Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention

[0001] The present invention relates to band saw machines and, more particularly, to a dust collection structure for band saw machines. 2. Description of the state of the art

[0002] In conventional band saws, a dust collection assembly must be positioned at a considerable distance from the worktable because the worktable can be tilted at a predetermined angle. Otherwise, the dust collection assembly interferes and collides with the worktable, causing sawdust to fall through the gap between the dust collection assembly and the worktable, resulting in ineffective dust extraction. Therefore, there is still room for improvement. DE202009011781 U1 discloses a machine base for a saw with a shaft hole in which a saw blade is arranged and passes through the shaft hole. A worktable with a shaft tube rotatably inserted into the shaft hole of the machine base, so that the worktable can be rotated relative to the saw blade by rotating the shaft tube. DE602004003623 T2 discloses a saw with an internal dust collection system.A single electric motor drives the saw and an air pump, which extracts any resulting debris. A dust collection cover surrounds part of the cutting element and forms an outlet connected to the air pump inlet. CN2726798 Y discloses a chip collector of a band saw machine, which is arranged at the lower part of the band saw machine. The chip collector comprises a dust collection unit and a chip guide unit. An impeller is fixedly connected to a lower flywheel edge of the dust collection unit. The chip guide unit is provided with a collecting plate for the chips. A through-hole below the collecting plate communicates with the impeller. Chips can be sucked in by the impeller through the chip guide unit and then expelled from the machine body. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0003] An object of the present invention is to provide a dust collection structure for a band saw machine.

[0004] To achieve the above-mentioned object, the dust collection structure of the band saw machine comprises a fixed cover, a connecting member, a movable cover, and a spring. The fixed cover has a fixed portion fixed to a fixed table of the band saw machine, a first front plate, a first rear plate opposite to the first front plate, and a first side plate connected to the first front plate and the first rear plate, such that the fixed cover surrounds a saw blade. In addition, the first side plate has a first beveled edge oriented in a pivoting direction of a work table pivotally connected to the fixed table. The connecting member is configured to thereby fix the fixed cover to the fixed table via the fixed portion of the fixed cover. The movable cover is pivotally connected to the fixed cover and is urged by the worktable to rotate relative to the fixed cover. Additionally, the movable cover includes a second front plate pivotally connected to the first front plate of the fixed cover and a second side plate that abuts the first side plate of the fixed cover. The spring is arranged between the fixed cover and the movable cover to exert a restoring force on the movable cover.

[0005] From the above, it can be seen that by pivotally connecting the movable cover to the fixed cover, the movable cover is forced by the worktable to rotate when the worktable is tilted. This can prevent sawdust from escaping and enable easy dust extraction, thus achieving the purpose of the present invention.

[0006] Preferably, a pivoting member is pivotally connected to a first pivoting portion of the fixed cover and a second pivoting portion of the movable cover.

[0007] Preferably, the fixed portion of the fixed cover is connected to the first front panel.

[0008] Preferably, the fixed portion of the fixed cover is connected to the first side plate.

[0009] Preferably, the fixed portion of the fixed cover is connected to the first back plate.

[0010] Preferably, the connecting element is a magnetic element.

[0011] Preferably, the connecting element is installed in an installation hole of the fixed portion of the fixed cover.

[0012] Preferably, the fixed cover has a first stop portion that abuts against a second stop portion of the movable cover.

[0013] Preferably, the second side plate of the movable cover has a second beveled edge near the first beveled edge of the fixed cover.

[0014] Preferably, the first rear plate has a first outlet opening corresponding to an arcuate frame of the work table, wherein the second front plate has a second outlet opening corresponding to the arcuate frame of the work table.

[0015] Further advantages and features of the present invention will be fully understood by reference to the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which like reference numerals designate like components of the structure. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0016] As in the Fig. As shown in Figures 1-9, a dust collection assembly 1 of the present invention is installed on a band saw. The band saw includes a fixed table 2, a work table 3 pivotally connected to the fixed table 2, and a saw blade (not shown).

[0017] The dust collection assembly 1 comprises a fixed cover 40, a plurality of connecting elements 60, a pivoting element 70, a movable cover 80, and a spring 90.

[0018] The fixed cover 40 includes a first front plate 41, a first side plate 42, a first rear plate 43, two fixed sections 45, a first pivoting section 47, and a first stopper 50. The first side plate 42 is connected to the first front plate 41 and the first rear plate 43 so as to enclose the saw blade. The first side plate 42 has a first beveled edge 421 oriented in a pivoting direction of the worktable 3. The first rear plate 43 has a first outlet opening 431 corresponding to an arcuate frame 31 of the worktable 3. The two fixed sections 45 are connected to the bottom surfaces of the first front and rear plates 41, 43 for attachment to the fixed table 2, and the two fixed sections 45 each have a plurality of mounting holes 46. The first pivoting section 47 is located at the top edge of the first front plate 41.The first stopper 50 is attached to the first side plate 42 and is provided with a first stopper portion 51 located on the inside of the first side plate 42.

[0019] The connecting element 60 is used to attach the fixed cover 40 to the fixed or stationary table 2. In this embodiment, the connecting element 60 is a magnetic element, and the table 2 is made of magnetic metal material. The connecting elements 60 are mounted in the mounting holes 46 of the fixed cover 40.

[0020] The pivoting element 70 is attached to the first pivoting portion 47 of the fixed cover 40.

[0021] The movable cover 80 includes a second front plate 81, a second side plate 82, and a second pivot portion 85. The second front plate 81 abuts the worktable 3, further corresponds to the first front plate 41 of the fixed cover 40, and has a second outlet opening 811 adapted to the arcuate frame 31 of the worktable 3. The second side plate 82 is connected to the second front plate 81 and attached to the first side plate 42 of the fixed cover 40. The second side plate 82 has a second beveled edge 821 near the first beveled edge 421 of the fixed cover 40 and a second stop portion 823 abutting against the first stop portion 51 of the first stopper 50 of the fixed cover 40. The second pivot portion 85 is located below the second front plate 81 and is pivotally connected to the pivot member 70.Thus, the movable cover 80 can be pushed by the work table 3 to pivot relative to the fixed cover 40.

[0022] In this embodiment, the spring 90 is a torsion spring. The spring 90 is mounted on the pivot element 70 and has two ends that bear against the first front plate 41 of the fixed cover 40 and the second front plate 81 of the movable cover 80 to exert a restoring force on the movable cover 80.

[0023] When the work table 3 is horizontal and not inclined, the movable cover 80 is located close to the bottom of the work table 3, and the upper edges of the second front plate 81 and the second side plate 82 of the movable cover 80 are very close to the work table 3 or abut against the work table 3, so that the sawdust cannot easily fall out between the movable cover 80 and the work table 3.

[0024] As in the Fig. As shown, when the worktable 3 is tilted at an angle, the movable cover 80 is pressed by the worktable 3 to rotate relative to the fixed cover 40 with the pivot member 70 as the center. At this time, the upper edges of the second front plate 81 and the second side plate 82 still remain close to the worktable 3, so that the sawdust cannot easily fall out between the movable cover 80 and the worktable 3.

[0025] According to the above-mentioned structure, the dust collection structure 1 of the present invention prevents sawdust from leaking out and facilitates suction, thereby achieving the purpose of the present invention.

[0026] Since one of the fixed sections 45 of the fixed cover 40 is horizontal and the other of the fixed sections 45 of the fixed cover 40 is vertical, the stability of the multidirectional fixation is further improved. Furthermore, the second beveled edge 821 allows the movable cover 80 to prevent collision with components of the band saw machine during tilting.

[0027] In addition to the above-mentioned embodiment, the present invention can also be implemented as follows: For example, the pivoting element 70 can be formed directly on the fixed cover 40 or the pivoting element 70 can be formed directly on the movable cover 80.

[0028] Alternatively, the first stop portion 51 and the second stop portion 823 are not necessarily required. The movable cover 80 may be directly adjacent to the work table 3. Alternatively, the first stop portion 51 need not be provided on the first stop member 50 and may be formed integrally with the first side plate 42 of the fixed cover 40 without requiring the first stop member 50.

[0029] Alternatively, the fixed portion 45 of the fixed cover 40 is not limited to two, and the fixed cover 40 may have one fixed portion 45. The fixed portion 45 may also be connected to the first side plate 42.

[0030] Alternatively, the connecting element 60 is not limited to several, but may also be provided individually to achieve the connecting effect.

[0031] Alternatively, the connecting element 60 is not limited to the magnetic element listed above, but may also be other connecting elements, such as a bolt or a hook and loop fastener.

[0032] Having regard to the invention thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.
