Description

Technical Field

[0001] Various example embodiments relate to wireless communications. Background Art

[0002] In dual connectivity such as multi-radio access technology (RAT) dual connectivity (MR-DC), a given terminal device can be served by two different random access network (RAN) nodes: a primary (RAN) node (MN) and a secondary (RAN) node. The MN is associated with a primary cell group (PCG) including a primary cell (PCell) and optionally one or more secondary cells (SCells), while the SN is associated with a secondary cell group (SCG) including one or more primary and secondary cells (PSCells) and optionally one or more secondary cells (SCells). There are two different mechanisms for conditional reconfiguration in MR-DC: conditional handover (CHO) for conditional reconfiguration of the primary cell (PCell), and conditional primary and secondary cell addition / change (CPAC) for conditional reconfiguration of the PSCell. In order to implement handover for both PCell and PSCell, the execution conditions of both CHO and CPAC need to be met by the terminal device. In some cases, the CPAC execution condition may be met when the CHO execution condition is not met. In this case, according to current practice, the terminal device still continues to evaluate the execution conditions of both CHO and CPAC until the CHO execution condition is also met. [0011] The following embodiments are given as examples only. Although this specification may refer to "one", "an" or "some" embodiments and / or examples in several places in the text, this does not necessarily mean that each reference refers to the same embodiment or example, or that a particular feature applies only to a single embodiment and / or example. Individual features of different embodiments and / or examples may also be combined to provide other embodiments and / or examples.

[0012] As used herein, “at least one of: ” and “at least one of ” and similar expressions (wherein a list of two or more elements is connected by “and” or “or”) refer to at least any one of the elements, or at least any two or more of the elements, or at least all of the elements.

[0013] In the following, different example embodiments will be described using a radio access architecture based on Advanced Long Term Evolution (LTE-Advanced, LTE-A) or New Radio (NR, 5G) as an example of an access architecture to which the embodiments may be applied, without however limiting the embodiments to such an architecture. It is obvious to a person skilled in the art that the embodiments may also be applied to other kinds of communication networks with suitable methods by appropriately adjusting the parameters and procedures. Some examples of other options for suitable systems are Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Radio Access Network (UTRAN or E-UTRAN), Long Term Evolution (LTE, same as E-UTRA), Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN or WiFi), Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), Personal Communications Service (PCS), Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA), systems using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, sensor networks, mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), and Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), or any combination thereof.

[0014] Figure 1 An example of a simplified system architecture is depicted showing only some elements and functional entities which are all logical units, the implementation of which may differ from what is shown. Figure 1The connections shown in are logical connections; the actual physical connections may be different. It is obvious to those skilled in the art that the system typically includes in addition to Figure 1 Other functions and structures than those shown.

[0015] However, the embodiments are not limited to the system given as an example, but a person skilled in the art may apply the solution to other communication systems having the necessary characteristics.

[0016] Figure 1 The example of FIG. 1 shows a portion of an exemplary radio access network.

[0017] The communication system usually includes more than one (e / g)NodeB, in which case, the (e / g)NodeB can also be configured to communicate with each other through a wired or wireless link designed for this purpose. These links can be used for signaling purposes. (e / g)NodeB is a computing device configured to control the radio resources of the communication system to which it is coupled. NodeB can also be referred to as a base station, an access point or any other type of interface device including a relay station capable of operating in a wireless environment. (e / g)NodeB includes or is coupled to a transceiver. From the transceiver of the (e / g)NodeB, a connection to an antenna unit is provided, which establishes a bidirectional radio link to a user equipment. The antenna unit may include multiple antennas or antenna elements. (e / g)NodeB is further connected to a core network 110 (CN or next generation core NGC). Depending on the system, the counterpart on the CN side may be a service gateway (S-GW, routing and forwarding user data packets), a packet data network gateway (P-GW), or a mobile management entity (MME) etc. for providing connectivity of a user equipment (UE) to an external packet data network.

[0018] User equipment (also referred to as UE, user equipment, user terminal, terminal device, etc.) shows a type of device to which resources on the air interface are allocated and assigned, and therefore any features of the user equipment described herein can be implemented using corresponding devices such as relay nodes. An example of such a relay node is a third-layer relay (self-backhaul relay) toward a base station. The user equipment may include a mobile device and at least one universal integrated circuit card (UICC).

[0019] User equipment generally refers to a portable computing device, which includes wireless mobile communication equipment that operates with or without a subscriber identity module (SIM) or UICC, including but not limited to the following types of equipment: mobile stations (mobile phones), smart phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), handsets, equipment using wireless modems (alarm or measurement equipment, etc.), laptop and / or touch screen computers, tablet computers, game consoles, notebooks, and multimedia devices. It should be appreciated that user equipment can also be almost the only uplink device, an example of which is a camera or video camera that loads images or video clips to the network. User equipment can also be a device with the ability to operate in an Internet of Things (IoT) network, which is a scenario in which objects are provided with the ability to transmit data on the network without human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. User equipment (or in some embodiments, a third-layer relay node) is configured to perform one or more of the user equipment functions. User equipment can also be referred to as a subscriber unit, a mobile station, a remote terminal, an access terminal, a user terminal, or a user equipment (UE), just to mention a few names or devices.

[0020] The various techniques described herein may also be applied to cyber-physical systems (CPS) (systems that coordinate computing elements to control physical entities). CPS enables the implementation and development of a large number of interconnected ICT devices (sensors, actuators, processor microcontrollers, etc.) embedded in physical objects at different locations. Mobile cyber-physical systems, where the physical systems discussed have inherent mobility, are a subcategory of cyber-physical systems. Examples of mobile physical systems include mobile robots and electronic devices transported by humans or animals.

[0021] It should be understood that Figure 1 In the figure, for the sake of clarity, the user equipment is depicted as comprising only two antennas. The number of receiving and / or transmitting antennas may naturally vary according to the current implementation.

[0022] Additionally, although the apparatus has been depicted as a single entity, different units, processors and / or memory units (in Figure 1 Not all are shown) can be implemented.

[0023] 5G allows the use of multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antennas, more base stations or nodes than LTE (the so-called small cell concept), including macro sites operating in coordinated operation with smaller stations and adopting various radio technologies depending on service needs, use cases and / or available spectrum. 5G mobile communications support a wide range of use cases and related applications, including video streaming, augmented reality, different data sharing methods and various forms of machine-type applications, including vehicle safety, different sensors and real-time control. 5G is expected to have multiple radio interfaces, namely below 6GHz, cmWave and mmWave, and can also be integrated with existing traditional radio access technologies (such as LTE). At least in the early stages, integration with LTE can be implemented as a system in which macro coverage is provided by LTE and 5G radio interface access is achieved by aggregation of small cells to LTE. In other words, 5G is planned to support both inter-RAT operability (such as LTE-5G) and inter-RI operability (inter-radio interface operability, such as below 6GHz-cmWave, below 6GHz-cmWave-mmWave). One of the concepts considered to be used in 5G networks is network slicing, where multiple independent and dedicated virtual subnetworks (network instances) can be created within the same infrastructure to run services with different requirements for latency, reliability, throughput and mobility.

[0024] The current architecture in LTE networks is completely distributed in the radio and completely concentrated in the core network. Low-latency applications and services in 5G need to bring content close to the radio, which leads to local disconnection and multi-access edge computing (MEC). 5G enables analysis and knowledge generation to occur at the data source. This approach requires the use of resources that may not be continuously connected to the network, such as laptops, smart phones, tablet computers and sensors. MEC provides a distributed computing environment for application and service hosting. It also has the ability to store and process content near cellular subscribers to obtain faster response times. Edge computing covers a wide range of technologies, such as wireless sensor networks, mobile data collection, mobile signature analysis, collaborative distributed peer-to-peer self-organizing networking and processing, which can also be classified as local cloud / fog computing and grid / grid computing, dew computing, mobile edge computing, micro-cloud, distributed data storage and retrieval, automatic self-healing networks, remote cloud services, augmented and virtual reality, data caching, Internet of Things (large-scale connectivity and / or latency critical), critical communications (autonomous vehicles, traffic safety, real-time analysis, time-critical control, medical applications).

[0025] The communication system may also be capable of communicating with other networks, such as the public switched telephone network or the Internet 112, or utilizing services provided by them. The communication network may also be capable of supporting the use of cloud services, for example, at least a portion of the core network operations may be implemented as a cloud service (this may be in the context of Figure 1 114). The communication system may also include a central control entity or the like, which provides facilities for networks of different operators to collaborate, for example in spectrum sharing.

[0026] The edge cloud can be brought into the RAN by leveraging network function virtualization (NVF) and software defined networking (SDN). Using edge cloud can mean that access node operations are at least partially implemented in a server, host or node operatively coupled to a remote radio head or unit (RU) or a base station including a radio part. Node operations may also be distributed between multiple servers, nodes or hosts. The application of cloud RAN architecture enables RAN real-time functions to be implemented on the RAN side (in distributed units, DU104) and non-real-time functions to be implemented in a centralized manner (in a central or centralized unit, CU108). Therefore, in summary, the RAN may include at least one distributed access node, which includes a central unit, one or more distributed units communicatively connected to the central unit, and one or more (remote) radio heads or units, each radio head or unit communicatively connected to at least one of the one or more distributed units.

[0027] It should also be understood that the labor distribution between core network operations and base station operations may be different from that of LTE or even non-existent. Some other technological advances that may be used are big data and all-IP, which may change the way networks are being constructed and managed. 5G (or New Radio, NR) networks are designed to support multiple layers, where MEC servers can be placed between the core and base stations or Node Bs (gNBs). It should be appreciated that MEC can also be applied to 4G networks.

[0028] 5G can also make use of satellite communications to enhance or supplement the coverage of 5G services, for example by providing backhaul. Possible use cases are to provide service continuity for machine-to-machine (M2M) or Internet of Things (IoT) devices or for passengers on vehicles, or to ensure service availability for critical communications and future rail / sea / air communications. Satellite communications can make use of geostationary orbit (GEO) satellite systems, but can also make use of low earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems, in particular mega constellations (systems in which hundreds of (nano) satellites are deployed). Each satellite 106 in a mega constellation can cover several satellite-enabled network entities that create ground cells. Ground cells can be created by relay nodes 104 on the ground or by gNBs located on the ground or in satellites.

[0029] It is obvious to a person skilled in the art that the depicted system is only an example of a part of a radio access system and that in practice the system may already include multiple (e / g)NodeBs, user equipment may have access to multiple radio cells and the system may also include other devices such as physical layer relay nodes or other network elements. At least one of the (e / g)NodeBs may be a home (e / g)NodeB. Additionally, in a geographical area of the wireless communication system, multiple different kinds of radio cells as well as multiple radio cells may be provided. The radio cells may be macro cells (or umbrella cells), which are large cells (typically having a diameter of up to tens of kilometers) or smaller cells (such as micro, femto or pico cells). Figure 1 The (e / g)NodeB can provide any type of these cells. The cellular radio system can be implemented as a multi-layer network including several types of cells. Usually, in a multi-layer network, one access node provides one or more cells of one type, so multiple (e / g)NodeBs are needed to provide such a network structure.

[0030] In order to meet the needs of improving the deployment and performance of communication systems, the concept of "plug and play" (e / g) NodeB has been introduced. Generally, a network that can use "plug and play" (e / g) NodeB includes a home (e / g) NodeB gateway or HNB-GW (not in Figure 1 ). The HNB gateway (HNB-GW), which is usually installed in the operator's network, can aggregate traffic from a large number of HNBs back to the core network.

[0031] The goal of the 6G architecture is to enable easy integration of everything such as networks of networks, joint communications and sensing, non-terrestrial networks and terrestrial communications. 6G systems are envisioned to include machine learning algorithms as well as local and distributed computing capabilities, where virtual network functions can be distributed across core and edge computing resources. For example, in a "zero latency" scenario, remote computing where computing resources are pushed to the very edge of the network will be part of a distributed computing environment. 5G systems may also adopt this capability. More generally, actual (radio) communication systems are envisioned to be included in one or more computer programs that are executed within a programmable infrastructure such as a general-purpose computing entity (server, processor, etc.).

[0032] The embodiments discussed below specifically relate to multi-radio access technology (RAT) dual connectivity (MR-DC). Figure 1For simplicity, only a single access node 104 is shown, but the communication system associated with the embodiment may include multiple access nodes. That is, a given terminal device 100, 102 with MR-DC capability can be served (i.e., communicatively connected to) by two different types of random access network (RAN) nodes: a primary (RAN) node (MN) that provides a control plane connection to the core network 110 and a secondary (RAN) node (SN) that provides additional resources for the terminal device 100, 102. The MN can be, for example, a primary ng-eNB. The SN can be, for example, a secondary ng-eNB. The MN is associated with a primary cell group (PCG) including a primary cell (PCell) and optionally one or more secondary cells (SCells), while the SN is associated with a secondary cell group (SCG), which includes a primary secondary cell (PSCell) as a primary cell under the SCG and optionally one or more secondary cells (SCells).

[0033] There are two different mechanisms for conditional reconfiguration in MR-DC: conditional handover (CHO) for conditional reconfiguration of the primary cell (PCell), and conditional primary and secondary cell addition / change (CPAC) for conditional reconfiguration of the PSCell. In order to perform CHO+CPAC switching, the terminal device can be configured with multiple CHO+CPAC configurations. Each CHO-CPAC configuration can define a unique combination of PCell and PSCell. In order to perform CHO-CAPC switching, the CHO and CPAC execution conditions are evaluated in parallel based on the radio measurements of the PCell and PSCell configured by CHO+CPAC. In order to switch for both PCell and PSCell, the (execution) conditions of CHO and CPAC need to be met by the terminal device. In some cases, it may happen that the CPAC execution condition becomes satisfied, while the CHO execution condition is still not satisfied. In this case, the terminal device continues to evaluate the execution conditions of both CHO and CPAC until the CHO execution condition is also satisfied. In other words, even if the CHO execution condition for the PCell is satisfied, the terminal device will continue the measurements of other PSCells and the evaluation of the CPAC execution conditions of these other PSCells. Therefore, the terminal device performs unnecessary measurements and CAPC execution condition evaluations, which results in throughput loss in the case of inter-frequency measurements, and excessive power consumption due to the measurements and terminal device processing regarding the CPAC execution condition evaluations (intra-frequency and inter-frequency).

[0034] Figure 2 The RAN4 delay requirements of the terminal device for the CHO+CPAC solution are shown, which further illustrates the above-mentioned problem. Figure 2 The upper part of the diagram shows the terminal device radio measurements (T) over time after reception of a radio resource control (RRC) command.measure PCell ) and subsequent CHO evaluation of PCell-1, while Figure 2 The lower part of the diagram shows the terminal device radio measurements (T measure_PSCell ) and subsequent CPAC evaluation of PSCell-1. When the CPAC execution condition is met, the terminal device will waiting_PSCell During this period, all other PCell and PSCell measurements are continued, and CHO+CPAC configuration is performed only when the CHO condition is also met (in time slot T CHO_execution 、T interrupt_PCell 、T CPAC_execution and T interrupt_PSCell After the CHO+CPAC switching is completed, the terminal device initiates communication through the physical random access channel (PRACH).

[0035] exist Figure 2 In, T Event_DU_PCell It can be defined as the delay uncertainty as follows: the delay uncertainty is the time from when the UE successfully decodes the conditional handover command with conditional PSCell addition / change until the conditions that will trigger the conditional handover exist at the measurement reference point. In addition, T Event_DU_PSCell It can be defined as the delay uncertainty that is the time from when the UE successfully decodes the conditional handover command with conditional PSCell addition / change until the conditions that will trigger the conditional PSCell addition / change exist at the measurement reference point.

[0036] The embodiments discussed below are intended to overcome or at least mitigate the problems described in the previous two paragraphs by providing a mechanism for stopping or at least relaxing CPAC related measurements when CPAC execution conditions have been met.

[0037] Figure 3 A process for performing CHO+CPAC switching according to an embodiment is shown. Figure 3 The processing shown may be performed by a terminal device or a portion thereof. The terminal device may be Figure 1 In the following, for simplicity, execution Figure 3 The entities of a process are called devices.

[0038] See also Figure 3, the apparatus initially performs radio measurements of one or more PCells and PSCells associated with the one or more PCells at box 301. The one or more PCells may be served by one or more (target) MNs, and the PSCells may be served by a (target) SN. The performance of the radio measurements in box 301 may include performing measurements of reference signals associated with the one or more PCells and transmitted by the one or more MNs, and performing measurements of reference signals associated with the PSCell and transmitted by the SN. The radio measurements for each of the one or more PCells and / or PSCells may be performed periodically or regularly.

[0039] One or more PCells on which radio measurements are performed in box 301 may be associated with one or more frequencies, that is, the one or more PCells may operate using the same frequency or using at least partially different frequencies. Similarly, the PSCell on which radio measurements are performed in box 301 may be associated with one or more frequencies, that is, the PSCell may operate using radio frequencies or using at least partially different frequencies. Typically, each PCell and each PSCell may be associated with a measurement object (measObj) that defines the attributes of the measurement (e.g., frequency, bandwidth, cell identity, and physical cell identity). The measurement object for the PSCell may be determined by the source MN of the terminal device regarding the CPAC execution conditions and the prepared PSCell. The (multiple) measurement objects for one or more PCells may also be determined by the source MN of the terminal device.

[0040] In block 302, the apparatus evaluates CHO execution conditions for one or more PCells and CPAC execution conditions for PSCells based on radio measurements. The evaluation may be performed continuously or periodically or regularly during the performance of the radio measurements. The CHO execution condition may be determined by a source MN of the terminal device. The CPAC execution condition may be determined by the one or more (target) MNs. The MN may indicate (multiple) execution conditions to the UE, for example in one or more configuration messages.

[0041] The CHO execution condition and / or the CPAC execution condition may correspond to, for example, any one of the measurement report triggering events A1 to A6 as defined in the technical specifications of 3GPP. For example, the execution condition may correspond to the entry condition of any one of the measurement report triggering events A1 to A6. In addition to the entry condition, the exit condition of the CHO execution and / or CPAC execution may be defined. For example, in the case of the A3 event, the entry condition may be defined as "the target cell is ndB or more stronger than the serving cell", and the exit condition may be defined as "the target cell is mdB or less weaker than the serving cell", where n and m are positive real numbers, where n>m (e.g., n=3 and m=2). By this definition, the hysteresis behavior is ensured, that is, once the entry condition is met, small defects in the measurement will not cause the trigger time (TTT) timer to be terminated.

[0042] In block 303, in response to the CPAC execution condition of the first PSCell being satisfied while the CHO execution condition of any PCell associated with the first PSCell is not satisfied, the apparatus relaxes or stops radio measurement of at least one PSCell in block 304. The radio measurement of at least one PSCell may be relaxed or stopped at any frequency, or at least at a frequency not used by the first PSCell.

[0043] In some alternative embodiments where radio measurements of multiple PCells are performed in box 301, in response to the CPAC execution condition of the first PSCell being satisfied in box 303 and the CHO execution condition of any PCell associated with the first PSCell being not satisfied, the device may relax or stop the radio measurements of at least one PCell in box 304 instead of or in addition to relaxing or stopping at least one PSCell. The at least one PCell may be a PCell not associated with the first PSCell. The radio measurements of at least one PCell may be relaxed or stopped at any frequency or at least at a frequency not used by the first PCell.

[0044] In response to the CPAC execution conditions of any first PSCell not being met in block 303 , the apparatus continues to perform radio measurements (block 301 ) and evaluate CHO and CPAC execution conditions (block 302 ).

[0045] It should be noted that in some embodiments, one or more additional criteria (in addition to the criteria of block 303) may need to be met before the device continues to move to block 304, as will be described in conjunction with other embodiments (see, e.g., Figure 5A , Figure 5B , Fig. 6A and Figure 6B ).

[0046] Here and in the following, relaxation of radio measurements may be defined as meaning relaxing (i.e., making less strict) the requirements associated with said radio measurements. For example, relaxed measurement requirements may be used for intra-frequency, NR inter-frequency, or RAT inter-frequency cells selected by PSCell and CPAC conditions. For example, relaxation may include increasing the period of radio measurements, i.e., performing radio measurements less frequently. Conversely, cessation of radio measurements means that no radio measurements are performed (at least on certain frequencies). Relaxation / cessation may not be limited to RRC idle state operation, but may be applied to RRC inactive and / or connected states.

[0047] In some embodiments, the relaxation / stopping of radio measurements may correspond to stopping the execution of layer 3 (L3) measurements, i.e., stopping frequent measurements of PSCells and stopping sampling them using layer 1 (L1) filters and layer 3 (L3) filters. However, the terminal device may still perform physical layer (PHY) measurements to see if the PSCell is detected or has been detected.

[0048] In some embodiments, at least one PSCell for which radio measurement is relaxed or stopped in block 304 includes all PSCells except the first PSCell. In some embodiments, at least one PSCell for which radio measurement is relaxed or stopped in block 304 may consist only of all PSCells except the first PSCell. That is, radio measurement of all other PSCells is relaxed, but radio measurement for the first PSCell is not relaxed or stopped.

[0049] In some embodiments, the at least one PSCell for which radio measurement is relaxed or stopped in block 304 includes at least one PSCell other than the first PSCell. In some embodiments, the at least one PSCell for which radio measurement is relaxed or stopped in block 304 may consist of only at least one PSCell other than the first PSCell. That is, at least the radio measurement of the first PSCell is not relaxed or stopped.

[0050] In some embodiments, the at least one PSCell for which radio measurements are relaxed or stopped in block 304 includes the first PSCell. In some embodiments, this may additionally include relaxing or stopping other PSCells other than the first PSCell.

[0051] In box 305, in response to the CPAC execution condition of the first PSCell and the CHO execution condition of the first PCell associated with the first PSCell being met, the device triggers PCell switching using the first PCell and PSCell addition / change using the first PSCell in box 306. In practice, the device may execute the CHO+CPAC configuration associated with the first PCell and the first PSCell stored in the memory of the device. This may include executing a first random access procedure for the target MN associated with the first PCell and optionally executing a second random access procedure for the target SN associated with the first PSCell. The radio measurements of box 301 and the evaluation of box 302 may also be stopped in box 306.

[0052] In box 305, in response to the CPAC execution conditions of the first PSCell and the CHO execution conditions of any PCell associated with the first PSCell being still not met, the device continues the execution of radio measurements (some of which are relaxed or stopped) and the evaluation of CHO&CPAC execution conditions.

[0053] In some embodiments, blocks 305 and 306 may be omitted.

[0054] In some embodiments, before box 301, the device may receive a message from the master node. For example, the message may be a reconfiguration message or more specifically an RRC reconfiguration message. The message includes at least one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations for the device. Each of the one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations may define one or more predefined rules for stopping or relaxing radio measurements of at least one PSCell (and / or at least one PCell). The device may perform relaxation or stopping of radio measurements of at least one PSCell (and / or at least one PCell) based on one of the one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations in box 304. The message may also include one or more CHO+CPAC configurations for the terminal device. One or more CHO+CPAC configurations may be used to execute any one of boxes 301, 302, 303, 305, and 306. The configuration of the device is combined with Fig.13 are discussed in more detail.

[0055] Figure 4A Another process for performing CHO+CPAC switching according to an embodiment is shown. Figure 4A The processing shown in can be performed by a terminal device or a part thereof. The terminal device can be Figure 1 In the following, for simplicity, execution Figure 4AThe processing entity is called a device.

[0056] Figure 4A The initial steps 401 to 404 of the process may correspond exactly to Figure 3 Steps 301 to 304 of the process are therefore not repeated here for the sake of brevity.

[0057] exist Figure 4A In block 403, in response to the CPAC execution condition of the first PSCell being satisfied, and the CHO execution condition of any PCell associated with the first PSCell not being satisfied, the apparatus not only relaxes or stops at least one PSCell in block 404 (similar to Figure 3 ) and in box 405 stops the evaluation of CPAC execution conditions for the PSCells (or at least some of them, such as at least one PSC whose radio measurements are relaxed or stopped).

[0058] In some embodiments, the device may stop evaluating the CPAC execution conditions for the PSCell in box 405 while still maintaining any detected PSCell. In other words, the device may stop performing layer 3 (L3) measurements, that is, stop frequent measurements of PSCells and stop sampling them using layer 1 (L1) filters and L3 filters. However, the terminal device may still perform physical layer (PHY) measurements to see if the PSCell is detected or has been detected. Here, PSCell detection can be relaxed, that is, the device is still able to detect the PSCell, but the associated cell detection period (parameter Tdetect) can be increased.

[0059] In addition, Figure 4A During the process, in box 403, the device may also choose to relax the radio measurements of some PCells in response to the CPAC execution condition of the first PSCell being met, while the CHO execution condition of any PCell associated with the first PSCell is not met. That is, the device identifies at least one PCell associated with the first PSCell (or all PCells associated with the first PSCell) in box 406. Then, at box 407, the device relaxes (or stops) the radio measurements of all PCells except at least one PCell associated with the first PSCell. The relaxation in box 407 may involve all frequencies or at least any frequency not used by the at least one PCell, or involve radio measurements of all PCells except at least one PCell associated with the first PSCell at frequencies not used by the at least one PCell.

[0060] The apparatus also stops evaluating the CHO execution condition for any PCell for which the radio measurement was relaxed in block 407 in block 408. In some embodiments, the apparatus may stop evaluating the CHO execution condition in block 408 while still maintaining the detected one or more PCells. In other words, the apparatus may stop performing layer 3 (L3) measurements, i.e., stop frequent measurements of the PCells, stop sampling them using layer 1 (L1) filters and L3 filters. However, the terminal device may still perform physical layer (PHY) measurements to see if the PCell is detected.

[0061] Figure 4A The remaining actions related to blocks 409 and 410 completely correspond to the actions described above in conjunction with blocks 305 and 306, and therefore, are not repeated here for the sake of brevity.

[0062] In some embodiments, Figure 4A One, two or three of the blocks 405, 406 to 408, and 408 may be omitted. In other words, the functions described in conjunction with any one of the blocks 405, 406 to 407, and 408 may be considered optional.

[0063] Figure 4B Show execution Figure 4A An example of the process. Figure 4B Specifically, it relates to an exemplary case in which radio measurements are initially performed for two PCells (PCell-1 and PCell-2) and eight different PSCells (PSCell-1 to PSCell-8). Figure 4B In FIG. 1 , each vertical bar shows the radio measurement of each prepared cell (for both PCell and PSCell) according to time from left to right. When the vertical bar ends, it means that the device (eg, terminal equipment) performs measurement stop / relaxation for the associated PCell or PSCell. Figure 4B In , it is assumed that the initial radio measurement is performed for all PCell-1 and PCell-2 and PSCell-1 to PSCell-8. Figure 4B In the example of , once it is determined that PSCell-1 associated with PCell-1 satisfies the CPAC execution condition, the radio measurement of PCell-2 is relaxed or stopped. In this case, the evaluation of the CHO condition of PCell-2 ( Figure 4B Additionally, the radio measurements of one or more of PSCell-1 to PSCell-8 may be relaxed or stopped here according to the process described in combination with different embodiments. In other words, the PSCell measurement relaxation / stopping scheme according to different embodiments may be combined with Figure 4BThe evaluation of the CPAC conditions of some of PSCell-1 to PSCell-8 is also optionally stopped ( Figure 4B not shown).

[0064] Figure 5A Another process for performing CHO+CPAC switching according to an embodiment is shown. Figure 5A The process shown may be performed by a terminal device or a portion thereof. The terminal device may be Figure 1 In the following, for simplicity, execution Figure 5A The processing entity is called a device.

[0065] Figure 5A The process corresponds largely to Figure 3 That is, blocks 501 to 503 and blocks 506 to 508 of FIG. 5 may completely correspond to Figure 3 Thus, for the sake of brevity, actions related to blocks 501 to 503, blocks 506 to 508 are not discussed below.

[0066] and Figure 3 Compared with the process Figure 5A Auxiliary criteria for triggering the relaxation / cessation of radio measurements of at least one PSCell are introduced. Figure 3 , the device checks in box 503 whether the CPAC execution condition of the first PSCell is met when the CHO execution condition of any PCell associated with the first PSCell is not met. If met, then in box 504, the device determines whether a PSCell threshold of a predefined signal strength or signal quality metric for the first PSCell is exceeded based on the radio measurement of the first PSCell. The signal strength or signal quality metric can be, for example, a reference signal received power (RSRP) or a reference signal received quality (RSRQ). In order to perform the determination in box 504, the device can wait until a certain number of new radio measurements of the first PSCell are available, and perform the determination based on at least these new radio measurements. In box 505, the device continues to perform relaxation or stopping of radio measurements of at least one PSCell in box 506 only when the predefined PSCell threshold is exceeded. As described above, the relaxation or stopping can be as discussed above (for example, in combination with Figure 3 Box 304) is executed.

[0067] In response to either condition defined in block 503 or block 505 not being met, the apparatus continues the performance of radio measurements (block 501 ) and the evaluation of CHO and CPAC performance conditions (block 502 ).

[0068] In some embodiments, the features discussed in conjunction with blocks 504 and 505 may be used with Figure 4A 's process (and / or any other process according to the embodiments to be discussed below).

[0069] Figure 5B Show execution Figure 5A An example of the process. Figure 5B Specifically, it concerns an exemplary case in which radio measurements are initially performed for a single PCell and eight different PSCells. Figure 5B In FIG. 1 , each vertical bar shows the radio measurement of each prepared cell (for both PCell and PS cell) according to time from left to right. When the vertical bar ends, it means that the device (eg, terminal equipment) performs measurement stop / relaxation for the associated PCell or PSCell. Figure 5B In , it is assumed that the initial radio measurements are performed on all PCells and PSCell-1 to PSCell-8. Figure 5B In the example, once it is determined that PSCell-1 satisfies the CPAC execution condition and then it is determined that the radio measurement of PSCell-1 exceeds a predefined threshold, the radio measurement of PSCell-2 to PSCell-8 is relaxed or stopped.

[0070] Fig. 6A Another process for performing CHO+CPAC switching according to an embodiment is shown. Fig. 6A The process shown in the figure may be performed by a terminal device or a part thereof. The terminal device may be Figure 1 In the following, for simplicity, execution Fig. 6A The entities of a process are called devices.

[0071] Fig. 6A The process corresponds largely to Figure 3 That is, blocks 601 to 603 and blocks 607 to 608 of FIG. 6 may completely correspond to Figure 3 301 to 303, 305 to 306. Thus, for the sake of brevity, actions related to blocks 601 to 603, 607 to 508 are not discussed below.

[0072] and Figure 3 Compared with the process Fig. 6AIntroducing auxiliary criteria for triggering relaxation / cessation of radio measurements of at least one PSCell, with Figure 5A However, in Figure 5A In the case of , the auxiliary condition relates to the signal strength / quality associated with the first PSCell that meets the CPAC execution condition, where the auxiliary condition relates to the signal strength / quality associated with the first PCell associated with the first PSCell. Figure 3 , the device checks in box 503 whether the CPAC execution condition of the first PSCell is met when the CHO execution condition of any PCell associated with the first PSCell is not met. If the result is true, then in box 604, the device determines whether a PCell threshold of a predefined signal strength or signal quality metric of the first PCell associated with the first PSCell is exceeded based on the radio measurement of the first PCell. The signal strength or signal quality metric can be, for example, a reference signal received power (RSRP) or a reference signal received quality (RSRQ). In order to perform the determination in box 604, the device can wait until a certain number of new radio measurements for the first PCell are available, and perform the determination based on at least the new radio measurements. In box 605, only when the predefined PCell threshold is exceeded, the device performs relaxation or stopping of radio measurements of at least one PSCell in box 606. Here, the relaxation or stopping of radio measurements in box 606 can be specifically for at least any PSCell that is not associated with the first PCell (i.e., it is associated with another PCell).

[0073] In response to either condition defined in block 603 or block 605 not being met, the apparatus continues the performance of radio measurements (block 601 ) and the evaluation of CHO and CPAC performance conditions (block 602 ).

[0074] In some embodiments, the features discussed in conjunction with blocks 604 and 605 may be used in conjunction with Figure 4A and / or Figure 5A 's process (and / or any other process according to the embodiments to be discussed below).

[0075] Figure 6B Show implementation Fig. 6A An example of the process. Figure 6B Specifically, it relates to an exemplary case in which radio measurements are initially performed for two PCells (PCell-1 and PCell-2) and eight different PSCells (PSCell-1 to PSCell-1). PSCell-1 to PSCell-4 are associated with PCell-1, while PSCell-5 to PSCell-8 are associated with PCell-2. Figure 6B In FIG. 1 , each vertical bar shows the radio measurements of each prepared cell (for both PCell and PSCell) according to time from left to right. When the vertical bar ends, it means that the device (eg, terminal equipment) performs measurement stop / relaxation for the associated PCell or PSCell. Figure 6B In , it is assumed that radio measurements are initially performed on all PCell-2 and PCell-2 and PSCell-1 to PSCell-8. Figure 6B In the example, once it is determined that PSCell-1 satisfies the CPAC execution conditions, and subsequently it is determined that the radio measurement of PCell-1 exceeds a predefined PCell threshold (here specifically the RSRP threshold), the radio measurements of PSCell-5 to PSCell-8 associated with PCell-2 (i.e., not PCell-1) are relaxed or stopped.

[0076] Figure 7 Another process for performing CHO+CPAC switching according to an embodiment is illustrated. Figure 7 The process shown in can be performed by a terminal device or a part thereof. The terminal device can be Figure 1 In the following, for simplicity, execution Figure 7 The entities of a process are called devices.

[0077] Figure 7 The process corresponds largely to Figure 3 That is, Figure 7 Boxes 701 to 703, box 706, and box 707 may completely correspond to Figure 3 Frame 301 to frame 303, frame 305, frame 306. In other words, Figure 7 To further define Figure 3 The operations associated with block 304 of FIG. 10 (ie, relaxation / stopping of radio measurements of at least one PSCell). Therefore, Figure 7 The following discussion is primarily limited to discussing actions related to blocks 704 and 705 .

[0078] See also Figure 7In box 703, in response to the CPAC execution condition of the first PSCell being satisfied and the CHO execution condition of any PCell associated with the first PSCell being not satisfied, in box 704, the device first identifies at least one PSCell that fails to satisfy at least one of the one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement (i.e., for continuing the radio measurement without change, that is, for continuing the non-relaxed radio measurement), and then in box 705, relaxes or stops the radio measurement of at least one PSCell identified in box 704.

[0079] The one or more predefined criteria in box 705 can be defined in a variety of different ways. The one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement can, for example, be a definition that the PSCell in which the radio measurement can be allowed to continue must be a PSCell whose radio measurement results are particularly promising (for example, exceeding a predefined signal quality or strength threshold). To give another example, the one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement can be defined that continued radio measurement can be allowed only for the first PSCell that meets the CPAC execution condition. In some cases, the one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement can be defined that no PSCell measurement should be continued. Different possible definitions for the one or more predefined criteria will be combined Figures 8 to 12 are discussed in further detail.

[0080] The evaluation of the one or more predefined criteria in block 704 may be continued until both the CPAC and CHO execution conditions are satisfied in block 706. Thus, in some embodiments, the apparatus may initially relax or stop radio measurements for at least one PSCell that fails to satisfy at least one of the one or more predefined criteria, and subsequently relax or stop one or more additional PSCells that fail to satisfy at least one of the one or more predefined criteria at that subsequent time.

[0081] Figures 8 to 12 Different criteria are shown (as discussed in connection with block 505 of FIG. 5 ) according to which the radio measurements of the PSCell are continued in their current form or are stopped / relaxed. Figures 8 to 12 Specifically, the radio measurements are initially performed for a single PCell ( Fig.11 The exemplary case in which this is performed for two PCells) and eight different PSCells, but the features discussed are by no means limited to these numbers of PCells and PSCells. Figures 8 to 12 It is shown which of these PSCell specific radio measurements can be stopped / relaxed according to different criteria. Figures 8 to 12 In FIG. 1 , the vertical bars show the radio measurements of each prepared cell (for both PCell and PSCell) according to time from left to right. When the vertical bar ends, it means that the device (eg, terminal equipment) performs measurement stop / relaxation for the associated PCell or PSCell. Figures 8 to 12 In each of , it is assumed that initially all PCells ( Fig.11 Radio measurements are performed for PCell-1 and PCell-2) and PSCell-1 to PSCell-8.

[0082] Figure 8 An example of an embodiment is shown, in which one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement define that only for the first PSCell that satisfies the CPAC execution condition (e.g., in block 603), the radio measurement of the PSCell is allowed to continue unchanged. Therefore, the radio measurement of all PSCells except the first PSCell (in this example, PSCell-2 to PSCell-8) is stopped or relaxed by the device. The radio measurement of the PCell is also continued without change.

[0083] Fig. 9 An example of an embodiment is shown, in which one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement define that the radio measurement of the PSCell is allowed to continue unchanged only if the PSCell satisfies the following conditions: 1) the PSCell exceeds (or is equal to) a predefined threshold value that defines the minimum value of a measure of the signal strength or signal quality of the PSCell (measured at the terminal device), and 2) the PSCell satisfies at least one predefined entry criterion of the CPAC execution condition. In other words, if for a given PSCell, either of the two conditions is not met, the radio measurement of the PSCell is stopped or relaxed by the device. The measure of the signal strength or signal quality of the PSCell may be, for example, RSRP or RSRQ. At least one predefined entry criterion of the CPAC execution condition may be or include, for example, the following criterion: the trigger time (TTT) timer of the CPAC execution condition has started running.

[0084] In some embodiments, the predefined thresholds may be defined as frequency dependent. In other words, the one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement may include a plurality of predefined frequency-specific thresholds for a plurality of frequencies of the PSCell, the plurality of frequency-specific thresholds defining each minimum value of a measure of signal strength or signal quality of the PSCell.

[0085] exist Fig. 9In the example, the radio measurements for PSCell-5 to PSCell-8 are first relaxed or stopped after PSCell-1 satisfies the CPAC execution condition. That is, in particular, the radio measurements for PSCell-5 to PSCell-8 are relaxed or stopped because the radio measurements of these PSCells are lower than the predefined threshold value of the minimum value of the measure of the signal strength or signal quality of the PSCell, and / or because the predefined entry criteria of the CPAC execution condition are not met. The radio measurements of PSCell-1 to PSCell-4 are determined to be higher than (or equal to) the predefined threshold value of the minimum value of the measure of the signal strength or signal quality of the PSCell, and meet the predefined entry criteria of the CPAC execution condition. Therefore, these PSCells are not relaxed or stopped. Subsequently, since the radio measurements of PSCell-4 are lower than the predefined threshold value of the minimum value of the measure of the signal strength or signal quality of the PSCell at this moment, and / or because the predefined entry criteria of the CPAC execution condition are not met, the radio measurements of PSCell-4 are also relaxed or stopped. Fig. 9 It is also shown that the CPAC execution conditions are later also satisfied for PSCell-2 (whose measurements are not relaxed or stopped). In this example, CHO+CPAC reconfiguration can be carried out for PCell and either PSCell-1 or PSCell-2.

[0086] like Fig. 9 As indicated in , in certain embodiments, the predefined threshold may be defined for a relative metric that defines the signal strength or signal quality of a PSCell relative to the PSCell having the highest signal strength or signal quality.

[0087] In some embodiments, Fig. 9 Only one of the two conditions applied in may be included in one or more predefined criteria.

[0088] Fig.10 An example of an embodiment is shown, wherein one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement define that the radio measurement of a PSCell is allowed to continue unchanged only if it exceeds a predefined relative threshold for the PSCell, the predefined relative threshold defining a minimum value of a (relative) metric that quantifies the signal strength or signal quality of the PSCell relative to the signal strength or signal quality of the first PSCell. In other words, the device may evaluate here that for a given PSCell, Or equivalently P PSCell [dB]-P PSCell-1 [dB]>P relthr [dB] is true. Here, P PSCellis the signal strength or quality (eg, RSRP or RSRQ) of the PSCell under evaluation, P PSCell-1 is the signal strength or quality (eg, RSRP or RSRQ) of the first PSCell (ie, PSCell-1), and P relthr is the minimum value defined by a predefined relative threshold. The expression "[dB]" indicates that the value is given in decibels (or dBm). Thus, the device may relax or stop radio measurements for PSCells that are less likely to provide a stronger / higher quality radio connection than the first PSCell.

[0089] In some embodiments, the predefined relative threshold may be frequency dependent. In other words, one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement may include multiple predefined frequency-specific relative thresholds for multiple frequencies of the PSCell. Thus, each of the multiple predefined frequency-specific relative thresholds may define a frequency-specific minimum value of a relative metric that quantifies the signal strength or signal quality (e.g., RSRP or RSRQ) of a PSCell at a given frequency relative to the signal strength or signal quality of a first PSCell (at its operating frequency).

[0090] exist Fig.10 In the example, the radio measurements of PSCell-5 to PSCell-8 are first relaxed or stopped after PSCell-1 satisfies the CPAC execution condition because the RSRP or RSRQ of PSCell-1 is at least x dB greater than the RSRP or RSRQ of PSCell-5 to PSCell-8 (x is a predefined positive real number). Subsequently, since the RSRP or RSRQ of PSCell-1 is at least x dB greater than the RSRP or RSRQ of PSCell-4 at this moment, the radio measurements of PSCell-4 are also relaxed or stopped. Fig.10 It is also shown that the CPAC execution conditions of PSCell-2 are also met at a later time instance (its measurement is not relaxed or stopped). In this example, CHO+CPAC reconfiguration can be performed for either PSCell-1 or PSCell-2 and PCell.

[0091] Fig.11An example of an embodiment is shown, wherein one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement define that only for a PSCell associated with a first PCell (i.e., PCell-1), its radio measurement is allowed to continue unchanged, wherein the first PCell is assumed to be a PCell associated with a first PSCell that satisfies the CPAC execution condition. In other words, any PSCell that is not associated with the same PCell as the first PSCell will be relaxed or stopped. Obviously, this alternative approach only has an effect if the radio measurement is performed for multiple PCells as follows: each of the multiple PCells is associated with a different PSCell.

[0092] exist Fig.11 In the example of , PCell-1 is associated with PSCell-1 to PSCell-4, and PCell-2 is associated with PSCell-5 to PSCell-8. Fig.11 In the example of , the radio measurements of PSCell-5 to PSCell-8 associated with PCell-2 are relaxed or stopped after PSCell-1 satisfies the CPAC execution condition. Later, the CPAC execution condition of PSCell-2 is also met, although this does not lead to any further relaxation or stopping of radio measurements because both PSCell-1 and PSCell-2 are associated with the same PCell.

[0093] Fig.12 An example of an embodiment is shown, in which one or more predefined criteria for continuing the current radio measurement define that the radio measurement of the first PSCell (ie, PSCell-1) that meets the CPAC execution condition will be relaxed or stopped. Specifically, Fig.12 An example is shown in which once the CPAC execution condition of PCell-1 is satisfied, the radio measurement of PSCell-1 is relaxed. Subsequently, the apparatus (e.g., terminal device) may monitor whether PSCell-1 satisfies the CPAC departure condition. In response to the CPAC departure condition being satisfied, the apparatus continues to perform radio measurements of PSCell-1, such as Fig.12 If the CPAC execution condition is met again, the device may relax or stop the radio measurement of PSCell-1 again, such as Fig.12 shown.

[0094] Although Figures 8 to 12 Only the relaxation / cessation of radio measurements for at least one PSCell is discussed, combined with Figure 3 , Figure 4A , Figure 5A and / or Fig. 6AAny other stop / relax functions discussed may also be combined with these embodiments. Figures 8 to 12 The relaxation / stopping of CPAC can be applied at any frequency or only at frequencies other than the (operating) frequency of the first PSCell that meets the CPAC execution conditions.

[0095] In some embodiments, the apparatus may stop evaluating CHO and / or CPAC execution conditions to save processing power of the terminal device. This may be independent, and it may be combined with any of the measurement / stop relaxation processes discussed in conjunction with the above embodiments.

[0096] Fig.13 The signaling between a source MN (S-MN), a source SN (S-SN), a target SN (T-SN), a target MN (T-SN) and a terminal device (UE) according to an embodiment is shown, and the signaling is used to configure the UE to perform CHO+CPAC reconfiguration and measurement relaxation / stop of the terminal device. Fig.13 Features 1308 and 1311 indicated with dashed lines may be considered optional. That is, one or both of blocks 1308 and 1311 may be included in the process.

[0097] See also Fig.13 , the S-MN initially transmits a handover request for requesting handover of the UE to the T-MN in a message 1301. At block 1302, the T-MN receives the handover request.

[0098] The T-MN (based on the handover request) transmits an SN Add Request to the T-SN in message 1303. The SN Add Request may request to add one or more PSCells (e.g., PSCell-1 to PSCell-8) to the SCG of the T-SN. At block 1304, the T-SN receives the SN Add Request. At block 1304, the T-SN adds the requested PSCell(s) to its SCG. Subsequently, the T-SN transmits an SN Add Request Acknowledgement back to the T-MN in message 1305. The SN Add Request Acknowledgement is used to confirm that the addition was successfully performed. At block 1306, the T-MN receives the SN Add Request Acknowledgement.

[0099] In some embodiments, elements 1303 to 1306 may be omitted.

[0100] At block 1308, the T-MN determines one or more CHO+CPAC configurations for the terminal device. Each (or at least some) of the one or more CHO+CPAC configurations may include an MCG configuration for a PCell and an SCG configuration for a PSCell associated with the PCell. The one or more CHO+CPAC configurations may together involve one or more PCells, each of which is associated with one or more PSCells. To give an example (corresponding to Figure 4B and / or 6B), one or more CHO+CPAC configurations may include the following configurations: -PCell-1 MCG+PSCell-1 SCG configuration, -PCell-1 MCG+PSCell-2 SCG configuration, -PCell-1 MCG+PSCell-3 SCG configuration, -PCell-1 MCG+PSCell-4 SCG configuration, -PCell-2 MCG+PSCell-5 SCG configuration, -PCell-2 MCG+PSCell-6 SCG configuration, -PCell-2 MCG + PSCell-7 SCG configuration, and -PCell-2 MCG + PSCell-8 SCG configuration.

[0101] At least in some embodiments, at box 1308, the T-MN determines one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations of the UE. In other embodiments, the T-MN may only partially or incompletely determine one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations for the UE. The determination in box 1308 may be based on the UE type of the UE. Examples of UE types may include UEs with reduced capabilities and / or UEs with low battery conditions. Additionally or alternatively, the determination in box 1308 may be based on one or more previous mobility events, i.e., based on the mobility history between the source cell and the target cell. That is, the source cell may be able to observe whether the UE relaxation / stop causes any mobility problems. These observations can be used for the determination in box 1308. In some embodiments, additionally or alternatively, the determination may be based on one or more CHO+CPAC configurations defined for the UE.

[0102] Each (or at least some) of the one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations may define (different) measurement relaxation / stop schemes according to any of the above embodiments. Each (or at least some) of the one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations may define: in response to the CPAC execution condition of the first PSCell being met (and optionally one or more other conditions discussed as in combination with blocks 504 to 505 of FIG. 5 or blocks 604 to 605 of FIG. 5 being met), and the CHO execution condition of any PCell associated with the first PSCell is not met, the UE shall relax or stop the radio measurement of at least one PSCell and / or at least one PCell. Each (or at least some) of the one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations may define one or more predefined rules for relaxation / stop of at least one PSCell and / or at least one PCell. One or more predefined rules may define, for example: which of the relaxation or stop should be performed? Does the relaxation or stop involve at least one PSCell and / or at least one PCell? How should the said at least one PSCell and / or PCell be selected? Should the relaxation / stop be applied at all frequencies or only at some frequencies, etc. In some embodiments, one or more predefined rules may also define conditions for triggering the relaxation / stop (e.g., such as in combination with Figure 3 303 of FIG. 4 , any one of the frames 503 to 505 of FIG. 4 , Figure 3 As an example, the one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations may include one, two or three of the following three measurement / relaxation configurations: - Measurement relaxation / stop configuration 1: Measurement relaxation of all PSCell measurements except for PSCell measurements of PSCells that meet CPAC execution conditions, - Measurement relaxation / stop configuration 2: Measurement relaxation of measurements for only PSCells that meet the CPAC execution conditions, and - Measurement relaxation / stop configuration-3: Measurement relaxation of measurement of any PCell except the PCell associated with the PSCell satisfying the CPAC execution condition.

[0103] The T-MN transmits a handover request confirmation back to the S-MN in message 1309. The handover request confirmation may include the one or more CHO+CPAC configurations determined in block 1307. If one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations are determined in block 1308, the handover request confirmation may also include the one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations.

[0104] At block 1310, the S-MN receives a handover request confirmation.

[0105] At least in embodiments where the one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations are not determined or only partially determined in block 1308, the S-MN determines one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations for the UE in block 1311. The determination may be based on the one or more CHO+CPAC configurations of the UE received in block 1310. The one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations may be defined as described in conjunction with block 1308.

[0106] In some embodiments, at block 1308, the T-MN may determine one or more first measurement relaxation / stop configurations for the UE, while at block 1311, the S-MN determines one or more second measurement relaxation / stop configurations for the UE. An example of such an embodiment may be as follows: the T-MN determines measurement relaxation / stop configuration(s) associated with the PSCell (CPAC), while the S-MN determines measurement relaxation / stop configuration(s) associated with the PCell (CHO). This division would be sensible because the T-MN prepares the PSCell, while the S-MN prepares the PCell.

[0107] The S-MN transmits a reconfiguration message to the UE in message 1312. The reconfiguration message may be an RRC reconfiguration message. The reconfiguration message may define both the SN (RRC) reconfiguration and the MN (RRC) reconfiguration for the UE. The reconfiguration message includes one or more CHO+CPAC configurations determined in block 1307 and one or more relaxation / stop configurations determined in block 1308 and / or block 1311.

[0108] The UE receives the reconfiguration message in block 1313 , and reconfigures itself according to the reconfiguration message in step 1313 .

[0109] The UE transmits a reconfiguration complete message back to the S-MN in message 1314. In block 1315, the S-MN receives the reconfiguration message. In some embodiments, elements 1314, 1315 may be omitted.

[0110] In completion Fig.13 After the reconfiguration process of the UE, the UE may configure the measurement relaxation / stop configuration according to any one of the above embodiments (for example, Figure 3 , Figure 4A , Figure 4B , Figure 5A , Figure 5B , Fig. 6A , Figure 6B , Figures 7 to 13 ) to perform a CHO+CPAC switching process with measurement relaxation / stop function.

[0111] In some embodiments, one or more CHO+CPAC configurations and one or more measurement relaxation / stop configurations may be transmitted in separate messages. In one embodiment, the T-MN determines the measurement relaxation configurations for the UE and sends these configurations to the S-MN. Therefore, the S-MN forwards the configurations to the UE.
