of the device 100. The end of the device 100 closest to the opening 103 may be referred to as the proximal end (or mouth end) 104 of the device 100 because it is closest to the user's mouth in use. In use, the user inserts the article 300 into the opening 103, operates the aerosol generator 150 to begin heating the aerosol generating material, and draws the aerosol generated in the device. This causes the aerosol to flow through the device 100 along a flow path toward the proximal end of the device 100.

[0067] The other end of the device, which is furthest from the orifice 103, may be referred to as the distal end 106 of the device 100, because in use, it is the end furthest from the user's mouth. When the user draws on the aerosol generated in the device 100, the aerosol flows in a direction toward the proximal end of the device 100. The terms proximal and distal as applied to features of the device 100 will be described with reference to their relative positioning relative to each other in the proximal-distal direction along the longitudinal axis X.

[0068] As used herein, the term one-piece component refers to a component of the device 100 that is not separable into two or more components after assembly of the device 100. Integrally formed involves two or more features being formed as a one-piece component during the manufacturing phase of the component.

[0069] The airflow channel 180 extends through the main body 101. The airflow channel 180 extends to the air inlet 190. Other airflow arrangements are contemplated. For example, airflow may be provided between a container defining the chamber 105 and the article 300.

[0070] In one example, the aerosol generator 150 includes an induction type heating system, which includes a magnetic field generator. The magnetic field generator includes an induction coil assembly. The aerosol generator 150 includes a heating element. The heating element is also called a susceptor.

[0071] A susceptor is a material that can be heated by being penetrated with a varying magnetic field (e.g., an alternating magnetic field). The susceptor can be a conductive material such that its penetration with a varying magnetic field results in inductive heating of the heated material. The heated material can be a magnetic material such that its penetration with a varying magnetic field results in hysteresis heating of the heated material. The susceptor can be conductive and magnetic such that the susceptor can be heated by both heating mechanisms. In this article, a device configured to generate a varying magnetic field is referred to as a magnetic field generator.

[0072] The aerosol generator 150 is an induction heating assembly and includes various components for heating the aerosol generating material of the article 300 via an induction heating process. Induction heating is a process of heating an electrically conductive object (e.g., a susceptor) by electromagnetic induction. The induction heating assembly may include an induction element, such as one or more induction coils, and a device for passing a varying current (e.g., an alternating current) through the induction element. The varying current in the induction element generates a varying magnetic field. The varying magnetic field penetrates a susceptor appropriately positioned relative to the induction element and generates eddy currents within the susceptor. The susceptor has a resistance to the eddy currents, so the flow of the eddy currents against this resistance causes the susceptor to be heated by Joule heating. In the case where the susceptor comprises a ferromagnetic material (e.g., iron, nickel, or cobalt), heat may also be generated by hysteresis losses in the susceptor, i.e., by the changing orientation of magnetic dipoles in the magnetic material as a result of the alignment of the magnetic dipoles with the varying magnetic field. In induction heating, heat is generated inside the susceptor, thereby allowing rapid heating, compared to, for example, heating by conduction. Furthermore, no physical contact is required between the induction heater and the susceptor, allowing for enhanced freedom in structure and application.

[0073] The inductor coil assembly includes an inductor coil. In an embodiment, the number of inductor coils is different. In an embodiment, two or more inductor coils are used. The inductor coil assembly also includes a coil support. The coil support is tubular.

[0074] The aerosol generator 150 may additionally or alternatively include other types of heating systems. In an embodiment, the aerosol generator 150 includes a resistive heating type heating system.

[0075] The heating element is part of the heating assembly. The heating element of this example is hollow, thereby defining at least a portion of a container in which the aerosol generating material is received. For example, the article 300 can be inserted into the heating element. The heating element is tubular, having a circular cross-section. The heating element has a substantially constant diameter along its axial length.

[0076] In an embodiment, the heating assembly defines a container and the heating element stands upright in the container. The heating element may include a pin or blade arranged to penetrate the consumable. In an embodiment, the consumable includes the heating element and the aerosol supply device includes an induction coil arranged to inductively heat the heating element in the consumable.

[0077] The heating element is formed of an electrically conductive material suitable for heating by electromagnetic induction. The susceptor in this example is formed of carbon steel. It will be appreciated that other suitable materials may be used, for example ferromagnetic materials such as iron, nickel or cobalt.

[0078] In other embodiments, the features used as heating elements may not be limited to being inductively heated. The features used as heating elements may be resistively heatable. Thus, the aerosol generator 150 may include electrical contacts for electrically connecting to a device that electrically activates the heating element by passing electrical energy through the heating element.

[0079] The dimensions of the container and the article 300 are designed so that the article 300 is received by the heating element. This helps ensure efficient heating. The article 300 of this example includes an aerosol generating material. The aerosol generating material is positioned within the container. The article 300 may also include other components, such as at least one of a filter, a packaging material, and a cooling structure.

[0080] The airflow channel 180 extends from the container. The airflow channel 180 is located at the distal end. The airflow channel 180 extending from the container is defined by a flow path member 182. The heating element 220 and the flow path member 182 form a part of the airflow path arrangement 181.

[0081] The flow path member 182 extends between the heating element and the opening 190. The flow path member 182 is tubular. The flow path member 182 defines a bore. The flow path member extends in an axial direction along its length.

[0082] The cover assembly 400 is configured to selectively cover the opening 103 and will be described in more detail below.

[0083] Figure 3 shows a perspective view of a cap assembly 400 for an aerosol supply device in a closed position, and Figure 4 A perspective view of the lid assembly 400 is shown in an open position. Some components are shown transparently to allow the arrangement of features to be clearly shown and described.

[0084] The cover assembly 400 may be Figure 1 and Figure 2 The cover assembly 400 is used with the aerosol supply device 100 of the present invention and will be described with reference to the device. In an embodiment, the cover assembly 400 is used with other device arrangements. The cover assembly 400 includes a cover mechanism 401.

[0085] In summary, the cover mechanism 401 includes: a body 402, defining an opening 103 of the aerosol supply device; one or more cover members 410, 411, arranged to selectively cover the opening 103; and an actuating member 420. The actuating member 420 is shown in perspective in the figure to clearly show features hidden by the components below. One or more linking members 430 are arranged to move the cover members 410, 411 between a relative open position and a relative closed position, in which the at least a portion of the product can pass through the opening, and in the relative closed position, the at least a portion of the product is prevented from passing through the opening. The cover members 410, 411 are pivotally attached to the body 402. The actuating member 420 overlaps with the cover members 410, 411 to form the exterior of the cover mechanism 401. The actuating member 420 is exposed to the exterior of the aerosol supply device 100 and is arranged to be manually actuated by a user.

[0086] The cap assembly 400 includes a body 402. The body 402 is a portion of the main body 101 of the aerosol supply device 100. The body 402 is a rigid member. The body 402 defines a portion of the housing 102. A seal (not shown) may be provided between the body 402 and other components of the housing 102 of the aerosol supply device 100. The seal may extend around the entire circumference of the body 402. In other embodiments, the body 402 may be integrally formed with the housing 102.

[0087] The body 402 comprises an opening 404. The opening 404 is the opening 103 of the aerosol supply device 100. The opening 404 is in communication with the chamber 105. The opening 404 is sized to receive at least a portion of an article, such as the article 300, comprising an aerosol generating material.

[0088] The cover mechanism 401 of the cover assembly 400 includes the one or more cover members 410, 411, which are arranged to selectively cover the opening 404. The cover members 410, 411 cooperate to selectively cover the opening 404. In this embodiment, two cover members 410, 411 are provided. In other embodiments, a different number of cover members may be provided, such as one cover member, three cover members, four cover members, or substantially any number of cover members.

[0089] The cover mechanism 401 includes a first cover member 410 and a second cover member 411. The first cover member 410 and the second cover member 411 are adjacent to each other in a relatively closed position. The first cover member 410 defines a first edge 410a, and the second cover member 411 defines a second edge 411a. The first edge 410a and the second edge 411a are arranged to be shaped to fit each other. That is, the profiles of the first edge 410a and the second edge 411a are designed to contact each other along their entire length in a relatively closed position. The first edge 410a includes an arc portion, and the second edge 411a includes a corresponding arc portion. The first edge 410a is S-shaped, and the second edge 411a is correspondingly S-shaped. This provides a particularly space-saving arrangement of the cover members 410, 411.

[0090] In embodiments including more than two cover members 410 , 411 , each cover member may include a plurality of edges for abutting adjacent cover members 410 , 411 .

[0091] The cover members 410, 411 are interchangeable with each other. That is, the cover members 410, 411 are identical. In other embodiments, the cover members 410, 411 may be different from each other.

[0092] The description will be made with reference to a single cover member 410 , and it will be understood that the other cover member 411 includes similar or identical features.

[0093] The cover member 410 slidably contacts the body 402. The cover member 410 is substantially planar. The cover member 410 includes a blade portion 412 arranged to at least partially cover the opening 404. In embodiments including only a single cover member, the blade portion 412 is arranged to completely cover the opening 404. In embodiments including two cover members, such as Figure 3 As shown, each cover member is arranged to cover half of the opening 404, and thus together completely cover the opening 404. These proportions may be different.

[0094] The cover member 410 includes an arm 414. The arm 414 extends from the blade portion 420. The arm 414 overlaps the body 402 in both the relatively open position and the relatively closed position. Therefore, the arm 424 can be described as an overlapping portion. The blade portion 420 and the arm 414 are integrally formed. In other embodiments, the blade portion 420 and the arm 414 are separate components in a fixed relationship.

[0095] The cover member 410 includes a lower pivot pin (not shown) that serves as a pivot member. The lower pivot pin extends from the arm portion 414. The lower pivot pin 411 is spaced apart from the blade portion 420. The lower pivot pin is received in a hole in the body 402. Thus, the cover member 410 is pivotally attached to the body 402. In other embodiments, the body 402 may include a pin, and the cover member 410 may include a hole for receiving the pin.

[0096] In an embodiment, the cover member 410 may include an upper pivot pin used as a pivot member, instead of or in addition to the lower pivot pin. In such an embodiment, the body 402 may include an upper portion and a lower portion, and the cover member 410 is held between the upper portion and the lower portion. One of the upper pivot pin and the lower pivot pin may be omitted. The upper pivot pin extends from the arm portion 414. The upper pivot pin is spaced apart from the blade portion 420. The upper pivot pin extends from the opposite side of the arm portion 414 to the lower pivot pin. The upper pivot pin and the lower pivot pin are coaxial. The upper pivot pin and the lower pivot pin extend parallel to the longitudinal axial direction.

[0097] The cover member 410 is a one-piece component. The cover member 410 is integrally formed. In other embodiments, the cover member 410 can be a composite component formed from multiple parts. For example, the upper pivot pin and the lower pivot pin can be a single pin extending through the arm 414.

[0098] The cover mechanism 401 comprises an actuation member 420. The actuation member 420 is rotatably mounted on the body 402. The actuation member 420 is operable to selectively actuate the cover members 410, 411. The actuation member 420 is exposed to the outside of the aerosol supply device 100. The actuation member 420 is arranged to be manually operated by a user to actuate the cover members 410, 411.

[0099] The actuation member 420 is a substantially annular member. The actuation member 420 defines an orifice 422. The orifice 422 is centrally disposed in the actuation member 420. The orifice 422 may be omitted. The orifice 422 overlaps the opening 404 of the body 402. The orifice 422 is axially aligned with the opening 404 of the body 402. Thus, the orifice 422 communicates with the heating zone 107.

[0100] The actuation member 420 is arranged to rotate on the body 402 to actuate the cover members 410, 411. The actuation member 420 covers a portion of the body 402. That is, a portion of the body 402 extends in the actuation member 420. The rotation axis of the actuation member 420 is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the chamber 105. In an embodiment, the rotation axis is transverse or vertical.

[0101] The body 402 includes an actuation member mount 424. The actuation member 420 is rotatably engaged with the actuation member mount 424. The actuation member mount 424 substantially limits the movement of the actuation member 420 relative to the body to rotational movement. The actuation member 420 includes a locating feature 425 that engages with the actuation member mount 424. The locating feature is a ridge or other suitable feature that extends circumferentially around the inner surface of the actuation member 420.

[0102] The actuation member mount 424 includes a clamp 426 that serves as a holding arrangement. The clamp 426 is resilient. The actuation member mount 424 may include a plurality of clamps 426.

[0103] The cover members 410, 411 are disposed between the body 402 and the actuation member 420. The cover members 410, 411 are in sliding contact with the body 402. The cover members 410, 411 are in sliding contact with the actuation member 420. This arrangement helps limit the ingress of debris.

[0104] The rotation of the actuating member 420 relative to the body 402 causes the cover members 410, 411 to move between the relative open position and the relative closed position. The connecting member 430 connects the cover members 410, 411 to the actuating member 430 to achieve this movement as described in detail below. The lid assembly 400 is configured to selectively operate between the relative open position and the relative closed position. Such positions are relative to each other. In the relative open position, at least a portion of the product 300 can pass through the opening 404. In the relative closed position, the at least a portion of the product 300 is prevented from passing through the opening 404.

[0105] The term relatively open position will be understood to refer to any position in which at least a portion of the article 300 is able to pass through the opening, including the fully open position and intermediate positions that leave enough room for the portion to be inserted of the article 300. The term relatively closed position will be understood to refer to any position in which the portion of the article 300 is prevented from passing through the opening 404, including the fully closed position and intermediate positions in which there is not enough room for the article 300 to pass through the opening.

[0106] In this embodiment, in the relatively open position, the cover members 410, 411 do not overlap the opening.

[0107] In this embodiment, rotation of the actuation member 420 relative to the body 402 causes the cover members 410, 411 to move to or from the fully closed position. The term "fully closed position" will be understood to mean that the cover members 410, 411 fully close the opening 404. The terms open and closed as applied to the features of the cover mechanism 401 are described herein in relation to each other.

[0108] The cover members 410, 411 are arranged to pivot relative to the body 402. The cover members 410, 411 are arranged to pivot in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the actuating member 420. The axis of rotation of the actuating member 420 is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the chamber. Therefore, the movement of the cover members 410, 411 between the relative open position and the relative closed position is a rotation of the cover members 410, 411. In other embodiments, this movement may additionally or alternatively include a translation, i.e., a linear movement.

[0109] The cover mechanism 401 includes a plurality of connecting members 430. The connecting members 430 connect the cover members 410, 411 to the actuating member 420. The connecting members 430 provide a mechanical connection between the cover members 410, 411 and the actuating member 420. In this embodiment, the cover mechanism 401 includes one connecting member 430 for each cover member 410, 411. That is, the cover mechanism 401 includes two connecting members 430. In other embodiments, the ratio of the connecting members 430 to the cover members 410, 411 may be different. For example, two connecting members may be provided for each cover member 410, 411.

[0110] The coupling members 430 are identical. In other embodiments, the coupling members 430 may be different from each other. The description will be made with reference to a single coupling member 430, but it will be understood that another coupling member 430 includes similar or identical features.

[0111] The link member 430 is pivotally attached to the actuation member 420. The link member 430 pivots about a fixed point on the actuation member 420. In an embodiment, the link member 430 includes a pin 432 that is received in a hole in the actuation member 420. In other embodiments, the actuation member 420 includes a pin that is received in a hole in the link member 430. In other embodiments, both the link member 430 and the actuation member 420 include holes, and a separate pin is provided that is received in both holes.

[0112] The linking member 430 is pivotally attached to the cover member 410. The linking member 430 is pivotally attached to the lower side of the cover member 410.

[0113] The link member 430 pivots about a fixed point on the cover member 410. In an embodiment, the link member 430 includes a pin (not shown) that is received in a hole in the cover member 410. In other embodiments, the cover member 410 includes a pin that is received in a hole in the link member 430. In other embodiments, both the link member 430 and the cover member 410 include holes, and a separate pin is provided that is received in both holes.

[0114] The link member 430 does not linearly translate relative to the cover member 410. The link member 430 does not linearly translate relative to the actuation member 420. That is, the link member 430 is constrained to rotate only relative to each of the actuation member 420 and the cover member 410.

[0115] The link member 430 is an elongated member. The link member 430 defines a first end and a second end. The link member 430 is pivotally attached to the actuation member 420 proximally of the first end. The link member 430 is pivotally attached to the cover member 410 proximally of the second end.

[0116] The connecting member 430 is a rod. The connecting member 430 is formed of a plastic material. The connecting member 430 is formed of polyetheretherketone (PEEK). The connecting member 430 is a one-piece component. The connecting member 430 is integrally formed.

[0117] The connecting member 430 is a rigid member. This enables the connecting member 430 to push the cover member 410 and pull the cover member 410. This enables the connecting member 430 to selectively cause the cover member 410 to move in the first direction and the second direction.

[0118] The link member 430 is pivotally attached to the blade portion 412 of the cover member 410. The cover member 410 defines a first end and a second end. The link member 430 is pivotally attached to the cover member 410 proximal to the first end, and the cover member 410 is pivotally attached to the body 402 proximal to the second end.

[0119] The link member 430 is pivotally attached to the cover member 410 at a point proximal to the point of attachment of the cover member 410 to the body 402. This provides a relationship in which movement of the link member 430 produces greater movement of the blade portion of the cover member 410. This reduces the range of motion required for the actuation member and provides a spatially efficient arrangement.

[0120] Rotation of the actuation member 420 relative to the body 402 results in movement of the cover members 410, 411 via the linkage member 430. When the actuation member 420 is rotated by a user, the linkage member 430 causes the cover members 410, 411 to move between a relatively open position and a relatively closed position.

[0121] Figure 3 The cover mechanism 401 is shown in a closed position, and Figure 4 The cover mechanism 401 is shown in an open position. The cover members 410, 411 may be provided as shown in FIG. Figure 3 The closed position shown and Figure 4As shown, rotating the actuating member 420 clockwise causes the cover members 410, 411 to move toward the closed position. As shown, rotating the actuating member 420 counterclockwise causes the cover members 410, 411 to move toward the open position. In other embodiments, these directions can be reversed. In an embodiment, the cover mechanism 401 includes a lubricant.

[0122] The cover mechanism 401 includes a magnetic biasing device 440. The magnetic biasing device 440 includes a first magnetic assembly 442 coupled to the actuating member 420. The magnetic biasing device 440 includes a second magnetic assembly 444 coupled to the body 402. The first magnetic assembly 442 and the second magnetic assembly 444 are arranged to attract each other in a relative open position and a relative closed position. The first magnetic assembly 442 and the second magnetic assembly 444 are arranged to repel each other in an intermediate position between the relative open position and the relative closed position. The first magnetic assembly 442 and the second magnetic assembly 444 are arranged to bias the cover assembly 400 to a relative open position or a relative closed position according to the position of the cover assembly. That is, the first magnetic assembly 442 and the second magnetic assembly 444 are arranged to bias the cover assembly 400 to a relative open position within a range of motion adjacent to the relative open position, and the first magnetic assembly 442 and the second magnetic assembly 444 are arranged to bias the cover assembly 400 to a relative closed position within a range of motion adjacent to the relative closed position.

[0123] Figure 5 shows a schematic perspective view of a second cap assembly 500 for an aerosol supply device in a closed position, and Figure 6 FIG. 5 shows a schematic perspective view of the lid assembly 500 in an open position. The lid assembly 500 may be used with Figure 1 and Figure 2 The second cap assembly 500 is used with the aerosol supply device 100 of the present invention and will be described with reference to the device. In an embodiment, the cap assembly 400 is used with other device arrangements. The second cap assembly 500 is similar to the cap assembly 400, and the description of the common features is omitted for brevity. The features of the second cap assembly 500 are indicated by the corresponding reference numerals of the features of the first cap assembly 400 plus 100.

[0124] The cover mechanism 501 of the second cover assembly 500 includes a first cover member 510 and a second cover member 510. The first cover member 510 and the second cover member 510 are adjacent to each other in a relatively closed position. The first cover member 510 defines a first edge, and the second cover member 510 defines a second edge. The first edge and the second edge are arranged to be shaped to fit each other. That is, the profiles of the first edge and the second edge are designed to contact each other along their entire length in a relatively closed position. The first edge includes a substantially linear portion, and the second edge includes a corresponding substantially linear portion. In this embodiment, the entirety of the first edge is substantially linear, and the entirety of the second edge is substantially linear. This provides a cover mechanism 500 that facilitates manufacturing, and the components therein can be more easily aligned, facilitating assembly of the cover mechanism 500 and helping to reduce failures.

[0125] The linking members 430, 530 of the first and second cover assemblies 400, 500 provide a robust means of transferring motion from the actuation members 420, 520 to the cover members 410, 411, 510, 511. The linking members 430, 530 are less likely to become stuck or worn due to the ingress of debris than, for example, a cam mechanism or a gear mechanism.
