Abstract

System (10) for electrically stunning a slaughter animal (12) in a stunning area (20) that is not visually perceptible to the slaughter animal (12), comprising: - at least one robot arm (32) comprising an electrical stunning tong (34) for stunning the slaughter animal (12), wherein the robot arm (32) is configured to position the electrical stunning tong (34) at predefined contact points on a body part of the slaughter animal (12), preferably on the head of the slaughter animal (12), for stunning the slaughter animal (12), wherein the electrical stunning tong (34) comprises a sensor device for monitoring the stunning process, - a sensor unit comprising at least one LiDAR device (28) and at least one infrared camera (30), wherein the sensor unit is configured to monitor the position, orientation, and movement of the slaughter animal (12) in the stunning area (20) of the system, which is not visually perceptible to the slaughter animal (12). (10) to capture in real time,- a control unit (26) which is configured to evaluate data acquired by the sensor unit and data acquired by the sensor device in real time and to control the at least one robot arm (32) for positioning the electro-stunning tongs (34).
