Description

[0001] The invention relates to a mounting unit for a bumper, a motor vehicle rear end with such a mounting unit, and a motor vehicle with such a motor vehicle rear end.

[0002] Bumpers on motor vehicles are familiar from industrial practice. These bumpers serve to cushion the impact of an object, such as another motor vehicle. The kinetic energy of the impact is converted into deformation energy. This protects the vehicle's occupants, for example, from excessive acceleration caused by the impact. The bumper preferably forms an outermost deformation zone, which deforms even at low impact energies, such as during parking bumps, thus protecting other more expensive deformation components from deformation.

[0003] Such a bumper, for example, comprises a cross member and at least one, usually two, longitudinal members. The cross member is attached to the vehicle body by means of the longitudinal members. A mounting plate is provided on the longitudinal members for this purpose, which is bolted to the vehicle body. A foam sealing plate is arranged between the mounting plate and the vehicle body, preventing water or dirt from penetrating the longitudinal members and / or the vehicle body.

[0004] The mounting plate is attached to the vehicle body using mounting screws that extend through the foam seal. The installer is provided with specific mounting torques for the mounting screws, ensuring a secure hold of the bumper to the vehicle body. However, due to the foam seal settling, the mounting torque decreases over time, which could lead to loosening of the mounting screws in the worst case scenario.

[0005] DE 10 2016 002 519 A1 discloses a chassis for a motor vehicle, comprising at least one support element which has a cavity at least at one end region and a through-opening opening into the cavity, wherein at least one deformable securing element which is fixed to the end region by means of at least one fixing element, as well as at least one seal clamped between the securing element and the end region, is provided for sealing the cavity against the ingress of moisture.

[0006] Based on this, the present invention is based on the object of at least partially overcoming the disadvantages known from the prior art. The features of the invention are derived from the independent claims, for which advantageous embodiments are presented in the dependent claims. The features of the claims can be combined in any technically reasonable manner, whereby the explanations from the following description as well as features from the figures, which comprise additional embodiments of the invention, can also be consulted for this purpose.

[0007] The invention relates to an assembly unit for a bumper of a motor vehicle, comprising at least the following components: - a mounting plate with a plate contact surface and a plate sealing surface; and - a soft component seal.

[0008] The assembly unit is primarily characterized in that the soft component seal is arranged on the bodyshell side on the plate sealing surface, which is arranged set back by a step with respect to the plate contact surface, and the mounting plate is designed such that in an assembled state the plate contact surface is in contact with a complementary bodyshell contact surface of a vehicle bodyshell of the motor vehicle.

[0009] Unless explicitly stated otherwise, ordinal numbers used in the preceding and following descriptions serve only to clearly distinguish them and do not reflect the order or ranking of the designated components. An ordinal number greater than one does not necessarily imply that another such component must be present.

[0010] Here, an assembly unit for a bumper of a motor vehicle is proposed. The bumper comprises, for example, a cross member, at least one, preferably two, longitudinal members, and a screen. The bumper is preferably arranged at the rear of the motor vehicle, particularly preferably below the tailgate.

[0011] The mounting unit includes a mounting plate and a soft component seal.

[0012] The mounting plate has a plate contact surface and a plate sealing surface. The plate contact surface and the plate sealing surface are preferably arranged parallel to a main extension plane of the mounting plate. In an assembled state of the mounting plate, in which the mounting unit is attached to the vehicle body shell, the main extension plane of the mounting plate is preferably arranged substantially orthogonal to the vehicle's longitudinal direction.

[0013] In the assembled state, the plate contact surface and the plate sealing surface are preferably arranged on the shell side of the mounting plate.

[0014] The mounting plate is plate-shaped, i.e. the mounting plate has a greater extension in a width and a height, which define the main extension plane, than in the thickness, which extends orthogonally to the main extension plane.

[0015] The mounting plate is preferably made of a hard material, particularly preferably a metal, for example steel or aluminum or a steel alloy or aluminum alloy.

[0016] The mounting plate preferably has through-holes for mounting screws, by means of which the mounting plate can be fastened to the vehicle body shell or is fastened to the vehicle body shell in the mounted state. For example, the mounting plate has four such through-holes.

[0017] Preferably, the mounting plate is attached to at least one longitudinal member of the bumper, for example, glued, soldered, or welded. For this purpose, the longitudinal member is inserted into a receiving opening in the mounting plate.

[0018] The soft component seal is made of an elastic material, i.e., a material with a lower modulus of elasticity than the mounting plate. The soft component seal is preferably made of plastic.

[0019] The soft component seal is preferably annular, where annular in this case does not mean circular. For example, the soft component seal follows the contour of an outer edge of the mounting plate. For example, the soft component seal extends circumferentially along an outer edge of the mounting plate, which delimits the mounting plate in the main extension plane.

[0020] The mounting plate now has a shoulder between the plate contact surface and the plate sealing surface. The plate contact surface is thus offset by the shoulder relative to the plate sealing surface, or is formed by a projection extending by the shoulder relative to the plate sealing surface. In this case, shoulder means that the shoulder is formed in the direction of the vehicle body shell, i.e., preferably substantially orthogonal to the main extension plane of the mounting plate, i.e., in the normal direction. This direction is preferably also the mounting direction and particularly preferably corresponds to the longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle.

[0021] The soft component seal is arranged on the plate sealing surface. The plate sealing surface preferably extends circumferentially around the contact surface. The soft component seal is preferably attached to the mounting plate in such a way that the soft component seal rests against the plate sealing surface with one side and extends from there with at least one sealing section in the normal direction, or assembly direction. Thus, the soft component seal can be brought into contact with a complementary bodyshell sealing surface of the vehicle bodyshell during assembly.

[0022] Furthermore, the mounting plate is designed such that, when installed, the plate contact surface is in contact with a complementary bodyshell contact surface of the vehicle body. The mounting plate can thus be brought into contact with the bodyshell contact surface during installation. For this purpose, the mounting plate can be positioned against the vehicle bodyshell in the direction of installation and secured to it, for example, using mounting screws.

[0023] The soft component seal is compressed, preferably elastically. Thus, in the assembled state, the shoulder creates a gap in the normal direction between the mounting plate and the vehicle body shell. The gap is limited along the normal direction by the plate sealing surface on the body shell side and by the plate sealing surface on the plate side. Consequently, the soft component seal is located in the gap in the assembled state. The dimensions of the shoulder thus determine how far the soft component seal is compressed during assembly.

[0024] The contact between the plate contact surface and the shell contact surface prevents any settlement behavior of the soft component seal from influencing the assembly torque of the assembly screws.

[0025] It is further proposed in an advantageous embodiment of the assembly unit that the elastic soft component seal comprises, and is preferably formed from, thermoplastic, thermoplastic elastomer and / or polyurethane.

[0026] The soft component seal preferably has a modulus of elasticity that is a factor of 10 [ten], preferably a factor of 20 [twenty], more preferably a factor of 50 [fifty] smaller than the modulus of elasticity of the mounting plate. The soft component seal preferably comprises a thermoplastic, a thermoplastic elastomer, and / or polyurethane. The soft component seal is particularly preferably made of such a material. For example, the soft component seal comprises or consists of ethylene propylene diene (EPDM).

[0027] It is further proposed in an advantageous embodiment of the assembly unit that the soft component seal is formed circumferentially around the plate contact surface.

[0028] According to this embodiment, the soft component seal extends circumferentially around the plate contact surface. Preferably, at least all openings in the mounting plate and / or on the vehicle body shell in the area where the mounting plate is mounted are enclosed by the soft component seal.

[0029] The soft component seal is designed to prevent water and / or dirt from penetrating components of the bumper, the assembly unit, and / or the vehicle body. Water and dirt drip from above, such as from the tailgate, onto the assembly unit, or splash up from below while the vehicle is moving.

[0030] A corresponding circumferential seal provides good protection against water and dirt from all directions.

[0031] It is further proposed in an advantageous embodiment of the mounting unit that the soft component seal is fastened to the mounting plate by means of a circumferential outer edge of the mounting plate being gripped from the plate sealing surface on the shell side to a counter-holding surface of the mounting plate facing away from the shell.

[0032] The soft component seal is therefore positively secured to the mounting plate, preferably at least in the normal direction. For this purpose, the soft component seal encompasses the mounting plate. For example, the soft component seal encompasses the mounting plate by means of retaining clips, which are preferably formed integrally with the soft component seal. The retaining clips are, for example, evenly distributed around the circumference of the mounting plate or the soft component seal. For example, the soft component seal comprises at least four or six retaining clips.

[0033] Alternatively, the soft component seal encompasses the outer edge of the mounting plate, for example completely along the circumference or in certain sections of the circumference of the mounting plate.

[0034] It is further proposed in an advantageous embodiment of the assembly unit that the soft component seal and the shoulder between the plate contact surface and the plate sealing surface are designed in such a way that in a pre-assembled state in which the soft component seal is connected to the mounting plate, the soft component seal projects beyond the plate contact surface on the shell side and in an assembled state in which the assembly unit is connected to the vehicle body shell, the soft component seal is compressed to such an extent that the plate contact surface is in contact with the body shell contact surface.

[0035] According to this embodiment, for example, the plate sealing surface is now set back from the plate contact surface to such an extent that the soft component seal protrudes beyond the plate contact surface in the pre-assembled state. In other words, the soft component seal is thicker than the shoulder between the plate contact surface and the plate sealing surface. This ensures that the soft component seal is in contact with the bodyshell sealing surface in the assembled state if the bodyshell contact surface and the bodyshell sealing surface are not offset from each other or are only slightly offset.

[0036] In the assembled state, the soft component seal is compressed accordingly between the plate sealing surface and the bodyshell sealing surface. In the assembled state, the soft component seal is compressed to such an extent that the plate contact surface is in direct contact with the bodyshell contact surface. The elastic modulus and thickness of the soft component seal are therefore selected such that the soft component seal can be compressed to the thickness of the shoulder using a defined contact force. The contact force is provided, for example, by a specified assembly torque of assembly screws for fastening the mounting plate to the vehicle bodyshell.

[0037] It is further proposed in an advantageous embodiment of the mounting unit that the soft component seal and / or the mounting plate is mirror-symmetrical to a main extension plane of the mounting plate.

[0038] According to this embodiment, the soft component seal is now preferably mirror-symmetrical to the main extension plane of the mounting plate. This means that the soft component seal extends equally on both sides of the mounting plate and is in contact with the plate sealing surface and the complementary counter-support surface of the mounting plate in the same way.

[0039] Furthermore, the mounting plate is preferably designed to be mirror-symmetrical to the main plane of extension. Thus, the counter-holding surface corresponds to the sealing surface, and a shoulder is arranged on both sides, forming a plate contact surface.

[0040] A mounting plate according to this embodiment can be used on both sides. The mounting unit preferably comprises two mounting plates, which, in the assembled state, are each attached to a cross member of the bumper by means of a longitudinal member. Due to the symmetrical design, an identical mounting plate or soft component seal can be used for both longitudinal members. To do this, the mounting plate with the pre-assembled soft component seal simply needs to be rotated 180°.

[0041] It is further proposed in an advantageous embodiment of the assembly unit that the shoulder is milled or embossed.

[0042] For example, the shoulder is milled into the mounting plate. Alternatively, in a particularly cost-effective embodiment, the shoulder is embossed into the mounting plate.

[0043] According to a further aspect, a motor vehicle rear end is proposed, comprising at least the following components: - an assembly unit according to an embodiment as described above; - a vehicle body shell with a body shell contact surface and a body shell sealing surface; and - a bumper fastened to the vehicle body shell by means of the mounting unit, wherein the soft component seal is arranged at least in sections between the body shell sealing surface and the plate sealing surface, and wherein the plate contact surface is in contact with the body shell contact surface.

[0044] What is proposed here is the rear end of a motor vehicle, which has at least one assembly unit according to the above description, a vehicle body and a bumper.

[0045] The vehicle body shell has a body shell contact surface and a body shell sealing surface. The vehicle body shell is, for example, a structural frame of the vehicle body. The vehicle body shell is preferably made of metal, for example, steel and / or aluminum.

[0046] The bumper preferably comprises a cross member and at least one, particularly preferably two, longitudinal members and a cover. The cover is attached to the cross member. The longitudinal members are optionally arranged spaced apart from one another along a vehicle transverse direction, orthogonal to the vehicle longitudinal direction and to the normal direction. The cross member is attached to the mounting plate and thus to the vehicle body shell by means of the at least one longitudinal member.

[0047] At least a portion of the soft component seal is arranged between the body-in-white sealing surface and the plate sealing surface. For example, a portion of the soft component seal extends radially outward from the corresponding gap between the plate sealing surface and the body-in-white sealing surface and encompasses the outer edge of the mounting plate up to a complementary counter-retaining surface of the mounting plate.

[0048] The plate contact surface is in direct contact with the bodyshell contact surface. This contact is preferably metal-to-metal. The soft component seal is compressed compared to its original, uninstalled state, thus pressing against the respective sealing surfaces and sealing them.

[0049] According to a further aspect, a motor vehicle rear end is proposed, comprising at least the following components: - a vehicle body shell with a body shell contact surface and a body shell sealing surface; - a bumper; - a mounting plate with a plate contact surface and a plate sealing surface, by means of which the bumper is attached to the vehicle body; and - a soft component seal attached to the mounting plate.

[0050] The motor vehicle rear end is primarily characterized by the fact that the soft component seal is arranged in a gap in the normal direction between the plate sealing surface and the bodyshell sealing surface.

[0051] According to this embodiment, the motor vehicle rear comprises a vehicle body shell, a bumper, a mounting plate and a soft component seal.

[0052] In contrast to the vehicle rear described above, the gap between the plate sealing surface and the bodyshell sealing surface, in which the soft component seal is arranged, is now formed, for example, either by the above-described shoulder between the plate contact surfaces and the plate sealing surface and / or by an additional or alternative shoulder between the bodyshell contact surface and the bodyshell sealing surface. According to the above description, an additional or alternative shoulder may also be formed, in which the bodyshell contact surface is offset in relation to the bodyshell sealing surface in the direction of the mounting plate.

[0053] With regard to the dimensioning of the gap, i.e. the step between the plate contact surface and the plate sealing surface and / or the alternative or additional step between the shell contact surface and the shell sealing surface, and the design of the soft component seal, reference is made to the above description.

[0054] According to a further aspect, a motor vehicle is proposed, comprising at least the following components: - a motor vehicle rear end according to an embodiment as described above; - a drive machine for providing a drive torque; and - at least one drive wheel connected to the drive motor in a torque-transmitting manner, for providing propulsion based on the drive torque.

[0055] The motor vehicle proposed here comprises a motor vehicle rear according to the above description, a drive motor and at least one drive wheel.

[0056] The vehicle body shell, for example, is a structural frame of the vehicle body. The bumper is preferably part of a crash management system.

[0057] The drive motor is, for example, an internal combustion engine and / or an electric drive motor. For example, the drive motor is connected to the at least one drive wheel in a torque-transmitting manner via a clutch, a transmission, and / or a differential.

[0058] The motor vehicle preferably comprises four drive wheels, of which two or four are particularly preferably designed as drive wheels.

[0059] The invention described above is explained in detail below against the relevant technical background with reference to the accompanying drawings, which show preferred embodiments. The invention is in no way limited by the purely schematic drawings, whereby it should be noted that the drawings are not to scale and are not suitable for defining proportions. It is shown in Fig. 1: Assembly unit in a perspective view; Fig. 2: Rear of a motor vehicle with assembly unit in a perspective view; Fig. 3: Detailed view of a cross-section of an assembly unit according to Fig. 1; Fig. 4: Detailed view of a cross-section of an assembly unit in an alternative embodiment; and Fig. 5: Motor vehicle with a motor vehicle rear.

[0060] In Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of an assembly unit 1. The assembly unit 1 comprises a mounting plate 4 and a soft component seal 7. A bumper 2, shown here in sections, is attached to the assembly unit 1.

[0061] The bumper 2 comprises two longitudinal members 22 (one of which is shown here), a cross member 19 and a cover 21. The longitudinal member 22 is fastened to the mounting plate 4. For example, the longitudinal member 22 is in a normal direction 16 (compare Fig. 2) of the mounting plate 4 is inserted into a receiving opening of the mounting plate 4 and / or glued or welded to it. The cross member 19 is attached to the two longitudinal members 22. The cover 21 is, in turn, attached to the cross member 19.

[0062] When an object, such as another vehicle, impacts bumper 2, it deforms. The energy of the impact is absorbed by the deformation. For example, more expensive components of a crash management system can be protected in this way, so they are only deformed in crashes with higher impact energy and not, for example, in minor parking bumps.

[0063] The illustrated soft component seal 7 is attached to the mounting plate 4 purely optionally by means of retaining clips 20. For this purpose, the soft component seal 7 rests circumferentially on a plate sealing surface 6 (which is arranged here on the opposite side and therefore not shown) on the mounting plate 4 and engages around an outer edge 11 of the mounting plate 4 by means of the retaining clips 20. The retaining clips 20 thus grip behind the mounting plate 4 and bear against a counter-retaining surface 12 complementary to the plate sealing surface 6.

[0064] The mounting plate 4 further comprises through-holes 25, by means of which the mounting plate 4 can be fastened to a vehicle body shell 10 of a motor vehicle rear end 13 (not shown here). For this purpose, for example, four mounting screws (not shown here) can be guided through the through-hole 25 and screwed into a complementary mating thread in the vehicle body shell 10.

[0065] In Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of a motor vehicle rear end 13 with a mounting unit 1. The motor vehicle rear end 13 comprises a mounting unit 1 and a bumper 2, which can optionally be Fig. 1 are executed.

[0066] The mounting unit 1 and the bumper 2 are shown (for the sake of clarity) separated from the vehicle body shell 10. Dashed lines show an exemplary arrangement of mounting screws by means of which the mounting plate 4 is screwed to the vehicle body shell 10. In such an assembled state, the mounting plate 4 rests on the vehicle body shell 10 by means of a plate contact surface 5 (see Fig. 3 and Fig. 4) to a complementary bodyshell contact surface 9 of the vehicle bodyshell 10. The soft component seal 7 is compressed between a plate sealing surface 6 of the mounting plate 4 and a bodyshell sealing surface 14 of the vehicle bodyshell 10, thus sealing against both sealing surfaces.

[0067] In Fig. 3 is a detailed view of a cross-section of an assembly unit 1 according to Fig. 1. It is shown that the soft component seal 7 rests circumferentially against the plate sealing surface 6 of the mounting plate 4 with a sealing section 23, and the retaining clip 20 encompasses the outer edge 11 of the mounting plate 4 in order to fasten the soft component seal 7 to the mounting plate 4.

[0068] The plate sealing surface 6 is opposite the plate contact surface 5 of the mounting plate 4, which in the mounted state is in contact with a bodyshell contact surface 9 of the vehicle bodyshell 10 (compare Fig. 2), set back. This means that there is a shoulder 8, which forms the plate contact surface 5 and extends in the normal direction 16 (compare Fig. 2) extends to the main extension plane of the mounting plate 4. In the assembled state, a gap 15 is thus formed between the plate sealing surface 6 and the shell sealing surface 14 in the normal direction 16.

[0069] The soft component seal 7 is shown here in a pre-assembled state, i.e., the soft component seal 7 is attached to the mounting plate 4, but the mounting plate 4 is not yet attached to the vehicle body shell 10. Thus, the soft component seal 7 is not compressed and protrudes beyond the plate contact surface 5 in the normal direction 16.

[0070] In Fig. 4 is a detailed view of a cross section of an assembly unit 1 in an alternative embodiment to Fig. 3. The assembly unit 1 shown essentially corresponds to the assembly unit 1 from Fig. 3, which is why reference is made to the description there and only the differences are discussed here.

[0071] The soft component seal 7 encompasses the outer edge 11 of the mounting plate 4 in this embodiment, so that no retaining clips 20 are necessary. The soft component seal 7 and the mounting plate 4 are preferably designed mirror-symmetrically to the main extension plane of the mounting plate 4. Thus, an identical mounting plate 4 and soft component seal 7 can be used for both sides or both longitudinal members 22 by rotating the mounting plate 4 with the pre-assembled soft component seal 7 by 180° (see Fig. 2).

[0072] In Fig. 5 shows a motor vehicle 3 with a motor vehicle rear 13. The motor vehicle rear 13 is, for example, a motor vehicle rear 13 according to Fig.2. The motor vehicle 3 comprises a drive motor 17, as shown, an internal combustion engine arranged in the rear of the motor vehicle 3. The drive motor 17 is designed to provide drive torque. By means of a transmission 24, the drive motor 17 is connected to two drive wheels 18, as shown, in a torque-transmitting manner.
