Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a protective cap device which can be attached to a stock of a long weapon, comprising a protective cap with an inner side close to a stock end face and an outer side remote from the stock end face, wherein the protective cap can be releasably and firmly connected to the stock by means of a latching device arranged partly in the region of the inner side of the protective cap and partly in the region of the stock end face, wherein in order to release the protective cap from the stock end face, a push button of the latching device must be moved in the opposite direction to the protective cap.
[0002] Protective cap devices of the type mentioned above are used in the prior art to provide a stock end face with an elastic, shock-absorbing protective cap which at least partially absorbs the recoil energy of a fired long weapon.
[0003] The known protective caps, however, have the disadvantage that they are permanently attached to the front surface of a long gun stock and are therefore not replaceable.
[0004] The document US 2011 / 0 302 817 A1 discloses a device for detachably connecting a recoil pad to a rifle stock, comprising an interchangeable recoil pad assembly with a recoil pad and a spring-loaded locking means mounted on a stock end of the weapon rifle stock for locking the recoil pad assembly to the stock and for unlocking the pad assembly without the use of tools, wherein the locking means comprises a release button housed in the stock.
[0005] The document US 837 455 A discloses a pistol with a butt plate which includes a housing which is closed on one side and open on the other side, wherein a soft rubber cover is provided which is carried by the open side of the housing, and wherein the housing and the cover form an air chamber for cushioning the cover, and means are provided for removing the housing from the pistol without removing the soft rubber cover or releasing the air.
[0006] From the document DE 10 2017 112 531 A1 there is a butt plate for a rifle stock with a support part and a damping part fastened to the support part, wherein on a front side of the support part facing the rifle stock there are arranged two forwardly projecting and spaced-apart retaining webs for locking fastening to two opposite side cheeks of the rifle stock.
[0007] The document DE 601 19 184 T2 discloses a piston damper for the stock of a personal firearm which is held against the shoulder to reduce the recoil effect of the firearm when firing ammunition by distributing the recoil energy, with - an outer shell which is elastically variable in shape as a result of external pressure and therefore transfers the recoil energy into the interior of the shell or housing, - an internal high-viscosity element hermetically sealed in the outer shell or housing, used to absorb and distribute the recoil energy transmitted through the outer shell, as well as to allow external conformation of the piston damper and even distribution of pressure on the supporting shoulder, and - a semi-rigid support element formed integrally with the outer shell and having a device for releasably anchoring the piston damper to the shaft, wherein - the fastening device comprises two anchoring sleeves for securing the shaft and is further provided with a locking / release spring which cooperates with the anchoring sleeves, the spring moving in a direction perpendicular to the sleeves between a locking and a release position.
[0008] From the document DE 10 2005 004 978 A1 an adjustable butt plate for a handgun, in particular a rifle, is known, having a base plate which can be adjustably fastened to a stock part of the handgun, a base plate which is adjustably mounted on the base plate and at least one end part which can be fastened to the base plate, wherein the base plate is arranged so as to be pivotable about a transverse axis on an intermediate piece which is guided displaceably on the base plate via guide elements and can be fixed in a desired position by at least one retaining screw.
[0009] The object of the invention is therefore to create a protective cap device with the aid of which protective caps of different sizes and material properties can be releasably and firmly attached to a stock end face of a long weapon.
[0010] For a protective cap device of the type mentioned at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the push button of the latching device for releasing the protective cap from the shaft end face is moved in a predetermined direction parallel to the shaft end face and the protective cap is moved in the opposite direction to this predetermined direction, wherein on the inside of the protective cap along its center line there is provided a slide rail which projects beyond an inner surface of the protective cap and has two opposing slide strands, wherein bulges are provided in sections on each slide strand which, after insertion into corresponding indentations of opposing guide rails of a butt cap insert arranged within a central recess in the shaft end face and movement along the guide rails, engage under guide rail projections for connecting the protective cap to the relevant guide rail.
[0011] Preferred embodiments of the invention are the subject of the subclaims, the elements of which act in the sense of a further improvement of the approach to solving the problem underlying the invention.
[0012] In the protective cap device according to the invention, the combination of features specified above achieves the creation of a protective cap device with the aid of which protective caps of different sizes and material properties can be effectively and safely releasably attached to a stock end face of a long weapon.
[0013] According to a first preferred embodiment of the protective cap device according to the invention, the shaft end face and the protective cap completely covering it are designed to be long and narrow, having a long center line, wherein the push button of the locking device for releasing the protective cap from the shaft end face is to be moved in the direction of the long center line and the protective cap is to be moved in the opposite direction along the long center line.
[0014] According to an important preferred embodiment of the protective cap device according to the invention, the locking device comprises a projection mounted in the region of the shaft end face, which interacts with a groove provided on a flap pivotably mounted about a pivot axis. The projection is formed, in particular, centrally within the central recess of the shaft end face.
[0015] The flap is preferably pre-tensioned towards the projection by means of a pre-tensioning spring, the projection engaging, when the protective cap is connected to the shaft end face, in the groove provided in the region of an end of the flap remote from the pivot axis in order to lock the protective cap for movement along the centre line in relation to the shaft end face.
[0016] According to a further preferred embodiment of the protective cap device according to the invention, one end of the flap arranged between the two sliding strands of the protective cap is designed as a slotted guide, wherein the push button, which is displaceably mounted along the sliding strands arranged parallel to the inner surface of the protective cap, is provided with a ramp that interacts with the slotted guide. Upon movement of the push button and thus the ramp toward the slotted guide, the flap can be pivoted against the force of the biasing spring to release the projection of the shaft end face from engagement with the groove of the flap.
[0017] Furthermore, a locking device is provided on the shaft end face which, in conjunction with a counterpart attached to the protective cap, prevents movement of the protective cap beyond a surface of the shaft end face.
[0018] A part of the stock end face remote from the projection is preferably formed by an end piece of a stock comb covering a system box of the long weapon, wherein the end piece comes to lie in a recess within the stock end face in such a way that its surface forms a flat plane with the stock end face.
[0019] Furthermore, two or more pins are preferably provided in the recess within the stock face, which engage in respective holes in the end piece of the stock comb for the purpose of robust placement of the stock comb on the system box.
[0020] The protective cap device according to the invention is explained below using a preferred embodiment, which is illustrated in the figure of the drawing.
