Abstract

A device for the complete restoration of knee extension is characterized in that the entire leg lies within the device (Figure 2) and the force is transmitted to the knee via a type of screw (1). The screw (1) is connected to the base plate (3). The pressure piece (2) is mounted on the screw (1).

Description

[0001] After cruciate ligament surgery or other knee procedures, patients typically follow a standardized recovery process: surgery, a period of rest until medical clearance, followed by physical therapy. However, after the prescribed physical therapy is completed, many patients are largely left to manage their rehabilitation on their own.

[0002] One of the key knee movements is full extension. While physical therapists regularly assess this ability at the beginning and during treatment, there is no way for patients to specifically train knee extension at home. While health insurance often provides aids for knee flexion, there is hardly any comparable support for extension – apart from general stretching exercises, which are often inadequate.

[0003] The present invention according to claim 1 is based on the object of developing a device that enables patients to specifically promote knee extension independently at home or in cooperation with their physiotherapist.

[0004] The features specified in claim 1 describe a device specifically designed to restore knee extension. It allows patients to work on their knee extension in a mobile and effective manner from home.

[0005] The device features a simple and user-friendly design. It allows the patient to comfortably train knee extension while sitting. The necessary force is generated by a screw (1) connected to a pressure piece (2) underneath. This pressure piece (2) ensures economical and even transmission of force to the knee.

[0006] Furthermore, the special mounting of the pressure piece (2) described in claim 2 ensures gentle and even loading of the knee joint. The combination of these properties results in effective and comfortable application, supporting the complete restoration of knee extension. Claims

[1] Device for the complete restoration of knee extension (knee extension) characterized by that the entire leg is in the device ( Fig. 2) and the force is transferred to the knee via a type of screw (1). The screw (1) is connected to the base plate (3). The pressure piece (2) is mounted on the screw (1). [2] Device according to claim 1, characterized by The ball joint bearing between the screw (1) and the thrust piece (2) ensures even force transmission. The ball bearing is designed so that the screw (1) and thrust piece (2) are firmly connected to each other, yet remain flexible. [3] Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized bythat the two pipe bends (11) and the attached base plate (3) remain movable. A clamping piece RØ16 A∅16 (5) is attached to each end of the two pipe bends (11). These, in turn, grip the diameter of the wide pipe (11). Thus, the pipe bends (11) and the base plate (3) are mounted so that they can move in one direction. This allows for optimal adaptation to the shape of the knee and leg. [4] Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by This allows for patient leg lengths to be accommodated. The leg length can be adjusted by sliding the inner tube (10), which sits within the outer tube (9), in and out. This is simultaneously secured via the holes with a spring-loaded snap fastener to prevent the tubes from slipping. [5] Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized byThis allows for adjustment to accommodate patients' different thigh widths. To do this, the width tube (11) and the tube bend (7) are exchanged. This is done quickly and easily without any tools. [6] Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by The screw (1), thrust piece (2), base plate (3), clamping piece R∅17 AØ16 (4), clamping piece R∅16 A∅16 (5), clamping piece R∅20 A∅16 (6), guide piece (8), and the corner feet (12) are made of plastic. However, these can also be made of other materials. [7] Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized bythat the components: base plate (3), clamping piece RØ17 AØ16 (4), clamping piece RØ16 AØ16 (5), clamping piece RØ20 AØ16 (6), and the guide piece (8) are designed and constructed in such a way that they maintain their position during use with a positive fit. Likewise, all clamping pieces ((4) (5) (6)) have an additional hole / bore for a screw or threaded pin for force-locking. [8] Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by that the design of the device is simple and mobile so that it can be used by the patient both independently at home and under the guidance of a physiotherapist. [9] Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized bythat the screw (1), pressure piece (2), base plate (3), clamping piece RØ17 AØ16 (4), clamping piece RØ16 AØ16 (5), clamping piece RØ20 AØ16 (6), guide piece (8), and the corner feet (12) are made of plastic. However, these can also be made of other materials. [10] Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by that all of the device's tubes are made of aluminum. However, they could also be made of other materials, as long as they don't rust. [11] Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by that it stands on corner feet (12) and thus guarantees a secure stand and a punctual support.
