Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a threshold for supporting a fixed panel leaf of a door or window on a building structure, comprising an elongated threshold body which is intended for direct or indirect attachment to the building structure and has a surface from which a stop step protrudes, which extends along a longitudinal axis of the threshold body, and comprising at least one connecting element to be inserted between the surface of the threshold body and an underside of the fixed panel leaf, wherein the connecting element has a bottom side designed to be placed on the surface of the threshold body, an upper side facing the fixed panel leaf, a step contact section designed to bear against the stop step of the threshold body and defining a contact axis, and a front side facing away from the step contact section, wherein the step contact section has a sealing section for fluid-tight contact with the stop step, and axially adjacent to the sealing section there is a recess in the step contact section, through which water can be discharged from the top side through a drainage channel formed in the connecting element to the front side.
[0002] The threshold of a door or window is typically embedded in the floor slab of a building in such a way that the surface of the sill or an intermediate profile attached to it is as flush as possible with the surface of the floor slab. The fixed panel sash can rest directly on the sill or on the aforementioned intermediate profile, which transfers the weight of the fixed panel sash to the sill. A guide rail can also be arranged on the sill, along which a movable sash can be slid in front of the fixed panel sash to create a passage.
[0003] In the area of the leading edge of the fixed-field wing, a connecting element referred to as a “central sealing block” is generally arranged between the surface of the sleeper body and the underside of the fixed-field wing on thresholds of the type mentioned.
[0004] The sealing section of the connecting element ensures that no moisture creeps along the stop step into the rear areas of the threshold and into the masonry. The recess, in conjunction with the drainage channel, serves to drain water running down the intersection of the two leaves. The larger the recess, the better the drainage works and the less standing water builds up on the connecting element. Therefore, the sealing section is often provided only at one axial end area of the step section, and the recess is extended as far as possible towards the other axial end area. However, a corresponding center sealing block can only be used on one side of a fixed-field leaf, i.e., on the right or left edge, depending on the design.Since there are both left-mounted fixed-field wings and right-mounted fixed-field wings, a speed bump manufacturer must provide two types of center seal blocks, which results in relatively high manufacturing and inventory costs.
[0005] To avoid this problem, sealing sections can be provided at both axial ends of the step contact section. However, this reduces the available space for the recess and can lead to standing water on the center seal block.
[0006] It is an object of the invention to provide a threshold of the type mentioned which is easy to manufacture and ensures unhindered water drainage.
[0007] The problem is solved by a speed bump having the features of claim 1.
[0008] According to the invention, the connecting element comprises a base body and a separate contact body forming the sealing section, wherein the base body has two coupling sections spaced apart from one another with respect to the contact axis, and wherein the separate contact body is detachably fastened to one of the two coupling sections.
[0009] The other coupling section can be left open, resulting in a larger recess compared to a system with two fixed sealing sections at the axial end areas of the stepped section, allowing unhindered water drainage. This prevents unwanted standing water from accumulating in the area of the connecting element.
[0010] An advantage of providing a contact body separate from the base body is that connecting elements with differently arranged or designed sealing sections, in particular with sealing sections of different lengths, can be provided with little material input.
[0011] According to one embodiment of the invention, the separate contact body forming the sealing section can be releasably attached to both coupling sections. It can therefore be coupled either to one coupling section or to the other, depending on whether the connecting element is to be mounted on the left or right edge of the fixed-panel sash. During installation of the threshold, the configuration of the connecting element can be decided on-site. Manufacturing and maintaining various types of connecting elements is not necessary.
[0012] Two different, selectively usable separate contact bodies can be provided, one separate contact body being detachably attachable to one coupling section and the other separate contact body being detachably attachable to the other coupling section, the separate contact body forming the sealing section being selected from the two different separate contact bodies. This provides a modular system that enables the creation of thresholds for different types of doors and windows with minimal material usage.
[0013] The two separate components can have a different shape and / or size. In principle, a kit of this type can also comprise more than two separate components.
[0014] Preferably, the separate contact body forming the sealing section is detachably attached to the coupling section via a plug-in connection. Configuring the connecting element for "left" or "right" mounting can be done particularly quickly and easily. Changing the configuration is also easy.
[0015] The coupling sections can be formed by respective plug-in receptacles that define a plug-in direction running transversely to the contact axis and / or vertically and interact with a plug-in projection of the separate contact body forming the sealing section. This enables a particularly simple design.
[0016] A special embodiment of the invention provides that each of the plug-in receptacles has at least one undercut relative to the contact axis. This ensures a positive connection between the base body and the contact body. In particular, each of the plug-in receptacles can be dovetail-shaped, and the contact body forming the sealing section can have a complementarily shaped plug-in projection, or vice versa.
[0017] A further embodiment of the invention provides that the stepped contact section has a first axial end section and an opposite second axial end section, and the coupling sections are arranged at the axial end sections. The recess can extend between the sealing section adjacent to one of the coupling sections and the exposed coupling section, thus having a maximum size.
[0018] The base body can have two support projections projecting from the rear, which form the axial end sections of the step contact section. The two support projections determine the position of the connecting element abutting the stop step with a minimal contact surface. The contact surface with the stop step can thus be limited to the positioning support projections and the sealing section, while the recess extends over the remaining axial space of the step contact section.
[0019] A receptacle for a sealing element can be formed in the separate contact body forming the sealing section, which receptacle is open towards a contact surface of the step contact section. In the separate contact body forming the sealing section, an injection channel for injecting a sealant is formed, which has an access opening not located in the contact surface and opens into the receptacle. A liquid sealant, which is then to be hardened, can be introduced into the receptacle through the injection channel. However, it is also possible to insert a solid sealing element into the receptacle. This means that, depending on the application specifications, the seal to the stop step can be achieved using a solid or alternatively using a liquid sealing material, without the need for different connecting elements.
[0020] The threshold can have a sealing element made of an elastic material inserted into the connecting element's receptacle, which ensures a reliable seal against the stop step. The sealing element can be designed, in particular, for detachable insertion into the receptacle. According to a special embodiment of the invention, the sealing element is made of silicone. In principle, the entire contact body could also be made of a sealing material, thus eliminating the need for a liquid sealant or a separate sealing element.
[0021] The drainage channel is preferably formed on the underside of the connecting element. For example, an open recess can be provided on the underside of the connecting element, extending from the recess to the front of the connecting element.
[0022] The axial length of the sealing section and / or the separate contact body forming the sealing section is preferably at most 60%, and particularly preferably at most 40%, of the axial length of the step contact section. It has been shown that a comparatively short sealing section is sufficient to prevent moisture from creeping along the stop step, thus allowing more space for the recess.
[0023] It can be provided that the stop step has a groove extending along its longitudinal axis, and a projecting rib is formed on the step contact section for engagement in the groove. This creates a positive connection between the threshold body and the connecting element.
[0024] The invention also relates to a door system or window system, in particular a sliding door system or sliding window system, for example a lift-and-slide door system or lift-and-slide window system, with a frame, a fixed panel sash coupled to the frame, a sash movable relative to the fixed panel sash and a floor sill for supporting the fixed panel sash on a building structure.
[0025] According to the invention, the threshold is designed as described above.
[0026] Due to the inventive design of the threshold, there is no undesirable standing water in the area of the connecting element, and no provision of different types of connecting elements is required for this purpose.
[0027] The connecting element can be inserted between the surface of the sill body and a free leading edge section of the fixed-field wing. Such a connecting element is commonly referred to as a "center seal block." It ensures a clean seal between the wing's leading edge and the ground and diverts water running down the interface area between the fixed-field wing and the movable wing.
[0028] Further developments of the invention can also be found in the dependent claims, the following description and the attached drawings.
[0029] The invention is described below by way of example with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1 shows a sliding door system according to the invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a fixed panel section of the sliding door system according to Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows a threshold of the sliding door system according to Fig. 1 in perspective single view. Fig. 4 shows a central sealing block of the threshold according to Fig. 3 from the top. Fig. 5 shows the central density block according to Fig. 4 from the bottom. Fig. 6 shows various components of a central sealing block of a speed bump according to the invention.
[0030] The Fig. 1 shows a sliding door system 10 with a stationary frame 11, a sliding leaf 12 and a fixed panel leaf 14, wherein the sliding leaf 12 can be pushed in a conventional manner from the illustrated closed position in front of the fixed panel leaf 14 in order to release a passage opening of the sliding door system 10.
[0031] Like the fixed-panel sash 14, the sliding sash 12 comprises a glazing 16 and a sash frame 18 surrounding the glazing 16, which frame is formed from a hollow chamber profile. The fixed-panel sash 14 has a front edge 20 facing the passage opening and an opposite rear edge 22.
[0032] The lower end of the sliding door system 10 is as shown in the Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 is recognizably formed by a threshold 24, via which the frame 11, the sliding sash 12 and the fixed sash 14 are supported on a building structure (not shown). The threshold 24 comprises a threshold body 26 which has a longitudinal axis 28 and is fastened directly or indirectly to the building structure, for example by means of screw angles. The threshold body 26 has a surface 30 which, when properly installed, faces upwards and from which a stop step 32 protrudes, extending along the longitudinal axis 28 across the entire threshold body 26. The stop step 32 forms a raised region 34 of the threshold body 26, into which a guide rail 36 for guiding the sliding sash 12 is embedded.
[0033] The rear edge 22 of the fixed-panel wing 14 adjoins a vertical beam 37 of the frame 11. The vertical beam 37 is supported on the sill body 26 via a first connecting element 40 in the form of a frame corner connector.
[0034] The fixed field wing 14 does not rest directly on the sill body 26, but rather via an intermediate profile 38 which is attached to the surface 30 of the sill body 26. As shown in Fig. 2, the intermediate profile 38 does not extend to the front edge 20 of the fixed field wing 14. Rather, in the region of the front edge 20, a second connecting element 42, namely a central sealing block, is inserted between the surface 30 of the sill body 26 and the fixed field wing 14, preferably with the interposition of sealing foils.
[0035] The Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 show the second connecting element 42 in individual view. The second connecting element 42 has a bottom side 50 designed to be placed on the surface 30 of the sill body 26, an upper side 51 facing the fixed field wing 14, a step contact section 52 designed to engage the stop step 32 of the sill body 26, and a front side 53 facing away from the step contact section 52. The step contact section 52 follows the stop step 32 extending along the longitudinal axis 28 of the sill body 26 and accordingly defines a contact axis 70. Support projections 71 in the form of narrow tongues are located at the two end regions of the step contact section 52 that are axial with respect to the contact axis 70. A sealing section 66 for fluid-tight contact with the stop step 32 is axially adjacent to the Fig. 4 support projection 71 located on the left.
[0036] The sealing section 66 prevents unwanted creeping of moisture along the stop step 32.
[0037] Between the sealing section 66 and the support projection 71 on the right in the picture there is a free space, i.e. a recess 75 of the step section 52. As in Fig. 5, the recess 75 is connected to a drainage channel 77, which is formed on the underside 50 of the second connecting element 42 and extends from the step section 52 to the front side 53. Water, which runs down in the interface area between the sliding sash 12 and the fixed sash 14, particularly during heavy rain, is thus drained away via the recess 75 and the drainage channel 77. To support the drainage, the surface 30 of the sill body 26 has, as shown in Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 shows an inclination.
[0038] The second connecting element 42 comprises a base body 78, which is preferably designed as an injection-molded part and comprises the two support projections 71. Plug-in receptacles 79 are formed in the support projections 71, which are preferably dovetail-shaped as shown. In the illustrated embodiment, the plug-in receptacles 79 are open at the top. A contact body 80, which is separate from the base body 78 and is preferably also an injection-molded part, has a dovetail-shaped plug-in projection 95, which is inserted into the Fig. 4 left socket 79 is inserted.
[0039] The sealing section 66 is formed by the contact body 80, wherein the sealing effect is mediated in particular by a sealing element 56 made of an elastic material such as silicone and arranged on the contact body 80.
[0040] The second connecting element 42 can also be attached to the sill body 26 without a sealing element 56. The sealing effect can be ensured by injecting a flowable sealant into a receptacle 54 of the contact body 80 via an access opening 60 and a spray channel 58 and subsequently curing it. In this case, too, the contact point between the second connecting element 42 and the stop step 32 is reliably sealed.
[0041] In the assembled state of the second connecting element 42, ribs 72 provided on the support projections 71 engage in a groove 76 ( Fig. 3) which is provided on the stop step 32 of the sleeper body 26 and extends along the longitudinal axis 28.
[0042] Fig. 6 shows a base body 78 with free plug-in receptacles 79 as well as arrangements of two different contact bodies 80, 81. In the upper part of Fig. 4, two sealing elements 56 are shown in individual view. While the contact body 80 shown below the left sealing element 56 in the picture corresponds to the Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 and is designed for a plug-in connection with the left-hand plug-in receptacle 79 as seen from above and in front, the contact body 81 shown below the right sealing element 56 in the figure is designed for a plug-in connection with the right-hand plug-in receptacle 79 as seen from above and in front. In particular, the contact bodies 80, 81 have respective projections 90 which are designed for engagement in the groove 76 ( Fig. 3) and define different axial orientations of the contact bodies 80, 81. The contact bodies 80, 81 thus have mirrored shapes, as shown. Thus, there is a contact body 80 for left-hand mounting and a contact body 81 for right-hand mounting.
[0043] A threshold 24 according to the invention is preferably supplied as a kit, to which both contact bodies 80, 81 are attached. During assembly, either the left contact body 80 or the right contact body 81 can be inserted into the corresponding plug-in receptacle 79, depending on whether the first connecting element 42 is to be provided on a right or left front edge 20. The kit could also include a Fig. 4 shown injection-molded component 93 can be added, from which both contact bodies 80, 81 emerge by breaking out.
[0044] The asymmetrical shape of the contact bodies 80, 81 is not mandatory. According to an embodiment of the invention (not shown), a contact body designed without a projection 90 can be inserted either into the left plug-in receptacle 79 or the right plug-in receptacle 79. In this case, only a single contact body would need to be included in the kit for a threshold 24.
[0045] Since the plug-in receptacles 79 form coupling sections for a detachable coupling of the base body 78 to one or more different contact bodies 80, 81 and are spaced apart from one another with respect to the contact axis 70, there is a high degree of flexibility with regard to the design of the second connecting element 42. Since one of the plug-in receptacles 79 can remain free and the inserted contact body 80 preferably has a comparatively short axial length, a large recess 75 is provided for draining water. It is also possible to include several differently shaped, in particular differently long, contact bodies 80, 81 in a kit in order to accommodate different types of sliding door systems 10.
[0046] The arrangement of base body 78 and separate contact body 80, 81 is not only advantageous for thresholds for sliding doors, but also for other types of thresholds in the field of building technology, for example thresholds for revolving doors or gates.
