[0014] The plug connector of the utility model improves the existing connector, optimizes the stress condition of the contact arm root of the contact piece, and increases the service life of the connector. With respect to the existing connector, the applicant has found through experimental research and analysis that in engineering practice, after the contact piece of the existing connector is inserted into the terminal slot, its fixed arm is clamped and fixed with the groove wall of the retaining groove through the convex part thereon, and the root of the side of the contact arm facing the fixed arm often fits with the groove wall of the corresponding receiving groove, so that the contact arm and the fixed arm cooperate with each other and are fixed together with the main body material between the retaining groove and the receiving groove, so that it can be reliably inserted into the terminal slot. However, in such a structure, the portion of the contact arm that is separated from the groove wall of the accommodating groove forms an effective overhang section that can be elastically deformed, and the length of the effective overhang section is not the length of the entire contact arm. That is to say, such a structure leads to a shortening of the length of the effective overhang section of the contact arm. When the plug connector is plugged into the matching socket connector, the contact arm will be subjected to lateral pressure from the socket contact piece toward the side of the fixed arm. In this way, the edge position of the contact arm that fits with the groove wall of the accommodating groove will be subjected to greater stress. Continuous force will easily cause deformation or even breakage at this position, resulting in a shorter service life of the plug connector.
[0015] After studying and discovering the root cause of the above problems, in the connector of the present invention, the edge of the side of the contact arm of the contact piece that is opposite to the contact portion, from the root of the contact arm to the cantilevered end, has a deformation gap with the accommodating groove for the contact arm to undergo elastic deformation when abutting against the matching contact piece. In other words, the entire contact arm can constitute an effective cantilevered end, which can provide better elastic deformation capability when plugged into the matching contact piece, is less likely to break, and improves the service life of the connector.

[0017] Furthermore, the length of the contact arm is greater than the length of the fixed arm, and the contact portion is located at a position of the contact arm close to the overhanging end.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0043] The features and performance of the present invention are further described in detail below in conjunction with the embodiments.
[0044] The connector assembly of the utility model is mainly aimed at the problem that the root of the contact arm of the contact piece of the plug connector in the connector assembly of the prior art is often prone to breakage, resulting in a short service life of the plug connector. Experimental analysis of the existing plug connector found that after the contact piece of the existing connector is inserted into the terminal slot, its fixed arm is clamped and fixed with the groove wall of the retaining groove through the convex part thereon, and the root of the side of the contact arm facing the fixed arm is often in contact with the groove wall of the corresponding receiving groove, which shortens the length of the effective overhang section of the contact arm. When the plug connector is plugged into the adapter socket connector, the contact arm will be subjected to the lateral pressure applied to the side of the fixed arm by the socket contact piece, so that the edge position of the contact arm that is in contact with the groove wall of the receiving groove will be subjected to greater stress, and continuous force will easily cause deformation or even breakage at this position, resulting in a short service life of the plug connector.
[0045] To address such problems, in the plug connector of the present invention, the root of the contact arm of the contact piece is separated from the groove wall of the corresponding accommodating groove through structural design, and a gap between the two is formed to provide a deformation gap for the lateral elastic deformation of the plug contact piece when the plug contact piece and the contact piece of the socket connector are plugged in and pressed sideways. In this way, the plug contact piece is elastically deformed as a whole starting from the root position when plugged in and pressed sideways, and the entire contact arm acts as an elastic cantilever with a longer effective cantilever length and a stronger deformation ability. This can reduce the stress at the root, making it less likely that the root of the contact arm will break.
[0046] Specifically, different embodiments are used to illustrate the present invention.
[0047] The connector assembly of the utility model is as follows Figure 1As shown, the plug connector 1 and the socket connector 2 are both on-board connectors, which have a mounting end fixed on a circuit board and a plugging end for plugging. The plug connector 1 includes a plug body 10 and a plug contact 11 installed in the plug body 10. The plug body 10 is in a long strip shape and is provided with rows of contact mounting grooves for the plug contact 11 to be installed in the plug body 10. The plug contact 11 includes a horizontal base 110 and a fixed arm 112 and a contact arm 111 extending from the horizontal base 110. The plug body 10 has a retaining groove and a receiving groove 100 for the fixed arm 112 and the contact arm 111 to be inserted respectively. The fixed arm 112 and the contact arm 111 extend in the same direction and are substantially perpendicular to the horizontal base 110. The end of the horizontal base 110 has a welding portion 114 for welding and connecting with the circuit board. The fixed arm 112 is inserted into the retaining groove and is strongly matched with the retaining groove to realize the fixed installation of the plug contact 11 in the plug body 10. The contact arm 111 extends into the accommodating groove 100. The accommodating groove 100 is an open structure 202 on one side (the side facing away from the fixed arm 112). The contact portion of the contact arm 111 for contacting the socket contact is exposed from the open side 202 of the accommodating groove 100. When the plug connector 1 and the socket connector 2 are plugged into each other, the contact arm 111 and the socket contact of the socket connector 2 are elastically pressed against each other in the lateral direction.
[0048] The key point is that the edge of one side of the contact arm 111 facing away from the contact part has a deformation gap 101 between the contact arm 111 and the accommodation groove 100 from the root to the overhanging end, which allows the contact arm 111 to elastically deform when it abuts against the matching contact. In this way, after the plug connector 1 and the socket connector 2 are plugged in, the plug contact 11 can be deformed as a whole from the root of the contact arm 111, with a larger deformation length, less stress at the root, and less prone to breakage, which improves the life of the plug connector 1 as a whole.
[0049] Compared with the prior art, the root of the contact arm 111 of this structure no longer contacts the wall of the receiving groove 100, which means that the entire plug contact 11 is mainly fixed to the plug body 10 by the fixing arm 112. In order to improve the fixing effect between the plug contact 11 and the plug body 10, as shown in FIG. Figure 3-5 In a preferred embodiment, the protrusion on the fixed arm 112 for forcibly fitting with the groove wall of the holding groove is a barb structure 115, so that after the fixed arm 112 is inserted into the holding groove, it can penetrate into the groove wall through the barb structure 115 and is not easy to withdraw. In addition, on this basis, if Figure 3-5In a preferred embodiment, an anchoring recess 116 is provided on the fixed arm 112 at the rear side of the barb structure 115, which is recessed inward from the side edge of the fixed arm 112. By providing the anchoring recess 116, the groove wall material at the rear side of the barb structure 115 can enter the anchoring recess 116, so that an anchoring point is formed between the barb structure 115 and the groove wall at this position, so that the fixing effect between the fixed arm 112 and the fixing groove is better.
[0050] exist Figure 2 and Figure 5 In the illustrated embodiment, the length of the contact arm 111 is greater than that of the fixed arm 112, and the contact portion is located near the overhanging end of the contact arm 111, so that the contact arm 111 can have a larger overhanging length and better elastic deformation capability, while the fixed arm 112 is set shorter, which can reduce the depth of the retaining groove, thereby improving the structural strength of the plug body 10. Of course, in order to enhance the retaining effect of the fixed arm 112 and the plug body 10, the length of the fixed arm 112 can be the same as that of the contact arm 111, or greater than that of the contact arm 111.
[0051] The barb structure 115 and the anchoring recess 116 may be disposed on a side edge of the fixed arm 112 close to the contact arm 111, or may be disposed on a side edge away from the contact arm 111. Figure 4-5 The embodiment in which the barb structure 115 and the anchoring recess 116 are located at one side edge of the fixed arm 112 close to the contact arm 111 is shown. Moreover, the number of the barb structure 115 and the anchoring recess 116 can also be changed, and these different numbers of variations will fall within the protection scope of the utility model.
[0052] Figure 6The cross-sectional structure of the socket connector 2 is shown. The socket connector 2 includes a long socket body 20. The middle part of the socket body 20 has a concave cavity to form an insertion cavity for the plug connector 1 to be inserted. The socket body 20 is provided with rows of socket contact mounting grooves along the length direction, and the socket contacts are inserted into the mounting grooves. Similar to the prior art, the socket contact includes a fixed base 210 and a cantilever arm 211 and a clamping arm 212 extending from the fixed base 210. The end of the fixed base 210 is a welding end 214 for welding with a circuit board. The cantilever arm 211 and the clamping arm 212 extend in the same direction. The socket contact mounting groove includes a cantilever arm mounting groove 200 and a clamping groove. The cantilever arm 211 is forcibly installed in the cantilever arm mounting groove 200, and the clamping arm 212 is inserted into the clamping groove. The cantilever arm mounting groove 200 is open at one side of the socket contact near the cantilever end 202, so that the root of the cantilever arm 211 is forcibly installed in the cantilever arm mounting groove 200, and the contact portion of the end that presses against the plug contact 11 is exposed at the opening 202. The cantilever arm 211 is a straight arm body as a whole, and is in contact with the groove wall of the cantilever arm mounting groove 200 on the side facing away from the plug contact 11. When the socket connector 2 is plugged into the plug connector 1, the cantilever arm 211 is fixed relative to the socket body 20, and the contact arm 111 is deformed by lateral pressure relative to the plug body 10.
[0053] Furthermore, in one embodiment, if Figure 6 As shown, the root of the cantilever arm 211 has a barb structure 115 that is locked with the groove wall of the mounting groove. Such a structure is the same as the principle of the forced installation between the fixed arm 112 of the plug contact 11 and the plug body 10 described above. In a preferred embodiment, the cantilever arm 211 has an anchoring recess 116 that is recessed inward from the side edge of the fixed arm 112 on the rear side of the barb structure 115, so that the groove wall material of the retaining groove can be embedded and anchored.
[0054] like Figure 6 The fixed arm 212 is clamped in the clamping groove of the socket body 20. In the width direction of the socket body 20, the fixed arm 212 is located on the inner side of the cantilever arm 211, and the length of the fixed arm 212 is less than the length of the cantilever arm 211, so that space can be reserved for the plug-in cavity, and the overall height of the socket connector 2 is relatively small.
[0055] The plug connector 1 and the socket connector 2 can be fixed to the circuit board in the same manner as in the prior art. This embodiment provides a more reliable fixing method, which mainly relies on the fixing soldering pieces at both ends of the connector, the fixing soldering pieces are fixedly installed with the connector body (plug body 10 or socket body 20), and then fixed with the soldering pads on the circuit board by welding.
[0056] When soldering is used for welding, the solder paste tends to creep along the surface of the welded parts. This embodiment utilizes this rule to change the structure of the fixed soldering piece, thereby increasing the soldering area of the fixed soldering piece without increasing the installation area occupied by the fixed soldering piece on the circuit board, thereby improving the reliability of the welding. Specifically, Figure 7-10 As shown, the fixing welding piece 3 is similar to the existing fixing welding piece as a whole, including a shell connecting section 30 and a welding connecting section 31. The shell connecting section 30 is also used for fixing and connecting with the connector shell, such as forcing, and the welding connecting section 31 is also used for welding and connecting with the pad 90 on the circuit board 9. The sheet corresponding to the shell connecting section 30 extends in one direction. Since it is mostly extended in the up and down directions when in use, the shell connecting section 30 is defined to extend vertically. The lower end of the shell connecting section 30 has a portion that bends and extends toward one side of the sheet, which is the welding connecting section 31. The shell connecting section 30 is provided with a clamping protrusion 301 on both sides of the width direction thereof. The shell connecting section 30 is used to be forcing and inserting into the insertion hole on the connector shell, so as to realize the fixed installation of the fixing welding piece 3 on the connector shell. The welding connecting section 31 is used to be placed flat on the pad 90 on the circuit board 9 when in use, so as to be soldered with the pad 90.
[0057] The fixed soldering piece 3 in this embodiment is different from the fixed soldering piece 3 in the prior art in that a vertically extending tin-climbing reinforcement section 32 is bent at a part of the edge or the entire edge of the welding connection section 31, and the extension direction of the tin-climbing reinforcement section 32 is substantially the same as the extension direction of the shell connection section 30, and is located on the same side of the welding connection section 31 as the shell connection section 30. As the name implies, the tin-climbing reinforcement section 32 is used to facilitate tin-climbing during welding, and by allowing the solder to climb to this section, the combined welding area of the solder and the entire fixed soldering piece 3 can be increased, thereby improving the welding reliability of the fixed soldering piece 3.
[0058] like Figure 7-10 As shown, in one embodiment, the fixed soldering piece 3 is forcibly installed at both ends of the connector and is used to be soldered to the soldering pad 90 on the circuit board 9. The fixed soldering pieces 3 at the left and right ends adopt a common mode design, which not only reduces the cost, but also ensures the symmetry of the product structure, and avoids the asymmetry of the two fixed soldering pieces 3 of the product, which causes uneven force during the connector welding process and causes deflection. A tin creeping reinforcement section 32 is provided on the welding connection section 31 of the fixed soldering piece 3 at the edge position on the side opposite to the shell connection section 30. This position is located outside the end of the connector shell as a whole. The tin creeping reinforcement section 32 is provided at this position without interfering with the connector shell, and there is no need to change the structure of the connector shell. The whole is exposed to the external space, which is conducive to tin creeping. Of course, in other embodiments, the tin creeping reinforcement section 32 can also be provided at the edge position of the welding connection section 31 adjacent to the shell connection section 30.
[0059] The welding connection section 31 is bent and extended perpendicularly to the shell connection section 30, and is used to fit on the soldering pad 90. In order to facilitate the solder paste on the soldering pad 90 to climb to the upper surface of the welding connection section 31 during welding, a notch 34 is provided on the edge of the welding connection section 31 facing away from the shell connection section 30. When the tin climbing reinforcement section 32 is arranged at the edge position of the side opposite to the shell connection section 30, the tin climbing reinforcement section 32 can be arranged on one side of the notch 34, or as Fig.11 As shown, the creeping tin reinforcement sections 32 are arranged on both sides of the notch 34. Of course, when the creeping tin reinforcement sections 32 are arranged on both sides of the notch 34, the welding bonding area of the solder and the fixing welding piece 3 is larger.
[0060] On the basis of the above-mentioned embodiment, in a more preferred embodiment, the creeping tin reinforcement section 32 and the welding connection section 31 are connected by a circular arc transition, that is, there is a circular arc transition section 33 between the two. By setting the circular arc transition section 33, the creeping tin area is further increased, and at the same time, a wetting angle θ between 15° and 45° can be formed between the fixed solder piece 3 and the welding surface on the circuit board 1, thereby improving the wettability of the welding, so that the molten solder can climb to the surface of the fixed solder piece 3 in a uniform and continuous manner. Of course, in other embodiments, it is not excluded that the creeping tin reinforcement section 32 and the welding connection section 31 are connected by an inclined section transition, or directly connected at a right angle.
[0061] The extension height of the tin climbing reinforcement section 32 is lower than the extension height of the shell connecting section 30. In this way, while meeting the tin climbing requirement, the tin climbing reinforcement section 32 will not be too high and occupy a large space. At the same time, the tin climbing reinforcement section 32 and the shell connecting section 30 are at different heights. When there is only one tin climbing reinforcement section 32 and it is arranged opposite to the shell connecting section 30, it is easy to identify. Of course, whichever is higher or the same height as the other falls within the protection scope of the utility model.
[0062] The specific structure of the embodiment of the plug connector 1 of the present invention is the same as the structure of the plug connector 1 in the connector assembly introduced above, and will not be further described herein.
[0063] The above description is only a preferred embodiment of the present invention and is not intended to limit the present invention. The patent protection scope of the present invention shall be based on the claims. All equivalent structural changes made using the description and drawings of the present invention shall be included in the protection scope of the present invention.
