Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This invention relates to a handling device, a handle, a box, and a method of forming the handling device, the handle, and the box. In particular, it relates to a box handling device for pizza boxes, cake boxes, or other types of boxes, and a method of forming the handling device.
[0002] This invention was primarily developed for use with boxes, and will be described below with reference to this application. However, it should be understood that the invention is not limited to this specific field of use. Background Technology
[0003] For a long time, cardboard boxes have been a popular choice for packaging and transporting a wide variety of goods due to their light weight, cost-effectiveness, and versatility. However, one challenge associated with cardboard boxes is the lack of convenient and ergonomic handling methods, as standard cardboard boxes do not have handles.
[0004] In some cases, cardboard boxes are designed with flaps or handholes that require manual gripping and lifting, which often leads to discomfort, strain, and potential damage to the box or its contents. If handles are to be included in cardboard boxes, designers must consider incorporating them during the design phase and before manufacturing, such as by adding slits to the sides of the box. One way to easily handle boxes without handles is to place them in a plastic bag. The global trend towards eliminating the use of plastics and plastic bags means that alternative methods for handling cardboard boxes are needed.
[0005] Currently, handles attached to or integrated with boxes are used to address these issues. However, there is a need for a convenient, simple, easy-to-install, and cost-effective cardboard box handle.
[0006] The present invention aims to provide a box handling device that will overcome or at least substantially improve at least some of the defects of the prior art, or at least provide an alternative.
[0007] It should be understood that if any prior art information is cited in this article, such citation does not constitute an admission that such information constitutes part of common general knowledge in the art, whether in Australia or any other country. Summary of the Invention
[0008] Embodiments of the present invention provide a handling device adaptable to various boxes, including four-flap boxes, which extends through slots or apexes formed by the walls of the box without the need to manufacture or otherwise create additional holes or slots. In such embodiments, one or more portions of the handling device extending through the slot or apex are thin enough or have a small enough cross-section to eliminate the need to cut, punch, or create slots to allow one or more portions to pass through the apex or slot. Thus, embodiments of the present invention utilize holes or slots that naturally arise in certain box designs when adjacent walls of the box fold from the base and interlock or otherwise connect. Other embodiments of the present invention are thin enough or have a small enough cross-section to recess into flexible box materials such as cardboard, thereby forming grooves through the apex or edge.
[0009] This document discloses a method for forming a handle extending from a first pair of slots in a box, the box including a proximal end opposite a distal end, the method comprising:
[0010] Position the rope at the near end of the box such that a portion of the rope extends from a pair of near-end slots located at a pair of near-end corners of the box to form a loop around the near end, which forms the handle of the box, wherein the pair of near-end slots are formed by a plurality of walls of the box.

[0074] Position a portion of the rope at the far end of the box, such that the portion of the rope extends through a pair of far-end openings formed at a pair of far-end corners of the box to form the pair of handles.
[0075] In another aspect of the present invention, a conveying device for conveying objects is provided, the conveying device comprising:
[0076] The positioning part is used to position itself at the joining position on the object, where the positioning part joins with the object.
[0077] A first extendable portion is connected to a positioning portion in a first connection area, the first extendable portion being adapted to extend from an initial configuration to an extended configuration in use by manually pulling the first extendable portion away from the positioning portion;
[0078] A second extendable portion is connected to a positioning portion in a second connection area. The second extendable portion is adapted to be extended from an initial configuration to an extended configuration by manually pulling the second extendable portion away from the positioning portion during use.

[0174] It should be noted that in the following description, the same or similar reference numerals in different embodiments indicate the same or similar features.
[0175] Figures 1 to 15 A box handling device 100 according to various embodiments and its use with different types of boxes are shown. The box handling device 100 is provided to a box such that when the box handling device 100 is unfolded, it can provide a handle at one end of the box or a pair of handles at each end of the box, which are formed by ropes 10 described below.
[0176] In each embodiment shown and described, the rope 10 of the carton handling device 100 passes through at least one slot located at a corner of the carton. More specifically, each corner of the three-dimensional carton has a slot formed by the walls of the carton, which include one or more selected from the side walls, lid, and base of the carton, when the carton is folded from a flat state to a three-dimensional state. The slots provide a passage from the inside to the outside of the carton, thereby allowing the rope 10 to pass through and enabling the rope 10 to support the carton and the load.
[0177] In its most basic form, the box handling device 100 comprises only a rope 10. The rope 10 can be a loop rope (i.e., a continuous loop) or a rope whose ends are joined together by a knot 12 or a rope connector (not shown). Unless otherwise stated, the term "rope" as used herein can refer to a continuous loop or a rope whose ends are joined together. One method, as described herein, involves using the rope 10 (in its most basic form) or the box handling device 100 to provide a handle for a box. While certain types of boxes have been shown and described, it is conceivable that the rope 10 or the box handling device 100 can be used for many other types of boxes and objects.
[0178] Or, such as Figure 3 As shown, the rope 10 may have a knot 12 at each end, and a washer 12-1 at each end to prevent the knot 12 from slipping past the washer 12-1. The washer prevents the end of the rope from slipping out from the corner of the box.
[0179] In an alternative embodiment, the end of the rope may be knotted so that the knotted portion of the rope does not fit and / or will not slip out of the groove formed at the edge of the box. Alternatively, the end of the rope may be equipped with other types of attachments (not shown) to prevent the end of the rope from slipping out of the groove formed at the edge of the box.
[0180] also, Figure 3 The rope 10 shown can be used with, for example Figure 4 The sheath 20 shown is used together as described below.
[0181] Figures 1 to 4 A box-carrying device 100 is shown, which includes a rope 10 and a sheath 20. The sheath 20 includes at least one opening for the rope 10 to extend out. Figure 2 and 4 In the first embodiment shown, there is a first end 22 and a second end 24 opposite to the first end 22. The first end 22 defines a first opening 23, and the second end 24 defines a second opening 25. The rope 10 is partially arranged within the sheath 20. In other embodiments, the sheath 20 may be omitted so that only the rope 10 is used as a box-carrying device. Figure 2 In this process, the rope 10 is wound up so that it forms a substantially meandering portion 16 within the sheath 20. The meandering portion 16 of the rope 10 within the sheath 20 may be positioned substantially parallel to itself, defining the path of separation, or may be crumpled together within the sheath 20.
[0182] exist Figure 4 middle, Figure 3 The rope 10 shown is used with the sheath 20. The same components are used in conjunction with... Figure 1 and Figure 2 Same number.
[0183] It is conceivable that the sheath 20 could be made of an easily tearable material to provide minimal resistance to tearing of the rope 10 when pulled. The sheath 20 could be made of lightweight paper, such as tissue paper. Alternatively, the sheath 20 could have perforations (not shown) to allow the rope 10 to tear when pulled out from or across an opening at the corner of the box during use.
[0184] It is also conceivable that the rope 10 could be made of a strong and recyclable material, such as coconut shell or hemp, which could be in the form of hemp thread. In this embodiment, the rope 10 can be easily recycled along with the cardboard box without having to separate it from the cardboard box before recycling.
[0185] Still referencing Figures 1 to 4The rope 10 may also extend or protrude from the first opening 23 and the second opening 25. In this way, the rope 10 defines a loop 14 between the first opening 23 and the second opening 25. Alternatively, the rope 10 may extend only from the first opening 23 (in the case where the sheath 20 has only one opening) to define a loop 14 around the first opening 23. The loop 14 of the rope 10 can be pulled so that a larger portion of the rope 10 is outside the sheath 20 to provide one or more handles for the box, as will be described in more detail below. The purpose of the sheath is to hold the slack portion of the rope 10 in storage until it is pulled out to form a handle.
[0186] Initially, a portion of the rope 10 is wound inside the sheath 20, while the loop 14 is outside the sheath 20. When at least a portion of the rope 10 is positioned inside the sheath 20 such that the rope 10 is wound within the sheath 20, the rope 10 is in a wound state. The rope 10 is movable between a wound state and an extended state, in which a larger portion of the rope 10 is positioned outside the sheath 20 relative to the wound state.
[0187] The box handling device 100 (or a separate rope 10) can be used with a standard cardboard box 400, such as Figures 5 to 7 As shown. Figure 5 The flap of the box is shown closing to form a groove at the corner, circled and marked as area A. As shown, a single box handling device 100 can be used at one end of the box, or two box handling devices 100 can be used at either end. The two box handling devices 100 are positioned in their storage configuration on the flaps 410 of the cardboard box 400. A typical cardboard box 400 will have four flaps 410. Any flaps 410 can be used, as long as they are opposite each other. A ring 14 is positioned on the outside of the box 400, while the rest of the box handling device 100 is positioned inside the box 400. The ring 14 or rope 10 extends from a pair of grooves 412-1 at each end of the box 400. The grooves 412-1 are formed by adjacent sidewalls and flaps near the folds or edges 412 of the box 400. The two pairs of grooves are located at the corners of the box and are coplanar with each other. Importantly, the groove formed by the flap 410 provides a channel that allows the rope 10 to extend from the groove at the corner of the box 400.
[0188] As described above, the loop 14 can be extended to move the rope 10 from its retracted state to its extended state. When the flap 410 of the case 400 is closed and the rope 10 is in the extended state, such that most of the rope 10 is outside the sheath 20, a pair of handles 18 are formed. The pair of handles 18 extend laterally from the case 400, allowing the user to move the case 400 through the pair of handles 18.
[0189] In an alternative embodiment not shown, a pair of [unspecified] are provided for the box. Figure 4The illustrated box handling devices include a near-end box handling device and a far-end box handling device. In their storage configuration, the ring of the near-end box handling device is detachably attached to the outer surface of the near-end sidewall of the cardboard box, while the ring of the far-end box handling device 100' is positioned on the outer surface of the far-end sidewall of the cardboard box 400. In a preferred embodiment, the near-end and far-end sidewalls are sidewalls located on opposite sides of the box. A first extendable portion of the near-end handling device extends from one end of the ring, is located on the box, and extends through a first near-end upper corner of the box; a second extendable portion of the near-end handling device extends from the other end of the ring, is located on the box, and extends through a second near-end upper corner of the box. A first extendable portion of the far-end handling device extends from one end of the ring, is located on the box, and extends through a first far-end upper corner of the box; a second extendable portion of the far-end handling device extends from the other end of the ring, is located on the box, and extends through a second far-end upper corner of the box. The near-end and far-end sidewall flaps are then closed. Subsequently, the first and second lateral sidewall flaps of the box are closed, such that each lateral sidewall flap rests on at least a portion of both the proximal and distal sidewall flaps. Then, ring 14 is pulled to move the proximal box handling device to the corresponding extended configuration, thereby forming a first handle. Ring 14 is also pulled to move the distal box handling device to the corresponding extended configuration, thereby forming a second handle.
[0190] Figures 8 to 11 The image shows a box handling device 100 (or a separate rope 10) used with a pizza box 200. The box handling device 100 is positioned in its folded state at the proximal end 210 of the pizza box 200, opposite the distal end 220. The proximal end 210 of the pizza box 200 is the end opposite the hinge edge 222 of the lid 230. Due to folding, the proximal end 210 of the pizza box 200 can be referred to as the reinforced end. More specifically, the box handling device 100 is positioned within the folded sidewall 212 of the pizza box 200 at the proximal end 210. The sidewall 212 of the pizza box is folded to hold the box handling device 100 within the sidewall 212, as... Figure 8 As shown. The loop portion 14 of the rope 10 is positioned outside the pizza box 200, at the proximal end 210. By pulling the loop 14, the loop 14 becomes longer than the portion 16 wound inside the sheath 20, while the portion 16 becomes shorter. In this way, the rope 10 can be moved from a stored state to an unfolded state. The loop 14 becomes larger than the portion 16 wound inside the sheath 20 because a larger portion of the rope 10 moves outside the sheath 20 and the side wall 212.
[0191] like Figure 9As shown, when the sidewall 212 is folded to enclose the box handling device 100, the folded sidewall 212 forms a top edge 213 and a bottom edge 214. A pair of grooves 213-1 are formed at opposite ends of the top edge 213, from which the rope 10 extends.
[0192] like Figure 10 and 11 As shown, the loop 14 is extended so that the rope 10 is now in an extended state. The loop 14 is now much longer, and a portion of the loop 14 can be positioned at the distal end 220 of the pizza box 200. The hinge edge 222 at the distal end 220 includes a pair of slots 222-1 at opposite ends of the hinge edge 222.
[0193] When the lid 230 is moved to the open position, the rope 10 can be positioned at its distal end 222, between or near the pair of slots 222-1. When the lid 230 is moved to the closed position, the rope 10 extends from and is secured by the pair of slots 222-1. A portion of the rope 10 remains outside the pizza box 100. When the rope is secured in place by the two pairs of slots 213-1, 222-1, a pair of handles 18 are formed for carrying the pizza box 200. Each handle 18 is defined by a loop formed between slots 213-1 and 222-1 on the lateral side of the pizza box 200. The lid 230 has a pair of sidewalls 230-1 that clamp the rope 10 near the edge 222 when it extends through the slots formed at the corners of the box 200.
[0194] Go to Figures 12 to 15 The image shows a cake box 300 together with a box-carrying device 100 (or rope 10). The cake box 300 has a proximal end 310 and a distal end 320. The proximal end 310 includes a sidewall 312 against which the box-carrying device 100 is positioned when the sidewall 312 is in the unfolded state. As described above, a ring 14 of the box-carrying device 100 is positioned on the outside of the cake box 300. The ring 14 is positioned such that the rope 10 extends between a pair of slots 313-1, which are located at opposite ends of the edge 313 of the sidewall 312 and the base 311 when the box is formed into a three-dimensional shape. The cake box 300 also includes a lid 330 movable between an open position and a closed position.
[0195] refer to Figure 13 When the side wall 312 is in a folded or upright position, thus forming an edge 313 at the bottom of the cake box 300, the rope 10 of the box handling device 100 can move from its stored state to its unfolded state, while extending from the slot 313-1 at the corner of the box. The side wall 312 has a pair of small side walls 312-1 (in Figure 12(As can be clearly seen in the middle), they, together with the lid 330, clamp the rope 10 near the edge 313 at the near end to secure the rope 10 in the groove 313-1 at the corner of the box. In this way, the groove at the corner of the box provides a passage for the rope 10 to pass through.
[0196] exist Figure 14 In the cake box 300, the distal end 320 includes an edge 322 and a pair of corners 322-1. The edge 322 is formed by the rear surface of the cake box 300 and the lid 330. When the rope 10 is unwound from the sheath 20 and the lid 330 is opened, the rope 10 can be moved to be adjacent to the edge 322. When the lid 330 is closed, the rope 10 extends through the pair of slots 322-1. More specifically, the lid 330 has a pair of sidewalls 330-1 that clamp the rope 10 against the sidewall 314 abutting the base when the rope 10 extends through the pair of slots formed at the corners of the distal end. Thus, the rope 10 is secured by the pair of slots 313-1 and 322-1. A portion of the rope 10 remains outside the cake box 300. Figure 15 In this case, rope 10 passes through the pair of slots 313-1 and 322-1 formed at the corners of the box, forming a pair of handles 18 for carrying the cake box 300. Each handle 18 is defined by a loop formed between slots 313-1 and 322-1 of the cake box 300. Note that in the case of the cake box, the two pairs of slots used are not coplanar with each other.
[0197] In an alternative embodiment not shown, the cake box 300 is equipped with a box-carrying device. This device is provided to the box by positioning the proximal sidewall of the box between the extendable portion and the ring. The proximal sidewall of the box also includes a side flap portion located at each of its sides, such that when the side flap portion is folded onto the proximal sidewall, a groove formed by the extendable portion in its initial configuration can be positioned over the proximal sidewall flap and the side flap portion, such that the ring is approximately adjacent to the inner fold line of the proximal sidewall of the box, and once the side flap portion is folded outward away from the proximal sidewall of the box, the ring is secured there by the side flap portion. The side flap portion is then mechanically interlocked with the first and second transverse sidewalls of the box, respectively. The area of the first extendable portion extends from the first proximal lower corner of the box, and the area of the second extendable portion extends from the second proximal lower corner of the box, such that most of the extendable portions are arranged outside the box for easy retrieval or pulling. The extendable portions are then pulled, causing the first and second extendable portions to move to their respective extended configurations. Subsequently, the ring is manually moved to the upper region of the inner surface of the distal sidewall of the box, such that the region of the extended first extendable portion is positioned on the outside of the box, near the first transverse sidewall, and the region of the extended second extendable portion is positioned on the outside of the box, near the second transverse sidewall. The lid of the cake box is then closed to secure the box with the ring of the handling device near or adjacent to the fold line between the lower surface of the lid and the distal sidewall of the box, the lid being attached to the distal sidewall. The arranged first extendable portion forms a first handle, and the arranged second extendable portion forms a second handle. The lid also includes a lid-side flap, wherein the distal edge of the flap of each lid prevents the central portion from shifting back to the proximal sidewall when the cake box is closed.
[0198] Rope 10 can come in various lengths depending on its application. For example, in the case of a pizza box, the length of rope 10 may be approximately 4 to 8 times the side length of the box. In the case of a standard box, rope 10 may be only 2 to 4 times the length of the box. The length of rope 10 is typically several times the length of the edge between the pair of slots from which it extends.
[0199] Figures 16 to 18 Another embodiment of the box handling device 500 is shown. The box handling device 500 includes a central portion 501, a positioning portion 513, a first extendable portion 524, and a second extendable portion 525.
[0200] The central portion 501 includes a handle 526, which in this embodiment is typically widened and includes a first end 503 and a second end 504. The widened handle makes it easier to carry because the load is distributed on the hand or fingers.
[0201] The first extendable portion 524 includes a plurality of rope segments. The rope 502 includes a first rope segment 505 and a second rope segment 509. The first rope segment 505 extends from a first end 503 of the central portion 501 and is configured to define a first loop portion 506. The first rope segment 505 is held in the loop configuration by a first fragile portion 507. The first fragile portion connects an end 508 of the first rope segment 505 to a portion of the handle 526 near the first end 503, and the first fragile portion 507 is adapted to break upon application of sufficient breaking force. The second rope segment 509 extends from the end 508 of the first rope segment and is configured in a meandering shape. In the meandering configuration, the second rope segment 509, together with the first rope segment 506, defines a second loop portion 510 such that the second loop portion 510 is substantially adjacent to the first loop portion 506. The second rope segment 509 is held in the meandering configuration by a second fragile portion 511. The second fragile portion 511 connects a portion of the second rope segment 509 to a portion of the first rope segment 506, and the second fragile portion 511 is adapted to break when sufficient breaking force is applied.
[0202] The positioning portion 513 extends from the end 512 of the second rope segment 509. In this embodiment, the positioning portion 513 is straight in use, wherein at least a portion of the positioning segment 513, together with the second rope segment 509, defines a third annular portion 514. The positioning portion is adapted to be attached to an object such that the box handling device 500 is secured to the object.
[0203] The advantage of having a straight positioning section is that if the object is folded, it can be positioned along the fold line of the object. For example, if the object is a box.
[0204] The second extendable portion 525 includes a third rope segment 515 and a fourth rope segment 519. The third rope segment 515 extends from the end 516 of the positioning segment 513 and is configured in a meandering shape. In the meandering configuration, the third rope segment 515, together with at least a portion of the positioning segment 513, defines a fourth annular portion 517. The third rope segment 515 is held in the meandering configuration by a third fragile portion 518. The fourth rope segment 519 extends from the end 520 of the third rope segment 515 such that the third rope segment 515 and the fourth rope segment 519 define a fifth annular portion 521. The third fragile portion 518 connects a portion of the third rope segment 515 to the end of the fourth rope segment 519 and is adapted to break upon application of a sufficient breaking force. The fourth rope segment 519 is configured to define a sixth annular portion 522 adjacent to the fifth annular portion 521. The fourth rope segment 519 is connected to the second end 504 of the central portion 501 and is held in a loop configuration by the fourth fragile portion 523, which connects the end of the fourth rope segment 519 to the area near the second end 504 of the central portion 501.

[0287] The box handling device 800 also includes a bridging member 866, which is substantially planar in shape and includes multiple fragile parts 867. The bridging member spans a series of strip segments 805, 807, 811, 815, 819, 823, 827, 831, 835, 839, 843, 847, 851, 855, 859, and 863, which are orthogonal to the elongated central segment 801. An adhesive connects each strip segment 805, 807, 811, 815, 819, 823, 827, 831, 835, 839, 843, 847, 851, 855, 859, and 863 to the bridging member 866.
[0288] In an alternative embodiment, two or more, but not all, strip segments 805, 807, 811, 815, 819, 823, 827, 831, 835, 839, 843, 847, 851, 855, 859, and 863 are adhered to bridging member 866. This can reduce manufacturing time and / or cost, as well as the volume of adhesive used.
[0289] In these embodiments, the adhesive locations between the bridging member 866 and each strip segment 805, 807, 811, 815, 819, 823, 827, 831, 835, 839, 843, 847, 851, 855, 859, 863 provide multiple fragile portions that, when sufficient force is applied to the central portion 801, either the adhesive breaks or tears from the respective strip segment or from the bridging member.
[0290] In a further embodiment, the bridging member includes a plurality of bridging portions 867 that connect the bridging member to adhesive locations between the strip segments 805, 807, 811, 815, 819, 823, 827, 831, 835, 839, 843, 847, 851, 855, 859, and 863. In this embodiment, fragile portions are provided by the bridging portions 867, which break when sufficient force is applied to the central portion 801.
[0291] In a preferred embodiment, the strip segments 805, 807, 811, 815, 819, 823, 827, 831, 835, 839, 843, 847, 851, 855, 859, and 863, orthogonal to the elongated central segment, are of the same length, except for the first strip segment 805 and the thirty-first strip segment 863. Furthermore, the strip segments 806, 809, 813, 817, 821, 825, 829, 833, 837, 841, 845, 849, 853, 857, and 861, parallel to the elongated central segment 801, are also preferably of the same length.
[0292] In an alternative embodiment, the extendable portion 802 may have any number of strip segments to make the conveying device suitable for objects of a specific size and to employ the same functional configuration.
[0293] Advantageously, the entire handling unit 800 can be made from a single material, such as paper, cardboard, or plastic strips. Plastic strips are a good choice because they are easy to injection mold, 3D print, or extrude, and therefore can be produced inexpensively.
[0294] In an alternative embodiment, the conveying device 800 is made of paper. In this embodiment, all components of the conveying device, except for the bridging members, are made of flattened rolled or folded paper. For example, the paper may be folded two to six times to form a multi-layered structure, providing sufficient strength for the conveying device. In one version of this embodiment, adhesive is applied between each layer of paper; in other versions, adhesive is applied only to one layer. When components are made of flattened rolled paper, adhesive may be applied only to the outermost folded portion to reduce the amount of adhesive required.
[0295] Advantageously, using folded or rolled folded paper makes it easy to create fold lines for the folded strip segments 806, 809, 813, 817, 821, 825, 829, 833, 837, 841, 845, 849, 853, 857, 861, because the paper is easy to fold. Furthermore, in other embodiments, the rolled folded paper is cardboard.
[0296] Advantageously, the handling device 800, made of folded paper, rolled folded paper, or cardboard, is recyclable, including the fact that it does not need to be separated from the cardboard box.
[0297] Advantageously, the extendable portion 802 saves space in its initial configuration.
[0298] A method for forming a handle extending from a pair of slots at opposite corners of a box is disclosed. A rope 10 is positioned at the proximal end of the box such that a portion of the rope extends from the pair of proximal slots, forming a loop around the proximal end at a pair of corners of the box. This loop forms the handle of the box. The method also includes the step of pulling the rope out of the proximal slots through the loop to extend the loop. In this way, the rope supports the box below the edge between the two proximal slots, thereby distributing the weight of the box below that edge. However, in the case of a cake box, the weight of the box is borne by the side walls.
[0299] The above method is suitable for moving smaller or lighter boxes, such as jewelry boxes, which do not need to be kept level during transport. The method can be used alone with rope 10 or in conjunction with sheath 20, which is used to accommodate the portion of the rope arranged inside the box.
[0300] The method described above may further include positioning the loop portion 14 of the rope 10 at its distal end, such that when the lid of the box is moved to the closed position, as... Figures 8 to 11 Referring to a pizza box (by way of example only), a rope 10 extends from a pair of distal slots 222-1 at the distal end 220 of the box to form a pair of handles 18. Thus, one handle consists of a rope 10 extending from the distal slot 222-1 and the opposing proximal slot 213-1. The other handle 18 consists of a rope 10 extending from another proximal slot 213-1 and another opposing distal slot 222-1. Furthermore, the weight of the box is supported by the portion of the rope 10 remaining inside the box. This portion of the rope 10 passing inside the box runs along the edges 213, 222 between the proximal slot 213-1 and the distal slot 222-1. The distal edge 222 can be referred to as the hinge fold of the box lid.
[0301] The above method can be applied to the distal end of the box using the second rope 10 or the box-carrying device 100. This is in Figure 6 and 7 The most clearly shown is a second handle extending from a second pair of slots opposite the first pair of slots. A second rope 10 or box-carrying device 100 is positioned at the distal end such that a portion of the second rope 10 or box-carrying device 100 extends from the distal end slots to form a second loop around the distal end. This second loop forms the second handle. The second loop can be extended by pulling the rope from the distal end slots. The length of the rope 10 is similar for each end of the box.
[0302] Figures 8 to 15The document also discloses a method for forming the pair of handles 18 using a box handling device 100. The method includes: providing a box handling device 100 having the features described above; positioning a sheath 20 inside or outside the box; and positioning a ring 14 outside the box to extend through a channel provided by the pair of slots 213-1, such that the ring 14 extends between the slots at a corner. The sheath is positioned at the proximal end inside the box. The method further includes elongating the ring 14 and positioning it at a distal end opposite the proximal end of the box. As described above, the elongated ring is positioned at or along the hinge fold or edge of the box, integrating it with the box.
[0303] In an alternative embodiment (not shown) of the above method, a conveying device is used to form a material for... Figure 8-11 The method for attaching a pair of handles to a pizza box involves positioning a sleeve and a ring on the lower surface of a side wall flap. The side wall flap is then folded over a pair of side flaps extending from the corresponding transverse side walls of the box, such that the pair of side flaps are sandwiched between the side wall flaps and the proximal side walls, with the sleeve and ring facing the internal volume of the box.
[0304] The method further includes pulling the ring to extend the coiled portion through the proximal bottom apex of the box, and manually moving the ring to the upper region of the inner surface of the distal sidewall of the box, such that a first region of the extended ring is positioned on the outside of the box, near the first transverse sidewall, and a second region of the extended ring is positioned on the outside of the box, near the second transverse sidewall. The lid of the box is then closed to secure the ring of the box by the handling device near or adjacent to the fold line between the lower surface of the lid and the distal sidewall of the box, the lid being attached to the distal sidewall of the box. The first region of the extended ring extends through a first groove defined at the corner of the first transverse sidewall, the lid, and the distal sidewall, forming a first handle; the second region of the extended ring extends through a second groove defined at the corner of the second transverse sidewall, the lid, and the distal sidewall, forming a second handle. The lid also includes a flap-top cover, wherein the distal edge of the flap-top cover of each lid prevents the ring from moving back to the proximal sidewall when the pizza box is closed.
[0305] Another method for forming a pair of handles 18 for a box is also disclosed. This method involves providing two box-carrying devices 100 having the aforementioned features. A first box-carrying device 100 is positioned at the proximal end of the box, and a second box-carrying device 100 is positioned at the distal end of the box. Each loop 14 of the first and second box-carrying devices 100 is moved from a stored state to an unfolded state by moving or pulling out a rope 10 passing through a groove, to provide a pair of handles 18 for the box extending from the corner groove, such that the box is supported by its edges 213, 222, where the rope 10 engages with the box.
[0306] Although methods for forming handles for pizza boxes 200 and cake boxes 300 have been described with reference to the use of a single box handling device 100 or a single rope 10, it is conceivable that handles can also be formed using two box handling devices 100 or two ropes 10. In this variation, the box handling device 100 or rope 10 is positioned at opposite ends of the box in the same manner as described above. The rope 10 passes through relevant grooves to form handles at the corners of the boxes.
[0307] Figure 17-18 This illustrates a method for forming handles for a four-flap case 5000. A pair of handles are provided for the case 5000. Figure 16 The box handling devices 500 shown are a near-end handling device 500 and a far-end handling device 500'. For simplicity, the near-end handling device is marked as 500, and its component markings do not include apostrophes. The far-end box handling device is marked as 500', and its component markings include apostrophes.
[0308] The near-end handling device 500 is provided to the box 5000 by positioning a positioning portion 513 on the inner surface of the near-end sidewall flap 5001 of the box 5000, approximately adjacent to and parallel to the fold line between the near-end sidewall of the box and the near-end sidewall flap 5001. A first extendable portion 524 is located on the box 5000 and extends through the first near-end upper corner 5002 of the box, and a second extendable portion 525 is located on the box 5000 and extends through the second near-end upper corner 5003 of the box, such that the central portion 501 is arranged on the outside of the box, and the handle 526 is easily retrieved or pulled.
[0309] The remote handling device 500' is provided to the box 5000 by positioning a positioning portion 513' on the inner surface of the box's distal sidewall flap 5004, approximately adjacent to and parallel to the fold line between the box's distal sidewall and the distal sidewall flap 5004. A first extendable portion 524' is located on the box 5000, extending through the box's first distal upper corner 5005, and a second extendable portion 525' is located on the box 5000, extending through the box's second distal upper corner 5006, such that the central portion 501' is positioned on the outside of the box, and the handle 526' is easily retrievable or pulled.
[0310] Then the proximal sidewall flap 5001 and the distal sidewall flap 5004 are closed. Subsequently, the first lateral sidewall flap 5007 and the second lateral sidewall flap 5008 of the box are closed, such that each lateral sidewall flap 5007, 5008 is located on at least a portion of the proximal sidewall flap 5001 and the distal sidewall flap 5004.
[0311] Then, pulling handle 526 causes the fragile parts 507, 511, 518, and 523 to break, and moves the first extendable part 524 and the second extendable part 525 to their respective extension configurations, thereby forming the first handle 5009. Similarly, pulling handle 526' causes the fragile parts 507', 511', 518', and 523' to break, and moves the first extendable part 524' and the second extendable part 525' to their respective extension configurations, thereby forming the second handle 5010.
[0312] In a further embodiment, one side of the handle includes an adhesive material or adhesive, allowing it to be temporarily or permanently attached to the outer surface of the box sidewall by removing the adhesive protective strip.
[0313] Figure 20-21 This illustrates a method for forming a handle for a cake box 6000. In this method, a... Figure 19 The box handling device 600 shown is shown.
[0314] The case handling device 600 provides the case 6000 with the case 6000 by positioning the proximal sidewall 6001 between the extendable portions 638, 639 and the positioning portion 618. The proximal sidewall of the case also includes a side flap portion located at each of its ends, such that when the side flap portion is folded onto the proximal sidewall, a groove formed by the extendable portions 638, 639 and the central portion 601 in their initial configuration can be positioned over the proximal sidewall flap and the side flap portion, such that the positioning portion 618 is approximately adjacent to the inner fold line of the proximal sidewall 6001 of the case, and once the side flap portion is folded outward away from the proximal sidewall 6001 of the case, the positioning portion 618 is secured there by the side flap portion. The side flap portion is then mechanically interlocked with the first transverse sidewall 6005 and the second transverse sidewall 6006 of the case, respectively.
[0315] The area of the first extendable portion 638 extends from the first proximal lower corner 6002 of the box 6000, and the area of the second extendable portion 639 extends from the second proximal lower corner 6003 of the box, such that multiple rope segments 604, 607, 610, 614, 622, 640, 628, 632 and the central portion 601 are arranged on the outside of the box, and the central portion is easy to retrieve or pull.
[0316] Then, the central portion 601 is pulled to break the fragile portions 609, 613, 617, 627, 631, 641, 636, and 637, and the first extendable portion 638 and the second extendable portion 639 are moved to their respective extension configurations. Subsequently, the central portion is manually moved to the upper region of the inner surface of the distal sidewall 6004 of the box, such that the region of the extended first extendable portion 638 is positioned on the outside of the box, near the first transverse sidewall 6005, and the region of the extended second extendable portion 639 is positioned on the outside of the box, near the second transverse sidewall 6006.
[0317] The lid 6007 of the box 6000 is then closed to secure the central portion 601 of the box handling device 600 near or adjacent to the fold line between the lower surface of the lid 6007 and the distal sidewall 6004, which is connected to the distal sidewall 6004. A first extendable portion (not shown) is arranged to form a first handle, and a second extendable portion 639 is arranged to form a second handle. The lid also includes a lid flap 6008, wherein the distal edge 6009 of the flap 6008 of each lid prevents the central portion 601 from moving back to the proximal sidewall when the cake box is closed.
[0318] When the handle is carried in use, the positioning part supports the proximal side of the case 6000, while the central part 601, fixed below the lid 6007, supports the distal side of the case 6000. This allows the case 6000 to be carried with one hand.
[0319] Figure 23-24 The method for forming the handle for the box 7000 is shown. In this method, the following is used: Figure 22 The box handling device 700 shown is shown.
[0320] The box handling device 700 is provided to the box 7000 by positioning the side wall flap 7001 of the box 7000 between the first extendable portion 788, the second extendable portion 789, and the central portion 703, such that the first and second extendable portions are positioned in their respective initial configurations adjacent to the inner proximal side wall 7002 of the box, and the central portion 703 is arranged on the outside of the box 7000. The positioning portion 748 of the box handling device 700 is then secured to the inner proximal side wall 7002 of the box; to enhance this securing, the side wall of the box can be pressed against the forks of the positioning portion. The side wall flap 7001 is then folded over the first extendable portion 788, the second extendable portion 789, and the positioning portion 748, such that multiple rope segments of the first and second extendable portions, as well as the positioning portion, are clamped between the proximal side wall 7002 and the side wall flap 7001. To enhance the fixation of the positioning part 748 to the corresponding fold lines between the proximal sidewall and the sidewall flap, and between the proximal sidewall and the base, the fold lines can be pressed against the corresponding top and bottom forks of the positioning part 748.
[0321] Then, the central portion 703 is manually pulled to break the multiple fragile parts, and each of the first and second extendable portions is moved from the initial configuration to the extended configuration. The central portion is manually moved to the inner surface of the distal sidewall 7003 of the box, such that the area of the extended first extendable portion 788 is arranged on the outside of the box, near the first transverse sidewall 7004 of the box, and the area of the extended second extendable portion 789 is arranged on the outside of the box, near the second transverse sidewall 7005 of the box.
[0322] Then the lid 7006 of the box 7000 is closed to secure the central portion 703 of the box handling device 700 near or adjacent to the fold line between the lower surface of the lid 7006 and the distal sidewall 7003, which is connected to the distal sidewall 7003 of the box. This is achieved by extending a region of the first extendable portion 788 through a first groove defined at the corner of the first transverse sidewall, lid, and distal sidewall to form a first handle, and extending a region of the second extendable portion 789 through a second groove defined at the corner of the second transverse sidewall, lid, and distal sidewall to form a second handle. The lid also includes a lid-side flap 7008, wherein the distal edge 7009 of each lid-side flap 7008 prevents the central portion 703 from moving back to the proximal sidewall when the pizza box is closed.
[0323] When the handle is carried in use, the positioning portion supports the proximal side of the case 7000, while the central portion 703, fixed by the cover 7006, supports the distal side of the case 7000. In another embodiment, when the positioning portion is not fixed to the proximal sidewall 7001 of the case and the handle is carried, the positioning portion remaining between the proximal sidewall 7002 and the sidewall flap 7001 may move upward and be fixed by the folding portion of the proximal sidewall 7002 and the sidewall flap 7001, thereby supporting the proximal side of the case 7000.
[0324] Figure 26 The method for forming a handle for a box 8000 is shown. In this method, a method is used... Figure 25 The box handling device 800 shown is shown.
[0325] The box handling device 800 is provided to the box 8000 by positioning the side wall flap 8001 of the box 8000 between the extendable portion 802 and the elongated central section 801, such that the extendable portion is positioned in its initial configuration adjacent to the inner proximal side wall 8002 of the box, and the elongated central section 801 is arranged on the outside of the box 8000. The side wall flap 8001 of the box is then folded over the extendable portion 802, such that multiple strip segments of the extendable portion 802 are sandwiched between the proximal side wall 8002 and the side wall flap 8001.
[0326] In an alternative embodiment, one or more of the multiple strip segments may be adhered to the proximal sidewall. This provides the advantage that the extendable portions can be pulled out one at a time without extending them unequally.
[0327] Then, the elongated central section 801 is pulled to break the multiple fragile parts, and each strip segment of the extendable portion is moved from the initial configuration to the extended configuration. The elongated central section 801 is manually moved to the inner surface of the distal sidewall 8003 of the box, such that regions 870 and 880 of the extended extendable portions 802 located on both sides of the elongated central section are arranged on the outside of the box, near the first transverse sidewall 8004 and the second transverse sidewall 8005 of the box, respectively.
[0328] Then the lid 8006 of the box 8000 is closed to secure the elongated central section 803 of the box handling device 800 near or adjacent to a portion of the lower surface of the lid 8006 connected to the distal sidewall 8003 of the box, such that region 870 of the extendable portion 802 extends through a first groove defined at the corner of the first transverse sidewall, the lid, and the distal sidewall to form a first handle of the box, and region 880 of the extendable portion 802 extends through a second groove defined at the corner of the second transverse sidewall, the lid, and the distal sidewall to form a first handle and a second handle of the box. The lid also includes a lid flap 8008, wherein the distal edge 8009 of the flap 8008 of each lid prevents the central portion 801 from moving back to the proximal sidewall when the pizza box is closed.
[0329] When the handle is carried in use, the portion of the carrying device that remains between the proximal sidewall 8002 and the sidewall flap 8001 may move upward and be secured by the folds of the proximal sidewall 8002 and the sidewall flap 8001, thereby supporting the proximal side of the box, while the elongated central section 801 fixed below the cover 8006 supports the distal side of the box 8000.
[0330] The advantages are described below.
[0331] The sheath 20 of the box handling device 100 neatly houses the rope 10 for use. Without the sheath 20, the rope 10 would be loosely placed inside the box, potentially contaminating food, snagging on the contents of the box, or becoming entangled with itself, external objects, or machinery.
[0332] In the case of pizza boxes or cake boxes, the box handling devices 100, 600, 700 and 800 allow users to move one or more boxes using only one box handling device 100, depending on the length of the handle, by stacking subsequent boxes on top of each other.
[0333] During use, rope 10 is secured in place by the edge of the box, which is the strongest part of the box, meaning that the box is unlikely to tear.
[0334] In other embodiments shown in 600, 700, and 800, the area of the extendable portion is positioned through a corresponding slot defined at the corresponding corner of the pizza box or cake box, which allows the box to be transported using the box handling device 600, 700, and 800 without opening the lid during use.
[0335] The box handling devices 100, 500, 600, 700 and 800 can be installed by low-skilled personnel or customers when picking up boxes.
[0336] Box handling devices 100, 500, 600, 700 and 800 can replace plastic bags as handling devices for boxes.
[0337] Box handling devices 100, 500, 600, and 700 can be made from coconut shells, paper, or hemp, which enhances the value of cardboard during recycling, thus eliminating the need to separate the handles from the cardboard boxes for recycling. The designs of box handling devices 100, 500, 600, 700, and 800 take recyclability and the circular economy into account. It is also conceivable that box handling devices 100, 500, 600, and 700 can be made from plastics, recycled plastics, or other suitable materials.
[0338] As shown and described, the sidewalls forming the corners of the box define grooves through which ropes can pass. The sidewalls and / or edges provide rigidity to the box and also provide a sturdy area for ropes to pass through, allowing the use of ropes 10 or box handling devices 100, 500, 600, 700, and 800 to move heavier boxes.
