Description

[0001] The invention relates to a body for a vehicle equipped with an engine arranged in the rear of the vehicle, which comprises body-side inner side parts arranged at a distance from one another in the rear area and an outer rear panel, wherein the inner side parts form a receiving space for the rear engine and this receiving space is closed off by a pivoting rear lid, to which an air guiding device which can be extended and retracted via a setting mechanism is connected, wherein between the two inner body-side side parts of the vehicle rear there is inserted an assembly support which is firmly connected to these and arranged in the transverse direction of the vehicle, to which assembly support pre-assembled components can be attached.

[0002] From the prior art, e.g., from DE 10 2008 036 188 A1, DE 10 2007 028 163 A1, and EP 1 883 571 B1, assembly supports in motor vehicles have already become known. These can be equipped with a plurality of components and then installed in the vehicle as completely pre-assembled modules. Such a procedure simplifies assembly, is comparatively cost-effective, and the assembly support that accommodates the individual components can also stiffen the bodywork in this area.

[0003] DE 40 09 385 A1 discloses a passenger car with an air guiding device arranged in the rear area, which is movable by means of an adjusting device from a retracted rest position into an extended operating position extending at a distance from the body below and - seen in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle - consists of two parts which are connected to one another in an articulated manner, wherein the rear part, seen in the direction of travel, can pivot about a fixed axis of rotation at its free lower end and the other part is displaceably mounted in a guide device arranged on the body side.

[0004] The object of the invention is to further improve such an assembly support, especially in a vehicle equipped with a rear engine, in that it can assume additional functions in addition to the holding function for a large number of components and a stiffening function for the body.

[0005] This task is solved in a vehicle body of the type mentioned at the beginning by providing at least one opening in the mounting support which serves as an air duct to the rear engine.

[0006] This opening can be positioned centrally or offset to the sides as desired, depending on the desired airflow direction. Preferably, two essentially symmetrically arranged air guide openings can be provided in the mounting bracket.

[0007] A particularly effective embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is achieved in that the lateral areas of the air guide openings in the mounting support are designed to guide the flow or in that additional air guide elements are arranged on the lateral areas of the air guide openings in the mounting support.

[0008] To prevent dirt, leaves, and other debris from entering the engine compartment through the air ducts in the mounting bracket, protective grilles can be installed that completely cover them. These grilles can be installed using any type of fastening, either force-fitting or form-fitting. These grilles are preferably made of plastic.

[0009] To effectively fulfill its stiffening and supporting functions, and especially with a view to simplified manufacturing—especially of the air duct opening and its design—the mounting bracket is preferably a light metal casting. However, it is also conceivable to manufacture the mounting bracket as a sheet metal part or as a component made of fiber-reinforced plastic.

[0010] The assembly support is fastened to the vehicle body at the designated locations in a manner known from the state of the art with the components pre-assembled on it.

[0011] Details, further important features and advantages of the subject matter of the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to an embodiment which is shown schematically in the drawing.

[0012] It shows: Fig. 1 a mounting bracket according to the invention and Fig. 2 the mounting bracket Fig. 1 with protective grilles inserted into the air duct opening.

[0013] Regarding the installation of a module-equipped mounting bracket in a rear-engined motor vehicle, reference is made to DE 10 2008 036 188 A1. Therefore, the description of the exemplary embodiment of the invention can be limited exclusively to the mounting bracket as such.

[0014] Fig. Figure 1 shows a mounting bracket 1 constructed as a light metal casting, which is equipped with a plurality of mountings for components. For example, the mounting mechanism for an air guiding device, including the drive mechanism for it, can be arranged on the mounting bracket, as well as additional components. The mounting bracket 1 according to Fig. 1 has two essentially symmetrically arranged air guide openings 2 and 3, through which cooling air, deflected, for example, via the rear-side air guide device, can be directed into the engine compartment for cooling, for example, the intercooler in turbocharged internal combustion engines. These side areas of the air guide openings 2 and 3 are preferably designed to achieve a targeted supply of cooling air to the engine components to be cooled. It is conceivable that additional air guide devices (air deflectors) are attached to the side walls of the air guide openings 2 and 3, respectively (not shown in the drawing).

[0015] Fig. 2 shows the mounting bracket 1 after Fig.1 with the air duct openings 2 and 3, respectively. These are fully covered by protective grilles 4 and 5, respectively, mounted on or inserted into them. These grilles are provided with a grid structure that does not impede the flow of cooling air, but offers protection against the ingress of dirt, leaves, etc. The protective grilles 4 and 5 are preferably made of plastic; they are inserted into the air duct openings 2 and 3, respectively, with a form-fitting or force-fitting fit and secured there. It is also conceivable for them to be placed on the mounting bracket 1, covering the air duct openings, using appropriate holders.
