Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a monitoring system for intersection areas, in particular for use in internal traffic routes with industrial trucks, consisting of a hemispherical mirror, several motion sensors and optical signaling devices.
[0002] The hemispherical mirror provides all-around visibility in intersections with poor visibility. To improve the detection of approaching vehicles or pedestrians, the mirror is equipped with several motion sensors oriented in different directions. Each sensor is associated with a corresponding optical signaling device, preferably a light signal.
[0003] When one of the sensors detects movement or the approach of a vehicle or pedestrian, the corresponding light signal automatically switches to a warning or alert color. This visually indicates to other road users that a vehicle or pedestrian is approaching the intersection from that direction. This allows for early mutual perception and increases traffic safety at the intersection.
[0004] In the event of a power failure or malfunction of the electronic components, the basic function of the hemispherical mirror for passive all-round optical vision is still maintained, ensuring visual monitoring of the intersection area in every operating condition.
