Abstract
Communication circuit for sending and receiving data via an isolator (32) bridging an isolation barrier (28), comprising: an input circuit (44) configured to receive a plurality of input data channels; a framing circuit (76) coupled to the input circuit, which is configured to pack an input data packet from the plurality of input data channels, a transmitting circuit (56) which is arranged and configured on a first side of the isolator to drive a first data signal comprising the input data packet to the isolator; a receiving circuit (60) arranged on the first side of the insulator and configured to receive a second data signal from the insulator; and A control circuit configured to control the transmit and receive circuits to provide time-division multiplexing of the first and second data signals, wherein the control circuit transitions from a receive state in which the receive circuit is configured to receive the second data signal from the isolator to a transmit state in which the transmit circuit is configured to drive the first data signal to the isolator in response to the detection of at least one data condition or timing condition.
