[0065] According to the present disclosure, a "non-flammable" aerosol supply system is an aerosol supply system in which constituent aerosol generating materials of the aerosol supply system (or components thereof) do not burn or ignite in order to facilitate delivery of at least one substance to a user.
[0066] In some embodiments, the delivery system is a non-flammable aerosol supply system, for example, an electrically powered non-flammable aerosol supply system.
[0067] In some embodiments, the non-flammable aerosol delivery system is an electronic cigarette, also known as a vaping device or an electronic nicotine delivery system (END), although it should be noted that the presence of nicotine in the aerosol-generating material is not required.
[0068] In some embodiments, the non-flammable aerosol supply system is an aerosol generating material heating system, also known as a heat-not-burn system. An example of such a system is a tobacco heating system.
[0069] In some embodiments, the non-flammable aerosol supply system is a hybrid system that uses a combination of aerosol generating materials to generate an aerosol, wherein one or more of the aerosol generating materials can be heated. Each aerosol generating material can be, for example, in the form of a solid, liquid or gel, and may or may not contain nicotine. In some embodiments, the hybrid system includes a liquid or gel aerosol generating material and a solid aerosol generating material. The solid aerosol generating material can include, for example, tobacco or non-tobacco products.
[0070] Generally, a non-flammable aerosol supply system may include a non-flammable aerosol supply device and consumables for use with the non-flammable aerosol supply device.
[0071] In some embodiments, the non-flammable aerosol supply device may include an area for receiving a consumable product, an aerosol generator, an aerosol generating area, a housing, a mouthpiece, a filter, and / or an aerosol modifier.
[0072] In some embodiments, consumables for use with a non-flammable aerosol supply device may include an aerosol generating material, an aerosol generating material storage area, an aerosol generating material delivery component, an aerosol generator, an aerosol generating area, a shell, packaging material, a filter, a mouthpiece and / or an aerosol modifier.
[0073] As used herein, the term "aerosol-generating material" is a material that is capable of generating an aerosol, for example when heated, irradiated or stimulated in any other way. The aerosol-generating material may, for example, be in solid, liquid or semi-solid (e.g. gel) form, which may or may not contain active substances and / or flavoring agents.
[0074] The aerosol-generating material may comprise one or more active substances and / or flavouring agents, one or more aerosol-former materials, and optionally one or more other functional materials.
[0075] The aerosol generating material can include a binder, such as a gelling agent, and an aerosol forming agent. Optionally, there may also be material to be delivered and / or filler. Optionally, there may also be a solvent, such as water, and one or more other components of the aerosol generating material may or may not be dissolved in the solvent. In some embodiments, the aerosol generating material is substantially free of plant material. In particular, in some embodiments, the aerosol generating material is substantially free of tobacco.
[0076] The aerosol generating material may comprise an aerosol generating film or the form of an aerosol generating film. The aerosol generating film may comprise an adhesive, such as a gelling agent, and an aerosol forming agent. Optionally, material to be delivered and / or filler may also be present. The aerosol generating film may be substantially free of plant material. In particular, in some embodiments, the aerosol generating material is substantially free of tobacco.
[0077] The aerosol-generating film may have a thickness of about 0.015 mm to about 1 mm. For example, the thickness may be in the range of about 0.05 mm, 0.1 mm or 0.15 mm to about 0.5 mm or 0.3 mm.
[0078] The aerosol-generating film may be continuous. For example, the film may comprise or be in the form of a continuous sheet of material. The sheet may be in the form of a packaging material, which may be gathered to form a gathered sheet or which may be shredded to form shredded material. The shredded material may comprise one or more strands or one or more strips of aerosol-generating material.
[0079] The aerosol-generating film may be discontinuous. For example, the aerosol-generating film may include one or more discrete portions or regions of aerosol-generating material, such as dots, strips or lines, which may be supported on a support. In such an embodiment, the support may be planar or non-planar.
[0080] The aerosol-forming film can be formed by combining a binder (e.g., a gelling agent) with a solvent (e.g., water), an aerosol former, and one or more other ingredients (e.g., one or more substances to be delivered) to form a slurry, and then heating the slurry to volatilize at least some of the solvent to form an aerosol-forming film.
[0081] The aerosol supply device may receive an article comprising an aerosol generating material for heating. In this context, an "article" is a component that comprises or contains an aerosol generating material that is heated in use to volatilize the aerosol generating material, and optionally other components in use. A user may insert the article into or onto the aerosol supply device before heating the article to generate an aerosol, which the user then inhales. The article may be, for example, of a predetermined or specific size, configured to be placed in or above such a heater, which is sized to receive the article.
[0082] An aerosol generator is a device configured to cause an aerosol to be generated from an aerosol-generating material. In some embodiments, the aerosol generator is a heater configured to subject the aerosol-generating material to thermal energy so as to release one or more volatiles from the aerosol-generating material to form an aerosol.
[0083] A consumable is an article comprising or consisting of an aerosol generating material, some or all of which is intended to be consumed by a user during use. A consumable may include one or more other components, such as an aerosol generating material storage area, an aerosol generating material delivery component, an aerosol generating area, a housing, a packaging material, a mouthpiece, a filter and / or an aerosol modifier. A consumable may also include an aerosol generator, such as a heater, which emits heat during use to cause the aerosol generating material to generate an aerosol. The heater may, for example, include a combustible material, a material that can be heated by electrical conduction, or a susceptor.

The proximal end may also be referred to as a "mouth end". The aerosol supply device 100 also defines a proximal direction, which points toward the user when in use. The aerosol supply device 100 likewise defines a distal direction, which points away from the user when in use. The terms proximal and distal applied to features of the device 100 will be described with reference to the relative positioning of such features with respect to each other in the proximal-distal direction along the longitudinal axis. The resistive heating element includes a resistive material that is configured to generate heat when a suitable current passes through it, and the heating device includes electrical contacts for supplying current to the resistive material. In an embodiment, the heating element forms at least a portion of the resistive heating member itself. Other heating devices may be used, such as an induction heating device as described below.
[0101] exist Figure 4In an embodiment, the heater 301 includes an elongated housing 302 and a heating element 350. The elongated housing 302 is an elongated member defining a longitudinal axis. The housing 302 is formed of a thermally conductive material, such as aluminum. Other suitable materials, such as stainless steel, may be used. The elongated housing 302 may include a coating on its outer surface. The elongated housing 302 is configured to transfer heat from the heating element 350 to the heating zone 201a within the aerosol supply device. In an embodiment, the heating member is a heating element.
[0102] The elongated housing 302 has a base end 303 and a free end 304. The base end 304 is mounted to the device body. A mounting member 305 at the base end 303 is mounted to the heater 301.

[0104] The free end 304 of the elongated housing 302 extends toward the proximal end of the heating chamber. The free end 304 of the heater 301 is closed, in other words, the internal void 308 does not extend through the free end 304. A tip 311 is disposed at the free end 304. The tip 311 extends to an apex 312. Other shapes and configurations of the tip 311 may be provided, for example, the tip 311 may define a planar surface.
[0105] The heating element 350 is located within the elongated housing 302 of the heater 301. Figure 6 In some embodiments, the heating element 350 extends between the base end 303 and the free end 304. In some embodiments, the heating element extends partially along the length of the internal void 308. In some embodiments, the heating element 350 extends to or beyond the open end 310.
[0106] In this embodiment, the heating coil 351 is a resistive heating coil. The heating coil 351 is a helical coil. In an embodiment, the heating member is a resistive heating element, for example in the form of a resistive coil as described above, which is provided as part of the aerosol generating article. The electrical connection may enable current to flow through the resistive heating member.
[0111] In an embodiment, the heating member is a susceptor, ie the heating member comprises a material which can be heated by a varying magnetic field.
[0112] like Figure 3 As shown, an isolation region 400 is provided. The isolation region 400 extends around the container 205. The isolation region 100 is coaxially arranged around the container 205. The isolation region 400 surrounds the container 205 and in turn surrounds the heating zone 201a. In the device 100, the isolation region 400 is arranged between the heating zone 201a and the outer surface of the housing 200.
[0113] The isolation region 400 is between the container wall 205a and the housing wall 200a. In an embodiment, the housing wall 200a forms part of the isolation region 400. In an embodiment, the container wall 205a forms part of the isolation region 400. The isolation region 400 forms part of the body of the device 100.
[0114] like Figure 3 As shown, the isolation area 400 is on the housing wall 200a. In an embodiment, the isolation area 400 is on the container wall 205a. This embodiment Figure 5 In an embodiment, the isolation area is spaced apart from the container 205. Figure 5 As shown, the isolation region 400 is in direct contact with the container 205. In an embodiment, the isolation region 400 forms part of the removal mechanism 204. In embodiments where the removal mechanism is omitted, the container is part of the body of the device 100.
[0115] Will refer to Figure 5 Isolation region 400 is described, however this description is applicable to other device arrangements, including those described above.
[0116] The isolation region 400 includes a fluid-tight chamber 410. The fluid-tight chamber 410 includes an inner wall 412 and an outer wall 414. The inner wall of the isolation region is defined by the side wall 205a of the container 205, i.e., the inner wall 412 and the side wall 205a are common walls of the fluid-tight chamber 410 and the container 205, respectively. This may mean that the device 100 is more compact, can be manufactured using less material, and the device can be more robust.
[0117] The outer wall 414 is spaced apart from the inner wall 412 in the radial direction. The outer wall 414 tapers toward the inner wall 412 at each of the proximal end 110a and the distal end 110b of the container 205. The inner wall 412 and the outer wall 414 are joined at these ends so that the space between the inner wall 412 and the outer wall 424 forms a fluid-tight chamber 410.
[0118] The fluid-tight chamber 410 contains a liquid. The liquid is water. In an embodiment, water is used as a coolant. In an embodiment, the fluid-tight chamber 410 may contain different liquids or coolants. In an embodiment, the liquid includes a coolant additive. In an embodiment, the liquid may be a mixture of two or more liquids, such as water and different liquid coolants.
[0119] The fluid-tight chamber 410 is substantially completely filled with liquid. This can help maximize the isolation properties of the isolation area. In an embodiment, the fluid-tight chamber 410 can be partially filled with liquid. This can enable the liquid to undergo a phase shift when heated to help maximize the thermal retention of the isolation area 400. For example, the fluid-tight chamber 410 can be more than half full of liquid. In an embodiment, the fluid-tight chamber can be more than 10%, more than 20%, more than 30%, or more than 40% full of liquid. The fluid-tight chamber 410 can additionally include one or more of air, vacuum, particles, and microbeads.
[0120] Heating can be more efficient by including an isolation region 400 surrounding the heating chamber 205 in the device 100. Efficiency can be further increased by including a liquid in the fluid tight chamber 410. The isolation region 400 can act as a cooling tube that can reduce external heat of the housing of the device 100.
[0121] In particular, the liquid in the isolation region 400 can act as a heat reservoir. In use, heat generated in the container 205 can be transferred to the isolation region 400 via the container wall 205. Excess heat from the heating zone 201a is stored in the liquid contained in the fluid-tight chamber 410. This means that the heat is not immediately transferred to the outside of the device 100. The heat generated by the device can be dissipated from the heat reservoir over an extended period of time and can therefore help reduce the peak temperature of the device housing.
[0122] The liquid in the isolation region 400 can disperse the heat transferred to the isolation region 400. The heat can be distributed along the longitudinal length of the device. This can reduce or eliminate any hot spots. In particular, the heat can be distributed within the liquid away from the portion of the isolation region 400 adjacent to the heating member, which means that the peak temperature of the device features adjacent to the heater is minimized. This can help ensure that the heat is more evenly distributed along the longitudinal length of the device 100.
[0123] The isolation region 400 extends completely around the sidewall 205a of the container 205 in a radially outward direction. In an embodiment, the isolation region 400 may extend only partially around the sidewall 205a. In an embodiment, the isolation region 400 may extend only partially around the coaxial extent of the container 205, i.e., around a portion of the circumference of the container. In an embodiment, the isolation region 400 may extend substantially along the entire longitudinal length of the container 205. In an embodiment, the isolation region 400 extends only partially along the longitudinal length of the container 205.
[0124] In an embodiment, the isolation area 400 includes a heat reflective element. In an embodiment, the heat reflective layer can be a coating on the inner wall 412, or a heat reflective layer applied to the inner wall 412. This can help keep the heat in the container to make the device more efficient. In an embodiment, the heat reflective element is tubular. The tubular heat reflective layer can be arranged around the container wall 205a in the first fluid-tight chamber 410.
[0125] refer to Figure 6 The embodiment shown in FIG. Figure 5 The arrangement is substantially the same, but the isolation region 400 includes a second fluid-tight chamber 420. Again, the isolation region 400 surrounds the container 205, and in turn surrounds the heating zone 201a.
[0126] The second fluid-tight chamber 420 includes an inner wall 422 and an outer wall 424. The inner wall 422 is defined by the outer wall 214 of the first fluid-tight chamber 410. This may mean that the device 100 is more compact. The outer wall 424 tapers toward the side wall 205a of the container 205 and defines the second fluid-tight chamber 420 together with the inner wall 422.
[0127] The second fluid-tight chamber 420 extends completely around the first fluid-tight chamber 410. The second fluid-tight chamber 420 is arranged to coaxially surround the first fluid-tight chamber 410. The second fluid-tight chamber 420 extends around the entire coaxial extent of the first fluid-tight chamber 410. In an embodiment, the second fluid-tight chamber 420 may extend substantially completely around the first fluid-tight chamber 410. This helps ensure that the isolation properties of the isolation area 400 are maximized. In an embodiment, the second fluid-tight chamber 420 may only partially extend around the coaxial extent of the first fluid-tight chamber 410, i.e., around a portion of the circumference of the first fluid-tight chamber 410. This can accommodate certain size constraints in compact devices.
[0128] The second fluid-tight chamber 420 is evacuated to a lower pressure than the outside of the isolation region 400. Thus, the second fluid-tight chamber 420 is a vacuum isolation chamber defining a vacuum isolation region. Providing vacuum isolation can increase the heating efficiency of the device 100.
[0129] As described above, the liquid in the first fluid-tight chamber 410 can be used as a heat reservoir. Since excess heat is stored in the liquid, less heat will be transferred to the vacuum area in the second fluid-tight chamber 420. This makes the vacuum insulation more effective because less heat passes through it.
[0130] In an embodiment, the inner wall 422 of the second fluid-tight chamber 420 and the outer wall 414 of the first fluid-tight chamber 410 are separate and different. In an embodiment, an isolation member is provided between the first fluid-tight chamber 410 and the second fluid-tight chamber 220. In an example, the wall between the first fluid-tight chamber 410 and the second fluid-tight chamber 220 includes an isolation member. The isolation member may be PEEK and a polymer. The isolation member may cover substantially all of the outer wall 414 of the first fluid-tight chamber 410. In an embodiment, the isolation member may be provided on a portion of the outer wall of the first fluid-tight chamber 410. In an embodiment, the isolation area may be a heat reflective layer.
[0131] The walls of each of the fluid-tight chambers 410, 412 and the isolation region 400 may be formed of stainless steel. In an embodiment, each wall is approximately 0.2 mm thick. In an embodiment, each wall may have a varying thickness or a different thickness from one another.
[0132] In an embodiment, the first fluid-tight chamber 410 may be a vacuum chamber that is evacuated to a lower pressure than the outside of the isolation area, and the second fluid-tight chamber 420 may be filled with a liquid.
[0133] In this embodiment, the vacuum insulation area in the first fluid-tight chamber 410 is located on the inside and outward, helping to ensure that heat conduction to the second fluid-tight chamber 420 is reduced. The liquid in the second fluid-tight chamber 420 acts as a heat reservoir to retain any heat that passes through the vacuum insulation area in the first fluid-tight chamber 410. The liquid can help distribute any heat that is transferred to the second fluid-tight chamber 420 along the longitudinal length of the container by convection within the liquid. After the device is used, the liquid in the second fluid-tight chamber 420 can slowly release heat. Since some heat can be prevented from passing through the first fluid-tight chamber 410 as a vacuum chamber, the liquid in the second fluid-tight chamber 420 can act as a more effective insulator.
[0134] In an embodiment, a heat reflecting element may be disposed between the first fluid-tight chamber and the second fluid-tight chamber to improve the efficiency of the isolation area. In an embodiment, the heat reflecting element is disposed on at least one of the inner wall 422 of the second fluid-tight chamber 420 and the outer wall 414 of the first fluid-tight chamber 410. In an embodiment, the heat reflecting element is disposed on the inner wall 422 defined by the outer wall 214 of the first fluid-tight chamber 410. In these embodiments, the heat reflecting layer is a coating on the corresponding wall. In an embodiment, the heat reflecting element is tubular and disposed between the inner wall 422 and the outer wall 421. In an embodiment, the heat reflecting element is disposed on the outer wall of the container 205.
[0135] refer to Figure 7 , showing a container for a device for use in an induction heating device.
[0136] As reference Figures 2 to 6 As described, the heating device is a resistive heating device. In an embodiment, for example Figure 7 The embodiment shown uses other types of heating devices, such as induction heating. The general construction of the device is roughly as described above.
[0137] The induction heating device comprises various components for heating the aerosol generating material of the article via an induction heating process. Induction heating is a process of heating an electrically conductive heating member (e.g., a susceptor) by electromagnetic induction. The induction heating device comprises an induction element, a coil 520, and means for passing a varying current (e.g., an alternating current) through the induction element. This is disposed in the housing of the device 100. In an embodiment, the arrangement comprises more than one induction coil.
[0138] A changing current in the inductive element generates a changing magnetic field. The changing magnetic field penetrates a susceptor appropriately positioned relative to the inductive element and generates eddy currents within the susceptor. The susceptor has a resistance to the eddy currents, so the flow of the eddy currents against this resistance causes the susceptor to be heated by Joule heating. In the case where the susceptor comprises a ferromagnetic material (such as iron, nickel or cobalt), heat can also be generated by hysteresis losses in the susceptor, i.e., by the changing orientation of magnetic dipoles in the magnetic material as a result of the alignment of the magnetic dipoles with the changing magnetic field. In induction heating, heat is generated inside the susceptor, allowing rapid heating. Furthermore, no physical contact is required between the induction heater and the susceptor, allowing for enhanced freedom in construction and application.
[0139] exist Figure 7 In the illustrated embodiment, the coil 520 is arranged around the container 205. The coil 520 is a spiral inductor coil. The heating zone 201a is formed in the container. The container 205 has a side wall 205a and a bottom wall 205b. The side wall 205a includes or is made of a heating material that can be heated by penetrating it with a changing magnetic field to cause heating in the heating zone 201a. In an embodiment, the inner wall 110 can be formed of steel. However, nickel-cobalt iron alloys, such as nickel-cobalt iron alloys, can also be used. In an embodiment, the base wall 205b also includes a heating material. This may mean that the heating zone 201a has consistent heating within the container 205.
[0140] An isolation region 400 is provided. An inductive coil 520 extends around the isolation region 400 and in turn around the container 205. The inductive coil 520 surrounds the heating chamber 400. The inductive coil 520 extends along the entire longitudinal length of the container.
[0141] In an embodiment, the inductive coil 520 may extend along a portion of the longitudinal length of the container 205. In an embodiment, the inductive coil 520 may surround only a portion of the distal end or the proximal end of the container 205. In an embodiment, more than one inductive coil 520 may be provided. In an embodiment, the coil 420 may be disposed within the isolation region 400.
[0142] Isolation area 400 and about Figure 5 The isolation regions described are substantially the same. The isolation region 400 includes a first fluid-tight chamber 410 containing a liquid. In an embodiment, the inner wall 412 of the first fluid-tight chamber 410 may be shared with the side wall 205a of the container 205. Therefore, the inner wall 412 of the first fluid-tight chamber 410 may include a material that can be heated by being penetrated by a changing magnetic field, or be made of such a material.
[0143] In an embodiment, the second fluid-tight chamber 420 may be provided as part of the induction heating device. The second fluid-tight chamber 420 may be substantially as described above with respect to Figure 6 as described.
[0144] In an embodiment, the wall of the container 205 may be free of heating material. Alternatively, the heating member may be provided in an aerosol-generating article that is configured to be inserted into the heating zone 201a. Thus, when the article including the aerosol-generating material is located in the heating zone 201a, the article is heated by the induction heating device to generate an aerosol.
[0145] In an embodiment, the induction heating member is provided as a pin or blade extending into the container and comprises a heating material that is heatable by the induction heating device to generate the aerosol.
[0146] In an embodiment, the isolation region partially surrounds the container and the heating zone. In an embodiment, the isolation region surrounds the distal end or the proximal end of the container. In an embodiment, the isolation region surrounds the container only along a portion of the coaxial circumference of the container.
[0147] In an embodiment, the second fluid-tight chamber is omitted, so that only the first chamber comprises the liquid.
[0148] In an embodiment, the second fluid-tight chamber is also partially or substantially filled with liquid. This can replace the vacuum isolation chamber. In an embodiment, another additional fluid-tight chamber can be provided. In an embodiment where the fluid-tight chamber or each fluid-tight chamber is partially filled with liquid, the fluid-tight chamber or each fluid-tight chamber is evacuated to a pressure lower than the outside of the isolation area 400. In an embodiment, the fluid-tight chamber or each fluid-tight chamber is at the same pressure as the outside of the isolation area 400.
[0149] In an embodiment, a fluid-tight chamber comprising a liquid, as described in any of the above embodiments, in combination with additional isolating means is provided. The fluid-tight chamber comprising a liquid and the additional isolating means may form an isolating area.
[0150] In an embodiment, a solid insulating material is provided as an additional insulating device. The solid insulating material can be arranged between the container and the fluid-tight chamber comprising the liquid. The solid insulating material can be arranged on the radially outer side of the fluid-tight chamber. This means that the heat transfer to the outside of the device housing will be less. In an embodiment, the additional insulating device can be an air gap, an aerogel or a plastic insulating device. The additional insulating device can be arranged on the radially inner side or the radially outer side of the fluid-tight chamber.
[0151] In an embodiment, further additional isolation means may be provided on the other of the radially inner side or the radially outer side of the fluid sealing chamber. The third isolation device may be any one of the above isolation devices.
