AI Technical Summary
Existing load transmission systems in vehicles with axle configurations including two drive axles and a follow-up axis face challenges in improving driving behavior, particularly in maintaining traction and preventing unnecessary locking of the central differential.
A process and system for load transmission that allows for the transfer of load from the follow-up axis to the drive axles without blocking the central differential, enabling normal driving conditions. The system includes a central differential arrangement that can be locked only after the load has been transferred between the drive axles, optimizing traction and driving performance.
This approach enhances vehicle driving behavior by maintaining drive axis traction and preventing unnecessary central differential locking, thus allowing for higher speeds and smoother curve navigation.

Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL AREA
[0001] The invention relates to a method for load transfer in a vehicle with an axle configuration comprising at least two drive axles and at least one trailing axle, according to claim 1. The invention also relates to a system for load transfer in a vehicle with an axle configuration comprising at least two drive axles and at least one trailing axle. The invention also relates to a vehicle. Furthermore, the invention relates to a computer program and a computer program product. BACKGROUND
[0002] For heavy vehicles, such as trucks, there is a function that consists of transferring the load in an axle assembly to the primary drive axle in order to increase traction on the primary drive axle when necessary.
[0003] Load transfer on a tandem-driven triple-axle assembly, comprising two drive axles and one trailing axle, requires transferring the load from the trailing axle to the two driven axles and then from the secondary to the primary drive axle. The vehicle's center differential assembly is configured to provide a locked state for the two drive axles before the load transfer function is requested. Locking the center differential assembly is intended to prevent the axle receiving a reduced load from starting to rotate when the load is transferred between the drive axles, and the loaded axle from effectively stopping rotating.
[0004] WO 2014 / 070083 A1 discloses a system for controlling load transfers in a vehicle. This includes sending control signals from a control device to a load transfer control mechanism, which is connected to the axle assembly, and controlling the transfer to the axle assembly by means of a control mechanism. The axle configuration comprises two drive axles and one trailing axle in a triple axle assembly arrangement. The load transfer is carried out in two steps: first from the trailing axle to the two drive axles, and then from one drive axle to the other.
[0005] Document WO 2011 / 075 014 A1 further discloses an anti-slip support system with an activation device, wherein a differential lock for two drive axles is described as predetermined anti-slip functions.
[0006] DE 10 2014 022 022 A1 teaches a device and a method for solving traction problems in multi-axle vehicles, wherein loads can be shifted between driven and non-driven axles to increase a static friction force.
[0007] From a non-patent publication entitled “Product information rear axle suspension RADDT12”, dated May 21, 2010, separately implemented measures such as an axle lift for a trailing axle and an increase in the axle load on a first drive axle are known for a vehicle with an axle configuration that includes two drive axles and a trailing axle as well as a central differential arrangement.
[0008] However, there is a need to further improve load transfer for axle configurations that include at least two drive axles and at least one trailing axle. TASKS OF INVENTION
[0009] One object of the present invention is to provide a method for load transfer in a vehicle with an axle configuration comprising at least two drive axles and at least one trailing axle, which enables better driving behavior of the vehicle.
[0010] Another object of the present invention is to provide a load transfer system in a vehicle with an axle configuration comprising at least two drive axles and at least one trailing axle, which enables better driving performance of the vehicle. BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0011] These and other tasks arising from the description below are achieved by a method, a system, a vehicle, a computer program, and a computer program product as set forth in the accompanying independent claims. Preferred embodiments of the method and the system are defined in the accompanying dependent claims.
[0012] In particular, an object of the invention is achieved by a method for load transfer in a vehicle with an axle configuration comprising at least two drive axles and at least one trailing axle. The axle configuration includes a central differential assembly that provides a locked state and an unlocked state for the at least two drive axles. The method comprises the step of transferring a load from the at least one trailing axle to the at least two drive axles. The step of transferring the load from the at least one trailing axle occurs when the central differential assembly is in an unlocked state. It is thus possible to transfer a load from the trailing axle to the drive axles without having to lock the central differential, thereby enabling normal driving.Driving at higher speeds and cornering is improved, as the drive axle traction is not affected by a potential locking of the center differential. This avoids unnecessary locking of the center differential, thus improving the vehicle's handling.
[0013] According to the invention, the method comprises the step of locking the central differential assembly before transferring a load between the at least two drive axles, after the load has been transferred from the at least one trailing axle to the at least two drive axles, if this is desired, for example, due to the tractive effort. This locks the central differential as needed, thereby ensuring safe vehicle handling in conjunction with load transfer between the drive axles.
[0014] According to one embodiment of the method, the axle configuration comprises two drive axles and one trailing axle of a triple axle assembly arrangement.
[0015] In particular, an object of the invention is achieved by a load transfer system in a vehicle with an axle configuration comprising at least two drive axles and at least one trailing axle. The axle configuration includes a central differential assembly that provides a locked state and an unlocked state for the at least two drive axles. The system includes means for transferring a load from the at least one trailing axle to the at least two drive axles. The means for transferring a load from the at least one trailing axle are arranged to be activated when the central differential assembly is in an unlocked state.
[0016] According to the invention, the system comprises means for locking the central differential arrangement before transferring a load between the at least two drive axles, after the load has been transferred from the at least one trailing axle to the at least two drive axles, if this is desired, for example, in view of the traction power.

[3] A system (I; II) for load transfer in a vehicle (1) having an axle configuration (X1, X2, X3, X4, CD; 250) comprising at least two drive axles (X2, X3) and at least one trailing axle (X4), the axle configuration comprising a central differential arrangement (CD) providing a locked state and an unlocked state for the at least two drive axles (X2, X3), the drive axles (X2, X3) rotating at substantially the same speed in the locked state, the system comprising: - means for transferring a load from the at least one trailing axle (X4) to the at least two drive axles (X2, X3), wherein the means (230) for transferring the load from the at least one trailing axle (X4) are arranged to be activated when the central differential arrangement (CD; 250) is in an unlocked state; - means for locking the central differential assembly (CD; 250) before transferring a load between the at least two drive axles (X2, X3) and after the load has been transferred from the at least one trailing axle (X4) to the at least two drive axles (X2, X3); and - means for transferring a load between the at least two drive axles (X2, X3) after the load has been transferred from the at least one trailing axle (X4) to the at least two drive axles (X2, X3) and after the central differential arrangement (CD; 250) has been locked. [4] The system of claim 3, wherein the axle configuration comprises two drive axles (X2, X3) and one tag axle (X4) of a triple axle assembly. [5] Vehicle (1) comprising a system (I) according to claim 3 or 4. [6] Computer program (P) for load transfer in a vehicle (1) with an axle configuration comprising at least two drive axles (X2, X3) and at least one trailing axle (X4), characterized by in that the computer program (P) comprises program code which, when running on an electronic control unit (100) or another computer (500) connected to the electronic control unit (100), causes the electronic control unit (100) to carry out a method according to one of claims 1 to 2. [7] Computer program product, characterized by that it comprises a digital storage medium which stores the computer program according to claim 6.
