Description

[0001] The invention relates to a spare wheel mounting structure for theft prevention, and more particularly, to a spare wheel mounting structure for theft prevention capable of easily mounting the spare wheel in a manufacturing process and preventing a shaft bolt from being operated on the outside after vehicle delivery.

[0002] A conventional spare tire was mounted on a vehicle to replace it when a tire becomes damaged during use or is torn for various reasons.

[0003] The manner in which the spare tire as mentioned above is mounted and supported on a vehicle varies depending on the type of vehicle. In the case of passenger cars, the spare tire was inserted and mounted in a storage space formed in a trunk. On the other hand, in the case of trucks or off-road vehicles (SUVs), the spare tire was typically mounted and supported on a lower portion of a floor panel via a bracket 30 and a cable W, since no storage space is provided therein.

[0004] As in Fig. 1, a conventional spare wheel S includes a carrier 30 from which a cable W can be wound or unwound using suitable tools such as a wrench, and a carrier support bracket 10 connected to one end of the cable W wound on a winch device and capable of being attached to or detached from the spare wheel S. Therefore, the spare wheel S is mounted on a vehicle by connecting it to the carrier support bracket 10 and then winding the cable W around the carrier 30.

[0005] In detail, the spare tire S can be raised for mounting on a vehicle by rotating an upper end portion of a shaft bolt 32 in one direction (for example, clockwise) or a lower end portion of the shaft bolt 32 in a reverse direction (for example, counterclockwise). Conversely, the spare tire S can be lowered for detaching from a vehicle by rotating the upper end portion of the shaft bolt 32 in the reverse direction (for example, counterclockwise) or the lower end portion of the shaft bolt 32 in one direction (for example, clockwise).

[0006] According to the prior art, the lower end portion of the shaft bolt 32 of the bracket 30 is exposed to the outside of a vehicle to facilitate the installation of the spare tire during the vehicle manufacturing process. However, since the lower end portion of the shaft bolt 32 is exposed to the outside of a vehicle, the shaft bolt 32 can be operated from the outside of the vehicle, thus causing a problem that spare tire theft frequently occurs.

[0007] CN 2 05 149 787 U describes a structure for mounting a spare wheel for anti-theft purposes, comprising a carrier support bracket on which a spare wheel is mounted, a holder which is mounted on a floor surface of a vehicle and supports the spare wheel, and a carrier which winds and unwinds a cable which is mounted on the carrier support bracket so that the spare wheel can be moved up and down, the carrier further comprising a carrier housing which has an upper surface in which a through opening is formed and a lower surface in which a projection opening is formed, and a shaft screw which is rotatably mounted on the carrier housing and is suitable for winding and unwinding the cable by rotation thereof.

[0008] Further structures for mounting a spare wheel for anti-theft protection are known from CN 2 05 952 096 U and CN 2 06 107 378 U. The object of the invention is to provide a structure for mounting a spare wheel for anti-theft protection.

[0009] The object is achieved according to the invention by a structure for mounting a spare wheel for theft protection according to the features of claim 1. Advantageous further developments are described in the subclaims.

[0010] According to various aspects of the invention, a spare wheel mounting structure for anti-theft purposes includes a carrier support bracket on which a spare wheel is mounted, a bracket mounted on a floor surface of a vehicle and supporting the spare wheel, and a bracket that winds and unwinds a cable mounted on the carrier support bracket so that the spare wheel can be moved up and down. The bracket may further include a carrier housing having an upper surface in which a through hole is formed and a lower surface in which a projection hole is formed, a shaft screw rotatably mounted on the carrier housing and capable of winding and unwinding the cable by rotation thereof, and a sleeve capable of transmitting a torque applied from an outside of the vehicle to the shaft screw.when the sleeve is inserted into the projection opening and no external force is exerted on the sleeve which pushes the sleeve upwards and which is suitable for blocking the torque not to be transmitted to the shaft screw when an external force is exerted on the sleeve which pushes the sleeve upwards so that the sleeve is fully inserted into the projection opening.

[0011] The through hole and the projection hole of the support housing may be arranged coaxially, and the shaft screw may penetrate the through hole and the projection hole.

[0012] A height of the projection opening may be equal to or greater than a height of the shaft screw projecting from a lower portion of the carrier housing.

[0013] The shaft screw may include a screw portion rotatably mounted on the upper surface of the support housing and a shaft portion formed to project downward from a lower surface of the screw portion.

[0014] The shaft portion may have a first engagement portion disposed at a lowermost end portion of the shaft portion and formed in a polygonal column shape for mounting the sleeve to the shaft screw.

[0015] The shaft portion may include a torque transmission portion disposed at an upper end portion of the first engagement portion and formed in a polygonal column shape, and to which a torque applied to the sleeve from the outside of the vehicle can be transmitted from the sleeve.

[0016] The shaft portion may include a second engagement portion disposed at an upper end portion of the torque transmitting portion, formed in a helical cylindrical shape of which a diameter of an upper surface thereof is larger than that of a lower surface thereof, and fixing the position of the sleeve so that the torque received by the sleeve is transmitted to the torque transmitting portion.

[0017] The shaft portion may include a torque blocking portion disposed at an upper end portion of the second engagement portion and formed in a cylindrical shape to block the torque transmitted from the sleeve from being transmitted to the shaft portion.

[0018] A minimum width of the first engagement portion passing through a central axis of the first engagement portion may exceed a minimum width of the torque transmission portion passing through a central axis of the torque transmission portion.

[0019] The diameter of the upper surface of the second engagement portion may exceed a minimum width of the torque transmitting portion passing through a central axis of the torque transmitting portion.

[0020] A minimum width of the torque transmitting section passing through a center axis of the torque transmitting section may exceed a diameter of the torque blocking section.

[0022] The sleeve may have a transmission portion disposed on an upper surface of the contact portion to transmit the torque applied to the contact portion to the shaft screw and formed in a cylindrical shape.

[0023] An interior space of a cylindrical shape may be formed in the sleeve.

[0024] The transmission portion may have a polygonal opening formed in an upper surface of the transmission portion to connect the interior to an exterior of the sleeve.

[0025] A minimum width of the polygonal opening passing through a central axis of the polygonal opening may exceed a diameter of the torque blocking section.

[0026] A minimum width of the polygonal opening passing through a central axis of the polygonal opening may be equal to or greater than a minimum width of the torque transmitting portion passing through a central axis of the torque transmitting portion.

[0027] A minimum width of the polygonal opening passing through a central axis of the polygonal opening may be smaller than a minimum width of the first engagement portion passing through a central axis of the first engagement portion.

[0028] A minimum width of the polygonal opening passing through a central axis of the polygonal opening may be smaller than a diameter of an upper surface of the second engaging portion.

[0029] A diameter of the interior space may exceed a maximum width of the first engagement portion and a diameter of an upper surface of the second engagement portion.

[0030] According to the invention as described above, it is possible to easily mount the spare wheel in a manufacturing process of a vehicle and prevent a shaft bolt from being operated on the outside after the vehicle delivery, thereby preventing spare wheel theft.

[0031] It is understood that the term "vehicle" or "vehicular" or other similar term, as used herein, encompasses general motor vehicles, such as passenger cars, including sport utility vehicles (SUVs), buses, trucks, various commercial vehicles, watercraft, including a variety of boats and ships, aircraft, and the like, as well as hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, hydrogen-powered vehicles, and other alternative fuel vehicles (e.g., fuels derived from feedstocks other than petroleum). As referred to herein, a hybrid vehicle is a vehicle that has two or more power sources, for example, both gasoline power and electric power.

[0032] The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. The drawing shows: Fig. 1 is a view of a conventional structure for mounting a spare wheel; Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram of a structure for mounting a spare wheel for anti-theft purposes according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention; Fig. 3 a perspective view of a shaft screw and a sleeve according to the invention; Fig. 4 a section of the shaft screw according to the invention; Fig. 5 a section of the sleeve according to the invention; and Fig. 6 and Fig. 7 views of operating states of a structure for mounting a spare wheel for anti-theft purposes according to the invention.

[0033] It should be understood that the attached drawings are not necessarily to scale and present a somewhat simplified representation of various features illustrating the basic principles of the invention. The specific design features of the present invention, including, for example, specific dimensions, orientations, positions, and shapes disclosed herein, will be determined in part by the particular intended application and usage environment.

[0034] Reference will now be made in detail to various embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings and described below. While the invention has been described in connection with exemplary embodiments, it is to be understood that the present description is not intended to limit the invention to these exemplary embodiments. On the contrary, the invention is intended to cover not only the exemplary embodiments, but also various alternatives, modifications, equivalents, and other embodiments which may be included within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.

[0035] With reference to the Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, a spare wheel mounting structure for anti-theft purposes according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention may include a carrier support bracket 100 on which a spare wheel S is mounted, a bracket 200 mounted on a floor surface of a vehicle and supporting the spare wheel S, and a bracket 300 that winds or unwinds a rope W mounted on the carrier support bracket 100 so that the spare wheel S can be moved up and down.

[0036] The carrier 300 may include a carrier housing 310, a shaft screw 320, and a sleeve 330. A through hole 311 may be formed in an upper surface of the carrier housing 310, and a projection hole 312, which projects downward and has a cylindrical shape, may be formed in a lower surface of the carrier housing 310.

[0037] The through hole 311 and the projection hole 312 of the support case 310 can be arranged coaxially because a shaft portion 322 described later is arranged to penetrate the through hole 311 and the projection hole 312.

[0038] The height of the protrusion hole 312 may be equal to or greater than the height of the shaft bolt 320 protruding from a lower portion of the carrier housing 310. That is, the height of the protrusion hole 312 is the height at which the sleeve 330 is fully inserted into the protrusion hole 312 when the sleeve 330 is pushed upward after the spare tire S is mounted on the vehicle in a manufacturing process of a vehicle.

[0039] With reference to Fig. 4, the shaft screw 320 may be rotatably mounted on the support housing 310 and may be a configuration element for winding or unwinding the rope W by its rotation. The shaft screw 320 may have a screw portion 321 and the shaft portion 322.

[0040] The screw portion 321 may be rotatably mounted on the upper surface of the support housing 310. That is, the screw portion 321 may be a configuration element for applying torque when a driver mounts the spare wheel S on the vehicle or detaches the spare wheel S from the vehicle after vehicle delivery.

[0041] The shaft portion 322 may be formed to protrude downward from a lower surface of the screw portion 321. The shaft portion 322 may include a first engaging portion 322a, a torque transmitting portion 322b, a second engaging portion 322c, and a torque blocking portion 322d.

[0042] The first engagement portion 322a may be disposed at a lowermost end portion of the shaft portion 322 and may be a configuration element of a polygonal column shape for mounting the sleeve 330 to the shaft screw 320. That is, the first engagement portion 322a may be inserted into a polygonal opening 332a of the sleeve 330 in such a way as to penetrate it, thereby preventing the sleeve 330 from being separated from the shaft portion 322.

[0043] The torque transmission portion 322b may be disposed at an upper end portion of the first engagement portion 322a and may be a configuration member of a polygonal column shape to which a torque applied to the sleeve 330 from the outside of a vehicle is transmitted from the sleeve 330. That is, the torque transmission portion 322b is inserted into the polygonal opening 332a during the assembly of the spare tire S in the manufacturing process of a vehicle and is contacted with an inner peripheral surface of the polygonal opening 332a. Therefore, when a worker applies torque to the sleeve 330, the torque is transmitted to the torque transmission portion 322b to rotate the shaft bolt 320.

[0044] The second engagement portion 322c may be disposed at an upper end portion of the torque transmission portion 322b and may be a configuration member of a skew cylindrical shape of which the diameter of an upper surface is larger than that of a lower surface, and may fix the position of the sleeve 330 such that the torque received by the sleeve 330 is transmitted to the torque transmission portion 322b.

[0045] Furthermore, the diameter of the upper surface of the second engagement portion 322c may be larger than the minimum width of the torque transmission portion 322b passing through the central axis of the torque transmission portion 322b. At the same time, it is desirable that the diameter of the lower surface of the second engagement portion 322c be equal to or slightly larger than the minimum width of the torque transmission portion 322b passing through the central axis of the torque transmission portion 322b. This prevents the sleeve 330 from being fully inserted into the projection opening 312 unless an external force is applied to push the sleeve 330 upward.

[0046] Therefore, during the manufacturing process of a vehicle, the inner peripheral surface of the polygonal opening 332a of the sleeve 330 remains in contact with an outer peripheral surface of the torque transmission portion 322b. When a worker applies an external force to the sleeve 330, the torque is transmitted to the torque transmission portion 322b without being distributed to rotate the shaft screw 320.

[0047] The torque blocking portion 322d may be disposed at an upper end portion of the second engaging portion 322c and may be a configuration member of a cylindrical shape for blocking the torque transmitted from the sleeve 330 so that it cannot be transmitted to the shaft portion 322.

[0048] That is, after mounting the spare tire S on the vehicle during the vehicle manufacturing process, a worker pushes the sleeve 330 upward so that it is fully inserted into the projection hole 312. At this time, the torque blocking portion 322d is placed in the polygonal hole 332a, and the diameter of the torque blocking portion 322d is smaller than the minimum width of the polygonal hole 332a.

[0049] Therefore, after vehicle delivery, even if torque is applied to the sleeve 330, the torque is blocked by the torque blocking portion 322d, so that only the sleeve 330 idles, and the shaft bolt 320 is not rotated. Accordingly, after vehicle delivery, since the shaft bolt 320 cannot be rotated from the outside of the vehicle, it is possible to prevent spare tire theft.

[0050] The minimum width of the first engagement portion 322a passing through the central axis of the first engagement portion 322a may exceed the minimum width of the torque transmission portion 322b passing through the central axis of the torque transmission portion 322b.

[0051] Furthermore, the diameter of the upper surface of the second engagement portion 322c may exceed the minimum width of the torque transmission portion 322b passing through the central axis of the torque transmission portion 322b. At the same time, it is desirable that the diameter of the lower surface of the second engagement portion 322c be the same as or slightly larger than the minimum width of the torque transmission portion 322b passing through the central axis of the torque transmission portion 322b. This prevents the sleeve 330 from being fully inserted into the projection opening 312 unless an external force is applied to push the sleeve 330 upward.

[0052] Accordingly, it is possible to fix the position of the sleeve 330 such that the inner peripheral surface of the polygonal opening 332a can be contacted with the torque transmission portion 322b. Therefore, when a worker applies torque to the sleeve 330, the torque is transmitted only to the torque transmission portion 322b without being distributed to rotate the shaft screw 320.

[0053] The minimum width of the torque transmission portion 322b passing through the center axis of the torque transmission portion 322b may exceed the diameter of the torque blocking portion 322d because the torque can only be blocked by the torque blocking portion 322d even when the torque is applied to the sleeve 330 if the diameter of the torque blocking portion 322d, which is placed in the polygonal opening 332a after vehicle delivery, is small compared to the torque transmission portion 322b, which contacts the inner peripheral surface of the polygonal opening 332a during the manufacturing process of the vehicle.

[0054] With reference to Fig. 5, the sleeve 330 can play a role in transmitting torque applied from the outside of a vehicle to the shaft bolt 320 or blocking torque not to be transmitted to the shaft bolt 320. The sleeve 330 can have a contact portion 331, a transmission portion 332, and an interior space 333. Furthermore, the sleeve 330 can be formed from an elastic material, particularly plastic, so that a worker can push the sleeve 330 upward to fully insert it into the projection opening 312. However, the invention is not limited thereto, and the sleeve 330 can be formed from various materials according to design preferences.

[0055] The contact portion 331 may be a polygonal columnar configuration member to which torque for rotating the sleeve 330 is applied from the outside of a vehicle. That is, a worker applies the torque to the contact portion 331 during the vehicle manufacturing process using appropriate tools such as a wrench. Accordingly, the torque can rotate the shaft bolt 320 through the torque transmission portion 322b contacting the inner peripheral surface of the polygonal opening 332a. Therefore, it is possible to easily mount the spare tire S to the vehicle from the outside of a vehicle.

[0056] The transmission portion 332 may be disposed on the upper surface of the contact portion 331 and may be a configuration member of a cylindrical shape for transmitting the torque applied to the contact portion 331 to the shaft screw 320. The transmission portion 332 may include the polygonal opening 332a. The polygonal opening 332a may be formed in the upper surface of the transmission portion 332 such that it connects the inner space 333 to the outer space of the sleeve 330.

[0057] At the same time, the minimum width of the polygonal opening 332a passing through the central axis of the polygonal opening 332a may exceed the diameter of the torque blocking portion 322d. That is, the diameter of the torque blocking portion 322d may be smaller than the minimum width of the polygonal opening 332a.

[0058] During the final assembly process of a vehicle, a worker can push the sleeve 330 upward by applying an external force. Accordingly, the sleeve 330 is fully inserted into the protrusion opening 312, so that the torque blocking portion 322d is positioned on the inside of the polygonal opening 332a.

[0059] Accordingly, after the vehicle delivery, even if a torque is applied to the sleeve 330, since the torque is blocked by the torque blocking portion 322d, only the sleeve 330 runs idle, and the shaft bolt 320 is not rotated. Therefore, since it is impossible to rotate the shaft bolt 320 from the outside of the vehicle after the vehicle delivery, theft of the spare tire S can be prevented.

[0060] Furthermore, the minimum width of the polygonal opening 332a passing through the central axis of the polygonal opening 332a may be equal to or greater than the minimum width of the torque transmitting portion 322b passing through the central axis of the torque transmitting portion 322b.

[0061] That is, during the assembly of the spare tire S to a vehicle during the vehicle manufacturing process, the torque transmission portion 322b is inserted into the polygonal opening 332a such that the inner surface of the polygonal opening 332a contacts the outer peripheral surface of the torque transmission portion 322b. Accordingly, when a worker applies torque to the sleeve 330, the torque is transmitted to the torque transmission portion 322b to rotate the shaft bolt 320.

[0062] In the case where the minimum width of the polygonal opening 332a passing through the central axis of the polygonal opening 332a is equal to the minimum width of the torque transmission portion 322b passing through the central axis of the torque transmission portion 322b, the torque applied to the sleeve 330 from the outside of a vehicle can be maximally transmitted to the shaft bolt 320. Only in order to allow a worker to easily insert the sleeve 330 into the projection hole 312 after mounting the spare tire S on the vehicle during the vehicle manufacturing process, it is desirable to set the minimum width of the polygonal opening 332a passing through the central axis of the polygonal opening 332a slightly larger than the minimum width of the torque transmission portion 322b passing through the central axis of the torque transmission portion 322b.

[0063] The minimum width of the polygonal opening 332a passing through the central axis of the polygonal opening 332a may be smaller than the minimum width of the first engaging portion 322a passing through the central axis of the first engaging portion 322a. At the same time, it is desirable that the minimum width of the polygonal opening 332a passing through the central axis of the polygonal opening 332a be the same as the diameter of the lower surface of the second engaging portion 322c, or that the diameter of the lower surface of the second engaging portion 322c be slightly larger than the minimum width of the polygonal opening 332a. This prevents the sleeve 330 from being fully inserted into the projection opening 312 unless an external force is applied to push the sleeve 330 upward.

[0064] Accordingly, the position of the sleeve 330 can be fixed such that, during the manufacturing process of a vehicle, the inner peripheral surface of the polygonal opening 332a can be contacted with the torque transmission portion 322b. Therefore, when a worker applies torque to the sleeve 330, the torque is transmitted only to the torque transmission portion 322b without being distributed to rotate the shaft screw 320.

[0065] The inner space 333 of a cylindrical shape may be formed on the inside of the sleeve 330. At the same time, the diameter of the inner space 333 may exceed the maximum width of the first engaging portion 322a and the diameter of the upper surface of the second engaging portion 322c.

[0066] That is, after vehicle delivery, the first engaging portion 322a, the torque transmitting portion 322b, and the second engaging portion 322c may be located in the internal space 333. However, after vehicle delivery, even if torque is applied to the sleeve 330 from the outside of the vehicle, the sleeve 330 should be idled through the torque transmitting portion 322d. Therefore, the diameter of the internal space 333 exceeds the maximum width of the first engaging portion 322a and the diameter of the upper surface of the second engaging portion 322c, so it is necessary to prevent the torque of the sleeve 330 from being transmitted to the shaft bolt 320 via the first engaging portion 322a and the second engaging portion 322c.

[0067] As in Fig. 6, in the manufacturing process of a vehicle, the sleeve 330 should protrude toward the outside of the protrusion opening 312 in the carrier housing 310. In detail, in the manufacturing process of a vehicle, the inner peripheral surface of the polygonal opening 332a is in contact with the torque transmission portion 322b, the second engagement portion 322c is connected to the upper surface of the torque transmission portion 322b, and the first engagement portion 322a is connected to the upper surface of the inner space 333.

[0068] Therefore, the torque applied by a worker to the sleeve 330 is maximally transmitted to the shaft bolt 320. Accordingly, the worker can easily mount the spare wheel S on a vehicle.

[0069] Furthermore, as in Fig.7, after mounting the spare tire S on a vehicle, a worker pulls the sleeve 330 upward so that it is fully inserted into the projection opening 312. In detail, the torque blocking portion 322d is located in the polygonal opening 332a, and the first engaging portion 322a, the torque transmitting portion 322b, and the second engaging portion 322c are located in the inner space 333.

[0070] Therefore, after the spare tire S is mounted on a vehicle (ie, after vehicle delivery), even if torque is applied to the sleeve 330, the torque is blocked by the torque blocking portion 322d, so that only the sleeve 330 idles, and the shaft bolt 320 is not rotated. Accordingly, since it is impossible to rotate the shaft bolt 320 from the outside of the vehicle after vehicle delivery, spare tire theft is prevented.

[0071] For ease of explanation and precise definition in the appended claims, the terms "top", "bottom", "inside", "outside", etc., are used to describe the features of the exemplary embodiment with reference to the positions of those features in the figures.
