IMPACT OF THE INVENTION

[0012] According to the present disclosure, it is possible to provide a technique that enables the early restoration of a brake energy recovery function and the effective use of recovered energy. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Fig. Figure 1 is a diagram that schematically shows a vehicle configuration. Fig. Figure 2 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration of an electronic device. Fig. Figure 3 is a diagram to explain a first target temperature and a second target temperature. Fig. Figure 4 is a flowchart showing an example of a SOC control system that implements the control of a heating device in the vehicle. Fig. Figure 5 is a flowchart showing another example of SOC control, which implements the control of the heating device in the vehicle. DESCRIPTION OF EXECUTION FORMS

[0013] Fig. Figure 1 is a diagram that schematically shows a configuration of a vehicle S100. The vehicle S100 is, for example, a hybrid vehicle with a combustion engine and an electric motor that serves as a power source for driving. The vehicle S100 is a large vehicle, such as a truck.

[0014] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the vehicle S100 mainly comprises a motor 10, a motor 20, an accumulator 30, an electronic device 50, and an aftertreatment device 60. One of the features of the vehicle S100 is that the electrical power of the accumulator 30 is used to increase the temperature of the aftertreatment device 60 in order to restore a regenerative braking function when the charge level of the accumulator 30 is high. In this description, controlling a heating device in this way is also referred to as SOC control.

[0015] Engine 10 burns and expands a mixture of fuel and intake air in cylinders to generate heat energy. Engine 10 uses this heat energy to drive a crankshaft, which is a rotating shaft. Engine 10 is, for example, a diesel engine, but its design is not limited to this and it can, for example, be a gasoline engine.

[0016] The output of motor 10 is transmitted via an automatic transmission mechanism (not shown) to a driveshaft Sh. The driveshaft Sh rotates to turn a pair of drive wheels T, enabling the vehicle to move forward or backward.

[0017] Depending on the driving condition of the vehicle S100, the motor 20 operates as either an electric motor or a generator. The motor 20 serves as a power source for rotating the cardan shaft Sh. For example, when the vehicle S100 decelerates, the motor 20 operates as a generator, using the rotational force of the cardan shaft Sh as drive power.

[0018] The accumulator 30 is, for example, a lithium-ion accumulator. The accumulator 30 supplies electrical energy to the motor 20 when the motor 20 operates as the electric motor. When the motor 20 operates as the generator, the accumulator 30 is further charged with electrical energy (in particular, recovered electrical energy, which is generated by converting kinetic energy into electrical energy) produced by the motor 20. That is, the accumulator 30 is electrically connected to the motor 20, which performs energy recovery, and is charged with electrical energy by the motor 20.

[0019] The accumulator 30 is equipped with a residual quantity sensor 75. The residual quantity sensor 75 measures the state of charge (SOC) of the accumulator 30 in order to output the measured state of charge to the electronic device 50.

[0020] An inverter 21 is provided between the motor 20 and the battery 30. The inverter 21 converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) and vice versa. When the motor 20 operates as an electric motor, the inverter 21 converts the DC from the battery 30 into AC to supply electrical energy to the motor 20. When the motor 20 operates as a generator, the inverter 21 converts the AC generated by the motor 20 into DC to supply electrical energy to the battery 30. (Intake manifold and exhaust manifold)

[0021] An intake manifold and an exhaust manifold for the engine 10 in the vehicle S100 are described before the electronic device 50 and the aftertreatment device 60 are described. As in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the vehicle S100 comprises an intake duct P10 for supplying air to the engine 10 and an exhaust duct P11 through which exhaust gas from the engine 10 flows. The intake duct P10 and the exhaust duct P11 may have a conventionally known configuration used in this type of vehicle; therefore, a detailed description thereof is omitted.

[0022] In Fig. In Figure 1, the intake duct P10 extends from an air purifier 11 to the engine 10. The air purifier 11 is a filter for removing contaminants from the air drawn into the engine 10. The air drawn from the air purifier 11 is fed to a turbocharger 12 through the intake duct P10. Although not shown, the intake duct P10 is equipped with an intercooler, an intake throttle valve, or the like.

[0023] The turbocharger 12 compresses the air drawn in from the intake manifold P10 by rotating a turbine using the exhaust gas of the engine 10. Supplying the air compressed by the turbocharger 12 to the engine 10 increases the torque generated by the engine 10 in a combustion process.

[0024] Exhaust channel P11 is connected to the exhaust side of engine 10. Although not shown, vehicle S100 is equipped with an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system that redirects some of the exhaust gas that has flowed into exhaust channel P11 back to an upstream side of engine 10.

[0025] The exhaust duct P11 is equipped with a heating device 16 and the aftertreatment device 60 in addition to the turbocharger 12 described above. A first cleaning device 60A and a second cleaning device 60B are provided in this example as the aftertreatment device 60. These cleaning devices themselves have, for example, conventionally known configurations and functions.

[0026] The heating device 16 is an electric heating device powered by the electrical energy of the accumulator 30. The drive of the heating device 16 is controlled by the electronic device 50. The heating device 16 heats exhaust gas in the exhaust duct P11. The heated exhaust gas, flowing downstream, increases the temperatures in the first cleaning device 60A and the second cleaning device 60B.

[0027] The first cleaning device 60A is located upstream of the second cleaning device 60B along a flow path through which the exhaust gas flows and collects particles in the exhaust gas. The first cleaning device 60A is, for example, a diesel particulate filter (DPD). The first cleaning device 60A is located within the flow path through which the exhaust gas flows and includes a filter for collecting particles in the exhaust gas.

[0028] In particular, the first cleaning device 60A mainly comprises a DOC (diesel oxidation catalyst) 62 and a CSF (catalyzed soot filter) 63. Furthermore, a bypass channel P12 is provided such that it bypasses the first cleaning device 60A.

[0029] The DOC 62 contains a precious metal catalyst and oxidizes unburned gas in the exhaust gas from engine 10. For example, the DOC 62 oxidizes hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides. The CSF 63 is obtained by adding a catalyst to a particulate filter. The CSF 63 is located downstream of the DOC 62.

[0030] A valve 64 is provided in the bypass channel P12, which connects the upstream side of the DOC 62 and the downstream side of the CSF 63. The bypass channel P12 is a channel for supplying exhaust gas to the second cleaning device 60B by bypassing the first cleaning device 60A. The valve 64 is, for example, a solenoid valve. The valve 64 opens and closes the flow path of the bypass channel P12. The valve 64 can adjust the flow by changing the cross-sectional area of the flow path of the bypass channel P12. The operation of the valve 64 is controlled, for example, by the electronic device 50. It should be noted that the bypass channel P12 and the valve 64 are components of the aftertreatment device 60.

[0031] The first cleaning device 60A is equipped with a temperature sensor 71 and a deposit quantity estimation sensor 72.

[0032] Temperature sensor 71 measures the temperature in the first cleaning device 60A, which is part of the aftertreatment device 60. Temperature sensor 71 outputs the measured temperature. For example, temperature sensor 71 measures the temperature of an inlet section of the CSF 63 (the exhaust gas temperature).

[0033] The deposit amount estimator 72, for example, estimates the amount of PM, which is a particle, that has accumulated in the CSF 63. The deposit amount estimator 72 outputs the estimated amount of PM. The deposit amount estimator 72 can estimate that PM has accumulated in excess of a certain amount. The temperature sensor 71 and the deposit amount estimator 72 are both electrically connected to the electronic device 50. The electronic device 50 acquires output values from these sensors, as described later.

[0034] The second cleaning device 60B is located downstream of the first cleaning device 60A. The second cleaning device 60B is a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) cleaning device, which includes a selective reduction catalyst that serves as a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas. In this example, the second cleaning device 60B comprises an SCR 65 and an ammonia slip catalyst (ASC) 66.

[0035] The SCR 65 removes nitrogen oxide from the exhaust gas of the engine 10. The SCR 65 is a selective reduction catalyst and selectively reduces nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas using a reducing agent, for example to remove nitrogen oxide.

[0036] The ASC 66 is an ammonia slip catalyst. The ammonia slip catalyst is designed to prevent excess ammonia, not used for reduction, from being released into the ambient air.

[0037] The second cleaning device 60B, for example, is equipped with a temperature sensor 73 that measures the temperature of the SCR 65. The temperature sensor 73 outputs the measured temperature to the electronic device 50. (Electronic device)

[0038] Fig. Figure 2 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration of the electronic device 50. The electronic device 50 is a control device that manages the operation of every device in the vehicle S100. The electronic device 50 is, for example, an electronic control unit (ECU). As shown in Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the electronic device 50 comprises a control section 51 and a storage section 55.

[0039] Memory section 55 comprises a storage device, such as a memory module, a hard disk drive, or a solid-state drive (SSD). Memory section 55 stores data, such as a program and a table, to implement each function of the vehicle S100. Memory section 55 stores a first threshold and a second threshold, which is lower than the first threshold, relating to the state of charge of the accumulator 30. Memory section 55 stores a first target temperature and a second target temperature, which is lower than the first target temperature, for the heating device 16. Memory section 55 stores a third threshold, also relating to the state of charge of the accumulator 30, to stop the operation of the heating device 16.

[0040] The control section 51 comprises a read section 52, a heating device control section 53, and a valve control section 54. The control section 51 is, for example, a computer processor and functions as the respective sections by executing a program stored in the memory section 55. The control section 51 can be configured by a combination of one or more processors and one or more electronic circuits.

[0041] The read section 52 reads the charge level of the accumulator 30. In particular, the read section 52 reads the charge level of the accumulator 30, for example, from the residual quantity sensor 75, which is provided in the accumulator 30.

[0042] The input section 52 also reads the temperature in the post-treatment device 60. The input section 52 can read any of the temperatures of the first cleaning device 60A and the second cleaning device 60B. In the present embodiment, however, the input section 52 reads both of these temperatures by way of example.

[0043] The input section 52 also reads the estimated amount of PM, which is the amount of particles deposited in the CSF 63. For example, input section 52 reads the estimated amount of PM from the deposit amount estimator 72. It should be noted that the deposit amount estimator 72 does not necessarily have to output the amount of PM and can output any information indicating that PM has been deposited.

[0044] The input section 52 also reads in a cumulative distance traveled, which is, for example, the distance traveled by vehicle S100 since the last DPD regeneration. Since the electronic device 50 can calculate the cumulative distance traveled, for example, using a conventionally known method, a detailed description of this is omitted.

[0045] The heating device control section 53 controls the heating device 16. The heating device 16 increases the temperature of the exhaust gas that has passed through the heating device 16, and the exhaust gas flowing through the first cleaning device 60A and the second cleaning device 60B increases the temperature of each catalyst provided in these devices.

[0046] As described above, the accumulator 30 is charged with recovered electrical energy by the motor 20, which acts as the generator. If the charge level of the accumulator 30 becomes equal to or greater than a certain level, the braking energy of the vehicle S100 cannot be sufficiently recovered. Accordingly, in the present embodiment, the heating device control section 53 performs the following control to restore the braking energy recovery function at an early stage. (Restoration operation of the brake energy recovery function)

[0047] To restore the regenerative braking function, a control mechanism can be implemented to reduce the charge level of the accumulator 30. Accordingly, the heating device control section 53 activates the heating device 16 when the charge level of the accumulator 30, as read by the input section 52, is equal to or greater than the first threshold. The first threshold can be any charge level, for example, "80%". Operating the heating device 16 consumes electrical energy from the accumulator 30 and reduces its charge level.

[0048] The heating device control section 53 stops the heating device 16 when the charge level of the accumulator 30 has decreased to, for example, the third threshold. The third threshold is any value less than or equal to the first threshold. The heating device control section 53 can also stop the operation of the heating device 16 after a predetermined time period. (Another example of a condition for stopping the heating device)

[0049] In addition, the heating device control section 53 can stop the operation of the heating device 16 under at least one of the following conditions: (i) a DPD regeneration control has been started; (ii) the temperature of the aftertreatment device 60 or of the exhaust gas has become abnormally high (that is, the temperature has become equal to or higher than a certain setpoint); or (iii) the key of the vehicle S100 has been turned to a shutdown position. (Operation according to the catalyst temperature)

[0050] The heating device control section 53 can control the heating device 16, for example, in different modes according to the state of charge of the accumulator 30 and the temperature of the catalyst of the aftertreatment device 60. For example, the heating device control section 53 sets the heating device 16 to the first setpoint temperature when the state of charge is equal to or greater than the first threshold, and the heating device control section 53 sets the heating device 16 to the second setpoint temperature when the state of charge is less than the first threshold and equal to or greater than the second threshold. The second threshold is lower than the first threshold and is, for example, "70%". The first threshold is a value indicating that the priority for reducing the state of charge of the accumulator 30 is high, and the second threshold is a value indicating that the priority for reducing the state of charge is, for example, medium.

[0051] Fig. Figure 3 is a diagram illustrating the first and second setpoint temperatures. The first setpoint temperature is a temperature at which the heating device's electrical energy consumption is high and is set to a relatively high temperature, as indicated by reference a1. The second setpoint temperature is a temperature at which the heating device's electrical energy consumption is low and is set lower than the first setpoint temperature, as indicated by reference a2. For example, the first setpoint temperature is set as a DPD regeneration support mode. The second setpoint temperature is set as a DPD preheating mode at a lower temperature than the DPD regeneration support mode.

[0052] If the charge level of accumulator 30 is equal to or greater than 80%, indicating a high priority for reducing its charge, the heating device control section 53 operates the heating device 16 in a mode where it maintains a relatively high temperature. This can reduce the charge level of accumulator 30 quickly. Conversely, if the charge level is less than 80% but equal to or greater than 70%, the heating device 16 operates in a mode where it maintains a relatively low temperature. (Determining the drive mode)

[0053] The drive mode of the heating device 16 is determined solely based on the charge level of the accumulator 30 as described above. However, the drive mode of the heating device 16 can also be determined based on the charge level of the accumulator 30 and the temperature of the aftertreatment device 60. For example, the heating device control section 53 sets the heating device 16 to the second setpoint temperature when the charge level is less than the first threshold and equal to or greater than the second threshold, and the temperature in the aftertreatment device 60 is lower than a predetermined setpoint. Specifically, the heating device control section 53 sets the heating device 16 to the second setpoint temperature when the temperature in the aftertreatment device 60 is lower than the predetermined setpoint, indicating that the temperature in the aftertreatment device 60 is relatively low.

[0054] The heating device control section 53 does not need to operate the heating device 16 if the temperature in the aftertreatment device 60 is equal to or higher than the predetermined setpoint (in other words, the need to increase the temperature of the catalyst of the aftertreatment device 60 is low).

[0055] According to such a control system, if the priority for reducing the charge level of the accumulator 30 is medium, the electrical power of the accumulator 30 can be effectively used to increase the temperature of the catalyst, taking into account that the temperature of the catalyst of the aftertreatment device 60 is low. Increasing the temperature of the catalyst can improve its performance in cleaning exhaust gases. (SCR heating)

[0056] In the vehicle S100 of the present embodiment, the first cleaning device 60A and the second cleaning device 60B are as shown in Fig. The SCR 65 is arranged as shown in Figure 1, and it is intended for the second cleaning device 60B, which is located downstream of the first cleaning device 60A. If maintaining or improving the exhaust gas cleaning performance of an SCR catalyst is a priority, exhaust gas heated by the heating device 16 can be fed directly to the second cleaning device 60B via the bypass channel P12. This allows the temperature of the SCR 65 to be effectively increased by using heat from the heating device 16, while consuming the electrical power of the accumulator 30, thereby maintaining or improving the cleaning performance. A specific example is described below.

[0057] The heating device control section 53 includes a valve control section 54, as described above. The valve control section 54 controls the operation of the valve 64. DPD regeneration should be prioritized when it is required. Therefore, it is preferable to perform the heating of the SCR 65 when the need for DPD regeneration is low.

[0058] Accordingly, the valve control section 54 performs the following control. First, the read section 52 reads the cumulative distance traveled by vehicle S100 since the last DPD regeneration. The valve control section 54 then controls the heating device 16 and actuates the valve 64 to open it if (i) the cumulative distance traveled by the read section 52 since a regeneration operation was performed is less than a predetermined setpoint (e.g., 100 km); (ii) the state of charge of the accumulator 30 is less than the first threshold and equal to or greater than the second threshold, similar to the description above; and (iii) the temperature in the aftertreatment device 60 is lower than the predetermined setpoint.

[0059] As a result, exhaust gas heated by the heating device 16 is fed to the second cleaning device 60B via the bypass channel P12. In a case where the priority of performing DPD regeneration is low, such control allows exhaust gas heated by the heating device 16 to be fed to the second cleaning device 60B via the bypass channel P12, thereby efficiently increasing the temperature of the SCR 65. (Example of the company)

[0060] Fig. Figure 4 is a flowchart showing an example of the SOC control system, which controls the heating device in the S100 vehicle. It should be noted that all in Fig. The four steps shown are not necessarily required and some steps may be omitted without changing the scope of protection of the present disclosure.

[0061] First, in step S1, the reading section 52 reads in data such as the charge level of the accumulator 30 and the temperature in the post-treatment device 60.

[0062] Next, in step S2, the heating device control section 53 determines whether the charge level of the accumulator 30, which is read by the read section 52, is equal to or greater than the first threshold value. If "yes" is determined in step S1, the heating device control section 53 sets the heating device 16 to the first setpoint temperature in step S3. Specifically, the heating device control section 53 sets the heating device 16 so that the electrical energy from the accumulator 30 is supplied to the heating device 16 to heat it.

[0063] If "No" is determined in step S2, the heating device control section 53 determines in step S4 whether the charge level of the accumulator 30 is equal to or greater than the second threshold. If "No" is determined in step S4 (that is, the charge level of the accumulator 30 is not high, meaning that the need to reduce the charge level is low), the heating device control section 53 terminates the processing.

[0064] If "Yes" is determined in step S4, the heating device control section 53 determines in step S5 whether the temperature in the aftertreatment device 60 is lower than the predetermined setpoint. For example, if the inlet temperature of the CSF 63 (the exhaust gas temperature) is lower than the predetermined setpoint, meaning that increasing the catalyst temperature of the aftertreatment device 60 and thus increasing the cleaning performance is advantageous, the heating device control section 53 controls the heating device 16 in step S6. Specifically, the heating device control section 53 sets the heating device 16 to the second setpoint temperature (step S6).

[0065] If step S5 determines “No” (i.e., the exhaust gas temperature is high, which means that the need to increase the catalyst temperature is low), the heating device control section 53 terminates the processing.

[0066] After the heating device 16 is activated, the heating device control section 53 determines in step S7 whether the charge level of the accumulator 30 has decreased to the third threshold value, and if the charge level has decreased to the third threshold value ("Yes" in step S7), the heating device control section 53 stops the operation of the heating device 16 in step S8. This completes the series of processes. (another example from the company)

[0067] Fig. Figure 5 is a flowchart showing another example of SOC control, which implements the control of the heating device in the vehicle. Fig. 5 shows a modification of step S6 in the flowchart of Fig. 4. Since the other steps are the same as those of Fig. 4 are, renewed descriptions will be given, which with Fig. 4 agree, omit.

[0068] In the flowchart of Fig. In step 5, the SCR is heated as described above. After step S5, the heating device control section 53 determines in step S6a whether the cumulative distance traveled by the vehicle S100 since the previous DPD regeneration is less than the predetermined target value.

[0069] If "Yes" is detected in step S6a (particularly if the cumulative distance traveled has not reached a value set as the predetermined target value, such as 100 km), the heater control section 53 activates the heater 16 (step S6b). As an example, the heater control section 53 sets the heater 16 to the second target temperature. The valve control section 54 actuates the valve 64 and opens the bypass channel P12 to supply exhaust gas to the second cleaning device 60B. If "No" is detected in step S6a, the heater control section 53 terminates processing.

[0070] If the priority of performing DPD regeneration is low, such control allows exhaust gas heated by the heating device 16 to be fed to the second cleaning device 60B through the bypass channel P12, thereby efficiently increasing the temperature of the SCR 65.

[0071] In the above description, it should be noted that the heating device 16 operates at the first setpoint temperature and the second setpoint temperature, but the temperature of the heating device 16 (in other words, the amount of electrical energy supplied by the accumulator 30) can be changed as needed. Fig. 4. Steps S4 to S6 are carried out in addition to steps S2 and S3, but steps S4 to S6 can be omitted taking into account the simple reduction of the charge level of the accumulator 30. (Effect of the embodiment)

[0072] As described above, according to the present embodiment, when the charge level of the accumulator 30 is equal to or greater than the first threshold, the heating device 16 is operated to reduce the electrical energy of the accumulator 30 so that the brake energy recovery function can be restored early.

[0073] Furthermore, according to the present embodiment, as with reference to the Fig. 3 and Fig. As described in section 4, the heating device 16 is set to the first target temperature or the second target temperature according to the state of charge. In particular, if the priority for reducing the state of charge of the accumulator 30 is high, the heating device 16 is set to the first target temperature so that the brake energy recovery function can be restored early.
