Abstract

Unlike the winged extension commonly used for this application, which are rigid elements, the winged extensions that are the subject of the present invention consist of a new type of winged extension that function as a rigid assembly in their normal operation, but that yield elastically to impacts and overloads, recovering their normal operation afterwards. This flexibility is achieved in two ways, which affect exclusively the winged extension itself, and not its connection to the horizontal arm (spreader) or its possible driving system. Mainly: by using elastic materials and by using geometries that are stable against working loads, but are easily deformed by impacts.
