Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a fastening device for use in the immediate vicinity of hot components, in particular in a motor vehicle, with a nut which has a base plate and a shaft projecting therefrom.

[0002] Such fastening devices are used to screw heat shields to the body of a motor vehicle in areas with hot components, such as the exhaust system, the turbocharger, etc. They are typically made of sheet metal. However, this has the disadvantage that radiant heat is conducted directly to the body and into the heat shield. This can lead to limit violations in the body sheet metal and / or in the PVC coating and paint.

[0003] Furthermore, DE 31 47 654 A1 discloses a heat protection shield or shielding for an electrical machine such as an electric motor or generator, in particular for a starter or the like in motor vehicles, with fastening means for attachment thereto.

[0004] Furthermore, DE 102010 048 956 A1 discloses a device for fastening a component having at least one opening to a support part.

[0005] In addition, DE 197 12 260 C2 discloses a nut having a shaft part, a flange part extending outwardly from a first end of the shaft part and a cap part extending from a second end of the shaft part opposite the first end.

[0006] To remedy this, plastic mounting devices have been used for this purpose. Although this reduces heat conduction due to the insulating effect of the plastic, it has proven insufficient in practice.

[0007] It is therefore an object of the present invention to further develop a fastening device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that sufficient thermal insulation can be ensured.

[0008] This object is achieved according to the invention in a fastening device for use in the immediate vicinity of hot components, in particular in a motor vehicle, with a nut which has a base plate and a shaft projecting therefrom, in that the shaft is provided with a heat protection cap on the side facing away from the body sheet.

[0009] As a result of the design according to the invention, the heat protection hat minimizes direct heat conduction to such an extent that local overheating can be avoided.

[0010] In order to screw the fastening device to a body-mounted bolt, a hole with an internal thread is arranged in the shaft, which passes through the base plate.

[0011] The subclaims contain advantageous developments and refinements of the invention.

[0012] According to a preferred embodiment, the heat protection cap and / or the base plate are designed as a substantially flat circular disc. This facilitates the manufacture of the fastening device according to the invention.

[0013] The thermal protection cap is preferably made of plastic. Alternatively, a thermal protection cap made of metal is also possible.

[0014] According to an advantageous embodiment, the nut is formed integrally with the heat protection cap. Thus, the nut can be made of plastic or metal.

[0015] Furthermore, according to a preferred embodiment, an access opening for a tool is arranged in the shaft, which extends through the heat protection cap. The access opening can be designed, for example, as a hexagon socket or a Torx socket. This serves for screwing the tool to the body.

[0016] The heat protection cap is advantageously larger in diameter than the base plate in order to shield the base plate particularly well against heat radiation.

[0017] In addition, the shaft is preferably smaller in diameter than the base plate or the heat protection cap.

[0018] Further details, features, and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description with reference to the drawings. They show: Fig. 1 a cross section through a fastening device according to the invention.

[0019] The Fig. The fastening device shown in Figure 1 is intended for use in the immediate vicinity of hot components, particularly in a motor vehicle, such as in the area of the exhaust system, the turbo group, etc.

[0020] The fastening device comprises a nut 1 having a base plate 2 and a preferably circular shaft 3 projecting therefrom. The shaft 3 is provided with a heat protection cap 4 on the side facing away from the base plate 2. The heat protection cap 4 and the base plate 2 consist of essentially flat circular discs, with the heat protection cap 4 being larger in diameter than the base plate 2 and the shaft 3 being smaller in diameter than the base plate or the heat protection cap 4.

[0021] A reinforcement plate 5 is arranged between the base plate 2 and the shaft 3. The reinforcement plate 5 is smaller in diameter than the base plate 2 and counteracts deformation of the base plate 2. The reinforcement plate 5 is supported on the shaft 3 via angle pieces 6.

[0022] The heat protection cap 4 can be made of plastic or metal. Furthermore, the nut 1, which essentially consists of the base plate 2, shaft 3, heat protection cap 4, reinforcement plate 5, and angle pieces 6, can be formed in one piece and thus be made entirely of plastic or metal.

[0023] The nut 1 is provided with a bore 7 with an internal thread, which extends through the base plate 2 and the reinforcement plate 5 into the shaft 3. With the help of this bore 7, the nut 1 can be screwed to a bolt fixed to the body.

[0024] In order to tighten the nut 1 onto the body-mounted bolt, an engagement opening 8 for a tool is arranged in the shaft 3, which penetrates the heat protection cap 4 and extends into the shaft 3. For example, a hexagon socket or a Torx socket can be inserted into this engagement opening 8.

[0025] The foregoing description of the present invention is for illustrative purposes only and not for the purpose of limiting the invention. Various changes and modifications are possible within the scope of the invention and its equivalents.
