Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a washbasin with a base, a basin wall protruding from the base, an upper basin rim, and a ledge arranged on the outside of the basin wall below the basin rim, with an upper surface serving as a support surface for attaching a support plate. The invention also relates to such a washbasin with a support plate.
[0002] Sinks are open-topped containers with a drain to the sewer system and a faucet attached to the sink, from which water is drawn. Sinks are mounted, for example, on a vertically oriented wall, with fixtures located near the mounting surface. A shelf is often provided to the side of the faucet, for example, for placing soap or other items. The sink has a recess, at the lowest point of which is the drain or connection to the sewer system.
[0003] In addition to wall-mounted washbasins, there are also countertop washbasins. Instead of being wall-mounted, countertop washbasins are placed on a vanity top, so that the outside of the washbasin is also visible and the sink is almost entirely above the countertop. The faucet is located either in the washbasin or on a wall. The drain opening is located in the base of the basin at the lowest point. The water is drained into the sewer system via a suitable pipe or drain opening, which is routed through a relatively small opening within the washbasin.
[0004] Wash basins are also known that are recessed into a vanity top. For this purpose, the wash basin has an outward-projecting, circumferential ledge that is shaped and sized to cover the installation opening within the vanity top and that projects beyond the installation opening. The wash basin bowl is guided through the installation opening and, when installed, is located predominantly below the wash basin surface. The tap is usually mounted on the vanity top, and the drain opening in the basin bowl is also positioned at the lowest point of the wash basin so that the water can drain away completely. When installed, the entire top of the wash basin is visible, extending from the edge of the basin inwards and towards the drain opening.
[0005] The problem with washbasins that are recessed into a vanity top is that they are almost flush with the top of the vanity and the large gap between the top of the support plate and the base of the washbasin.
[0006] The object of the present invention is to provide a washbasin and a washbasin arrangement which provide improved safety while maintaining functionality and improved appearance.
[0007] This object is achieved by a washbasin having the features of the main claim and a vanity unit having the features of the subordinate claim. Advantageous embodiments and further developments of the invention are disclosed in the subclaims, the description, and the figures.
[0008] The washbasin with a base, a basin wall protruding from the base with an upper basin rim and a ledge arranged on the outside of the basin wall below the basin rim with an upper side as a mounting surface for a support plate. is characterized in that the distance between the upper side of the ledge and the basin rim is greater than the thickness of the support plate and in that a support is arranged within the washbasin, on which a baffle plate is mounted at a distance from the base, forming a circumferential drainage gap to the basin wall. The support arranged within the washbasin, which can be designed as a separate component or be permanently connected to the washbasin, provides a distance between the underside of the baffle plate and the base of the washbasin so that water can flow off the baffle plate over the entire surface through the circumferential drainage gap and is collected in the space between the baffle plate. This allows for even water flow across the entire surface of the baffle plate and complete drainage through the drainage gap. The baffle plate with its comparatively narrow drainage gap ensures that the volume of the sink is not noticeable, as the baffle plate is essentially at the same level as the support plate. The baffle plate preferably has a closed surface and covers most of the area surrounding the basin's rim. This prevents objects from falling from a relatively high height into the sink and potentially being destroyed.
[0009] To improve drainage, the baffle plate has a conical shape at the top. In particular, the baffle plate has a greater thickness at its center, which decreases evenly toward the outer edge of the baffle plate. Alternatively, the baffle plate can be shaped conically or pyramidally, with a constant or nearly constant material thickness, so that water can easily drain from the baffle plate toward the edge, toward the drainage gap.
[0010] In one design, the edge of the impact plate is positioned at the level of the support plate, creating a uniform visual appearance and the impression that only the surrounding edge protrudes from the washbasin, and that the basin itself does not have a completely visible base. The edge extending beyond the support plate protrudes above the top of the support plate by no more than 50% of the total height of the basin wall. Preferably, the distance between the top of the support plate and the basin edge is less than 50% of the total height of the basin wall.
[0011] In one embodiment, spaced-apart posts are arranged on the underside of the support, ensuring that the baffle plate is spaced from the base of the sink while maintaining the drainage function. Free spaces are formed between the posts through which water can flow to a drainage opening. The base can be inclined toward the drainage opening to ensure drainage. The posts can be arranged on the outer periphery of the support; alternatively or additionally, the posts can be arranged in a central area and inserted into the drainage opening in the base. This simultaneously centers the support within the sink.
[0012] The stands are designed to be adjustable in length to allow individual adaptation to the different material thicknesses in the carrier plate or the impact plate.
[0013] In a design of the support with a centering device via the supports, a separate centering device for the baffle plate can be arranged inside the sink, advantageously centrally, to ensure the alignment of the baffle plate within the sink. The support can also have a centering device for the baffle plate, so that simultaneous centering of the support within the sink and the centering of the baffle plate on the support can ensure the correct and uniform alignment of the baffle plate to the basin wall and a uniform drainage gap.
[0014] In one embodiment, the basin edge and the step are arranged in parallel planes, so that with a horizontal design of the support plate and a mounting of the wash basin below a mounting opening within the support plate, a parallel design of the top side of the impact plate and the top side of the support plate can be achieved.
[0015] In one embodiment, the ledge is mounted on the pool wall in a height-adjustable manner, for example, via a thread or a clamping device, allowing adaptation to different material thicknesses of the support panels. Furthermore, the overhang by which the pool edge extends beyond the top of the support panel can be adjusted.
[0016] The washbasin can be made of metal, plastic, ceramic, or glass. The ledge is advantageously arranged all the way around the basin wall to provide the largest possible surface area for attaching the washbasin to the underside of the support plate.
[0017] In one embodiment, the drainage gap has a width that is greater than 15%, in particular not greater than 10%, of the radius of the impact plate or the distance from the center of the impact plate to the edge of the impact plate. In particular, the drainage gap is provided with a uniform width, so that a uniform distance is maintained between the outer edge of the impact plate and the pool wall. The shape of the pool wall is preferably a round circumference; alternatively, polygonal circumferences are also encompassed by the invention.
[0018] The washbasin arrangement with a washbasin as described above and a support plate is characterized in one embodiment in particular by the fact that the upper side of the support plate is arranged at the same level as the upper side of the impact plate.
[0019] In one embodiment, the impact plate and the support plate are made of the same material; alternatively, the impact plate and the support plate have the same surface structure, so that an almost closed surface of the washbasin arrangement is achieved, interrupted only by the protruding basin edge.
[0020] An embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the figures. They show: Fig. 1 a plan view of a washbasin arrangement, as well as Above 2 a sectional view according to 2-2 of the Fig. 1.
[0021] Fig. 1 shows a plan view of a vanity unit arrangement with a washbasin 1 embedded within a support plate 50. The washbasin 1 has an annular basin wall 20 with an outer diameter D. The washbasin 1 is shown in a plan view; within the washbasin 1, a flat baffle plate 40 is arranged, which also has a circular circumference with a diameter that is smaller than the inner diameter of the basin wall 20. Between the outer circumference of the baffle plate 40 and the inner circumference of the basin wall 20, a drainage gap 24 is formed, through which the base 10 of the basin 1 can be seen. The basin 1 is inserted from below through a corresponding mounting opening within the support plate 50 and held to the support plate 50 by suitable fastening devices, for example screws, clamps or clips.
[0022] In the Fig. 2 is a sectional view according to 2-2 of the Fig.1. The support plate 50 has a mounting opening that essentially corresponds to the outer diameter D of the basin wall 20. The basin wall 20, which forms a basin rim 30 at its upper end, is pushed from below through the mounting opening of the support plate 50 and through to a shoulder 25. The shoulder 25 completely surrounds the basin wall 20 on the outside, or at least partially, and protrudes essentially perpendicularly from the outside of the basin wall 20. The upper side of the shoulder 25 forms a support surface for the underside of the support plate 50, wherein the upper side of the shoulder 25 lies in a plane that is essentially parallel to the plane in which the basin rim 30 is located. Alternatively, the planes can also be tilted relative to one another. The attachment of the basin 1 to the support plate 50 is advantageously reversible; alternatively, the wash basin 1 can also be glued to the support plate 50.The support surface formed by the shoulder 25 projects outward beyond the outer perimeter of the pool wall 20. Advantageously, the support plate 50 completely covers the shoulder 25 and lies flush against the outer side of the pool wall 20.
[0023] In the illustrated embodiment, the basin 1 has a cylindrical basin wall 20 and an inwardly projecting base 10 adjoining it. The base 10 is equipped with a central drainage opening 15 in the basin floor, which is inclined towards the drainage opening 15, and is equipped with a support 60 mounted on uprights 62 on the base 10 of the basin 1. The individual uprights 62 are spaced apart from one another and project beyond an underside of the support 60, allowing water to drain freely between the uprights 62 toward the drainage opening 15.
[0024] The surface of the support 60 can be continuous or discontinuous; in particular, the upper side of the support has a centering device for the impact plate 40 arranged on the support 60. The impact plate 40 is preferably detachably arranged on the support 60 to allow complete cleaning of the sink. Alternatively or additionally, the support 60 is repeatedly arranged or attached to the base 10 in a non-destructive manner so that the latter can also be removed.
[0025] In the illustrated embodiment, a centering device 62 in the form of several posts 62 is formed in a central section of the support 60. The posts 62 have insertion bevels or centering bevels, so that the posts 62 in the center of the support 60 position the support centrally within the recess of the washbasin 1. The centering devices project into the drain opening 15 and prevent the support 60 and the baffle plate 40 from slipping sideways. The baffle plate 40 projects with its circumference beyond the circumference of the support 60, so that the support 60 is completely covered by the baffle plate 40. In the illustrated embodiment, the upper side of the baffle plate 40 is at the same level as the upper side of the support plate 50. The height of the upper side of the support 60 can be adjusted using length-adjustable posts 62.This makes it possible to use thinner impact plates 40 than support plates 50 without encountering a different level in the assembled state. Due to the length adjustability of the posts 62 and the relocatability of the shoulder 25 on the outside of the pool wall 20, the desired level of the projection of the pool edge 30 above the support plate 50 or the impact plate 40 can be adjusted as required.
[0026] In the illustrated embodiment, the impact plate 40 and the support plate 50 are made of the same material. The drainage gap 24 is small compared to the distance from the center of the support plate 40 to the inner circumference of the basin and amounts to no more than 10% of this distance or radius.
[0027] The centering device with the central posts 62 is designed so that water flowing from the top side of the baffle plate 40 through the drainage gap 24 can flow over the floor 10 through the drain 15. As an alternative to the illustrated horizontal or flat design of the top side of the baffle plate 40, it can also be arranged at an incline or formed with different material thicknesses. In particular, a pyramid-shaped or conical design of the top side of the baffle plate 40 can be provided to facilitate the drainage of water.
