Description

Technical field

[0001] The present description relates to a coil replacement component and a method for reducing the coil width of a tape coil. State of the art

[0002] A feeding device is conventionally known that receives a tape reel, around which a carrier tape is wound, in a reel receiving chamber provided in the feeding device (see, for example, patent literature 1). The feeding device has a main body with a conveying path that conveys and supports the carrier tape, and a reel receiving section provided in the main body that rotatably receives the tape reel. The reel receiving section has a reel-holding shaft section that rotatably supports the tape reel, and a cover that forms a reel receiving chamber between the cover and the main body of the feeding device. The cover can be opened and closed between a closed state, in which it covers at least part of a flange section of the tape reel supported by the reel-holding shaft section, and an open state, in which the tape reel can be attached to and removed from the reel-receiving space.

[0003] In general, the carrier tape is defined by the JIS standard, allowing a tape width, size, and material to be selected according to the size of a component or similar item being received. The tape reel has a holding shaft section around which the carrier tape is wound, and a pair of flanged sections that extend disc-like around the holding shaft section. A receiving width for receiving the carrier tape within the tape reel (specifically, a distance between the inner surfaces of the pair of flanged sections) is selected according to the tape width of the carrier tape that is the receiving target. [0004] Patent literature 1: Japanese patent no. 6437010 Summary of the invention; Technical task

[0005] Incidentally, corrugated cardboard is also available as a material for the tape reel. While this type of corrugated cardboard is lightweight, it is a material that deforms easily and has low rigidity compared to metal or similar materials. Therefore, to improve the strength of a corrugated cardboard tape reel, it is advisable to increase the thickness of the flange area. However, because the reel width (i.e., the distance between the outer surfaces of the pair of flange sections) is large with such a tape reel, it may not fit into the reel-holding chamber of the feeding device in some cases.

[0006] One objective of the present description is to provide a spool replacement component and a method for reducing the spool width of a tape spool, which makes it possible to stably accommodate a tape spool in a feeding device. Solution to the problem

[0007] The present description discloses a spool replacement component that is interchangeable with a flange section of a tape spool, wherein the tape spool has a tape-holding shaft section around which a carrier tape is wound, and a pair of flange sections integrated with the tape-holding shaft section, extending in a disk shape around the tape-holding shaft section and opposing each other at a distance in an axial direction to accommodate the carrier tape, wherein the spool replacement component comprises: a replacement flange section having a higher stiffness compared to the flange section; and a fixed section provided at an axial central section of the replacement flange section and attached to the tape-holding shaft section.

[0008] According to the present disclosure, the tape reel can be stably received in the feed device. [0009] An embodiment of a coil replacement component and a method for reducing the coil width of a tape reel according to the present disclosure are described below with reference to the Fig. 1 to 6 described. 1. Configuration of the feeder mounting base of the component assembly device for setting the feeder

[0010] The feeding device 20 according to this embodiment is a device that provides a component to be mounted on a printed circuit board at the component feed position P. The feeding device 20 is attached to and removable from the component assembly device 1. The component assembly device 1 is provided in a printed circuit board production line and receives or grips a component at the component feed position P of the feeding device 20 in order to mount the component onto a printed circuit board. The component assembly device 1 comprises a printed circuit board transport device that transports the printed circuit board, a component feeding device including the feeding device 20 that feeds a component, a component transfer device that transfers the component from the side of the feeding device 20 to the side of the printed circuit board, and the like.

[0011] The component assembly device 1 has a feeder mounting base 10. The feeder mounting base 10 is a base onto which a plurality of feeders 20 can be placed. As shown in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the feeder mounting base 10 has a slot 11. The slot 11 is a recess into which the feeder 20 can be inserted and removed. The slot 11 is shaped to support the feeder 20 vertically. A plurality of slots 11 are arranged side by side in the feeder mounting base 10. For example, the number of slots 11 in the feeder mounting base 10 is 20.

[0012] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the feeder mounting base 10 has clamping slots 12 into which the feeders 20 are inserted, and terminals 13 to which the power and signal lines of the feeders 20 are connected according to each slot 11. Furthermore, the feeder mounting base 10 has a belt discharge opening 14 for discharging a waste belt below the carrier belts 2 (see Figure 1). Fig. 3) include the components.

[0013] The feeder 20 can transport the carrier belt 2. The components that are the feed destinations of the feeder 20 are electronic components such as transistors, diodes, and resistors, which form an electronic circuit. Examples of the components range from tiny components like a 0201 (0.2 mm × 0.1 mm) to large components like a capacitor. 2. Configuration of the carrier tape and tape reel

[0014] The carrier belt 2 is shaped in an elongated form. Generally, the carrier belt 2 has a width of, for example, 4 mm, 8 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 24 mm, or similar, which has been predetermined as a standard. The carrier belt 2 comprises a base belt with component receiving sections arranged at predetermined intervals along the belt's length to hold components, and a cover belt that closes a component removal opening in the base belt.

[0015] The component is held in the component receiving section when the cover tape is bonded to the base tape, and is exposed by the component receiving section and can be removed to the outside when the cover tape is peeled away from the base tape. Note that the carrier tape 2 can be an embossed tape where the component receiving area of the base tape faces downwards, or a paper tape where a groove-shaped component receiving area is provided in a surface. The carrier tape 2 is wound around the tape reel 3.

[0016] As in the Fig. 3 and Fig. As shown in Figure 4, the tape reel 3 is designed in the form of a double disc. The tape reel 3 is a component consisting mainly of corrugated cardboard. The tape reel 3 has a tape-holding shaft section 3a, a flange section 3b, and a retaining hole 3c.

[0017] The tape-holding shaft section 3a is a core around which the carrier tape 2 is wound. The tape-holding shaft section 3a is cylindrical and has an axial length capable of holding the carrier tape 2. It should be noted that the tape-holding shaft section 3a can be made of corrugated cardboard, as long as the (later described) fixed section 42 of the spool replacement component 40 can be screwed into the tape-holding shaft section 3a; however, it can also be made of, for example, styrene foam, plastic, or resin.

[0018] The flange section 3b is a section that extends in a disc-like shape around the tape-holding shaft section 3a. A pair of flange sections 3b is provided. The pair of flange sections 3b is spaced apart from each other in the axial direction of the tape-holding shaft section 3a, i.e., in the coil width direction Y. The pair of flange sections 3b is arranged and shaped such that it clamps the carrier tape 2 wound around the tape-holding shaft section 3a from both sides.

[0019] The pair of flange sections 3b is separated in the coil width direction Y to form a gap corresponding to a width of the carrier tape 2, which is a winding target. That is, the pair of flange sections 3b has a receiving width (more precisely, a distance between the inner surfaces of the flange sections 3b) suitable for receiving the carrier tape 2. It should be noted that when the carrier tape 2 is wound around the tape reel 3, the width direction of the carrier tape 2 coincides with the coil width direction (hereinafter referred to as the coil width direction Y) of the tape reel 3.

[0020] Each flange section 3b is integrated with the tape-holding shaft section 3a. The integration of each flange section 3b and the tape-holding shaft section 3a is achieved, for example, by gluing. In the manufacture of the tape reel 3, each flange section 3b is made of corrugated board. Each flange section 3b is made, for example, of E-flute corrugated board with a thickness of approximately 1.5 mm, of A-flute corrugated board with a thickness of approximately 1.5 mm, or of AB-flute corrugated board with a thickness of approximately 8 mm.

[0021] The corrugated cardboard flange section 3b can be removed from the tape reel 3 by breaking or peeling it off the tape-holding shaft section 3a, into which the flange section 3b is integrated. It should be noted that either of the pair of flange sections 3b can be removable from the tape reel 3, or that only one of the flange sections 3b can be removed from the tape reel 3.

[0022] In the following, the flange section 3b (in particular at least one flange section 3b) that has been removed from the tape reel 3 is referred to as the removal flange section 3F, and a part (in particular at least one tape-holding shaft section 3a) that remains after the removal of the removal flange section 3F from the tape reel 3 is referred to as the remaining tape reel 3R. After the flange section 3b has been removed, the tape reel 3 is separated into the removal flange section 3F and the remaining tape reel 3R (see Figure 3). Fig. 4).

[0023] The retaining hole 3c is a through-hole required to hold the tape reel 3 in the feeder 20. The retaining hole 3c is provided in the tape-holding shaft section 3a and extends axially through the tape-holding shaft section 3a. The retaining hole 3c is located in the center of the flange section 3b. The reel-holding shaft section 22, which is provided in the feeder 20 and described later, is inserted into the retaining hole 3c. 3. Configuration and operation of the feeding device

[0024] The feed device 20, for example, is a cassette-like tape feed device that can accommodate the tape reel 3. As in Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the feed device 20 has a feed main body 21, a spool holding shaft section 22, a cover 23, a tape guide 24, a tape transport mechanism 25 and a cover tape ejection mechanism 26.

[0025] The feeder main body 21 is a main body element comprising a frame section to which the reel-holding shaft section 22, the cover 23, the tape guide 24, the tape transport mechanism 25, and the cover tape ejection mechanism 26 are attached, as well as a mounting section that is attached to the slot 11 of the component mounting device 1. The feeder main body 21 has a flat shape that can be attached to and removed from the slot 11 of the component mounting device 1.

[0026] The feed body 21 has a conveyor track that transports and supports the carrier belt 2. The conveyor track comes into contact with an underside of the carrier belt 2 and supports the carrier belt 2 from below. The conveyor track extends along the belt conveying direction X from the side of the spool-holding shaft section 22 to the side of the component feed position P and supports the carrier belt 2 at the upper ends of a horizontal, upward-facing wall and at the vertical walls on both sides in the spool width direction Y.

[0027] The spool-holding shaft section 22 and the cover 23 are elements that form a spool receiving section which rotatably, attachably, and detachably receives the tape spool 3. The spool-holding shaft section 22 is a shaft section that rotatably holds the tape spool 3 on the side of the feeder body 21. The spool-holding shaft section 22 is provided on an inner surface of a side wall of the feeder body 21 that faces the spool width direction Y (for example, a side wall that is positioned on the left side when the feeder 20 points in the belt conveying direction X from an upstream side to a downstream side). The spool-holding shaft section 22 projects in a cylindrical shape from the inside of a side wall of the feeder body 21 toward a spool receiving space described later. The spool holder shaft section 22 can be inserted into the holding hole 3c of the tape spool 3 and supports the tape spool 3.

[0028] The tape reel 3 can be rotated about the reel-holding shaft section 22, e.g. by actuating an actuating lever attached to the feed device 20 in a state supported by the reel-holding shaft section 22. It should be noted that the tape reel 3 can rotate both in the forward direction R+ (see Fig. 2), in which the carrier belt 2 is fed and conveyed in a forward direction of the belt conveying direction X, as well as in the reverse direction of rotation R-(see Fig. 2), in which the carrier belt 2 is returned and conveyed in a reverse direction of the belt conveying direction X, can be rotatable.

[0029] The cover 23 is a part that covers the flange section 3b of the tape reel 3, which is supported by the reel-holding shaft section 22. The cover 23 is in the form of a plate. The cover 23 is made of a metal such as SUS. The cover 23 is arranged on one side of the feed body 21 in the reel width direction Y (for example, on the right side if the feed device 20 points in the belt conveying direction X from the upstream side to the downstream side). The cover 23 is positioned so that it faces a side wall of the feed body 21 on which the reel-holding shaft section 22 is provided. The cover 23 forms a reel receiving space for receiving the tape reel 3 between the cover 23 and the side wall of the feed body 21.

[0030] The cover 23 covers part of the flange section 3b of the tape reel 3 (for example, a lower part of the flange section 3b, as in Fig. (2 shown) from the outside in the coil width direction Y. Therefore, in a state where the tape reel 3 is held by the reel-holding shaft section 22, part of the tape reel 3 is located inside the reel receiving space and is not visible from the outside of the feeder 20, while the other part of the tape reel 3 is exposed above the cover 23 and is located outside the reel receiving space. It should be noted that the reel-holding shaft section 22 can be provided on the rear side of the cover 23 instead of the feeder main body 21.

[0031] The cover 23 can be opened and closed relative to the feed body 21. Specifically, the cover 23 can be switched between a closed state, in which the reel receiving chamber is integrally sealed with the side wall of the feed body 21, and an open state, in which the reel receiving chamber opens away from the side wall of the feed body 21. The cover 23 is opened and closed by rotating it relative to the feed body 21, for example, by means of a hinge or by sliding it along a rail. In a state where the cover 23 is open, the tape reel 3 is attached to and detached from the reel-holding shaft section 22.

[0032] The belt guide 24 is a guiding element that guides the carrier belt 2 to be transported along the conveyor track. The belt guide 24 is arranged above the conveyor track of the carrier belt 2. The belt guide 24 is attachable and removable from the downstream side and the top surface in the belt conveying direction X of the feeder main body 21. The belt guide 24 has a U-shaped cross-section to allow it to contact a top and a side surface of the carrier belt 2. The carrier belt 2 is guided in contact with an upper wall and a side wall of the belt guide 24 when it is conveyed in the belt conveying direction X. The belt guide 24 has a folded section that folds back the cover strip, which has been pulled off the base belt of the carrier belt 2, to a side opposite the base belt.

[0033] The belt transport mechanism 25 is a mechanism that transports the carrier belt 2. The belt transport mechanism 25 has a disc-shaped pinion that transports the carrier belt 2 by rotation, and a drive motor, for example an electric motor, that generates the force to rotate the pinion. The pinion and the drive motor are arranged below the conveyor track. When the drive motor is driven in a state in which an engagement projection of the pinion is inserted into the feed opening of the carrier belt 2, the carrier belt 2 is transported according to the drive motor's direction.

[0034] It should be noted that it is advantageous if the pinion of the belt transport mechanism 25 is arranged near a peeling position of the cover belt or a component feed position P in the feed device 20 in order to prevent positional deviation in the belt direction Y in the carrier belt 2 or the like. Furthermore, it is advantageous if the drive motor rotates the pinion not only in the direction in which the carrier belt 2 is fed and conveyed in the belt conveying direction X, but also in a direction opposite to the feeding and conveying direction, for example, to adjust the position of the carrier belt 2 in the belt conveying direction X or to improve positioning accuracy.

[0035] The cover tape dispensing mechanism 26 is a mechanism that guides the cover tape pulled from the base tape of the carrier belt 2 to a cover tape collection chamber outside or inside the feed main body 21. The cover tape dispensing mechanism 26 lowers and dispenses the cover tape, which has been pulled from the base tape on the upstream side of the component feed position P of the feed device 20 in the belt conveying direction X and folded back to run along a top surface of the conveyor track and a side surface of the feed main body 21. It should be noted that the cover tape dispensing mechanism 26 may include a winding gear, a winding motor, or the like, which dispenses the cover tape by rotating it synchronously with the transport of the carrier belt 2 in the belt conveying direction X.

[0036] In the feed device 20, when the tape reel 3 is held by the reel-holding shaft section 22 in the open position of the cover 23 and the cover 23 is closed, it is rotatable in a state in which the tape reel 3 is covered by the cover 23 and housed in the receptacle of the reel receiving chamber. In this state, the carrier tape 2, drawn from the tape reel 3, is guided by the tape guide 24 while being supported by the conveyor track of the feed main body 21, and is fixed such that the feed opening of the carrier tape 2 engages with the pinion of the tape transport mechanism 25.Furthermore, the cover strip of the carrier belt 2 is completely peeled away from the base belt, starting with the folded section on the upstream side of the component feed position P in belt conveying direction X, and is positioned so that it engages with the winding gear of the cover strip dispensing mechanism 26 along a predetermined dispensing path.

[0037] When the pinion rotates towards the feed and conveying side of the carrier belt 2 in the position specified above, the belt roller 3 rotates in the forward direction R+, while being supported by the spool-holding shaft section 22 in accordance with the rotation of the pinion. During this forward rotation R+, the carrier belt 2 is fed from the upstream side to the downstream side in the belt conveying direction X, and the cover belt is pulled off the base belt and discharged along with the transport of the carrier belt 2. In this process, the component in the component receiving section of the base belt is exposed so that it can be removed. Once exposed, the component is held by a suction nozzle or similar device of the component assembly device 1 and transferred to the printed circuit board upon reaching the component feeding position P.

[0038] If the tape reel 3 rotates in the opposite direction to that in which the carrier tape 2 is rewound and transported, while supported by the reel-holding shaft section 22, by actuating the actuating lever or the like in the fixed position of the carrier tape 2, the carrier tape 2 is rewound onto the tape reel 3. In this case, the tape reel 3, onto which the carrier tape 2 is rewound, can be removed from the feed device 20 when the cover 23 of the feed device 20 is opened. 4. Configuration of the coil replacement component

[0039] In the tape reel 3 of the present embodiment, the flange section 3b can be replaced by the reel replacement component 40. For example, if a worker breaks or pulls off the flange section 3b from the tape reel 3, the flange section 3b can be removed from the tape reel 3. When the flange section 3b is removed from the tape reel 3, the tape reel 3 is separated into a removal flange section 3F and a remaining tape reel 3R. The reel replacement component 40 is then attached to the remaining tape reel 3R. Accordingly, the flange section 3b of the tape reel 3 is replaced by the reel replacement component 40 from the removal flange section 3F.

[0040] The coil replacement component 40 corresponds to flange section 3b and has a structure that is interchangeable with the distance flange section 3F. As shown in the Fig. 4 and Fig. As shown in Figure 5, the coil replacement component 40 has a replacement flange section 41 and a fixed section 42.

[0041] The replacement flange section 41 is a section that extends essentially in a disk shape. The replacement flange section 41 is designed in a plate shape, corresponding to flange section 3b. It should be noted that, as in the Fig. 4 and Fig. As shown in Figure 5, the replacement flange section 41 can be configured in a shape in which part of a circular outer edge section is cut out in an arc-shaped form. Furthermore, the replacement flange section 41 can be configured to have a plurality of spokes, each extending radially outward from a circular central section.

[0042] The replacement flange section 41 has a higher stiffness compared to the flange section 3b, which is a withdrawal target (especially the withdrawal flange section 3F).

[0043] The replacement flange section 41 is formed from a metal such as SUS. The thickness of the replacement flange section 41 is less than the thickness of the removal flange section 3F and is, for example, approximately 0.5 mm. Therefore, when the spool replacement component 40 is attached to the remaining tape spool 3R and the flange section 3b is replaced by the removal flange section 3F with the spool replacement component 40, the distance between the outer surfaces of the flange sections 3b on both sides of the tape spool 3 becomes smaller than before the replacement.

[0044] The fixed section 42 is a section that is fixed to the tape-holding shaft section 3a of the remaining tape reel 3R when the component 40 is attached to the remaining tape reel 3R. It should be noted that the fixed section 42 can have any structure as long as the reel replacement component 40 can be attached to the remaining tape reel 3R. The fixed section 42 is located on an axial central section of the replacement flange section 41. The fixed section 42 projects axially from the axial central section of the replacement flange section 41.

[0045] The fixed section 42 is formed from metal or plastic. The fixed section 42 has, for example, irregularities provided on an outer surface of a projecting section and is formed in an external thread or threaded form. The fixed section 42 is screwed and secured to a circumferential edge section of the retaining hole 3c in the tape-holding shaft section 3a of the remaining tape reel 3R.

[0046] The spool-holding shaft section 22 of the roll-receiving section of the feed device 20 is inserted into the fixed section 42. In particular, the fixed section 42 is designed in a tubular shape (especially a cylindrical shape). It should be noted that the fixed section 42 is preferably designed such that its inner diameter substantially matches the diameter of the retaining hole 3c. The tape reel 3 can be rotatably mounted by the spool-holding shaft section 22 of the feed device 20 in a state in which the spool replacement component 40 is attached to the remaining tape reel 3R, by attaching the fixed section 42 to the tape-holding shaft section 3a. 5. Method for reducing the coil width of a tape reel using a coil replacement component

[0047] Since the flange section 3b of the tape reel 3 is made of corrugated cardboard, its thickness is generally set to a relatively large value to ensure the rigidity of the tape reel 3. After the tape reel 3, which has a flange section 3b of such a relatively large thickness, has been manufactured, the following process is carried out if a worker wishes to reduce the overall width of the tape reel 3.

[0048] First, at least one flange section 3b (see Fig. 6(B)) from the tape reel 3, which has a tape holding shaft section 3a and a pair of flange sections 3b (see Fig. 6(A)). This operation is carried out by the worker by breaking or pulling off the flange section 3b with a tool such as a cutter or by hand. When this operation is carried out, the tape reel 3, as shown in Fig. 6(B) shown, separated into the extraction flange section 3F and the remaining tape reel 3R.

[0049] Subsequently, the fixed section 42 of the spool replacement component 40 is attached to the tape holding shaft section 3a of the remaining tape spool 3R, and the flange section 3b of the tape spool 3 is replaced by the spool replacement component 40 (see Fig. This process is carried out by the worker by screwing the spool replacement component 40 into the remaining tape spool 3R using a tool or by hand. When this process is carried out, as shown in Fig. Figure 6(C) shows a new tape reel 3 in which the reel replacement component 40 and the remaining tape reel 3R are integrated.

[0050] The coil replacement component 40 comprises a replacement flange section 41, which has a higher stiffness and a smaller thickness compared to the flange section 3b (especially the extraction flange section 3F). Therefore, if at least one of the two flange sections 3b is replaced by the coil replacement component 40 as described above, the distance between the outer surfaces of the flange sections 3b on both sides of the tape coil 3 is smaller than the distance before replacement by the coil replacement component 40. In particular, if both flange sections 3b on both sides are replaced by the coil replacement component 40, the distance between the outer surfaces becomes smaller.

[0051] This means that if the flange section 3b of the tape reel 3 is replaced by a reel replacement component 40 that has a thickness less than that of the removal flange section 3F, the reel width of the tape reel 3 can be reduced and the size of the tape reel 3 can be reduced. Therefore, the tape reel 3 can be easily accommodated in the reel receiving space of the feeding device 20.

[0052] The replacement flange section 41 of the coil replacement component 40 is made of metal and has a higher rigidity compared to the removal flange section 3F made of corrugated cardboard. Therefore, the strength of the flange section 3b is ensured even if the coil width of the tape coil 3 is reduced as described above. Consequently, the tape coil 3 can be stably held in the feeding device 20.

[0053] Since this prevents the tape reel 3 from coming into contact with the cover 23 or similar of the feed device 2, and prevents the tape reel 3 from being blocked during the rotation of the tape reel 3, which accompanies the transport of the carrier tape 2, it is possible to carry out the feeding and transport of the carrier tape 2 properly. 5. Modification example

[0054] In the embodiment above, the fixed section 42 of the spool replacement component 40 is designed in the form of an external thread or a tap and is screwed and fastened to the tape-holding shaft section 3a of the tape spool 3 (in particular, the remaining tape spool 3R). However, the present disclosure is not limited thereto, and the fixed section 42 can be pressed into and fastened to the tape-holding shaft section 3a by press fit or the like.

[0055] It should be noted that the present disclosure is not limited to the embodiment and modification example described above, and various modifications can be made without departing from the essential nature of the present disclosure. Furthermore, the present disclosure discloses not only the technical idea specified by the citation relationship described in each originally filed claim, but also the technical idea in which the circumstances described in each claim are suitably combined.
