[0023] Detailed Description
[0024] The titles of the following sections are intended to aid understanding of the disclosed subject matter and do not in any way limit the scope of the claimed subject matter. Therefore, one or more features of one section may be combined with one or more features of another section. In addition, the use of 5G terminology is for clarity of explanation, but the technology disclosed in this document is not limited to 5G technology, but can also be used in wireless systems implementing other protocols.
[0025] The present application discloses methods and apparatus related to reporting buffer size and related delay budget information in a wireless communication system.
[0026] In a wireless communication system such as an LTE, NR or 6G system, the core network may send the following delay budget to a radio network element (e.g., eNB, gNB):
[0027] • Packet Delay Budget (PDB): This indicates the upper limit of the time a packet can be delayed between the N6 termination point at the UE and the User Plane Function (UPF).
[0028] • Core Network Packet Delay Budget (CN PDB): This indicates the delay between any N6 termination point at the UPF and the radio network elements.
[0029] • PDU Set Delay Budget (PSDB): This indicates the upper limit of the time that a PDU set can be delayed between the N6 termination point at the UE and the User Plane Function (UPF).
[0030] Core Network PDU Set Delay Budget (CN PSDB): This indicates the PDU set delay between any N6 termination point at the UPF and the radio network element. In some cases, the CN PSDB may be replaced by a CN PDB (eg, with the same value).
[0031] Based on the PDB and CN PDB, the 5G access network packet delay budget (5G-AN PDB) can be determined: it indicates the upper limit of the time that a packet can be delayed between the UE and the radio network element, and is determined by subtracting the CN PDB from the PDB. Similarly, the 5G access network packet delay budget (5G-AN PSDB) can be determined by subtracting the CN PDDB from the PSDB.
[0032] For UL packet transmission, the following steps are generally used:
[0033] UE reports buffer size level to radio network element (e.g., reports the amount of UL packets in UE buffer via BSR MAC CE);
[0034] The radio network element allocates an UL grant to the UE based on the reported BSR and the AN PDB;
[0035] · The UE sends UL packets through the allocated UL grant.
[0036] Based on the conventional process, when the radio network element allocates UL grant to the UE, it cannot know how long the UL packet is buffered before sending the BSR and the remaining AN PDB can be used for transmission. If the radio network element allocates UL grant based on the AN PDB (e.g., without considering the duration of the UL packet being buffered in the UE), the UL packet transmission delay (e.g., the delay from the packet arriving at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP to the packet arriving at the radio network element) may exceed the AN PDB, and the UL transmission cannot meet the service demand.
[0037] Furthermore, based on the current specification, PDB and CN PDB are configured per QoS flow, but BSR is reported per logical channel group (LCG), and one LCG may include multiple logical channels. The mapping of QoS flows to logical channels is described in Figure 1 Shown in.
[0038] Therefore, even if the UE reports the remaining AN PDB per LCG, the radio network element cannot determine which logical channel the remaining AN PDB corresponds to. Also, the UE cannot know the PDB for the non-standardized 5QI case and cannot determine the remaining AN PDB.
[0039] In addition, when the UE receives a UL grant, and if there are multiple logical channels with data to be transmitted, the UE should prioritize the logical channels (Logical Channel Prioritization, LCP) and select one or more logical channels with data to be transmitted. Based on the current specification, only the PBR (Priority Bit Rate) and the elapsed time for data to be buffered in the UE are considered, and the remaining PDBs are not considered. Therefore, logical channels with smaller PDBs will not be prioritized for transmission, and the UL packet transmission delay (e.g., the delay from the packet arriving at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP to the packet arriving at the radio network element (e.g., radio network element PDCP)) may exceed the AN PDB and the UL transmission cannot meet the service requirements.
[0040] To overcome these and other problems, solutions have been proposed.
[0041] Example Introduction
[0042] This section discloses multiple examples related to UE information reporting and packet delay management technology in a wireless communication system. The details of the examples will be described in the following embodiments.
[0043] Example 1
[0044] This section discloses examples involving frame design involving timing information and BSR.
[0045] Based on the PDB and CN PDB, the 5G access network packet delay budget (5G-AN PDB) can be determined: it indicates the upper limit of the time that a packet can be delayed between the UE and the radio network element, and is determined by subtracting the CN PDB from the PDB. The radio network element can also determine a packet discard timer per DRB based on the AN PDB, or a PDU set discard timer per DRB based on the AN PSDB.
[0046] As described in the background section, the radio network element cannot know how long the UL packet is buffered on the UE side based on the conventional process. If the radio network element allocates UL grants based on the AN PDB (e.g., without considering the duration of the UL packet being buffered in the UE) or the packet discard timer, the UL packet transmission delay (e.g., the delay from the packet arriving at the UE PDCP to the packet arriving at the radio network element (e.g., the radio network element PDCP)) may exceed the AN PDB or the packet discard timer, and the UL transmission cannot meet the service requirements.
[0047] And, based on the current specification, PDB, CN PDB, PSDB and CN PSDB are configured per QoS flow, and packet discard timer is configured per DRB, but BSR is reported per logical channel group (LCG), and one LCG may include multiple logical channels, and multiple QoS flows and / or multiple DRBs may be mapped to one logical channel. Therefore, even if the UE reports the remaining AN PDB per LCG, reports the remaining AN PSDB per LCG, or the remaining packet discard time, the wireless network element cannot determine which logical channel the remaining AN PDB, the remaining AN PSDB per LCG, or the remaining packet discard time corresponds to. And the UE cannot know the PDB for the non-standardized 5QI case, and cannot determine the remaining AN PDB.
[0048] This embodiment proposes an example of solving the above-mentioned problems.
[0049] Figure 2 An example of reporting the cache size and related time information to the MAC CE is shown in FIG. Figure 2 Disclosed:
[0050] LCG ID, indicating a logical channel group identifier, which identifies the group of logical channels (one or more) for which the buffer status is being reported.
[0051] Buffer size: Identifies the amount of data available on all logical channels of the logical channel group after all MAC PDUs have been built for the TTI. The amount of data is indicated in bytes. It should include the data available for transmission in the PDCP layer and in the RLC layer corresponding to the time information; the buffer size level includes at least one of the following: the existing buffer size level, the existing buffer size level for finer granularity interpolation, the TB size value (one or more), and the multiple of the TB size value (one or more)
[0052] Time information: identifies the time when the buffer size is cached in the UE, which includes at least one of the following items: the elapsed time since the packet (one or more) arrived at the UE PDCP or the PDCP upper layer SAP; the remaining time before the elapsed time since the packet (one or more) arrived at the UE PDCP or the PDCP upper layer SAP reaches the (AN) packet delay budget; the remaining time before the packet discard timer expires; the arrival time of the packet (one or more) at the UE PDCP or the PDCP upper layer SAP; an immediate scheduling indication, indicating whether the packet (one or more) corresponding to the buffer size should be scheduled or sent immediately. Scheduling priority indication, indicating whether the packet (one or more) corresponding to the buffer size should be scheduled or sent with a higher priority, the elapsed time since the PDU set (one or more) arrived at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP; the remaining time before the PDU set (one or more) arrived at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP reaches the (AN) PDU set delay budget; the remaining time before the PDU set discard timer expires; the arrival time of the PDU set (one or more) at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP; immediate scheduling indication, indicating whether the PDU set (one or more) corresponding to the buffer size should be scheduled or sent immediately. Scheduling priority indication, indicating whether the PDU set (one or more) corresponding to the buffer size should be scheduled or sent with a higher priority.
[0053] When the (AN) packet delay budget is used to determine the time information, and one LCG corresponds to multiple (AN) packet delay budgets (for example, multiple QoS flows with different (AN) packet delay budgets are mapped to one LCG), the minimum value of the (AN) packet delay budgets of the QoS flows mapped to the LCG is used to calculate the time information of the LCG.
[0054] When the (AN)PDU set delay budget is used to determine time information, one LCG corresponds to multiple (AN)PDU set delay budgets (for example, multiple QoS flows with different (AN)PDU set delay budgets are mapped to one LCG), and the minimum value of the (AN)PDU set delay budgets of the QoS flows mapped to the LCG is used to calculate the time information of the LCG.
[0055] When a packet discard timer is used to determine time information, and one LCG corresponds to multiple packet discard timers (for example, multiple radio bearers are mapped to one LCG), the minimum value of the packet discard timers of the radio bearers mapped to the LCG is used to calculate the time information of the LCG.
[0056] When the PDU set discard timer is used to determine the time information, and one LCG corresponds to multiple PDU set discard timers (for example, multiple radio bearers are mapped to one LCG), the minimum value among the PDU set discard timers of the radio bearers mapped to the LCG is used to calculate the time information of the LCG.
[0057] When the elapsed time or the remaining time is reported, the reference timing should also be indicated taking into account the MAC CE transmission (retransmission) delay, for example, explicitly indicated by the reference SFN field or implicitly defined based on a predefined nearest SFN (e.g., SFN0), and the time information is calculated based on the SFN end boundary. The elapsed time or the remaining time can be a duration (e.g., indicated in units of milliseconds, microseconds, number of slots, number of subframes, etc.), a percentage of the (AN) packet delay budget, a percentage of the (AN) PDU set delay budget, a percentage of the packet discard timer.
[0058] When the arrival time is reported, it includes at least one of the following information: the value of the least significant (rightmost) 2 bits of the super SFN, the SFN (System Frame Number), the sub SFN, the timeslot number.
[0059] When an immediate scheduling indication or a scheduling priority indication is reported, it may be explicitly reported through an indication field in a MAC CE, or may be implicitly reported through a predefined logical channel ID in the MAC header (e.g., a specific logical channel ID is predefined for higher priority buffer size reporting).
[0060] In the case where multiple PDUs belong to a PDU set, the PDU remaining time, the PDU set elapsed time, and the PDU set delay budget are used to calculate the remaining time or elapsed time. Among them, the maximum elapsed time of the PDUs in the PDU set is used as the PDU set elapsed time, and the minimum remaining time of the PDUs in the PDU set is used as the PDU set remaining time. This rule is also used for all inventions (for example, when a PDU belongs to a PDU set, the PDU set time replaces the PDU time for time calculation).
[0061] The number of bits of each field in the MAC CE is only an example, which may be less or more. The number of octs is also only an example, and more octs may be used according to the MAC CE.
[0062] like Figure 2ADisclosed:
[0063] This field information is related to Figure 2 The same as MAC CE, except that the radio bearer identifier is included in the buffer size and related time information reporting MAC CE (e.g., the radio bearer identifier is used instead of the LCG ID), which can, for example, report the buffer size and related time information per radio bearer in a finer granularity.
[0064] When the (AN) packet delay budget is used to determine the time information, and one radio bearer corresponds to multiple (AN) packet delay budgets (for example, multiple QoS flows with different (AN) packet delay budgets are mapped to one radio bearer), the minimum value of the (AN) packet delay budgets of the QoS flows mapped to the radio bearer is used to calculate the time information of the radio bearer.
[0065] When the (AN)PDU set delay budget is used to determine the timing information, and one radio bearer corresponds to multiple (AN)PDU set delay budgets (for example, multiple QoS flows with different (AN)PDU set delay budgets are mapped to one radio bearer), the minimum value of the (AN)PDU set delay budgets of the QoS flows mapped to the radio bearer is used to calculate the timing information of the radio bearer.
[0066] like Figure 2B Disclosed:
[0067] This field information is related to Figure 2 The same, except that the logical channel identifier is included in the buffer size and related time information reporting MAC CE (replaced by the logical channel identifier LCG ID), which can report the buffer size and related time information by logical channel, for example, using more bits of MAC CE and reporting the buffer size and related time information with finer granularity.
[0068] When the (AN) packet delay budget is used to determine the time information, and one logical channel corresponds to multiple (AN) packet delay budgets (for example, multiple QoS flows with different (AN) packet delay budgets are mapped to one logical channel), the minimum value of the (AN) packet delay budgets of the QoS flows mapped to the logical channel is used to calculate the time information of the logical channel.
[0069] When the (AN)PDU set delay budget is used to determine the timing information, and one logical channel corresponds to multiple (AN)PDU set delay budgets (for example, multiple QoS flows with different (AN)PDU set delay budgets are mapped to one logical channel), the minimum value of the (AN)PDU set delay budgets of the QoS flows mapped to the logical channel is used to calculate the timing information of the logical channel.
[0070] When a packet discard timer is used to determine time information and one logical channel corresponds to multiple packet discard timers (for example, multiple radio bearers are mapped to one logical channel), the minimum value of the packet discard timers of the radio bearers mapped to the logical channel is used to calculate the time information of the logical channel.
[0071] When a PDU set discard timer is used to determine the time information and one logical channel corresponds to multiple PDU set discard timers (for example, multiple radio bearers are mapped to one logical channel), the minimum value of the PDU set discard timer of the radio bearers mapped to the logical channel is used to calculate the time information of the logical channel.
[0072] Example 2
[0073] This section discloses an example involving the following: when the UE receives a UL grant and there are multiple logical channels with data to be transmitted, how the UE should prioritize logical channels (Logical Channel Prioritization, LCP) and select one or more logical channels with data to be transmitted.
[0074] For LCP enhancement, multiple examples are disclosed that consider PDBs or discard timers with relative priorities.
[0075] This embodiment is related to the previous embodiment.
[0076] Whenever a new transmission is performed, the Logical Channel Prioritization (LCP) procedure is applied.
[0077] RRC controls the scheduling of uplink data by sending signals for each logical channel per MAC entity:
[0078] -priority, where increasing priority values indicate lower priority levels;
[0079] -priorityizedBitRate, which sets the prioritized bit rate (PBR);
[0080] -bucketSizeDuration, which sets the bucket size duration (BSD).
[0081] The following UE variables are used in the logical channel prioritization procedure:
[0082] - Bj, which is maintained for each logical channel j.
[0083] When a logical channel is established, the MAC entity shall initialize Bj of the logical channel to zero.
[0084] For each logical channel j, the MAC entity shall:
[0085] 1> Before each instance of the LCP process, Bj is increased by the product of PBR×T×1 / residualT, where T is the elapsed time since Bj was last increased; residual T is the remaining time before the elapsed time since the arrival of packet(s) at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP reaches the (AN) packet delay budget, the remaining time since the arrival of PDU set(s) at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP reaches the (AN) PDU set delay budget, the remaining time before the packet discard timer expires, or the remaining time before the PDU set discard timer expires.
[0086] 1> If the value of Bj is greater than the bucket size (ie PBR×BSD):
[0087] 2> Set Bj to the bucket size.
[0088] When performing a new transmission, the MAC entity shall:
[0089] 1> Allocate resources to logical channels as follows:
[0090] 2> The logical channels selected for the UL grant with Bj>0 in clause 5.4.3.1.2 are allocated resources in descending order of priority. If the PBR of a logical channel is set to infinity, the MAC entity shall allocate resources for all data available for transmission on the logical channel before the PBR of the lower priority logical channel(s) is met;
[0091] 2> Subtract the total size of the MAC SDU provided to the above logical channel j from Bj.
[0092] Example 3
[0093] This section discloses an example involving the following: when the UE receives a UL grant and there are multiple logical channels with data to be transmitted, how the UE should prioritize logical channels (Logical Channel Prioritization, LCP) and select one or more logical channels with data to be transmitted.
[0094] Specifically, multiple examples are disclosed regarding an absolute priority scheme for PDB or discard timers for LCP enhancement.
[0095] This embodiment is related to the previous embodiment.
[0096] Whenever a new transmission is performed, the Logical Channel Prioritization (LCP) procedure is applied.
[0097] RRC controls the scheduling of uplink data by sending signals for each logical channel per MAC entity:
[0098] -priority, where increasing priority values indicate lower priority levels;
[0099] -priorityizedBitRate, which sets the prioritized bit rate (PBR);
[0100] -bucketSizeDuration, which sets the bucket size duration (BSD);
[0101] -lcpTimeThreshold, which sets the time threshold for LCP decisions.
[0102] When the remaining T is less than or equal to lcpTimeThreshold, the MAC selects the logical channel with the highest priority, where the remaining T is the remaining time since the packet(s) arrived at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP before reaching the (AN) packet delay budget, or the remaining time before the PDCP discard timer expires, or the PDU set remaining time.
[0103] The following UE variables are used in the logical channel prioritization procedure:
[0104] - Bj, which is maintained for each logical channel.
[0105] When a logical channel is established, the MAC entity shall initialize Bj of the logical channel to zero.
[0106] For each logical channel j, the MAC entity shall:
[0107] 1> Before each instance of the LCP process, increase Bj by the product of PBR×T, where T is the elapsed time since Bj was last increased;
[0108] 1> If the value of Bj is greater than the bucket size (ie PBR×BSD):
[0109] 2> Set Bj to the bucket size.
[0110] When performing a new transmission, the MAC entity shall:
[0111] 1> Allocate resources to logical channels as follows:
[0112] 2> The logical channels selected for the UL grant with Bj>0 in clause 5.4.3.1.2 are allocated resources in descending priority order.
[0113] If the remaining T is equal to or less than lcpTimeThreshold, the MAC entity shall first allocate resources for data with a remaining T less than or equal to lcpTimeThreshold for transmission on the logical channel.
[0114] If a specific PDU is transmitted successfully, the MAC entity should first allocate resources for the data in the PDU set with the successfully transmitted specific PDU (one or more) for transmission on the logical channel; if the PDU set is transmitted successfully, the MAC entity should first allocate resources for the PDU set that depends on the successfully transmitted PDU set for transmission on the logical channel.
[0115] If the PBR of a logical channel is set to infinity, the MAC entity shall allocate resources for all data available for transmission on the logical channel before satisfying the PBR of lower priority logical channels (one or more);
[0116] 2> Subtract the total size of the MAC SDU provided to the above logical channel j from Bj; Example 4
[0117] This section discloses examples involving transmission procedures for PDB, PSDB, or LCP time threshold delivery.
[0118] This embodiment is related to the previous embodiment.
[0119] Figure 3 Examples of (AN) packet delay budgets and / or PDU set delay budgets transmitted from the core network to the UE are shown.
[0120] like Figure 3 As shown, the packet delay budget, AN packet delay budget, PDU set delay budget (PSDB) and / or AN PDU set delay budget are sent by the NAS from the core network to the UE so that the UE can evaluate the remaining time (e.g., the time elapsed since the packet (one or more) arrived at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP) before reaching the (AN) packet delay budget. Figure 2 , Figure 2-1 and Figure 2-2 As shown) or logical channel prioritization is performed based on the packet delay budget in Examples 2 and 3.
[0121] The packet delay budget or AN packet delay budget is a PDU set delay budget or an AN PDU set delay budget.
[0122] like Figure 3A As shown, the packet delay budget per RB or per DRB, the AN packet delay budget, the PDU set delay budget (PSDB) and / or the AN PDU set delay budget are sent from the gNB to the UE via RRC signaling, for example, the packet delay budget or the AN packet delay budget is included in the RadioBearerConfig IE, the SDAP-Config IE or the DRB-ToAddMod IE.
[0123] It is used by the UE to estimate the remaining time (e.g., time remaining before the (AN) packet delay budget is reached) since the time the packet(s) arrive at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP. Figure 2 , Figure 2-1 and Figure 2-2 As shown) or logical channel prioritization is performed based on the packet delay budget in Examples 2 and 3.
[0124] like Figure 3B As shown, the packet delay budget per logical channel, AN packet delay budget, PDU set delay budget (PSDB) and / or AN PDU set delay budget are sent from the gNB to the UE via RRC signaling, for example, the packet delay budget or AN packet delay budget is included in the LogicalChannelConfig IE. These can be used by the UE to estimate the remaining time before the (AN) packet delay budget is reached (e.g., the elapsed time since the arrival of the packet(s) at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP) reaches the elapsed time since the arrival of the packet(s) at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP) (e.g., the elapsed time since the arrival of the packet(s) at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP) (e.g., the elapsed time since the arrival of the packet(s) at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP) (e.g., the elapsed time since the arrival of the packet(s) at the UE PDCP or PDCP upper layer SAP) reaches the remaining time before the (AN) packet delay budget is reached ... Figure 2 , Figure 2A and Figure 2B As shown) or logical channel prioritization is performed based on the packet delay budget in Examples 2 and 3.
[0125] like Figure 3C As shown, the time threshold (lcpTimeThreshold) for logical channel prioritization is sent from the gNB to the UE via RRC signaling, for example, the time threshold (lcpTimeThreshold) for logical channel prioritization is included in the LogicalChannelConfig IE. These can be used by the UE to determine the logical channel priority during the LCP process in Example 3.
[0126] Example 5
[0127] This section discloses examples related to examples related to determining channel transmission priorities based on received information.
[0128] This embodiment is related to the previous embodiment.
[0129] In this embodiment, the logicalChannelID, LCG ID or DRB ID is included in the PDCCH DCI for the UL grant to explicitly indicate that the UL grant is used in the indicated logicalChannelID, LCG ID or DRB ID with the highest priority.
[0130] For example, if the logicalChannelID is included in the PDCCH DCI including the UL authorization, the MAC entity of the UE should first allocate resources for the packets or PDU sets for transmission on the logical channel with the logicalChannelID included in the DCI; if the LCG ID is included in the PDCCH DCI including the UL authorization, the MAC entity of the UE should first allocate resources for the packets or PDU sets for transmission on the logical channel (one or more) included in the LCG with the LCG ID included in the DCI; if the DRB ID is included in the PDCCH DCI including the UL authorization, the MAC entity of the UE should first allocate resources for the packets or PDU sets for transmission on the logical channel (one or more) corresponding to the DRB with the DRB ID included in the DCI.
[0131] Example 6
[0132] This section discloses examples of methods involving UE capability reporting.
[0133] In the rel-17 NB-IoT, eMTC and NR specifications, NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) is supported, therefore, the UE can support both TN and NTN, for example, the UE can access a TN cell or access an NTN cell, but the wireless capabilities may be different, for example, the UE supports some features in TN but not in NTN.
[0134] Generally, the UE reports its own radio capabilities in the TN; in order to distinguish the radio capabilities of the UE between the TN and the NTN, a possible way is that the UE reports its own TN radio capabilities and NTN radio capabilities at the same time.
[0135] Considering that although some feature capabilities of the same UE on TN and NTN are different, most of the feature capabilities of the same UE in TN and NTN are the same. Therefore, if the UE reports its entire TN radio capabilities and the entire NTN radio capabilities at the same time, the load of the UE radio capability report will be very large, and the common feature capability information (such as supported in both TN and NTN, or not supported in both NTN and TN) is redundant.
[0136] Normally, the UE reports its entire TN radio capabilities. An optimized way to report its TN and NTN capabilities is:
[0137] If the feature is applied to both TN and NTN, and if the NTN wireless capability IE does not include a wireless capability field for NTN, the same field for TN's wireless capability in the TN wireless capability IE is also applied to NTN (for example, for features that the UE supports in both TN and NTN, or does not support in both NTN and TN, the UE can implicitly report its NTN wireless capability with its TN wireless capability IE. That is, for features applicable to both TN and NTN: if the NTN wireless capability IE does not include a feature capability field, the TN feature wireless capability in the TN wireless capability IE is applied to both TN and NTN; if the NTN wireless capability IE includes a feature capability field, the feature capability field in the NTN wireless capability IE only indicates its NTN wireless capability; for features applicable only to TN or NTN, the feature capability field in the NTN wireless capability IE only indicates its NTN wireless capability, and the TN feature wireless capability in the TN wireless capability IE only indicates its NTN wireless capability). By this method, the load of UE wireless capability reporting can be reduced. [0165] It should be understood that the present document discloses methods and apparatus related to reporting buffer size and related delay budget information in a wireless communication system. In a wireless communication system (e.g., LTE, NR or 6G system), the core network may send multiple delay budgets to a wireless network element (e.g., eNB, gNB). The delay budget may include: packet delay budget (PDB), core network packet delay budget (CN PDB), PDU set delay budget (PSDB) and core network PDU set delay budget (CN PSDB). Based on the PDB and CN PDB, the 5G access network packet delay budget (5G-AN PDB) may be determined. Similarly, the 5G access network packet delay budget (5G-AN PSDB) may be determined by subtracting the CNPDDB from the PSDB. Under the existing system, when the wireless network element allocates UL authorization to the UE, the wireless network element cannot know how long the UL packet is buffered before sending the BSR, and the remaining ANPDB can be used for transmission, which may cause unnecessary delays and inefficient communications. In addition, based on the current specification, PDB and CN PDB are configured per QoS flow, but BSR is reported per logical channel group (LCG), and one LCG may include multiple logical channels. Therefore, even if the UE reports the remaining AN PDB per LCG, the radio network element cannot determine which logical channel the remaining AN PDB corresponds to. And for non-standardized 5QI cases, the UE cannot know the PDB and cannot determine the remaining AN PDB.
[0166] In addition, when receiving the UL grant, the UE should prioritize the logical channels (Logical Channel Prioritization, LCP) and select one or more logical channels with data to be transmitted. Based on the current specification, only the PBR (Priority Bit Rate) and the elapsed time of data being buffered in the UE are considered, and the remaining PDB is not considered, which may cause delays and inefficiencies in the communication process. The present application proposes a variety of methods to overcome the above problems.
