Description

BACKGROUNDTechnical FieldThe present disclosure relates to a method of manufacturing a battery and a battery.Related ArtLithium ion secondary batteries are typically manufactured by injecting an electrolyte solution into an outer body in which an electrode body including an electrode and a separator is accommodated. In order to increase the electrode density, the electrode body is subjected to a treatment such as pressurization with high pressure or adhesion of an electrode to a separator with an adhesive or the like. The treatment can prevent an electrolyte solution from entering the electrode body, and an improvement in the efficiency of the liquid injection process is desired. As a method for improving the permeability of an electrolyte solution into an electrode body, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open (JP-A) No. 2002-15773 proposes a method in which, in connecting an electrode and a separator constituting an electrode body, a region in which the electrode and the separator are not connected to each other is provided.Since the method described in JP-A No. 2002-15773 requires a process in which a part of the electrode and the separator are not connected to each other to increase the permeability to an electrolyte solution, there is room for improvement in operation efficiency.SUMMARYIn view of the foregoing, an object of an embodiment of the present disclosure is to provide a method for manufacturing a battery and a battery in which an electrolyte solution can easily enter an electrode body. The means for solving the above-described problem include the following embodiments.<1> A method for manufacturing a battery, the method comprising:a first process of mounting an electrode body in an interior space of an outer body;a second operation of supplying an electrolyte solution to the inner space of the outer body on which the electrode body has been disposed; anda third operation of pressurizing the outer body to which the electrolytic solution has been supplied in a region corresponding to a periphery of the electrode body, the interior of the outer body has a larger volume than the electrode body.<2> The method for manufacturing a battery according to <1>, wherein the pressurization is performed so that the electrolyte solution is moved toward the electrode body at the periphery of the electrode body.<3> A method for manufacturing a battery according to <1> or <2>, wherein the method includes, together with the pressurization or after the pressurization, an operation of bending the part of the outer body corresponding to a periphery of the electrode body toward one of main surfaces of the battery.<4> A battery including a first outer body, a second outer body, and an electrode body disposed between the first outer body and the second outer body, wherein the first outer body and the second outer body each include a region X contacting the electrode body, and a region Y not contacting the electrode body, the region Y is composed of a region Y 1 in which the first outer body and the second outer body are joined, and a region Y 2 in which the first outer body and the second outer body are not joined.<5> The battery according to <4>, wherein an area of the region Y2 corresponds to 5% or more of an area of the region X.<6> The battery according to <4> or <5>, wherein an area of the region Y2 corresponds to 5% or more of an area of the region Y1.<7> The battery according to any one of <4> to <6>, wherein the region Y of the first outer body and the second outer body is bent toward one of the main surfaces of the battery.According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, it is possible to provide a method for manufacturing a battery and a battery in which an electrolyte solution can easily enter an electrode body.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGSExemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are described in detail on the basis of the following figures, wherein: FIG. 1 is a plan view schematically showing an example of the configuration of a battery; FIG. 2 is a sectional view schematically showing an example of the configuration of a battery; FIG. 3 is a sectional view schematically showing an example of the configuration of a battery; FIG. 4 is a plan view schematically showing an example of the configuration of a battery; FIG. 5 is a sectional view schematically showing an example of the configuration of a battery; FIG. 6 is a sectional view schematically showing an example of the configuration of a battery; FIG. 7 is a diagram schematically showing an example of application of a battery in an electric vehicle; FIG. 8 is a diagram schematically showing an example of the configuration of a battery module; FIG. 9 is a diagram schematically showing an example of the configuration of a battery module; and FIG. 10 is a diagram schematically showing an example of the configuration of a battery cell included in a battery module.DETAILED DESCRIPTIONIn the present disclosure, a numerical range indicated by "to" means a range in which the numerical values described before and after "to" are included as minimum and maximum values, respectively. In numerical ranges described stepwise in the present disclosure, an upper limit value or a lower limit value described in a certain numerical range may be replaced with an upper limit value or a lower limit value of another numerical range described stepwise. In the numerical ranges described in the present disclosure, an upper limit value or a lower limit value described in a certain numerical range may be replaced with a value indicated in the examples. In the present disclosure, the term "method" includes not only independent operations, and even in a case where an operation cannot be clearly distinguished from another operation, it falls under this term as long as the intended purpose of the operation is achieved. In a case where an embodiment in the present disclosure is explained with reference to the drawings, the configuration of the embodiment is not limited to the configuration illustrated in the drawings. Moreover, the sizes of the elements in the respective drawings are conceptual, and the relative relationships between the sizes of the elements are not limited thereto.< For Manufacturing Battery>A first embodiment according to the present disclosure is a method of manufacturing a battery, the method comprising:a first process of mounting an electrode body in an interior space of an outer body;a second operation of supplying an electrolyte solution to the inner space of the outer body on which the electrode body has been disposed; anda third operation of pressurizing the outer body to which the electrolytic solution has been supplied in a region corresponding to a periphery of the electrode body, the interior of the outer body has a larger volume than the electrode body.In a conventional method of manufacturing a battery, an outer body for accommodating an electrode body has a volume approximately equal to the volume of an electrode body. Moreover, a certain time is required to allow an electrolyte solution to penetrate into an electrode body. Accordingly, it is difficult to supply an electrolyte solution to an inner space of an outer body in a single operation in an amount that is finally absorbed by the electrode body. Therefore, in a conventional method, a first injection operation is performed to supply an electrolyte solution in an amount not larger than the volume of an inner space of an outer body, and an interval is provided to wait until the electrolyte solution enters the electrode body. Thereafter, a second injection process is performed so that a sufficient amount of the electrolyte solution penetrates into the electrode body.In the method of the present disclosure, an outer body is used, the interior of which has a larger volume than the electrode body. Therefore, it is possible to inject an electrolyte solution in an amount that is finally absorbed by the electrode body in a single operation. In the method of the present disclosure, an outer body used for manufacturing a battery has an inner space that has a larger volume than an electrode body. Therefore, at the end of the liquid injection process, electrolyte solution that has not been absorbed by the electrode body remains on a periphery of the electrode body. In the method of the present disclosure, the outer body is pressurized in an area corresponding to the periphery of the electrode after the injection process. By the pressurization, the electrolyte solution on the periphery of the electrode body is moved toward the electrode body, thereby promoting permeation thereof into the electrode body.According to the method of the present disclosure, for example, it is possible to improve the efficiency of the injection process without performing a process for increasing the permeability of an electrode body to an electrolyte solution. The processes within the scope of the method of the present disclosure are explained below.(First Operation)In the first process, the electrode body is disposed in an inner space of the outer body, the inner space of the outer body having a larger volume than the electrode body. The type of the outer body is not particularly limited as long as it can accommodate the electrode body. In order to pressurize the outer body to which the electrolytic solution has been supplied in a region corresponding to the periphery of the electrode body, the outer body is preferably a flexible plate-shaped object having a small thickness. The outer body may be made of a single element or composed of two or more elements. If the outer body is, for example, a plate-shaped object, the outer body can be composed of a single plate-shaped object or of two plate-shaped objects. As the outer body, a laminated body including a metal layer containing metal such as aluminum and a heat seal layer (i.e., a laminate film) can be used. Therefore, the battery manufactured by the method of the present disclosure may be a battery using a laminate film as an outer body (i.e., a laminate battery).Examples of the method for performing the first process in a case where a laminate film is used as the outer body include the following Method 1 and Method 2.Method 1: Method in which, in a state in which the electrode body is interposed between a half-folded laminate film or between two laminated films stacked one above the other, the laminate film (or laminate films) is joined at a periphery of the electrode body by heat sealingMethod 2: Method for joining a periphery of a half-folded laminate film or two laminated films stacked by heat-sealing and disposing the electrode body in a space surrounded by the joined part of the laminate film (or laminate films)If necessary, a recessed portion for receiving the electrode body may be formed in the laminate sheet by embossing. The type of the electrode body is not particularly limited and may be selected depending on the scope or purpose of the battery. As the electrode body, for example, a laminated body having electrodes (negative electrodes and positive electrodes) and separators disposed between the electrodes can be used. The number of the electrodes and separators contained in the electrode body is not particularly limited, and may be selected depending on the size or purpose of the battery. As the separator, for example, a microporous film made of resin such as polyethylene can be used.(Second Process)In the second process, an electrolyte solution is supplied to the inner space of the outer body on which the electrode body is arranged. The method of supplying the electrolyte solution into the inner space of the outer body is not particularly limited and may be performed according to a known operation. For example, the second operation may be performed such that the opening (an electrolyte solution injection hole) of the outer body in which the electrode body is disposed is located on the upper side in the direction of gravity. In order to increase the permeability of the electrode body to an electrolyte solution, the inside of the outer body may be depressurized before the supply of the electrolyte solution. In the second process, the electrolyte solution may be supplied to the inner space of the outer body in a single process or in multiple processes. From the viewpoint of improving the operation efficiency of the injection method, the electrolyte solution is preferably supplied to the inner space of the outer body in a single operation. Therefore, the outer body is preferably configured such that the inner space has a volume to which a sufficient amount of electrolyte solution can be supplied in a single operation. In the second process, the electrolyte solution may be supplied to the inner space of the outer body such that the electrode body completely dips into the electrolyte solution or that a part of the electrode body does not dips into the electrolyte solution. The method of closing the opening after the supply of the electrolyte solution is not particularly limited, and may be performed by a known method.(Third Operation)In the third process, the outer body to which the electrolytic solution has been supplied is pressurized at a part corresponding to a periphery of the electrode body.By performing the third process, permeation of the electrolyte solution into the electrode body is promoted by moving the electrolyte solution remaining on the periphery of the electrode body (i.e., the electrolyte solution that has not been absorbed by the electrode body) toward the electrode body. The method for performing the third process is not particularly limited. For example, the third process may be performed by roller pressing, hand pressing, or the like. The pressurization is preferably carried out such that the electrolyte solution is moved at the periphery of the electrode body in the direction of the electrode body. For example, a part of the outer body to which a pressure is applied may be moved in a direction from the edge toward the center (i.e., toward the electrode body). The portion of the outer body corresponding to the periphery of the electrode body may be bent to one of the main surfaces of the battery either together with the pressurization or after the pressurization.By bending the part of the outer body corresponding to the periphery of the electrode body, for example, a space in the housing in which the battery is accommodated can be saved. In addition, the electrolyte solution can be prevented from leaking around the electrode body. Before performing the third process, a pressure may be applied to the electrode body in the thickness direction.By applying a pressure to the electrode body in the thickness direction, the flow of the electrolyte solution into a space between the electrode body and the outer body can be prevented, thereby facilitating the permeation of the electrolyte solution into the electrode body.In order to effect efficient penetration of the electrolyte solution into the electrode body, the pressure applied to the electrode body is preferably uniform in the direction of the plane. Examples of the method of applying uniform pressure to the electrode body in the planar direction include applying pressure to the electrode body using an object having a flat surface facing the electrode, such as a flat plate. In a case where a pressure is applied to the electrode body in the thickness direction, it is possible to apply a constant pressure to the electrode body in the thickness direction. For example, by applying a constant pressure to the electrode body in the thickness direction, an excessive increase in the pressure applied to the electrode body in the thickness direction, which may be caused by the electrolyte solution moving from the periphery of the electrode body toward the electrode body, can be suppressed, thereby preventing the breakage of the outer body. The method of applying constant pressure to the electrode body in the thickness direction includes a method of applying pressure to the electrode with an object movable in the thickness direction of the electrode body, e.g., a floating plate. The type of the battery manufactured by the method of the present disclosure is not particularly limited. For example, the battery manufactured by the method of the present disclosure may be a battery that satisfies the conditions of the battery of the present disclosure as described below.<>A second embodiment of the present disclosure is a battery including a first outer body, a second outer body, and an electrode body disposed between the first outer body and the second outer body, wherein the first outer body and the second outer body each have a region X contacting the electrode body and a region Y not contacting the electrode body, the region Y being composed of a region Y 1 in which the first outer body and the second outer body are connected and a region Y 2 in which the first outer body and the second outer body are not connected.Hereinafter, the battery of the present disclosure will be explained with reference to the drawings.FIGS. 1 to 3 are plan or sectional views schematically showing a battery in which the first outer body and the second outer body form a single continuous member.FIGS. 4 to 6 are plan or sectional views schematically illustrating a battery in which the first outer body and the second outer body are two members separated from each other. The battery 10 illustrated in FIGS. 1, 2, and 3 includes the first outer body 20A, the second outer body 20B, and the electrode body 30.The first outer body 20A has a region X contacting the electrode body 30 and a region Y not contacting the electrode body 30. The region Y is composed of a region Y 1 in which the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B are joined, and a region Y 2 in which the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B are not joined.Since the state of the second outer body 20B in FIG. 1 is identical to that of the first outer body 20A, explanation will be omitted. As shown in FIG. 2, the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B form a continuous single member, and the region Y is provided on the one side of the electrode body 30. While the battery shown in FIG. 2 has a configuration in which a recessed portion for accommodating the electrode body 30 is formed on each of the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B (double cup impression), the battery may have a configuration in which a recessed portion for accommodating the electrode body 30 is formed on either of the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B (single cup impression).FIG. 3 is a sectional view of the battery 10 in which a part corresponding to the region Y of the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B is bent toward one of the main surfaces of the battery 10.The first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B used in the battery 10 have the region X contacting the electrode body 30 and the region Y not contacting the electrode body 30, respectively. In addition, the region Y is composed of a region Y 1 in which the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B are joined, and a region Y 2 in which the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B are not joined. Therefore, the volume of the internal space between the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B (i.e., the region X and the region Y 2) is larger than the volume of the electrode body 30.Therefore, it is possible to supply a sufficient amount of electrolyte solution absorbed by the electrode body to the inner space of the outer body in a single operation.Further, in the method of the present disclosure, a part of the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B corresponding to the periphery of the electrode body 30 (i.e., the region Y 2) is pressurized. Therefore, the permeation of the electrolyte solution into the electrode body 30 can be promoted by moving the electrolyte solution toward the electrode body 30 at the periphery of the electrode body 30.The battery 10 illustrated in FIGS. 4, 5, and 6 includes the first outer body 20A, the second outer body 20B, and the electrode body 30.The first outer body 20A has a region X contacting the electrode body 30 and a region Y not contacting the electrode body 30. The region Y is composed of a region Y 1 in which the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B are joined, and a region Y 2 in which the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B are not joined.Since the state of the second outer body 20B in FIG. 4 is identical to that of the first outer body 20A, explanation will be omitted. As illustrated in FIG. 5, the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B are two parts separated from each other, and the region Y is provided on both sides of the electrode body 30. While the battery 10 shown in FIG. 5 has a configuration in which a recessed portion for accommodating the electrode body 30 is formed on each of the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B (double cup impression), the battery 10 may have a configuration in which a recessed portion for accommodating the electrode body 30 is formed on either of the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B (single cup impression).FIG. 6 is a sectional view of the battery 10 in which parts of the first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B corresponding to the periphery of the electrode body 30 (i.e., the region Y) are bent toward one of the main surfaces of the battery 10.The first outer body 20A and the second outer body 20B used in the battery 10 have the region X contacting the electrode body 30 and the region Y not contacting the electrode body 30, respectively. Therefore, the permeation of the electrolyte solution into the electrode body 30 can be promoted by moving the electrolyte solution toward the electrode body 30 at the periphery of the electrode body 30.The details and preferred embodiments of the electrode body and the outer body in the battery of the present disclosure correspond to the details and preferred embodiments of the electrode body and the outer body described in connection with the method for manufacturing the battery of the present disclosure. From the viewpoint of improving the efficiency of the injection process, the area of the region Y 2 in the first outer body and the second outer body preferably corresponds to 5% or more, preferably 10% or more, more preferably 15% or more, an area of the region X in the first outer body and the second outer body. From the viewpoint of securing an appropriate amount of the joined part of the first outer body and the second outer body, the area of the region Y 2 in the first outer body and the second outer body preferably corresponds to 35% or less, more preferably 30% or less, further preferably 25% or less, an area of the region X in the first outer body and the second outer body. From the viewpoint of improving the efficiency of the injection process, the area of the region Y 2 in the first outer body and the second outer body preferably corresponds to 5% or more, more preferably 10% or more, further preferably 15% or more, an area of the region Y 1 in the first outer body and the second outer body. From the viewpoint of securing an appropriate amount of the joined part of the first outer body and the second outer body, the area of the region Y 2 in the first outer body and the second outer body preferably corresponds to 95% or less, more preferably 90% or less, further preferably 85% or less, an area of the region Y 1 in the first outer body and the second outer body. The battery of the present disclosure may be installed in an electric vehicle. In addition, since the motor 108 is supplied with power via the inverter 112, the rear wheels rotate to drive the vehicle 100.A charging port 116 is provided at a right side part of a rear part of the vehicle 100. By connecting a charging plug of an external charging device, which is not shown in the drawings, to the charging connection 116, electrical energy can be stored in the battery pack 10 via the charging device 114.An arrangement, structure, and the like of the respective components configuring the vehicle 100 are not limited to the configuration described above. For example, the present disclosure may be applied to vehicles having a motor installed such as hybrid vehicles (HV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV).
