Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] Embodiments described herein relate to the treatment of dysmenorrhea, and more particularly to a dysmenorrhea relief device. Background Art
[0002] At least 50% of people who experience menstruation (menorrs) suffer from dysmenorrhea, or painful menstruation. Menorrs most often self-treat dysmenorrhea pain with over-the-counter (OTC) medications such as acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). However, when OTC medications are insufficient to address the pain, some menorrs prefer nonpharmacological treatments or prefer not to rely on prescription-strength dosing of medications.
[0003] In some scientific studies, vibration therapy has been shown to help with pain relief by relaxing muscles and increasing circulation. However, conventional vibration therapy devices are usually applied to the skin or elsewhere outside the vaginal cavity. Some devices are disposable and cannot be reused. Therefore, they are not economical for consumers and are not environmentally friendly. Summary of the invention

[0140] Fig.26A A vibrator motor assembly 2300 and a connector assembly 2203 are shown according to a third embodiment. The vibrator motor end of the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 is shown without a tampon and has an axis (HH) along the length of the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 . Fig.26B A cross-sectional view of the vibrator motor end of the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 along the HH axis is shown. Fig.26C Shows Fig.26B26. A close-up cross-sectional view of section J of FIG. 26. A first end of the vibrator motor 2301 is located within the front motor cover 2302. The front motor cover 2302 serves as a protective cover for the motor assembly 2300. A second end of the vibrator motor 2301 engages a first end of a rear motor cover 2303. The second end of the rear motor cover 2303 includes a hole through which a first end of a connector 2304 passes. The first end of the connector 2304 is secured to the rear motor cover 2303 at an inner surface 2601 using a suitable solvent-based adhesive that serves as a strain relief joint to secure the rear motor cover 2303 to the connector 2304. At the second end of the rear motor cover 2303, the inner surface of the rear motor cover 2303 is configured with an inclined surface or chamfer 2602 to prevent disengagement between the connector 2304 and the rear motor cover 2303. The rear motor cover 2303 protects the physical and electrical connection between the first end of the wire 2305 and the second end of the vibrator motor 2301.
[0141] Fig.26D An orthogonal view of the second end of the rear motor cover 203 is shown. Fig.26C and Fig.26D , the second end of the rear motor cover 2303 includes a flange 2603. The flange 2603 acts as a stopper, wherein the insertion of the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 into the tampon 2201 stops when the flange 2603 contacts the bottom end of the tampon 2201. This ensures that the top end of the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 does not pierce the top end of the tampon 2201. The flange 2603 includes one or more notches 2604 for engaging the drawstring 2202 of the tampon 2201. This allows the free end of the drawstring 2202 to be used to remove the tampon 2201 if the vibrator motor assembly 2300 is detached from the tampon 2201, or if the connector 2304 is detached from the vibrator motor assembly 2300.
[0142] In some embodiments, the tampon 2201 is a custom tampon specifically designed to work with the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200. The custom tampon includes a pre-configured hole into which the motor assembly 2300 can be inserted. Alternatively, a solid tampon without a pre-configured hole can be used. When a solid tampon is to be used, the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 can be provided as a stand-alone unit. A drilling tool can be provided with the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 for forming a hole in the solid tampon into which the motor assembly 2300 will be inserted. Figures 27A-27C A drilling tool for use with the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 is shown. Fig.27A A solid tampon 2705 is shown without holes. Fig.27BA drilling tool 2701 is shown that is configured with a handle 2702, a drilling tip 2703 having a tapered end, and a flange 2704. The drilling tool 2701 is used to drill a hole 2706 in a solid tampon 2705, wherein the hole is slightly smaller than the diameter of the motor assembly 2300 so that the motor assembly 2300 fits snugly within the hole 2706. The flange 2704 of the drilling tool 2701 indicates the depth of the hole 2706 for accommodating the vibrator motor assembly 2300. When the flange 2704 contacts the bottom end of the solid tampon 2705, the insertion of the drilling tip 2703 into the solid tampon 2705 stops. This ensures that the drilling tip 2703 does not pierce the top of the end of the solid tampon 2705. As shown in FIG. Fig.27C As shown, once the hole 2706 is formed, the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 is inserted into the hole 2706.
[0143] In an alternative embodiment, a non-absorbent protective cover is used in place of a tampon with the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200. With the non-absorbent protective cover, the dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 can be used when there is no or minimal menstrual blood flow. The dysmenorrhea relief device 2200 with the non-absorbent protective cover can be inserted into the vagina using a suitable lubricant.
[0144] Fig.28 An example position of an embodiment of the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 in the vagina is shown with the user in a sitting position. In the sitting position, the shape of the vagina is curved, and the connector assembly 102, 1502, 2203 of the embodiment of the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 is curved to conform to the curved shape of the vagina without causing undue discomfort. Fig.29 Another example position of the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 in the vagina is shown with the user in a standing position. In this position, the vagina is relatively less curved. Fig.28 and 29 The diagram is provided for illustrative purposes only to illustrate the general shape of the vagina and the location of the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 and is not provided as an anatomically accurate representation. Fig.28 Move to the position in Fig.29, or vice versa, the connector 209, 1602, 2304 bends to conform to the changing shape of the vagina. The dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 is inserted into the vagina so that the vibrator motor assembly 101, 1501, 2301 can be positioned near the posterior fornix, near the uterosacral ligament and the uterovaginal ganglion. The connector 209, 1602, 2304 can be configured to be used as an applicator to insert the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 into the vagina. The connector 209, 1602, 2304 remains in the proper position in the vagina, with the power assembly 103, 2306 located outside the vagina. The connector 209, 1602, 2304 continues to be located in the vagina throughout the treatment period and when the user performs daily activities (such as sitting, walking, running and other activities). Each of these activities affects the shape and orientation of the vagina. The natural shape of the vagina is not straight. The vagina slopes backwards between the urethra and rectum, where the urethra joins its anterior wall. If standing, the vagina will point in an upward and posterior direction to form a 45-degree angle with the uterus and about a 60-degree angle with the horizontal plane. However, the exact angle is variable depending on the individual anatomy and the contents of the bladder and colon. In addition, the shape of the vagina changes as the user moves, such as when crossing her legs, sitting / standing, twisting, etc. Because treatment occurs over a period of time, the flexibility of the connectors 209, 1602, 2304 must accommodate the movement of the user's body in various positions without causing excessive discomfort.
[0145] In order to achieve this consistency with the flexible nature of the vagina, connectors 209, 1602, 2304 are made of materials within certain ranges of a set of parameters. In order to test the parameter values of a specific connector material, a linear stress test or a pull test of a connector material sample (by itself and without any wires or other components of the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200) is performed. According to the linear stress test, an elasticity measurement of a specific sample can be obtained, which remains unchanged in the area designed by Hooke's law. The measurement of elasticity is based on the displacement of the sample due to the linear stress applied to the sample. Each sample can then be used to test to determine the elastic range of the connector material, which allows the connector assembly to be effectively used as an applicator. For example, the linear stress test is performed at room temperature of about 23°C. The sample is stored at about 23°C for at least 48 hours before the linear stress test. The sample is placed between the clamps so that the gauge length of 78mm±5mm is located between the clamps. A linear force is applied to the sample at a rate of 2mm / minute. During the linear stress test, the displacement of the sample under different applied forces is measured until a force of 30N is applied. The displacement of the sample at 30 N can be reported as well as the load-displacement curve. Fig.30is a graph of displacement versus load curves (1-8) for examples of samples in eight different tube samples. One or more samples may be composed of different materials. One or more samples may be composed of the same material with different properties (e.g., hardness). Fig.31 is a graph of example graphs of displacement at 30 N for different tube samples. Based on the results of linear stress testing and use testing on the samples, it can be determined that materials that result in displacements between 9 mm and 65 mm when pulled at 30 N provide a range of flexibility that allows the connector 209, 1602, 2304 to be used as an applicator. Optionally, the diameter of the connector material can be a parameter, where the diameter can be set based on the user experience (e.g., comfort during use of the device).
[0146] Fig.32 A method of using the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 according to various embodiments is shown. Before use, if necessary, the user inserts, replaces or recharges and inserts the battery of the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200. Any battery or battery recharging technology can be used. Using the connector assembly 102, 1502, 2203 as an applicator, the user inserts the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 into the vagina (3201) with the power assembly 103, 2306 located outside the vagina. The user turns on the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 to start treatment (3202). The treatment lasts for a predetermined period of time. For example, the treatment can continue until the user turns off the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200. For another example, the treatment can run for the duration of the battery life. Once treatment is complete (3203), the user removes the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 by pulling the connector assembly 102, 1502, 2203 (3204). The user then cleans the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 (3205). The battery may be removed prior to cleaning. The user may determine whether dysmenorrhea has been relieved. If so, the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 may be stored for subsequent use. If not, the user may repeat the treatment (3201-3205), inserting another battery if necessary. The number of treatments may also be as prescribed by the physician.
[0147] In a preferred embodiment, certain connections and joints of the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 may be sealed to allow the dysmenorrhea relief device 100, 1500, 2200 to be waterproof or submersible. For example, the connection of the connector assembly 102, 1502, 2203 to the vibrator motor assembly 101, 1501, 2201 and the connection of the connector assembly 102, 1502, 2203 to the power assembly 103, 2306 may be waterproof or submersible.
[0148] In some embodiments, the PCB assembly 205, 2310 is configured with the ability to change the frequency at which the motor 902, 1802, 2301 vibrates, and additional controls may be added to the power assembly 103, 2306 to allow the user to set the frequency.
[0149] In some embodiments, the power assembly 103, 2306 is configured to include a wireless transceiver capable of communicating with a wireless device (such as a mobile device). For example, an application located on the mobile device can be configured to communicate with the wireless transceiver to turn the motor 902, 1802, 2301 on / off, to adjust the frequency of the vibration, to set the duration of the treatment, or to monitor the battery life.
[0150] In some embodiments, PCB assembly 205, 2310 includes a microprocessor configured to store preset treatment parameters (e.g., frequency, amplitude, duration, etc.). The microprocessor can be configured to set a maximum limit for one or more treatment parameters to ensure the safety of the user. The microprocessor can also be configured to perform actions in response to specific triggers. For example, when an unsafe condition such as motor 902, 1802, 2301 exceeding a temperature threshold is detected, the microprocessor can shut down motor 902, 1802, 2301.
[0151] In an alternative embodiment, the power assembly 103, 2306 is configured to be located near the vibrator motor assembly 101, 1501, 2201, wherein both the power assembly 103, 2306 and the vibrator motor assembly 101, 1501, 2201 are located within the vagina during treatment. The PCB assembly 205, 2310 of the power assembly 103, 2306 includes a wireless transceiver, and the vibrator motor assembly 101, 1501, 2201 is controlled by the user through communication with an application on a wireless device. Here, no wires pass through the interior of the connector.
