A sliding member provided between a housing (4) and a shaft (1) inserted through the housing (4) and provided with sliding surfaces (11, 21) that partition a sealed fluid space (S1) and a leakage space (S2), one sliding surface (11) being provided with: a dynamic pressure generation groove (13) that communicates with the sealed fluid space (S1); a storage groove (12) which is disposed closer to the leakage space (S2) than the dynamic pressure generation groove (13) and which extends in the circumferential direction; a first negative pressure generation tank (14) that is disposed closer to the leakage space (S2) than the storage tank (12) and does not communicate with the storage tank (12); and a second negative pressure generation tank (15) that is disposed closer to the leakage space (S2) than the storage tank (12) and that communicates with the storage tank (12).
