Description

[0001] The invention relates to a conductor connection terminal with an insulating housing which has at least one conductor insertion opening for receiving an electrical conductor in a conductor insertion direction, wherein at least one spring-loaded clamping connection for connecting an electrical conductor by means of spring force is arranged in the insulating housing, wherein the spring-loaded clamping connection has at least one busbar and a clamping spring which has a clamping leg with a clamping edge for clamping an electrical conductor at a clamping point on a contact section of the busbar, wherein the conductor connection terminal has a holding element which is designed to hold the clamping leg in the open position, wherein the spring-loaded clamping connection has a release element, by the actuation of which the holding element can be deflected far enough that the clamping leg held on the holding element is released from the holding element.

[0002] Such a conductor terminal is known from DE 10 2020 119 372 A1. It is a conductor terminal with automatic connection of the electrical conductor to be clamped when it is inserted into the conductor terminal. Inserting the electrical conductor automatically releases the clamping leg of the clamping spring, which is held in an open position, thereby clamping the electrical conductor.

[0003] Based on this, it is the object of the present invention to provide a further improved conductor connection terminal.

[0004] This object is achieved in that the holding element and the release element are designed as a structural unit in the form of a holding-release element, wherein the holding-release element has at least two side sections that surround an area of a conductor receiving space for receiving the electrical conductor on at least two sides. For example, an electrical conductor connected to the spring-loaded terminal connection can be arranged between these at least two side sections. This allows good integration of a combined holding-release element into a conductor connection terminal with little space requirement. In addition, the combined holding-release element can be easily manufactured as a one-piece structural unit, e.g., as a stamped and bent component made of sheet metal. The holding-release element can, for example, be box-shaped. The side parts can, with respect to a housing underside of the insulating housing, e.g.,be arranged parallel to the housing bottom or orthogonal to the housing bottom. In an advantageous embodiment, the side parts are arranged substantially parallel to one another.

[0005] Such a design allows the integration of automatic release technology into spring-loaded terminals and conductor terminals of various designs. In particular, proven conductor terminals of known designs can be upgraded with minimal effort to include automatic release functionality, i.e., with automatic connection of the electrical conductor to be clamped.

[0006] The invention is suitable, for example, for compact junction box terminals, e.g. those with a leaf spring connection, in which the clamping leg is connected to a support section of the clamping spring without a spring bend which is known in many conductor connection terminals and which extends over an angular range of more than 180°.

[0007] The retaining element allows the clamping leg to be held in the open position even when no manual actuation force is applied to the clamping leg. The clamping leg can then be held in this open position by the retaining element, particularly without further manual actuation of the actuation mechanism, so that the electrical conductor can be inserted at any time without any particular effort. For example, the clamping leg can be locked to the retaining element in the open position.

[0008] The holding element can be arranged so as to be movable, e.g. displaceable, pivotable or deflectable in some other way, so that it can be slightly deflected by the inserted conductor in order to bring about the desired release effect of the clamping leg from the holding element. The holding element can, for example, be mounted so as to be displaceable, e.g. displaceable in a linear direction or an arcuate direction. The holding element can be mounted so as to be pivotable. In this case, the holding element can be pivoted about a fixed or variable pivot axis. In the case of a variable pivot axis, the holding element can, for example, be mounted so as to be floating and pivotable. The holding element can also be mounted so as to be movable in some other way so that it can be deflected sufficiently far to release the locking of the clamping leg on the holding element.

[0009] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the holding / release element is tiltably attached to the spring-loaded terminal connection. The holding / release element can be designed, for example, as a rocker arm. The tilting of the holding / release element upon corresponding actuation of the release section can, for example, occur essentially in the plane of the contact section of the busbar.

[0010] The clamping leg, together with the contact section of the busbar, can form a clamping point for clamping an electrical conductor between the clamping leg and the contact section. In the open position, at least the clamping edge of the clamping leg is pivoted away from the contact section of the busbar. The clamping leg can be pivoted, for example, between an open position, in which the electrical conductor is freely movable between the clamping leg and the contact section, and a clamping position, in which the clamping leg clamps the electrical conductor to the contact section.

[0011] The retaining element can, for example, act directly on the clamping leg to hold it in the open position. For example, a first locking element can be arranged on the clamping leg and a second locking element on the retaining element, with the first and second locking elements being able to be locked together in the open position. The first locking element can be designed as a locking projection or locking hook. The second locking element can be designed as a locking edge or locking opening.

[0012] The holding element can be designed as a separate component of the clamping spring, which is fastened, for example, to the insulating material housing of the conductor connection terminal, to the busbar or to another component.

[0013] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the retaining element is arranged behind the clamping point or behind the majority of the busbar in the conductor insertion direction of the electrical conductor into the spring-loaded terminal connection. In this way, the retaining element does not impede the insertion of the electrical conductor. For example, in the open position, i.e., when the clamping leg is locked to the retaining element, the retaining element may not protrude into a conductor receiving space, or may protrude only slightly relative to the clamping leg, when viewed in the conductor insertion direction.

[0014] By actuating the release element, the holding element can be deflected far enough that the clamping leg held on the holding element releases from the holding element: The release element can have a release section. The release element allows the clamping leg, which is held on the holding element in the open position, to be released from the holding element when an electrical conductor to be clamped exerts an actuating force on the release section. This allows the clamping leg to be automatically released from the holding element when the electrical conductor is inserted. The release section can be subjected to pressure by a separate tool, a component of the conductor connection terminal, such as an actuating element, or directly via the inserted electrical conductor itself, thereby causing the clamping leg to be released from the holding element.By means of the release element, the clamping leg, which is held in the open position on the retaining element, can be released from the retaining element by applying pressure to the release section in the conductor insertion direction (L) of the electrical conductor to be connected. Depending on the design of the spring-loaded terminal connection, the release element can be formed as part of the clamping spring, e.g., as a release element formed integrally with the clamping spring, or as a separate component.

[0015] According to the invention, the release element is part of the component or assembly of the spring-loaded terminal connection that has the retaining element. This allows the design and assembly effort for the spring-loaded terminal connection to be kept to a minimum. In particular, only one component or assembly needs to be assembled to assemble the release element and the retaining element, rather than two different components or assemblies. For example, the release element can be formed integrally with the retaining element. The component or assembly can be made of plastic or metal, for example, or a combination of such materials.

[0016] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the holding / release element is fixed between the busbar and the clamping spring. This allows reliable fixation of the holding / release element. For example, a part of the holding / release element assigned to the busbar can be fixed to the busbar, and an area arranged in the region of the clamping leg displaced into the open position can be fixed to the clamping spring, e.g., to a support section of the clamping spring. In conjunction with the tiltable fastening of the holding / release element to the spring-loaded terminal connection, this ensures that the holding / release element returns to its original position after actuation, in which the clamping leg can be held on the holding element. The spring elasticity of the holding / release element can be used for the reset.

[0017] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the holding / release element is supported on the busbar, particularly at the contact section of the busbar, against the spring force acting on the holding / release element from the clamping leg in the open position. This allows for secure support of the holding / release element. Furthermore, the insulating housing is protected because it does not have to absorb the supporting forces.

[0018] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the release section of the holding-release element is formed in at least two parts by a bent end tab of a side part of the holding-release element. This allows for an advantageous design and manufacture of the holding-release element as well as an advantageous provision of a substantially box-shaped holding-release element. The bent end tabs can be connected to one another or unconnected, e.g., by providing a gap between the tabs.

[0019] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the release section extends as a transverse connection from one side section to the other side section of the holding-release element. In this case, the release section can be formed as a single piece.

[0020] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the spring-loaded terminal connection has a pivoting operating lever that can be manually operated by the user to actuate the clamping spring into the open position. This allows for simple and convenient manual operation of the spring-loaded terminal connection. Furthermore, such an operating lever can be easily integrated into the design of a conductor terminal.

[0021] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the actuating lever is U-shaped as viewed in the conductor insertion direction, with an electrical conductor being able to be inserted through an interior space of the U-shape. This allows for a particularly compact design of the spring-loaded terminal connection such that large forces can be transmitted with the actuating lever, yet requires only a negligible amount of additional space. This is achieved in particular by using the interior space of the U-shape to accommodate the electrical conductor to be connected.

[0022] For example, the operating lever can have a manual operating area, e.g. in the form of a lever handle, from which the operating lever extends around the arrangement of clamping spring and busbar via two side cheeks that protrude, e.g. parallel, from the manual operating area. If the spring-loaded terminal connection is arranged in an insulating housing of a conductor connection terminal, the side cheeks can be located inside the insulating housing. A spring driver can be arranged on each of the side cheeks, which can be formed integrally on the respective side cheek, for example. By means of such a spring driver, the clamping spring can be actuated either directly on the clamping leg or on respective operating sections assigned to the spring drivers, which protrude laterally beyond the clamping leg, and can accordingly be pivoted into the open position.

[0023] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the actuating lever has at least one spring driver arranged laterally on the clamping spring and configured to deflect the clamping leg. At least one such spring driver allows the clamping leg to be reliably deflected into the open position upon appropriate pivoting of the actuating lever. The actuating lever or the spring driver can be mounted, for example, on the contact section of the busbar.

[0024] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the clamping spring has a support section designed to support the clamping spring on the busbar. This support section allows for secure support of the clamping spring and sufficient support against the spring force exerted by the clamping leg.

[0025] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the support section has a base section and a fastening section, wherein the clamping leg branches off from the base section and the support section engages behind the busbar with its fastening section, so that the busbar rests on the fastening section and is at least partially arranged between the base section and the fastening section. In this case, the clamping leg can branch off from the base section, in particular without a 180° spring bend. For example, the clamping leg can branch off from the base section at an acute angle, which can be less than 60°, for example, in the open position. The base section can be connected to the fastening section via a connecting section. For example, the base portion may be substantially parallel to the attachment portion or at a slight angle thereto, in particular an angle of less than 20°.

[0026] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, a conductor guide channel for guiding the electrical conductor to be clamped to the contact section can be formed in the insulating material housing, wherein the release section of the release element is arranged in the conductor guide channel or at least projects into the conductor guide channel or projects into the extension of the conductor insertion channel.

[0027] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the release section of the release element can be arranged behind the contact section or at least behind the clamping point in the conductor insertion direction.

[0028] For the purposes of the present invention, the indefinite term "a" is not to be understood as a numerical term. Therefore, if, for example, a component is mentioned, this is to be interpreted as "at least one component." Angles expressed in degrees refer to a circle of 360 degrees (360°).

[0029] The invention is explained in more detail below using exemplary embodiments and drawings.

[0030] It shows Fig. 1 a conductor connection terminal in a lateral sectional view in the clamping position, Fig. 2 the conductor connection terminal according to Fig. 1 in the open position, Fig. 3 an operating lever in perspective view, Fig. 4 spring-loaded terminal connections with operating levers in perspective view, Fig. 5 the spring clamp connections according to Fig. 4 without operating lever, Fig. 6 another embodiment of spring clamp connections, Fig. 7 another embodiment of spring clamp connections, Fig. 8 a clamping spring in perspective view, Fig. 9 a conductor rail in perspective view, Fig. 10 a combined holding-release element in perspective view, Fig. 11 another embodiment of a combined holding-release element in perspective view.

[0031] The Fig. Figure 1 shows a conductor connection terminal 1 having an insulating housing 2. The insulating housing 2 has a conductor insertion opening 20 on a conductor insertion side, through which an electrical conductor can be inserted into the insulating housing 1 in a conductor insertion direction L and clamped to a spring-loaded terminal. The electrical conductor is then located in a conductor receiving space 22 in the insulating housing 2.

[0032] Visible is a spring-loaded terminal connection arranged in the insulating housing 2, which has a clamping spring 4 and a busbar 3. The clamping spring 4 has a support section 41, via which the clamping spring 4 is supported on the busbar 3. The clamping spring 4 also has a clamping leg 43 branching off from the support section 41 at an acute angle. The clamping leg 43 extends to a free end, at which the clamping leg 43 has a clamping edge 46 for clamping the electrical conductor. In the Fig. In the clamping position shown in Figure 1, the clamping leg 43 rests with the clamping edge 46 against a contact section 31 of the busbar 3 when no electrical conductor is inserted. An electrical conductor can be clamped between the clamping leg 43 or the clamping edge 46 and the contact section 31 at a clamping point 30.

[0033] The support section 41 extends from a base section 40, from which the clamping leg 43 branches off, to a connecting section 42 arranged at an angle thereto, which, for example, Fig. 4 can be seen. The connecting section 42 merges into a fastening section 44 arranged at an angle to the connecting section 42. The fastening section 44 engages behind the busbar 3, ie it rests, so to speak, on the rear side of the busbar 3 on a side facing away from the clamping point 30.

[0034] To actuate the clamping spring 4, ie to deflect the clamping leg 43 from the Fig. 1 shown clamping position into the Fig. 2, the actuating lever 6 is provided. The actuating lever 6 has a manual actuating area 60 which protrudes from the insulating housing 2. The user can grasp and pivot the actuating lever 6 at the manual actuating area 60. The actuating lever 6 extends into the insulating housing 2 via side cheeks 61. A spring driver 62 is arranged on each of the side cheeks 61. The side cheeks 61 can be supported, for example, on the busbar 3. When the actuating lever 6 is pivoted, the clamping leg 43 is pivoted in a direction away from the contact section 31 via the spring driver 62 and moved into the open position. If the actuating lever 6 is pivoted relative to the position shown in Fig. 1, the clamping leg 43 is deflected upward by the spring catches 62, so that the clamping edge 46 is lifted from the contact section 31 and moved away. In this way, the clamping point can be opened so that a clamped electrical conductor can be removed or an electrical conductor to be clamped can be easily inserted. The electrical conductor can be guided between the side cheeks 61.

[0035] The conductor terminal 1 further comprises a holding element 5, by means of which the clamping leg 43 can be held in the open position. The holding element 5 has a locking element 50, which can lock with a locking element formed as a counterpart on the clamping leg 43 in the open position, as shown in FIG. Fig. 2. The clamping leg 43 cannot then easily move back into the clamping position. The locking element formed on the clamping leg 43 can, for example, be formed by the clamping edge 46, as illustrated in the figures. However, at least one separate locking element can also be formed on the clamping leg 43, for example in the form of a protruding locking tab, which can then be locked to the locking element 50.

[0036] The conductor connection terminal 1 further has a release element 8, which serves to release the locking of the clamping leg 43 on the holding element 5. In this case, the release element 8 is formed integrally with the holding element 5 to form a combined holding-release element 5, 8, which will be explained in more detail below. The release element 8 has a release section 80 that can be actuated by the inserted electrical conductor. If an electrical conductor exerts a compressive force on the release section 80, the holding element 5 with the locking element 50 is displaced slightly toward a rear housing wall 21 of the insulating housing 2 until the clamping leg 43 can be released from the locking element 50. The clamping leg 43 then springs out until it rests against the inserted electrical conductor and presses it against the contact section 31.

[0037] In the illustrated embodiment, the holding element 5 and the release element 8 are designed as a combined holding-release element 5, 8, which combines the function of the holding element 5 and the release element 8 of a spring-loaded terminal connection with an automatic release function in one structural unit. The holding element 5 extends from the locking element 50 over at least one side section 56 to the release element 8, which has a release section 80 at the end facing the rear housing wall 21 of the insulating housing 2. The precise structure of the holding-release element 5, 8 of this embodiment will be explained below with reference to the Fig. 10 explained.

[0038] The Fig. 4 shows two spring clamp connections of a conductor terminal 1 arranged side by side, which correspond, for example, to the conductor terminal 1 according to the Fig. 1 to 2. The conductor connection terminal 1 is then designed as a multi-pole conductor connection terminal. The spring-loaded terminals each have a busbar 3 or, in the case of a continuous busbar, at least a partial section of this busbar, a clamping spring 4 with a support section 41 and a clamping leg 43 branching off from the support section 41, as already described above. The clamping springs 4 of the two spring-loaded terminals can be designed as a continuous spring component, as will be explained below with reference to the Fig. 8 is explained.

[0039] It can be seen that the respective holding-release element 5, 8 has two spaced-apart side sections 56, on each of which a locking element 50 is located. The side sections 56 extend toward the release section 80, which, as can be seen, is formed in two parts, with an end section of each side section 56 being bent substantially at a right angle, wherein the bent sections face one another and together form the release section 80. The planes of the side sections 56 are aligned substantially orthogonally to the direction of extension of the plane of the busbar 3.

[0040] It can also be seen that the clamping leg 43 can have an actuating section 45 projecting from the clamping leg 43 on one side edge or on both opposite side edges. The clamping leg 43 can be actuated by the respective spring driver 62 at this actuating section 45.

[0041] The Fig. 5 shows the spring clamp connections according to Fig. 4 in a comparable view, but without the actuating lever 6. This makes the actuating section 45 protruding from the clamping leg 43 even more clearly visible, at least in the case of the front clamping spring. It can also be seen that, for example, between the side sections 56 of the holding-release element 5, 8 and the adjacent connecting section 42, there is a free space 48 in which at least part of a respective side cheek 61 of the actuating lever 6 can be arranged.

[0042] The Fig. 6 shows an embodiment of spring clamp connections, which essentially corresponds to the embodiment of the Fig. 5. In contrast to the Fig. 5, the spring clamp connections are in accordance with Fig. 6 not for operation with the operating lever 6 according to Fig. 3. Then, for example, the actuating sections 45 on the clamping legs 43 can be omitted. In addition, the spring-loaded terminals can be made narrower because the Fig. 5 recognizable open spaces 48 can be omitted.

[0043] In the embodiments described so far, combined holding-release elements 5, 8 with side sections 56 were described, which extend essentially orthogonally to the contact section 31 of the busbar 3. The Fig. Figure 7 shows a further advantageous embodiment of spring-loaded terminal connections, in which the holding-release elements 5, 8 are also box-shaped, but are designed with side sections 56 that run essentially parallel to the contact section 31. As a result, the fastening of the holding-release element 5, 8 to the spring-loaded terminal connection can also be designed differently, as will be explained below with reference to the Fig. 8 and Fig. 11 is explained.

[0044] It can also be seen that the release section 80 in this embodiment is designed as a continuous material section, ie it is not designed in two parts as in the previously described embodiments. It would also be possible in the embodiment of the Fig. 7 to form the release section in two parts. It would also be possible to design the Fig. 1 to 6, the separated areas of the release section 80 are designed as a continuous release section.

[0045] The Fig. Figure 8 shows, by way of example, a clamping spring 4 in which two clamping legs 43 are realized in a one-piece structural unit. The clamping spring 4 is thus suitable for two spring-loaded terminal connections arranged side by side. The clamping spring 4 can be used with all of the previously described conductor connection terminals 1 and spring-loaded terminal connections. The various sections of the support section 41 can be seen, i.e., the base section 40, the connecting section 42, and the fastening section 44. Also visible on the connecting section 42 are molded-on receptacles 47, which serve to receive and support the retaining element 5, as will be explained below.

[0046] The Fig. 9 shows a busbar 3 which, on its contact section 31, offers two adjacently arranged receiving locations for electrical conductors and is accordingly suitable for the Fig. The clamping spring 4 shown in Figure 8 is suitable for implementing two adjacent spring-loaded terminal connections. Brackets 34 for holding the combined holding-release element 5, 8 can be molded onto the busbar 3.

[0047] The Fig. 10 shows a holding-release element 5, 8, as in the embodiments of the Fig. 1 to 6. Visible are the side sections 56 and the tabs bent at the ends of the side sections 56, which form the two parts of the release section 80. Furthermore, a flared and angled locking tab 55 is formed on each of the side sections 56, at the free end of which the respective locking element 50 is located. The side sections 56 are connected to one another via a lower longitudinal section 53. Located on the lower longitudinal section 53 is a fastening element 54 for fastening the holding-release element 5, 8 to a bracket 34 of the busbar 3.

[0048] The Fig. 11 shows a combined holding-release element 5, 8 that can be used with the previously described conductor connection terminals 1. The holding-release element 5, 8 has a holding element 5, which is formed with the aforementioned locking element 50 at the free end. The region of the holding element 5 formed with the locking element 50 has positive connection elements 51 that can be inserted into the receiving elements 47 of the support section 41. As a result, the locking element 50 can be supported on the support section 41, in particular on the connection section 42, against the spring force exerted by the clamping leg 43 in the open position. The holding element 5 merges via upper longitudinal sections 52 into the release element 8, on which the release section 80 is arranged. The release section 80 is connected on its opposite side via lower longitudinal sections 53 to a fastening element 54 of the holding-release element 5, 8, which can be hooked into one of the brackets 34 on the busbar 3. This fixes the entire holding-release element 5, 8 to the busbar 3.

[0049] In this embodiment of the holding-release element 5, 8, the upper longitudinal sections 52 form a side section 56 in the sense of the present invention, and the lower longitudinal sections 53 form a further side section 56.

[0050] It can be seen that in both embodiments the at least two side sections 56 surround an area of the conductor receiving space 22 on at least two sides.

[0051] When force is applied to the release section 80 by the electrical conductor 9, the lower region of the holding-release element 5, 8, which is attached to the bracket 34 via the fastening element 54, is fixed and cannot be deflected. Accordingly, only the upper region of the holding-release element 5, 8 with the locking element 50 is deflected by the inserted electrical conductor 9 and the release section 80.

[0052] One can see in the Fig.11 also shows that the combined holding-release element 5, 8 can not be designed as a continuous sheet metal part in the region of the upper longitudinal sections 52, but can have a first recess 57 between the upper longitudinal sections 52. Similarly, the combined holding-release element 5, 8 can not be designed as a continuous sheet metal part in the region of the lower longitudinal sections 53, but can have a second recess 58 between the lower longitudinal sections 53. The elasticity of the holding-release element 5, 8 can be increased by the first and / or second recess 57, 58, whereby the required release forces that must be applied to the release section 80 by the inserted electrical conductor 9 can be reduced.A further advantage of the first and / or second recess 57, 58 is that a viewing window is provided through which it can be visually checked whether the electrical conductor 9 has been inserted sufficiently far into the insulating housing 2, at least if a transparent housing material is used in this area.
