AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing inductive sensors for position detection lack precision, versatility, and reliability, particularly in critical applications like automotive engineering, where high accuracy and fault tolerance are essential.

Method used

The use of a dual-transmitter inductive sensor with two inductive transformers arranged side by side on a printed circuit board, each with a receiving coil and excitation coil, allows for more precise position detection and data integrity through sensor fusion, enabling additional parameter measurement and fault detection, and provides redundancy for improved reliability.

Benefits of technology

The dual-transmitter configuration enhances precision, reliability, and flexibility in position detection, particularly in automotive applications, allowing for more accurate and robust measurements with reduced interference and improved fault tolerance.

Abstract

The invention relates to an inductive sensor for detecting a position, comprising: - a circuit board extending in a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction transverse to the longitudinal direction, - a first inductive transformer arranged on the circuit board for the secondary output of a first sensor signal dependent on a first coupling, - a second inductive transformer arranged on the circuit board for the secondary output of a second sensor signal dependent on a second coupling, and - a coupling element arranged in a vertical direction transverse to the longitudinal direction and transverse to the transverse direction above the two transformers, which coupling element is configured to influence the coupling in the two transformers depending on the position to be detected, - wherein each transformer has at least one receiving coil and an excitation coil enclosing the receiving coil,so that a periodic alternating voltage signal applied to the excitation coil can induce the respective sensor signal dependent on the respective coupling into the receiving coils, wherein the receiving coil has a periodically recurring loop structure with which a receiving geometry is formed.
