Abstract

Device (V) for detecting a patient alarm (A) during medical treatment by a medical device (MA), comprising: - a transmitting unit (SE) configured to emit an optical signal (OS) along a predefined beam path (SG); - a receiving unit (EE) arranged at the end of the beam path (SG) configured to detect the optical signal (OS); wherein: - the beam path (SG) runs in a straight channel (R) and substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the channel (R); - the channel (R) has a reversibly deformable outer surface (AF) configured such that it can be moved into the beam path (SG) when a manual force is applied by the patient (P) to modify the optical signal (OS); and - a circuit arrangement (SA) coupled to the receiving unit (EE) which generates an electrical signal when a modified optical signal (OS) is detected.
