[0009] [Description of Embodiments of the Invention] First, embodiments of the present invention will be described by way of examples. [1] The connector device of the present invention comprises a connector and a retaining body that receives the connector therein, the connector comprising a housing and a bus bar, a plurality of cavities being formed in the housing, the bus bar being retained in the housing so that female terminal parts can be inserted into the cavities from the rear, the plurality of cavities being arranged in a row in the left-right direction, the bus bar having a plurality of protrusions disposed at the front end of each of the cavities, the housing being formed into a flat shape that is longer in the left-right direction than in the up-down direction, the retaining body having left and right side wall surfaces that are opposed to the left and right side surfaces of the connector when the connector is received therein, connector side locking portions being provided on the left and right side surfaces of the housing, and retaining body side locking portions that are engaged with the connector side locking portions being provided on the left and right side wall surfaces of the retaining body. According to such a configuration, since the connector side locking portions do not need to be provided on the upper surface or the lower surface of the housing, the connector can be received and retained in the retaining body without increasing the height dimension of the flat housing. [2] In the connector device described in [1] above, the left and right side wall surfaces of the retaining body may have a locking arm extending in a cantilevered manner from the inner side of the retaining body to the open side, the retaining body side locking portion is provided on the locking arm, and the top end of the locking arm is arranged in front of the open end of the retaining body. According to such a configuration, it is easier to deform the locking arm in the unlocking direction than in the case where the retaining body side locking portion is arranged on the inner side of the retaining body. Therefore, when it is desired to remove the connector from the retaining body, the locked state of the retaining body side locking portion and the connector side locking portion can be easily released. [3] In the connector device described in [2] above, the retaining body side locking portion may be provided to protrude inwardly in the left-right direction of the locking arm, and may have a retaining body side contact surface, the retaining body side contact surface contacts the connector side locking portion when the connector is inserted into the retaining body, and the retaining body side contact surface is inclined in a manner that the protruding dimension gradually increases from the top end side of the locking arm toward the inner side. According to such a configuration, the connector side locking portion can smoothly step onto the retaining body side locking portion due to the inclination of the retaining body side contact surface provided on the retaining body side locking portion, so that the connector can be smoothly inserted into the retaining body. [4] In the connector device described in any one of [1] to [3] above, the connector may include a stopper that prevents the female terminal part inserted into the cavity from falling out, the stopper including a main body extending in the left-right direction and a locking portion provided at both ends of the main body in the left-right direction, a locking groove for engaging the locking portion is provided on the left and right side surfaces of the housing, and a restricting opening surface is provided on the locking groove, the restricting opening surface is inclined in a manner that restricts the locking portion from opening outward in the left-right direction. According to such a configuration, the locking portion of the stopper can be prevented from opening outward in the left-right direction to form a step on the side surface of the connector, so that the connector can be smoothly inserted into the retaining body. [5] In the connector device described in [4] above, the connector side locking portion may be provided to protrude outward in the left and right directions from the left and right side surfaces of the housing, and may have a connector side contact surface, wherein the connector side contact surface contacts the retaining body side locking portion when the connector is inserted into the retaining body, and the connector side contact surface is provided continuously with the opening restriction surface and is inclined in a manner that the protruding dimension gradually increases from the front side toward the rear side. According to such a configuration, the connector side locking portion can smoothly straddle the retaining body side locking portion due to the retaining body side contact surface and the inclination of the connector side contact surface, so that the connector can be smoothly inserted into the retaining body.
[0010] [Details of Embodiments of the Invention] Specific examples of the connector device of the present invention are described below with reference to the drawings. The two connectors 10 are inserted into the holding body 60 from an opening end 61. The holding body 60 is provided with two receiving portions 62 for receiving the connectors 10, respectively.
[0012] In the description of the retaining body 60, the side provided with the open end 61 is referred to as the front side, and the inner side of the storage portion 62 is referred to as the rear side. In the description of the connector 10, the front side relative to the insertion direction of the retaining body 60 is referred to as the front side. In the description of either the retaining body 60 or the connector 10, the up-down direction is referred to as the back side. Figure 1 The vertical direction is taken as the reference, and the left and right directions are directions orthogonal to the vertical direction and the front and rear direction. These directions are defined for explaining the connector device C and may not be consistent with the directions in the use state. Figure 3 to Figure 5 In the drawings, “front side”, “left side” and “upper side” are represented by reference symbols X, Y and Z, respectively.
[0013] like Figure 2 As shown, the holding body 60 includes a partition wall 63 that separates two storage sections 62. The two storage sections 62 are arranged vertically. Each storage section 62 is long in the left-right direction. The size of each storage section 62 in the vertical direction is smaller than the size in the left-right direction.
[0014] like Figure 2 As shown, the two connectors 10 are housed in each housing portion 62 in such a manner that the two connectors 10 face each other in the upper and lower directions. The two connectors 10 have the same structure. The connector 10 will be described with the side on which the stopper 50 is mounted being the lower side.
[0015] like Figure 2 As shown, each storage portion 62 is surrounded by an upper wall surface 60A, a lower wall surface 60B, and left and right side wall surfaces 60C. When the connector 10 is stored in the holding body 60, the upper wall surface 60A faces the upper surface 10A of the connector 10, the lower wall surface 60B faces the lower surface 10B of the connector 10, and the left and right side wall surfaces 60C face the left and right side surfaces 10C of the connector 10. Both the upper and lower surfaces of the partition wall 63 are the lower wall surface 60B facing the lower surface 10B of the connector 10.
[0016] In each storage section 62, the upper wall surface 60A and the lower wall surface 60B are arranged in parallel. In each storage section 62, the left and right side wall surfaces 60C are arranged in parallel. The left and right side wall surfaces 60C are provided with the retaining body side locking parts 66. The retaining body side locking parts 66 are provided in pairs on the left and right sides at the upper and lower layers. A total of four retaining body side locking parts 66 are provided.
[0017] like Figure 2 As shown, the retaining body side locking portion 66 is provided on the locking arm 64. The locking arm 64 is formed between upper and lower slits 65. Each slit 65 extends linearly from the opening end 61 of the retaining body 60 to the rear. The locking arm 64 extends from the rear side to the front side in a cantilevered shape. The locking arm 64 can be elastically displaced in the left and right directions starting from the rear end side. The top end of the locking arm 64 protrudes to the front of the opening end 61 of the retaining body 60. The retaining body side locking portion 66 will be described in detail later.
[0018] like Figure 3 As shown, the connector 10 includes a housing 20, two bus bars 40, and a stopper 50. The two bus bars 40 are arranged in two layers, one above the other, relative to the housing 20. Each bus bar 40 is formed by punching a conductive metal plate. Each bus bar 40 has a connecting portion 41 and a plurality of protrusions 42. The connecting portion 41 extends in the left-right direction. A plurality of connecting holes 43 are formed in the connecting portion 41. The plurality of protrusions 42 are arranged in the left-right direction and protrude rearward from the rear edge of the connecting portion 41. The two bus bars 40 are inserted and installed in the housing 20 from the front.
[0019] The stopper 50 is pressed upward from the bottom and installed in the housing 20. The stopper 50 is made of synthetic resin, and has a main body 51 and a locking portion 52. The main body 51 extends in the left-right direction. The main body 51 is provided with a plurality of terminal locking portions 53 that are locked with female terminal parts not shown in the figure. When the stopper 50 is installed in the housing 20, it is locked with the female terminal parts inserted into each cavity 23 to prevent the female terminal parts from falling off. The female terminal parts are made of conductive metal and are connected to the terminal parts of the electric wires not shown in the figure. When the stopper 50 is installed in the housing 20, the lower surface 50B of the main body 51 is connected to the lower surface 20B of the housing 20 without a step (refer to Figure 4 The lower surface 50B of the main body 51 and the lower surface 20B of the housing 20 constitute the lower surface 10B of the connector 10 .
[0020] like Figure 3As shown in the figure, the left and right locking parts 52 are provided at both ends of the main body 51 in the left-right direction. Each locking part 52 is in the shape of a wall and protrudes upward from the main body 51. A locking recess 54 is formed in each locking part 52. The locking recess 54 is locked with the locking protrusion 22 provided on the housing 20. The locking recess 54 is provided on the inner surface 50D of each locking part 52 in the left-right direction. The locking recess 54 is locked with the locking protrusion 22, so that the stopper 50 is maintained in a state of being mounted on the housing 20.
[0021] like Figure 5 As shown in FIG. 1 , each locking portion 52 is formed into a shape that is embedded in the locking groove portion 28 described later. Specifically, as shown in FIG. Figure 6 As shown, the cross-sectional shape of each locking portion 52 perpendicular to the vertical direction is a trapezoidal shape that matches the shape of the locking groove portion 28. The left-right outer surface 50C of each locking portion 52 is connected to the left and right side surfaces 20C of the housing 20 without a step when the stopper 50 is mounted on the housing 20 (see FIG. Figure 5 The outer surfaces 50C of the locking portions 52 and the left and right side surfaces 20C of the housing 20 constitute the left and right side surfaces 10C of the connector 10 .
[0022] The housing 20 is made of synthetic resin, such as Figure 3 As shown, the plate surface along the bus bar 40 is formed into a flat shape. The size of the housing 20 in the up-down direction is smaller than the size in the left-right direction. The size of the housing 20 in the left-right direction is larger than the size in the front-back direction.
[0023] The housing 20 has a plurality of cavities 23 formed therein. The plurality of cavities 23 are arranged in two layers, one above the other. In each layer, the cavities 23 are arranged in the left-right direction. The female terminal parts are inserted into each cavity 23 from the rear.
[0024] like Figure 6 As shown, a busbar mounting portion 24 is formed at the front end of the housing 20. The busbar mounting portion 24 is arranged in front of the cavity 23. Two busbar mounting portions 24 are arranged corresponding to the two-layer cavity 23. Each busbar mounting portion 24 is open to the front. The busbar 40 is inserted into the busbar mounting portion 24 from the front. A plurality of locking protrusions 25 are provided on the busbar mounting portion 24. The locking protrusions 25 are engaged with the connecting holes 43 of each busbar 40 to prevent each busbar 40 from falling off. The protrusions 42 are arranged to protrude one by one at the front end of each cavity 23.
[0025] like Figure 3 As shown, the housing 20 is provided with a stopper mounting portion 26. The stopper mounting portion 26 has a main body groove 27 and a locking groove 28. The main body 51 of the stopper 50 is fitted into the main body groove 27. The locking portion 52 of the stopper 50 is fitted into the locking groove 28.
[0026] like Figure 6As shown in FIG. 1 , the main body groove 27 is formed in the middle of the cavity 23 in the front-rear direction and extends in the left-right direction. The main body groove 27 opens at the lower surface 20B of the housing 20 (see FIG. 1 ). Figure 3 and Figure 5 The locking grooves 28 are recessed in the left and right side surfaces 20C of the housing 20. A locking projection 22 is protrudingly provided in each locking groove 28 (see Figure 3 ).
[0027] like Figure 7 As shown, each locking groove 28 has a restricted opening surface 29. The restricted opening surface 29 restricts the locking portion 52 from opening outward in the left-right direction. The restricted opening surface 29 constitutes the front and rear surfaces of each locking groove 28. The restricted opening surface 29 on the front side is inclined from the inside in the left-right direction to the outside and backward. The restricted opening surface 29 on the rear side is inclined from the inside in the left-right direction to the outside and forward. The dimension of the locking groove 28 in the front-to-back direction gradually decreases from the inside in the left-right direction to the outside.
[0028] like Figure 5 As shown in FIG. 1 , the connector-side lock portions 11 are provided on the left and right side surfaces 20C of the housing 20. The connector-side lock portions 11 are provided to protrude outward in the left-right direction from the left and right side surfaces 20C of the housing 20.
[0029] like Figure 4 As shown, the connector-side lock portion 11 is formed from a position slightly above the vertical center of the housing 20 to the lower end of the housing 20. The left and right connector-side lock portions 11 have the same structure, so only one side will be described.
[0030] like Figure 7 As shown, the connector side locking portion 11 includes a connector side stop surface 12, a connector side guide surface 13, and a connector side contact surface 14. The connector side stop surface 12 is provided at the rear end of the connector side locking portion 11. The connector side stop surface 12 forms an angle close to vertical with respect to the left and right side surfaces 20C of the housing 20. The connector side stop surface 12 is located on the front side of the rear end of the housing 20.
[0031] The connector side contact surface 14 is provided on the front side of the connector side locking portion 11. The connector side contact surface 14 contacts the holding body side locking portion 66 when the connector 10 is inserted into the holding body 60 (see Figure 8 ). The connector side contact surface 14 is inclined in a manner that the protruding dimension gradually increases from the front side to the rear side. The connector side contact surface 14 is provided continuously with the opening restriction surface 29. In other words, the front end of the connector side contact surface 14 and the left and right outer ends of the opening restriction surface 29 are arranged at the same position. Thus, the outer surface 50C of the locking portion 52 and the connector side contact surface 14 are continuous in the front and rear without any interval.
[0032] The connector-side guide surface 13 is provided between the connector-side locking surface 12 and the connector-side contact surface 14. The connector-side guide surface 13 is parallel to the left and right side surfaces 20C of the housing 20.
[0033] like Figure 7 As shown, the retainer side lock portion 66 is provided at the free end of the lock arm 64. The retainer side lock portion 66 protrudes inward in the left-right direction of the lock arm 64. Half of the retainer side lock portion 66 in the front-back direction is arranged forward of the open end 61 of the retainer 60.
[0034] The retaining body side locking portion 66 includes a retaining body side stopper surface 67, a retaining body side guide surface 68, and a retaining body side contact surface 69. The retaining body side stopper surface 67 is provided at the rear end of the retaining body side locking portion 66. The retaining body side stopper surface 67 forms an angle close to vertical with respect to the inner surface of the locking arm 64. The retaining body side stopper surface 67 is located at the rear side of the opening end 61 of the retaining body 60. The retaining body side locking portion 66 and the connector side locking portion 11 are locked in the storage portion 62.
[0035] The holding body side contact surface 69 is provided on the front side of the holding body side locking portion 66. The holding body side contact surface 69 contacts the connector side locking portion 11 when the connector 10 is inserted into the holding body 60 (see Figure 8 The body-side contact surface 69 is inclined so as to gradually increase the protruding dimension from the front side toward the rear side.
[0036] The retainer side guide surface 68 is provided between the retainer side stop surface 67 and the retainer side contact surface 69. The retainer side guide surface 68 is parallel to the inner surface of the lock arm 64. The length dimension of the retainer side guide surface 68 in the front-to-back direction is smaller than the length dimension of the connector side guide surface 13 in the front-to-back direction.
[0037] Next, an example of the operation of inserting the connector 10 from the opening end 61 of the holding body 60 into the housing 62 will be described. Figure 8 As shown, the locking portion 52 of the stop body 50 is arranged so as not to float outward in the left-right direction by means of the limiting opening surface 29 of the locking groove 28. As a result, no steps are formed on the left and right side surfaces 10C of the connector 10. The left and right side surfaces 10C of the connector 10 will not be hooked relative to the retaining body side locking portion 66, and can be smoothly inserted into the inner side of the retaining body 60. The connector side contact surface 14 abuts against the retaining body side contact surface 69, and when the connector 10 is further pressed in, the locking arm 64 elastically shifts outward in the left-right direction, and the connector side locking portion 11 passes inside the retaining body side locking portion 66. As shown in FIG. Figure 7As shown in FIG. 1 , the connector side locking portion 11 enters the inner side of the retaining body side locking portion 66, and the locking arm 64 elastically recovers. As a result, the connector side stop surface 12 and the retaining body side stop surface 67 are locked. In this way, the operation of inserting the connector 10 into the retaining body 60 is completed. Since the connector side contact surface 14 and the retaining body side contact surface 69 are inclined, the operation of inserting the connector 10 into the retaining body 60 does not require much force.
[0038] When the connector 10 is removed from the retaining body 60, a force is applied to the top end of the locking arm 64 toward the outside in the left-right direction by fingers or a jig, so that the locking arm 64 is elastically displaced toward the outside in the left-right direction. As a result, the locking state of the retaining body side locking portion 66 and the connector side locking portion 11 is released, and the connector 10 can be removed from the retaining body 60. Here, in the case where the locking arm is provided on the inner side of the retaining body, in order to remove the connector from the retaining body, it is necessary to insert a jig into the inner side of the retaining body and press the locking arm in the unlocking direction. In contrast, in the connector device C, since the top end of the locking arm 64 protrudes outward from the opening end 61 of the retaining body 60, the locking arm 64 can be easily pressed in the unlocking direction. Therefore, the connector 10 can be easily removed from the retaining body 60.
[0039] Next, the function and effect of the embodiment constructed as described above are described. The connector device C includes a connector 10 and a retaining body 60 that accommodates the connector 10 inside. The connector 10 includes a housing 20 and a bus bar 40. A plurality of cavities 23 are formed in the housing 20. The bus bar 40 is retained in the housing 20. The female terminal parts can be inserted into the cavities 23 from the rear. The plurality of cavities 23 are arranged in a row in the left-right direction. The bus bar 40 has a plurality of protrusions 42 arranged at the front end of each cavity 23. The housing 20 is formed in a flat shape that is longer in the left-right direction than in the up-down direction. The retaining body 60 has left and right side wall surfaces 60C that are opposite to the left and right side surfaces 10C of the connector 10 when the connector 10 is accommodated inside. The left and right side surfaces 20C of the housing 20 are provided with a connector side locking portion 11, and the left and right side wall surfaces 60C of the retaining body 60 are provided with a retaining body side locking portion 66 that is locked with the connector side locking portion 11. According to this configuration, since the connector-side lock portion 11 need not be provided on the upper surface 20A or the lower surface 20B of the housing 20 , the connector 10 can be housed and held in the holding body 60 without increasing the height dimension of the flat housing 20 .
[0040] In addition, the left and right side wall surfaces 60C of the retaining body 60 have a locking arm 64 extending in a cantilevered manner from the inner side of the retaining body 60 to the side of the opening end 61. The retaining body side locking portion 66 is provided on the locking arm 64. The top end of the locking arm 64 is arranged in front of the opening end 61 of the retaining body 60. According to this configuration, it is easier to deform the locking arm 64 in the unlocking direction than in the case where the retaining body side locking portion is arranged on the inner side of the retaining body. Therefore, when the connector 10 is to be removed from the retaining body 60, the locked state of the retaining body side locking portion 66 and the connector side locking portion 11 can be easily released.
[0041] In addition, the retaining body side locking portion 66 is provided to protrude inwardly in the left-right direction of the locking arm 64. The retaining body side locking portion 66 has a retaining body side contact surface 69. The retaining body side contact surface 69 contacts the connector side locking portion 11 when the connector 10 is inserted into the retaining body 60. The retaining body side contact surface 69 is inclined in a manner such that the protruding dimension gradually increases from the top end side of the locking arm 64 toward the inner side of the retaining body 60. According to this configuration, the connector side locking portion 11 smoothly rides on the retaining body side locking portion 66 due to the inclination of the retaining body side contact surface 69 provided on the retaining body side locking portion 66, so that the connector 10 can be smoothly inserted into the retaining body 60.
[0042] In addition, the connector 10 has a stopper 50, which prevents the female terminal part inserted into the cavity 23 from falling out. The stopper 50 has a main body 51 and a stopper 52. The main body 51 extends in the left-right direction. The stopper 52 is provided at both ends of the main body 51 in the left-right direction. The left and right side surfaces 20C of the housing 20 are recessed with a stopper groove 28 for the stopper 52 to fit. The stopper groove 28 is provided with a limiting opening surface 29. The limiting opening surface 29 is inclined in a manner that limits the stopper 52 from opening outward in the left-right direction. According to this structure, the stopper 52 of the stopper 50 can be prevented from opening outward in the left-right direction and forming a step on the side surface 10C of the connector 10, so that the connector 10 can be smoothly inserted into the retaining body 60.
[0043] In addition, the connector side locking portion 11 is provided to protrude outward in the left and right directions from the left and right side surfaces 20C of the housing 20. The connector side locking portion 11 has a connector side contact surface 14. The connector side contact surface 14 contacts the retaining body side locking portion 66 when the connector 10 is inserted into the retaining body 60. The connector side contact surface 14 is provided continuously with the opening restriction surface 29. The connector side contact surface 14 is inclined in a manner that the protruding dimension gradually increases from the front side toward the rear side. According to this configuration, the connector side locking portion 11 smoothly straddles the retaining body side locking portion 66 by the inclination of the retaining body side contact surface 69 and the connector side contact surface 14, so that the connector 10 can be smoothly inserted into the retaining body 60.
[0044] [Other embodiments of the present invention] The embodiments disclosed this time should be considered in all respects as illustrative and non-restrictive. In the above embodiment, the holding body 60 is provided with two housing portions 62 for housing the connectors 10 , respectively. However, in other embodiments, the holding body may be provided with only one housing portion for housing the connector, or may be provided with three or more housing portions. In the above embodiment, the bus bar 40 is arranged in two layers, one above the other, with respect to the case 20 . However, in other embodiments, the bus bar may be arranged in only one layer or in three or more layers with respect to the case. In the above embodiment, the holder side lock portion 66 is provided on the lock arm 64.
