Abstract

Screw cap with segmented thread characterized in that it consists of an outer cap(2) with a smooth surface and a threaded insert(3) with segmented thread.

Description

[0001] My invention describes a screw cap with a segmented thread, with a smooth outer surface, made entirely of aluminum except for the sealing ring.

[0002] It consists of three components. The outer cap (2), the threaded insert (3) and the sealing ring (5). The outer cap (2) and the threaded insert (3) are manufactured using a deep-drawing process.

[0003] To manufacture the thread profile(10) in the thread insert(3), segment webs(8) are pre-formed, into which the thread profile(10) can then be rolled or pressed. Since the material in the area of ​​the segment webs(8) is pre-formed, a greater thread depth can be achieved during thread forming than with conventional methods.

[0004] Another advantage of the segmented webs(8) is that parts of the outer surfaces(11) are not deformed but remain smooth, thus ensuring precise assembly of the threaded insert(3) with the outer cap(2).

[0005] A dome (6) is formed at the base of the threaded insert (3), onto which the seal (5) is then pushed. The seal (5) is held by cams (7) and can then be easily removed for recycling the screw cap (1).
