Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to an automated nail driving device capable of efficiently and precisely driving nails into various surfaces, such as wood or concrete, in an automated manner, thereby eliminating labor costs and significantly reducing the time required. Furthermore, the proposed device is also capable of filling the hole specified by the user with an adhesive solution, allowing the user to drive nails into the surface without drilling an additional hole. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Driving nails into surfaces is a fundamental technique used in various industries, particularly construction, woodworking, and manufacturing. It involves driving nails, usually made of metal, into various materials or surfaces, such as wood, drywall, or metal, to securely join them together. Whether building a home, assembling furniture, or constructing industrial machinery, precisely driving nails is critical to structural integrity and durability. Therefore, a device must be developed that can accurately and automatically drive nails into various materials or surfaces.

[0003] Traditionally, nails were driven by hand. People would use a hammer or similar tool to drive the nails through the material and into the surface. While this method is simple and has been used for centuries, it does have some disadvantages. First, driving nails by hand is time-consuming, especially for larger projects that require numerous nails. Each nail must be positioned and driven in individually, which is a tedious and labor-intensive process. There is also a risk of damage to the wall surface or surrounding areas if the nail is not driven accurately or if too much force is applied. This will result in unsightly holes, cracks, or splintered wood that will require additional time and effort to repair.

[0004] US4139136A discloses an invention comprising a nail driver with a rod extendable within a hollow, elongated tube. One end of the rod is designed to drive nails, and a weighted handle is attached to the other end. The tube has at least one chamber for holding the nails in the position they are to be driven by the driver, and the chamber has a slot for receiving the nails. Means are provided for feeding the nails through the slot. Preferably, there are two such chambers and two such feed devices, one chamber and the feed devices being suitable for flat-headed nails, and the other chamber and the devices being suitable for fine-headed nails. The driving end of the rod is forked, with one part being designed to drive nails in one chamber and the other part being designed to drive flat-headed nails in the other chamber. The driving end of the rod and the chamber are interchangeable, allowing the invention to be used to drive a variety of nail sizes and types. While the US '136 is capable of driving nails into the surface, the cited invention is not capable of efficiently and precisely driving nails into different surfaces such as wood or concrete in an automated manner, thus eliminating labor costs and reducing the high time required.

[0005] US20040084503A1 discloses an invention comprising a nail driving device including a hammer, a first solenoid, a second solenoid, and a controller. The hammer can drive a nail into a workpiece. The first solenoid can be energized to drive the hammer. The second solenoid can be energized to drive the hammer after the first solenoid. The spring tends to bias the hammer to its original position when the second solenoid is de-energized. If the nail has not fully penetrated the workpiece, the controller energizes the second solenoid to drive the hammer once more. US'503 is capable of driving the nail into the workpiece. However, the cited invention lacks the ability to fill the hole specified by the user with an adhesive solution, so the user cannot insert nails into the surface without drilling an additional hole.

[0006] To date, many devices have been developed that can drive nails into surfaces. However, these devices are unable to efficiently and precisely drive nails into different surfaces such as wood or concrete in an automated manner, thereby eliminating labor costs and reducing time. They are also unable to fill the hole specified by the user with an adhesive solution, preventing the user from driving nails into the surface without drilling an additional hole.

[0007] To overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, there is a need to develop a device capable of efficiently and precisely driving nails into different surfaces, such as wood or concrete, in an automated manner, thus eliminating labor costs and reducing the high time required. Furthermore, the proposed device is also capable of filling the hole specified by the user with an adhesive solution, allowing the user to drive nails into the surface without drilling an additional hole. OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

[0008] The main object of the present invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art.

[0021] The singular forms “a”, “an” and “the” used here refer to both the singular and the plural, unless expressly intended to refer to only the singular.

[0022] The present invention relates to an automated device for driving nails into different surfaces such as wood or concrete, thereby avoiding labor costs and high time expenditure. Furthermore, the proposed device is also capable of filling the hole specified by the user with an adhesive solution, allowing the user to insert the nails into the surface without drilling an additional hole.

[0023] Referring to Fig. and Fig.An isometric view of an automatic nail driving device is shown, comprising a platform 101 connected to the device, positioned within a housing and configured with a plurality of motorized wheels 102, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 103 installed on the platform 101, an interactive touch display panel 104 mounted on the platform 101, a telescopically actuated linkage 105 configured between the platform 101 and each of the wheels 102, an L-shaped telescopic rod 106 installed on the platform 101, a primary circular element 107 connected to the free end of the rod 106, a container 108 arranged on the platform 101, a robotic gripper 109 installed on the platform 101, and an electromagnet 202 configured on a secondary circular element 201.which is connected to the primary element 107 via a plurality of electromagnetic springs 204, a vibrating unit 203 configured with the secondary element, a multi-part chamber 110 configured on the platform 101, an electronic nozzle 111 by means of a conduit 112 arranged between each of the sections and the nozzle 111, and a shutter 113 installed with each of the sections.

[0024] The proposed device comprises a platform 101 arranged within a housing. The platform 101, as used in the present invention, is made of any material selected from, but not limited to, metallic material suitable for positioning within the housing. The platform 101 is configured with a plurality of motorized wheels 102, the number of which ranges between 4 and 6, for maneuvering the platform 101 across a floor surface. Furthermore, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 103 is installed on the platform 101 and coupled to a processor for capturing and processing multiple images of the environment. The artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 103 is equipped with AI (artificial intelligence) protocols encoded in the microcontroller, which are used to process and analyze the images captured by the camera, allowing it to perform various tasks beyond conventional image acquisition.

[0025] AI analysis is performed locally on the camera itself, and real-time processing on the camera enables immediate reactions and faster decisions. The camera captures multiple images of the environment using special lenses designed to capture high-quality imagery. The captured data is then preprocessed by the processor to improve its quality and prepare it for AI analysis. This preprocessing includes tasks such as noise reduction, image stabilization, and color correction. Based on the data extracted from the captured images, the microcontroller evaluates a 3D (three-dimensional) mapping of the environment.

[0026] Additionally, the 3D (three-dimensional) image is displayed on an interactive touch display 104 mounted on platform 101, allowing the user to select an area of the enclosure where they wish to insert nails into large holes in the enclosure. The interactive touch display 104 used here is a type of liquid crystal display (LCD) that detects user touch inputs. It consists of both an input unit (preferably a capacitive touch panel) and an output unit (a visual display). The capacitive touch panel 104 is mounted on top of the visual display. The touch panel 104 consists of an insulator, such as glass, coated with a transparent conductor, such as indium tin oxide (ITO). When the user touches the surface of the screen to enter input commands, the screen's electrostatic field is distorted, which is measured as a change in capacitance. This change in capacitance is used to determine the location of the contact.

[0027] The detected contact location is then sent as electrical signals to a microcontroller on the platform 101, which processes the signals. Upon receiving the signal, the microcontroller compares the received signal with pre-fed data stored in a database linked to the microcontroller. Based on the compared data, the microcontroller allows the user to select an area of the enclosure where the user wishes to insert nails into large holes within the enclosure. Accordingly, the microcontroller controls the operation of the wheels 102 to position the platform 101 near the area specified by the user.

[0028] The numerous motorized wheels 102, ranging in number from 4 to 6, enable the platform 101 to be maneuvered across a floor surface. The aforementioned motorized wheels 102 range in number from 4 to 6, and each of the wheels 102 is coupled to a DC motor, which is activated by the microcontroller to drive the wheels 102 in a circular motion. The operating principle of a DC motor is based on the interaction between a magnetic field and an electric current. When an electric current flows through the wire coil, also called the armature, it generates a magnetic field. This magnetic field interacts with the stationary magnets, called the stator, and causes the armature to rotate.Rotation is achieved by reversing the direction of current flow in the armature coil using a commutator and brushes that provide continuous movement of the motor, creating a circular motion to position the platform 101 near the area specified by the user.

[0029] Next, a telescopically actuated link 105 is configured between the platform 101 and each of the wheels 102, which is actuated by the microcontroller to extend upward and position the platform 101 near the large hole specified by the user. The aforementioned telescopically actuated link 105 is driven by a pneumatic unit consisting of an air compressor, an air cylinder, air valves, and a piston. The air valve allows the inlet and outlet of compressed air from the compressor. Furthermore, the valve opens, and compressed air enters the cylinder, increasing the air pressure of the cylinder. The piston is connected to the cylinder, and due to the increase in air pressure, the piston moves upward to position the platform 101 near the large hole specified by the user.

[0030] After successfully positioning the platform 101, the microcontroller actuates an L-shaped telescopic rod 106 installed on the platform 101 to extend a primary circular element 107, which is attached to the free end of the rod near the hole. The L-shaped telescopic rod 106 used here works with the aforementioned pneumatic unit to position a primary circular element 107, which is attached to the free end of the rod 106 near the hole.

[0031] Next, a container 108, in which metal nails of various sizes are stored, is arranged on the platform 101. Here, a robot gripper 109 is installed on the platform 101 and is actuated by the microcontroller in synchronization with the imaging unit 103 to grip and secure a nail with an electromagnet 202 configured on a secondary circular element 201. As mentioned above, the robot gripper 109 comprises a joint 105 connected to several motorized ball joints and a gripper 109 for smoothly and precisely gripping the nail. The motorized ball joint comprises a motor driven by the microcontroller that generates an electric current, a spherical element, and a bushing. The ball is freely movable in the socket. The motor rotates the ball in different directions, controlled by the microcontroller, which also commands the motor to precisely position the ball. The microcontroller also controls the motor to generate electric current to rotate in the joint and move the gripper 109 to grip and secure a nail using an electromagnet 202 disposed on a secondary circular element 201. The secondary element is further connected to the primary element 107 via a plurality of electromagnetic springs 204 disposed between the primary and secondary elements, with an insulating layer embedded over the secondary element facing the electromagnetic springs 204 to create a barrier between the electromagnetic spring and the electromagnet 202.

[0032] Accordingly, a multi-compartment chamber 110 is configured on the platform 101, allowing the storage of various adhesive solutions. Each section is connected to an electronic nozzle 111 via a line 112 arranged between each section and the nozzle 111. A shutter 113 is then installed with each section and actuated by the microcontroller to dispense a regulated amount of the adhesive solution through the lines 112, which is transferred to the nozzle 111. The shutter cover 113 used here comprises an inner flat ring, an outer flat ring, and an even number of shutter blades. Each shutter blade is attached to the inner ring via a rotating device, and the outer ring is provided with a roller connected to a bidirectional motor coupled to the microcontroller. The upper and lower rings are located at the same center and are in contact with the roller.

[0033] The iris lid 113 is opened or closed by rotating the outer ring around its center while holding the inner ring stationary. Upon activation of the iris lid 113, the microcontroller controls the opening and closing of the iris lid 113 to dispense a pre-calibrated amount of adhesive solution into the conduits 112. Upon actuation of the iris lid 113, the motor rotates counterclockwise, causing the roller to also rotate counterclockwise, which in turn opens the surface and allows the adhesive solution to flow to the conduits 112.

[0034] At the same time, the microcontroller actuates nozzle 111, which is connected to lines 112, to inject the adhesive solution into the hole specified by the user, filling the hole with the adhesive solution. The electronic nozzle 111 described here controls the opening and closing of the nozzle 111 opening. Once the actuating mechanism receives a corresponding electrical signal, it triggers the movement that opens or closes nozzle 111. This process controls the flow of adhesive solution through nozzle 111. Nozzle 111 enables precise control of the flow rate and direction of the adhesive solution.By modulating the actuation mechanism according to the desired parameters, the nozzle 111 is able to regulate the flow and dose the adhesive solution precisely into the hole specified by the user to fill the hole with the adhesive solution, with a weight sensor installed in the sections to monitor the weight of the dispensed adhesive solution.

[0035] The weight sensor consists of a coiled membrane and a sensor module. The membrane changes in size based on the weight of the adhesive solution, which is detected by the sensor module. The sensor module detects the weight changes, and based on the changes in the membrane's size, the recorded data is transmitted as a signal to the microcontroller for further processing. Upon receiving the signal, the microcontroller compares the received signal with the data stored in the microcontroller's database and, based on the compared data, monitors the weight of the dispensed adhesive solution. Once the monitored weight matches the detected amount, the microcontroller deactivates the iris diaphragm 113, thus preventing accidental dispensing of adhesive solution.

[0036] A vibration unit 203 is then configured with the secondary element to generate vibrations of a predefined intensity, which are transmitted to the dispensed adhesive solution to eliminate the likelihood of bubbles forming in the adhesive solution during dispensing. The vibration unit 203, as used here, reciprocates or reciprocates very rapidly, resulting in a controlled and reproducible mechanical vibration that reduces the likelihood of bubbles forming in the adhesive solution during dispensing. A tactile sensor is installed on the secondary element to detect the hardness of the adhesive solution.

[0037] The tactile sensor, installed on the secondary element, detects the hardness of the adhesive solution as the adhesive solution dries. The aforementioned tactile sensor includes a sensing element known as an elastomer, which detects the interaction of the adhesive solution. When the sensor is exposed to the interaction, the sensor is activated and behaves like a switch. When the interaction is removed, the tactile sensor behaves like a closed switch and experiences the force exerted by the surface. This force causes a deflection of the elastomer, which is measured and converted into an electrical signal. The tactile sensor then transmits the electrical signal to the microcontroller connected to the sensor. The microcontroller then evaluates the signal to determine the hardness of the adhesive solution.

[0038] After the adhesive solution has dried, the microcontroller actuates the electromagnetic springs 204 to give the secondary plate a jerking motion so that the nail can be easily inserted into the hole. As mentioned above, the electromagnetic springs 204 provide a jerking motion to the secondary plate to easily insert the nail into the hole. The electromagnetic springs 204 are a special type of spring in which the magnetic field is generated by an electric current. When the current flows through the spring, it creates a magnetic field around the spring, which facilitates the springs 204 to give the secondary plate a jerking motion to easily insert the nail into the hole.

[0039] Finally, a battery (not shown in the diagram) is connected to the device to power all the electrical and electronic components necessary for its proper operation. The battery is connected to the microcontroller and supplies direct current to the microcontroller. The microcontroller then sends this current, depending on the sequence of operations, to the specific electrical or electronic components so that they can effectively perform their respective functions.

[0040] The present invention works best in the following manner: where the platform 101, as disclosed in the present invention, is connected to the device, here the plurality of motorized wheels 102 maneuver the platform 101 across the floor surface. Furthermore, the artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 103 captures and processes multiple images of the environment. The built-in microcontroller, connected to the processor, processes the captured images and evaluates a 3D (three-dimensional) map of the environment, which is displayed on the interactive touch display 104, which allows the user to select an area of the cabinet where they wish to insert nails into large holes within the cabinet. Accordingly, the microcontroller controls the actuation of the wheels 102 to position the platform 101 near the area specified by the user.Subsequently, the telescopically actuated member 105 extends upward to position the platform 101 near the large hole specified by the user. After the platform 101 is successfully positioned, the microcontroller actuates the L-shaped telescopic rod 106, which extends to position the primary circular element 107 near the hole. Metal nails of various sizes are then stored in the container 108. Furthermore, the electromagnet 202 is configured on a secondary circular element 201, which is connected to the primary element 107 via a plurality of electromagnetic springs 204 configured between the primary and secondary elements.

[0041] Subsequently, the insulating layer forms a barrier between the electromagnetic spring and the electromagnet 202. Consequently, the multi-compartment chamber 110 is loaded with various adhesive solutions, and each section is connected to the electronic nozzle 111 via a line. The orifice plate 113 is actuated by the microcontroller to dispense a regulated amount of adhesive solution through the lines 112, which is transferred to the nozzle 111. Simultaneously, the microcontroller controls the nozzle 111 to dispense the adhesive solution into the hole specified by the user, thereby filling the hole with adhesive solution. At the same time, the vibration unit 203 generates vibrations of a predefined intensity, which are transferred to the dispensed adhesive solution to eliminate the risk of bubble formation in the adhesive solution. The touch sensor then detects the hardness of the adhesive solution after it has dried. Based on the detected hardness, the microcontroller actuates the electromagnetic springs 204 to cause the secondary plate to tumble, allowing the nail to be easily inserted into the hole. Finally, the weight sensor monitors the weight of the dispensed adhesive solution, and once the monitored weight matches the detected amount, the microcontroller deactivates the shutter 113.

[0042] Although the scope of the invention has been described herein with limited reference to specific embodiments, this description is not intended to be construed in a limiting sense. Various modifications of the disclosed embodiments, as well as alternative embodiments of the invention, will become apparent to those skilled in the art from the description of the invention.
