A method and apparatus for distributed resource unit-based transmission or reception in a wireless local area network (WLAN) system are disclosed. According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a method performed by a first station (STA) in a wireless local area network (WLAN) system may comprise the steps of: generating a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) comprising a first signal (SIG) field, where the first SIG field comprises one or more bitmaps associated with a distributed resource unit (DRU); and transmitting the PPDU to the one or more second STAs. Each of the one or more bitmaps may have a bit size corresponding to a maximum channel size applicable to the DRU.
