Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an adaptive control device, in particular in a vehicle. It further relates to a method for operating an adaptive operating device, in particular in a vehicle.Due to the increasing availability of electronic devices, in particular in modern motor vehicles, a need arises for devices for their operation, wherein a high range of functions and easy adaptability are required. Known solutions are implemented, for example, with the aid of touchscreens, which can offer practically any number of functions. However, the user does not receive haptic feedback during operation by tap or swiping gestures on a smooth surface, so that he has to spend greater attention for the operation. When operating a variety of functions using mechanical controllers and buttons, as provided, for example, in an aircraft cockpit, the large number of control elements required frequently leads to an ambiguous arrangement. In order to equip a display with a haptically perceptible feedback, it is known to set the display into oscillation in a targeted manner and thus to generate the feel of a surface texture on the part of the user (see, for example: https: / / www.mobilegeeks.de / article / testtouchscreen-with-haptic feedback-from-bosch / ; retrieved on 12.07.2018). It is also known to configure a surface to be movable by arranging elongate elements that can be moved in height in a matrix (see, for example: http: / / www.thisiscolosal.com / 2013 / 11 / inform-an-interactive-dynamic-shape-display-thermally-renderers-3d-content / ; called on 12.07.2018).DE 10 2004 005 501 A1 discloses an input device having at least one mechanical input element and an associated control method. The input device is designed as an input surface with a plurality of individually movable pins, which can be controlled by an evaluation and control unit depending on the context in order to form the at least one input element, i.e. can be adapted as required. It is possible to make several pins and to let them form a key with a certain shape.US 2011 / 0 304 550 A1 describes an adaptive user interface device that is capable of implementing multiple input and configuration modes and can adapt to current user inputs and include configuration changes. In one aspect, an adaptive user interface device may be configured for finger sensing in a touchpad mode and for stylus detection in a digital tablet mode. In another aspect, surface features of the adaptive user interface device may change shape, for example, by raising keys in response to invoking a keyboard or keyboard mode. Various mechanisms may be used to raise buttons and may enable buttons to be presented in a variety of shapes and positions on the interface. The configuration of the adaptive user interface device may depend on the user actions and the user identity. Configuration modes can be organized in many levels so that a single user interface can support a large number of input options within a limited interface. The present invention is based on the object of providing an adaptive operating device and a method for its operation which can be used as flexibly as possible to make inputs for a plurality of functions.According to the invention, this object is achieved by an operating device having the features of claim 1 and a method having the features of claim 9. Advantageous embodiments and refinements emerge from the dependent claims. The adaptive operating device according to the invention comprises a context acquisition unit which is configured to acquire context data, and a control unit which is configured to generate configuration data on the basis of the context data. It further comprises a plurality of adjusting elements movable along a degree of freedom and an input detection unit configured to detect a force acting on the adjusting elements. It also comprises an adjusting device which is configured to set a configuration of the adjusting elements on the basis of the configuration data. In this case, in the configuration, a subset of the actuating elements can be coupled in such a way that the movement of the coupled actuating elements is synchronized, wherein in the case of different configurations actuating elements of different subsets can be coupled to one another. In this way, the adjusting elements can advantageously be flexibly coupled in such a way that they can be identified and operated as separate units. The invention makes it possible to connect together partial quantities of the adjusting elements practically at will and to design this coupling to be clearly detectable by the user as well. By synchronizing the movement of coupled adjusting elements, the coupling becomes particularly clearly detectable visually, tactially or otherwise. In this way, the user can be decided on various functions in such a way that he can feel the associated operating elements. Operating elements can be provided depending on the situation and depending on the context at a current point in time, wherein unnecessary complexity can furthermore be avoided by superfluous elements. The operating device can also be adapted to a user, which improves the ergonomy and the convenience of operation. The "context" with respect to which the context data is acquired can be described in the invention on the basis of various parameters. It relates in particular to the state in which the device is operated. For example, the device can be comprised by a vehicle, wherein the context in this case can be defined by a state of the vehicle or a device of the vehicle. In other applications, such as when the device is used with a user's mobile device or computer, the context may depend on the state of the mobile device or other device essential to the operation of the device. The context data are formed, for example, depending on which user device the device is connected to.The coupled subset comprises in particular actuating elements which are arranged next to one another. It can further comprise adjusting elements in a regular arrangement, for example every second adjusting element of a set of adjusting elements arranged side by side; in this case, for example, a movement of mutually offset subsets of the adjusting elements can be synchronized. In the invention, a synchronized movement of coupled adjusting elements is understood to mean that at least a subset of the adjusting elements is controlled such that the adjusting elements of the subset move in a coordinated manner. The movements of the individual adjusting elements are matched to one another in such a way that they can be perceived as coupled. For example, a uniform movement can be provided, the adjusting elements can be oriented relative to one another or can move with a specific temporal and / or spatial offset relative to one another. This can be configured, for example, such that all the adjusting elements of the subset move only simultaneously at the same speed and in the same direction. Furthermore, the movements of the individual adjusting elements can be in a fixed relationship to one another, for example in that a first adjusting element always moves half as fast as a further adjusting element coupled thereto. The movements of the adjusting elements can also be offset with respect to one another in time, for example in that one adjusting element follows the movement of another adjusting element only after a certain delay. The actuating elements can be moved actively and passively, i.e. a force acting on them from the outside can lead to a (passive) movement along the degree of freedom and the (active) movement can be triggered by the actuating device. In this case, the coupling of the actuating elements takes place by means of the actuating device, by means of which the movement of the actuating elements can be actively influenced. In particular, the adjusting elements can be moved, i.e. displaced and / or rotated, by one degree of freedom individually or in partial amounts of the entire set of adjusting elements. The adjusting device is configured in a manner known per se and comprises an actuator system with, for example, linear motors, "artificial muscles", for example shape memory alloys or electroactive polymers, or with other techniques. The adjusting elements can be movable as a whole, that is to say an adjusting element is displaced and / or rotated as a whole. Alternatively or additionally, a deformation can be provided, which can be parameterized in different ways. For example, a deformation by displacement can be provided, for example by the ends of an elongate adjusting element being compressed and a curvature thereby being produced; here, for example, an amplitude of the curvature, an angle of curvature, an amplitude of the deformation or another value can be selected as a degree of freedom of movement or as a parameter for describing and controlling it, so that this can also be described as a movement along a degree of freedom. In the invention, the "configuration" of the adjusting elements defines parameters for at least a subset of the adjusting elements. In particular, the configuration comprises an n-tuple of values of a specific parameter for a number n of actuating elements. These parameters comprise, for example, their positions and / or alignments, absolutely or relative to one another, information about which actuating elements are coupled to one another, and optionally further parameters relating to the actuating elements. In one embodiment of the operating device according to the invention, the actuating device is configured to move at least a subset of the actuating elements to a specific position when the configuration is adjusted. In particular, the coupled adjusting elements are moved synchronously. In this way, a configuration with starting positions can be produced in such a way that associated adjusting elements can be easily detected and sensed. In this case, the actuating elements can form, in particular, an operating surface. In the sense of the invention, positions are understood to be characterized by at least one parameter of the spatial arrangement, for example by one-, two- or three-dimensional coordinates or angles or combinations thereof. The term "position" in the sense of the invention can also be understood as a pose of an adjusting element, i.e. a description of the position and orientation of the adjusting elements in space. The positions can furthermore be indicated in an absolute coordinate system, for example of the vehicle or of the actuating device, or in relative coordinates, for example relative to one another. The detection of the force takes place in a manner known per se. It can be provided in particular that a force or that portion of a force is detected which acts along the degree of freedom along which the adjusting elements are movable. If this is a degree of freedom of translation in a specific direction, the detection of the force can be limited to translatory forces acting along this direction. With a degree of freedom of rotation about a specific axis, a torque and forces that occur during this rotation can be detected. Alternatively or additionally, further forces or forces can be detected in other directions, for example a direction perpendicular to a translation direction.A force sensor can be used; alternatively or additionally, sensors can also be provided for detecting a movement of the actuating elements, as a result of which conclusions can be drawn about a force. For example, the input detection unit can be designed such that a position, speed and / or acceleration of the actuating elements are detected when the force is detected. This detection can be detected and evaluated for individual adjusting elements or combinations thereof, wherein in particular a force acting on coupled adjusting elements is detected. In the case of a coupling of actuating elements, a force which acts on at least one of the coupled actuating elements can be considered to act on the entire coupled subset, which leads, for example, to a synchronous movement of the coupled actuating elements.During the detection of the force, different parameters can be evaluated as user inputs: for example, the strength and / or direction of a force exerted on the actuating elements can be detected. Furthermore, a deflection of the adjusting elements can be detected, in particular by causing a displacement of the adjusting elements by the force. For example, a position value along a straight line can be detected and specific detected values can be assigned to the positions of an adjusting element. The position can be detected by means of different coordinates, for example in a Cartesian coordinate system or by means of polar coordinates or other methods. In one embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the adjusting elements are automatically displaced and possibly resistance forces are detected counter to the direction of movement. When a threshold value of the resistance force is reached, the movement of an adjusting element is ended. By moving the actuators simultaneously until the threshold value is reached, the actuators can achieve a configuration with respective positions to conform to the contours of an object preventing movement. In addition, it can be provided that a permanent force is exerted on the object, for example in order to retain it. In this case, the set configuration does not include predetermined positions of the adjusting elements, but requests for finding the positions, adapted to the shape of the object.According to the invention, the adjusting elements are configured flat and the degree of freedom along which they are movable runs along a surface extension direction of the adjusting elements. As a result, a plurality of flat elements can advantageously be flexibly combined to form different operating elements. The adjusting elements can be designed, for example, as ribs or ribs. The arrangement can be effected in particular analogously to the frame construction which is known, for example, from shipbuilding and aircraft construction. Flat or elongated elements, referred to as ribs or ribs, are arranged parallel to one another in such a way that they produce a three-dimensional body and a surface is defined in particular by their outlines. Such a surface is understood as a geometric surface defined by the outlines or parts of the outlines. For example, a plurality of flat adjusting elements can be arranged with respect to one another such that their planar extents form parallel surfaces and the distances between the adjusting elements is less than a predefined threshold value, in particular at most 1 cm, preferably at most 0.5 cm, further preferably at most 0.2 cm. Alternatively or additionally, at least a subset of the actuating elements can substantially directly adjoin one another without a substantial distance being formed. In particular, it is provided that the adjusting elements have a uniform distance from one another. In the invention, the adjusting elements can have an outline, in particular outlines running at least partially identically, wherein at least some of the outline edges can form a common surface of the device. The adjusting elements can be flat and arranged such that their planar extent runs substantially perpendicular to the surface formed by the contour edges. Furthermore, it can be provided that the planar extent has at least one component which runs parallel to the surface. In a further embodiment, it is provided that the adjusting elements are movable along exactly one degree of freedom. For example, all the adjusting elements can be displaced only parallel to one another along a specific axis or can be rotated about the same axis or about parallel axes. This advantageously reduces the complexity of the operation and facilitates the synchronization of the movement of the actuating elements, since only uniform movements of the actuating elements have to be synchronized. In particular, it is provided that the movement of the actuating elements in each case comprises a translation along a direction which runs along a degree of freedom parallel to the surface of the operating device. According to the invention, a surface of the operating device is designed as an operating surface and the degree of freedom runs parallel to the latter. For example, the operating device can be arranged in a vehicle such that the degree of freedom along which a movement of the actuating elements can be carried out runs parallel to the vehicle longitudinal direction or the forward direction of the travel movement of the vehicle. The context acquisition unit is designed in a manner known per se such that it can acquire data about a context in which the operating device is operated. It can be designed, for example, as an interface to a computer or another device, which in turn has data relating to the context or whose state defines a context. For example, the context data can comprise information about a program state, in particular about a state of an operating interface. In a further embodiment, it is provided that the context data comprise a program state of an application program which is executed by a computer. A program state can be, for example, a call to a specific application program or a specific function, or a request for an input, in particular for an input by means of a specific type of operating element. Different program states can then be defined, for example, by a number, arrangement and type of operating elements, for example sliders, buttons or touch-sensitive surfaces of a specific shape. In one configuration of the invention, the operating device further comprises a display area which is configured to output a graphical operating surface. The adjusting elements are arranged such that they form an extension of the graphical user interface. As a result, the graphical user interface on the display surface can advantageously be supplemented by a mechanical adaptive user interface.Alternatively or additionally, it can be provided that operating elements are displayed in the graphical user interface and the configuration of the actuating elements is formed such that the graphically represented operating elements are also physically provided by the adaptive user interface in a similar manner. For example, a display on a central display, in a instrument cluster or on a head-up display can comprise operating elements in a specific arrangement, wherein corresponding operating elements are likewise generated in this arrangement by the configuration of the actuating elements.A "graphical user interface" in the sense of the invention is referred to as a representation for a human-machine interface. Technical devices can be operated by means of operating elements, for which purpose buttons or symbols of the representation can be used, for example. In particular, the user interface can comprise switching and user control elements which represent the user control of a functionality detectable for a human. For example, the amount of a parameter can be represented and its setting visualized by an adjusting element. The user interface can further comprise elements for information display and thus enable output interpretable by a human. The input is effected, for example, by means of a touchscreen or other input devices, for example by means of a cursor which is controlled by a mouse, a touchpad, a joystick or a rotary push actuator. In particular, the graphical user interface can be designed dynamically, that is to say it can change over time, for example by a continuous update of parameters represented or a movement of graphical elements. In the context of the invention, an "extension" of the graphical user interface is generally understood to mean an extension of the user interface by means of the actuating elements. In particular, the adjusting elements can be arranged adjacent to the display or at a small distance therefrom, which is approximately at most 20 cm, preferably at most 5 cm. In particular, no further operating elements are arranged between the display and the adjusting elements. The impression of an extension can be generated in that the graphical user interface comprises a representation of user elements, the extension of which appears to go beyond the available display area and continues in the arrangement of the actuating elements. In particular, a subset of the actuating elements is coupled in such a way that a spatial extent of the coupled actuating elements corresponds to a visible continuation of operating elements output on the display surface. For example, operating elements of the graphical user interface can be elongated and run in the direction of the adjusting elements arranged relative to the display surface. Actuating elements located in the extension of the illustrated operating elements can then be used as associated, coupled mechanical operating elements, as a result of which they can be assigned to specific elements of the graphical operating surface in the opposite direction. The operating device can therefore comprise mechanical operating elements which are realized by flexibly interconnected and coupled adjusting elements. In particular, this provides a geometrically flexible surface, on the basis of which a user can touch and mechanically operate the operating elements. This distinguishes the invention from touch screens which can represent operating elements on the basis of the states of individual pixels, but which do not act mechanically. In one development, the context data comprise output data and the configuration data are formed as a function of the output data. As a result, it is advantageously possible to implement a visually and / or tactilely perceptible output by means of mechanical actuating elements. The configuration of the adjusting elements can also be designed dynamically in this case, for example by virtue of positions of the adjusting elements changing once or periodically, for example in order to output a vibration or in order to represent a "shaking" operating element. In a further embodiment, an identification unit is further provided, which is configured to identify a user, and the context data comprise information about the identified user. In particular, the information about the identified user is understood as part of the information about the program state. As a result, particularly ergonomic operating elements adapted to the requirements of a specific user can be advantageously generated. The identification of the user can be effected in a manner known per se, for example by an input of the user, by a detection of biometric data, for example by a camera or a fingerprint sensor, or by means of a personal unit, for example a specific key or a mobile device of a user. The identity of a user can be understood to mean his individual person or his belonging to a specific group of persons, for example a group of persons with specific authorisations for using the vehicle. During the identification, a stored data record can also be accessed, wherein in this case the identification corresponds in the assignment of the user to a specific data record. The same person can therefore access different identities in the sense of the operating device, for example in order to define different user profiles for the same person. The information about the identified user is acquired, for example, on the basis of a stored data record, wherein an interface to an external device, for example a personal mobile device, an external server or a social network, can be provided. The information thus acquired can comprise data relating to the ergonomic nature and / or to personal preferences of the user. For example, height, age, sex, preferred settings, or other information may be included. In one embodiment, a specific configuration of the actuating elements is set after the identification of a user. For example, the actuators may be positioned such that controls are arranged to be easily, ergonomically and conveniently accessible at the specific length of the user's arm. Alternatively or additionally, a user can specify preferred positions for operating elements and these can optionally be stored in a user profile in order to access them at a later point in time.In one embodiment, it is further provided that, in a specific configuration, the adjusting elements are positioned in such a way that an arm or hand rest for the user is produced. The adjusting elements can be actively automatically moved to a specific configuration with specific positions or they can be moved passively by the user into a position suitable for him. Further, such a configuration passively set by the user's operation may be stored and retrieved at a later time.In one embodiment, the configuration further comprises a displacement resistance profile and a braking or accelerating force on the actuators is adjustable based on the displacement resistance profile. As a result, when setting the configuration, the dynamics of operation can advantageously be predefined by means of the actuating elements. Furthermore, a perceptible feedback can advantageously be output during the operation of an operating element, for example in that the user feels a higher resistance when higher values of a parameter are reached or discrete values can be detected in a tactile manner. The displacement resistance profile defines in particular a force as a function of a specific configuration of individual or multiple actuating elements. For example, the resistance that a user must overcome to move an actuator can be adjusted. This resistance can vary depending on the position at which an adjusting element or a subset of coupled adjusting elements is located. Alternatively or additionally, the resistance can depend on the speed at which the adjusting elements are moved or the speed at which this speed changes, that is to say the extent to which they are accelerated. In this way, for example, accidental actuations can be avoided by braking movements above a certain speed or acceleration by a higher opposing force. For example, the resistance may be greater the further the actuators are displaced in a particular direction. In this case, a force acts counter to the movement, the amplitude of which depends on the deflection. Furthermore, a force can be generated in the direction of movement, for example to support a deflection in a specific direction. In this way, for example, a "jumping" can be implemented, in which deflected adjusting elements are automatically (further) displaced to a specific position. The configuration of the adjusting elements can therefore also comprise settings of the resistance, wherein these settings can relate to a single adjusting element or a group of adjusting elements, in particular adjusting elements coupled to one another. In a further embodiment, the displacement resistance profile is designed such that resting points are formed in the case of at least two deflections of an actuating element. As a result, certain positions of the adjusting elements can be distinguished. In particular, the "rest points" are designed as potential minima, that is to say an actuating element remains at rest when a rest point is reached, while in a local environment it experiences a force acting towards the rest point and is optionally moved to the rest point. As a result, for example, discrete parameters can be set, for example in the case of a setting in steps, in contrast to a continuously variable setting in which the actuating elements can come to rest in any desired positions. In further embodiments, an inverse resistance profile may be formed in which individual deflections of the actuators are formed as "repulsive points" in which a force acting away from the point acts on the actuators. In a development, a surface of the actuating elements is at least partially touch-sensitive. This advantageously allows a touch-sensitive surface, for example in the manner of a touchscreen or touchpad, to be formed on a surface of the operating device and to be provided with a variably adjustable surface geometry. The touch-sensitive surface is formed in a manner known per se, in particular by means of a surface with capacitive sensors, by means of which a position of a touch or close approach of a hand or of another operating element can be detected. Other principles may be used for detecting the touch, for example, by means of a heat flow from the hand to the operating device, through a resistive sensor or in another way. In this case, a duration of the touch and / or a change in the location of the touch as a function of time can furthermore be detected, for example in order to detect gestures with a movement along the touch-sensitive surface. In particular, conductive elements can be provided for the touch-sensitive surface, which are arranged on the actuating elements or are integrated therein and by means of which a touch on the surface can be detected at another position within the operating device by means of a sensor. For example, it is known from DE 10 2017 200 595 A1 to detect touches on the free-form surface via a plurality of switching elements which are arranged between a free-form surface and a sensor surface. According to this principle, it can be provided in the adaptive control surface of the invention that, for example, metallic pins extend from the surface of the adjusting elements facing the user to a sensor surface. The sensor surface can be arranged on another side of the adjusting elements, for example on a base surface over which the adjusting elements can be moved. In particular, the region of the surface which is configured to be touch-sensitive depends on the configuration of the actuating elements relative to the sensor surface. It may be sufficient to use a fixed sensor surface for the device instead of providing individual adjusting elements with their own components for detecting contacts; this allows a considerable reduction in the costs which arise,In one embodiment, the device further comprises a covering element, by means of which a continuous surface can be produced. In this way, a uniform surface can be provided. The covering element is formed in a manner known per se, in particular as a flexible, thin and sufficiently rigid layer. In the case of a flat configuration of the adjusting elements, the covering element can extend, for example, over a surface formed by the edge surfaces of the adjusting elements. Gaps between the adjusting elements can be spanned in such a way that they can still be felt and visible individually. The tension element can, however, also be designed such that gaps spanned by them become invisible. In a further embodiment, the apparatus further comprises an air conditioning unit and the configuration data comprises settings of the air conditioning unit. In this way, a particularly simple operation and a particularly compact structure of the air-conditioning unit can advantageously be achieved. For example, outflow devices can be provided which are arranged, for example, in intermediate spaces between the actuating elements or which use the intermediate spaces themselves as outflow element. Alternatively or additionally, outflow devices can be integrated into the actuating elements, for example by means of channels. In these cases, air with certain parameters flows through the operating device, in particular through a surface formed by the operating device, which is possibly spanned by a suitably permeable covering element. The intensity, direction, temperature or another parameter of the outflowing air can be adjusted, in particular by the movement of the adjusting elements or their position. For example, the intensity of the discharged air may be set higher or lower depending on the position of the actuators. In a further development, the adjusting elements are designed to be illuminatable. The operating device can thereby advantageously be used as a lighting element. Alternatively or additionally, a visually detectable output can be effected by means of illumination of the actuating elements. The illumination can be generated in a manner known per se, for example by illuminating light-transmissive actuating elements in such a way that the illumination of the operating device, in particular of a surface formed by it, can be detected from the outside. A covering element can be provided with an illumination device. Furthermore, individual light sources can be arranged on the adjusting elements, for example along their edges, when these face a surface of the operating device. In the method according to the invention for operating an adaptive operating device, context data are acquired, configuration data are generated on the basis of the context data and a configuration of a plurality of actuating elements, which are of flat design and which are movable along a degree of freedom which runs along a surface area device of the actuating elements, is set on the basis of the configuration data. In this case, in the configuration, a subset of the actuating elements is coupled in such a way that the movement of the coupled actuating elements of the subset is synchronized, wherein in the case of different configurations actuating elements of different subsets are coupled to one another. In this case, a force acting on the actuating elements is detected, wherein a surface of the operating device is designed as an operating surface and the degree of freedom runs parallel thereto. The method according to the invention is designed in particular to operate the operating device according to the invention described above. The method thus has the same advantages as the operating device according to the invention. In one embodiment of the method according to the invention, when setting the configuration, at least a subset of the actuating elements is moved to a specific position and an operating surface is formed by the actuating elements. The positions of the actuating elements of the operating device are thus advantageously variably adjusted depending on context and configuration data, and a flexibly designed operating surface is formed. The invention will now be explained on the basis of exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawings. In further exemplary embodiments, the surface can be coated by a covering element and can be clearly and tactilely detectable in this way.The shape and size of the adjusting elements 24.1 to 24.4, 34.1 to 34.6 can be configured in the form of a single piece; in particular, the adjusting elements 24.1 to 24.4, 34.1 to 34.6 of an operating device can be identical in size and shape. In further embodiments, they may be scaled differently, for instance to form a gradual transition from a first to a second size. The adjusting elements 24.1 to 24.4 shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B are designed as rounded elevations and have a longitudinal axis P, which is indicated by an arrow P and along which they are arranged parallel to one another. The arrow P also indicates an axis P along which the adjusting elements 24.1 to 24.4 can be displaced when a force is exerted on them in a direction along the axis P.The adjusting elements 34.1 to 34.6 shown in FIGS. 3A and 3B, on the other hand, are arranged like a stack along an axis of rotation R' and are rotatable about the stack by the action of a corresponding force, which is indicated by the direction of rotation R. In the exemplary embodiment, the adjusting elements 34.1 to 34.6 are identical in terms of shape and size and each have an indentation 35. This indentation 35 is formed in its dimensions such that it can be actuated by a finger or a hand of a user; in particular, the depth of the indentation 35 is between 1 cm and 10 cm, preferably between 2 cm and 5 cm. FIG. 3B shows the adjusting elements 34.1 to 34.6 embedded in a surrounding element 36, so that the adjusting elements 34.1 to 34.6 are rotatable about the axis of rotation R', but cannot be displaced in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation R'.In further exemplary embodiments, other arrangements and shapes of the adjusting elements 24.1 to 24.4, 34.1 to 34.6 are provided. In addition, further embodiments may provide movement along other directions. The adjusting elements 24.1 to 24.4, 34.1 to 34.6 are movable in certain directions, wherein a force is exerted on the adjusting elements 24.1 to 24.4, 34.1 to 34.6 for the movement. This can be done either by an adjusting device 4, whereby in particular a specific configuration can be adjusted, or by a force acting from the outside on the adjusting elements 24.1 to 24.4, 34.1 to 34.6. On the basis of the movement of the adjusting elements 24.1 to 24.4, 34.1 to 34.6, a force acting on them can be determined in the opposite direction. Alternatively or additionally, a force sensor for the direct determination of a force can be provided. With reference to FIGS. 4A, 4B and 5, further exemplary embodiments of actuating elements are explained, which can be moved or deflected in various ways. When adjusting the adjusting elements 44, 54.1 to 54.6, the degree of freedom about which the movable elements are movable is not defined as a purely rotational or translatory degree of freedom, but the shape of the adjusting elements 44, 54.1 to 54.6 is changed, in particular by generating a curvature. In this case, in particular in the case of a plurality of adjusting elements 44, 54.1 to 54.6, an overlapping surface is formed or at least made visible. In the adjusting element 44 shown in FIG. 4A, fastening points 41, 42 are provided in edge regions, at which fastening points a pressure acting towards the center of the adjusting element 44 can be exerted, indicated by the arrows D 1, D 2 in FIG. 4B. As a result, in the middle region of the actuating element 44, a curvature occurs which is more pronounced with increasing pressure D 1, D 2. Conversely, the curvature can be reduced by outwardly acting pressure on the fastening points 41, 42.In the adjusting elements 54.1 to 54.6 shown in FIG. 5 (further adjusting elements are provided but not provided with reference numerals), a torsion of the adjusting elements 54.1 to 45.6 can be generated in the central regions, which likewise leads to the occurrence or to the change of a curvature. In the adjusting elements 44, 54.1 to 54.6 shown here, too, their movement is related to a force exerted on them. This force can be exerted by an adjusting device 4 or a force acting from the outside can be determined, in particular on the basis of the movement. In further exemplary embodiments, other types of deflection of the actuating elements of the adaptive operating device can be provided. With reference to Figs. 6A to 11B, embodiments of various configurations of actuators adjustable by means of an actuator will be explained. The above-described operating device according to the invention is assumed. In the exemplary embodiments of an operating device 100 shown here, an arm rest 111 is provided, which is formed in such a way that a user can rest his arm on it in such a way that his hand is arranged over a central region of the actuating elements 110. The adjusting elements 110 are elongated and flat in the form of ribs arranged parallel to one another, wherein the ribs are each of the same shape and are formed only in the side regions with a lower height in order to achieve a rounded edge. The shape of the adjusting members 110 has a recessed portion. In further embodiments, other shapes of the actuators 110 may be provided. The adjusting elements 110 form a surface which is illustrated for various configurations in FIGS. 6A to 11A in a perspective view in each case and in FIGS. 6B to 11B in a plan view in each case. The adjusting elements 110 are displaceable along a longitudinal direction of the operating device 100, either actively by an adjusting device (not shown) or passively by a force acting on them from the outside, for example by means of a hand or a further device. In the case shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B, all the adjusting elements 110 are coupled to one another and arranged in such a way that a groove 101 running over the entire width is formed, in which the recessed regions are arranged along a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the operating device 100. Analogously, the case shown in FIGS. 7A and 7B is formed, wherein the extent of the groove 102 formed there by the mutually coupled actuating elements 110 extends obliquely to the longitudinal extent of the operating device 100. In the case shown in Figs. 8A and 8B, the groove 103 extends in a parabolic curve. Other shapes may be formed analogously, such as an inverse parabola. In the case shown in FIGS. 9A and 9B, three subsets of the adjusting elements 110 are respectively coupled to one another and are respectively positioned next to one another in such a way that three grooves 104.1, 104.2, 104.3 are formed, which are positioned at different positions of the longitudinal direction of the operating device 100 and each run perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. In this exemplary embodiment, a central wide groove 104.2 is surrounded by two narrower grooves 104.1, 104.3 in the lateral regions of the operating device 100. In the case shown in FIGS. 10A and 10B, conversely, a narrower central groove 105.2 is formed, which is surrounded by two wider grooves 105.1, 105.3 in the edge region. Oblique or curved paths of the grooves can be formed analogously thereto. In the case shown in FIGS. 11A and 11B, the adjusting elements 110 are arranged offset, wherein a first and a second position are assumed alternately in each case. This produces a groove formation in which the depth of an intermediate depression can be varied. Similar configurations will be explained below with reference to FIGS. 13A and 13B.With reference to FIGS. 12A, 12B, 12C and 12D, embodiments of configurations of actuators usable as mechanical controls will be explained. These are set and formed similarly to the above-explained configurations. The above-described operating device according to the invention is assumed. The actuators used in the case of FIG. 12A have a wave shape and are arranged so that a raised portion 121 is formed in a central portion of the actuators arranged in parallel, while side portions are lowered in contrast thereto. In this way, the elevated region 121 forms an independent operating element 121, for example in the manner of a wide regulator. By means of a hand 120 of a user, actuating elements can be actuated, in particular by displacement in the longitudinal direction of the operating device. The coupling of the actuating elements which form the operating element 121 achieves, on the one hand, that the configuration of the actuating elements with corresponding positions, as shown in FIG. 12A, is automatically adjusted, and, on the other hand, all the coupled actuating elements are moved synchronously with one another when the user carries out a displacement in the region of the operating element 121. Alternatively or additionally, it can be provided that a touch-sensitive surface is arranged on the elevated region 121, by means of which touch inputs can be made.In a further exemplary embodiment, it can be provided that the adjusting elements can be actuated by pressure on the surface, for example by a pressure sensor or a touch-sensitive surface. Alternatively or additionally, the adjusting elements can be provided to be movable perpendicular to their surface, that is to say in addition to the movement in the longitudinal direction of the adjusting elements, for example in order to enable operation as in the case of a pushbutton switch. In the case shown in FIG. 12B, three controllers 122, 123.1, 123.2 are formed in that actuating elements having an upstanding and angularly bent profile are positioned in each case next to one another or alternately with further elements arranged therebetween in such a way that they can be detected in each case as coupled and associated. Due to its shape, the user can particularly easily displace the adjusting elements with one hand 120, in particular in a direction along the longitudinal direction of the operating device. This becomes particularly clear in the case shown in FIG. 12C, in which the hand 120 displaces individual adjusting elements which are automatically arranged in a row of controllers 124. Such a configuration of a series of regulators 125 is also shown in FIG. 12D.Referring to FIGS. 13A and 13B, embodiments of configurations of actuators usable as touch-sensitive surfaces will be explained. These are set and formed similarly to the above-explained configurations. The above-described operating device according to the invention is assumed.Similar to the above-described embodiments, the adjusting elements are arranged offset relative to each other here such that a groove 131, 132 is formed. The depth of this groove 132 can be defined by varying the displacement of the actuators with respect to each other as shown in Fig. 13B. In the exemplary embodiment, it is provided that the operating device is provided with a touch-sensitive surface and the user can set a parameter, for example a volume, in the region of the groove 131, 132 along its direction of extension (that is to say here perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the operating device) by a wiping movement. By varying the height of the groove 132, feedback can be given about the function of the operation, for example an increase of the parameter by a swiping gesture in the direction of a higher region of the groove 132.In further embodiments, different methods of detecting a touch, in particular a specific position, movement or direction of a touch or gesture, can be used. For example, a touch can be detected with a capacitive or resistive sensor or a camera can be used which detects the movement of the hand and evaluates an input gesture. This has the advantage that particularly easily large areas can be observed without a special sensor having to be formed on the surface or integrated into it.Referring to FIGS. 14A and 14B, embodiments of configurations of actuators will be explained. These are set and formed similarly to the above-explained configurations. The above-described operating device according to the invention is assumed. In the case shown in FIG. 14A, the adjusting elements are arranged in such a way that a recessed region 140 results, which can be used, for example, as a touch-sensitive region that can be touched by the user. In the case shown in FIG. 14B, the adjusting elements are arranged such that a recessed region 140 is formed, as already explained in FIG. 14A, which is however superimposed by a parabolic arrangement of regulators 141, which can be coupled such that a deflection of a regulator 141 entails a movement of the further regulators 141.FIGS. 15A and 15B show further exemplary embodiments of configurations of actuating elements as a storage or receptacle for objects. It can be provided that certain configurations of the adjusting elements are specified, in which the positions of the adjusting elements are adjusted such that an object 150.1, 150.2 can be placed on the adjusting elements particularly well. For example, a recessed region can be formed for this purpose, which can be closed off in particular laterally in order to avoid unintentional displacement and falling of the object. Alternatively or additionally, configurations for specific objects can be provided, wherein in this case a depression particularly well adapted to the object 150.1, 150.2 is formed. In one embodiment, it can be provided that an object 150.1, 150.2 is placed on the adjusting elements and these are automatically displaced. At the same time, the force acting on the adjusting elements is measured in order to register, for example, when an adjusting element strikes the object 150.1, 150.2. A similar case is explained below with reference to FIG. 24. As a result, a depression which is particularly well matched to the shape of the object 150.1, 150.2 can be formed. Alternatively or additionally, it can be provided that a user manually exerts force on the operating elements, displaces them and the resulting configuration is stored in order to be able to recall them again later and automatically set them.In the case shown in FIG. 15A, a pentagonal flat object 150.1 is placed on the operating elements, which form a correspondingly shaped depression. In the case shown in FIG. 15B, the adjusting elements are arranged such that a suitable round object 150.2 can be placed thereon and adapt to the shape of the adjusting elements. The object 150.2 can be used, for example, in order to be able to move the adjusting elements manually more easily. Furthermore, it can be provided that the object 150.2 is an active element for detecting an input, for example a rotary controller 150.2, which can be placed on the operating device and then used together with it. Inputs by means of this rotary controller 150.2 can be detected in different ways, for example by means of a wireless transmission of input data or by means of a touch-sensitive surface of the actuating elements in the region of the storage area of the rotary controller 150.2.With reference to FIGS. 16A and 16B, further exemplary embodiments of configurations of actuating elements are explained, wherein a hand rest is formed in each case. The configuration of the adjusting elements is designed in these cases such that the hand 160 of a user can be placed on an ergonomically adapted surface. A configuration in which corresponding positions of the adjusting elements are adjusted can be predetermined or can be adjusted flexibly. For this purpose, the user can move the adjusting elements manually into a specific position or an automatic displacement of the adjusting elements can take place such that their positions are matched as well as possible to the hand 160.In all configurations, the individual adjusting elements can be combined and coupled to one another in different ways. Furthermore, practically any desired arrangements of the actuating elements can be produced, in particular also in order to form different operating elements. The configurations can also be formed dynamically, for example by forming a "breathing" configuration in which the actuating elements are periodically moved back and forth. This allows an activity of the system to be displayed, that is to say the user feels that the system is currently operating. This can support the trust in the activity of the system, for example in an autonomous control of a vehicle. The dynamics can be formed as a function of an activated operating mode, an application program or a further context, in particular the amplitude, frequency and / or waveform of the movement. In one exemplary embodiment, an output is implemented by means of the operating device: for this purpose, a control signal is received and a configuration of the actuating elements is generated, in particular for a specific period of time. Such a configuration can provide, for example, that the adjusting elements or a subset of adjusting elements are deflected out of their current position, for example in order to output a vibration or a wave movement. As a result, a warning signal can be output to a user, for example.Referring to Figs. 17A to 23B, embodiments of displacement resistance profiles for actuator configurations will be explained. In the operating device, it is provided that the input detection unit 5 detects a force acting on the actuating elements. Such a force, insofar as it acts in the direction of the degree of freedom along which an adjusting element is movable, leads to a movement of the adjusting element. In the following exemplary embodiments, a translation in one direction is provided in each case. In further exemplary embodiments, alternatively or additionally thereto, a rotational movement or a pivoting movement can be provided. In the following exemplary embodiments, the actuating device 4 provides in each case a displacement resistance profile which is encompassed by the respective configuration. In this case, it is controlled against which resistance force a user must arrive in order to deflect an adjusting element or to shift it from its position. Such a displacement resistance profile can also comprise forces which lead to an automatic movement of the actuating element. In the case shown in Figs. 17A to 17C, an actuator 171 is moved from a first position x A to a second position x B where it is shown in Fig. 17A by reference numeral 172. FIG. 17B shows the speed v as a function of the position x, FIG. 17C shows the acceleration a as a function of the position x. It can be seen from this that the displacement takes place first with increasing speed and then with decreasing speed before the actuating element 172 comes to a standstill at the second position x B.In the case shown in FIGS. 18A and 18B, an actuating element 181 is displaced from a first position x A to a second position xStop, where it is shown in FIG. 18A with the reference numeral 182. No further displacement is possible from this second position xStopoff, which is represented in FIG. 18B by a suddenly increasing force which acts against the direction of movement at the second position xStop. That is, the movement of the actuator 181, 182 is suddenly braked depending on the magnitude of the opposing force. In the case shown in FIGS. 19A and 19E, an adjusting element 191 is displaced from a first position x 1 to a second position x 2 and to a second position x 3 where it is shown in FIG. 19A with the reference numerals 192 and 193, respectively. For example, different discrete values are assigned to the positions x 1, x 2, x 3 for example for selecting menu items, entries of a list or for inputting integer values. The dynamics of the displacement can be differently expressed: in the case shown in FIG. 19B, a specific force acts against the movement at the positions x 1, x 2, x 3 in each case, this being limited to a small spatial range around the positions x 1, x 2, x 3. In the case shown in FIG. 19C, the force is formed continuously and increases as one of the positions x 1, x 2, x 3, approaches, but then suddenly decreases; in particular, it can also be provided that a restoring force acts which automatically pushes the actuating element 191, 192, 193 back into its previously assumed position when deflected in a local environment of one of the positions x 1, x 2, x 3. In this case, a step-like force profile is achieved. In the case shown in FIG. 19D, the force is designed such that minima are formed in each case at the positions x 1, x 2, x 3 which ensure a "resting point", wherein the displacement of an adjusting element out of one of the positions x 1, x 2, x 3 takes place initially against increasing, then decreasing, resistance. Here too, input is achieved in stages. In the case illustrated in FIG. 19E, the resistance force finally increases with the deflection, so that a user can, for example, perceptibly grasp that an adjusted parameter becomes larger, for example, a volume. The displacement force profiles shown can also be formed in combinations. In the case shown in FIGS. 20A and 20B, an adjusting element 201 is deflected from a first position x Start to a current position x mom where it is shown in FIG. 20A with the reference symbol 202. In this current position x mom a restoring force acts, which is shown in FIG. 20B and by means of which the actuating element 202 is moved back into the first position x Start when it no longer holds an external force in the current position x mom. This results in a "rubber band" effect and, for example, an operating element in the manner of a toggle switch can be implemented, in which increments for a specific value are input, that is to say a single input comprises only a specific deflection, after which the operating element automatically returns to a starting position. In the case shown in FIGS. 21A and 21B, an actuator is first slowly deflected and then suddenly deflected (FIG. 21A ). This results in a resistance force also suddenly increasing (FIG. 21B ). An effect of an "eddy current brake" is produced because the greater the adjusting speed, the higher the resistance force becomes. Thus, unintentional, typically rather rapid, presentations can be prevented. Alternatively or additionally, the resistance force can be dependent on the acceleration of the actuating element. In the case shown in FIGS. 22A, 22B and 22C, an actuator 221 is moved from a first position x Start to a second position x Lostassen (reference numeral 222), and then released. It then moves at a speed of v max to a third position xStop(reference numeral 223). The actuating element therefore moves abruptly to the third position xstopafter it has been deflected from the first position x Start by a specific path length. The course of the speed is shown in FIG. 22B: the speed first rises as the second position x Loslassen is approached and then remains at the same level until the third position xstop is reached. Another example is shown in FIG. 22C, where an "overshoot" or a "rebound" of the actuator is generated by first reaching the third position xstop, passing over it, and then returning again. In this way, a particularly single-start and realistic movement can be generated. In the case shown in FIGS. 23A and 23B, step positions x m1, x m2, x m3 are provided at which an effect is produced corresponding to the impression of magnets which are arranged at these positions x m1, x m2, x m3 and in the field of which the actuator 231 moves. This means that the adjusting element 231 is pulled towards the positions x m1, x m2, x m3 in each case in a local environment. A deflection from such a position x m1, x m2, x m3 is initially effected against a resistance; however, in a local environment of another position x m1, x m2, x m3 the adjusting element 231 is automatically attracted thereby. Such a configuration can also be used to implement a step-like operation, wherein the effect produced by the actuator 4 eliminates the need for the use of actual magnets or similar devices. In the case shown in FIG. 24, which has already been discussed above with reference to FIGS. 15A and 15B, an object 243 is deposited at a position x Ziel on a surface of the operating device and the actuating elements 241, 242 move toward it. If an elevation of an adjusting element 241, 242 hits the object 243, a resistance force can be detected. If this exceeds a threshold value, the movement of the adjusting elements 241, 45 is ended. Alternatively or additionally, a camera can be used to monitor the positioning of the adjusting elements 241, 242. Thus, a precisely fitting receptacle for the object 243 can be formed. Furthermore, the object 243 can be held in place with a certain force, for example in order to prevent slipping or falling. In further embodiments, the shift resistance profiles described can be varied, combined with one another or formed in another way. Thus, for example, a continuously increasing resistance can be combined with a force profile which permits a step-like operation. With reference to FIGS. 25 and 26, embodiments of the use of the operating device together with a graphical user interface will be explained. The operating device according to the invention explained above is assumed here. The display device 6 is arranged relative to the adjusting device 4 in such a way that a visual connection can be established between the two. In particular, only a small or no distance is provided between them and the lower edge of the display device 6 runs parallel to the edge of the adjusting device 4 perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the operating device. In the exemplary embodiment 19, the adjusting device 4 comprises adjusting elements R 1 to R 19 which are designed as flat ribs and are arranged analogously to the adjusting elements 100 in FIG. 9B.The display device 6 outputs a graphic representation comprising straight strips S1 to S19 arranged to form an extension of the ribs R1 to R19 in width and course. In this way, a visually detectable connection is presented between the areas of the strips S1 to S19 within the display and the mechanically formed ribs R1 to R19. Other elements of the graphical representation are buttons 250-254 on the left side of the display and a volume control icon 255 on the right side of the display.Arrow heads 256, 257 on the left and right outer strips S1, S19, respectively, indicate that these strips S1, S19 and the ribs R1, R19 in the extension are associated with the elements 250 to 255 displayed on the edge of the display. In the embodiment, it is contemplated that the left outer rib R1 is for selecting fixed menu items associated with buttons 250-254 on the left side of the display. For this purpose, for example, a displacement force profile can be provided, as has been described above with reference to FIGS. 20A and 20B or 22A to 22C, although other configurations can also be provided. In the exemplary embodiment, it is also provided that the right outer rib R 19 is assigned to the volume control. The current volume is indicated by volume control icon 257 and may be varied by shifting the rib R19, for example, with a shifting force profile as described above with reference to FIG. 19E.Further operating elements are also formed by the ribs R 1 to R 19, wherein this is effected in particular as a function of the output by the output device 6. This makes it possible to flexibly form operating elements of various shapes, operability, ergonomy, and different behaviors depending on the context of the currently operable devices, the executed application programs, or the current display on the display device 6. This is achieved in particular by coupling the ribs R 1 to R 19 or partial quantities thereof to individual operating elements.Further data of a context can also be taken into account in order to set the configuration of the adjusting elements or ribs R 1 to R 19. Operating states of the vehicle 1 can thus be taken into account, for example a sport or comfortable driving operation, which requires specific options for the operation. The display can furthermore be supplemented by further elements, wherein in particular it is visualized which of the ribs R 2 to R 18 not firmly linked to specific functions can be used for which inputs. An example of such an operation is shown in FIG. 26.On the display device 6 a display is output which, in addition to the elements already mentioned, comprises a profile image 261 which is associated with a contact from which a call is currently being received. The reception of the call and the display of the contact image 261 are carried out in a manner known per se. A vibration of the contact image 261 is displayed, moving up and down. Vibration symbols 262 can also be displayed in addition. At the same time, in the exemplary embodiment, it is provided that output data are generated upon receipt of the call and are transmitted to the actuating device 4. From the output data, vibration of the ribs R2 to R18 is generated, that is, they are moved back and forth at a certain amplitude and frequency. The dynamic course of these vibrations can be configured in various ways, and settings can be provided, for example, by which an intensity of the vibrations of the ribs R 2 to R 18 can be controlled. Furthermore, in the exemplary embodiment, vibration symbols 263 are also shown on the ribs R 2 to R 18, which vibration symbols can be output, for example, by means of an illumination device of the ribs R 1 to R 19. This vibration indicates that a movement of the ribs R2 to R18 is to be carried out, in particular in a specific direction, in order to accept the call, while the movement becomes in another direction in order to reject the call. The vibration and / or output may be limited to particular subsets of the ribs R2 through R18. Furthermore, it is provided that all or some of the ribs R 2 to R 18 are coupled to one another, that is to say they move simultaneously, wherein an identical movement along the longitudinal direction does not necessarily have to be provided, but rather a temporal and / or offset can be provided. In other embodiments, output data may be generated by application programs or other devices, and a particular configuration of the ribs R1 to R19 is set in the output data.In a further exemplary embodiment, a distinction is made between different operating modes of the operating device, different configurations being set depending on the activated operating mode. For example, an "idle" mode may be provided, in which an input of the user is also waited. For this purpose, a configuration may be provided in which a hand rest is formed and dynamic "breathing" is output, for example with an amplitude of 5 cm and a frequency of 0.5 Hz. A display can be output on the display device 6 asking the user to operate or touch the operating device. In a further example, a home mode may display a home screen while outputting a lower "breathing", such as with an amplitude of 0.5 cm and a frequency of 0.5 Hz. The display can be formed, for example, in such a way that the user is requested to select a specific application program. In another example, an application mode may be provided in which the periodic "breathing" may be formed depending on the activated application program. The display further comprises information about the application program and its operation. In particular, it is thereby indicated which operating elements are formed by means of which coupled ribs R 1 to R 19. Furthermore, indications can be output as to how the operation takes place, for example by means of the operation of a slider or a toggle switch. In addition to the operation using the ribs R 1 to R 19, the display device 6 may be configured as a touch screen and input of a user may be acquired thereby. In a further exemplary embodiment, it is provided that a user is identified in a manner known per se. The configuration of the operating device can then be formed depending on the identity of the user. For example, the configuration can be made such that it is particularly ergonomic for the individual user, for example by positioning control elements in an area that can be reached easily by the hand of the user or by adapting the size, number or type of control elements to the skills or preferences of the user. By way of example, data of a stored user profile can be acquired on the basis of the identity, wherein the user profile can also be stored on an external unit, for example an external server or a mobile device, and can be called up from there. The identity of the user in this sense belongs to the context in which the operating device is operated. In a further exemplary embodiment, it is provided that the adjusting elements R 1 to R 19, 110 are provided with air-conditioning elements which can be designed in different ways known per se. For example, air conditioned air outlets may be included at a particular temperature, intensity, and / or direction. By automatically or manually setting a configuration, the parameters of the incoming air can be changed. For example, a direction, intensity and / or temperature of the incoming air can be adjusted by moving specific adjusting elements R 1 to R 19, 110 into specific positions. In a further exemplary embodiment, the operating device can be illuminated, for example by the actuating elements R 1 to R 19, 110 being configured to be transparent. Alternatively or additionally, illumination elements, for example light-emitting diodes or light guides, can be integrated into the actuating elements R 1 to R 19, 110. In particular, a surface of the operating device, which is formed by the actuating elements R 1 to R 19, 110, is illuminated. Dynamic illumination effects can also be provided in which parameters of the illumination are changed as a function of time.
