Abstract
Description
Area
[0001] The present application relates to the field of display technologies, in particular a display field and a display device. background
[0002] Conveniently portable, foldable display devices represent an important development trend for future display devices.
[0003] Currently, foldable display devices are generally manufactured by assembling a large number of small display screens into a single display field, with the panels folded into foldable sections. However, when a large number of flexible display screens are assembled into a foldable display field suitable for a large display, this solution may not produce a satisfactory display effect around the foldable sections on a small display device, such as a mobile phone or tablet computer, thus degrading the overall display performance of the display field.
[0004] Furthermore, if the display field is a flexible display field with a large bending radius, then a bending effect can occur even if pixel circuits in the display field and shift registers in the periphery are not designed to be bend-resistant; however, with a small bending radius, semiconductor elements in the pixel circuits and shift registers in the periphery can be bent and thus damaged, which impairs the display effect in the folding areas.
[0005] Accordingly, the display effect of the display field with the folding areas may deteriorate due to the structural properties of the pixel circuits, according to the state of the art.
[0006] US patent 2014 / 0361262 A1 discloses a flexible display device having a foldable area and a non-foldable area, wherein the non-foldable areas have the same distribution density of pixel circuit units.
[0007] US patent 2004 / 0227703 A1 describes a continuous display with a non-uniform pixel density.
[0008] CN 103 713 436 A discloses a flexible display field in which the density of pixel units in a foldable area is higher than the density of pixel units in a flat area. Brief description

The drawings of the invention are intended only to illustrate relative positional relationships, whereby the thicknesses of some components in the drawings may be exaggerated for better understanding, so that the thicknesses indicated in the drawings do not necessarily imply proportional relationships between the actual thicknesses.
[0015] It is noted that the following description goes into specific details to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the invention. However, the invention can be implemented in many other embodiments than those described here, and a person skilled in the art can generalize these without departing from the basic principle of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not limited to the specific embodiments to be disclosed below. For example, certain words may be used in the description and the claims to designate switching elements. A person skilled in the art understands that hardware manufacturers refer to the same switching elements by different names. In the description and the claims, the switching elements are distinguished not by their different names, but by their different functions. For example, terms like "have" or "comprise" or a variant thereof, as used in the description and claims, are open terms and should therefore be interpreted as "have" without being limited thereto. Preferred embodiments of the invention are described below solely for the purpose of illustrating the basic principle of the invention, without limiting the scope of the invention. The scope of the claimed invention is determined by the accompanying claims. It should be noted that when it is stated that an element such as a layer, a film, a region, or a substrate is "on" another element, the element may be located directly on the other element, or one or more elements may be arranged between them.
[0016] Embodiments of the invention provide a display field and a display device with which the bending stability of the display field is improved without impairing the display effect of the display field.
[0017] According to Fig. 1. A display field according to one embodiment of the invention comprises at least the folding area A and at least one non-folding area B located near the folding area A, and the display field comprises: a substrate 01, a plurality of light-emitting elements (in Fig. (1 not illustrated and described in detail below) and a plurality of pixel circuit units 02 arranged on the substrate 01, wherein the plurality of pixel circuit units is arranged in the non-foldable region B.
[0018] The rigid region B has at least one first region B1 and at least one second region B2, and in the first region B1 and in the second region B2 a plurality of pixel circuit units 02 are arranged in a matrix, the first region B1 borders the folding region A, the second region B2 is located on the side of the first region B1 furthest from the folding region A, and the pixel circuit units 02 are distributed in the first region B1 with a density that is higher than or equal to the distribution density of the pixel circuit units 02 in the second region B2.
[0019] It should be noted that, according to the embodiment of the invention, the display field may have one or more folding areas A, and the folding area(s) may be arranged at any position within a display area of the display field or in a non-display area. The width of the folding area may preferably be in the range of 0 to 1 mm in the embodiment of the invention, but this is not a limitation. The substrate of the display field according to the embodiment of the invention may be flexible, or it may be flexible in the folding area and rigid in the non-folding area, or it may be more flexible in the folding area than in the non-folding area, but this is not a limitation of the embodiment of the invention.Furthermore, the numbers and occupancy distributions of the first area and the second area can be the same, but need not be, and the embodiment of the invention is not limited in this respect.
[0020] According to Fig. For example, in 2A the display area has two foldable areas A and three non-foldable areas B, where each non-foldable area B has a first area B1 adjacent to the foldable area A and a second area B2 on the side of the first area B1 furthest from the foldable area. The two adjacent foldable areas A are spaced a shorter distance apart, and pixel circuit units corresponding to the two foldable areas are arranged on two sides of the foldable areas in the first areas. Thus, the non-foldable area B between the two adjacent foldable areas A has only the first area B1.
[0021] The folding directions of the two folding areas A can be the same, but they don't have to be. If the folding directions of the two folding areas A are the same, then the display field can be configured as shown in Fig. 2B illustrates how to fold it.
[0022] It should be noted that Fig. 1 a display field having only one folding area and Fig. Figure 2A illustrates a display field having only two folding areas, but the display field can have more than two folding areas. The display field can comprise a plurality of first areas, and the pixel circuit units can be distributed with the same density in each of the first areas, but need not be; the embodiment of the invention is not limited in this respect. Since, in the embodiment of the invention, no pixel circuit units are arranged in the folding area(s), the bending radius of the folding area can be set arbitrarily small; the embodiment of the invention is not limited in this respect.Furthermore, in the embodiment of the invention, the pixel circuit units are generally configured to control light emission elements in the display field in order to provide a display; thus, in the embodiment of the invention, the number of pixel circuit units equals the number of light emission elements.
[0023] In contrast to the prior art, in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention all pixel switching units are arranged in the non-folding area, while no pixel switching units are present in the folding area, so that when the display field is bent, the pixel switching units are not affected by the bending radius regardless of how small the bending radius is and the elements in the pixel switching units are not damaged while the display field is folded, thereby improving the display effect of the display field. In particular, the non-folding area is divided into the first area and the second area. The pixel circuits are arranged in the first area and the second area, respectively, and the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the first area can be modified such that the pixel circuit units, which would actually have to be arranged in the folding area and the non-folding area, are arranged in the first area and the second area. Accordingly, in this embodiment of the invention, the pixel circuit units can still control any light-emitting element in the display field normally to provide a display, thereby improving the bending stability of the display field without preventing the display field from operating normally.
[0024] In one embodiment, in several implementations, the distribution density of the pixel circuit units 021 in the first region B1 is higher than or equal to the distribution density of the pixel circuit units 022 in the second region B2. For example, in a first implementation, the distance between two adjacent pixel circuit units is changed so that the pixel circuit units 021 in the first region are more densely distributed, thereby changing the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the first region, such that the distribution density of the pixel circuit units 021 in the first region is higher than or equal to the distribution density of the pixel circuit units 022 in the second region.Furthermore, in a second implementation, the occupancy area of each of the pixel circuit units 021 in the first area is reduced, and the distance between two adjacent pixel circuit units 021 in the first area is shortened, so that the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the first area is higher than or equal to the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the second area. Of course, there may be other implementations, although these are not described in detail here.
[0025] The specific structure of the display field is described in detail below in conjunction with a concrete implementation.
[0026] In one implementation, according to the embodiment of the invention, the size of the pixel circuit units in the first area of the aforementioned display field can be reduced in order to further increase the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the first area, that is, the coverage area of the pixel circuit units in the first area can be reduced, and according to Fig. 3. The area covered by the pixel switching units 021 in the first area B1 can be smaller than the area covered by the pixel switching units 022 in the second area B2. In particular, if a larger number of light emission elements corresponding to the folding area are present, the pixel switching units in the first area of the non-folding area can be smaller in order to arrange all pixel switching units corresponding to the folding area in the non-folding area. Thus, the first area has both the pixel switching units for controlling the light emission elements corresponding to the first area and the pixel switching units for controlling the light emission elements corresponding to the folding area. If, on the other hand, only a small number of light-emitting elements corresponding to the folding region are present—for example, if there is only one row or column of light-emitting elements in the folding region—then the pixel circuit units corresponding to the folding region can be arranged in the first region, and simultaneously the coverage area of the pixel circuit units in the first region can be equal to the coverage area of the pixel circuit units in the second region. In one implementation, there is such a large distance between two adjacent pixel circuit units that the pixel circuit units corresponding to the folding region can be arranged in the adjacent first region without reducing the coverage area of the pixel circuit units.
[0027] In particular, in this embodiment of the invention, the pixel circuit units are configured to control the light emission elements in the display field in order to display an image. In one implementation, illustrated in Fig. Figure 4, which shows as an example a pixel driver circuit of an OLED display panel, the pixel circuit unit in particular comprises a driver transistor T1 and a switching transistor T2, wherein the driver transistor T1 is configured to drive a light-emitting element 20 to emit light, wherein a light emission brightness is determined by a voltage at a gate of the driver transistor T1, and the switching transistor T2 is configured to receive and transmit a signal and to transmit a required voltage signal to the gate of the driver transistor T1 before the light-emitting element emits light. Furthermore, VDD and VEE represent voltage sources configured to provide a high-level signal and a low-level signal, respectively, to the light-emitting elements, and a current for the light-emitting element 20 to deliver a display satisfies the following equation: lOLED=K∗WL(Vdate−VDD+Vth)2
[0028] Where I OLED for a current delivered to a light-emitting element, K for a constant, WL for the width / length ratio of the driver transistor T1, V date for a voltage on a data line, V DD for a positive constant voltage and V th represents a threshold voltage of the driver transistor.
[0029] If, in one embodiment, the area covered by each of the pixel circuit units in the first region is reduced such that the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the first region is higher than or equal to the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the second region, then the size of each of the driver transistors in the pixel circuit units in the first region can be further reduced, so that the width / length ratio of the driver transistor T1 can be changed or a storage capacity between the gate and source and drain of the driver transistor can be changed, which affects the current I delivered to the light-emitting element. OLED which can impair the display's effectiveness. To prevent the current I from... OLED The light emitted to the light emission elements is non-uniformly distributed to each other, and is displayed in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention. Fig. 5 each pixel circuit unit a driver transistor T1 and a switching transistor T2 (in Fig. (5 not illustrated) the length-width ratio of the driver transistor T11 in the first region B1 equals the length-width ratio of the driver transistor T12 in the second region B2 and the storage capacity between source and drain and the gate of the driver transistor T11 in the first region equals the storage capacity between source and drain and the gate of the driver transistor T12 in the second region, where the occupancy area of the driver transistor T11 in the first region B1 is smaller than the occupancy area of the driver transistor T12 in the second region B2.
[0030] It should be noted that the occupancy area of the driver transistor in the first area can alternatively be the same as the occupancy area of the driver transistor in the second area, i.e., the occupancy area of the pixel circuit unit can be changed without changing the occupancy area of the driver transistor.
[0031] Accordingly, if the size of the driver transistor in the first area is reduced, in the embodiment of the invention the size can be reduced as needed for a real application, as long as the length-width ratio of each of the driver transistors in the first area and in the second area is the same and the storage capacity between the gate and source and drain of each driver transistor in the first area and in the second area is the same.
[0032] In an implementation, according to Fig. 6A and Fig. 6B The display field according to the embodiment of the invention comprises a display area C and a side edge area D surrounding the display area C, wherein the display field includes: a substrate 01 and a plurality of light-emitting elements 20 arranged in a matrix on the substrate 01, each of which is assigned to and electrically connected to pixel circuit units, the light-emitting elements 20 being uniformly arranged in the display area C. Furthermore, in the second area B2, the pixel circuit units are each substantially vertically assigned to and electrically connected with the light-emitting elements 20, and in the first area B1, the pixel circuit units are each assigned to and electrically connected with the light-emitting elements 20.In particular, the light emission elements 20 are uniformly arranged in the display area C, that is, the folding area A also has the uniformly arranged light emission elements 20, the light emission elements 20 corresponding to the second area are each vertically assigned to the driver transistors in the pixel circuit units in the second area, the pixel circuit units configured to control the light emission elements 20 in the folding area A are arranged in the first area B1 adjacent to the folding area A, and the light emission elements 20 corresponding to the folding area and the first area are vertically spaced from the driver transistors and electrically connected to the driver transistors. As can be seen, in the embodiment of the invention the folding area has the light emission elements but not the pixel circuit units, so that no semiconductor material is arranged in the folding area, thus preventing damage to the elements during the bending of the folding area.
[0033] In particular according to Fig. 6B has a pixel circuit unit in the display field and a driver transistor electrically connected to the light emission element 20, wherein the display field, starting from the substrate 01, comprises the following in the order mentioned: a semiconductor active layer 211 on the substrate 01, wherein the semiconductor active layer has source regions and drain regions formed by doping with negative or positive foreign ions, as well as channel regions located between the source regions and the drain regions, the purity of which is not altered by doping; a gate insulating layer 212, gates 213, and an insulating intermediate layer 214 formed on the semiconductor active layer 211; and patterns of sources 215 and drains 216 formed on the insulating intermediate layer 214, wherein the sources 215 and the drains 216 are electrically connected to the gate insulating layer 212 and the insulating intermediate layer 214 by means of contact openings in the gate insulating layer 212 and the insulating intermediate layer 214. Source areas orthe drain regions in the semiconductor active layer are connected. The display field also has a passivation layer 217 and a planarization layer 218, which are arranged on the layers in which the sources 215 and the drains 216 are located. The display field also has connecting lines 22 electrically connected to the driver transistors T11 in the first region, wherein the respective driver transistors T1 in the first region B1 are electrically connected by the connecting lines 22 to the light emission elements 20 corresponding to the driver transistors, and the respective connecting lines 22 are arranged on the same layer and insulated from each other. In this embodiment of the invention, each driver transistor in the first region is electrically connected to a light-emitting element corresponding to the driver transistor by means of a connecting line arranged on the same layer. This allows the driver transistors to be arranged by simply adding a layer in the first region, thereby simplifying their manufacturing process and making the structure of the elements lighter and simpler. It should be noted that one or more rows or columns of light-emitting elements may be present in the folding region of the display area. Fig. Figure 6A illustrates a folding area with only two columns of light emission elements and Fig. 6B a schematic cross-sectional view of Fig. 6A along O-O1 is. In the Fig. In the structure shown in Figure 6B, the two light-emitting elements 20 in folded region A are electrically connected to their corresponding driver transistors by means of connecting lines arranged in the first regions to its left and right sides, the connecting lines being arranged on the same layer. In the embodiment of the invention, each driver transistor in the first region is electrically connected to the corresponding light-emitting element by means of a connecting line arranged on the same layer, so that the driver transistors can be arranged by simply adding a film layer in the first region, thereby simplifying their manufacturing process and making the structure of the elements lighter and simpler.
[0034] In another example, according to Fig. 7A In folding area A, four columns of light-emitting elements are present, i.e., a light-emitting element 204, a light-emitting element 205, a light-emitting element 206, and a light-emitting element 207. The light-emitting elements located in the same row in folding area A are connected by connecting lines in different rows. For example, the connecting line 221 connected to light-emitting element 204 is not in the same horizontal direction as the connecting line 222 connected to light-emitting element 205, and the connecting line 223 connected to light-emitting element 206 is not in the same horizontal direction as the connecting line 224 connected to light-emitting element 207. As shown in Fig. As illustrated in Figure 7A, each light-emitting element is electrically connected by a connecting line, a first through-hole 31 and a second through-hole 32, wherein the second through-hole 32 is a through-hole between the anode of the light-emitting element and the connecting line and the first through-hole 31 is a through-hole between the connecting line and the drain. Fig. Figure 7B specifically illustrates a schematic cross-sectional view of Fig. 7A along W-W1, wherein the four light-emitting elements in the folded region A are connected to their respective driver transistors via the connecting lines in the first region to its left and right sides, with all connecting lines being arranged on the same layer. Since connecting line 221 and connecting line 224 are not visible in the cross-sectional view along W-W1, Fig. 7B only shows the connection between the light-emitting element 205 and the connecting line 222, as well as the connection between the light-emitting element 206 and the connecting line 223. In the embodiment of the invention, each driver transistor in the first region is electrically connected to the corresponding light-emitting element by means of the connecting line arranged on the same layer, so that the driver transistors can be arranged by simply adding a film layer in the first region, thereby simplifying their manufacturing process and making the structure of the elements lighter and simpler.
[0035] Likewise, in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention, a plurality of rows or columns of light emission elements can be present in the folding area, which are each electrically connected to the driver transistors corresponding to the light emission elements by means of the connecting lines arranged on the same layer and insulated from each other.
[0036] It should be noted that the in Fig. 6A, Fig. 6B, Fig. 7A and Fig. Figure 7B illustrates a folding area extending vertically and featuring light emission elements arranged in the direction of the slits; however, the same principle applies to a folding area extending horizontally, so this will not be discussed again here.
[0037] In an implementation according to Fig. 6B and Fig. 7B the connecting lines 22 are arranged between the passivation layer 217 and the planarization layer 218, and the driver transistors T11 in the first region are electrically connected to the light-emitting elements 20 via the first through-holes passing through the passivation layer 217, the connecting lines 22, and the second through-holes passing through the planarization layer 218. Since the light-emitting elements 20 and the driver transistors T12 in the second region are vertically aligned, the driver transistors T12 in the second region are electrically connected to the light-emitting elements 20 via the fifth through-holes passing through the passivation layer 217 and the planarization layer 218.
[0038] In an implementation according to Fig. 8 the connecting lines 22 are arranged on the same layer as the gates 213, that is, between the insulating intermediate layer 214 and the gate insulating layer 212, and the connecting lines 22 are insulated from the gates 213, wherein the connecting lines 22 are electrically connected to the drains 216 through third through-holes 33 passing through the insulating intermediate layer 214 and the connecting lines 22 are electrically connected to the light emission elements 20 through fourth through-holes 34 passing through the planarization layer 218, the passivation layer 217 and the insulating intermediate layer 214.Thus, the connecting lines 22 can alternatively be arranged between the insulating layer 214 and the gate insulating layer 212, so that the driver transistors T1 in the first area are electrically connected to the light emission elements 20 through the third through-holes 33 passing through the insulating layer 214, the connecting lines 22 and the fourth through-holes 34 passing through the planarization layer 218, the passivation layer 217 and the insulating layer 214.
[0039] It should be noted that, according to the embodiment of the invention, the connecting lines can alternatively be arranged on a different layer and electrically connected to the light-emitting element via through-holes, although the embodiment of the invention is not limited in this respect. The connecting lines in the embodiment of the invention can be made of the same material as the sources or drains and the gates in the display field, or they can be made of molybdenum, titanium, or aluminum, although the embodiment of the invention is not limited in this respect. The embodiment of the invention is not limited to any specific width of the connecting lines.
[0040] In particular according to Fig. 6B, Fig. 7B or Fig. In the embodiment of the invention, the light emission element 20 comprises a first electrode layer 201, a pixel definition layer 202 and a second electrode layer 203, which are arranged on the planarization layer 218, as well as a light emission layer (not illustrated) arranged between the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer, wherein the first electrode layer 201 is electrically connected to the drain 216 in the first region B1 by the connecting line 22 and the first through-hole or by the connecting line 22, the third through-hole 33 and the fourth through-hole 34.The light-emitting layer can consist of a low molecular weight organic material or a macromolecular material. The light-emitting layer may include an organic emission layer and may further include at least one hole injection layer (HIL), one hole transport layer (HTL), one electron transport layer (ETL), and / or one electron injection layer (EIL). The first electrode layer and the second electrode layer may be transparent or reflective. If the first electrode layer is transparent, it may consist of indium tin oxide (ITO), indium zinc oxide (IZO), zinc oxide (ZnO), or indium oxide (In₂O₃), etc.If the first electrode layer is a reflective electrode, it can consist of Ag, Mg, Al, Pt, Pd, Au, Ni, Nd, Ir, Cr, or a mixture of these. If the second electrode layer is a transparent electrode, it can consist of, for example, lithium (Li), calcium (Ca), lithium / calcium fluoride (LiF / Ca), lithium / aluminium fluoride (LiF / Al), aluminum (Al), magnesium (Mg), silver (Ag), or a compound of these. This material can initially be deposited onto the light-emitting layer by evaporation, and the material of the transparent electrode, e.g., ITO, IZO, ZnO, In₂O₃, etc., can then be deposited onto the compound. If the second electrode is a reflective electrode, then the second electrode layer can be formed by evaporating Li, Ca, LiF / Ca, LiF / Al, Al, Mg, Ag or a mixture of these over the entire surface of the substrate.
[0041] In one possible implementation, the shape of the connecting lines according to the embodiment of the invention can be a zigzag pattern or a grid. Since the connecting lines must be arranged in the folding area, their shape can be a zigzag pattern or a grid, or the width of the connecting lines can be increased to prevent them from breaking while being bent in the folding area. Furthermore, if a larger number of light-emitting elements are present in the folding area, the shapes of the connecting lines linking the light-emitting elements to the driver transistors can differ from one another to prevent the connecting lines arranged on the same layer from interfering with each other.
[0042] In one implementation, the display field according to the embodiment of the invention further comprises: a plurality of signal lines electrically connected to the pixel circuit units, wherein the signal lines include a plurality of first signal lines extending in a first direction and a plurality of second signal lines extending in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, wherein the at least one folding area extends in the same direction as the first signal lines. In particular, according to Fig. 9 The display field has a foldable area A and a non-foldable area B, the display field comprising: a substrate 01, a plurality of light-emitting elements (in Fig. 9 not illustrated), a plurality of pixel circuit units 02 arranged in the non-foldable region B having at least one first region B1 and at least one second region B2 on the substrate 01, and a plurality of signal lines 03 electrically connected to the pixel circuit units 02, wherein the signal lines include a plurality of signal lines 031 extending in a first direction and a plurality of second signal lines 032 extending in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, wherein the at least one foldable region A extends in the same direction as the first signal lines 031.
[0043] In one embodiment, the first signal lines 031 in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention are scanning lines and the second signal lines 032 are data lines, or the first signal lines 031 are data lines and the second signal lines 032 are scanning lines.
[0044] The direction of extension of the folding area A can be the same as the direction of extension of the data lines, or the direction of extension of the folding area A can be the same as the direction of extension of the scanning lines. This is illustrated below. Fig. 9 merely that the extension direction of the folding area A is the same as the extension direction of the first data lines, however, the embodiment of the invention is not limited to the one described in Fig. The structure illustrated in section 9 is limited.
[0045] In particular, the pixel circuit unit has a driver transistor T1 and a switching transistor T2, and in the Fig. In the circuit diagram shown in Figure 4, the switching transistor T2 has a gate electrically connected to a sampling line and a source or drain electrically connected to a data line, so that the gate of the switching transistor T2 is activated by a sampling signal on the sampling line, so that the switching transistor provides a display signal on the data line to a light emission element in the display field.
[0046] The following describes in detail the structure of the display field according to the embodiment of the invention using an example in which the first signal lines are data lines, and the extension direction of the folding area is therefore the same as the extension direction of the data lines.
[0047] In order to achieve a higher distribution density for the pixel circuit units in the first area than for the pixel circuit units in the second area, in an implementation in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention, the distance between the data lines electrically connected to the pixel circuit units in the first area can be changed such that the distance between the adjacent pixel circuit units is reduced and the density of the pixel circuit units in the first area is increased. Fig. 10 The display field has a foldable area A and a non-foldable area B having a first area B1 and a second area B2, wherein in the first area B1 and in the second area B2 there are pixel circuit units 02 as well as electrically connected scanning lines 04 and data lines 05, and wherein switching transistors in the pixel circuit units 02 have gates electrically connected to scanning lines and sources electrically connected to data lines, and wherein the distance d1 between two adjacent data lines 05 in the first area B1 is shorter than the distance d2 between two adjacent data lines 05 in the second area B2.
[0048] Fig. Figure 10 merely illustrates the data lines 05 arranged in the non-folding area, however, the data lines 05 can alternatively be arranged in the folding area, and it should be noted that the pixel circuit units electrically connected to the data lines in the folding area must be arranged in the first area.
[0049] To achieve a higher distribution density for the pixel circuit units in the first area than for the pixel circuit units in the second area, the line width of the data lines in the first area, i.e., the line path width of the data lines, can optionally be further modified in an implementation in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention. In particular according to Fig. 11 The display field has a foldable area A and a non-foldable area B comprising a first area B1 and a second area B2, wherein pixel circuit units 02 and electrically connected scanning lines 04 and data lines 05 are located in the first area B1 and the second area B2, respectively. Driver transistors in the pixel circuit units 02 have gates electrically connected to the scanning lines 04 and sources electrically connected to the data lines 05. Furthermore, the line width of the data lines 05 in the first area B1 is smaller than the line width of the data lines 05 in the second area B2. It should be noted that, in the embodiment of the invention, the line width refers to the width of a laid line for a signal.
[0050] In order to prevent the resistance of the data lines in the first area from deviating from the resistance of the data lines in the second area after changing the line width of the data lines 5 in the first area and the associated difference between the loads applied to the data lines in the first area and the data lines in the second area, in the embodiment of the invention according to Fig. 12. The second area B2 further comprises: a resistive element R connected in series with the data line 05 in the second area, wherein each data line 05 in the second area B2 can be connected in series with a plurality of low-resistance resistors to obtain the same load for the data line in the second area as for the data line in the first area, or each data line 05 in the second area B2 can be connected in series with a high-resistance resistor to obtain the same load for the data line in the second area as for the data line in the first area. The resistance values and positions of the series-connected resistive elements can be adjusted in practice as required, although the embodiment of the invention is not limited in this respect.
[0051] It should be noted that in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention, the line width of the data lines in the first area can be reduced and at the same time the distance between two adjacent data lines in the first area is reduced in order to increase the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the first area.
[0052] In a specific embodiment of the invention, the distance between two adjacent data lines in the first region can be shortened and / or the line width of the data lines in the first region can be reduced in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention, so that the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the first region is increased. In one implementation, an improvement is made according to the principle that "the sum of the length of the folding area and the lengths of the respective pixel circuit units in the first regions on two sides of the folding area in the direction of the scanning lines is equal to the sum of the lengths of the same number of pixel circuit units in the second region in the direction of the scanning lines." For example, according to Fig. 13 the length L1 of the folding area A and the pixel switching units 02 in the first areas B1 on two sides of the folding area A in the direction of the scanning lines 04 is equal to the length L2 of the same number of pixel switching units 02 in the second area B2 in the direction of the scanning lines 04.
[0053] For pixel circuit units on each scanning line, the length of the pixel circuit units in the first region along the scanning lines and the length of the folding region along the scanning lines are equal to the length of the same number of pixel circuit units in the second region along the scanning lines. For example, if there are two pixel circuit units in the first region, the length of the two pixel circuit units along the scanning lines is L0, and the length of the folding region along the scanning lines is L3, then the length of the two pixel circuit units in the second region along the scanning lines is L2, where L0 + L3 = L2. For example, for a clear display, the pixel density in the second region can be 300 ppi, where the size of the pixel circuit units in the second region is 84.7 µm, and the width of the folding region is 0.6 mm.If 12 pixel circuit units must be arranged in the first areas on each of two sides of the folding area in order to control the light emission elements in the folding area and in the first areas for normal light emission, then the size of each pixel circuit unit in the first area is 59.7 µm and the density of the pixel circuit units in the first area is 425 ppi, where the size refers to the length in the direction of the scanning lines.
[0054] It should be noted that the size of the pixel circuit units may be smaller or unchanged in the direction of the data lines, although the embodiment of the invention is not limited in this respect.
[0055] In one implementation, the direction of extension of the folding area corresponds to the direction of extension of the data lines, while the direction of extension of the scanning lines is perpendicular to the direction of extension of the data lines; thus, the scanning lines are bent during the bending of the folding area. To improve the bending stability of the scanning lines during bending, the display field according to the embodiment of the invention is designed accordingly. Fig. 14. The line width of the scanning lines 04 in folding area A is greater than their line width in the non-folding area B. It should be noted that the line width here refers to the width of a laid line for a signal.
[0056] If data lines are present in the folding area, then, to prevent breakage of the data lines during bending, the width of the data lines in the folding area can also be appropriately increased, although the embodiment of the invention is not limited in this respect. The embodiment of the invention is not limited to any specific value for the width of the scanning lines in the folding area.
[0057] In one implementation, the direction of extension of the folding area corresponds to the direction of extension of the data lines, while the direction of extension of the scanning lines is perpendicular to the direction of extension of the data lines; thus, the scanning lines are bent during the bending of the folding area. To improve the bending stability of the scanning lines during bending, the shape of the scanning lines in the folding area of the display field, according to the embodiment of the invention, is a zigzag pattern or a grid. For example, according to Fig. 15. The shape of the scanning lines 04 in the folding region A around a grid is modified, and furthermore, the line width of the scanning lines 04 in the folding region A is greater than their line width in the non-foldable region B. Alternatively, only the shape of the scanning lines in the folding region or only the line width of the scanning lines in the folding region can be changed.
[0058] To improve the bending stability of the scanning lines in the folding region, one implementation can increase the length of the scanning lines in the folding region, whereby the length of the scanning lines in the folding region is achieved by changing the shape of the scanning lines as shown in Fig. 14 and Fig. 15 illustrated or can be increased in another way. In particular, the display field further comprises the following: a plurality of secondary electrically conductive conductors arranged at least in the folding area, wherein the plurality of secondary electrically conductive conductors is arranged on the same layer as the first signal lines and is insulated from the first signal lines, wherein each of the second signal lines is electrically connected to at least one secondary electrically conductive conductor through at least two through-holes in the folding area.
[0059] For example, according to Fig. 16 The display field according to the embodiment of the invention comprises: a semiconductor active layer 211 on the substrate 01, wherein the semiconductor active layer has source regions and drain regions formed by doping with negative or positive foreign ions, as well as channel regions located between the source regions and the drain regions, the purity of which is not altered by doping, a gate insulating layer 212, gates 213 and an insulating intermediate layer 214 formed on the semiconductor active layer 211, as well as patterns of sources 215 and drains 216 formed on the insulating intermediate layer 214, wherein the sources 215 and the drains 216 are electrically connected to the source regions and the drain regions in the semiconductor active layer, respectively, by means of contact openings in the gate insulating layer 212 and the insulating intermediate layer 214.The display field further comprises a passivation layer 217 and a planarization layer 218, which are arranged on the layers in which the sources 215 and the drains 216 are located. In addition, scanning lines 04 are present in the folding region of the display field, which are arranged on the same layer as the gates 213.Furthermore, the display field has the following: a plurality of secondary electrically conductive conductors 06 arranged at least in the folding area A, wherein the plurality of secondary electrically conductive conductors 06 are arranged on the same layer as the data lines and are insulated from the data lines, wherein each scanning line 04 is electrically connected to at least one secondary electrically conductive conductor 06 through at least two through-openings (one through-opening 36 and one through-opening 37) in the folding area.In the embodiment of the invention, each driver transistor in the first region is electrically connected to the light emission element corresponding to the driver transistor by means of the connecting line arranged on the same layer, so that the driver transistors can be arranged by simply adding a film layer in the first region, thereby simplifying their manufacturing process and making the structure of the elements lighter and simpler.
[0060] Specifically, in the embodiment of the invention, the direction of extension of the folding area corresponds to the direction of extension of the data lines. Within the folding area, a plurality of secondary electrically conductive conductors arranged on the same layer as the data lines can be arranged, and the secondary electrically conductive conductors are electrically connected to the scanning lines by at least two through-openings arranged between the secondary electrically conductive conductors and the scanning lines. If the direction of extension of the folding area corresponds to the direction of extension of the scanning lines, a plurality of secondary electrically conductive conductors arranged on the same layer as the scanning lines can be arranged within the folding area, and the secondary electrically conductive conductors are electrically connected to the data lines by at least two through-openings arranged between the secondary electrically conductive conductors and the data lines.
[0061] The following describes in detail the structure of the display field according to the embodiment of the invention using an example in which the first signal lines are scanning lines, and the extension direction of the folding area is therefore the same as the extension direction of the scanning lines.
[0062] In order to achieve a higher distribution density for the pixel circuit units in the first area than for the pixel circuit units in the second area, in an implementation in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention, the distance between the data lines electrically connected to the pixel circuit unit in the first area can be changed such that the distance between the adjacent pixel circuit units is reduced and the density of the pixel circuit units in the first area is increased. Fig. 17 The display field has a foldable area A and a non-foldable area B having a first area B1 and a second area B2, wherein in the first area B1 and in the second area B2 there are pixel circuit units 02 as well as electrically connected scanning lines 04 and data lines 05, and wherein switching transistors in the pixel circuit units 02 have gates electrically connected to scanning lines 04 and sources electrically connected to data lines 05, and wherein the distance d5 between two adjacent scanning lines 04 in the first area B1 is shorter than the distance d6 between two adjacent scanning lines 04 in the second area B2.
[0063] Fig. Figure 17 illustrates a distribution situation for only a part of the scanning lines 04 in the folding area and in the non-folding area in the display field; however, a large number of folding areas and a large number of non-folding areas may be present in the entire display field. Fig. 17 only the scanning lines 04 arranged in the non-folding area B, wherein the scanning lines 04 may also be arranged in the folding area A, but the pixel circuit units electrically connected to the scanning lines must be arranged in the first area B1.
[0064] In order to achieve a higher distribution density for the pixel circuit units in the first area than for the pixel circuit units in the second area, the line width of the scanning lines 04 in the first area, i.e., the line width of the data lines 04, can be further modified in an implementation in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention. In particular, according to Fig. 18 The display field has a foldable area A and a non-foldable area B comprising a first area B1 and a second area B2, wherein pixel circuit units 02 and electrically connected scanning lines 04 and data lines 05 are located in the first area B1 and the second area B2, respectively. Switching transistors in the pixel circuit units 02 have gates electrically connected to the scanning lines 04 and sources electrically connected to the data lines 05. Furthermore, the line width of the scanning lines 04 in the first area B1 is smaller than the line width of the scanning lines 04 in the second area B2. It should be noted that, in this embodiment of the invention, the line width refers to the width of a laid line for a signal.
[0065] In order to prevent the resistance of the scanning lines 04 in the first area from deviating from the resistance of the scanning lines 04 in the second area after changing the line width of the scanning lines 04 in the first area and the associated difference between the loads applied to the scanning lines 04 in the first area and the scanning lines 04 in the second area, in the embodiment of the invention according to Fig. 19 The second area B2 further comprises: resistive elements R connected in series with the scanning lines 04 in the second area B2, wherein each scanning line 04 in the second area B2 can be connected in series with a plurality of low-resistance resistors to obtain the same load for the scanning lines 04 in the second area as for the scanning lines 04 in the first area, or each scanning line 04 in the second area B2 can be connected in series with a high-resistance resistor to obtain the same load for the scanning lines 04 in the second area as for the scanning lines 04 in the first area. The resistance values and positions of the series-connected resistive elements can be adjusted in practice as required, but the embodiment of the invention is not limited in this respect.
[0066] It should be noted that in the display field according to the embodiment of the invention, the line width of the scanning lines in the first area can be reduced and at the same time the distance between two adjacent scanning lines in the first area is reduced in order to increase the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the first area.
[0067] In one embodiment of the invention, the distance between two adjacent data lines in the first region of the display field can be shortened and / or the line width of the data lines in the first region reduced, thus increasing the distribution density of the pixel circuit units in the first region. In one implementation, an improvement is achieved according to the principle that "the sum of the length of the folding region and the lengths of the respective pixel circuit units in the first regions on two sides of the folding region in the direction of the data lines is equal to the sum of the lengths of the same number of pixel circuit units in the second region in the direction of the data lines." For example, according to Fig. 20 the length L3 of the folding area and the respective pixel switching units 02 in the first areas B1 on two sides of the folding area A in the direction of the data lines 05 is equal to the length L4 of the same number of pixel switching units 02 in the second area B2 in the direction of the data lines 05.
[0068] In one implementation, the direction of extension of the folding area corresponds to the direction of extension of the scanning lines, and the direction of extension of the scanning lines is perpendicular to the direction of extension of the data lines. Thus, the data lines are bent while the folding area is bent. To improve the bending stability of the data lines during bending, the display field according to the embodiment of the invention is designed accordingly. Fig. 21 the line width of the data lines 05 in folding area A is greater than their line width in non-folding area B.
[0069] If scanning lines are present in the folding area, then, in order to prevent breakage of the scanning lines during bending, the width of the scanning lines in the folding area can also be suitably increased, although the embodiment of the invention is not limited in this respect. The embodiment of the invention is not limited to any specific value for the width of the scanning lines in the folding area.
[0070] In one implementation, the direction of extension of the folding area corresponds to the direction of extension of the scanning lines, and the direction of extension of the scanning lines is perpendicular to the direction of extension of the data lines. Thus, the data lines are bent while the folding area is bent. To improve the bending stability of the data lines during bending, the shape of the data lines in the folding area of the display field, according to the embodiment of the invention, is a zigzag pattern or a grid. For example, according to Fig. 22. The shape of the data lines 05 in folding area A has a zigzag pattern, and furthermore, the line width of the data lines 05 in folding area A is greater than their line width in the non-foldable area B. Alternatively, only the shape of the data lines in the folding area or only the line width of the data lines in the folding area can be changed.
[0071] To improve the bending stability of the data lines in the folding area, one implementation can increase the length of the data lines in the folding area, whereby the length of the data lines in the folding area is achieved by changing the shape of the data lines as in Fig. 22 illustrates or can be increased in other ways. For example, according to Fig. 23 The display field according to the embodiment of the invention comprises: a semiconductor active layer 211 on the substrate 01, wherein the semiconductor active layer has source regions and drain regions formed by doping with negative or positive foreign ions, as well as channel regions located between the source regions and the drain regions, the purity of which is not altered by doping, a gate insulating layer 212, gates 213 and an insulating intermediate layer 214 formed on the semiconductor active layer 211, as well as patterns of sources 215 and drains 216 formed on the insulating intermediate layer 214, wherein the sources 215 and the drains 216 are electrically connected to the source regions and the drain regions in the semiconductor active layer, respectively, by means of contact openings in the gate insulating layer 212 and the insulating intermediate layer 214.The display field further comprises a passivation layer 217 and a planarization layer 218, which are arranged on the layers in which the sources 215 and the drains 216 are located. The display field also has connecting lines 22 electrically connected to the driver transistors T11 in the first region, wherein the respective driver transistors T1 in the first region B1 are electrically connected by the connecting lines 22 to the light-emitting elements 20 corresponding to the driver transistors, and the respective connecting lines 22 are arranged on the same layer and insulated from each other. In addition, data lines 05 are present in the folding region of the display field, which are arranged on the same layer as the sources 215 and the drains 216.Furthermore, the display field comprises the following: a plurality of secondary electrically conductive conductors 06 arranged at least in the folding area A, wherein the plurality of secondary electrically conductive conductors 06 are arranged on the same layer as the scanning lines and are insulated from the scanning lines, wherein each of the data lines 05 is electrically connected to at least one secondary electrically conductive conductor 06 by means of at least two through-openings (one through-opening 36 and one through-opening 37 extending through the insulating intermediate layer) in the folding area. It should be noted that the secondary electrically conductive conductors can alternatively be made of a different electrically conductive layer on the display field, although the embodiment of the invention is not limited to this.
[0072] In one embodiment, the display field according to the embodiment of the invention further comprises the following: scanning driver circuits arranged in the side edge region and electrically connected to the respective scanning lines, wherein the scanning driver circuits are arranged in the non-foldable area. In particular according to Fig. 24 The display field has a folding area A and a non-folding area B, the extension direction of the folding area A corresponds to the extension direction of the scanning line 04, and the side edge area D of the display field has the following: scanning driver circuits 08 electrically connected to the respective scanning lines 04 and arranged in the non-folding area B. For example, the scanning driver circuits 08 include the scanning driver circuits 08 arranged on the upper and lower sides of the folding area A, wherein the upper scanning driver circuit and the lower scanning driver circuit are electrically connected, and conductors connecting the upper and lower scanning driver circuits are arranged in the folding area. However, in the embodiment of the invention, an improvement corresponding to the implementation of the scanning lines or the data lines in the folding area can be made; therefore, this will not be discussed again here.
[0073] In the display field according to the embodiment of the invention, in one embodiment the length of the scanning driver circuits in the direction of the second signal lines (the data lines) is equal to the length of the respective pixel circuit units, which are electrically connected to the first signal lines (the scanning lines) that are in turn connected to the scanning driver circuits, in the direction of the second signal lines. For example, according to Fig. 24 The sampler circuits 08 each comprise a plurality of subordinate sampler circuits, each of which is connected to a corresponding sample line. The non-folding region B has a first region B1 and a second region B2. Pixel circuit units 021 are arranged in the first region B1, and pixel circuit units 022 are arranged in the second region B2. The subordinate sampler circuits include a first subordinate sampler circuit 081, which is assigned to the sample line 04 electrically connected to the pixel circuit unit 021 in the first region B1, and a second subordinate sampler circuit 082, which is assigned to the sample line 04 electrically connected to the pixel circuit unit 022 in the second region B2.The (sum) lengths of the first subordinate sampler circuits 081 are essentially equal to the (sum) lengths of the respective pixel circuit units in the first area in the direction of the data lines, and the (sum) lengths of the second subordinate sampler circuits 082 are essentially equal to the (sum) lengths of the respective pixel circuit units in the second area in the direction of the data lines, as in . Fig. 24 illustrated.
[0074] It should be noted that in the embodiment of the invention the Fig. Figure 24 merely illustrates a series of pixel circuit units arranged on two sides of the folding area in each of the two first regions. However, in an implementation, a plurality of rows of pixel circuit units may be present in each first region, and the sum of the lengths of the first subordinate sampler circuits configured to drive the plurality of pixel circuit units is essentially equal to the sum of the lengths of the plurality of rows of pixel circuit units in the direction of the data lines. Furthermore, the sum of the lengths of the second subordinate sampler circuits corresponding to the plurality of rows of pixel circuit units in the second region is essentially equal to the sum of the lengths of the plurality of rows of pixel circuit units in the direction of the data lines. Fig. Figure 24 merely illustrates the scanning driver circuits arranged on the left and right sides of the display area, but the embodiment of the invention is not limited to the display field structure as shown in Figure 24. Fig. Figure 24 illustrates this in a limited way. Accordingly, the scanning driver circuits in the display field, according to the embodiment of the invention, can be arranged only on the left side of the display area or only on the right side of the display area, so that the scanning lines are scanned using only the scanning driver circuits on that side. However, the embodiment of the invention is not limited to this. Furthermore, if the folding direction is the extension direction of the data lines, data line driver circuits configured to control the respective data lines can also be arranged according to the same pattern as mentioned above, so that the pattern after their arrangement will not be discussed again here.
[0075] It should be noted that, according to the embodiment of the invention, the display field can be a display field made of organic light-emitting diodes, electronic paper, or another type of display field.
