Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a housing system for raising and keeping poultry, comprising a frame and several platforms arranged at different heights within the frame for the animals to occupy, wherein a manure collection device with a substantially horizontal manure collection element is arranged below at least one, and in particular several, of the platforms, and wherein each manure collection device is associated with at least one manure removal unit movable above the manure collection element, with at least one manure scraper for removing the manure at the top of the manure collection element. The invention also relates to a scraper element for a manure removal unit in a housing system for poultry.
[0002] Multi-tiered housing systems are known for keeping poultry, especially laying hens. These systems are typically housed in a barn or a hall-like building. They can be either open or closed. Closed systems offer an advantage over open systems because excrement, particularly droppings, is not distributed uncontrollably throughout the barn or building.
[0003] For animal welfare reasons, it has proven advantageous that poultry in closed systems come into significantly less contact with excrement, thus reducing the incidence of disease in closed systems. To collect and remove excrement, particularly feces, generated during poultry husbandry, a manure collection system with a substantially horizontal collection element is provided below at least one, and preferably several or each, of the housing levels in a housing system.
[0004] The excrement of the animals kept on the living levels is collected on a manure collection element that preferably extends at least over the entire length of the living area. The manure on the upper surface of the manure collection element is removed at predefined intervals by means of at least one manure removal unit movable above the element, which includes a manure scraper. The manure scraper has a scraping element that is in contact with the upper surface of the manure collection element, and this scraper typically extends its entire length into contact with the upper surface of the manure collection element. However, it has been shown that the known manure removal units achieve only a moderate cleaning effect on the manure collection element.
[0005] The invention is therefore based on the objective of further developing a housing system of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that an improved cleaning effect can be achieved on it, especially on the feces collection element of the feces collection device.
[0006] The invention solves the underlying problem in a housing system for raising and keeping poultry animals with the features according to claim 1. In particular, the manure scraper of the manure removal unit has a scraping element which has a scraping edge with a toothed contour that is in contact with the upper side of the manure collection element.
[0007] Contrary to conventional understanding, the invention proposes providing the scraper edge of the scraper element with a toothed contour or serration instead of using a scraper element with a continuous scraper edge. The scraper element according to the invention ensures that, relative to its total length on the manure scraper, only a predetermined portion of its total length is in direct contact with the upper surface of the manure collection element. This results in a significantly smaller contact area on the scraper element according to the invention, which, in conjunction with the unchanged contact force, cleans the upper surface of the manure collection element more effectively.During the keeping of poultry, fewer cleaning processes are therefore necessary on the manure collection device in order to remove the accumulated excrement from the manure collection element below a living level to the desired extent.
[0008] According to a preferred embodiment, the scraper element comprises a blade body with at least one mounting section and a slide section facing the manure collection element, which has the scraper edge. The mounting section on the scraper element, which preferably extends over its entire length, allows the scraper element to be securely attached to, for example, a rod-shaped retaining element of the manure scraper, preferably via several mounting points. The slide section on the scraper element, which has the scraper edge, forms a separate part of the scraper element, but is integrally connected to the mounting section. The slide section, on which the scraper edge with its toothed contour is formed, is preferably arranged along a longitudinal side of the mounting section facing the manure collection element.
[0009] According to a preferred embodiment of the holding system, the mounting section is essentially vertically oriented during operation of the scraper element, and the sliding section with its toothed scraper edge is inclined at an angle α in the range of 91° to 179° to the mounting section. This vertical orientation of the mounting section during operation provides an advantageous sliding effect on the excrement released from the manure collection element by means of the scraper element. The mounting section is preferably connected to a rod-shaped retaining element that accommodates the scraper element. For improved cleaning of the manure collection element, the sliding section, by means of which the excrement, in particular the feces, is to be released from the manure collection element, is oriented obliquely to the mounting section, which is vertically oriented during operation. In particular, the sliding section with its toothed scraper edge extends obliquely forward in the direction of movement of the manure scraper, which further improves the loosening or lifting of excrement from the upper side of the manure collection element. In a preferred embodiment, the sliding section runs at an angle α of approximately 135° to the mounting section.
[0010] A further development of the holding system provides that the toothed contour is formed alternately with projecting teeth, which are in contact with the manure collection element, and recessed spaces between the teeth. Preferably, such a scraper element equipped with a toothed contour has a plurality of teeth extending obliquely forward along the scraper edge in the direction of movement. In a preferred embodiment, the scraper element has more than 20, preferably more than 30, such teeth on its scraper edge. Preferably, the teeth projecting on the slide section are arranged evenly distributed along it. A sufficiently deep recess is formed on the scraper edge by means of a recessed space between two adjacent teeth, ensuring only partial contact between the scraper edge and the manure collection element. In one possible embodiment, the scraper element of the holding system according to the invention has a total length of approximately 1.3 m and 32 teeth in contact with the feces collection element.
[0011] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the toothed contour on the scraper edge is asymmetrically designed with respect to the longitudinal axis of the scraper element. This asymmetrical design, in conjunction with a pivotable mounting of the manure scraper described below, allows for the cleaning of various areas on the upper surface of the manure collection element. Despite the reduced contact area at the scraper edge due to the toothing, effective cleaning of almost the entire upper surface of the manure collection element is achieved. In this embodiment, the longitudinal axis of the scraper element falls precisely within a transition zone from a tooth to a tooth gap and preferably lies on a tooth flank that runs substantially perpendicular to the scraper edge.
[0012] Preferably, the interspaces of the teeth on the serrated scraper edge have dimensions in the longitudinal direction of the scraper element that are larger than the dimensions of the teeth projecting from the slider section towards the manure collection element. Preferably, the interspaces have a width that is at least 1.1 times, and more preferably at least 1.2 times, greater than the width of the teeth. In the embodiment shown here, the contact area formed by the teeth projecting obliquely forward in the direction of movement of the scraper element has a ratio of < 0.5, and preferably approximately 0.45, to the total length of the scraper element. This ensures that when the scraper element is moved during a cleaning process consisting of two individual movements of the scraper element across the top of the manure collection element, the entire surface of the manure collection element is not directly cleaned. However, tests have shown that the sweeping effect created when driving over the feces collection element causes adjacent areas of excrement that come into direct contact with the teeth to be dragged along, so that the cleaning function of the teeth is wider than the width of the teeth.
[0013] Preferably, the blade body has a discharge section that forms the upper surface of the blade body opposite the scraper edge. With the aid of this discharge section, which is arranged on the mounting section opposite the scraper section, any excrement that may accumulate or be pushed upwards in front of the scraper element is discharged in the direction of movement, particularly when the scraper element moves above the manure collection element, at a distance in front of the manure scraper during its movement. This is intended to prevent excrement from overcoming the upper edge of the scraper element and to avoid any contact between the excrement and the parts of the manure scraper downstream of the scraper element. In particular, the cleaning effort required for the manure removal unit, which needs to be cleaned regularly, is advantageously reduced.
[0014] A further development of the housing system provides that the discharge section runs at an angle of 91°–179° to the mounting section and preferably extends only along a portion of the mounting section in the longitudinal direction of the scraper element. With its inclined orientation at an angle of 91°–179° to the mounting section, preferably at an angle of approximately 135°, the discharge element, when moved above the manure collection element, results in optimized discharge of the excrement carried on the upper side of the manure collection element in the direction of movement. This makes cleaning the manure collection element at the manure collection device of the housing system even more efficient. Furthermore, the rigidity of the blade body is increased by the scraper and discharge sections projecting at an angle from the mounting section.Preferably, the discharge section extends, similar to the slide section arranged on the opposite longitudinal side, towards the mounting section and obliquely forwards in the direction of movement of the mud slide.
[0015] Preferably, the forward-facing discharge section extends only over a portion of the mounting section. For example, in one embodiment, the end regions of the scraper element are each designed without the discharge section projecting from the top of the mounting section. This achieves advantageous clearance in conjunction with the pivoting movement of the manure scraper on the manure removal unit, as described below.
[0016] According to a preferred embodiment, the manure removal unit has a drive unit for moving the manure scraper longitudinally along the manure collection element, wherein the scraper element is oriented at an angle to the longitudinal direction of the manure collection element during operation. The drive unit is configured to move the manure removal unit above the manure collection element of the manure collection device in opposite directions along the longitudinal direction of the manure collection element. For example, a cleaning process is defined by a back-and-forth movement of the manure removal unit above the manure collection element. Preferably, the manure removal unit is moved from a starting position at the manure collection element in a forward movement longitudinally towards the manure collection element. After reaching a reversal position, the manure removal unit with the manure scraper is moved back to its starting position in a return movement.During the cleaning process, the scraper element, in particular its longitudinal axis and thus the manure scraper, is inclined to the longitudinal axis of the manure collection element located below it. As the manure scraper moves across the top of the manure collection element, loosened excrement is discharged over at least one longitudinal side of the manure collection element, which is designed as a discharge edge, and is then collected in a slurry pit located below the housing system.
[0017] According to a preferred embodiment, the manure removal unit has a pivoting unit for changing the orientation of the manure scraper relative to the manure collection element, depending on the direction of movement of the manure scraper above the collection element. The pivoting unit interacts directly with the manure scraper and adjusts its orientation relative to the upper surface of the collection element about a pivot axis that is substantially perpendicular to the upper surface. Preferably, the scraper element, and thus the manure scraper, which is movably mounted on a support frame of the manure removal unit, is oriented at an angle of approximately 20° to the longitudinal side of the collection element. The pivoting unit is configured to position the scraper element, with its leading end (as viewed in the direction of movement) spaced apart from the discharge edge for the excrement on the collection element. The rear end of the manure scraper, in the direction of movement, terminates directly at the discharge edge of the manure collection element or extends at least a short distance beyond it. Preferably, the pivoting unit has a tension element guided by deflection pulleys, which is attached to corresponding sections of the manure scraper on both sides of the pivot axis. By adjusting the tension element interacting with the manure scraper, the scraper is moved into the position above the manure collection element that corresponds to the direction of movement of the manure scraper.
[0018] A preferred embodiment of the housing system provides that the manure scraper, by changing its orientation in conjunction with an asymmetrical design of the toothed scraper edge, is configured to come into contact with different surface areas of the manure collection element when moving in opposite directions. The design according to the invention ensures that, despite the toothed scraper edge, virtually the entire upper surface of the manure collection element is cleaned of excrement generated during the cleaning process and the associated back-and-forth movement of the manure removal unit above the manure collection element.By incorporating a toothed scraper edge on the manure scraper in conjunction with the asymmetrical design and the pivoting of the manure scraper depending on its direction of movement, a more efficient cleaning of the manure collection elements is possible compared to the known state of the art, so that the necessary number of cleaning processes per unit of time can be reduced.
[0019] One possible embodiment of the housing system provides that the manure collection element has a belt body equipped at at least one of its ends with a tensioning device for tensioning the belt body longitudinally. Preferably, a belt body made of a plastic material is used as the manure collection element. To counteract sagging of the manure collection element due to its mass acting in the direction of gravity and thus ensure permanently uninterrupted contact between the manure collection element and the manure removal unit moving above the manure collection element, at least one end section of the manure collection element interacts with a tensioning device for tensioning the belt body longitudinally. The tensioning device comprises at least one, and in particular several, spring elements acting longitudinally along the belt body. The spring elements generate a sufficiently high preload force on the mudguard element, thus counteracting its sagging. Preferably, the mudguard element is additionally supported from below along predetermined sections by corresponding support structures formed on the frame.
[0020] According to a preferred embodiment of the housing system, several levels are arranged side by side at the same height, each with a manure collection device attached to the frame. Preferably, a housing system has at least two levels for the poultry arranged at the same height, with each level having its own manure collection device with a manure removal unit attached to it. Preferably, the longitudinal sides facing each other of the adjacent manure collection elements form the discharge edges for the excrement of the poultry, which is removed from the collection elements by means of the manure removal units. In one possible embodiment of the housing system according to the invention, the manure removal units on the adjacent manure collection elements are moved in opposite directions to each other during operation, i.e., during a cleaning process. Thus, both manure removal units have their starting positions at opposite ends of the manure collection devices. Preferably, the manure collection devices extend on both sides of the respective living levels above them by at least a predetermined travel range for the manure removal units, which defines the starting position for the manure removal unit or its reversal position.
[0021] According to a second aspect, the invention relates to a scraper element of a manure scraper for a manure removal unit on a housing system for poultry animals.
[0022] The invention also solves the problem underlying the housing system according to the invention with regard to the scraper element, in that the scraper element has a scraper edge with a toothed contour that rests against the upper surface of the manure collection element. A scraper element designed according to the invention thus rests directly against the upper surface of a manure collection element only with a predetermined proportion of its total length. Compared to known scraper elements, the scraper element designed according to the invention has a smaller contact area, which allows for a significantly improved cleaning effect on the upper surface of the manure collection element with the same contact force. With such a scraper element according to the invention, fewer cleaning processes are required on the feces collection device over a predetermined period of time, by means of which the feces collection element is cleaned, in particular cyclically, of the excrement produced during husbandry.
[0023] In yet another aspect, the invention relates to the use of a scraper element according to one of the preferred embodiments described above for removing feces from the upper surface of a feces collection element in a poultry housing system. Preferably, the scraper element, with its toothed scraping edge, is in contact with various surface areas of the feces collection element when moving in opposite directions and removing the feces above it. The use of such a scraper element designed according to the invention enables simplified and thus efficient cleaning of a feces collection element located below a living level in a poultry housing system.Furthermore, by using such a scraper element, the cleaning of a manure collection device on a housing system is achieved with a significantly reduced number of cleaning processes over a predetermined period compared to known solutions, thus minimizing the effort required for such cleaning.
[0024] The preferred embodiments and further developments described for the housing system according to the invention are also preferred embodiments of the scraper element according to the invention on a manure removal unit, as well as of the use according to the invention of such a scraper element for removing manure from the upper side of a manure collection element. The preferred embodiments and further developments described for the scraper element according to the invention, or for the use of the scraper element, are also preferred embodiments of the housing system.
[0025] The invention is described in more detail below with reference to a preferred embodiment and the accompanying figures. These figures show: Fig. 1: a perspective view of a housing system according to the invention for raising and keeping poultry; Fig. 2: a perspective view of a scraper element according to the invention for a manure removal unit on the housing system according to Fig. 1; Fig. 3: a side view of the scraper element according to the invention Fig. 2; Fig. 4: A perspective view of a manure collection device arranged below a living level of the housing system according to Fig. 1, and Fig. 5 and Fig. 6: Perspective views showing the cleaning process of the feces collection device using a feces removal unit that can be moved on it.
[0026] Fig. Figure 1 shows a housing system 10 for raising and keeping poultry, comprising a frame 12 and several accommodation levels 14, 14' arranged at different heights on the frame 12 for the poultry. A manure collection device 16 is arranged below at least one, and in particular several, of the accommodation levels 14, 14'. Each manure collection device 16 has, as shown in connection with Fig. 4 to remove, at least one substantially horizontally extending fecal collection element 18.
[0027] Each fecal collection device 16 has at least one fecal removal unit 20 movable above the fecal collection element 18, with at least one fecal scraper 24 that removes the excrement from the upper surface 22 of the fecal collection element 18. Fig. 4) assigned. The manure removal unit 20 has a drive unit 26 for moving the manure scraper 24 in the longitudinal direction R. L of the feces collection element 18.
[0028] The in Fig. 4 illustrated manure scrapers 24 have a Fig. Figure 2 shows a scraper element 28, which has a scraper edge 30 with a toothed contour 32 that is in contact with the upper surface 22 of the manure collection element 18. The toothed contour 32 is formed alternately by projecting teeth 34, 34', which are in direct contact with the upper surface 22 of the manure collection element 18, and recessed tooth gaps 36, 36'.
[0029] The scraper element 28 comprises a blade body 38 with a mounting section 40, which is substantially vertically oriented or runs vertically during operation of the scraper element 28. A slide section 42, having the scraper edge 30 and facing the manure collection element 18, is also provided on the blade body 38. Teeth 34, 34' and tooth gaps 36, 36' are arranged on the slide section 42. The slide section 42 is inclined at an angle α in the range of 91°–179° to the mounting section 40.
[0030] The slide section 42 extends with its 32 teeth in the embodiment shown here in the direction of movement R. B of the mudguard 24 diagonally forwards. As further explained Fig. As can be seen in Figure 2, the toothed contour 32 is asymmetrically formed with respect to the longitudinal axis A of the wiper element 28. The longitudinal axis A of the wiper element 28 lies precisely on a transition area U between a tooth 34 and a tooth gap 36, in particular on a tooth flank 44.
[0031] The interdental spaces 36, 36' point at the stripping edge 30 in the longitudinal direction R A of the wiper element 28 dimensions, in particular a tooth gap width B W , on, which in comparison to the dimensions of the projecting teeth 34, 34', in particular the tooth width B Z , are larger. Preferably the interdental space width B Wby a factor of 1.1, preferably at least a factor of 1.2, greater than the tooth width B Z .
[0032] As the Fig. 2 and Fig. As shown in Figure 3, the leaf body 38 has a discharge section 46, which forms the upper surface 48 of the leaf body 38 opposite the stripping edge 30. The discharge section 46 runs similarly to the slide section 42 at an angle β in the range of 91°–179°, in particular at an angle β of 135° inclined to the attachment section 40 on the stripping element.
[0033] Drop section 46 extends in the longitudinal direction R A of the stripping element 28 only along a partial length of the fastening section 28. The ejection section 46 is also inclined forwards in the direction of movement R. B aligned with the scraper element 28.
[0034] Furthermore, how from Fig. As can be seen in Figure 2, the teeth 34, 34' projecting from the slide section 42 have a uniform tooth width B in their respective directions of extension. Z and the interdental spaces 36, 36' formed between them have a uniform interdental space width B W in one embodiment not shown, the tooth width B Z as well as the interdental space width B W in the direction of extension of the teeth they become larger or smaller, so that the tooth flanks 44 of the teeth 34, 34' run wedge-shaped towards each other.
[0035] In Fig. Figure 4 shows, by way of example, a manure collection device 16 to be arranged below a standing level 14, 14' of the housing system 10, with the manure removal unit 20 arranged above the manure collection element 18 in a movable, in particular movable, manner. The manure removal unit 20 comprises a manure scraper 24 which has a scraping element 28 that interacts with the upper surface 22 of the manure collection element 18.
[0036] The scraper element 28 is arranged with its fastening section 40 on a rod-shaped retaining part 50, wherein the scraper element 28 is inclined at an angle δ of approximately 20° to the longitudinal direction R Lthe manure collection element 18 is aligned. The drive unit 26 moves the manure removal unit with the manure scraper 24 along the top 22 of the manure collection element 18 and moves the excrement of the poultry animals that has accumulated on the manure collection element 18 down a longitudinal side 52, which defines a discharge edge 52' of the manure collection element 18, and transfers it into a slurry pit located below the housing system 10.
[0037] The manure removal unit 20 further comprises a pivoting unit 54 for changing the orientation of the manure scraper 24 relative to the manure collection element 18 depending on the direction of movement R. B of the mud scraper 24 above the mud collection element 18. The pivoting unit 54 comprises a support frame 56 on which a pivot bearing 58 with a pivot axis Z oriented perpendicular to the mud collection element 18 is arranged for the mud scraper 24 which is pivotably articulated on the support frame 56.
[0038] The manure collection element 18, in the embodiment shown here, is a belt body 60 which is arranged at predetermined intervals in the longitudinal direction R L is supported at least from its underside. In addition, a tensioning device 62 acts on the band body 60 at at least one of its ends 60' to tension the band body 60 in the longitudinal direction R. L together. In one embodiment, the clamping device 62 has several spring elements 64 acting on the end 60' of the band body 60, which in this case are designed as tension springs.
[0039] In the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6 is an enlarged representation of the in Fig. Figure 4 shows the manure collection device 16 with the manure removal unit 20 that can be moved over it, with several manure collection devices 16 being mounted side by side at the same height on the frame 12 of the housing system 10 ( Fig. 1) are arranged.
[0040] The Fig. 5 and Fig. Figure 6 shows different time points within a cleaning process carried out on the fecal collection device 16. Fig. 5 is in particular the movement of the fecal removal unit 20 from the in Fig. 4 starting position P shown on the way forward with the mud scraper 24 located in orientation K1 into a reversal position formed at the opposite end of the mud collection device 16, not shown in detail, and in Fig. 6 The movement of the fecal removal unit 20 above the fecal collection device 16 from the reversal position on the return path with the fecal scraper 24 in the orientation K2 to the respective starting position P at the fecal collection device 16 is shown.
[0041] The manure removal units 20, which are movably mounted above the manure collection devices 16, are operated in opposite directions to each other. Furthermore, each manure scraper 24 is configured, by changing its orientation K1, K2 above the collection element 18 in conjunction with the asymmetrical design of the toothed scraper edge 30 on the scraper element 28, to come into contact with different surface areas of the manure collection element 18 when moving in opposite directions. The scraper element 28 with its teeth thus comes into contact with the manure collection element 18 during the movement in opposite directions. Fig. 5 shown, the cleaning process is in direct contact with surface areas of the feces collection element that are different from the surface areas of the feces collection element with which the teeth 34, 34' of the scraper element 28 directly come into contact during the Fig. 6. Come into contact with the reverse movement shown.
[0042] To pivot the mud scraper 24, the pivoting unit 54 has a pull element 68 guided by deflection rollers 66, which is attached to sections of the mud scraper 24 on both sides of the pivot bearing 58. By adjusting the pull element 66, the mud scraper 24 with the scraper element 28 attached to it is moved into the respective position. Fig. 5 shown alignment K1 and in Fig. The orientation K2 shown in Figure 6 moves above the manure collection element 18. When the manure scraper 24 moves over the adjacent manure collection elements 18, the excrement is discharged via the mutually facing longitudinal sides 52 into a gap 70 between the manure collection elements 18 and collected in a slurry pit (not shown in detail).
