Description

[0001] The invention relates to a method and a device for displaying a three-dimensional hologram above a motor vehicle.

[0002] German patent application DE 10 2006 050 546 A1 discloses a method for displaying information in which at least one projection object is generated at a projection point outside a motor vehicle, wherein the projection object is three-dimensional and generated by holographic projection. German patent application DE 10 2014 114 049 A1 discloses a device and a method for activating a function of a vehicle, comprising a holographic device for generating a holographic representation visible to a user, wherein the holographic representation can be generated above the vehicle for easier location of the vehicle when the user operates an ID transmitter accordingly. From U.S. patent application US 2018 / 0229643 A1, a vehicle information device is known that includes a projector unit configured to display the vehicle's status as a hologram projected through the vehicle's exterior. From U.S. patent application US 2019 / 0196212 A1, a vehicle-mounted device is known that includes a projector configured to project a three-dimensional image in the air above the vehicle based on data from a three-dimensional image.

[0003] DE 10 2016 217 398 A1 describes a method and a lighting arrangement for generating image effects inside or outside a motor vehicle.

[0004] WO 2020 / 163 801 A1 describes an intelligent media player that configures interactive media tailored to the needs of passengers temporarily sharing a common means of transport (e.g., a car or other vehicle).

[0005] The object of the invention is to functionally improve the operation of a motor vehicle.

[0006] This problem is solved by the features of the independent claims. A method for displaying a three-dimensional hologram above a motor vehicle is proposed, wherein the three-dimensional hologram is used to represent at least one design feature of the motor vehicle. For example, specific design elements can be displayed using the three-dimensional hologram. In particular, design elements that are not readily apparent on the motor vehicle can be displayed with the three-dimensional hologram. These could be design elements located in the interior of the motor vehicle. However, it is also possible to display smaller or more hidden design elements larger and more clearly with the three-dimensional hologram.

[0007] The method is characterized by the fact that the three-dimensional hologram for displaying the design function is shown above the roof of the motor vehicle. This offers, among other advantages, that the three-dimensional hologram is clearly visible, even at a greater distance from the motor vehicle.

[0008] The method is characterized by the use of a three-dimensional hologram to display an eye-catching feature. Within the framework of this eye-catching feature, particularly spectacular design elements are preferably displayed.

[0009] The method is characterized by the use of a three-dimensional hologram to display individual symbols. These individual symbols or design elements are intended to draw the attention of people in the vicinity of the vehicle, particularly potential customers, to specific aspects. Furthermore, the three-dimensional hologram can be used to draw the attention of those in the vicinity, especially members of the public, to the functions of the vehicle or to the vehicle in general.

[0010] The method is characterized by the use of a three-dimensional hologram for the individualization of the motor vehicle. For example, names or model designations of the motor vehicle can be projected above the vehicle using the three-dimensional hologram.

[0011] Another preferred embodiment of the method is characterized in that the three-dimensional hologram is used to visualize the dynamics of the motor vehicle. For example, wave-like animations can be displayed using the three-dimensional hologram to emphasize the sporty nature of the vehicle. All the functions described above that can be implemented using the three-dimensional hologram are advantageously accessible both when the vehicle is stationary and while driving.

[0012] Another preferred embodiment of the method is characterized in that the three-dimensional hologram is used to visualize the current mood of at least one occupant, in particular the driver of the vehicle. For example, a party mode can be activated when a celebratory mood arises. While driving, the driver can thus indicate to their surroundings or symbolize that they are in a party mood. When the vehicle is stationary, this can be coupled with a sound system, for example. Desired music can be played via the sound system. This can advantageously be done with the simultaneous display of light animations using the three-dimensional hologram outside the vehicle. With a suitable light show, the vehicle can be clearly and visibly set to party mode in its surroundings.

[0013] In a device for displaying a three-dimensional hologram above a motor vehicle, the problem described above is solved alternatively or additionally by integrating a hologram projector into the vehicle roof to display the three-dimensional hologram above the roof. The hologram projector preferably generates a three-dimensional object perpendicular to the vehicle roof above the vehicle. The hologram projector also has the capability to display graphics, patterns, or symbols in addition to objects. A color spectrum that can be displayed with the hologram projector advantageously covers the entire RGB color space. The letters RGB stand for the three primary colors red, green, and blue. The RGB color space is an additive color space that reproduces color perception by additively mixing the three primary colors.

[0014] A preferred embodiment of the device is characterized in that the hologram projector is integrated centrally into the vehicle roof in such a way that it is barely or not at all visible from the outside. Firstly, the hologram projector is small. Furthermore, its shape is advantageously adapted to the vehicle's aerodynamic requirements so that it is not noticeable or only minimally so. In addition, a suitable design and arrangement of the hologram projector at a central point in the middle of the roof ensures that the three-dimensional hologram generated by the hologram projector is visible from all directions in the vicinity of the vehicle. Therefore, the hologram projector is advantageously positioned at a central and simultaneously high, or even the highest, point on the vehicle roof.

[0015] The invention further relates to a computer program product comprising at least one non-volatile, computer-readable storage medium on which computer-readable program instructions are stored, wherein the computer-readable program instructions include program instructions designed to cause the device described above to execute a method described above. The hologram projector's function can be controlled via PCM or an app. PCM stands for remote control or radio remote control using digital signals. The abbreviation PCM means Pulse Code Modulation. App stands for application, specifically referring to application software in the field of mobile operating systems.

[0016] The invention may also relate to a motor vehicle with a previously described display device.

[0017] Further advantages, features, and details of the invention will become apparent from the following description, in which various exemplary embodiments are described in detail with reference to the drawing. The drawing shows: Fig. 1. A perspective view of a motor vehicle with a vehicle roof in which a hologram projector is integrated to display a three-dimensional hologram above the vehicle roof; and the Fig. 2 to 4 similar representations as in Fig. 1 with different holograms.

[0018] In the Fig. Figures 1 to 4 each show a motor vehicle 1 with a vehicle roof 2 in perspective. A hologram projector 3 is integrated into the vehicle roof 2. The hologram projector 3 is positioned at a central point in the middle of the vehicle roof 2. This central point of the vehicle roof 2 is preferably the highest point of the motor vehicle 1.

[0019] In the Fig. In sections 1 to 4, the hologram projector 3 is of different sizes and is integrated into the vehicle roof 2 to varying degrees. Fig. 1. The hologram projector 3 is relatively clearly visible. In Fig. 4 The hologram projector 3 is so well integrated into the vehicle roof 2 that it is no longer visible from the outside.

[0020] The hologram projector 3 can generate two three-dimensional holograms 5 above the vehicle roof, which are easily perceptible from the surroundings of the vehicle 1.

[0021] In Fig. 1 is the three-dimensional hologram 5, simplified as a two-dimensional rectangle 11. In Fig. 2 is the three-dimensional hologram 5 simplified as a two-dimensional speech bubble 12. In Fig. 3 is the three-dimensional hologram 5 simplified as a two-dimensional star 13. In Fig. 4 is the three-dimensional hologram 5 represented as a three-dimensional arrow 14.

[0022] The hologram projector 3, located in the vehicle roof 2, serves to display a device 4 for showing the three-dimensional hologram 5 above the vehicle roof 2. The three-dimensional hologram 5 is advantageously used to represent at least one design feature of the motor vehicle.

[0023] The rectangle 11, the speech bubble 12, the star 13 and the arrow 14 are intended to lead into the Fig. Figures 1 to 4 illustrate that the three-dimensional hologram 5 above the vehicle roof can be used to present two different design elements very clearly. The three-dimensional holograms 5 shown are highly simplified. In reality, almost any three-dimensional object can be realistically displayed using the hologram projector 3.

[0024] The three-dimensional hologram 5 can be used, in particular, to create an eye-catching effect. The aim is to draw the attention of people, especially customers, to specific elements, functions, or the vehicle itself, such as those in the vicinity of the vehicle 1. This includes displaying design elements, which can be individually configured. The selection of colors from the RGB color space for the displayed design elements is also advantageously customizable.

[0025] According to another aspect, the three-dimensional hologram 5 can be used to depict the dynamics of the vehicle 1. Wave-like animations, for example, can emphasize the sportiness of the vehicle 1. All functions are advantageously accessible both when stationary and while driving.

[0026] When the mood strikes, a party mode can be activated. In this mode, the driver can communicate their party mood to the outside world via the three-dimensional hologram 5 above the vehicle roof 2 while driving. Other road users can then contact the driver.

[0027] When stationary, it is advantageous to connect to a sound system in vehicle 1. Desired music can be played via the sound system. Simultaneously, light animations both inside and outside vehicle 1 can be displayed to create the illusion of a party location.
