Description
[0001] The invention relates to a locking device, in particular for the passenger door of a motor vehicle.
[0002] In the case of motor vehicles, it is known that in older vehicles each door is provided with a lock and a cylinder to unlock or lock the respective door with a key.
[0003] It is also known that in older vehicles with central locking, only the driver's door is equipped with a lock cylinder for locking and unlocking with a key. The locking mechanism of the driver's and passenger's doors is at least essentially identical, except that the driver's door has a lock cylinder, while the passenger's door does not.
[0004] By omitting the lock cylinder on the passenger door, a space is created in the area of the passenger door's locking mechanism that, in the event of manipulation, could be accessed with a tool to forcibly open the passenger door. [0009] One embodiment of the invention relates to a locking device for a door, in particular for the passenger door or any other door of a motor vehicle, comprising a locking bridge attached to the door. The locking bridge has an opening into which a locking cylinder is inserted, or optionally, no locking cylinder is inserted. A security element is inserted between the door and the locking bridge, the security element having a projection that engages in the opening. The security element is made of a plastic material. By arranging the security element, the space in the area of the locking bridge and between the locking bridge and the door can be filled, thus preventing the easy insertion of a tool to manipulate the locking components of the locking device.Inserting the projection into the opening also prevents the safety element from being easily pushed away, because it is thereby positively connected to the locking bridge.
