Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present application relates to the field of batteries, and in particular to a method for manufacturing a secondary battery cell and an electrical device. Background Art
[0002] Secondary batteries refer to batteries that can be charged and discharged repeatedly. At present, secondary batteries are widely used in automobile power units and energy storage devices, which have led to major changes in the social energy structure and greatly reduced the carbon emissions of automobiles. Multiple secondary battery cells are combined into a battery pack to store electrical energy and release electrical energy to electrical devices. Secondary battery cells include various types, such as cylindrical, square, blade-shaped and other structures. Existing square batteries generally include a battery shell with openings at both ends and closed on other surfaces, a battery material installed in the battery shell, and a battery top cover that closes the openings at both ends of the battery shell. During assembly, the battery material needs to be first loaded into the space of the battery shell, and then the two battery top covers are used to close the openings at both ends of the battery shell. Before closing the openings at both ends of the battery shell, the battery material needs to be electrically connected to the pole on the battery top cover. In this process, the battery is loaded into the space inside the battery shell and then welded to the battery top cover. There are problems such as limited operating space and cumbersome process. It is necessary to optimize the product structure and introduce a more simplified and easy-to-operate assembly method.
[0003] At the same time, the battery top cover of traditional secondary batteries is usually fixed by fitting the battery shell from the outside of the open end of the battery shell to the outside of the battery shell and welding it to seal it. This structure limits the battery shell with two open ends to be unable to be welded and fixed to the battery cell before assembly. Only a certain welding space can be left to weld the adapter and then buckle it to the outside of the battery shell for sealing and welding. At the same time, part of the cylindrical pole will rotate. Traditionally, part of the circumferential surface is generally made into a straight surface shape to prevent rotation, but it will affect the current carrying capacity and strength of the product. The housing 10 is a square structure, a circular structure or a blade structure, and the material includes any one of aluminum alloy, stainless steel, titanium alloy and the like. On the square structure or the blade structure, an explosion-proof plate 50 is provided on a side surface of the outer peripheral wall 15 with a smaller area. The explosion-proof plate 50 can be formed on the side surface of the outer peripheral wall 15 by etching, and the etching method includes laser ablation, etc.; the explosion-proof plate 50 can also be separately punched to form an explosion-proof notch, and an explosion-proof hole is opened on the side surface of the outer peripheral wall 15, and then the punched explosion-proof plate 50 is welded to the explosion-proof hole.
[0046] The shell of the secondary battery cell of the present application can be formed in a variety of ways, and different manufacturing processes can be used for different metal materials. If the shell is made of aluminum alloy, it is preferably formed by stamping and stretching an aluminum alloy sheet; if the shell is made of stainless steel, the thickness of the shell will be greatly reduced, and it will be difficult to use a stretching process. At this time, the thin steel plates can be bent and spliced into a predetermined shape and then welded and sealed; and titanium alloy materials can also be formed by welding.
[0047] The battery cell assembly 40 includes a battery cell unit 41 located in the middle, adapters 42 connected to the battery cell unit 41 at the front and rear ends respectively, and brackets 43 supported at the front and rear ends of the battery cell unit 41. The electrode assembly 20 is electrically connected to the front end of the battery cell unit 41 through at least one adapter 42, and the top cover assembly 30 is electrically connected to the rear end of the battery cell unit 41 through at least one adapter 42. The bracket 43 is used to fix the battery cell unit 41 in the cavity 11 of the housing 10 to prevent the battery cell unit 41 from shaking.

[0049] The electrode assembly 20 may be circular or racetrack shaped, such as Figure 1 , Figure 2 The runway-shaped structure is shown. Figure 3The structure shown is a circular structure; the electrode assembly 20 can also be a square structure, but the electrode assembly 20 of the present application can be in a variety of shapes and structures, but the internal structure principle is basically the same. The electrode assembly 20 of the present application is used as the positive electrode of the secondary battery cell, and the top cover assembly 30 is used as the negative electrode of the secondary battery cell of the present application, but the electrode assembly 20 and the top cover assembly 30 can also be used as the negative electrode and the positive electrode in reverse.
[0050] Please continue reading Figures 8 to 12 As shown, for ease of description, the electrode assembly 20 of the present application is Figure 8 The L1 direction shown is defined as the radial direction, and the L2 direction is defined as vertically upward. The electrode assembly 20 of the present application is assembled in the mounting hole 12 on the end wall 14 of the housing 10. The electrode assembly 20 includes a substrate 21 having a first through hole 216 formed therethrough, a pole 22 assembled in the first through hole 216, a sealing ring 24 crimped between the pole 22 and the substrate 21, an isolation pad 23 isolating the pole 22 from the substrate 21, and an insulating member 25.
[0051] Specifically, the base plate 21 includes a base portion 211, a first step portion 214 and a second step portion 215 which are arranged in sequence along the radial outer side from the outer end surface of the base portion 211, the first through hole 216 penetrating the base portion 211, an outer annular groove 213 formed on the outer side of the base portion 211 at the periphery of the first through hole 216, and an inner annular groove 212 formed on the inner side of the base portion 211 at the periphery of the first through hole 216. The inner diameter of the inner annular groove 212 is greater than the inner diameter of the outer annular groove 213, the inner side surface where the first step portion 214 and the second step portion 215 are located is flush with the inner side surface of the base portion 211, that is, the thickness of the first step portion 214 is greater than the thickness of the second step portion 215, and the inner diameter of the inner annular groove 212 is limited to the outer diameter range of the base portion 211.
[0052] The insulating member 25 includes a connector 251 attached to the radial inner wall surface of the inner annular groove 212, an isolating portion 252 extending from the top of the connector 251 along the radial inner side, an insulating body 253 extending from the bottom of the connector 251 along the radial outer side to cover the bottom surface of the substrate 21, and a third through hole 256 formed through the isolating portion 252. The inner diameter of the third through hole 256 of the insulating member 25 is greater than the inner diameter of the first through hole 216 of the mounting hole substrate 21, and the isolating portion 252 is attached to the top surface of the inner annular groove 212.
[0053] The pole 22 includes a column 221, a lower limit portion 222 extending radially outward from the bottom of the column 221, and an upper limit portion 223 folded radially outward from the top of the column 221. The middle part of the column 221 protrudes outward from the surface of the upper limit portion 223. The sealing ring 24 includes a first sealing ring body 241 and a second sealing ring body 242 protruding upward from the inner side of the first sealing ring body 241, and the radial thickness of the second sealing ring body 242 is less than the vertical thickness of the first sealing ring body 241.
[0054] The isolation pad 23 is installed on the outer ring groove 213 at the periphery of the first through hole 216 of the substrate 21 to support and isolate the upper limit portion 223. Specifically, the isolation pad 23 includes a horizontal pad ring 231 attached to the surface of the outer ring groove 213, an inner edge lower extension portion 232 extending downward from the inner side of the horizontal pad ring 231 to the inner wall surface of the first through hole 216, and an outer edge upper extension portion 233 extending upward from the outer side of the horizontal pad ring 231 along the edge of the outer ring groove 213.
[0055] Please refer to Fig.12As shown, when assembling the electrode assembly 20, the sealing ring 24 is first inserted from top to bottom into the outside of the column 221 of the pole 22, and the first sealing ring body 241 of the sealing ring 24 is attached to the surface of the lower limit portion 222, and the inner wall surfaces of the first sealing ring body 241 and the second sealing ring body 242 are attached to the outer surface of the column 221; the insulating member 25 is installed on the inner ring groove 212 on the inner side of the substrate 21, at this time, the top surfaces of the connecting body 251 and the isolating portion 252 are attached to the inner surface of the inner ring groove 212, but the isolating portion 252 only covers the inner surface of the inner ring groove 212 close to the radial outer side, and the insulating body 253 covers a certain area of the lower surface of the substrate 21; it should be noted that before the pole 22 is assembled, the upper limit portion 223 is not folded outward, but is in contact with the The outer surface of the column 221 is kept flush or does not extend radially outward from the outer surface of the column 221. In this step, the unfolded pole 22 is passed upward through the third through hole 256 and the first through hole 216, and the lower limit portion 222 is accommodated in the groove on the lower side of the isolation portion 252, that is, the lower limit portion 222 overlaps with the insulating body 253 at least in the radial direction. The projection portion; the isolation pad 23 is inserted into the outside of the column 221 from top to bottom. Specifically, the horizontal gasket ring 231 of the isolation pad 23 is supported on the outer ring groove 213, and the inner edge lower extension portion 232 is attached to the outer surface of the column 221 and extends downward into the first through hole 216 to isolate the column 221 from the substrate 21; finally, the upper limit portion 223 in a vertical state is folded outward by a tool to be pressed on the horizontal gasket ring 231. After the riveting is completed, the vertical thickness of the first sealing ring body 241 of the sealing ring 24 is squeezed and thinned and expanded radially outward, and finally, the outer edge of the first sealing ring body 241 will generate a certain squeezing force on the inner edge of the isolation portion 252 of the insulating member 25 to achieve complete sealing, and the second sealing ring body 242 is squeezed downward by the inner edge lower extension portion 232 of the isolation pad 23 to achieve sealing. The upper limit portion 223 is at least partially wrapped by the outer edge upper extension portion 233.
[0056] It should be noted that the electrode assembly of this application Figure 8 , Fig. 9 The runway-shaped structure is shown. Fig.10 , Fig.11 is a cross-sectional stereogram of a circular structure, and Fig.12 The cross-sectional view of the racetrack-shaped structure is the same as the cross-sectional view of the circular structure. Because the racetrack-shaped structure has straight edges on its periphery, there is no need to worry about the rotation of its internal components, while the circular electrode assembly needs to ensure that its internal components do not rotate.
[0057] Please refer to the following Fig.10 , Fig.11As shown, when it is a circular electrode assembly 20, an anti-rotation structure needs to be provided, specifically, the base portion 211 of the substrate 21 protrudes radially inward to form an inner ring groove convex portion 217 located in the inner ring groove 212, the connecting portion 251 of the insulating member 25 corresponding to the position of the inner ring groove convex portion 217 is recessed inward to form an anti-rotation groove 254 and an anti-rotation convex portion 255 protruding to the lower side of the isolation portion 252, and an anti-rotation notch 224 is formed on the outer periphery of the lower limit portion 222 of the pole 22 corresponding to the anti-rotation convex portion 255. After assembly, the substrate 21 is buckled into the anti-rotation groove 254 of the insulating component 25 through the inner ring groove protrusion 217 to prevent the two from rotating, and the anti-rotation protrusion 255 of the insulating component 25 is inserted into the anti-rotation notch 224 outside the lower limit portion 222 of the pole 22 to prevent the two from rotating. In this way, the electrode assembly 20 can effectively prevent the insulating component 25 and the pole 22 therein from rotating relative to the substrate 21.
[0058] The electrode assembly 20 of the present application is provided with an anti-rotation notch 224 on the outer periphery of the lower limit portion 222 of the pole 22 to cooperate with the insulating member 25 and the substrate 21 to achieve stability among the three. Compared with the traditional method of providing the anti-rotation structure of the pole 22 on the outer surface of the column 221, the integrity of the column 221 can be achieved to avoid damaging its transmission carrying capacity. At the same time, the processing difficulty and complexity of the pole 22 can be effectively reduced, thereby reducing the manufacturing cost.
[0059] Please continue reading Figures 13 to 16 As shown, the structure of the top cover assembly 30 is basically similar to that of the electrode assembly 20, except that the substrate 21 of the top cover assembly 30 is wider and needs to cover the opening 13 at one end of the housing 10, and an edge buckle groove 218 is provided on the inner side of the outer edge of the substrate 21 to fit on the outer peripheral wall 15 of the housing 10 for welding and fixing. There are some differences in the structure of the substrate 21, specifically: the design of the second step portion 215 is cancelled, and the rest of the structure is basically the same.
[0060] The adapter sheet 42 is welded to the bottom surfaces of the electrode assembly 20 and the pole 22 of the top cover assembly 30 .
[0061] Please continue reading Fig.17 , Fig.18 As shown, the electrode assembly 20 and the top cover assembly 30 of the present application also include other embodiments. In order to ensure the gripping force of the upper limit portion 223 of the pole 22, a steel pad 26 is clamped between the horizontal gasket ring 231 of the isolation pad 23 and the upper limit portion 223. The steel pad 26 is a thin sheet structure (such as Fig.17The steel pad 26 is used to disperse the squeezing force of the upper limit portion 223 on the horizontal pad ring 231 to avoid damaging the isolation pad 23. The steel pad 26 also includes a horizontal steel pad ring body 261 and a steel pad flange 262 (as shown in FIG. 1 ) formed by folding upward from the outer edge of the steel pad ring body 261. Fig.18 As shown in the figure, the existence of the steel pad flange 262 can limit the radially outward rolling range of the upper limit portion 223 when it is extruded and folded, thereby avoiding damage to the outer edge extension portion 233 caused by excessive extrusion.
[0062] Please continue reading Figures 1 to 18 As shown, the assembly method of the secondary battery cell of the present application will be described in detail below:
[0063] S10: Weld different adapters 42 to the poles 22 of the electrode assembly 20 and the top cover assembly 30 respectively; at the same time, fix the battery cell unit 41 to the bracket 43; pass the adapter 42 connected to the electrode assembly 20 and the top cover assembly 30 through the bracket 43 to electrically connect the two poles of the battery cell unit 41; the electrode assembly 20 is fixed to the front end face of one bracket 43, and the top cover assembly 30 is temporarily fixed to the rear end face of the other bracket 43, so that the electrode assembly 20, the top cover assembly 30 and the battery cell unit 41 become a combination through the bracket 43.
[0064] In this step, the adapter plate 42 is attached to the lower surface of the column 221 of the pole 22 and fixed together by welding on one side of the adapter plate 42 .
[0065] S20: Pushing the assembly obtained in step S10 into the cavity 11 through the opening 13 at the rear end of the housing 10;
[0066] In this step, the two brackets 43 are respectively provided with fixing structures for fixing the electrode assembly 20 and the top cover assembly 30, and the fixing structures include snap-fit structures or glue bonding structures, etc., and the longitudinal ends of the battery cell unit 41 are respectively fixed by a pair of brackets 43. The electrode assembly 20, the top cover assembly 30 and the battery cell unit 41 form a relatively stable integral structure. After the above-mentioned combination is pushed into the cavity 11, the electrode assembly 20 is correspondingly pushed to the mounting hole 12 of the end wall 14 on the front side of the shell 10, and the outer shape structure of the bracket 43 corresponds to the shape of the cavity 11, so that the combination is kept in a predetermined position after being pushed in.
[0067] Key References Fig.17As shown, the second step portion 215 of the substrate 21 of the electrode assembly 20 is received in the inner groove 142 of the end wall 14 and overlapped with the lower side of the convex edge 141, the bottom surface of the second step portion 215 of the substrate 21 is flush with the inner wall surface of the end wall 14, and the top surface of the first step portion 214 is flush with the outer surface of the end wall 14, that is, the thickness of the first step portion 214 is consistent with the thickness of the end wall 14, and the edge of the first step portion 214 is closely attached to the edge of the mounting hole 12. There is a certain gap between the edge of the second step portion 215 and the edge of the inner groove 142.
[0068] Key References Figure 6 , Fig.13 As shown, the base plate 21 of the top cover assembly 30 closes the opening 13 of the housing 10 , and the edge buckle groove 218 fits the edge of the opening 13 of the housing 10 for positioning.
[0069] S30: welding and fixing the substrate 21 of the electrode assembly 20 to the end wall 14, and welding and fixing the substrate 21 of the top cover assembly 30 to the edge of the opening 13 of the housing 10;
[0070] In this step, the electrode assembly 20 is irradiated with a laser from the front side of the end wall 14 at the joint between the first step portion 214 and the mounting hole 12, and a welding circle is formed to form a welding area S so that the substrate 21 of the electrode assembly 20 and the end wall 14 are sealed and fixed as a whole.
[0071] During laser irradiation, the second step portion 215 can block leaked laser light, so that the laser light will not leak into the cavity 11 and damage the battery cell 41. Meanwhile, the second step portion 215 abuts against the convex edge 141 and also plays a role in initial positioning.
[0072] In one embodiment, a groove structure is formed between the convex edge 141 and the upper end of the first step portion 214 , and solder is added into the groove structure to increase the stability and operability of welding.
[0073] The welding of the top cover assembly 30 and the edge of the opening 13 is prior art. For details, please refer to the applicant's disclosed patent technology 202323075601.2, which will not be repeated here.
[0074] Compared with the prior art, the electrode assembly, secondary battery cell and manufacturing method thereof of the present application, by only setting an opening 13 at one end of the outer shell 10 and a closed end wall 14 at the other end, only a mounting hole 12 needs to be opened on the end wall 14, so that the battery cell unit 41, electrode assembly 20 and top cover assembly 30 are first electrically connected through the adapter 42 and then inserted into and assembled from one end of the outer shell 10, and finally the electrode assembly 20 and top cover assembly 30 are respectively welded to the mounting hole 12 and the opening 13, which simplifies the difficulty of assembly and improves processing efficiency.
[0075] The main point is to fit the electrode assembly 20 onto the end wall 14 from the inside out and weld it from the outside by laser irradiation, which simplifies the assembly process and takes into account the feasibility of laser welding. Compared with the prior art where both top cover assemblies 30 need to be installed and welded from the outside, the welding of the adapter 42 is simpler and more feasible.
[0076] In another embodiment, if Fig.19 As shown, the end wall 14 is formed by folding a little edge inward from the outer peripheral wall 15 of the shell to support the electrode assembly 20 loaded from the inside out, that is, the mounting hole 12 is a square hole or other large hole and is adapted to the shape of the shell 10, that is, the shape of the electrode assembly 20 is closer to the shape of the top cover assembly 30. However, no matter what form is used, the focus of the present application is that the electrode assembly 20 is inserted from one side of the opening 13 end of the shell 10 to the mounting hole 12 at the other end opposite to the opening 13.
[0077] The present application also provides an electrical device, which is an electric car, an energy storage device, etc.
[0078] The technical features of the above embodiments may be combined arbitrarily. To make the description concise, not all possible combinations of the technical features in the above embodiments are described. However, as long as there is no contradiction in the combination of these technical features, they should be considered to be within the scope of this specification.
[0079] The above embodiments only express the preferred implementation modes of the present invention, and the descriptions thereof are relatively specific and detailed, but they cannot be understood as limiting the scope of the invention patent. It should be pointed out that, for those of ordinary skill in the art, several variations and improvements can be made without departing from the concept of the present invention, and these all belong to the protection scope of the present invention. Therefore, the protection scope of the patent of the present invention shall be subject to the attached claims.
