Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present invention relates to a sealing unit for a door or a window. STATE OF THE ART

[0002] Door seals are typically used in areas where light penetration is to be prevented and / or sound insulation is to be ensured. Lowerable door seals usually consist of a housing rail in the form of a downwardly open, U-shaped profile rail, a sealing strip with a sealing element held in this housing rail and movable relative to it, and a lowering mechanism for lowering and raising the sealing strip. The sealing strip usually lowers automatically when the door is closed by a force acting longitudinally on an actuating rod, activating the mechanical lowering mechanism against a spring force. Sliding seals are also known, which also seal a door gap between a movable door leaf and a frame or building part.

[0003] WO 2016 / 066576 A1 and WO 2016 / 066577 A2 disclose a door seal suitable for use in exterior doors and offering optimal protection against driving rain. This seal discloses a retractable sealing strip with a support rail and a sealing profile, wherein the sealing profile seals against the door frame on at least one end face, preferably on both end faces. The sealing profile is held in the support rail so that it can be displaced in the longitudinal direction. Its protrusion relative to the support rail and thus also relative to the casing rail is adjustable by means of an adjustable pressure plate connected to the sealing profile.

[0004] EP 3 203 006 A1 and DE 20 2016 101 599 U1 propose that the sealing profile protrude on one or both end faces of the sealing device when raised. It is also proposed that the sealing profile project beyond the support rail. DE 20 2011 051 326 U1 discloses a door seal with a retractable sealing strip. The sealing strip has a first and a second retaining means and a sealing profile arranged on both retaining means, with the sealing profile protruding from the end faces of the retaining means. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0005] It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a sealing device which is designed cost-effectively and nevertheless enables an optimal lateral seal.

[0006] This object is achieved by a sealing device having the features of patent claim 1 and a method having the features of patent claim 14.

[0007] The sealing device according to the invention for a door or window comprises a housing rail and a sealing strip with a support rail and a sealing profile. The sealing strip can be lowered and raised relative to the housing rail by means of a lowering mechanism, whereby the sealing strip moves without changing its own length during lowering. The sealing profile has a first end face and a second end face opposite the first end face. These first and second ends are arranged relative to the housing rail such that, when the sealing strip is lowered, both of the two ends project beyond the housing rail face face and seal the face face.

[0008] Since the sealing profile protrudes on both sides of the housing rail when lowered, it can be used not only to seal against the floor but also to seal the front of the housing on both sides.

[0009] The sealing strip moves by a first length relative to the housing rail during lowering in the longitudinal direction of the sealing device without changing its own length. This movement is typically caused by the lowering mechanism, in particular by the bending of the at least one leaf spring of the lowering mechanism, wherein one end of the leaf spring is displaced in the longitudinal direction of the housing rail by means of a slider, a middle end is attached to the sealing strip, and another end of the leaf spring is fixed in position to the housing rail. Other types of lowering mechanisms also produce a displacement in the longitudinal direction.

[0010] The first end face can be pushed towards the housing rail when the sealing strip is lowered in the longitudinal direction of the sealing device and the second end face is pushed away from the housing rail when the sealing strip is lowered in the longitudinal direction of the sealing device, both ends being moved by the above-mentioned first length, i.e. by the lateral displacement of the sealing strip caused by the lowering mechanism.

[0011] Preferably, in the raised state of the sealing strip, the first end protrudes from the housing rail in the longitudinal direction of the sealing device by a second length, wherein this second length is greater than the lateral displacement of the sealing strip. Thus, when the seal is lowered, this first end still protrudes from the housing rail.

[0012] Preferably, when the sealing strip is raised, the second end protrudes in the longitudinal direction of the sealing device by a third of the length of the housing rail, or it is set back into the housing rail by this length. This third length is preferably shorter than the first length. This prevents the sealing profile from being pushed out of the housing rail too tightly when the sealing strip is lowered. The sealing profile can also be arranged at this second end so that it is flush with the housing rail.

[0013] Known lowering mechanisms and trigger elements can be used to actuate the lowering mechanism. The lowering mechanism preferably comprises at least one leaf spring, which is attached to a slider at one end, pivotally mounted to the housing at a second end, and connected to the sealing strip in the middle region. The slider is preferably connected to an actuating button, which is automatically actuated when the door leaf is closed, thus activating the lowering mechanism. These devices are well known in the art. Such actuating buttons can also be used with other types of known lowering mechanisms, in particular with spring-loaded mechanisms. The actuating button is preferably provided on one end of the housing rail and is pressed towards the housing rail when closing. It serves to trigger the seal on one side. However, in other embodiments it can also be pulled out and / or it is arranged on the side of the housing rail.

[0014] In a preferred embodiment, the lowering mechanism can be activated by means of an actuating button protruding from one side of the housing rail to lower the sealing strip. The first end of the sealing profile is preferably arranged on the same side as the actuating button, and in the raised state, it protrudes by a greater length than the second end. This ensures that the first end continues to protrude from the housing rail even after the sealing strip has been lowered, but the second end does not protrude too far in the lowered state.

[0015] Preferably, the sealing profile is held in the support rail, being movable relative to the support rail at both ends in the longitudinal direction of the sealing device and being held fixed in these movable positions even when the sealing strip is raised. This allows for easy extension of the sealing profile, for example, by pulling it outward on both sides.

[0016] To prevent the sealing profile from shrinking back into its extended, particularly stretched, state, a sliding module is preferably provided on at least one end face, preferably on each end face, of the housing rail. This sliding module allows the sealing profile to be moved into the sliding position and secured in this position. The at least one sliding module facilitates the extension of the sealing profile, particularly its stretching. At the same time, it serves to hold the sealing profile in the desired position.

[0017] Thanks to the use of at least one sliding module, known sealing strips with known support rails and sealing profiles can also be easily used in the sealing device according to the invention. Preferably, only the support rail or the sealing profile needs to be modified so that the sealing profile is held slidingly in the support rail, and the support rail needs to be modified so that a sliding module can be mounted on one or both sides.

[0018] Preferably, the at least one sliding module is displaceable relative to the support rail in the longitudinal direction of the sealing device and can be fixed in the displaced position. Preferably, the at least one sliding module forms an extension of the support rail. If two sliding modules are present, they form an extension of the support rail on both sides. Preferably, the at least one sliding module is screwed to the support rail. Preferably, the screw connection serves to adjust the position of the at least one sliding module relative to the support rail in the longitudinal direction of the seal and thus the length of the sealing profile.

[0019] Preferably, the sealing profile is connected to the at least one sliding module. As the sliding module is moved, the sealing profile is pulled along. This allows a lateral connection of the sealing profile to the at least one sliding module. The sealing profile can thus be designed to be open on both sides, if desired. The lateral, upper, lower, and / or frontal connection can be made in various ways. It is easy to establish if the sealing profile is glued to the at least one sliding module.

[0020] Preferably, the support rail is made in one piece from a rigid extruded profile, in particular from aluminum. Alternatively or additionally, the sealing profile is made in one piece from an elastic material. It is preferably made of silicone or rubber and is preferably sufficiently elastic to be stretched to the desired length. In addition to or as an alternative to the stretchability, the sealing profile can be provided with material reserves to allow for a change in length.

[0021] The method according to the invention enables quick and easy installation of the sealing device, whereby the same method, without the fastening step, can also be used for maintenance of the sealing device. In the method according to the invention for installing the sealing device described above, the sealing device is fastened in a first step in or to a door leaf of the door or a window leaf of the window. Subsequently, the sealing profile is first stretched to length as required at one end using the associated sliding module. If two sliding modules are present, the sealing profile is then stretched to length as required, preferably at the other end using the associated sliding module. The door or window sash is closed and the sealing strip is lowered to check the protrusion of the two ends of the sealing profile in the lowered position relative to the door or window frame. As needed, the protruding length of the two ends is adjusted one or more times with the sealing strip raised. This allows the optimal length of the sealing profile for the lateral seal to be set without subsequent trimming of the sealing profile and without the use of sealing cushions arranged in the door frame.

[0022] Further embodiments are specified in the dependent claims. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0024] In the Figures 1 and 2 A sealing device according to the invention is shown in the raised state, i.e., typically with the door leaf open. It comprises a housing rail 1 with a downwardly open, essentially U-shaped cross-section. Two parallel legs 10 are connected to each other via an upper web 11.

[0025] A sealing strip is held in the housing rail 1 so that it can be lowered and raised. The sealing strip has a support rail 2 and a sealing profile 3 arranged thereon. The housing rail 1 and the support rail 2 are preferably made of a metal, in particular aluminum. The sealing profile 3 is preferably made of an elastic material, preferably an elastomeric material and more preferably silicone or rubber. The housing rail 1, the support rail 2, and the sealing profile 3 are preferably each formed as a single piece.

[0026] The sealing profile 3 preferably has a substantially U-shaped cross-section with two legs 30 and a lower web 31 connecting these two legs 30. On the legs 30, inwardly projecting ribs 32 are provided over the entire length of the sealing profile 3, which ribs are held in corresponding grooves 20 of the support rail 2. The grooves 20 are in Figure 8 The grooves 20 preferably have a slightly larger cross-section than the webs 32, so that the sealing profile 3 can be easily displaced along the grooves 20.

[0027] The sealing profile rests on a floor B of a building when the sealing strip is lowered, thus bridging a gap between the underside of the door leaf and the floor. This is the Figures 3 and 4 shown.

[0028] The sealing strip is lowered by means of a lowering mechanism not shown here, but known in the art. Preferably, the lowering mechanism with leaf springs and slider used in the applicant's products is used. The lowering mechanism is preferably triggered on one side at the front by an actuating button 4. When the door leaf is closed, the actuating button 4 rests against the door frame and is pressed in. The sealing strip is thereby lowered on the one hand, but is also displaced longitudinally relative to the housing rail 1. In this example, it is displaced to the right in the direction of movement of the actuating button 4 and thus of the slider along the longitudinal extent L of the device. This can be seen by comparing the Figures 1 and 3clearly visible. The length of the displacement, referred to here as the first length, results from the difference between the lengths X 1 minus Y 1 and Y 2 minus X 2 . The two differences mentioned are equal, since the length of the entire sealing strip, in particular the sealing profile 3, does not change during the lateral displacement.

[0029] When the sealing strip is raised, the sealing profile 3 protrudes at least at one end of the housing rail 1. A first end 33 of the sealing profile 3 projects beyond the end face of the housing rail 1 on the actuating button side 4 by the length X 1 , referred to here as the second length. A second end 34 of the sealing profile 3 protrudes on the opposite end face by the length X 2 , referred to here as the third length. When the sealing strip is lowered, the protruding area at the first end 33 is reduced to the length Y 1 and at the second end 34 the protruding area increases to the length Y 2 . When raised, the second end 34 can also be flush with the housing rail 1 or even be set back from it. The only important thing is that the sealing profile 3 is arranged on both sides relative to the housing rail 1 in such a way that, when lowered, it creates a gap to the door frame or the door on both end faces of the sealing device.to another door leaf or to another structural element and thus seals.

[0030] To achieve this, the protruding length of the sealing profile 3 is preferably specifically adjusted on both end faces. Preferably, a sliding module 5 is used on each side for this purpose, which not only adjusts the length of the sealing profile 3 but also holds it fixed at this selected length relative to the support profile 2. This fixation is present not only in the lowered state, but also in the raised state.

[0031] The displacement module 5 is described below using the Figures 5 to 10It has a substantially cuboid-shaped base body 50 with upwardly directed lateral legs and a fork 55 arranged on the rear side of the base body 50. The fork 55 engages in a cavity 22 of the support rail 2. A through opening 53 in the base body 50 is aligned with a round channel 21 of the support rail 2 arranged below the cavity 22.

[0032] Two lateral receiving grooves 56 in the base body 50 of the receiving module 5 serve to receive the ribs 32 of the sealing profile 3. Flat connecting surfaces 54 are provided on both side surfaces of the base body 50 for connection, in particular for bonding, to the legs 30 of the sealing profile 3. Preferably, the two connecting surfaces 54 are roughened. Preferably, the ribs 32 are also bonded to the receiving grooves 56.

[0033] The sliding module 5 is inserted into the support rail 2, with its distance from the end face of the support rail 2 being adjustable. At the smallest distance, the base body 50 of the sliding module 5 rests against the end face of the support rail 2. The sliding module 5 can be fixed to the support rail 2 at the selected distance by means of a screw 6, which is guided through the opening 53.

[0034] The position of the sliding module 5 relative to the support rail 2 can be adjusted along the longitudinal extent L of the sealing device by screwing the screw 6 more or less into the round channel 21 of the support rail 2. When adjusted, the sliding module 5 is held in a fixed position relative to the support rail 2.

[0035] The screw 6 is secured in its position in the longitudinal extension L of the sealing device, for example by being held captive in the displacement module 5, as shown in the Figures 9 and 10can be seen. For this purpose, the sliding module 5 has, for example, a lower opening 57. This fixes the stretched or elongated sealing profile 3 at the desired and set length.

[0036] The sealing device has such a sliding module 5 at at least one end, preferably at both ends of the support rail 2. The two sliding modules 5 are preferably identically designed and both are secured in their position in the longitudinal extension L of the sealing device with a screw 6 each.

[0037] The sealing device according to the invention enables an adjustable seal on at least one, preferably on both end faces of the door or window sash in a simple manner, wherein the sealing device is relatively easy to install, adjust and readjust.
