[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0002] This application claims the benefit of Korean Patent Application No. 10-2022-0068486, filed on June 3, 2022, and No. 10-2023-0040565, filed on March 28, 2023, which are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety into this application. Technical Field
[0003] The present invention relates to a laser cutting device, and more particularly, to a laser cutting device for cutting electrodes used during the manufacture of secondary batteries. Background Art
[0004] In recent years, as energy prices have risen due to the depletion of fossil fuels and concerns about environmental pollution have increased, the demand for environmentally friendly alternative energy sources is essential for future life. Therefore, research on various power generation technologies using solar energy, wind energy, tidal energy, etc. continues, and people continue to have great interest in energy storage systems such as batteries to more efficiently use the electricity generated by these technologies.
[0005] In addition, with the technological development and increase in demand for mobile electronic devices and electric vehicles using batteries, the demand for batteries as energy sources has rapidly increased. Therefore, a lot of research has been conducted on batteries that can meet various needs.
[0006] Batteries that store electrical energy can generally be divided into primary batteries and secondary batteries. Primary batteries are disposable batteries, while secondary batteries are rechargeable batteries made using materials that can repeatedly undergo an oxidation-reduction process between current and matter. That is, when current undergoes a reduction reaction on the material, the power source is charged, and when an oxidation reaction occurs on the material, the power source is discharged. This charging and discharging is repeated to generate electricity.
[0007] Generally, such a secondary battery is completely manufactured by applying an electrode mixture in which an electrode active material, a conductive material, a binder, etc. are mixed onto an electrode current collector, drying the electrode current collector to manufacture an electrode, stacking the manufactured electrode together with a separator, and embedding and sealing it in a battery case together with an electrolyte.
[0008] Here, an electrode sheet is manufactured by applying an electrode active material to an elongated sheet-shaped electrode current collector, and an electrode is manufactured by performing a slotting process of cutting the electrode sheet into a desired shape and then cutting the electrode sheet to a desired length.
[0009] In the groove forming process according to the related art, a method of physically cutting the electrode using a die, a method of cutting the electrode by emitting a laser, and the like are adopted.
[0010] The method using a die has a problem that the cost of polishing the die increases due to the deterioration of the die, resulting in deterioration of the economic feasibility of the process, and replacement of the die causes the equipment to be immobile. The method emitting a laser also has a problem that the economic feasibility is deteriorated due to the cost and time required for equipment replacement.
[0011] In order to solve these problems, a laser cutting device that efficiently performs an electrode groove process using laser is required. Summary of the invention

[0043] Furthermore, the terms or words used in the specification and claims should not be restrictively interpreted as ordinary meanings or dictionary-based meanings, but should be interpreted as meanings and concepts consistent with the scope of the present invention based on the principle that the inventor can appropriately define the concepts of the terms in the best manner to describe and interpret his or her invention.
[0044] Figure 1 1 is a perspective view schematically showing a laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention.
[0045] As in Embodiment 1, the present invention provides a laser cutting device 10 for slotting a moving electrode sheet S to provide an electrode tab T.
[0046] Reference Figure 1 , the laser cutting device 10 according to the present invention may include a laser emitter 100 , a roller 200 and a mask fixture 300 .
[0047] The process of forming the electrode tab T during the manufacture of the secondary battery is a process of cutting a portion of the end of the metal current collector not coated with the active material to have the shape of the electrode tab T, and may adopt a cutting process using a device such as a punch that performs perpendicular intersecting motion, a laser cutting process that emits laser to perform cutting, etc. The present invention relates to a laser cutting device 10 used in the laser cutting process.
[0048] As an example of a component that emits laser light for cutting the electrode sheet S, the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may include a laser emitter 100 .
[0049] In order to cut both ends of the electrode sheet S, the laser cutting device 10 may include a pair of laser emitters 100 that emit laser light at positions different from each other.
[0050] The laser emitter 100 may repeatedly emit laser along a preset path to the grooved area of the electrode sheet S. Here, the method for emitting laser along the preset path may include a method in which the laser emitter 100 emits laser while moving, or a method in which only the laser irradiation position is changed in a fixed laser emitter 100.
[0051] Figure 2 2 is a perspective view schematically showing the drum 200 , the mask jig 300 , and the foreign matter ejector 400 of the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention. Figure 3 1 is a perspective view schematically showing the drum 200 of the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention. Figure 4 1 is a perspective view schematically showing the mask jig 300 of the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention.
[0052] As an example of a member for moving the electrode sheet S, the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may include a drum 200 .
[0053] The drum 200 may move the electrode sheet S while being in contact with the electrode sheet S. Specifically, a portion of the drum 200 that is in contact with the electrode sheet S may move the electrode sheet S while rotating.
[0054] Reference Figure 2 and Figure 3 The drum 200 may have a substantially cylindrical shape. In addition, the drum 200 may be disposed on a side opposite to the laser emitter 100, with the electrode sheet S located between the drum 200 and the laser emitter 100. Therefore, the laser may be emitted to a surface opposite to the surface in contact with the drum 200.
[0055] As an example of a member for preventing the electrode sheet S from moving during the groove forming process, the laser cutting apparatus 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may include a mask jig 300 .
[0056] To support the grooved area of the electrode sheet S, the mask jig 300 may be disposed on a side opposite to the laser emitter 100 and in close contact with the grooved area of the electrode sheet S, the grooved area being located between the mask jig 300 and the laser emitter 100. Specifically, the mask jig 300 may be mounted on the drum 200.
[0057] When laser cutting is performed in a state where the electrode sheet S is in close contact with the mask jig 300 , interruption factors such as unnecessary movement of the electrode sheet S may be reduced.
[0058] The mask jig 300 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention is detachably mounted on the drum 200. That is, the mask jig 300 is a separate component from the drum 200 and can be mounted on the drum 200, and can be detached from the drum 200 when replacement is required.
[0059] In this regard, when the mask clamp 300 is removed from the drum 200, interference with other components may not occur. According to the prior art, interference with other components occurs when the mask clamp 300 is replaced, and therefore, a large amount of time is required to replace the mask clamp 300. In contrast, in the laser cutting device 10 according to embodiment 1 of the present invention, when the mask clamp 300 is removed, interference with other components may not occur on the path on which the mask clamp 300 moves. That is, since the mask clamp 300 can be removed from the drum 200 without interfering with other components, the time required for replacement can be reduced, and thus processing efficiency can be improved. The drum 200 according to embodiment 1 of the present invention may include a rotating portion 210 and a fixing portion 220.
[0060] The rotating part 210 and the fixing part 220 of the drum 200 can be distinguished according to whether they rotate. Specifically, the rotating part 210 can rotate to move the electrode sheet S, the fixing part 220 can be arranged at one side of the rotating part 210 in the axial direction, and the mask jig 300 can be installed on the fixing part 220.
[0061] Regarding the positions of the drum 200 and the electrode sheet S, the slotted area of the electrode sheet S may be disposed at a position corresponding to the fixing portion 220 of the drum 200 , and the portion of the electrode sheet S other than the slotted area may be disposed at a position corresponding to the rotating portion 210 of the drum 200 .
[0062] When laser cutting is performed at both ends of the electrode sheet S, the laser cutting device 10 according to the first embodiment of the present invention may include a pair of rollers 200 and a pair of mask jigs 300 respectively mounted on the pair of rollers 200. Here, the rollers 200 may be arranged symmetrically to each other, such that the rotating part 210 is arranged inside each roller 200, and the fixing part 220 is arranged outside each roller 200.
[0063] As an example of a member for effectively installing the mask jig 300 , a fixing groove 230 may be provided in the fixing portion 220 of the drum 200 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention. That is, the mask jig 300 may be fitted into the fixing groove 230 of the fixing portion 220 .
[0064] The fixing groove 230 may be concavely provided corresponding to the shape of the mask jig 300 for assembling the mask jig 300 .
[0065] Here, one surface of the mask jig 300 in contact with the electrode sheet S may be disposed on the same curved surface as the curved surface provided by the fixing portion 220. Therefore, the grooved region of the electrode sheet S may be in close contact with each of the fixing portion 220 and the mask jig 300, so that the stability of the electrode sheet S may be improved during processing.
[0066] The mask jig 300 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may include an opposing portion 310 and a coupling portion 320 .
[0067] Reference Figure 2 and Figure 4 The opposing portion 310 of the mask jig 300 may have a shape convexly bent toward the grooved region of the electrode sheet S and may be disposed to face the grooved region. In addition, the coupling portion 320 of the mask jig 300 may be connected to the opposing portion 310 to be coupled to the drum 200 .
[0068] Reference Figure 4 The mask jig 300 including the opposite portion 310 and the coupling portion 320 may have a partially bent shape. Specifically, the mask jig 300 may have a shape in which the coupling portion 320 is bent to be connected to one end of the opposite portion 310.
[0069] The opposing portion 310 may have a substantially curved plate shape, and the coupling portion 320 may have a substantially plate shape.
[0070] As an example of a member for fixing the mask jig 300 to the fixing groove 230, a protrusion 313 having a shape extending in a direction away from the coupling portion 320 may be provided on the side surface of the opposing portion 310 according to the embodiment 1 of the present invention. In addition, in the fixing portion 220, a side groove 231 having a shape corresponding to the protrusion 313 may be defined in the inner side surface defining the fixing groove 230. Therefore, when the protrusion 313 is inserted into the side groove 231, the mask jig 300 may be fixed to the fixing groove 230.
[0071] Specifically, the protrusion 313 may be provided on both side surfaces of the opposite portion 310 connected to the coupling portion 320. Therefore, when the mask jig 300 is inserted into the fixing groove 230, the insertion may start as one end of the protrusion 313 is inserted into the side groove 231. In addition, in a state where the protrusion 313 is fully inserted into the side groove 231, the coupling portion 320 may also be provided in a state where it is inserted into the fixing groove 230.
[0072] When the mask jig 300 is fixed to the fixing groove 230 in a state where the protrusion 313 is inserted into the side groove 231 , the mask jig 300 may be prevented from moving in a direction facing the electrode sheet S, thereby improving the fixing force of the mask jig 300 .
[0073] In addition, when the protrusion 313 of the opposing portion 310 has a shape extending in a direction away from the coupling portion 320 on the side surface, the mask clamp 300 can be detached from the side surface of the fixing portion 220 in the length direction of the drum 200. Therefore, the mask clamp 300 can be easily detached from the fixing portion 220.
[0074] The mask jig 300 may include an opposing portion 310 to effectively prevent the electrode sheet S from moving, and may include a coupling portion 320 to be effectively mounted on the drum 200 .
[0075] As an example of a method of mounting the coupling portion 320 of the mask jig 300 on the fixing portion 220 of the drum 200 , the mounting may be performed by a method using a coupling member such as a bolt.
[0076] Specifically, a hole is defined on one surface of the fixing portion 220 of the drum 200 for mounting the coupling portion 320, into which the coupling member can be inserted, and a hole having a similar shape can also be defined in the coupling portion 320. Therefore, the coupling portion 320 can be mounted on the fixing portion 220 while the coupling member passes through all the holes of the coupling portion 320 and the holes of the fixing portion 220.
[0077] The coupling portion 320 of the mask jig 300 may also be mounted on the fixing portion 220 of the drum 200 by methods other than the above-described examples.
[0078] As an example of a component for achieving durability, the opposing portion 310 of the mask jig 300 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may include a stainless steel material. In addition, in the opposing portion 310, one surface facing the grooved region may be coated with an AlCrN-based material. Specifically, in the opposing portion 310, one surface facing the grooved region may be coated with AlCrNOS.
[0079] Here, preferably, STS420 may be used as the stainless steel constituting the opposing portion 310 .
[0080] The opposing portion 310 of the mask jig 300 made of a stainless steel material and coated with AlCrNOS may have improved durability, wear resistance, etc. Therefore, the replacement interval of the mask jig 300 may be increased, and the long-term cost required to perform processing may be reduced, thereby improving the economic feasibility of processing.
[0081] As an example of a component for an efficient notching process, the opposing portion 310 of the mask jig 300 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may have a cutting hole 311 and a foreign matter collecting hole 312 defined therein.
[0082] Reference Figure 4 The cutting hole 311 may be a space through which the laser beam that has cut the slotted area passes, and the foreign matter collecting hole 312 may be a space into which foreign matter generated when cutting the slotted area is introduced.
[0083] When the moved electrode tab S is cut to have a desired shape by emitting laser, the cutting hole 311 provided at the opposite portion 310 of the portion where the electrode tab T is provided may have a shape determined according to the shape of the electrode tab T provided by cutting.
[0084] In addition, when the cutting shapes of both ends of the electrode sheet S are different, the shapes of the cutting holes 311 respectively defined in the opposing portions 310 of the pair of mask jigs 300 may be different from each other.
[0085] Reference Figure 4 The foreign matter collecting hole 312 according to embodiment 1 of the present invention can be set at two positions spaced apart from the cutting hole 311, and the shape and position of the foreign matter collecting hole 312 can be determined based on the position where a large amount of foreign matter accumulates when performing processing.
[0086] As an example of a component into which the foreign matter collected through the foreign matter collecting hole 312 moves, the drum 200 of the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may further include a chamber defined therein.
[0087] Specifically, the drum 200 may be defined with a connection hole 240 passing through one surface in the axial direction, and the chamber may be communicated with the foreign matter collection hole 312 and the connection hole 240. Here, the connection hole 240 may be defined in one surface of the fixed portion 220 of the drum 200 opposite to the surface contacting the rotating portion 210, and the chamber may be defined inside the fixed portion 220.
[0088] Foreign matter collected into the drum 200 in the foreign matter collecting hole 312 may move along the chamber to be discharged to the outside through the connection hole 240 .
[0089] As an example of a member for discharging foreign matter to the outside, the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may further include a foreign matter ejector 400 .
[0090] The foreign matter ejector 400 may be provided to communicate with the connection hole 240 of the drum 200, and may eject foreign matter generated when the grooved area is cut from the inside of the drum 200 to the outside. The foreign matter ejector 400 may be connected to the drum 200 through the connection hole 240 of the drum 200, and receive foreign matter through the connection hole 240 to eject it to the outside.
[0091] As described above, when cutting is performed on both sides of the electrode sheet S, the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may include a pair of foreign matter ejectors 400 .
[0092] When foreign materials generated during processing and accumulated inside the fixing portion 220 of the drum 200 are discharged by the foreign material discharger 400 , equipment downtime required for cleaning the foreign materials may be reduced to improve processing efficiency.
[0093] As an example of a component for effectively discharging foreign matter, the foreign matter ejector 400 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may include a first tube 410 and a second tube 420 .
[0094] The first tube 410 may have an open upper portion so that foreign matter generated when cutting the slotted area is introduced into the first tube 410 through the open upper portion. That is, in addition to receiving foreign matter from the inside of the fixing portion 220 of the drum 200 through the connection hole 240, the first tube 410 may also receive foreign matter through the open upper portion.
[0095] The first tube 410 may have one end connected to the fixing portion 220 of the drum 200 and the other end connected to the second tube 420 .
[0096] The second tube 420 may be connected to the other end of the first tube 410 to extend in a direction away from the drum 200 .
[0097] The first tube 410 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may have a shape extending horizontally, and the second tube 420 may have a shape partially bent to extend downward. If necessary, each of the first tube 410 and the second tube 420 may have a different shape.
[0098] As an example of a member for providing a force for moving foreign matter in the foreign matter ejector 400 , the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may further include a suction device.
[0099] An inhaler may be connected to the second tube 420 of the foreign matter ejector 400 to suction the foreign matter drawn into the second tube 420 .
[0100] The laser cutting device 10 may include an aspirator to prevent foreign matter from continuously accumulating therein.
[0101] As described above, when cutting is performed on both sides of the electrode sheet S, the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may include a pair of suckers.
[0102] The following is an overview of the paths that foreign matter generated when cutting the slotted area moves.
[0103] The foreign matter may be introduced into the chamber inside the drum 200 through the foreign matter collecting hole 312 of the mask jig 300, and the foreign matter moves along the chamber to the connecting hole 240. Thereafter, the foreign matter may move to the first pipe 410 of the foreign matter ejector 400 through the connecting hole 240, so that the foreign matter is sucked into the inhaler along the first pipe 410 and the second pipe 420. The foreign matter may be ejected to the outside through this process.
[0104] In addition, foreign matter may be introduced into the first tube 410 through the opened upper portion of the first tube 410 , thereby being sucked into the inhaler along the second tube 420 .
[0105] Figure 5 1 is a plan view schematically showing a state where an electrode sheet S is grooved using the laser cutting device 10 according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
[0106] Reference Figure 5 , it can be roughly seen that the state in which the electrode tab T is provided by the laser cutting device 10 according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
[0107] exist Figure 5 In the figure, when the electrode sheet S moves from left to right, the electrode sheet S on the left side is in a state before being cut by the laser cutting device 10, and the electrode sheet S on the right side is in a state after being cut.
[0108] like Figure 5 As shown in the upper and lower parts of the electrode sheet S, the electrode sheet S can be cut to have different shapes on both sides thereof. Here, the electrode sheet S can have one end where the uncoated portion is processed to provide the electrode tab T, and the other end where the portion coated with the active material is cut to have a desired shape.
[0109] The laser cutting device 10 according to the embodiment 1 of the present invention can reduce the time required to replace the equipment when the electrode sheet S is changed, and increase the interval between replacing the equipment due to degradation to improve economic feasibility. In addition, a mask fixture 300 for preventing the electrode sheet S from moving during processing can be included to improve processing efficiency.
[0110] Figure 6 1 is a perspective view schematically showing a drum, a mask jig 300 and a foreign matter ejector 400 of a laser cutting apparatus according to Embodiment 2 of the present invention.
[0111] As in Embodiment 2, the present invention provides a laser cutting device including rollers having different shapes.
[0112] Hereinafter, detailed description of the same components as those of the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention will be omitted.
[0113] When laser cutting is performed on both sides of the electrode sheet S, each of the components included in the laser cutting device 10 according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention may be provided as a pair. That is, the roller 200 according to Embodiment 1 may also be provided as a pair, but the laser cutting device according to Embodiment 2 of the present invention may include one roller having an elongated shape.
[0114] Reference Figure 6In the drum, the rotating part 210 may be disposed in the middle, and the fixing parts 220a and 220b may be disposed at both sides of the rotating part 210, respectively. Here, the fixing parts 220a and 220b of the drum may be disposed symmetrically to each other with respect to the rotating part 210.
[0115] Therefore, a middle portion of the electrode sheet S where cutting is not performed may contact the rotating portion 210 of the drum, and both ends of the electrode sheet S where cutting is performed may contact the fixing portions 220a and 220b provided at both sides of the drum, respectively.
