Description

[0001] The present patent application relates to a curbstone for edging plastic surfaces, sports areas, paving surfaces and green areas, which has a rectangular shell shape in profile, wherein the rectangular shell shape has a longer extension in a first orientation as the longitudinal direction, and a shorter extension in an orientation perpendicular to the first orientation as the transverse direction, wherein the longer extension in the longitudinal direction is longer than the extension in the transverse direction.

[0002] To enclose green spaces, and especially synthetic surfaces on sports fields, it is common practice to use so-called curbstones. Curbstones form a solid border by being fixed to the ground with a concrete backing. The curbstone thus forms a fixed, unchanging boundary that maintains the desired boundaries of the synthetic surface, the sports area, the paving, and the green space.

[0003] In practice, it's common, especially with enclosed synthetic courts, for a gap to appear between the curbstone and the synthetic surface. This gap can occur due to excessive load in the curbstone area, excessive wear on the surface, or even UV radiation, which can cause the synthetic material to shrink slightly. In large sports fields, this can lead to unwanted gap formation.

[0004] The object of the invention is therefore to provide a curbstone for edging synthetic surfaces, sports areas, paving, and green spaces that is less prone to cracking. The curbstone should also be flexible in its use.

[0005] The object underlying the invention is achieved in that a first side edge of the profile has a first notch in the longitudinal direction, which divides this first side edge of the profile into two partial edges in the longitudinal direction, wherein these two partial edges are offset from one another, and a first side edge of the profile has a second notch in the transverse direction, which divides this first side edge of the profile into two partial edges in the transverse direction, wherein these two partial edges are also offset from one another. Further advantageous embodiments are specified in the subclaims to claim 1.

[0006] A special feature of the edging stone's profile is the first notch along the first side edge, running lengthwise. This first notch divides the first side edge of the edging stone's profile into two offset partial edges, which are slightly offset from each other. This creates an edging notch or groove into which a bordered synthetic surface can be incorporated. The edging stone designed in this way acts like a tension frame on the bordered synthetic turf.

[0007] Furthermore, the first side edge of the edging stone's profile is provided with a second notch in the transverse direction. This second notch also divides the first side edge into two offset partial edges, which have a similar offset arrangement to the partial edges on the first side edge in the longitudinal direction. This second notch has the same effect as the previously described notch. This creates an edging notch or groove into which an enclosed synthetic surface can be incorporated. The edging stone designed in this way acts like a tension frame on the enclosed synthetic turf.

[0008] Since the two notches are located on different side edges, the edging stone can be used upright or horizontally, depending on the design of the enclosed plastic floor.

[0009] Another feature of another design of the edging stone is that both the first and second notches have a conical profile. This allows the notch groove to be easily filled with plastic without the formation of air bubbles.

[0010] In yet another embodiment, the edging stone features two corners in its profile, each with a bevel along the first side edge in the transverse direction. These bevels prevent the edge from chipping, reduce the risk of injury, and ultimately add an additional aesthetic dimension to the edging stone, making it an attractive design element in various landscape and garden designs.

[0011] Another feature of the edge block is that one corner of the edge block's profile has a rounded edge on the second transverse side. This rounded area not only provides a pleasant feel but also prevents the risk of injury from contact or accidental impact.

[0012] In terms of material, the edging stone offers various manufacturing options. For example, it can be made from sintered recycled granules, with the recycled granules being made from purified synthetic sports flooring. This not only represents an environmentally friendly solution but also enables the sustainable use of plastic waste.

[0013] Alternatively, the edging stone can be made of sand or stone chippings bonded with mortar. These materials offer high stability and durability while also adding a natural aesthetic to the landscape.

[0014] The rectangular shell shape of the edge stone has a length of 15 to 25 cm, preferably 20 cm, and a length of 6 cm to 10 cm, preferably 8 cm, in the transverse direction.

[0015] The notch at the base of the edge stone has a width of 10 mm to 14 mm, preferably 12 mm. The offset between the two side edges divided by a notch is 10 mm to 20 mm, preferably 15 mm. The ratio between the two side edges divided by a notch is between 0.3 and 0.5.

[0016] These dimensions make the edging stone compatible with common sidewalk paving, which uses paving stones of a corresponding thickness.

[0017] The length of the edge stone perpendicular to the profile plane is between 20 cm and 200 cm, preferably between 80 cm and 120 cm, particularly preferably 100 cm.

[0018] The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the following figures. They show: Fig. 1 a profile view of the edge stone according to the invention, Fig. 2 a view of the long side of the edge stone according to the invention, Fig. 3 a view of the upper side of the edge stone according to the invention, Fig. 4 a perspective view of the edge stone according to the invention, Fig. 5 a sketch to illustrate a first type of use of the edging stone according to the invention, Fig. 6 a sketch to illustrate a second type of use of the edging stone according to the invention, Fig. 7 a sketch to illustrate a third type of use of the edge stone according to the invention.

[0019] In Fig. 1 shows a profile view of the edging stone 100 according to the invention. The special shape of the profile P makes the edging stone shown here suitable for various types of use. For this purpose, the profile P has a rectangular shell shape H. This shell shape H has a longer extension in a first orientation as the longitudinal direction L and a shorter extension in the orientation perpendicular to the longitudinal direction L as the transverse direction Q. A first side edge SL of the profile P in the longitudinal direction L, on the right side in this illustration, has a first notch K1. This notch K1 divides the aforementioned first side edge SL of the profile P in the longitudinal direction L into two partial edges T11 and T12. These two partial edges T11 and T12 are offset from one another.A first side edge SQ of the profile P in the transverse direction Q has a second notch K2, which divides this first side edge SQ of the profile P in the transverse direction Q into two partial edges T21 and T22. These two partial edges T21 and T22 are also offset from one another. The offset position of the partial edges T11 and T12 and also T21 and T22, which are each separated from one another by a notch K1 and K2, give the edging stone a variety of possible uses, which are shown in the figures. Fig. 5 to Fig. 7 will be explained in more detail.

[0020] In Fig. Figure 2 shows a view of the longitudinal side L of the edge block 100 according to the invention. The longitudinal side L has a continuous notch K1 extending over the entire length LS. This notch K1 divides the longitudinal side L into two partial areas corresponding to the partial edges T11 and T12.

[0021] In Fig. Figure 3 shows a sketch of the upper side of the edge block 100 according to the invention. The upper side has a continuous notch K2 over the entire length LS of the edge block 100 and divides the upper side into two partial surfaces corresponding to the partial edges T21 and T22.

[0022] Fig. 4 shows a perspective view of the curbstone 100 according to the invention. From the perspective view, the extension of the length LS and the profile shape of the curbstone 100 can be seen. The curbstone 100 can be used in this position shown here as a curbstone 100 for delimiting sports areas, paving, green areas and plastic surfaces of sports fields and also in two further positions or orientations.

[0023] Fig. Figure 5 shows a sketch illustrating a first use of the edging stone 100 according to the invention. It shows a section through the edge of a sports field with a plastic surface, such as a granulate surface. In the use shown here, the edging stone 100 with profile P is placed vertically at the boundary between the plastic surface 200 and the grass 600. The lower side of the edging stone 100 is placed in a foundation made of mortar 400, so that the edging stone 100 is firmly anchored in the ground. The notch K1 firmly anchors the edging stone in the mortar 400 foundation. The edging stone 100 separates the area of synthetic surface 200, which lies on a layer of sand 300, from topsoil 500. Natural grass 600 grows on the topsoil 500. The edging stone 100 serves several purposes, namely, it stabilizes the boundary between the synthetic surface 200 and the area of grass 600.Furthermore, the edging stone 100, with the help of the notch K2, serves as an anchor for the plastic covering 200, so that no gap forms between the plastic covering 200 and the edging stone 100, as could occur, for example, due to temperature- or age-related shrinkage of the plastic covering 200. Finally, the edging stone 100 forms a liquid barrier, so that no liquid for watering the grass 600 penetrates the layer of sand 300, which could lead to frost heaves in winter.

[0024] Fig. Figure 6 is a sketch illustrating a second type of use of the curbstone 100 according to the invention. In this type of use, the curbstone 100 is located at the boundary between the plastic covering 200 and the grass 600. In this type of use, the notches K1 and K2 exchange their function with respect to the function shown in Fig. 5. Notch K1 serves as an anchor for the plastic covering 200, so that no gap forms between the edge stone 100 and the plastic covering 200. Here, notch K2 ensures that the edge stone 100 is firmly anchored in the mortar 400 foundation.

[0025] Fig. Finally, Figure 7 shows a sketch illustrating a third type of use of the curbstone 100 according to the invention. In this type of use, the curbstone 100 is again placed upright at the boundary between a paving stone 700 and a grass area 600. Due to the bevels F, the shape of the curbstone 100 visible on the surface approximates the visible shape of the paving stones 700. Between the curbstone 100 and the adjacent paving stone 700 there is a joint made of sand 300, with the curbstone 100 being held in a foundation made of mortar 400.
