Mattress protector and rescue cover

Abstract

The device is characterized in that a protective cover made of polyurethane-coated fabric is manufactured for a mattress such that the top (A), all four side panels (B) are protected, and a protective strip (C) of 5-15 cm is present all around the underside edge. The remaining opening (D) on the underside is closed with an antimicrobial, non-siliconized polyester fabric. This flap is sewn firmly (E) to the protective cover described above on one long side and has a zipper on the other three sides (F). After the zipper is closed, this cover completely encloses the mattress. Two straps are sewn onto each of the two long sides of this antimicrobial polyester fabric, one with hook-and-loop fasteners (H) and the other with loop fasteners (G) so that they can be connected to each other.To prevent these straps from flapping around, they are folded and tucked in using a sewn-on tab (I), so that they are immediately available and usable at their full length with a simple manual pull when needed. At the head end, a larger loop (J) made of the aforementioned webbing is sewn onto the antimicrobial polyester, allowing the wrapped or bound patient, along with the mattress, to be pulled.
